Marketing Simulation
Overview Our company Orange experienced a very successful campaign and grew more profitable
over the six quarters throughtout the Market Simulation. In terms of market share in comparison to the
competition, we placed fourth holding 12 percent market share. We initially targeted the Mercedes
market, and later developed products aimed at the Traveler and Workhorse clientele. In terms of
profitability, we suffered a loss moving from Quarter 1 to Quarter 2, which is typical of most early
stage companies. However, each quarter thereafter we were able to maintain a profit, ending with
$18,270,122 gross profit and $15,232,910 operating profit. Our six computer models are the driving
factor behind such success. These models include The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allowed for The Motherboard to be produced, which led to 46 percent% domination in only the
Mercedes market. Unfortunately overall Orange only had a 12 percent% overall market share, and felt
it was necessary to expand into the portable laptop industry of Traveler with The Babyboard 2.0, and
opened a plant in Paris. By Quarter 3, the market size had reached 10,000 customers, which allowed
for expansion in the cities of Shanghai and Sao Paulo, and the last target market of Workhorse. The
generous rebates were attractive to the target audience, and allowed for the introduction of The
Horseboard, The Superboard, and The Toddlerboard. By Quarter 6, a total of 60 sales people had been
employed, and due to the overall low prices of the products, as well as the rebates, Orange gained a 2
percent% market share.
Financial Performance: Throughout these first phases of our company, Orange has created a positive
financial pattern. While we implemented an aggressive growth strategy and expanded our empire
internationally, we kept our costs to a minimum. Naturally, we started Quarter 2 with a deficit due to
startup costs. Unlike most companies, our costs were controlled however, and we were only behind by
just over $12,000. As advertising has always been a core competency of our company, we spent a total
of $109,471 developing and promoting our first batch of advertising. The leasing

Comparing The Great Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Introduction:
Global accounts of the Great Deluge are documented as history or legend by cultures in nearly all
regions on earth. Flood myths are found not only in the current religious doctrines of near eastern
societies, but also in those of the ancient civilizations of the world, ranging from the remnants of
Ancient Greek and Mesopotamian tablets to the oral traditions of the Maya and Chinese. Of over 500
flood legends from a multitude of different cultures, it seems the most ancient accounts of the Great
Deluge date back to the Epic of Gilgamesh from the Ancient Sumerian Civilization. Two of the most
popular religions, Christianity and Hinduism, also have accounts of such a devastating flood in their
religious scriptures. Although their stories of the Great flood are incredibly similar, they both have
differences that reflect the beliefs of their respective cultures, which are in turn reflected in their
societies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The similarities, for example, can be explained with the proposition that the Great Deluge was a
historic event or with the theory that the flood myths are variations of an original account, which
would most likely be the Epic of Gilgamesh. In contrast, the discrepancies between the Hindu and
Christian versions of the myths can be explained as varying due to the different beliefs central to their
respective religions. Thus, the topic to be explored henceforth is the impact that the differences in the
Hindu and Christian cultures had on their retellings of the Great Flood. By completing a thorough
analysis of the Great Flood myth, one can gain a better understanding of the beliefs of each culture
and how they manifest in their religious manuscripts and affect their societies as a

The Time Frame Of Relevance For The American Mafia
During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime arose and
lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations came to be
known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These families , as they were
called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed quickly in America,
developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal activity. The method of
structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob very susceptible to
exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many instances of which were
eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell in prominence and
importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major time frame of relevance
for the American Mafia is about 1920 2001.
During a time when immigration flourished for the United States, specifically the late 1800s and early
1900s, many people of different backgrounds and ethnicities did as was popular at the time and moved
to the fresh land of America, specifically the cities of New York and Chicago, in search of better
economic opportunity. The Italians that would eventually come to compose nearly the entirety of the
mob were included in this influx of people. The number of immigrants increased by 800% between
the years of 1880 and 1890, starting at 25,000 and growing to 250,000

Cave Paintings In The Film Cave Of Forgotten Dreams
Thinking of life back almost 40,000 years ago can be a challenge to wrap the mind around. To learn
about the human species past, we must decipher the clues left behind of how humans used to live.
When asked to recreate cave paintings a common drawing some might think of stick figures. The
actuality of the cave paintings is that they are incredibly detailed and are able to show the artistic
talent of the cavemen and women. In the film Cave of Forgotten Dreams, it focuses on a cave in
southern France and the intricate paintings and artifacts found inside. The cave dates to around 30,000
years ago and there is a unique aspect of how everything was preserved. In fact, a ledge of rock fell
and cut off the original entrance to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The animals ranged from horses to rhinos, and even cave lions. The drawings were detailed enough to
allow scientists to decipher the paintings and learn what they were witnessing at that period of time.
Along with the paintings of the animals, bones were found in the cave and that also revealed more
about the life in the cave other than just the cavemen and women. Using all of this information given
to them, the scientists were able to learn not only how the cavemen and women lived but how animals
lived during this time. The drawings in the cave in Southern France seemed to be quite anatomically
correct to the animals roaming Earth today. The drawings are so detailed that there is not much
hesitation on what type of animal they could have been drawing, it is obvious what their intent was. A
surprise regarding the animal paintings was the lack of anything other than mammals. Throughout the
cave there were a handful of paintings depicting insects such as butterflies and the one sole drawing of
a human, but besides that they animals were mammals. Why these paintings are important depends on
who is answering the question. A scientist might answer differently than an art professor who might
answer differently than a random civilian. The importance is in what each person gains from these
drawings. A scientist can analyze and learn about who lived there and how they looked and acted. This
was shown by the analysis of the red hand prints and the

The Themes Of Paranoia And Fear In The Atomic Age
The question of whether paranoia and fear were the prevailing mood in America after 1945 is not one
that can be answered in a black or white approach. We, as students of the present world, are fortunate
enough to be able to take on a zoomed out perspective on this issue; but the same could not be done by
Americans who lived through the beginning of the Atomic Age. They had far too little knowledge
about an issue that had such overreaching implications; and whatever little knowledge they had were
mostly incomplete or distorted. A recurring theme of the film was the mismatch between what the
Americans were told by the government, and the actual gravity of the situation. The movie highlights
these two extremes by alternating between scenes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Americans inability to conceptualize the effects of an atomic explosion, especially when it came
to radiation, worsened their anxiety. The term nuclearosis was introduced, to describe a dread disease
characterized by the intense preoccupation and fear of the nuclear bomb. Even Mental Health week
was created in America, as mental health was regarded as the nation s number one problem. It was
obvious that the atomic bomb was at the back of everyone s mind, causing a great deal of distress and

What Was Painted In 1937 By Pablo Guerrinca
Pablo Picasso Guerrinca s painting was painted in 1937 in a reaction to the Spanish Civil War
bombing of the small Basque village in Spain. During the years of the Spanish Civil War, Hitler and
Mussolini aided Spanish General Francisco Franco with artillery, airplanes, and tanks. Often soldiers
would test firearm weapons on people of small towns in Spain. On April 27, 1937, the small Basque
village has been bombed by German soldiers due to its population which was considered intimidating.
The outcome of the bomb lasted for more than two hours with outbursting flames, thousands of people
perishing, and others becoming wounded; meanwhile, more soldiers began to fire guns on the ground.
Picasso read the what had happened in Guernica in a French

Goosebupse Research Papers
Goosebumps is the newest addition to the children s books created into a movie series. This 2015 film
was directed by Rob Letterman, starring Jack Black, Dylan, Minnette, and Odeya Rush. As monsters
come out of books, this horror comedy takes it s audience on an action packed adventure. Just as the
audience of a book reads between the lines, the audience of a movie uses photography effects to
further understand the meaning. Many elements of photography are used to add effect to the events
throughout Goosebumps. A teenage boy, Minnette, moves to a small town that is much different than
his previous big city. Unhappy about the move, Minnette s character finds a bit of happiness in
meeting his neighbor, a beautiful teenage girl. A surprise comes when Minnette s character, Zach,
finds out his neighbor Hannah, played by Rush, is fathered by the well known author R.L. Stine. After
Zach found his way into Hannah s house he opens some of Stine s Goosebumps books and unleashes
the monsters into the world. Zach, Hannah, and Stine come together to fight off the monsters and get
them back into their books while keeping the town safe. Photography was first present, right away in
the opening scene. Two voices come from a car, with a moving trailer on the back, driving down an
open road. The camera shoots from an extreme long shot to show ... Show more content on

One of the most noticeable elements is the use of bright colors. The film had only used them
previously for the first couple opening scenes because the film was cheerful and happy. Rack focusing
was used to blur the surroundings of the high school while only staying focused on Hannah and Zach.
This was done so the audiences eyes were to follow the two main characters because they are all that
matters in the scene. Lyricism was used in this scene for the emotional intensity between characters.
The last scene was all about love and using lyrical style helped to emphasize the

Barnes And Noble Mission Statement
The company/firm that I decided to write about is Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble s are the

In the past century, they have grown and expanded all over the United States. Currently the company
is not doing as well as it did in the past due to the invention of eBooks offered in tablets as well as
Barnes and Noble s ebook product known as the NOOK. Barnes and Noble have deemed the NOOK

Barnes and Noble can make themselves very unique by offering a reoccurring a competitive
subscription to their customers rather than making their current customers have to go online or walk
into the store to buy a specific book. This technique has been very successful for Amazon when the
Kindle was introduced. One thing a forward thinking retailer will likely have to do to survive going
forward is really reinvent the business model. Here s an idea for a bookstore: How about borrowing
from the now accepted SAAS (Software As a Service) approach and aim for recurring subscription
revenue instead of transactional revenue. Set up an e library which, for a modest fee, gives you books
when you want them for as long as you want them, and thus makes it worthwhile to step up from free
public libraries that have wait lists and lending time limits Gerstein, M. (2016, June 1). This will put

Brief Summary In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
Losing a loved one can be one of the most difficult things that a person may have to endure in their
life. The author of the poem The Raven , Edgar Allan Poe, had to endure several devastating losses
throughout his life, including the loss of his mother, his adopted mother, and his wife all to
tuberculosis. This intense loss shows very clearly in his different works. The Raven is a poem about a
man who has lost the woman he loves and is very lonely until he begins to imagine a Raven and
eventually becomes even more depressed. While others may disagree, the Raven in Edgar Allan Poe s

Towards the end of the poem, the Speaker is causing his own sadness to grow due to his realization
that he will never again be happy nor escape his sadness. The Speaker imagines a shadow enveloping
him in the quote And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor/ Shall be lifted
nevermore! (Poe 107 108). In this scene, the Speaker is sitting in the shadow of a statue of the goddess
of wisdom, Pallas. The shadow symbolizes the Speaker s inability to escape his sorrow and the
shadow completely envelopes, or covers, the Speaker. He imagines that the Raven is the one casting
the shadow but his sadness and loneliness drive him to imagine the bird in his head. When he says,
Shall be lifted nevermore! (Poe 108), he realizes that there is absolutely nothing that he can do to help
himself. He is beginning to seem relieved, when all of the sudden, the mood is slammed back into
darkness by the word nevermore (Poe 108). This word proves the Speaker s worst fears that he will
not be able to escape the sadness and doom that he has created for himself. Poe s word choice proves
that the Speaker is the one to create his sense of doom, not the

Portrayal Of Mental Illness In Black Swan Lake
I decided to watch the movie Black Swan for the mental illness portion of the culture badge. The
movie portrays a number of mental illness including obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorder,
and psychosis. Nina, the protagonist in the movie, is a fragile and repressed ballerina. She strives for
the lead in Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake, a role that requires her to play both the gentle white swan and
the seductive black swan. While she is the perfect representation of the white swan, she is also far
from the image of the black swan. After winning the part, stress mounts on Nina to fulfill her role as
the black swan. She experiences unwanted sexual advances from her director, jealousy from other
ballerinas, as well as increasing conflict from her over controlling mom as she tried to assert her
autonomy. As stress and anxiety increase, Nina begins to experience psychotic breaks in which the
lines between reality and hallucination blurs, culminating in a shocking ending relating to her
embracing the Black Swan persona. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on her symptoms, Nina could have both schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder

some of her body injuries, her actions, and that another ballerina is coming after her. These false
beliefs and decisions she made due to her beliefs prevented Nina from having a normal, healthy life.
Nina also experiences anxiety by picking and scratching her skin as evident signs and her obsessive
traits are highlighted as she puts efforts to achieve perfection in dancing and body image by

Cunninghamella Elegans
C. Resistance of Cunnighamella elegans to different concentrations of studied metals:
In the present work, low concentrations of manganese could stimulate the Cunninghamella elegans
growth. Interestingly, increase the manganese concentration to 30 ppm was optimum for the fungus to
give the highest growth rate and the best sporulation comparing with control and other manganese
concentrations (Fig. 35). Increasing the manganese concentration to 50 ppm recorded the same growth
as control and then this rate suddenly decreased with 100 ppm manganese. The fungus completely
killed with 300 ppm manganese and above (Table 33, Fig. 34). There is no appreciable difference in
growth of Cunninghamella elegans with increasing concentration (1 ppm 100 ppm) of copper and
markedly decreased with increasing metal concentration (300 ppm 1000 ppm). Souza et al., (2005),
revealed the physiological aspects of the growth of C. elegans in the presence of copper, whereas C.
elegans is able to grow in copper containing medium and that the metal has a stimulatory effect on
biomass production. Therefore, the fungal growth in control media was slower than in the presence of
copper. In the present study, we confirmed the previous results but with a limited amount of copper in
the culture media (1 ppm 50 ppm) while the growth inhibited with high concentrations (100 ppm to

Explain The Humanistic Approach In Health And Social Care
The humanistic approach is a person centred approach which depends on trust between the patient and
care giver. It is useful because it is non intrusive and it gives people a choice to change their life. It is
also used in lots of situations, this shows it is used often. However, it ignores people s behaviour and
is short term so this can affect the care given as the carer won t keep an eye on the behaviour which is
very important to observe when providing care. The behavioural approach only involves looking at
behaviour which is being observed. It is easy to understand and is a natural approach so you can t
really tell how someone actually feels because they might do something else. It also doesn t rely on
communication a skill which makes it easier for the health carer and patient if they are not able to
communicate well. However, this approach doesn t involve looking at what is occurring inside
someone s head which makes it a little restricted. It can also only be used to ... Show more content on

This is an approach which is easy to understand and has no hidden meaning. However, this is a logical
approach so it s not quite suitable for those who don t think logically. Also, only one problem is
worked on at a time which means it may take a long time to sort out a large amount of problems. The
psychoanalytical approach is an approach which is based on what the patient says and does which is
effective as it can change many parts of peoples lives and not just the behaviour. This can also be used
for a wide range of problems which makes it even more useful and time consistent. However, for this
approach to be used specialist training is needed otherwise the health carer won t understand the
whole concept of using this approach. It is also quite complicated to use which may make it difficult
for the health carer to apply it to one of their

Culture Of Afric Africa
CULTURE OF AFRICA
INTRODUCTION The incomprehensible mainland of Africa is so rich and different in its society with
it transforming beginning with one of the nation then coming the next one as well as inside an
individual nation numerous diverse societies might be found. Much of Africa s social action focuses
on the family and the ethnic gathering. Symbolization, music, and oral writing serve to fortify existing
religious and social examples. The Westernized minority, impacted by European society and
Christianity, initially dismisses African conventional society, yet with the ascent of African patriotism,
social recovery happened. The legislatures of most African countries encourage national move and
music gatherings, storehouses, and to a lesser degree, craftsmen and journalists. Africa was the
origination of the human species between 8 million and 5 million years prior. Today, the larger part of
its tenants is of the indigenous cause. Individuals over the mainland are strikingly assorted by pretty
much any measure: They talk an inconceivable number of diverse dialects, polish several unique
religions, live in an assortment of sorts of abodes, and accept piece in a different variety of financial
actions. Through the hundreds of years, person s groups from distinguish area of the planet have
settled there. Verifiably, Arabs have been the most various workers. Beginning in the seventh century

Spanking A Child
The topic of should you spank your child has been a hot button topic recently in the U.S. While many
Parents support the idea, some parents on the other hand are against the idea. In this thread, I will be
stating my opinion on spanking a child. Why or why not? I will also be state weather or not the U.S
should ban spanking, like many European countries have done.
To start what is my position on spanking a child? While many parents tend to agree with the idea of
spanking, I myself do not agree with the concept. My reason for this is because many adults say that
spanking is a form of discipline. Well if we take a look at the word discipline, it stems from the word
disciple, which means to teach. So based on that, what is it that you are ... Show more content on

One of those means can be embarrassment. At the ages of 10 to 18 years old it s all about image for a
child. A child wants to fit in so bad that if a parent do something to disrupt that image it s mental, it s
emotional, and depending on what you did it can be physical. Meaning you don t have to hit a child to
get your point across, and all parents do it. Embarrassing a child is a rite of passage as a parent as well
as a tool that is 100 percent legal. Now, should the U.S put a ban on spanking a child? My answer for
that is no. My reason for this is because as a parent, there isn t a book on parenting, you are pretty
much making it up as you go, and if you believe that spanking is the right thing to do. Then it shouldn
t be up to the government to tell you how to parent. However, if you are hitting a child to an extensive
degree causing physical marks that look 50 shades of purple, or leaving laceration marks from a
switch, then you are clearly abusing a child and should be punished accordingly.
Now would a law preventing spanking interfere with parenting decisions? Yes and no. What I mean by
this is if you pass a law like this not all parents will comply, and be willing to learn new parenting
techniques, while the parents who are willing to learn will not be affected because they are still finding
ways to discipline their

Mechanical And Chemical Digestion Of The Digestive System
Digestion is the process of breaking larger food particles into smaller particles that can pass through
the plasma membrane. The digestive system is in charge of this process. To begin, the mouth receives
food, breaking it into smaller particles by chewing, a form of mechanical digestion with the teeth, for
absorption. The tongue aids in this process of chewing and swallowing as a muscular organ.
Additionally, the salivary glands in the mouth secrete saliva to help lubricate the food and begin
chemical digestion with its digestive enzyme, salivary amylase. Also aiding in chemical digestion in
the mouth is mucin. When in the mouth, salivary mucins functions as a protective layer.
Once formed into a small rounded mass, called a bolus, the food passes through a sphincter, a
muscular ring that regulates the size of an opening, and enters the esophagus, a muscular tube leading
to the stomach. No additional digestion occurs here. For the food to travel, it is lubricated with mucus
and moved by peristalsis into the stomach. At the end of the esophagus, at the opening to the stomach,
is a sphincter. Once in the stomach, a J shaped organ in the upper left region of the abdominal cavity,
the food goes through additional mechanical and chemical digestion. The churning action of the
stomach muscles physically breaks down the food while the acids and enzymes released help
breakdown the nutrients. Hydrochloric acid, a strong acid, helps break down protein and destroy

Manchurian Candidate And Animal Farm Comparison Essay
Despite having vastly different plotlines, characters, settings, the stories of Animal Farm and
Manchurian Candidate have strikingly similar parallels when it comes to the basis of theme. Animal
Farm is a simpler, almost light hearted take on a communistic society, told through the perspective of
farm animals who rebelled and overtook the farm; these animals represent those involved in the
Russian revolution, as well as the rise of communism. Manchurian Candidate has a story that is a bit
more rough on the perception of communism; it s a story of a man who is struggling with corruption
and brainwashing to further a communistic agenda. While both of these stories seem to have only a
few ideals in common, they both share a common central theme

Essay on Benjamin Franklin Gender Roles
Gender and the Age of Reason
In these two books, we have the story of a young man coming of age and finding success in the world
and the story of a young woman coming of age and failing to do so. In either book, what gender roles
prevailed?
In The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, we are reading the path that one man took to go from a
middle class child to a well respected adult. Benjamin Franklin created what we know today as the
American dream. Today we understand the American dream to be that one can go from rags to riches
with a little hard work. The autobiography is based around the age of reason and a time man was

Benjamin Franklin is known as a political figure and scientist/inventor. Learning the importance of
debate at such a young age clearly served him in great and many ways. Benjamin Franklin spent his
teen years practicing his writing. In 1720, James started a newspaper known as the New England
Courant. According to Franklin, this was the second newspaper in America. Franklin worked as a
delivery boy and would publish his own writings anonymously. Franklin often disputed politics and
books with another bookish lad by the name of John Collins. One of their arguments speaks directly
about the female gender during the 1700 s. A question was once, somehow or other, started between
Collins and me, of the propriety of educating the female sex in learning, and their abilities for study.

Manchester By The Sea Analysis
Manchester by the Sea is dynamic, emotional, and tragic. The film is a story about a man, Lee
Chandler, who becomes responsible for his teenage nephew, Patrick Chandler, after his brother dies of
Congestive Heart Failure. Lee is forced to leave his small apartment and handyman position in
Quincy, Massachusetts until his affairs in Manchester by the Sea, MA are in order. Roughly halfway
through the movie, Lee has a flashback of the fire he accidentally started that took the lives of his
three healthy children, and ultimately separated him and his wife. Considering this tragedy, Lee
struggles coping with his newly given responsibility of being Patrick s Guardian. One would be hard
pressed to watch all two hours of this movie and not feel any emotion. Manchester by the Sea provides
its viewers with a flawless delivery of a dramatic story and powerful message with brilliant actors. Lee
Chandler s story could to tug at anyone s heart, given his dramatic history. Few individuals possess the
strength to cope with a similar catastrophe. The director of the movie, Kenneth Lonergan, administers
drama in a creative way that keeps the onlooker roped in for the duration of the film. Todd McCarthy,
a renowned movie critic from The Hollywood Reporter, defines Manchester by the Sea in his movie
review as A dense, expert drama of broken New England Families (McCarthy). It is impossible to
argue with McCarthy s bottom line given its irrefutable accuracy. This is supported by numerous
scenes, including Lee s infamous flashback, Lee s encounter with his ex wife Randi on the streets of
Manchester by the Sea, and endless scenes entailing Patrick s uncertain fate. McCarthy provides an
effective synopsis of the film s drama in saying How the characters cope and relate after this
emotionally and psychologically fraught and often powerful, but the focus narrows down to Lee s
relationship with the teenage Patrick (McCarthy). More important than the crisis filled scenes in the
film is the dominant message conveyed by the director. In addition to the climatic nature of
Manchester by the Sea, Lonergan creatively facilitates an influential message for the observer to take
away. Lee s emotional struggles of his past clashing with his

habits of the ancestral people and several studies concerning it have been published. This forum post
explores some of the insights offered by such publications. A 2010 publication reviewed the results of
a study conducted within the preceding 25 years and consistency was reported between the initial
predictions and the study results.1 The implicated research involved a group of nine non obese
volunteers with a sedentary lifestyle. It entailed a non controlled challenge in which the candidates
were put on the usual diet plans for three days and thereafter put on ramp up diets for another three
days. Following these diet treatments, the candidates were then given nuts, fruits, meat, and vegetables
without consumption of legumes, dairy, and grain products for ten days. The volunteers showed a

sample size, they pointed to the potential benefits of Paleo diets in weight loss. Another 2014

for minorities in America. One of these leaders was Mary McLeod Bethune, whose work laid a
foundation for society s view of the black community. Based on her contributions to advancements in
civil and educational rights for people of color, she was arguably the most impactful leader in the
1930s. Mary McLeod Bethune was born in the small town of Mayesville, South Carolina on July 10,
1875 (Biography.com Editors). She was raised by her parents, Samuel and Patsy McLeod along side
with her 16 other brothers and sisters (Mary McLeod Bethune Biography). Her parents, along with

Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed her as Director of the Division of Negro Affairs of the National

director suited her well because it allowed her to reach out to the nation s black youth and let her
advocate for equal pay for blacks (Lewis). Mary once said, My people needed literacy, but they

Tradition and Change in The Kitchen God s Wife and The Joy Luck Club
Throughout the novels The Kitchen God s Wife and The Joy Luck Club, author Amy Tan conveys the
message of tradition and change. Each novel contains sections about mothers talking and relating their
stories to their daughters. The daughters in The Joy Luck Club hear stories about loss and happiness,
and joy and hate. Each of the four mothers tell these stories to their daughters as lessons, or offerings
for their futures. They tell the stories to show how lucky their daughters have been, yet how their lives
will never be the same as their own lives have been. They try to help their daughters on some level

Compare Beowulf And The Faerie Queene
After reading the assigned stories I have chosen to write about the Faerie Queene and Beowulf. Both
Redcrosse and Beowulf show the perfect hero in two periods, Both Beowulf and Redcrosse Knight
exemplify the perfect hero in two separate periods, The Early Modern Period and The Middle Age.
Beowulf shows the effect of the spread of Christianity, values heroic deeds and bravery above all else.
Beowulf s heroism is explored in three separate conflicts, those with Grendel, Grendel s mother, and
the sea monster. Redcrosse Knight, The Faerie Queen, show Holiness, though he is the individual
Christian fighting against evil.
The Faerie Queene, was written during the early modern period, shows a massive change in Christian
religious practices. Redcrosse offers his services to Gloriana, Queen of Fairyland Una reveals that the
dragon of hell has captured her parents and that she needs assistance in getting them free. Redcrosse
takes on the challenge of getting her parents released (Canto 1). This demonstrate a hero, he will go
through great trials and fight fierce monsters and this in itself is the character of a heroic knight. Not
only does his armor protect his body and those with him, but also being a Christian he has the
protection of Christ. For the Christian to be holy, he must have faith.
Much of Beowulf is showing heroism , this shows the values of strength, courage, and loyalty,
hospitality, generosity,. Redcrosse, must defeat villains who impersonate the falsehood of the

Thanatopsis By William Cullen Bryant
William Cullen Bryant s poem Thanatopsis is centered around the theme of death. Bryant manages to
keep the poem joyful and uplifting trying to help young readers understand that death is unavoidable.
He is able to convey the idea of death by comparing it to nature and making it much less threatening.
Death is a part of the circle of life and nature is full of examples to reinforce this idea.
In the first stanza, Bryant uses nature to describe death. He gives nature human traits such as voice,
emotions, beauty, and thought. By doing this, he takes the fear out of death and makes it appear more
peaceful. Through his words voice of gladness it takes away the apprehension of the unknown.
In the 2nd stanza, his words the earth, that nourished

Her first feat was becoming a female pilot, which at the time was very difficult. She became the 16th

vice president of the National Airways, Inc. ( Earhart, Amelia ). She also became the first woman vice
president of the National Aeronautic Association, which authorized the official records and races
(Cochrane and Ramirez). Having been a licensed pilot for a mere 5 years, this is quite impressive. The
following year, she took place in an airplane race dubbed the Powder Puff Derby. Amelia Earhart
came in 3rd during this race. This race was dangerous, and open for women only. Many people died,
but those who didn t later became some of the female pilots to make up the Ninety Nines. Amelia

this wasn t the first time that she had crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The first time was in 1928, but she

Examples Of Individualistic Heroism
Part One The Historical Background
1.1 Individualistic Heroism in USA
What is individualistic heroism? It s a spirit usually expresses as a person who has good quality and is
willing to make sacrifices when the nation suffers a great crisis. He may not have a wonderful
experience of life, but he must have a heart to save the ordinary people at a critical moment.
Individualistic heroism is fully deduced in the American movies. We can find that individualistic
heroism has been the main theme of American movies in the last century. However, in reality, the
origin of individualistic heroism can be traced back to the World WarⅡ.

Torture Argumentative Essay
Over centuries throughout the world, torture has been a debated and very controversial topic. For the
past week, I have read articles written by four separate authors who share their opinion on the topic.
The articles take you through the opinions of the authors and many compelling arguments. Is torture
inhumane? Is torture barbaric? Does the use of torture discredit our moral standings? Could you be
given bad intelligence even with the use of torture? After reading the information provided in these
four articles, I have not only become aware of the issues, but I have also formed my own opinion.
According to Michael Levins, The Case for Torture , over time there have been occasions in which
torture is seen as simply essential and tolerable. One claim Levin uses in his article is an atomic bomb
attack made by terrorists. If the suspect is caught and in police custody, the question is are the officers
suppose to just stick to protocol or should they be doing anything possible to get the information they
need to save all those people? , even if that means to put the man in unbearable circumstances. Levine
argues that millions of innocent lives are worth more than this one mass murder, but we are going to
let him win because torture is unconstitutional and barbaric. Levin goes on to explain that if we can
view torture as necessary means in an extreme case like that, we can see that the choice of torture is
simply a balancing act of innocent lives and what it will take to

The Science That Is Connected With Planet Earth
Geomagnetic Storms
Introduction
The science that is connected with planet earth encompasses Earth Science among others.
Geomagnetic storms, also known as a magnetic storm, a solar storm, or space weather is a disturbance
in the Earth s magnetic field (magnetosphere) caused by energy and flows of charged elements or
plasma from the Sun. Solar storms come in a variety of forms, each capable of distinguishing brands
of possible danger. Most magnetic storms are aimed away from Earth, but when a storm positions in
our direction, space weathermen begin to analyze what sort of space weather it may produce, and how
soon to anticipate the chaos [Wisconsin State Journal. P.A2].
Deliberation
What starts a geomagnetic storm is an event called solar flares or an extremely large cloud of solar
material called a coronal mass ejection (CME). When these charged particles get near the earth s
magnetic field, due to the increased magnitudes in solar wind, the magnetic field accelerates towards
the geomagnetic poles, therefore causing the phenomena called aurora borealis or northern lights. The
other effect of a magnetic storm causes the geomagnetic field to become highly unstable due to the
change and distribution of density, as a result, the ions in the earth s ionosphere become agitated,
resulting in disorder; a massive disruption in our technical systems [Wisconsin State Journal P.A2].

Public universities have grown from seven public universities in the 1990s to a total of 20 in 2007
(Ministry of Higher Education, 2007). A total of 18 private universities have also been established
during the same period. At the same time, there are more than 500 other institutions, including
university colleges, branch campuses of local and overseas institutions, open universities and other
institutions with non university status. Student enrolment had sky rocketed. In 2002, the total number
of students enrolled in higher institutions was 576,439 and enrolment had increased to 748,797 in

With the expansion of higher education, greater attention has to be paid to the labor market prospects
since imbalances may be created between higher education and labor market demands (Kartz Gerro
Yaish, 2003;
Teichler, 2000). Specifically, there have been concerns about the level of graduate unemployment, the
transition from higher education to work and the problems of job mismatches (Kougioumoutzaki

Although the unemployment rate in Malaysia is always low compared to the United States or
European countries, there are great concerns for unemployment. This is due to the fact that currently,
there is no unemployment insurance or assistance available in the country. Hence an increase in the
unemployment rate may lead to an increased crime rate. In light of the above, this paper focuses on

The Stereotypes Of Crime In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, London was a metropolis with a
high crime rate. From 1745 to 1820, there were 115,000 people who made their living by burglary,
prostitution, swindle and other criminal acts. It is horrible when we know that the total population of
London at that time was just 960,000.
Presumably there was no other novelist in Victoria era that had such a strong concern about crime, and
incorporated so much description of crime in his works as Charles Dickens (1812 1870) did. Oliver
Twist was the second novel of Dickens published in a serial form in a magazine titled Bentleyʼs

The Consequences Of Nuclear Energy And Nuclear Weapons
Mark Z. Jacobson once said Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable
energy and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous
place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand. Nuclear energy is caused when
power plants split uranium atoms inside a reactor in a process called fission. At a nuclear energy
facility, the heat from fission is used to produce steam, which spins a turbine to generate electricity.
True, that if disposed of correctly nuclear could have no harm doesn t mean that there aren t
significant risks to it, However nuclear waste remains radioactive and is very hazardous to health for
thousands of years. Nuclear waste also causes problems such as slowly populating the land , air ,
water , and the human body, it is also contributing to Global Warming through CO2 emissions from
mining, manufacturing it, and etc..., also not to mention the fact that the storing is this waste is very
controversial after all these years. Many people may not realize nuclear energy and nuclear weapons
have been known to have direct correlation. The link between nuclear weapons and civil nuclear
power is often denied by the nuclear energy industry. Nuclear proliferation is the spread of nuclear
weapons and/or nuclear weapons technology, and the civil nuclear industry is more often than not the
main source of proliferation. Nuclear proliferation risks will be among us as long as the civil and
military nuclear industry continue to exist. All the steps of military nuclear energy industry and the
civil nuclear industry from uranium mining to reprocessing all the steps , the only step in the military
industry missing from the civil industry is the actual production of the nuclear weapon. There are
many lies being told in the industry such as saying the plutonium used in civil nuclear power plants
can t be used to make nuclear weapons weapons and that is not true because reactor grade (civil) does
explode just as well in nuclear bombs as weapons grade (military) plutonium. Regardless, the
commercial nuclear industry likes to state that civil nuclear energy has no impact on nuclear
proliferation. To advocate their

The Myth of Individualism
The Myth of Individualism
America is famous for the reputation of being the land of opportunity, and for generations immigrants
have fled to the United States to experience the freedom and equality our government lays claim to.
The fundamental of this reputation is the American Dream, the belief that life should be better and
richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each by hard working regardless of social class or
circumstances of birth(by James Truslow Adams). The American Dream is different for everyone,
though it is most commonly associated with success, freedom, and happiness. The concept of the
American Dream seems to have dwindled from where it was in the past few generations. It has gone

Class distinction provides not only feelings of inferiority for the lower classes, but monetary
inadequacy as well. Higher class children have an advantage from birth since they are guaranteed
large sums of money at some time in their lives. Furthermore, it is known that it takes money to make
money in a capitalistic system and so the inheritance laws only widen the gap between the rich and
poor, keeping the lower class exactly where they started: on the bottom. The American dream can only
offer empty promises of equal opportunity to succeed. People are driven to work hard by the notion of
success without having almost any chance to succeed. However, because the American Dream is so
deeply embedded in our culture, it greatly influences our perception of others and our perception of
success. The all you need is hard work to succeed mindset has encouraged Americans to flaunt costly
possessions to give the persona of a hard worker, while Americans who do not own extravagant
objects are looked at as lazy or incompetent. In reality, most cases are opposite. It is undeniable that an
American laboring long hour for minimum wage works harder than an American who doesn t
maintain a job because he lives off inheritance money, but that is not what the myth has taught us.
Even for those who have completed the American Dream, it s not necessary a happy ending. In the
story Ragged Dick, Horatio Alger writes about a young man s progress from poor background that

Introduction
Prostate cancer (PCa), the development of cancer in the prostate, is one of the most mortal diseases
that threaten men s lives in current world. It is the most commonly diagnosed non skin cancer in the
United States, and it is second leading cause of cancer deaths in American men. Autopsy series have
revealed that small prostatic carcinomas are present in up to 64 percent of men from 60 to 70 years of
age. [1] Most prostate cancers are slow growing, and it causes no symptoms in early stages. Thus,
most patients are found in advanced stage. Older age, race and family background of the disease are
three main factors to increase the risk of the disease. A few other factors are linked to increase the
disease including dietary, medication exposure, viral and sexual factors.
Nanotechnology is a novel technology what generally deals with structures and systems with a size
less than 100nm. [1] Due to its unique tiny size, the properties are quite different from bulk properties

micro economic analysis uncovered that
Indonesia is an attractive market for Wiggo s business expansion though attention should be paid to
infrastructure support, widespread corruption and social stability issue.
Like most Asian countries, Indonesian grocery retail market is far from saturation. There are much
scope for modern format retailers to increase penetration in suburban area and second tier cities.
Competition would be expected in
Wiggo s business segment which is medium supermarket size with the massive local retailer s
expansion. This retail sector will achieve double substantial growth with expected amount of
US$70.73 billion in 2015.
To create and increase brand awareness, make product affordable and appealing for Indonesian market
to capture 1% of market share in 5 years, the following marketing mix is suggested:
1. Product: Localization of products, imitating local supermarket in product selection and store
display, providing fresh food and

Hamlet Appearance Vs Reality Essay
While Hamlet believes that [to] be or not to be, (Shakespeare 3.1. 64), is the question, I would argue
that a larger question exists that remains unanswered: what is? How does one differentiate between
what is real, and what is an illusion created by the depths of the mind? In The Tragedy of Hamlet,
Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, the characters are challenged to constantly distinguish
between what is and what seems the presence of reality or appearance. Reality, in a literal sense, is the
state of things as they actually exist, (Fowler); however, it s possible that existing or not existing is
subjective. Hamlet, the protagonist and tragic hero of the play, interprets a much different reality than
the surrounding characters and devises appearances that drive others away from understanding his
truth; in turn, he is made a pawn in the illusions of others, specifically Gertrude, Claudius, and
Laertes, to the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An event Hamlet views as a battle for honor, Laertes knows is a battle for life, as contact with the
venomous tip of the sword will guarantee imminent death. In the heat of the action, with Hamlet and
Laertes both stung with venom and Queen Gertrude swooning with effect of the poisoned drink,
Laertes claims, I am justly killed with mine own treachery, (Shakespeare 5.2. 337). Laertes faces the
reality that in his own illusion, he has made himself, Gertrude, and Hamlet victims in King Claudius s
power seeking plot, realizing [the] King, the King s to blame, (Shakespeare 5.2. 351). Hamlet,
mourning Gertrude and forgiving Laertes, finally takes action, killing King Claudius by turning his
own weapons of destruction against him. As Hamlet passes from life, the audience is left with one
large, overarching question regarding the reality of the situation: who is

Differences Between Hinduism And Hinduism
Religion is the belief and worship of whatever higher power you choose to server, especially a
personal God or gods. In Judaism, its laws are gotten from the torah and initial five books of
scriptures; they put trust and beliefs in one God whom every one of us are displayed in our own
image. Christianity is like Judaism with one God, however utilizes the entire book of scriptures as a
guide, there are several of contrasts including laws which are available in Judaism and place of love.
Islamic followers or believers then again believe in Allah as their greatest being and the Quran as their
book of confidence or faith. Islamic practices or beliefs are stricter from what they eat, to what they
wear, how many times of day the pray along with other rules. Each one of these religions have their
days of worship and devotions for examples Christianity worship on Sundays, Judaism on Saturdays
and Muslim/Islamic on Fridays. In Buddhism religion, those who believe in it have confidence in
Buddha who was a prophet also compositions in their sacred book. They Believe in reincarnation
(rebirth), suffering, Karma and liberate oneself or way of finding reality. In Hinduism they don t have
a historical founder. Its origins reach back to primitive antiquity. Hindus believe in many Gods, the
two kinds of literature that comes from Hinduism are the Brahmanas and the commentaries called
Upanishads. I believe that an ignorant person would say deep down all religions are the same because

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Analysis
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, a short story by Katherine Anne Porter, describes the last thoughts,
feelings, and memories of an elderly woman. The importance of the title becomes obvious as Granny
Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is bedridden, stubborn,
sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away: Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and
Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will be accepted into heaven. Granny
Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is given. Granny undeniably gets a sign
from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed
away.
Granny has flash backs of her life that goes as far back as 60 years. Hapsy was the one that Granny
wanted. Did you send for Hapsy to? (68) As Granny Weatherall moves closer to death her thoughts
become more scattered. Making connections with her thoughts is possible to conclude that Hapsy is
her favorite daughter that she longs to see once again. Hapsy had been her last born child, that had
passed away. Hapsy melted from within and turned flimsy as gray gauze and the baby was a gauzy
shadow, and Hapsy came up close and said, I thought you d never come, and looked at her very
searchingly and said, You haven t changed a bit! (68) Granny imagines telling Hapsy many things in
Heaven, that she was not able to do so here on earth. Granny was searching for Hapsy. She had to go
long way back through many great rooms to find Hapsy standing with a baby on her arm. (68) Hapsy
was Granny s sign from Christ, but because Granny overlooked this it is a sign of the rejection of the
jilting Granny Weather Courageously faced.
Granny has been through several triumphs in her life. She was about to marry George and he left her
at the altar. After that happened she married and her husband John which passed away. She learned to
be an independent woman that did not rely on anyone. She had fenced in a hundred acres once,
digging the post holes herself and clamping the wires with just a negro boy to help. (67) She did both
chores that the woman and the man would do. At the end, Granny blew out the light in fear of

  • 2. Marketing Simulation Overview Our company Orange experienced a very successful campaign and grew more profitable over the six quarters throughtout the Market Simulation. In terms of market share in comparison to the competition, we placed fourth holding 12 percent market share. We initially targeted the Mercedes market, and later developed products aimed at the Traveler and Workhorse clientele. In terms of profitability, we suffered a loss moving from Quarter 1 to Quarter 2, which is typical of most early stage companies. However, each quarter thereafter we were able to maintain a profit, ending with $18,270,122 gross profit and $15,232,910 operating profit. Our six computer models are the driving factor behind such success. These models include The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately overall Orange only had a 12 percent% overall market share, and felt it was necessary to expand into the portable laptop industry of Traveler with The Babyboard 2.0, and opened a plant in Paris. By Quarter 3, the market size had reached 10,000 customers, which allowed for expansion in the cities of Shanghai and Sao Paulo, and the last target market of Workhorse. The generous rebates were attractive to the target audience, and allowed for the introduction of The Horseboard, The Superboard, and The Toddlerboard. By Quarter 6, a total of 60 sales people had been employed, and due to the overall low prices of the products, as well as the rebates, Orange gained a 2 percent% market share. Financial Performance: Throughout these first phases of our company, Orange has created a positive financial pattern. While we implemented an aggressive growth strategy and expanded our empire internationally, we kept our costs to a minimum. Naturally, we started Quarter 2 with a deficit due to startup costs. Unlike most companies, our costs were controlled however, and we were only behind by just over $12,000. As advertising has always been a core competency of our company, we spent a total of $109,471 developing and promoting our first batch of advertising. The leasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing The Great Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh Introduction: Global accounts of the Great Deluge are documented as history or legend by cultures in nearly all regions on earth. Flood myths are found not only in the current religious doctrines of near eastern societies, but also in those of the ancient civilizations of the world, ranging from the remnants of Ancient Greek and Mesopotamian tablets to the oral traditions of the Maya and Chinese. Of over 500 flood legends from a multitude of different cultures, it seems the most ancient accounts of the Great Deluge date back to the Epic of Gilgamesh from the Ancient Sumerian Civilization. Two of the most popular religions, Christianity and Hinduism, also have accounts of such a devastating flood in their religious scriptures. Although their stories of the Great flood are incredibly similar, they both have differences that reflect the beliefs of their respective cultures, which are in turn reflected in their societies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The similarities, for example, can be explained with the proposition that the Great Deluge was a historic event or with the theory that the flood myths are variations of an original account, which would most likely be the Epic of Gilgamesh. In contrast, the discrepancies between the Hindu and Christian versions of the myths can be explained as varying due to the different beliefs central to their respective religions. Thus, the topic to be explored henceforth is the impact that the differences in the Hindu and Christian cultures had on their retellings of the Great Flood. By completing a thorough analysis of the Great Flood myth, one can gain a better understanding of the beliefs of each culture and how they manifest in their religious manuscripts and affect their societies as a ... • 4. The Time Frame Of Relevance For The American Mafia During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime arose and lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations came to be known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These families , as they were called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed quickly in America, developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal activity. The method of structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob very susceptible to exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many instances of which were eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell in prominence and importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major time frame of relevance for the American Mafia is about 1920 2001. During a time when immigration flourished for the United States, specifically the late 1800s and early 1900s, many people of different backgrounds and ethnicities did as was popular at the time and moved to the fresh land of America, specifically the cities of New York and Chicago, in search of better economic opportunity. The Italians that would eventually come to compose nearly the entirety of the mob were included in this influx of people. To learn about the human species past, we must decipher the clues left behind of how humans used to live. When asked to recreate cave paintings a common drawing some might think of stick figures. The actuality of the cave paintings is that they are incredibly detailed and are able to show the artistic talent of the cavemen and women. In the film Cave of Forgotten Dreams, it focuses on a cave in southern France and the intricate paintings and artifacts found inside. The cave dates to around 30,000 years ago and there is a unique aspect of how everything was preserved. In fact, a ledge of rock fell and cut off the original entrance to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The animals ranged from horses to rhinos, and even cave lions. The drawings were detailed enough to allow scientists to decipher the paintings and learn what they were witnessing at that period of time. Along with the paintings of the animals, bones were found in the cave and that also revealed more about the life in the cave other than just the cavemen and women. Using all of this information given to them, the scientists were able to learn not only how the cavemen and women lived but how animals lived during this time. The drawings in the cave in Southern France seemed to be quite anatomically correct to the animals roaming Earth today. The drawings are so detailed that there is not much hesitation on what type of animal they could have been drawing, it is obvious what their intent was. A surprise regarding the animal paintings was the lack of anything other than mammals. Throughout the cave there were a handful of paintings depicting insects such as butterflies and the one sole drawing of a human, but besides that they animals were mammals. Why these paintings are important depends on who is answering the question. A scientist might answer differently than an art professor who might answer differently than a random civilian. The importance is in what each person gains from these drawings. A scientist can analyze and learn about who lived there and how they looked and acted. • 6. The Themes Of Paranoia And Fear In The Atomic Age The question of whether paranoia and fear were the prevailing mood in America after 1945 is not one that can be answered in a black or white approach. We, as students of the present world, are fortunate enough to be able to take on a zoomed out perspective on this issue; but the same could not be done by Americans who lived through the beginning of the Atomic Age. They had far too little knowledge about an issue that had such overreaching implications; and whatever little knowledge they had were mostly incomplete or distorted. A recurring theme of the film was the mismatch between what the Americans were told by the government, and the actual gravity of the situation. This 2015 film was directed by Rob Letterman, starring Jack Black, Dylan, Minnette, and Odeya Rush. As monsters come out of books, this horror comedy takes it s audience on an action packed adventure. Just as the audience of a book reads between the lines, the audience of a movie uses photography effects to further understand the meaning. Many elements of photography are used to add effect to the events throughout Goosebumps. A teenage boy, Minnette, moves to a small town that is much different than his previous big city. Unhappy about the move, Minnette s character finds a bit of happiness in meeting his neighbor, a beautiful teenage girl. The author of the poem The Raven , Edgar Allan Poe, had to endure several devastating losses throughout his life, including the loss of his mother, his adopted mother, and his wife all to tuberculosis. This intense loss shows very clearly in his different works. The Raven is a poem about a man who has lost the woman he loves and is very lonely until he begins to imagine a Raven and eventually becomes even more depressed. She strives for the lead in Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake, a role that requires her to play both the gentle white swan and the seductive black swan. While she is the perfect representation of the white swan, she is also far from the image of the black swan. After winning the part, stress mounts on Nina to fulfill her role as the black swan. She experiences unwanted sexual advances from her director, jealousy from other ballerinas, as well as increasing conflict from her over controlling mom as she tried to assert her autonomy. Increasing the manganese concentration to 50 ppm recorded the same growth as control and then this rate suddenly decreased with 100 ppm manganese. There is no appreciable difference in growth of Cunninghamella elegans with increasing concentration (1 ppm 100 ppm) of copper and markedly decreased with increasing metal concentration (300 ppm 1000 ppm). In this thread, I will be stating my opinion on spanking a child. Why or why not? I will also be state weather or not the U.S should ban spanking, like many European countries have done. To start what is my position on spanking a child? While many parents tend to agree with the idea of spanking, I myself do not agree with the concept. My reason for this is because many adults say that spanking is a form of discipline. Well if we take a look at the word discipline, it stems from the word disciple, which means to teach. Meaning you don t have to hit a child to get your point across, and all parents do it. Embarrassing a child is a rite of passage as a parent as well as a tool that is 100 percent legal. Now, should the U.S put a ban on spanking a child? My answer for that is no. My reason for this is because as a parent, there isn t a book on parenting, you are pretty much making it up as you go, and if you believe that spanking is the right thing to do. Then it shouldn t be up to the government to tell you how to parent. However, if you are hitting a child to an extensive degree causing physical marks that look 50 shades of purple, or leaving laceration marks from a switch, then you are clearly abusing a child and should be punished accordingly. Now would a law preventing spanking interfere with parenting decisions? Yes and no. • 16. Mechanical And Chemical Digestion Of The Digestive System Digestion is the process of breaking larger food particles into smaller particles that can pass through the plasma membrane. The digestive system is in charge of this process. To begin, the mouth receives food, breaking it into smaller particles by chewing, a form of mechanical digestion with the teeth, for absorption. The tongue aids in this process of chewing and swallowing as a muscular organ. Additionally, the salivary glands in the mouth secrete saliva to help lubricate the food and begin chemical digestion with its digestive enzyme, salivary amylase. Also aiding in chemical digestion in the mouth is mucin. When in the mouth, salivary mucins functions as a protective layer. Once formed into a small rounded mass, called a bolus, the food passes through a sphincter, a muscular ring that regulates the size of an opening, and enters the esophagus, a muscular tube leading to the stomach. No additional digestion occurs here. For the food to travel, it is lubricated with mucus and moved by peristalsis into the stomach. At the end of the esophagus, at the opening to the stomach, is a sphincter. Once in the stomach, a J shaped organ in the upper left region of the abdominal cavity, the food goes through additional mechanical and chemical digestion. The churning action of the stomach muscles physically breaks down the food while the acids and enzymes released help breakdown the nutrients. Geomagnetic storms, also known as a magnetic storm, a solar storm, or space weather is a disturbance in the Earth s magnetic field (magnetosphere) caused by energy and flows of charged elements or plasma from the Sun. Solar storms come in a variety of forms, each capable of distinguishing brands of possible danger. Most magnetic storms are aimed away from Earth, but when a storm positions in our direction, space weathermen begin to analyze what sort of space weather it may produce, and how soon to anticipate the chaos [Wisconsin State Journal. P.A2]. Deliberation What starts a geomagnetic storm is an event called solar flares or an extremely large cloud of solar material called a coronal mass ejection (CME). When these charged particles get near the earth s magnetic field, due to the increased magnitudes in solar wind, the magnetic field accelerates towards the geomagnetic poles, therefore causing the phenomena called aurora borealis or northern lights. The other effect of a magnetic storm causes the geomagnetic field to become highly unstable due to the change and distribution of density, as a result, the ions in the earth s ionosphere become agitated, resulting in disorder; a massive disruption in our technical systems [Wisconsin State Journal P.A2]. From 1745 to 1820, there were 115,000 people who made their living by burglary, prostitution, swindle and other criminal acts. It is horrible when we know that the total population of London at that time was just 960,000. Presumably there was no other novelist in Victoria era that had such a strong concern about crime, and incorporated so much description of crime in his works as Charles Dickens (1812 1870) did. • 36. The Consequences Of Nuclear Energy And Nuclear Weapons Mark Z. Jacobson once said Every dollar spent on nuclear is one less dollar spent on clean renewable energy and one more dollar spent on making the world a comparatively dirtier and a more dangerous place, because nuclear power and nuclear weapons go hand in hand. Nuclear energy is caused when power plants split uranium atoms inside a reactor in a process called fission. At a nuclear energy facility, the heat from fission is used to produce steam, which spins a turbine to generate electricity. True, that if disposed of correctly nuclear could have no harm doesn t mean that there aren t significant risks to it, However nuclear waste remains radioactive and is very hazardous to health for thousands of years. Nuclear waste also causes problems such as slowly populating the land , air , water , and the human body, it is also contributing to Global Warming through CO2 emissions from mining, manufacturing it, and etc..., also not to mention the fact that the storing is this waste is very controversial after all these years. Many people may not realize nuclear energy and nuclear weapons have been known to have direct correlation. The link between nuclear weapons and civil nuclear power is often denied by the nuclear energy industry. Nuclear proliferation is the spread of nuclear weapons and/or nuclear weapons technology, and the civil nuclear industry is more often than not the main source of proliferation. Nuclear proliferation risks will be among us as long as the civil and military nuclear industry continue to exist. All the steps of military nuclear energy industry and the civil nuclear industry from uranium mining to reprocessing all the steps , the only step in the military industry missing from the civil industry is the actual production of the nuclear weapon. There are many lies being told in the industry such as saying the plutonium used in civil nuclear power plants can t be used to make nuclear weapons weapons and that is not true because reactor grade (civil) does explode just as well in nuclear bombs as weapons grade (military) plutonium. Regardless, the commercial nuclear industry likes to state that civil nuclear energy has no impact on nuclear proliferation. To advocate their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Class distinction provides not only feelings of inferiority for the lower classes, but monetary inadequacy as well. Higher class children have an advantage from birth since they are guaranteed large sums of money at some time in their lives. Furthermore, it is known that it takes money to make money in a capitalistic system and so the inheritance laws only widen the gap between the rich and poor, keeping the lower class exactly where they started: on the bottom. The American dream can only offer empty promises of equal opportunity to succeed. People are driven to work hard by the notion of success without having almost any chance to succeed. However, because the American Dream is so deeply embedded in our culture, it greatly influences our perception of others and our perception of success. The all you need is hard work to succeed mindset has encouraged Americans to flaunt costly possessions to give the persona of a hard worker, while Americans who do not own extravagant objects are looked at as lazy or incompetent. In reality, most cases are opposite. It is undeniable that an American laboring long hour for minimum wage works harder than an American who doesn t maintain a job because he lives off inheritance money, but that is not what the myth has taught us. Even for those who have completed the American Dream, it s not necessary a happy ending. In the story Ragged Dick, Horatio Alger writes about a young man s progress from poor background that ... How does one differentiate between what is real, and what is an illusion created by the depths of the mind? In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, the characters are challenged to constantly distinguish between what is and what seems the presence of reality or appearance. Reality, in a literal sense, is the state of things as they actually exist, (Fowler); however, it s possible that existing or not existing is subjective. The importance of the title becomes obvious as Granny Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is bedridden, stubborn, sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away: Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will be accepted into heaven. Granny Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is given. Granny undeniably gets a sign from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed away. Granny has flash backs of her life that goes as far back as 60 years. Hapsy was the one that Granny wanted. Did you send for Hapsy to?
