The Gettysburg Address
The Impact of the Gettysburg Address on the United States
The speech we now know as the Gettysburg Address was given to consecrate the fallen soldiers in the
bloodiest battle of the Civil War. It is known as one of the most influential speeches ever and has been
recognized in hindsight as pivotal in the outcome of the war. Its brevity and poetry emphasized
America s original dream, the importance of equality, and the opportunity for a new birth of freedom,
a message which continues to be of relevance today.
The Gettysburg Address was powerful because each word was thought out and was meaningful to
Lincoln. It was on November 19, 1863, when Lincoln delivered the speech after the battle of
Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was the most demoralizing battle of the Civil war between the
Union and the Confederacy, with over 50,000 casualties in just three days. Lincoln spoke at the
ceremonies honoring the brave Union soldiers after Edward Everett, a famous orator who spoke for
two hours. In contrast Lincoln captivated his crowd for just over two minutes with a mere 272 words.
He was concise and to the point while also poetic. Everett is known to have sent Lincoln a letter after
the ceremony that said; I should be glad, if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea
of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes. Lincoln repeated words that he wanted to
emphasize; we, dedicated, and nation. He stressed these words to make his message clearer.

Social Media And Social Networking
Social media is the communication between individuals and groups to share and exchange their ideas
through internet. The social networking is part of social media which plays the important role in today
s life. The biggest impact of the social networking is on children, youngs, and adults. Nowaday
children are growing up surrounded by technology. They like to use technology such as mobile,

big dramatic change. Social network networking is a social structure that is formed from the

And The Imporatance In The Gambler, By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The Gambler and the imporatance of distinct charachters in novels
No one can deny that the psychological novel displays to the greatest extent how a variety of different
characters is important for an enjoyable read. Such is the emphasis on the internal events and the inner
mental life of its characters, that this type of the novel is probably one of a kind in which
characterization is more prominent than in all other literary genres. First examples originate from
earlier epochs, but only a few could argue whether one of the greatest representatives of this genre was
a Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky or not. Though he is best known for his other novels, Crime and
Punishment, The Idiot, The Possessed and The Brothers Karamazov, this text offers a take on
characters of his fascinating short novel The Gambler which was written in 1866. Two topics are
woven within the zealously intricated storyline. The one is desperate longing for a distant woman and
the another one is a passion for gambling that Dostoyevsky himself at the time was struggling with. At
the same time, the novel was inspired by the topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We got to know a sad and unexpected truth about Alexei s character. He is compulsively drawn into
gambling like all the other characters who crave for risks and elusive luck. He asks himself: Can I
possibly not understand myself that I m a lost man? But why can t I resurrect? Yes! It only takes being
calculating and patient at least once in your life and that s all! It only takes being steadfast at least
once, and in an hour I can change my whole destiny! Yet we do not know how that ends. His personal
struggle is left unresolved. He might have had an another crack at trying to connect with the women of

normalization, by the society they live in, of the way these women are treated goes hand in hand with
the way men seem to discard them so easily, because in Song of Solomon the women are the ones who
get left behind. Morrison tries to break the stereotypical characterization of the women s dependency
on men, for instance by creating characters like Pilate who are more than capable to break free.
In the novel it is noticeable that some of the women are those who seem to be unable to fly and suffer
the most at the hand of the characters who are able. They are trapped in their marriages, crushed by
heavy burdens and try to survive day by day. (Morrison, 1977) Some women seem to be grounded and
trapped on earth. They are obsessive and rely on the safe and familiar places they have known their
whole lives , for instance Ruth Foster Dead, she is milkman s mother and the daughter of the first
negro doctor in town. (Morrison, 1977) Ruth has been mentally abused by her husband and lives a
loveless existence, against one s better judgment, Ruth stays married to Macon Dead II. She knows

TU Vs TCC
After highschool I intend on attending college. I m interested in the University of Tulsa (TU) and
Tulsa Community College (TCC) as viable options for my college career. These colleges interest me
because of their location, financial options, and academics. TU offers excellent engineering programs
which is one reason I am leaning towards TU. On the other hand, TCC has the right price. Both of my
college options have rich and intriguing histories. The TU website article History and traditions claims
that a boarding School in Muskogee, Indian Territory became the Henry Kendall College. Kendall
College came to Tulsa in 1907. In 1926 all the paperwork was completed to combine Kendall College
and McFarlin College to make TU. The TCC website article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

many more. which I interpret as them having scholarships for all types of individuals. I feel that TU s

TCC s scholarships are more focused towards any individual that has the want to attend college. Both

Used Car Terminology
Whether you re looking to buy or sell a used car, you re going to hear many different terms. You ll
need to learn what goes into determining the price of a used car to understand how to negotiate the
best price for yourself too. This guide will help you when you re buying or selling a used car.
Terminology
Dealer Retail Price
The used car dealer will want to sell the vehicle at the highest possible price. It s the price listed on the
buying guide or on the windshield in bright numbers. The retail price isn t the last price that a dealer
will take. It s often the starting place for negotiations.
It s also a higher price than a person would receive on a trade in to the dealership. The dealer has to be
able to make a profit on the vehicle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s the price at the beginning of negotations. A private seller will often list their asking price when
selling a used car.
You can certainly ask a private seller if they are willing to negotiate. Some private sellers will tell you
in their advertisements if they re willing to negotiate. It ll have the price and the words or best offer
after them. This means they are willing to discuss the final selling price.
Blue Book Value
When someone mentions the blue book value of the car, they are referring to the Kelley Blue Book
value. It s a list of cars based on model, year and condition as well as trade in prices.
While some people believe it s a price set in stone, it s only a pricing guide. Consumer reports, the
National Automobile Dealers Association and VMR has pricing guides too. When you check several
of these sources, you can pin down a more accurate price for a vehicle.
Trade In Price
Dealers will often take an old used vehicle when you re purchasing a vehicle from them. The trade in
price is negotiable and is based on what the dealer would like to pay, not the price he d get for it when
selling.

Searching for His Identity in Novel, The Invisible Man by...
Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in
the society in which he lives. (B. R. Ambedkar). Ralph Waldo Ellison was born on March 1, 1914, in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and named after journalist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. In his the
novel, Invisible Man, the main character carries around a briefcase throughout the entire story. All of
the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept from experiences. If the
Negro, or any other writer, is going to do what is expected of him, he s lost the battle before he takes
the field. I suspect that all the agony that goes into writing is borne precisely because the writer longs
for acceptance but it must be acceptance on his own terms. Ralph Ellison. The period of the novel
takes place around The Great Depression the worst economic crisis in the country s history, which left
a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing millions of people to suffer and experience
joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade. With so many hardships facing people in this time
they all wanted the same thing, which was to get a job and get back all they had lost. This led people
to change whom they were and gain new identities to fit the new society. Throughout the novel, the
Invisible Man is searching for his identity. At the start of Ralph Ellison s novel, we are introduced to a
self proclaimed invisible man. The narrator is portrayed as a

Building A Home Again After Foreclosure
Trying to own a home again after foreclosure can be scary, not only to the prospective applicant, but
also to the creditor. We all know that bad things happen to good people from losing a job due to a
company relocation or an unexpected illness or accident that causes excessive absences. Fortunately,
there are people (ie: creditors, loan officers, etc.) that understand and will assist someone to regain
home ownership. Now, a little about me before I go any further into this subject. I am Deborah

If a job was lost due to lack of work, sudden illness or accident, job relocation (company moved out of
the country), or company closed, some creditors or loan officers may be able to work on your behalf to
get you back into home ownership. There are current homeowners that may have had their house on
the market longer than they would have wanted and they may offer to finance the amount of the loan
for a potential serious buyer. Second, build a nest egg or cushion that will have at least six months of
living expenses in it. This will show stability to a potential loan officer in case of another possible job
loss and tells the loan officer that you are serious about owning a home again. The third rule is the
most time consuming, which is raising your credit score. House Logic states to be diligent in this
endeavor. Usually a credit score falls at least 150 points when there is a foreclosure. This is
detrimental to a credit score, but can be regained with hard work and money management skills
improving. It is recommended that a person with a foreclosure in their credit history needs to schedule
an appointment with a housing counselor. Those that seek education on money management and
budgeting will typically raise their borrowing power by $4,500 per family.(House). Number four says
you can shorten the waiting timeon applying for a mortgage after foreclosure if extenuating
circumstances are proven. These can include divorce, job loss

First, make certain that you simply arrange installing your antenna on time. The organization that ll be

Freedom Is The Highest Point Of Freedom
Freedom has its different demographics and views it can perceived into in which I don t think it can
ever justify to a deserved definition. I think we certainly live in the theory and allusion of freedom but
also compared to a vast amount of countries it is definitely looked upon as a free society. A country
could never reach the highest point of freedom because that is something of the unordinary and we as
a country are more close to freedom than any other country will be. Being able to express ourselves by
voting, voicing opinions, being of whatever sexuality and religion without interference is a remarkable
sense of freedom and luxury many wish to attain. For me specifically, I think the most important
factor of living in the American life is the privilege I have of going to school and being educated. If I
was never given the opportunity of such a tremendous fortune, I could never imagine residing in a
place that would be against it. To me education is not a something that I should fight for it should be a
given, it should be self explanatory as to why it is so extremely important and the fact that some
countries deny their people of such grant is one of the many reasons I believe America to be a free
country. Not being permitted the right to education especially because I am a female is not a form of
life anyone should have to suffer let alone a form of freedom people should be idealized to live with.
Definitely living in the United States gives me the advantage to be

turned into C s and below. Though he never got held back, he was still able to pass onto high school.
He went to Samaskolan High School, and still he was struggling in school. Felix lost connections and

The Munich Massacre
The 1972 Olympics were supposed to show that Germany had changed as a country. They were
supposed to be The Happy Games but instead are remembered for the massacre of the Israeli athletes.
The Munich Massacre has changed how terrorism is dealt with in different countries and in the
Olympics as a whole. The Massacre occurred on September 5th, the eleventh day of the 1972
Olympics. Eight Palestinian Terrorists that belonged to the group Black september killed two Israeli
athletes and took another nine hostage. The terrorists did this because Israel has Arabs in their prisons.
They wanted Israel to release over 230 Arab prisoners being held in Israeli jails and two German
terrorists (History). The Olympics did not have very good security during this time so this made it
easy for the terrorists to carry out their plan. Israel did not want any negotiations to be made however,
German authorities tried to make many with the terrorists. The terrorists demanded transportation to
Cairo following more than twelve hours of unsuccessful negotiations. Authorities led the terrorists to
believe they would comply while in truth they were planning to ambush them at the airport (NPS).The
ambush did not go as planned. The authorities thought that there were only five terrorists although
there were eight. The rescue failed for a few reasons. First, the German snipers that were chosen had

The Common Types Of People
A very common thing for people of all ages to do is go online and try to find answers for their
symptoms. Sometimes they find answers to their questions or they find the solution to their problem.
Often times, however people research their symptoms and end up paranoid and scared thinking there
might be something seriously wrong with themselves. While some people feel the need to find
answers, others argue that the internet isn t always as reliable as people like to believe.
There are many reasons why people look up their symptom and there are three very common types of
people that research their health problems. The first type being the people that find good results and
end in relief. This is because they realize that the problems they re having aren t serious, or that the
solution to their problems is fairly easy to accomplish.
The second type is the people that have been diagnosed with an actual health problem and go online to
find answers to their question. Researching helps them to know what to expect. It may help them
regain a sense of control during a scary and sometimes helpless time (Weiser). For this type of people
knowing information whether it be good or bad, helps them to feel comfort.
The third and what I personally think is the most common type is those that don t have a lot of
knowledge on their health issues. They don t know how serious their problems really are, well because
they aren t doctors to really know. These are the type of people that google

Roles Of Women In The 1920s Essay
After World War I ended in 1918, the United States became a world superpower with a thriving
economy. The 1920s was a time of prosperity, symbolized by technological advances, consumerism,
and leisure. Along with this affluence, came a movement towards modern values, and as people
migrated to large northern cities, these modern values became concentrated in urban areas. As a result,
an enormous cultural shift took place that greatly altered the lives of Americans, including women.
Women experienced significant political, social, and cultural change beginning in the 1920s, a decade
which came to be known as the Roaring Twenties. The rise of the feminist movement spawned a new
way of thinking for women in what it meant to be a citizen. Previously, women were deprived of
essential rights available to men, like the right to own property, claim a legal identity, or vote.
Generally, women were dependent on their marital status, and expected to ... Show more content on

Many women worked in domestic and clerical service as secretaries, telephone operators, and other

States entered World War II, most men enlisted as soldiers, creating labor shortages. This increased
demand for employees, caused women to replace men in the workforce. The persona of Rosie the

surge in working women, many employers still would not hire African Americans, leading to a push
for equal opportunity among union organizers. In 1941, Roosevelt made a step towards equality by

The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar Republic
While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the French Republic,
leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this period of instability, the inability of
the republics to propose legislation without dissent opened way for new leaders taking advantage of
the situation, promising a more unified and better society.
With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create representative
governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that did not work out as intended, with
the government focusing more on the upper class rather than the peasants that made up the majority of
the fledgling republic s population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by Maximilien
Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for the people, the
government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of the population, the peasants.
Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements for farmers, de christianized society, and
created a republic calendar did not appeal to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack of food on the
table (Tocqueville). As a result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice out against
them, rather than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republic faced a similar situation. With
much of the country disillusioned after their loss in World War I, the citizens looked towards the new
Weimar Republic for a

Description And Function Of Mutagenesis
Site directed mutagenesis is a method used to construct amino acid changes in a protein in order to test
the function of a specific amino acid. It is the way to study protein structure and function change the
amino acid sequence of a protein by altering the DNA sequence of cloned gene4. A particular amino
acid is very important in catalytic activity, ligand binding, protein folding or other function. Amino
acid residue significance is tested by making conservative substitutions or by changing the amino acid
to either alanine or glycine. Site directed mutagenesis is also used to construct compensatory
mutations, which are used to show the importance of specific interactions by making changes in both
interacting partners. Each change individual destroy the interaction and combination of changes
restores the interaction. These type of experiments are typically between two protein or between
protein and nucleic acid. Used site directed mutagenesis to investigate the interaction between hPol k
and DNA1.
DNA polymerase kappa is a Y family polymerase that use to bypass the damage DNA as translesion
synthesis polymerase. In prostate cancer has reported that it has higher frequency of mutation in DNA
polymerase kappa. 28% of patients have somatic mutations in POLK gene of prostate tumor and
dominated by C to T transition2.
Approximately 30,000 DNA lesions occur per cell per day in mammalian cells. This damage to DNA
can lead to cell death as well as disease such as cancer.

Compare And Contrast The Mobilisation Of Fats And...
The percentage of energy supplied for the body s energy needs by fats and carbohydrates varies at 0
minutes, 5 minutes and after 45 minutes of a marathon. The biochemical events that occur at these
time points will be evaluated in terms of the mobilisation of fats and carbohydrates, the pathways each
takes to produce energy and their yield in producing Adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
Fats and carbohydrates differ in their structure, energy yield and the way they are stored in the body.
For these reasons, they are not used equally by the body; and one predominates over the other at
different times in a marathon. The structure of fats consist of one glycerol molecule bound to three
fatty acid chains via ester bonds, and are termed triglycerides. ... Show more content on

Glucagon acts on the liver and muscles to initiate glycogenolysis. Glycogen phosphorylase
phosphorylates a terminal glucose molecule to form glucose 1 phosphate (G1P) and depletes ATP to
ADP, and is exergonic. Phosphoglucomutase converts G1P to glucose 6 phosphate (G6P). In muscles
G6P would enter the glycolytic pathway, however the liver must release glucose into the blood. G6P
enters the endoplasmic reticulum of liver cells and is converted to glucose by glucose 6 phosphatase,
after which it is released into the blood for adsorption by other cells. The glycolytic pathway consists
of 10 steps divided into 2 phases: preparatory and pay off. Step 1 is the phosphorylation (ATP to ADP)
of glucose to G6P by hexokinase and Mg2+ as a co factor, ΔG ˚= 16.7 KJ/mol (exothermic). In step 2
G6P is converted to fructose 6 phosphate by phosphohexose isomerase and Mg2+, the ration is
endergonic (ΔG ˚=1.7KJ/mol). Fructose 1,6 biphosphate is produced from the phosphorylation of
fructose 6 phosphate by phosphofructokinase 1 and Mg2+ in step 3. This reaction is exergonic due to
ATP hydrolysis (ΔG ˚=14.2KJ/mol) and is irreversible. In step 4 fructose 1,6 biphosphate is cleaved
by aldolase to form dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate in an endergonic
reaction (ΔG ˚=23.8KJ/mol). In step 5 dihydroxyacetone phosphate is converted to glyceraldehyde 3
phosphate by triose

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Micro Insurance
Micro insurance
Dealing with risks such as health problems, loss of crops, loss of livestock, the death of a family
member, loss of assets, income and employment is much harder by poor and low income groups than
others. Many poor households engage in activities which are smaller and bringing greater degree of
risk and uncertainty and therefore likely scale financial risks and income. Every serious illness, every
accident and every natural disaster threatens the existence of the poor and usually leads to more
poverty. Thus the vicious cycle of poverty carries on.
The poor faces two types of risk Idiosyncratic (specific for home) and Covariate (Drought, epidemics,

The Chosen Character Analysis
The Characteristics of a Coach
Everyone in society should be a role model, not only for their own self respect, but for respect from
others. ~ Barry Bonds. In this world bad situations occur frequently and it takes a good strong person
to handle them in a mature way. Dealing with them this way not only shows that the person has self
control, but also makes them a good role model for people to look up to. In the book The Chosen,
Chaim Potok uses Mr. Galanter to express his opinions of a good role model. Acting as a baseball
coach and gym teacher, young boys look to him for guidance and motivation every day. Having this
kind of position causes stress at times, and requires him to stay calm and level headed. Throughout

Running head: CARDIAC CONDUCTION CYCLE AND OUTPUT 1
Cardiac conduction cycle and Output
July 30, 2014 CARDIAC CONDUCTION CYCLE AND OUTPUT 2
Cardiac conduction cycle and output Cardiac conduction ensures that cardiac chambers are stimulated
to contract in a coordinated manner, which makes the heart an effective pump. The autorhythmic
fibers are self excitable; they repeatedly and rhythmically generate action potentials that trigger heart
contractions. They even continue to stimulate a heart to beat after it is removed from the body. The
contractile fibers make up the remaining working myocardial fibers in our heart. Thee fibers provide
the powerful contractions that propel blood though out our body. The ... Show more content on

The signal then quickly passes though the AV bundle and excites the apex and base of the ventricles,
beginning contractions.
CARDIAC CONDUCTION The pace of ventricular contraction is being determined by the ventricles
natural rhythm, not from excitation generated by the SA node. The SA node s signals are not
successfully moving along their normal path to the ventricles. While a typical contractile cell in the
myocardium has a resting membrane potential, a cell of the SA node is not fixed and is known as the
pacemaker potential.

To find the 95% of the men s scores you would again use the formula:. The Mean=52.53 and the
SD=30.90. These scores were found on pg. 134 in table 2 column labeled Male in the pain category.
Formula: 52.53±1.96(30.90)
52.53 1.96(30.90) = 52.53 60.56
52.53 60.56= 8.03
52.53+1.96(30.90) = 52.53+60.56
52.53+60.56= 113.09

5. Were the body image scores significantly different for women versus men? Provide a rationale for
your Answer.
On pg. 133 of the workbook Exercise 18 the body image scores were found to be significantly higher
in women versus men. The rationale for this information was stated in the information provided on
pg.133 stating that women had a score of (73.1±17.0) and men had a score of (60.2±17.0).
6. Assuming that the distribution of Mental Health scores for men is normal, where are 99% of the
men s mental health scores around the mean in this distribution? Round your answer to two decimal
places.
To find the 99% of the men s mental health scores you would use the formula:. This formula was
found on page 132 of Exercise 18 in the second paragraph. The Mean=57.09 and the SD=23.72. These
scores were found on pg. 134 in table 2 column labeled Male in the mental health category.
Formula: 57.09±2.58(23.72)
57.09 2.58(23.72) = 57.09 61.20
57.09 61.20= 4.11

The On The Other Hand, Parole, By De Saussure
On the other hand, parole refers to the use of the langue the action in and of itself. It occurs in the
phenomenon of language as a sequence of speech. Parole, which includes both written and spoken
languages utilized in everyday life, is extremely diverse and varied dependent upon the number of
people attempt to use a common language. In addition, de Saussure noted the constant change that
parole undergoes as social groups, and age of users manipulate the language over time.
De Saussure s interpretation of the underlying basis of language also included a composition of signs
as opposed to sentences. Signs consist of two parts: a notion and a sound/written pattern. Without a
sound, the notion is incommunicable. Similarly, without a notion, sound patterns are just noise.
Without a comprehensive understanding of langue, parole is a meaningless collection of sounds or
symbols grouped together at random. By understanding the relationship between the two parts of a
sign, langue and parole create meaning. Therefore, de Saussure spoke heavily on the importance of
understanding the langue of a language, especially a foreign one, than to grow the vocabulary of
parole. By approaching a nonnative language as such, the speaker increases his or her ability to make
sense equal to that of a native speaker. Language acts as a link that allows thought to be expressed
through sound. As thoughts become more coherent, thus leading to the creation of sounds in words
and phrases, language

The government is the major payer of Medicare, Medicaid and other public health programs and as

American Sign Language Research Paper
There is a plethora of information about American Sign Language that I was unaware of. Growing up,
I had never known anyone that was deaf, nor taken any classes about sign language. Therefore, some
of the information I was able to learn throughout the class surprised me. As a start, it was
disappointing to discover that deaf culture and sign language are only passed down through deaf
families and residential schools. This can limit the amount of knowledge a hearing person has about
the deaf culture, and this knowledge is important because it is still relevant in today s day and age. In
fact, the topic should come up in more schools across the country. Another aspect of sign language
that surprised me was the importance of facial expressions.

has taken total advantage in implementing the new laws by propagating eight hundred billion dollars

Problem With The Problem Of Evil
The Problem with the Problem of Evil
I am arguing that the Logical Problem of Evil (LPE) is not a successful argument to reject the
existence of God. This is due to the LPE arguing with an inaccurate definition for the word good .
With the correct definition of good, I will show that an all good and all powerful God can logically
exist simultaneously with evil. A response for my objection could be the Furthermore, if we allow the
inadequate use of the word evil , the LPE still does not constitute the immediate rejection of the
existence of God due to the concept of free will. A response to this objection is that individual humans
are not free and are therefore not morally responsible for their actions. However, I will show that this
response fails to disprove the existence of God.
Logical Problem of Evil In the article Evil and Omnipotence , J. L. Mackie argues his version of the
LPE. He defines evil to be concepts that good can abolish or get rid of. For the sake of this paper I
define Mackie s concept of evil as pain and suffering. In Evil and Omnipotence Good is defined to be
the taking away of pain and suffering. This definition of good and evil allows this argument to become
valid :
1. God is all powerful and all good
2. Evil exists _
3. God Doesn t exist
The above argument is valid due to the logic that an all powerful and all good God would be able to
and should eliminate all the evil in the world. However, since pain and suffering (evil)

The Influence Of Tax Credits
The Influence of Tax Credits The impetus behind the tax credits appears to be two fold. As taxpayers
work to improve energy efficiency, decreasing usage, and lessening the environmental impact of their
daily activities, they may receive financial rewards based on their actions. The offer of tax credits is an
attempt to achieve a certain behavior from the consumer. However, two important things must take
place before the consumer takes action. First, the consumer must be aware that a tax credit is
available. Sales are highly publicized, but publicity relating to tax credits is limited. Once the
consumer is made aware of a tax credit, they must view the tax credit as a reduction in price, but a tax
credit is much more complicated with several caveats. Environmental tax credits offered by various
levels of government are extremely popular with both the governing bodies and those who benefit
from the credits. Government is seen as taking a positive step not only towards improving the
environment, but reducing the United States dependency on fuel from other countries which in turn
allows for greater security. Tax credits allow the individual or business to decide how to spend their
money and the financial benefit of a particular behavior. The financial benefit may be in the form of
reduced operating costs or taxes. However a closer look at eco friendly tax credits for the individual
consumer points to a class discrepancy. These tax credits require an initial and

  • 3. The Gettysburg Address The Impact of the Gettysburg Address on the United States The speech we now know as the Gettysburg Address was given to consecrate the fallen soldiers in the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. It is known as one of the most influential speeches ever and has been recognized in hindsight as pivotal in the outcome of the war. Its brevity and poetry emphasized America s original dream, the importance of equality, and the opportunity for a new birth of freedom, a message which continues to be of relevance today. The Gettysburg Address was powerful because each word was thought out and was meaningful to Lincoln. It was on November 19, 1863, when Lincoln delivered the speech after the battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was the most demoralizing battle of the Civil war between the Union and the Confederacy, with over 50,000 casualties in just three days. Lincoln spoke at the ceremonies honoring the brave Union soldiers after Edward Everett, a famous orator who spoke for two hours. In contrast Lincoln captivated his crowd for just over two minutes with a mere 272 words. He was concise and to the point while also poetic. Everett is known to have sent Lincoln a letter after the ceremony that said; I should be glad, if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes. Lincoln repeated words that he wanted to emphasize; we, dedicated, and nation. He stressed these words to make his message clearer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. And The Imporatance In The Gambler, By Fyodor Dostoyevsky The Gambler and the imporatance of distinct charachters in novels No one can deny that the psychological novel displays to the greatest extent how a variety of different characters is important for an enjoyable read. Such is the emphasis on the internal events and the inner mental life of its characters, that this type of the novel is probably one of a kind in which characterization is more prominent than in all other literary genres. First examples originate from earlier epochs, but only a few could argue whether one of the greatest representatives of this genre was a Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky or not. Though he is best known for his other novels, Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Possessed and The Brothers Karamazov, this text offers a take on characters of his fascinating short novel The Gambler which was written in 1866. Two topics are woven within the zealously intricated storyline. • 6. Song Of Solomon Discrimination Quotes normalization, by the society they live in, of the way these women are treated goes hand in hand with the way men seem to discard them so easily, because in Song of Solomon the women are the ones who get left behind. Morrison tries to break the stereotypical characterization of the women s dependency on men, for instance by creating characters like Pilate who are more than capable to break free. In the novel it is noticeable that some of the women are those who seem to be unable to fly and suffer the most at the hand of the characters who are able. They are trapped in their marriages, crushed by heavy burdens and try to survive day by day. (Morrison, 1977) Some women seem to be grounded and trapped on earth. They are obsessive and rely on the safe and familiar places they have known their whole lives , for instance Ruth Foster Dead, she is milkman s mother and the daughter of the first negro doctor in town. • 10. Searching for His Identity in Novel, The Invisible Man by... Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. (B. R. Ambedkar). Ralph Waldo Ellison was born on March 1, 1914, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and named after journalist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. In his the novel, Invisible Man, the main character carries around a briefcase throughout the entire story. All of the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept from experiences. If the Negro, or any other writer, is going to do what is expected of him, he s lost the battle before he takes the field. I suspect that all the agony that goes into writing is borne precisely because the writer longs for acceptance but it must be acceptance on his own terms. Ralph Ellison. The period of the novel takes place around The Great Depression the worst economic crisis in the country s history, which left a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing millions of people to suffer and experience joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade. A country could never reach the highest point of freedom because that is something of the unordinary and we as a country are more close to freedom than any other country will be. Being able to express ourselves by voting, voicing opinions, being of whatever sexuality and religion without interference is a remarkable sense of freedom and luxury many wish to attain. For me specifically, I think the most important factor of living in the American life is the privilege I have of going to school and being educated. If I was never given the opportunity of such a tremendous fortune, I could never imagine residing in a place that would be against it. To me education is not a something that I should fight for it should be a given, it should be self explanatory as to why it is so extremely important and the fact that some countries deny their people of such grant is one of the many reasons I believe America to be a free country. Sometimes they find answers to their questions or they find the solution to their problem. Often times, however people research their symptoms and end up paranoid and scared thinking there might be something seriously wrong with themselves. While some people feel the need to find answers, others argue that the internet isn t always as reliable as people like to believe. There are many reasons why people look up their symptom and there are three very common types of people that research their health problems. The first type being the people that find good results and end in relief. This is because they realize that the problems they re having aren t serious, or that the solution to their problems is fairly easy to accomplish. The second type is the people that have been diagnosed with an actual health problem and go online to find answers to their question. Researching helps them to know what to expect. It may help them regain a sense of control during a scary and sometimes helpless time (Weiser). For this type of people knowing information whether it be good or bad, helps them to feel comfort. • 17. Roles Of Women In The 1920s Essay After World War I ended in 1918, the United States became a world superpower with a thriving economy. The 1920s was a time of prosperity, symbolized by technological advances, consumerism, and leisure. Along with this affluence, came a movement towards modern values, and as people migrated to large northern cities, these modern values became concentrated in urban areas. As a result, an enormous cultural shift took place that greatly altered the lives of Americans, including women. Women experienced significant political, social, and cultural change beginning in the 1920s, a decade which came to be known as the Roaring Twenties. The rise of the feminist movement spawned a new way of thinking for women in what it meant to be a citizen. Previously, women were deprived of essential rights available to men, like the right to own property, claim a legal identity, or vote. Once the United States entered World War II, most men enlisted as soldiers, creating labor shortages. This increased demand for employees, caused women to replace men in the workforce. The persona of Rosie the Riveter inspired millions of females to work in defense industries and support services. The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar Republic While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the French Republic, leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this period of instability, the inability of the republics to propose legislation without dissent opened way for new leaders taking advantage of the situation, promising a more unified and better society. With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create representative governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that did not work out as intended, with the government focusing more on the upper class rather than the peasants that made up the majority of the fledgling republic s population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by Maximilien Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for the people, the government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of the population, the peasants. Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements for farmers, de christianized society, and created a republic calendar did not appeal to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack of food on the table (Tocqueville). As a result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice out against them, rather than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republic faced a similar situation. It is the way to study protein structure and function change the amino acid sequence of a protein by altering the DNA sequence of cloned gene4. A particular amino acid is very important in catalytic activity, ligand binding, protein folding or other function. Amino acid residue significance is tested by making conservative substitutions or by changing the amino acid to either alanine or glycine. Site directed mutagenesis is also used to construct compensatory mutations, which are used to show the importance of specific interactions by making changes in both interacting partners. Each change individual destroy the interaction and combination of changes restores the interaction. These type of experiments are typically between two protein or between protein and nucleic acid. Used site directed mutagenesis to investigate the interaction between hPol k and DNA1. DNA polymerase kappa is a Y family polymerase that use to bypass the damage DNA as translesion synthesis polymerase. In prostate cancer has reported that it has higher frequency of mutation in DNA polymerase kappa. 28% of patients have somatic mutations in POLK gene of prostate tumor and dominated by C to T transition2. The percentage of energy supplied for the body s energy needs by fats and carbohydrates varies at 0 minutes, 5 minutes and after 45 minutes of a marathon. The biochemical events that occur at these time points will be evaluated in terms of the mobilisation of fats and carbohydrates, the pathways each takes to produce energy and their yield in producing Adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Fats and carbohydrates differ in their structure, energy yield and the way they are stored in the body. For these reasons, they are not used equally by the body; and one predominates over the other at different times in a marathon. Glucagon acts on the liver and muscles to initiate glycogenolysis. Glycogen phosphorylase phosphorylates a terminal glucose molecule to form glucose 1 phosphate (G1P) and depletes ATP to ADP, and is exergonic. Phosphoglucomutase converts G1P to glucose 6 phosphate (G6P). In muscles G6P would enter the glycolytic pathway, however the liver must release glucose into the blood. G6P enters the endoplasmic reticulum of liver cells and is converted to glucose by glucose 6 phosphatase, after which it is released into the blood for adsorption by other cells. The glycolytic pathway consists of 10 steps divided into 2 phases: preparatory and pay off. Step 1 is the phosphorylation (ATP to ADP) of glucose to G6P by hexokinase and Mg2+ as a co factor, ΔG Ëš= 16.7 KJ/mol (exothermic). In step 2 G6P is converted to fructose 6 phosphate by phosphohexose isomerase and Mg2+, the ration is endergonic (ΔG Ëš=1.7KJ/mol). Fructose 1,6 biphosphate is produced from the phosphorylation of fructose 6 phosphate by phosphofructokinase 1 and Mg2+ in step 3. This reaction is exergonic due to ATP hydrolysis (ΔG Ëš=14.2KJ/mol) and is irreversible. In step 4 fructose 1,6 biphosphate is cleaved by aldolase to form dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate in an endergonic reaction (ΔG Ëš=23.8KJ/mol). • 28. The On The Other Hand, Parole, By De Saussure On the other hand, parole refers to the use of the langue the action in and of itself. It occurs in the phenomenon of language as a sequence of speech. Parole, which includes both written and spoken languages utilized in everyday life, is extremely diverse and varied dependent upon the number of people attempt to use a common language. In addition, de Saussure noted the constant change that parole undergoes as social groups, and age of users manipulate the language over time. De Saussure s interpretation of the underlying basis of language also included a composition of signs as opposed to sentences. Signs consist of two parts: a notion and a sound/written pattern. Without a sound, the notion is incommunicable. Similarly, without a notion, sound patterns are just noise. Without a comprehensive understanding of langue, parole is a meaningless collection of sounds or symbols grouped together at random. By understanding the relationship between the two parts of a sign, langue and parole create meaning. Therefore, de Saussure spoke heavily on the importance of understanding the langue of a language, especially a foreign one, than to grow the vocabulary of parole. By approaching a nonnative language as such, the speaker increases his or her ability to make sense equal to that of a native speaker. Language acts as a link that allows thought to be expressed through sound. As thoughts become more coherent, thus leading to the creation of sounds in words and phrases, language ... This is due to the LPE arguing with an inaccurate definition for the word good . With the correct definition of good, I will show that an all good and all powerful God can logically exist simultaneously with evil. A response for my objection could be the Furthermore, if we allow the inadequate use of the word evil , the LPE still does not constitute the immediate rejection of the existence of God due to the concept of free will. A response to this objection is that individual humans are not free and are therefore not morally responsible for their actions. However, I will show that this response fails to disprove the existence of God. Logical Problem of Evil In the article Evil and Omnipotence , J. L. Mackie argues his version of the LPE. He defines evil to be concepts that good can abolish or get rid of. For the sake of this paper I define Mackie s concept of evil as pain and suffering. In Evil and Omnipotence Good is defined to be the taking away of pain and suffering. This definition of good and evil allows this argument to become valid : 1. God is all powerful and all good 2. • 35. The Influence Of Tax Credits The Influence of Tax Credits The impetus behind the tax credits appears to be two fold. As taxpayers work to improve energy efficiency, decreasing usage, and lessening the environmental impact of their daily activities, they may receive financial rewards based on their actions. The offer of tax credits is an attempt to achieve a certain behavior from the consumer. However, two important things must take place before the consumer takes action. First, the consumer must be aware that a tax credit is available. Sales are highly publicized, but publicity relating to tax credits is limited. Once the consumer is made aware of a tax credit, they must view the tax credit as a reduction in price, but a tax credit is much more complicated with several caveats. Environmental tax credits offered by various levels of government are extremely popular with both the governing bodies and those who benefit from the credits. Government is seen as taking a positive step not only towards improving the environment, but reducing the United States dependency on fuel from other countries which in turn allows for greater security. Tax credits allow the individual or business to decide how to spend their money and the financial benefit of a particular behavior. The financial benefit may be in the form of reduced operating costs or taxes. However a closer look at eco friendly tax credits for the individual consumer points to a class discrepancy.
