Spirit Of St. Louis Essay
The Spirit of St. Louis played a major role in aviation history during the 1920s. This single engine
monoplane was custom built for one task only, and that was to fly non stop from Long Island, New
York to Paris, France. In 1919, Raymond Orteig offered a $25,000 pil.z,e to the first aviator that could
navigate across the Atlantic. However, it wasn t until May 12,1927 that this feat was accomplished by
Charles Lindbergh. It required much planning and sponsorships for this non stop transatlantic flight
upon the completion of his of his specialtybuilt plane by Ryan Airlines named the spirit of St. Louis.
This plane served as Lindbergh s life support through night and day and would later make history as
one of ttre best known aircraft in the world. The journey took approximately 33.5 hours and a distance
traveled of 3,600 miles of the entire solo flight. After landing in Paris, Charles Lindbergh had become
an international legend and was an important milestone for aviation industry. Donald A. Hall was the
designer behind the Spirit and worked for Ryan Airlines. officially, the plane wiu known as the Ryan

already broken a standing record for the fastest transcontinental flight. A few days later, Charles
Lindbergh set off from Roosevelt Field on his non stop transatlantic flight to France. He had to fight
sleep deprivation and limited visibility for 33.5 hours sfraight, but on May 20, 1927 Lindbergh landed
safely at l0:22pm on Le Bourget Field, Paris. From that point on Charles Lindbergh would go down in
history as one of the greatest aviators of all time. Now, the spirit of St. Louis lives on to represent that

Leadership Theories Of The Great Man Theory
Leaders are born not mad, I don t fully agree with this statement. I believe that a leader can be born
with leadership traits but will then have to develop these traits and other characteristics and decision
making techniques to become an effective leader. I will justify this by explaining the four main
categories of leadership theories
➢ Great Man Theory
➢ Trait Theory
➢ Behavioral Theory
➢ Contingency theory
Situational theory
Path goal theory
Participation theory model
There are many different leadership theories; these leadership theories can be places into four main
categories:
1. Great Man Theories this theory assumes that leadership can be inherited, that they are born not
taught. The Great Man theory reveals great leaders as heroic, mythic and certain to rise to leadership
when needed. A leader is born with the required core characteristics of a great leader including
confidence, intelligence and social skills. The term Great Man theory was used because at the time
leadership was thought to be a primarily male quality.
2. Trait Theories theories that consider personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders
from non leaders (Robbins, Millett, Maree Boyle Tim Judge, Organisational Behaviour). Personal
traits that are common among successful leaders are:
Drive: having high energy, display initiative and are tenacious
Self confidence: trusting themselves and have confidence in their abilities
Creativity: are creative and original

Deep Sea Biology Research Paper
Imagine being in a boat with four people, watching a monitor that seems black and keeps beeping. The
beeping gets faster and louder and you start to see flecks on the screen, something starts to light up the
black abyss. Suddenly, you are looking at a creature that no one has ever seen before. Some deep sea
creature that you and the team that you are with gets to name and start to immediately research. That is
what a Deep Sea Marine Biologist can do, and that is my dream job.
The best part of being a deep sea biologist, is that there are endless fields to study. You can study
whales or you can study the krill that the whales eat. You can study a clown fish or you can study the
home it lives in. I believe that is what is charming about it all, that there are so many pieces to the
puzzle, and you can pick a little piece of it and make it your entire world. Since I was a child, I have

I thought that I could get into the school, explore the lake and move to the oceans. I came to realize
that it is not that simple. I have met with people, researchers, students and professors that have
continuously told me that it takes complete dedication and even with that, you will come up short.
Usually you would think that a professor would avoid trying to make a student feel defeated, but they
were not wrong. I did my research and I found a person that is working with the fresh water sciences
school. They went to school and got their Ph. D. They dedicated their entire adult life up until that
point to research, and their time is mostly spent sending requests for grants so they can afford to
research. This is related to the lakes, but so many cases are similar with deep sea biologists. Everyone
wants to discover a new legend, but in reality, very little people in the field will because lack of

Traditional Family Model Of One Spouse Working Full Time...
The traditional family model of one spouse working full time outside the home and the other spouse,
usually the mom, staying at home and caring for the children seems to have gone by the wayside
somewhat in the last twenty years. And in a single parent situation, it is nothing short of impossible to
work out such a program. But the need for a consistent adult caregiver in the home for your kids does
not go away. So we have to find alternatives. There are a number of alternatives that can make sure
your kids are cared for and allow you to continue to maintain income, which itself is a critical need of
the house that doesn t go away just because you are a single parent home. Day care for your younger
children is a well known alternative that works well for millions of single parent homes. Sometimes if
you have older children who can care for the younger ones, they can become responsible enough to
manage things between when school lets out and when you get home from work. And in town
relatives can help out too. But even with these fine alternatives, many single moms and dads feel
guilty driving off to work each day leaving their children in these alternative situations. The ideal
situation would be if you could make a good living wage and work from home. You have heard of
people who have worked out such programs so its easy to think, Hey why not me? Its fair question.
Why not you indeed? The truth is that work at home arrangements have become more common than
ever in the

Jekyll And Hyde Differences
There are many differences between the characters in the book Jekyll and Hyde and the movie The
League of Extraordinary Gentleman which portrays Jekyll and Hyde as the movies main characters.
When I watched the movie, I noticed three main differences those are: in the movie they are trying to
use Hyde while in the book they are trying to find and arrest him for murder, Jekyll doesn t hide Hyde
in the movie, and Jekyll doesn t try to control Hyde as much as he does in the book then in the movie.
The first difference that I will focus on is that in the movie they are trying to use Hyde for good and in
the book, they are trying to arrest Hyde for murder. In the book Hyde murders a man by the name of
Sir Danvers Carew. A maid witnesses this

The Social Origins Of Marxism
DOES EXPLORING THE SOCIAL ORIGINS OF MARXISM ASSIST IN UNDERSTANDING ITS
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Marx is credited as being one of the founding fathers of sociology and the social sciences (along with
Durkheim and Weber). Marx lived through the majority of the 19th century (1818 1883), when the
Industrial Revolution and capitalism were at their peak, and his work was a critical analysis of this
relatively new form of society. The aim of this essay is to explore the social origins of Marx s theories
with a look to assess how useful these social origins are when it comes to understanding the strengths
and weaknesses of his theories. I will first briefly describe some of Marx s most well known theories
of Human Nature, the Proletariat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The products of human work are the objectification of an individual s human nature; the individual is
in what he makes and through this objectification we ultimately come to understand ourselves (ibid:
92). Furthermore, the application of the human mind s unlimited conceptual abilities to our work
means an unconstrained life with unlimited possibilities, and therefore work is what liberates the
human. This is how Marx comes to theorise that work is the distinctive essence of his human nature
that sets us apart from all other species.
However, Marx writes that capitalism has warped this sole idiosyncrasy of humans by placing an
individual s work at the center of his/her survival; it has constrained work to the means by which we
survive, just like an animal, hence Marx s assertion that in a capitalist society the individual
erroneously feels most free in the animal aspects of life like eating, sleeping, and propagating: What is
animal becomes human, and what is human becomes animal (Marx, 1964; cited from ibid: 95); Marx
sees this as problematic for society. Free labour can only be achieved once the animal aspects of life
are satisfied (ibid.), but Marx finds this term ironic; free labour refers to the legal right of the
individual to enter a labour

Automotive Maintenance Technician Essay
3521 Automotive Maintenance Technician Good morning Marine, I am Cpl Sanchez and today I will
be talking to you about the Marine Automotive Maintenance Technician, which is military
occupational specialty (MOS) 3521. Making sure the Marines can quickly get where they need to be
while in the field is obviously a high priority and an important job. They make sure all vehicles used
in the field are inspected, maintained and in top condition. This role requires these Marines to be ready
to repair vehicles under a variety of conditions, including combat situations. It s definitely not a basic
grease monkey job but will build on the mechanical skills which many Marines have before they even
enlist. This is just one of the many jobs in the Marine Corps Occupational Career Field of the 3500 s

The Suburban Public School District Essay
Summary of the Case The Suburban Public School District (SPS) is a relatively small district. The
student population has a total of about 11,000 students divided between six elementary schools, two
middle schools, and two high schools. Diversity is not a problem, since the community represents
more than twenty five countries around the world. However, the change readiness of all stakeholders
will be tested due to the district administrators decision of transforming the foreign language
curriculum. From four foreign languages, only English and Spanish will be instructed within a two
years period. This change has created the necessity of re training or let go educators due to need of a
reduction in force (RIF). Nevertheless, the SPS relies on a big and well structured administrative team
who successfully supports every school. The students of the SPS are committed to their success.
Evidence of the academic achievement is that around 80% of the SPS graduate students pursue a
higher education certification or career. There is one public university, one private university, and one
junior college within the community. Additionally, few technological companies are settling in the
zone, which rises the need of skilled workers. These companies are ready to help the SPS in their task
of preparing students with the technological skills needed for those future jobs. All schools in SPS
passed the state tests. However, they had identified a challenge. The students

The Culture Of The Italian Cuisine

Cucina Italiano In the early history of many countries, food always plays an important part in the
development of the country and the economy as well. From starting out simple, the recipes evolve and
spread after being handed down and spoken to others. Food is what defines many cultures, and is able
to bring many people together in many cases. For example, food is what stands a major tradition in
many families, recipes being a secret between the members. This is one way that it plays in
importance in cultures. Italian culture differs from other cultures because the food plays a much more
important part. Italian cuisine has influenced many parts of their own culture, and other cultures
around the world. Food has always played a major part in three major aspects of Italian culture:
history, symbolism, and art.
The history of Italian cuisine revolves around the evolution of what people were compelled to eat
throughout the ages. Once, food was thought to be little more than macaroni or noodles in the Italian
Peninsula. Many factors are considered in the study in the history of cuisine, such as the location,
climate of the area, the cooking methods of that time, religious practices, etc.. Angelo Camillo, a
professor at Woodbury University, explains in his book, An Explorative Study of the Historical
Development and Trend Analysis of Restaurant Cuisine, that The history and evolution of Italian

Why Is Lester Bowles Pearson Important To Canada
Lester Bowles Pearson left the most outstanding and beneficial legacy on Canada. He was our
Canadian Prime Minister from April 22, 1963 to April 20, 1968. Pearson helped make us grow as a
country and brought us together as a nation. Pearson is the reason that Canada has its outstanding flag
and the reason that Canadians have pension plans. Just a few of the important things he did to make
Canada an amazing country were; putting universal Medicare into effect, passing the Royal
Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism, and he helped bring the Canadian and American Auto
Pact into play. These are just a few of the lasting legacies that Lester Boweles Pearson left on our
beautiful home country.

They were at the point where they wanted to be separated from Canada and become their own country
Pearson wanted to control and focus on the strained relationship between Ottawa and Quebec. To do
this, he thought it would be smart to recruit three leading Quebec activists into the Federal
Government so that Quebec could felt they had an important spot in Canada. These three men were
known as the three wise men . Their names were Jean Marchand, Gerald Pelletier, and Jean Marchand.
This shows that Pearson, although he was English Canadian, knew that the French Canadians were a
huge part of making Canada the country that it was. Just because they spoke a different language did
not mean they had any less rights then the English Canadians. Pearson saw this and knew it was his
duty to make the French Canadians welcome in their own home country so they would stop pushing
for separation. This is an important part to Canada s legacy because if Quebec did end up separating
from the rest of Canada, it would have a big impact on everyone. Our country is not that same without
Quebec. Pearson helped keep things calmer between the French Canadians and the English Canadians.
One other great thing that Pearson did for us was he helped create the Canada/USAAuto

Computers Can Not Have Minds
Alan Turing, father of modern computers, created the Turing Machine in order to prove, through the
use of an imitation game, that computers can think. John Searle argued that the Turing Test is simply
just imitating, rather than thinking. Based on Searle s argument against the Turing Test, I think that
computers cannot have minds. Although Turing argues that computers can think, there are many
arguments, such as Searle s Chinese room argument, and defenses that I will present that support
Searle and his belief that computers do not understand the information they simulate and cannot think.
As stated above, the purpose of the Turing Machine is to prove that computers can think. A Turing
Machine is composed of a scanner with a tape made of paper running through it. This paper tape is
divided into squares. Each square on the tape contains a symbol, either a 0 of a 1. The machine, along
with two humans, will participate in an imitation game. Human A and the Turing Machine are hidden
from view of Human B and have a conversation in order for Human B to try to determine which of the
communicators is a robot, if either one is a robot. The machine s goal is to trick Human B into
thinking it (the machine) is the human. Turing states that if the machine is successful, then the
machine does have a mind. Turing s machine has the ability to answer any question presented to it,
and Turing saw this ability as a sign of extreme intelligence. On the other hand, Searle argued that this

New York Stock Exchange Essay
On May 17, 1792 24 stock brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement on Wall Street in New York
City under a Buttonwood tree. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need
for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the
American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock
Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its
present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the
Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they
were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. Over the centuries more companies joined
the exchange with the railroad industry dominating the market through the 20th century. The invention
of the telegraph allowed for easier trading and membership expansion. The current membership is
limited to 1,300. The organization is a nonprofit organization that minimizes fraudulent offers and

Why Is The Screw Sane Or Insane
Sane or Insane?
By Alex Gimenez
Sane or Insane? That is the question, and only the author Henry James knew the answer. There has
been a lot of speculation about The Turn of the Screw, and what makes it so interesting is that Henry
James never tells the reader if the ghosts are real or if the governess is sane or insane. That leaves the
interpretation of the governess mental state up to the reader. The governess is the one that tells most of
the story, and in my opinion, she proves herself to be very unreliable and, therefore, insane. The
reasons why I think the governess was insane are as follows. First, the governess is the only one in the
story who admits to seeing the ghosts. Second, the governess seemed to become very suspicious ...

becomes more suspicious and paranoid, one night Flora sneaks out of bed and is staring out the
window at someone outside. The governess thinks she is staring at the ghost of Miss Jessel, but it is
really Miles. This makes the governess even more convinced that something fishy is going on with
Miles, Flora, and the ghosts. From here on out, things quickly get worse and there is a lot of tension
between the governess and Miles. Then, Flora disappears one day, and is found at the lake where the
governess first saw Miss Jessel. After Flora is found, the governess loses it and wants to know where

Canad A Beneficial Thing
Canada in the early stages was not how it was today, especially in the area of multiculturalism.
Multiculturalism in Canada during the 1900 s was rare and not spoken of. In fact, the British people in
Canada were against it. They came up with laws like the Chinese Head Tax , the Continuous Journey
Regulation and residential schools in order to make it hard for foreigners to come and live in Canada.
After awhile, Canada decided to become an independent country and separated from the British rule .
With this change Canada had a different way of seeing immigrants. They started to see that
immigrants coming to Canada was a beneficial thing. Canada was the first country in the world to
adopt multiculturalism as an official policy. By doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Back then, Canada was an extension of the British rule and was ruled by the whites. Britain being as
powerful as they were in the 1900 s, had a vision of Canada being Home away from home . In other
words, the British wanted Canada to be for just the whites. With this mentality put in their heads the
Canadians started to enforce laws to try and keep Canada as white as possible . One of them was the
Chinese Head Tax which was a tax that was put on every Chinese person that wanted to enter Canada.
At the beginning, when the law was first put in place, it only cost fifty dollars for every Chinese
immigrant. However, as time went on the price multiplied, as it rose to an astonishing five hundred
dollars . This was a huge problem for the Chinese as they did not make a lot of money, they found it
very difficult paying for the head taxes. This resulted in fewer Chinese immigrants coming to Canada,
which was what the Canadians and British wanted to happen. Another law Canada enforced was, the
Continuous Journey regulation which was introduced in the early 1900 s. This law only allowed entry
to Asian passengers that had sailed on a continuous journey from their home land to Canada.
Enforcing this law the government knew that not many Asians would stay on a cramped ship for
several months due to the spread of sicknesses and diseases, so they were satisfied with this law and
were still motivated to keep Canada s immigration levels low. Another act

Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Essay
Positive Feedback and Classroom Environment Student work is typically met by teacher feedback on
a number of important items, including his or her achievement, progress, and skills. How that
feedback is structured and delivered is a matter for debate among educators. The method and type of
feedback teachers use in response to appropriate or inappropriate student behavior shapes the
classroom environment (Conroy, Sutherland, Snyder, Al Hendawi, Vo, 2009). A potential role for
administrators is to prescribe and model effective feedback for teacher use within the classroom. This
administrative role broaches an important question: What constitutes effective feedback? For each

al., 2010).
Effective praise has as much to do with systematic planning as it does with teacher willingness to
engage students in positive discourse. When teachers see a desired behavior exhibited in the
classroom, positive attention must be directed toward it, but the comments must be made with effort
and process in mind rather than overall achievement (Conroy et. al., 2009). Teachers must use praise
to influence students to continue displaying specific social or academic behaviors, but teachers should
initiate praise themselves rather than respond to students requests (Conroy et. al., 2009). In this way
teachers may develop intrinsic motivation in students to learn following recognition for mastery of
classroom tasks (Conroy et. al., 2009). The use of praise can differ, depending on the student, and the
results of praise use may differ in consideration of how praise is used. Many teachers have found that
when praise is used often instructional time increases dramatically along with student feelings of
worthiness and competency (Stormont Reinke, 2009). On the other hand, some believe that
introspection spurred by praise may lead to student attention on personal development rather than in
the context of the task giving way to decreased motivation (Lipnevich Smith, 2009). It is for this
reason credence must be given

Comparing and Contrasting the Views of Christianity,...

Importance: This passage is important to the book because it is a big scene in the book. It is significant
because it shows how he is not really surprised it happened, almost like it happens often.
Analysis: I feel like this passage is worthy of discussion because it is a heavy topic. It impacts the
story because it sets the mood and how the life in this world is. It shows that this type of thing happens
often. It reveals that Mildred is unhappy with her life. I can understand what type of person she is and
I can see how Montag is not really in love with her.

an act of removing her crime s traces. As the spectators acknowledge that she already repents of her
crime and wants to get out of her trap, the narrative helps them to sympathize with the character. The
subsequent shots show Marion s naked body in order. This voyeuristic gaze cannot help but gives the
sense that someone than herself is furtively looking at her even though she is in the most private place.

The space gives a sense of isolation as if she is trapped in the frame. In this moment, she is in the most
venerable state: a naked body in a bathtub. Marion soon is off the frame as the camera zooms into the
black silhouette behind her over the curtain. As the killer opens the curtain, both the backlighting, low
key and hight contrast lighting of the silhouette, which is seen from Marion s point of view, and the
sounds such as the score of screeching violin and Marion s screaming intensifies shock. The
subsequent cuts of close up and extreme close up of her face and mouth adds suspense with the
sounds. The contrast of the eyeline match shots, Norman in a low angle and Marion in a high angle,
reveals that Norman s dominance is over her. The pace of the subsequent shots from the moment
begins to be rapid compared with its of the previous scenes in the film. This rhythmic editing
composed with approximately thirty cuts maximises spectator s suspense, relying on a number of
extreme close ups and point of view shots to represent Marion s shock and

Reza Shah s Abolition Of The Pahlavi Dynasty In Iran
At the turn of 1925, Reza Shah began the Pahlavi dynasty in Iran. He is mostly known for his attempts
in modernizing Iran on the basis of the West. With this in mind, Reza Shah showed some of the
biggest reform movements throughout Iranian society. One reform, such as greater access to higher
education for women at Tehran University, show significant gains compared to previous years in Iran.
One of the biggest points of controversy in the course of Reza Shah s rule was the abolition of the
chador and the enforcement of unveiling. The chador is a traditional staple of women s clothing in
Iranian culture that only shows the face from the brow line, and drapes over the body from head to toe
like a veil. Under the circumstances, unveiling did not

The Political Landscape Of France
The political landscape in France had been shifting for a long time before the Enlightenment. The
economic and military gains made by Louis XIV, the Sun King, ultimately crippled the country later
when the Estates General failed to overthrow the French government democratically and peacefully.
Two great thinkers, Baron de Montesquieu and Jean Jacques Rousseau, both paved the way for the
French and other Enlightenment revolutions during the 18th and 19th centuries. Although neither of
the men saw the manifestations of their ideas in the American or French Revolutions, their influence is
unquestionable to these movements. Without the political and economic atmosphere in France and
Europe during the 18th and 19th century, the ideas and beliefs of thinkers like Montesquieu and
Rousseau would not have affected the Enlightenment or other vital political movements during that
era.
Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de la Brede et de Montesquieu was born the 18th of January 1689.
In this same year, England would undergo the Glorious Revolution, which further removed power
from the monarchy and into Parliament. Ironically, one of Montesquieu s most well known ideas
followed the same vein of thought as the Glorious Revolution. His life began in Southwest France
where Montesquieu grew up with his aristocratic family. As part of his education, Montesquieu
studied law at the Catholic College of Juilly. During this period, some stark changes occurred in
France. In 1715, King Louis XIV

The Total Number Of Clinical Trials
The total number of clinical trials in Portugal has recently experienced a reduction in a
12
13 worrying trend revealing a significant loss of competitiveness in this field. Between 2006 and
14 2012 the number of trials decreased by 26%, i.e. from 160 to 118 studies. The trough in these
16 numbers only arrived in 2011, when just 88 studies took place. This trend shall only either

Today s world can be stressful and fast paced. With work, taking your children to different activities,
shopping, and other time consuming errands, there is nothing we want more than to seek and relax in a
personal, peaceful refuge. And what place is better for relaxing than the in the comfort of your own

Reduce Noise Pollution
After a busy day, the last thing you want to hear when you arrive at your house is the outside noise
coming from traffic, construction, or nearby neighbors. There are many ways to keep the distracting
outside noises from entering your home. Hiring contractors to thickening drywall and seal gaps will
help soundproof the walls and ceilings in your home. Also, the installation of carpeting and other soft
materials can help mute noise from room to room. In addition, to quickly create a more relaxing home
environment, consider moving your television out of the main living space, or wherever you spend the
most time kicking back and relaxing. Televisions invade your space with loud and annoying
commercials, news, and other distracting sounds and images. Sometimes to get the best relaxation you
have to disconnect yourself from media, and having a room that is free

George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis
General George S Patton, also known as Old Blood and Guts, was by far one of the greatest and most
controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his leadership of the
Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for war against the
Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Patton painted himself as an agitator,
which is an individual who speaks of the violation or misappropriation of the present form of society,
but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills (Lowenthal, 1948). According to the
Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits this description quite well,
in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in today s terms as political
correctness. Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak out against public opinion
are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within Blumenson s book, The Patton
Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice:
The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to get
revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It s a choice between them
and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. So do our cousins... (p. 744).
Inarguably, these words written by Patton were possibly some of the most dangerous statements he

Comparing The Parthenon Of Ancient Greece And Rome
Last of all, both of these edifices directly affect the responsibilities of the citizens and what makes the
Greek or Roman. With the massive amount of wealth and power gained by the Athenians the
statement of the Parthenon is a sort of claim of superiority over all other nations and enforces a sort of
national pride on Athenian power. It is an example of their efficiency as a fighting machine. The
reliefs serve as metaphors of triumph over the irrational barbarians and order over chaos that defines
the mindset of Athenian society. Similarly, the Ara Pacis is also a statement of dominance over an
irrational society but the Romans sought to further this by claiming they were saviors, not just
conquerors. Even the name of the monument, Arch of

Different Types Of Valuation Methods
Within the financial sector, there are many different types of valuation methods in which their purpose
is to receive the share price of a company. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the various methods
and the factors that contribute to the outcomes of each one. The context of this paper will be discussed
in the manners of both the positive and negative aspects of each method. With each method, I will also
explain the factors that significantly influence the price of each method used. Currently, Cenovus is
trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange at a value of $17.83. One of the key aspects that I will
acknowledge is that they currently have a long term growth value of 108% and their target price is
$18.55. Other factors can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the most significant downfalls of this method, because you can greatly misprice the
value of the firm without considering the cash flows as well as other variables. Another common
valuation method that one may use is the EV/EBITDA ratio method. This specific method takes into
consideration the value of EBITDA as well as the value of net debt (market value of debt).
Another important consideration that investors must be aware of is the type of depreciation method
that Cenovus uses. Since Cenovus is a large asset company, this is a vital aspect to consider when
using the book value method. If Cenovus depreciates their assets at a faster pace, this will allow
investors to part take in a valuable investment and would cause for a positive pick for their portfolio.
However, if the company depreciates their asset in a slower manner, this could create a higher book
price than what the stock is currently trading at. This may misrepresent the value of the firm to the
investor. Investors should be cautious when considering this type of method for valuing companies.
Therefore, investors should do thorough research in what type of depreciation method Cenovus uses.
The methods include a straight line depreciation or a double declining method. Both have a significant
impact on the share price of the firm when using the book value approach.
One common method within the industry

The Way And The Truth
Introduction What someone believes is an extremely important part of their life. It shapes how that
person thinks, acts, what is said. In short, it influences everything in that person s life. Jesus Christ is
what influences all of my life; He is the foundation on which I place everything else. He is according
to John 14:6 (NIV, 1984.), the way and the truth and the life . Life is important because it is the way in
which we interact with God s world and His people. The teachings of Dewey, Hirsch, and Aquinas are
few philosophical ideas I would incorporate in the classroom by helping students learn through
experience, teaching morals as well as academics, and valuing both Christian and secular material.

The bible is what I base my entire beliefs out of. In the Bible it mentions several times about teaching
and training children. Parents are the main teachers and trainers of their children. However, a teacher
should work in communion with parents and other authorities such as the church to help in teaching
children. Since Jesus calls himself Truth then, according to Zacharias (1994), To restate Jesus absolute
claim that He is the way, the truth, and the life means categorically that anything that contradicts what
He says is by definition false. (pg. 101) This is what I base my beliefs about truth upon. Philosophy of
Schools and Learning Unfortunately, even though Jesus is the one on whom people should base all
truth off from, many do not support that belief. In this world now, Christian truth must be combined
with information and facts from science and the world we live in. Similar to the dualistic views of
Thomas Aquinas (Braley, 2003. pg. 27), educational truth must come from a combination of biblical
truths and scientific facts. He (Aquinas) held that there can be only one truth, part of which is
assessable to human reason and part of which requires faith (Moore Bruder, 2008. pg. 92). We need to
take both secular and biblical views into account in the classroom. For example, if a class were

Nietzsche Said Whoever Fights Monsters Should See To It
Nietzsche said Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a

impure, selfish, or short sighted; they may very well turn out to be the villain. In the classic gothic
novel, The Monk by Matthew Lewis in which several characters motives, lives, and deaths become

There is a sound inserted when the viewer is exposed to Lola Lola as a woman opens up the curtain

the cabaret performances, when Lola Lola steps on stage. The poster on the storefront window is also
displayed from the inside out. Those who view the poster can only visually see it. They cannot touch it
nor grab the poster. They can only simply admire it from the outside. This is representative of Lola
Lola and her performances, where the spectators are only there to see. There is no physical interaction

himself in society. He lived for her and even became part of her show to be with her. The film shows
how people laughed at him for completely losing it over a woman, something that for time has been
inferior to men. Even in present day, women are still given the short end of everything and seen as
inferior. The fact that the professor lost it all over a women represent those men who

Income Smoothing Methods
Introduction How do you explain to an intelligent public that it is possible for two companies in the
same industry to follow entirely different accounting principles and both get a true and fair audit
report? M. Lafferty Nowadays, as our economy is facing possible everyday crises, managers undergo
an increasing pressure in order to keep their company s earnings stable. Shareholders and analysts
expect companies to meet forecasted goals and not to deviate from these. Especially, reliable
companies are to report positive results and shall not present any surprises . Managers therefore often
turn to their accounting departments for help, whose job it then is to improve the bottom line by
changing the information shown in financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, many companies also amortize so called one time expenses by listing them as a capital
expense (on C/F) and paying the cost by amortization, hence improving the company s net income.
The Classification Method This method defines whether or not a transaction is classified as operating
income or non operating income. The Matching Book Method The Matching Book Method allows
managers to decide in which period transactions are to be recorded. Thus, this method is the most
powerful method in income smoothing. The Channel Stuffing Method The Channel Stuffing Method
is a tool used to inflate sales within a company by selling goods to customers that did not order them
in first place. This leads to more positive sales figures at first (which can then be stated) but has
several disadvantages in the long run. Conclusion Smoothing of income is an undeniable practice used
by accountants to favour the companies current needs, therefore it can be showing rather higher or
lower earnings than the actual latter. There are several methods through which this practice is applied
depending on the preferences as well as on the requirements of the people interested in the financial
statements. Approaching income smoothing from the legality perspective, one would surely come by
not only examples of both legal and illegal aspects, but also by a gray area, where it

In other words, what is best and most successful is to never go out of business to have one event s
conclusion lead directly into the next event s preplanning. This is the best way for organizations to
continue to improve, reduce burnout of staff, and break the cycle of reinventing the wheel. In fact, the
more you follow planning as a continuum from one event to the next, the easier it gets to achieve
success. 1. Forming a team and assigning Tasks First, running an event alone can be very difficult, so
it s important to recruit others to help. Be sure the members of the organization are invested in
sponsoring the event. They will be more likely to follow through and participate in all the planning
details if they feel a sense of ownership for the event. Designate a chair person for the event to
coordinate and supervise the entire process. Be sure that all of your team to fill out all the proper
forms and obtain signatures. List the interests, abilities, and talents of the people in the group. For
instances, who like to plan, who are skilled at handling logistics (such as organizing parking,

What Is Kaiser s Legacy
The historic Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center (originally the Oakland Civic Auditorium), has been
the focus of development plans ever since the 215,000 square foot facility closed down in 2004. It s
slated to become office space, but during its heyday, it hosted wrestling competitions, circuses and
Elvis Presley concerts; in 1962, it even welcomed Martin Luther King Jr. to commemorate the
centennial of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Much like the facility itself, its namesake, Henry J. Kaiser, was an important cultural icon during the
20th century. His name is not just associated with the Convention Center, but plastered around
Oakland, on buildings like the Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center and the Kaiser Center
(headquarters of Kaiser Industries).

In fact, his prolificacy would later earn him the nickname America s boldest, most spectacular
entrepreneur.
After forming his first construction company in 1913, Kaiser worked on a number of infrastructural
projects, building dams in California, establishing Mississippi River levees and constructing hundred
of miles of roads. Between 1931 and 1945, he also oversaw the development of the Hoover, Grand
Coulee and Bonneville dams.
However, he is most noted for his contributions to American shipbuilding during World War II, when
he ran seven shipyards (the Kaiser Shipyards) that mass produced Liberty ships in record time. The SS
Robert E. Peary , for instance, was launched from Richmond Shipyard #2 just four days after its keel
was first laid.

How Does Mark Twain Use Humor In Huckleberry Finn
Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was born November 30, 1835 in Florida,
Missouri. Twain is known for his famous works such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The
Adventures of Tom Sawyer. He was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which was his inspiration for the
setting of these two classic novels. His childhood was not the brightest while living in Hannibal, and
he incorporated the hardships he witnessed, as well as indured, into his writing with the use of humor.
By doing so, Mark Twain became a famous American Literature author that impacted society by
providing a new perspective of human nature through his use of humor in his writing.

His work has been exhibited and analyzed by people with all kinds of different perspectives. Although
there are so many perspectives on his work, they are generally similar in the sense that most of the
readers find his stories to be phenomenal. Today, he is praised for his contributions to literature.
Famous author, Ernest Hemingway, even went so far as to announce that all modern American
literature comes from Huckleberry Finn. However, critics were not always so accepting of his work.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is known as the first major novel in which the narrator speaks in
dialect. This new style left some critics appalled by the sudden change in literature that would be
initiated by Twain. If Mr. [Samuel] Clemens [Mark Twain] cannot think of something better to tell our

A Shopper s Drug Mart Queuing System
The topic of this report is an analysis of a Shopper s Drug Mart queuing system. At Shoppers Drug
Mart, there are multiple places where queues are formed; regular check out line, beauty check out line,
at the pharmacy and at the post office. For this analysis, we only looked at the two different check out
lines, the set of regular servers near the front of the store and also the check out line for the beauty
department. At this location, we noticed there were only two cashiers (servers) handling all the
transactions for the regular check out line at the time we went. There was only one cashier (server) at
the beauty department handling all the transactions done for beauty products. While in reality anyone
with any products can check out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How the data was collected was using a stopwatch at 00:00 (zero minutes and zero seconds). The
stopwatch began and we waited for the first customer to arrive. The first customer arrived 00:36 or 36
seconds after the stopwatch began to run, hence that is their inter arrival time. Customer 1 departed at
1:18 from when the stopwatch ran. By taking the difference between the departure clock time and
arrival clock time, service time was calculated. This was done for all 15 customers. Arrival times and
departure timesare in clock time because we observed their arrivals and departures by viewing a
stopwatch. The final clock time noted is 11:36 (so 11 minutes and 36 seconds from when the clock
first began) and that is the same time the final customer (customer 15) departed.
After observing and collecting data regarding the regular check out line, many values were calculated,
including; average arrival rate, average service rate, average expected number of customers in the
system, average expected number of customers in a queue, average expected number of customers in
service, average expected time a customer spends in the system, average expected time a customer
spends waiting in the queue and the average expected time a customer spends being serviced. Because
the regular check out line had 2 servers, the queuing model utilized was M/M/2/GD/∞/∞.
Table 2 below once again illustrates the exponential data (See Appendix Figure 2) physically

This single engine monoplane was custom built for one task only, and that was to fly non stop from Long Island, New York to Paris, France. In 1919, Raymond Orteig offered a $25,000 pil.z,e to the first aviator that could navigate across the Atlantic. However, it wasn t until May 12,1927 that this feat was accomplished by Charles Lindbergh. It required much planning and sponsorships for this non stop transatlantic flight upon the completion of his of his specialtybuilt plane by Ryan Airlines named the spirit of St. Louis. This plane served as Lindbergh s life support through night and day and would later make history as one of ttre best known aircraft in the world. The journey took approximately 33.5 hours and a distance traveled of 3,600 miles of the entire solo flight. After landing in Paris, Charles Lindbergh had become an international legend and was an important milestone for aviation industry. Donald A. • 3. Leadership Theories Of The Great Man Theory Leaders are born not mad, I don t fully agree with this statement. I believe that a leader can be born with leadership traits but will then have to develop these traits and other characteristics and decision making techniques to become an effective leader. I will justify this by explaining the four main categories of leadership theories ➢ Great Man Theory ➢ Trait Theory ➢ Behavioral Theory ➢ Contingency theory Situational theory Path goal theory Participation theory model There are many different leadership theories; these leadership theories can be places into four main categories: 1. Great Man Theories this theory assumes that leadership can be inherited, that they are born not taught. The Great Man theory reveals great leaders as heroic, mythic and certain to rise to leadership when needed. A leader is born with the required core characteristics of a great leader including confidence, intelligence and social skills. The term Great Man theory was used because at the time leadership was thought to be a primarily male quality. 2. Trait Theories theories that consider personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders from non leaders (Robbins, Millett, Maree Boyle Tim Judge, Organisational Behaviour). Personal traits that are common among successful leaders are: Drive: having high energy, display initiative and are tenacious Self confidence: trusting themselves and have confidence in their abilities Creativity: are creative and original ... The beeping gets faster and louder and you start to see flecks on the screen, something starts to light up the black abyss. Suddenly, you are looking at a creature that no one has ever seen before. Some deep sea creature that you and the team that you are with gets to name and start to immediately research. That is what a Deep Sea Marine Biologist can do, and that is my dream job. The best part of being a deep sea biologist, is that there are endless fields to study. You can study whales or you can study the krill that the whales eat. You can study a clown fish or you can study the home it lives in. • 5. Traditional Family Model Of One Spouse Working Full Time... The traditional family model of one spouse working full time outside the home and the other spouse, usually the mom, staying at home and caring for the children seems to have gone by the wayside somewhat in the last twenty years. And in a single parent situation, it is nothing short of impossible to work out such a program. But the need for a consistent adult caregiver in the home for your kids does not go away. So we have to find alternatives. There are a number of alternatives that can make sure your kids are cared for and allow you to continue to maintain income, which itself is a critical need of the house that doesn t go away just because you are a single parent home. Day care for your younger children is a well known alternative that works well for millions of single parent homes. Sometimes if you have older children who can care for the younger ones, they can become responsible enough to manage things between when school lets out and when you get home from work. And in town relatives can help out too. But even with these fine alternatives, many single moms and dads feel guilty driving off to work each day leaving their children in these alternative situations. The ideal situation would be if you could make a good living wage and work from home. You have heard of people who have worked out such programs so its easy to think, Hey why not me? Its fair question. Why not you indeed? The truth is that work at home arrangements have become more common than ever in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Social Origins Of Marxism DOES EXPLORING THE SOCIAL ORIGINS OF MARXISM ASSIST IN UNDERSTANDING ITS STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES? Marx is credited as being one of the founding fathers of sociology and the social sciences (along with Durkheim and Weber). Marx lived through the majority of the 19th century (1818 1883), when the Industrial Revolution and capitalism were at their peak, and his work was a critical analysis of this relatively new form of society. The aim of this essay is to explore the social origins of Marx s theories with a look to assess how useful these social origins are when it comes to understanding the strengths and weaknesses of his theories. I will first briefly describe some of Marx s most well known theories of Human Nature, the Proletariat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The products of human work are the objectification of an individual s human nature; the individual is in what he makes and through this objectification we ultimately come to understand ourselves (ibid: 92). Furthermore, the application of the human mind s unlimited conceptual abilities to our work means an unconstrained life with unlimited possibilities, and therefore work is what liberates the human. This is how Marx comes to theorise that work is the distinctive essence of his human nature that sets us apart from all other species. However, Marx writes that capitalism has warped this sole idiosyncrasy of humans by placing an individual s work at the center of his/her survival; it has constrained work to the means by which we survive, just like an animal, hence Marx s assertion that in a capitalist society the individual erroneously feels most free in the animal aspects of life like eating, sleeping, and propagating: What is animal becomes human, and what is human becomes animal (Marx, 1964; cited from ibid: 95); Marx sees this as problematic for society. Free labour can only be achieved once the animal aspects of life are satisfied (ibid.), but Marx finds this term ironic; free labour refers to the legal right of the individual to enter a labour ... The student population has a total of about 11,000 students divided between six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. Diversity is not a problem, since the community represents more than twenty five countries around the world. However, the change readiness of all stakeholders will be tested due to the district administrators decision of transforming the foreign language curriculum. From four foreign languages, only English and Spanish will be instructed within a two years period. This change has created the necessity of re training or let go educators due to need of a reduction in force (RIF). Nevertheless, the SPS relies on a big and well structured administrative team who successfully supports every school. The students of the SPS are committed to their success. Evidence of the academic achievement is that around 80% of the SPS graduate students pursue a higher education certification or career. There is one public university, one private university, and one junior college within the community. Additionally, few technological companies are settling in the zone, which rises the need of skilled workers. These companies are ready to help the SPS in their task of preparing students with the technological skills needed for those future jobs. All schools in SPS passed the state tests. • 10. The Culture Of The Italian Cuisine Ethan Smith Professor Piazza Italian 21 9 December 2016 Cucina Italiano In the early history of many countries, food always plays an important part in the development of the country and the economy as well. From starting out simple, the recipes evolve and spread after being handed down and spoken to others. Food is what defines many cultures, and is able to bring many people together in many cases. For example, food is what stands a major tradition in many families, recipes being a secret between the members. This is one way that it plays in importance in cultures. Italian culture differs from other cultures because the food plays a much more important part. Italian cuisine has influenced many parts of their own culture, and other cultures around the world. Food has always played a major part in three major aspects of Italian culture: history, symbolism, and art. The history of Italian cuisine revolves around the evolution of what people were compelled to eat throughout the ages. Once, food was thought to be little more than macaroni or noodles in the Italian Peninsula. Many factors are considered in the study in the history of cuisine, such as the location, climate of the area, the cooking methods of that time, religious practices, etc.. He was our Canadian Prime Minister from April 22, 1963 to April 20, 1968. Pearson helped make us grow as a country and brought us together as a nation. Pearson is the reason that Canada has its outstanding flag and the reason that Canadians have pension plans. Just a few of the important things he did to make Canada an amazing country were; putting universal Medicare into effect, passing the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism, and he helped bring the Canadian and American Auto Pact into play. These three men were known as the three wise men . Their names were Jean Marchand, Gerald Pelletier, and Jean Marchand. This shows that Pearson, although he was English Canadian, knew that the French Canadians were a huge part of making Canada the country that it was. Just because they spoke a different language did not mean they had any less rights then the English Canadians. Pearson saw this and knew it was his duty to make the French Canadians welcome in their own home country so they would stop pushing for separation. This is an important part to Canada s legacy because if Quebec did end up separating from the rest of Canada, it would have a big impact on everyone. Our country is not that same without Quebec. • 14. Computers Can Not Have Minds Alan Turing, father of modern computers, created the Turing Machine in order to prove, through the use of an imitation game, that computers can think. John Searle argued that the Turing Test is simply just imitating, rather than thinking. Based on Searle s argument against the Turing Test, I think that computers cannot have minds. Although Turing argues that computers can think, there are many arguments, such as Searle s Chinese room argument, and defenses that I will present that support Searle and his belief that computers do not understand the information they simulate and cannot think. As stated above, the purpose of the Turing Machine is to prove that computers can think. A Turing Machine is composed of a scanner with a tape made of paper running through it. This paper tape is divided into squares. Each square on the tape contains a symbol, either a 0 of a 1. The machine, along with two humans, will participate in an imitation game. Human A and the Turing Machine are hidden from view of Human B and have a conversation in order for Human B to try to determine which of the communicators is a robot, if either one is a robot. The machine s goal is to trick Human B into thinking it (the machine) is the human. Turing states that if the machine is successful, then the machine does have a mind. Turing s machine has the ability to answer any question presented to it, and Turing saw this ability as a sign of extreme intelligence. On the other hand, Searle argued that this ... The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. There has been a lot of speculation about The Turn of the Screw, and what makes it so interesting is that Henry James never tells the reader if the ghosts are real or if the governess is sane or insane. That leaves the interpretation of the governess mental state up to the reader. The governess is the one that tells most of the story, and in my opinion, she proves herself to be very unreliable and, therefore, insane. After awhile, Canada decided to become an independent country and separated from the British rule . With this change Canada had a different way of seeing immigrants. Britain being as powerful as they were in the 1900 s, had a vision of Canada being Home away from home . In other words, the British wanted Canada to be for just the whites. With this mentality put in their heads the Canadians started to enforce laws to try and keep Canada as white as possible . One of them was the Chinese Head Tax which was a tax that was put on every Chinese person that wanted to enter Canada. At the beginning, when the law was first put in place, it only cost fifty dollars for every Chinese immigrant. However, as time went on the price multiplied, as it rose to an astonishing five hundred dollars . This was a huge problem for the Chinese as they did not make a lot of money, they found it very difficult paying for the head taxes. This resulted in fewer Chinese immigrants coming to Canada, which was what the Canadians and British wanted to happen. Another law Canada enforced was, the Continuous Journey regulation which was introduced in the early 1900 s. This law only allowed entry to Asian passengers that had sailed on a continuous journey from their home land to Canada. When teachers see a desired behavior exhibited in the classroom, positive attention must be directed toward it, but the comments must be made with effort and process in mind rather than overall achievement (Conroy et. al., 2009). Teachers must use praise to influence students to continue displaying specific social or academic behaviors, but teachers should initiate praise themselves rather than respond to students requests (Conroy et. al., 2009). In this way teachers may develop intrinsic motivation in students to learn following recognition for mastery of classroom tasks (Conroy et. al., 2009). The use of praise can differ, depending on the student, and the results of praise use may differ in consideration of how praise is used. Many teachers have found that when praise is used often instructional time increases dramatically along with student feelings of worthiness and competency (Stormont Reinke, 2009). On the other hand, some believe that introspection spurred by praise may lead to student attention on personal development rather than in the context of the task giving way to decreased motivation (Lipnevich Smith, 2009). (11) Situation: In this passage, he just found his wife after she overdosed. He was looking at her and describing how her face was white by saying it was like a snow covered island . Importance: This passage is important to the book because it is a big scene in the book. It is significant because it shows how he is not really surprised it happened, almost like it happens often. Analysis: I feel like this passage is worthy of discussion because it is a heavy topic. It impacts the story because it sets the mood and how the life in this world is. It shows that this type of thing happens often. It reveals that Mildred is unhappy with her life. I can understand what type of person she is and I can see how Montag is not really in love with her. Entry 2: Passage: Are you happy? she said. Am I what? he cried. But she was gone running in the moonlight. Her front door shut gently. Happy! Of all the nonsense. He stopped laughing.(7 8) Situation: In this part of the book, Clarisse asked Montag if he was happy. He answered happy, however he started to think if he really was happy. The music, which began right after Marion and Norman s conversation, adds a sense of obscurity. This sense of anxiety which spreads over the scene, however, seems to be relieved as the music is stopped when Marion flushed the toilet with her notes as an act of removing her crime s traces. As the spectators acknowledge that she already repents of her crime and wants to get out of her trap, the narrative helps them to sympathize with the character. The subsequent cuts of close up and extreme close up of her face and mouth adds suspense with the sounds. • 25. The Political Landscape Of France The political landscape in France had been shifting for a long time before the Enlightenment. The economic and military gains made by Louis XIV, the Sun King, ultimately crippled the country later when the Estates General failed to overthrow the French government democratically and peacefully. Two great thinkers, Baron de Montesquieu and Jean Jacques Rousseau, both paved the way for the French and other Enlightenment revolutions during the 18th and 19th centuries. Although neither of the men saw the manifestations of their ideas in the American or French Revolutions, their influence is unquestionable to these movements. Without the political and economic atmosphere in France and Europe during the 18th and 19th century, the ideas and beliefs of thinkers like Montesquieu and Rousseau would not have affected the Enlightenment or other vital political movements during that era. Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de la Brede et de Montesquieu was born the 18th of January 1689. In this same year, England would undergo the Glorious Revolution, which further removed power from the monarchy and into Parliament. Ironically, one of Montesquieu s most well known ideas followed the same vein of thought as the Glorious Revolution. • 30. George S. Patton Rhetorical Analysis General George S Patton, also known as Old Blood and Guts, was by far one of the greatest and most controversial generals within the U.S army during World War 2. Renowned for his leadership of the Third Army, he was the center of controversy, such as the time when he called for war against the Soviets (Wilcox, 2010, p. 112). In doing this, General George S. Patton painted himself as an agitator, which is an individual who speaks of the violation or misappropriation of the present form of society, but he does not hold it ultimately responsible for social ills (Lowenthal, 1948). According to the Portrait of the American Agitator, the average agitator George S. Patton fits this description quite well, in the sense that he refused to capitulate to what could be deemed in today s terms as political correctness. Unfortunately, as history has demonstrated, those who speak out against public opinion are often scorned, ostracized and even subject to violence. Within Blumenson s book, The Patton Papers, George S. Patton shares his unpopular opinion of the Germans in a letter to his wife Beatrice: The stuff in the papers about fraternization is all wet... All that sort of writing is done by Jews to get revenge. Actually the Germans are the only decent people left in Europe. It s a choice between them and the Russians. I prefer the Germans. This is one of the most significant downfalls of this method, because you can greatly misprice the value of the firm without considering the cash flows as well as other variables. Another common valuation method that one may use is the EV/EBITDA ratio method. This specific method takes into consideration the value of EBITDA as well as the value of net debt (market value of debt). Another important consideration that investors must be aware of is the type of depreciation method that Cenovus uses. Since Cenovus is a large asset company, this is a vital aspect to consider when using the book value method. If Cenovus depreciates their assets at a faster pace, this will allow investors to part take in a valuable investment and would cause for a positive pick for their portfolio. However, if the company depreciates their asset in a slower manner, this could create a higher book price than what the stock is currently trading at. This may misrepresent the value of the firm to the investor. Investors should be cautious when considering this type of method for valuing companies. Therefore, investors should do thorough research in what type of depreciation method Cenovus uses. The methods include a straight line depreciation or a double declining method. The building in the very back appears to be a church or synagogue or some sort. The church being depicted can be associated with morality which is a constant theme being shown through the characters in the film. Morality in this film is very present ... The opening of the storefront can be representative of the opening of the curtain at the cabaret performances, when Lola Lola steps on stage. The poster on the storefront window is also displayed from the inside out. Those who view the poster can only visually see it. They cannot touch it nor grab the poster. They can only simply admire it from the outside. This is representative of Lola Lola and her performances, where the spectators are only there to see. There is no physical interaction with any of the girls in the cabaret performances, which is represented through how the poster is displayed only for the eye. The poster is also an unrealistic image of Lola Lola, showing how she artificially is. The poster of Lola Lola is looking up at her like if she was a goddess. Her long legs make up more than half of the poster showing that she is up on some pedestal from everyone else. There are some clouds behind her to show that being with her or around her is like being up in heaven. There are also what appear to be two little cupids tugging at her from opposite ends. They are representative of the amounts of men that want her and try to do the most for her. They are also shown as childlike to depict the behaviors the men have when they are with her. As if they were to lose themselves, to her just like Dr. Rath did. He completely forgot who he was and how he comported himself in society. He lived for her and even became part of her show to be with her. The film shows how people laughed at him for completely losing it over a woman, something that for time has been inferior to men. Even in present day, women are still given the short end of everything and seen as inferior. The fact that the professor lost it all over a women represent those men who ... At Shoppers Drug Mart, there are multiple places where queues are formed; regular check out line, beauty check out line, at the pharmacy and at the post office. For this analysis, we only looked at the two different check out lines, the set of regular servers near the front of the store and also the check out line for the beauty department. At this location, we noticed there were only two cashiers (servers) handling all the transactions for the regular check out line at the time we went. There was only one cashier (server) at the beauty department handling all the transactions done for beauty products. While in reality anyone with any products can check out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How the data was collected was using a stopwatch at 00:00 (zero minutes and zero seconds). The stopwatch began and we waited for the first customer to arrive. The first customer arrived 00:36 or 36 seconds after the stopwatch began to run, hence that is their inter arrival time. Customer 1 departed at 1:18 from when the stopwatch ran. By taking the difference between the departure clock time and arrival clock time, service time was calculated. This was done for all 15 customers. Arrival times and departure timesare in clock time because we observed their arrivals and departures by viewing a stopwatch. The final clock time noted is 11:36 (so 11 minutes and 36 seconds from when the clock first began) and that is the same time the final customer (customer 15) departed. After observing and collecting data regarding the regular check out line, many values were calculated, including; average arrival rate, average service rate, average expected number of customers in the system, average expected number of customers in a queue, average expected number of customers in service, average expected time a customer spends in the system, average expected time a customer spends waiting in the queue and the average expected time a customer spends being serviced. Because the regular check out line had 2 servers, the queuing model utilized was M/M/2/GD/∞/∞. Table 2 below once again illustrates the exponential data (See Appendix Figure 2) physically ...
