Quality Home Inspection
A thorough home inspection by an experienced professional provides an in depth evaluation of the
structure of a home, including any issues that may ultimately impact its safety and value. An
evaluation by an experienced home inspector should take at least two hours, or perhaps more for an
older home or a building with obvious maintenance issues. Magnolia Property Consultants, LLC,
Nashville home inspectors with extensive construction experience, explain what you can expect from
each of their inspections.
A quality home inspection should include every aspect of the property in questions, including:

Pain Case Study
Pain is often related to increased anxiety, sleep disorder, depression and lower quality of life (Tsao,
Plankey Young, 2012). According to Beavers, Giggey Tepe (2009), the prevalence of chronic pain
together with a mental disorder is 30%, which doubles the percentage of individuals without a mental
disorder. Sun et al. (2013) compared the therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture and fluoxetine on
the depressive disorder (MDD). The study demonstrated that electroacupuncture treatment had a faster
improvement rate that treatment with fluoxetine (antidepressant drug; Sun et al., 2013). The
effectiveness of electroacupuncture may be associated with the alteration of Glial Cell Line derived

The most common users of CAM are women, people with higher education, and those who used
allopathic medicine (Najm, Reinsch, Hoehler, Tobis, 2003). In addition, CAM use is higher among
people living in rural areas than urban areas (Marshik et al,. 2016). CAM utilization can be associated
with psychosocial factors, ethnic and cultural characteristic, availability of health care resources, and
individual perception of physical and medical condition (Saunjoo Jeong Hee, 2013). The range of
CAM treatments includes acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga, herbal medicine, chiropractic, and
homeopathy (Walker et al,. 2017). The increased use of CAM among the general community has been
attributed to the view that CAM is safer and less expensive than conventional medications. However,
there has been largely a lack of scientific data surrounding CAM therapies, influenced by variation in
knowledge level and lack of appreciation of existing evidence (Walker et al,. 2017). Knupp, Esmail
Warren (2009) indicated that occupational therapy and CAM focus on actively engaging the patient in
their treatment to involve the whole person, in order to increase the quality of life and overall health.
Knupp, Esmail Warren (2009) conducted a study to report on the percentage of Canadian occupational
therapists, who are either providing referrals to CAM or using some type of CAM. The groups

c. Conducting Research
This is perhaps the most important step in the research paper writing process. Your research not only
provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic, but also
will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed below are several
important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later confusion, begin each
section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page numbers (if relevant). * As you
examine each source, record important or unique notions which you may wish to incorporate within
your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments of each source by including a descriptive
heading after the citation. This will aid you in more quickly and easily distinguishing between sources
in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to group sources into categories based on more refined
topics. * In order to diminish the risk of plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments
of the text from sources without properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to
directly quote an author, clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page
number on which this information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that
an idea or criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple

The Relationship Between E. Coli Growth
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a bacteria that commonly live in the gastrointestinal tract of humans
making it relevant to our population. The majority of E. coli strains is harmless, but it has the potential
to form a potent strain that possesses serious health risks. When encountering this potent strain, one
can experience health problems such as diarrhea or urinary tract infections. It is important to be able to
determine when someone is being affected by the harmful strains of E. coli and how antibiotics affect
them in order to keep the strain from cultivating further. Current scientific knowledge about the
relationship between E. coli growth and antibiotics supports the idea that with the presence of
antibiotics, the growth of E. coli is

The Doolittle Raid
When most people think about the top school in the world for math, science, engineering and
technology, they usually think of Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has its perks, but there are such better
options, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or commonly known as MIT. According to
the name, MIT is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The school is considered one of the hardest
schools in the US to get into, have an acceptance rate of 7.9%, and the average GPA is around 4.13,
but it is highly worth your while. A lot of famous people have gone to MIT. An example of a
successful leader who went to MIT was James Doolittle, the leader of the Doolittle Raid
(http://archive.boston.com/lifestyle). The Doolittle raid was one of the most famous raids in the
history of WW2, mental scarring the Japanese, while not doing that much damage to the actual
landscape. Then we have Buzz Aldrin, who also went to MIT. If you don t know who Buzz Aldrin is,
he was the second person to walk on the moon. There is also Richard Feynman, who studied
theoretical physic, and Andrew Wong, the CEO of Sony. As you can see with these famous people,

Metaphors And Figurative Language
Literature Review
Nowadays, metaphor is considered as influential in our everyday life and its traces are not only
evident in the language but also in thought and action. The function of metaphor in language, culture,
and thought has been viewed by various disciplines (Tendahl and Gibbs, 2008). In the discipline of
linguistics, in particular, metaphor and figurative language have long been the subject of studies from
many different perspectives. From a cognitive linguistic perspective, metaphor is a mental mapping
(p. 1825) in the cognitive processes of thinking and reasoning of people in their everyday life (Tendahl
and Gibbs, 2008). As noted by Tendahl and Gibbs (2008), the last century ended up with its
revolutionary studies on metaphor, most significantly in the realm of cognitive science. They discuss a

We can find several theories in the discipline of Linguistics including relevance theory. Relevance
theory, originally proposed by Sperber and Wilson (1986 1987), is discussed in detail by Tendahl and
Gibbs (2008). According to Tendahl and Gibbs, relevance theory complements cognitive linguistics in
defining metaphor and its functioning. As they point out, in a cognitive linguistic perspective, people
use metaphors in their language because they think metaphorically and different language
configurations are viewed as conceptual processing mechanisms (p. 1825) where an operation of
mapping the concepts in the mind of speakers occurs (Tendahl and Gibbs, 2008). In their view,
relevance theory, both by its encoding and decoding pattern of thought communication and by its view
at the intended meaning in a certain context of communication, also has a cognitive look at language
and mind, or more specifically at communication and thought. We can clearly see such cognitive
perspective in relevance theory as suggested by Sperber and Wilson

Essay On Self Reflection
Self Reflection Essay For this semester, I wanted to steer away from my usual topic of sports for
research and focus on other aspects of my life that impact me personally. I then began to think about
all the other things in my life that I do on a dialy basis, and that s when music came into mind.
Listening to music is a part of my life that I use to help relieve my stress, stay focused while doing
other tasks, or just to fill quiet space when I am by myself. I chose to focus on Alicia Keys because I
have been listening to her music for as long as I can remember, and her very inspirational persona was
always intruiging to me. I wanted to find out more about her advocational identity and compare it to
the details behind her musical title and see which side was more beneifcial to our society as a whole.
However, since she also is considered a celebrity figure, I was worried that the information I would be
looking for would be invalid or biased. When it comes to my presentation skills, I believe I have
improved greatly and my strengths are now starting to outweigh my weaknesses, especially regarding
how I physically speak about my choice of a topic compared to the overall setup of my actual
presentatiom. Although I have improved tremendously over the past three semesters of ALARP, there
are still some spots and skills that appeared in my final speech that I can adjust to make my
presentations even better. These include my volume, tone, and my eye contact. For example, as I

The Justice And Restorative Justice
Punishment is not necessarily the answer for young offenders, as crime is a gesture for help in many
cases, and punishment focused approaches don t allow young individuals the chance to understand the
implications of their actions through a victim s perspective (Choi, Green, and Gilbert 337). Policies
and practices for youths need to fulfill more than entrapment and punishment, providing rationale for
restorative justice (337). Crimes committed by young individuals are often minor, first time acts which
can be mediated and addressed through the proactive administration of restorative rehabilitation,
which often prevents recidivism. Restorative justice is a process where all parties involved in a
particular offense come together in order to collectively resolve the aftermath and future implications
of the specific crime (Roche 343). Restorative justice is the the ideal response for the majority of
youth involved in criminal activity, as it s a rehabilitative method that produces positive healing
processes and outcomes, especially in comparison to retributive justice approaches.
Martin Wright explains that restorative justice involves a fundamental change in the response a society
has towards individuals who harm one another. Wright elaborates that this terminology shifts the
meaning of crime, stressing the fact that people are harmed, rather than a crime was broken (Wright
216). This highlights the ultimate source of restorative justice, and its strong relationship with

How Does Voltage Gated Sodium Ions Move Into Sodium Channels
The way a signal starts in the motor neuron is by way of a stimulus activating sensory neurons. This
signal travels by way of the axon that contains schwann cells. The signal continues to move into the
CNS, which causes signal to be sent to interneurons. The interneurons can send the signal through the
peripheral system or to the brain via the spinal cord.
When a skeletal muscle fires it is caused by a signal in a motor neuron. Voltage gated sodium channels
open up after a threshold stimulus of 55mV is reached. Next, Sodium ions move into the cell
membrane, thus depolarizing the cell at +30mV, which is its action potential. Sodium channels close
and Potassium channels open. Potassium moves out, which repolarizes the cell. Hyperpolarization

Women In Fantomina
TITLE
Fantomina, written by Eliza Haywood in 1725, elicits revolutionary topics calling into question the
woman s role in patriarchal societies and their lack of sexual freedom. Distinguished in the genre of
amatory fiction, Haywood covers the transformation of the eighteenth century protagonist, from a
young lady of distinguished birth (Haywood 632), to a series of different persona s, including a
prostitute, maid, widow, and an anonymous woman, in Fantomina. The reader is constantly aware of
who the protagonist claims to be under disguise, but the original identity of the protagonist is left
fairly nonexistent. Rather than remaining the mold of her original identity, the protagonist of
Haywood s novel consciously chooses to take the disguise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Anti masqueraders spread their opinions through writing, comparing this form of entertainment to vile
forms of promiscuity and prostitution. Well known figures of the time, such as Alexander Pope,
William Hogarth, and Henry Fielding, worried that the masquerade would compromise highly held
values in society. Women saw the mask as a symbol of protection their reputations at the same time as
satisfying human curiosity. Anti masquerading men held the view that every woman under the mask
was comparable to a prostitute. Every time women masked their identities, they were in a way taking
on the possibility of experiencing backlash or negative consequence. Haywood s plot operates around
the concept of masquerading and with each persona taken on, Fantomina also puts herself in the
position of discovery. As the novel comes to a close, the protagonists masquerade is brought to an end
when her pregnancy can no longer be hidden. This does not necessarily mean that Fantomina is unable
to manipulate the patriarchal society in which she resides, gaining and maintaining control, while
achieving gratification of her own

Last, and most important, is that studies have not shown that more hours spent on homework leads to
more knowledge. Time spent on homework does not correlate to better test scores. Some students can
spend twice as much time as others and still not do as well. Grades do not necessarily improve with
more hours of homework. In conclusion, homework for high school students is not necessary. Time is
better spent getting exercise, working off stress and interacting with others.
Choose one of the following topics to address in your paper. Be sure to use specific reasons/examples
to support your point. Colorize your rough draft.

of the body. This system consists of bones, tendons, ligaments, joints, nerves, muscles, and how they

Orthopedic surgeons use a variety of tests, such as x rays, blood tests, and cat scans to diagnose and

of the general physiology and anatomy of the human body. Therefore one must also have a complete

must be able to work through a day with little to no sleep and make decisions when put under intense

Weight Watchers Case Study
Weight Watchers: Background and Effectiveness among Individuals Participating in the Program
Weight Watchers is a program diet founded by Jean Nidetch in the early 60 s in Queens, NY (Weight
Watchers 2017). Weight Watchers is a popular diet program that was created to help individuals lose
unwanted weight and develop a healthier lifestyle while maintaining a flexible food menu and
exercise plan. Weight Watchers is also a unique weight loss program because they offer different
opportunities for participants to meet with a group of like members who are also in the program in
locations near them. Jean Nidetch founded Weight Watchers in her living room when she was
discussing her struggles with weight loss with her friends and decided to make different lifestyle
choices to help her shed the weight that she did not want (Weight Watchers 2017). Nidetch began a
business administration course at City college of New York briefly before her father passed, which
caused her to drop out of school to find an occupation. She worked in different small stores and
companies before she was able to create Weight Watchers where her success began. An interesting
factor of the creation of the Weight Watchers program is the lack of credentials that Nidetch had to
develop a diet plan that many others would begin to participate in. Although Nidetch did not have an
educated background of nutrition, she was able to create a diet program where individuals are able to

Geothermal Energy Essay
Geothermal Energy
The human population is currently using up its fossil fuel supplies at staggering rates. Before long we
will be forced to turn somewhere else for energy. There are many possibilities such as hydroelectric
energy, nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and geothermal energy to name a few. Each one of
these choices has its pros and cons. Hydroelectric power tends to upset the ecosystems in rivers and
lakes. It affects the fish and wild life population.
Nuclear energy is a very controversial subject. Although it produces high quantities of power with
relative efficiency, it is very hard to dispose of the waste. While wind and solar power have no waste

The continental crust consists of igneous and sedimentary rocks. The oceanic crust consists of the
same with a substantial layer of sediments above the rock. The crust covers the outer ridged layer of
the earth called the lithosphere. The lithosphere is divided into seven main continental plates.
These continental plates are constantly moving on a viscous base. The viscosity of this base is a
function of the temperature. The study of shifting continental plates is called Plate Tectonics. Plate
Tectonics allows scientists to locate regions of geothermal heat emission. Shifting continental plates
cause weak spots or gaps between plates where geothermal heat is more likely to seep through the
crust. These gaps are called Subduction Zones. Heat emission from subduction zones can take many
forms, such as volcanoes, geysers and hot springs. When lateral plate movement induced gaps occur
between plates, collisions occur between other plates. This results in partial plate destruction. This
causes mass amounts of heat to be produced due to frictional forces and the rise of magma from the
mantle through propagating lithosphere fractures and thermal plumes sometimes resulting in
volcanism. During plate movement, continental plates are constantly being consumed and produced
changing plate boundaries. When collisions between plates occur, the crust is pushed up sometimes
forming ranges of mountains. This is the way that most

Immigration Policy Institute ( Mpi ) Immigration
Chapter 1: Introduction
Background and Justification According to Migration Policy Institute(MPI) immigration is a
prominent part of the United States DNA. Among different immigrant groups in the United States it is
highly uneven, and the size of the unauthorized population continues to be a powerful barrier to social
cohesion, full social economic, and political integration. (Jimenez, 2016)
The Research Problem Concerns still exist about immigrants ability to integrate into broader society.
Americans feel as if they have to adjust to the different ethnicity because their language can take over
their country and they can maybe lose their jobs from the illegal immigration that is happening in the
United States. Also, the fear of our citizens are that any immigrant that illegally come over to the
United States; can be a dangerous terrorist or even a criminal felon. What the U.S. Americans want is
the illegal immigration to stop and have the immigrants come over and learn English and take the test
and get their citizenship the right way. (Jimenez, 2016)
Deficiencies in the Evidence There is no deficiencies in the research. The researcher had no lack of
evidence to support the research on illegal immigration.

Drug Design And Biological Recognition Research Lab
It all came together last summer on a 5,724.8 mile bicycle ride from Texas to Alaska. I was among a
group of students lucky enough to wear the Texas 4000 for Cancer jersey and devote a summer to
pedaling for a cause. Like with many other premed students, signs that showed how interested I was in
medicine were apparent since before I can remember, but everything from my summer trip validated
further every desire I had to join the medical field as a doctor. At the age of ten I was confident I
wanted to spend the rest of my life getting back at the disease that took my grandmother away a
decision that led me as a freshman in college to a drug design and biological recognition research lab.
I joined the lab as a way to help others by studying infectious diseases, but I sought out a way to make

was a war correspondent, a sports journalist, a columnist, a book editor/author, and a radio and
television host. His radio and television shows were about books and authors, and they gained him
numerous writing and broadcasting awards. In 1936, he joined the Chicago Tribune staff as a writer
(Struzzi). It was from there that Cromie gained a love for journalism and interviewing people. He even
wrote for several national magazines, one of them being the Saturday Evening Post. Cromie wrote
three books; The Great Chicago Fire, Dillinger: A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book first starts off by describing the current state of Chicago in 1871. Chicago was extremely
dry during that year and in fact, many fires had occurred recently in the Windy City before the Great
Chicago Fire. Cromie describes the city as an enormous artificial forest, drying out in a sun heated
oven (pg 9), since almost everything was made out of wood, from the pine block paving, to fences of
pine, to wooden roofs. Chicago also was filled with warehouses with wooden shelves, lumber mills,
and paint and varnish shops that contained inflammable items. On page 11, Cromie stated that,
Chicago specialized in the production, handling, and storage of combustible goods . All this
information showed how easily a fire could spread; Chicago was almost asking for a terrible fire to
happen. The cause of the fire is still uncertain today, but it has been speculated about by many
researchers. Cromie chose to write about the legend of Mrs. O Learys cow. Although Mrs. O Leary
denied any accusations towards her, many people still blamed her cow, who could have knocked over
a gas lantern inside a wooden shed near her house. On October 8, 1871 the flame started somewhere
near the O Learys house, and the Great Chicago Fire began and spread rapidly. There were many
firefighters that were on call that October night, but all their efforts were

Masculinity In The Sun Also Rises
But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated, Hemingway says. He used
his own insecurities, thoughts on masculinity, and life events to compose this novel. In the novel, Jake
was injured in the war just as Hemingway had been. Other men have also been changed by the effects
of the war. There is a feel of harassment, competition, rivalry, and arguments caused by the men s
challenged masculinity. Jake exemplifies insecurity in the novel as well as Brett. Hemingway models
The Sun Also Rises after his own insecurities, concepts of masculinity, and life events. When
Hemingway turned eighteen he attempted to enlist in the army, however, he was denied at first
because of his poor eyesight and became an ambulance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I don t think so. I d just tromper you with everybody. Brett (Hemingway 21)
This dialogue explains that Brett can t live with Jake because of his inability to make love. She says
she will tromper him, meaning he will not be able to live with her sleeping with other men behind his
back. Ernest Hemingway was insecure about being a writer so he participated in bullfighting. Many
characters in the novel suffer with insecurities of their own. Robert Cohn has a vast amount of
insecurities. He is mostly insecure because Brett will not be in a relationship with him and she is the
love of his life. You can t get away from yourself by moving from one place to another, (Hemingway
6) Jake explains to Cohn. Cohn wants to move to South America because he is unhappy with his
lifestyle, however, Jake knows that Cohn s unhappiness isn t caused by where he is living, but how he
is living. Cohn s lifestyle will not change regardless of where he lives. I have never seen a man in civil
life as nervous as Robert Cohn nor as eager. I was enjoying it. It was lousy to enjoy it, but I felt lousy.
Cohn had a wonderful quality of bringing out the worst in anybody (Hemingway 51). Cohn s

Summary Of Jeannette Walls The Silver Star
In the novel, The Silver Star, by Jeannette Walls, a conflicted mother, named Charlotte, struggles with
taking care of her two kids named, Liz and Jean. Jean is a twelve year old girl who goes by the name
Bean. She is very responsible and good at taking care of herself. Liz is fifteen years old and she takes
care of Bean and herself. The girls try hard to figure out where to stay whenever their mother
unexpectedly leaves for a couple days.
In the beginning of the novel, Liz and Bean did not mind their mother leaving them home alone
without any supervision. The girls did not mind it at all. I wasn t worried that Mom had been gone for
four days. I was more worried about the chicken pot pies. (Walls 1 2). Here it shows how the narrator,

she enjoyed living with Uncle Tinsley, but Liz knew that their mom just needed some time for herself.
How long do you think it will take mom to get settled in? I asked Liz . There s getting settled in, Liz
said, and then there s getting a grip on things. (Walls 82). After a little while Charlotte began calling
the girls once a week and talked to them about future plans. Lots of kids in New York went to private

Differences Between Fahrenheit 451 Book And Movie
Besides sound effects and visuals in a movie, descriptive language in a book, both are usually very
similar. Specifically, between the book and the movie Fahrenheit 451, the two share many of the main
ideas, but have multiple differences. A couple of the top major differences in the movie are that
Clarisse doesn t die and they omit to tell or mention that there is a war going on. Some similarities are
the characters personalities and looks. All of these things have impact on how the movie and book
contrast and compare to each other. Characters in the book and movie are mostly the same to each
other. For example, Mildred/Linda and Clarisse are almost exactly the same to their character in the
movie and book. Clarisse is still curious and imaginative while, Mildred/Linda is still shallow. In the

Caribbean is a Strategic Transit Zone
By virtue of its proximity to producers in South America and strong trade links with North and
Europe, the Caribbean is a strategic transit zone, a hot spot accounting for an estimated 25 30% of
cocaine reaching Europe (IFS, 2012). Its deteriorating economy capitalizes on this trade with
pervasive drugfuelled corruption, notoriously by governmental agencies, especially law enforcement
and criminal justice networks (Day, 2013, p. 9). Government funding is strapped and institutional
capacity has plunged into decay. The Substance Abuse Advisory Council Secretariat, reports restricted
budgetary allocations for drug rehabilitation (Evaluation of Progress in Drug Control Report, 2010). A
United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime commissioned study in St. Lucia reasons that problems of
gang violence and youth do not originate with cannabis inebriation but with the legal prohibitions on
cannabis and the enforcement of those prohibitions in a zero tolerance environment (Day, 2013,p.6 ).
In our so called moral pursuit of a drug free society, we have only achieved its opposite state where
consumption and demand has risen. Human rights have been violated. Disparities have widened.
Competing pressing national issues has led to an unrelentingly expensive war that we cannot win.

The fallout in a relationship can lead to one of the most complicated and emotional periods in our
lives. We are compelled to sit through a continuous merry go round of rejection, anger or sadness that
feels almost insurmountable. Our pride will be bruised and our ego, regardless of its size, will deflate,
prompting us to murder our former significant other. This was the state s claim regarding 17 year old
Adnan Syed s motive in strangling his ex girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, on January 13, 1999. The state also

Analysis Of The Film Baraka
Phases of Society Baraka, a film directed in 1992 by Ron Fricke, depicts the overall phases of society.
He displays multiple people and things that play a role into making a society successful. He does this
by focusing on religion, nature, and different ethnicities. Throughout the film, no language is
incorporated, only music. Fricke exhibits a spiritual, natural earth instead of an automated humanity.
Baraka , an ancient Sufi word with forms in many languages, translates as a blessing, or as the breath
or essence of life form which the evolutionary process unfolds (Baraka). Through emotional appeal,
music choice, and multiple filmic techniques, he argues that society is not individualized at all. Fricke
suggests this to his audience which includes involved and contributing members of society. Fricke
launches his film with continuity editing of different scenic views to argue that nature is an essential
part to life in a society which makes a logical appeal. This particular scene includes a montage of
mountains, waterfalls, and land. These were all during different seasons, which also demonstrates the
changes society encounters. The music being playing is sooth and calming, but then gets suspenseful
to lead into the film (Baraka). By beginning the entire film with a montage of scenic images, Fricke
suggests that nature is a main contribute to society. Michael Stearns, the musical director, plays
suspenseful music in hopes to get the audience engaged in the film and

There are probably many ways to describe me. But, to keep this in simple terms I am Diana, a 19 year

and cares for her family and friends more than she cares for herself. Others might have a different
opinion about me, however, this is how I view myself, this is who I am. Considering that I was more
straightforward in the description of how I view myself, I want to include that there are some many
other components that makes who I am and how I view myself. Among the many aspects, I am the

The Digital Signal Processing Applications

INTRODUCTION
With advent of modern high performance signal processing applications, high throughput is in great
demand. Digital Signal Processing is perhaps the most important enabling technology behind the last
few decade s communication and multi media revolutions. Most recent research in the digital signal
processing (DSP) area has focused on new techniques that explore parallel processing architectures for
solutions to the DSP problems .DSP is used in a numerous real time application related with the VLSI
technology such as wireless communication, transmission system, multimedia, digital video, digital

Loop transformation techniques are applied extensively on loop intensive behaviors in design of
area/energy efficient systems in the domain of multimedia and signal processing applications. These
are also commonly used during high level synthesis for optimization purposes. One of the most
popular loop transformation techniques is retiming, which improves the performance of the system.
Retiming relocates the delays or registers within a circuit without altering the functionality. As
relocating the delays or registers balances the critical path and reduces the states of the circuit.

LITERATURE SURVEY
Graphical representation are efficient for investigating and analyzing the data flow properties of DSP
system and for exploiting the inherent parallelism among the different subtask. More importantly
graphical representation can be used to map DSP algorithm to hardware implementation. This
graphical representation can build the gap between algorithmic description and structural
implementation. It exhibits all parallelism and data driven properties of the system and provide an
insight into space and time tradeoffs.
2.1 DATA FLOW GRAPH
In Data Flow Graph (DFG) representation, the nodes represent computations and the directed edges
represent data path and each edge has a non negative number of delays associated with it.
The DFG captures the data driven property of DSP algorithms where any node

The Necessity to Swap Ethnic Profiling for Behavioral...
Humanity has always strived to become more civilized . Whether it was the manipulation of fire, the
domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the exploration of space, the goal has always
been to become more advanced than our predecessors. We think of civilization as the opposite of
brutality and we associate the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this reason, we are
unable to deem a race that has walked on the moon as a violent race. However, civilization doesn t
abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and bestows it into the hands of
a separate entity (like the military). (Lancaster)
Historically, civilization has demonstrated the greatest degree of violence ... Show more content on

For this reason, ethnic profiling should carry less weight in the decision making of law enforcement
agents and in the realm of criminal justice. In turn, the criminal justice system should promote the use
behavioral profiling, a more effective alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests.
There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists admit that ethnic
profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no one has attempted to eradicate it until
recently. This is because America s imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate until a
couple of decades ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its
root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration. When you analyses
the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation between the impact of ethnic
profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In other words, as people become more scared the
likelihood that they will perform or tolerate racial profiling increases.
Fear and violence go hand in hand, and the 50 s and 60 s left America trembling with fear. During this
period we observed the height of the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement. Apparently, the threat
of communism and the empowerment of blacks turned out to be a poor combination

Hunger And The Positive Effects Of Hunger Today
Feed the Issue
Relating to something you never experienced, proposes difficulty. You experience the refreshing
feeling of doing a cartwheel, but never felt the sensation a gymnast feels as they flip through the air.
Likewise, your stomach growls a few times here and there, but you never experienced true hunger.
Hunger so bad called starvation, malnutrition, undernourishment, or poverty. To make an impact on
the issue of hunger today, it stands important to consider the current issue and the positive effects of

Of all the children in the world, hunger remains the leading cause of death (Turk). An estimated 6,200
children die from hunger or hunger related causes each day (Feed My Starving Children). That means
about 3.1 million children every year. In children under the age of five, poor nutrition continues to be
responsible for forty five percent of the deaths (Turk).
The majority of hungry people can be found living in developing regions (World Hunger, Poverty
Facts, Statistics 2016). Of people suffering from hunger, ninety eight percent live in developing
regions. Numerically, this means 780 million people live in developing regions, out of the 795 million
hungry people. Over 190.7 million people were considered undernourished in India during 2014,

In the novel Catcher In The Rye J.D. Salinger demonstrates Freud s theories of the unconscious and

overall has a effect on his personality. Holden emerges in the story as an onerous, lonely, and hateful

Essay on Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet: A Tragedy When you think of William Shakespeare, Hamlet is the first thing most people
think of, as his work. Hamlet is also a classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the hero suffers,
and usually dies at the end. All good pieces of literature written way back when, are usually tragedies.
The most important element is the amount of free will the character has. In every tragedy, the
character must display free will. If every action is controlled by a hero s destiny, then the hero s death
can t be avoided, and in a tragedy the sad part is that it could. Hamlet s death could have been avoided
many times. Hamlet had many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tragic hero must possess many good traits, as well as one flaw, which eventually leads to his
downfall. A tragic hero must be brave and noble. Hamlet is the perfect example of the tragic hero.
Hamlet has all the good traits needed to be a tragic hero. He is brave and daring. One example of this
is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk and knew they were out to kill him. His
loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry with Claudius and his Mother. Eric Bentley said
that a Tragedy is dependent on comedy. Comic relief is used in tragedies to change the atmosphere of
the reader, who is constantly focusing on the death and corruption of a tragedy. If a play were full of
the death and sorrow, as in tragedies, it would make the reader very depressed and not like the play.
Some examples of this in Hamlet, are in the Gravedigger Scene, Talking to the Skull and the Throwing
of the book.
Towards the end of the play, there are two scenes in the graveyard. One is when Hamlet picks up a
skull, and the gravedigger tells him that the skull belonged to Yorick, the old king s jester. Hamlet tells
Horatio that he knew Yorick, and then realizes what we all become after we die, dust. He then plays

Examples Of Compliance In Health Care
Compliant or Compliance in a healthcare setting is referring to the HIPAA (Healthcare Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act) rules, conventions, guidelines, procedures, plans, or federal/state
laws that a healthcare facility will have in place for their staff to follow. An example of Compliance
guidelines would be a requirement that providers must accurately complete and sign off on a patient s
note within a certain number of days after a treatment plan has been assessed. Another example would
be guidelines in regard to a patient with Mental and Behavioral Health records. These type of records
contain sensitive information and should not be widely shared with the entire staff. Therefore, a
healthcare facility may set a rule/guideline

Analysis Of The Falling Man By Tom Junod
The Falling Man
On the date of September 11th 2001, a horrific terrorist attack took place on the World Trade center.
From this one act of evil caused thousands of individuals to perish in the matter of minutes. As time
progresses on, the things that still remain are the memories and the footage of what occurred on that
day. As the two buildings were in engulfed in flames and people stood helpless on the ground, some
witnesses turned to photography and video footage to hopefully help this day to never be forgotten.
One individual named Richard Drew, a professional journalist and photographer was in New York on
9/11. While the terrorist attack occurred he sat helpless and watched from the streets but decided to
begin snapping pictures. However, the article entitled, The Falling Man by Tom Junod showed the
controversy of what he was taking pictures of. Richard was taking pictures of the Jumpers (Junod,
2016, para. 6). The Jumpers were the citizens trapped within the twin towers with no other exit but to
jump for possible freedom, but as they fell hundreds of stories from the buildings the people on the
streets knew their was no help for them and the only thing that awaited them was a quick death.
Within the article it states, He was standing between a cop and an emergency technician, and each
time one of them cried, There goes another, his camera found a falling body and followed it down for
a nine or twelve shot sequence (Junod, 2016, para. 3). In this statement

Magna International Inc.
1.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Magna International Inc. (Magna) is a manufacturer of automobile parts since its inception in 1957
(At the time was called Multimatic Investments Limited). Founded by Frank Stronach, Magna has
since become Canada s largest automobile parts manufacturer. Magna is the primary supplier of
automobile parts to many car manufacturers, including General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford Motor
Company.
The following discussion will draw upon Magna s management strategy, its mission statement, where
the company is currently, how the corporation is doing, and whether it is consistent with what Magna

This is consistent with the annual target of maintaining the minimum profits that Magna states that it
plans to achieve. Given the consistent target, it supersedes the other facets as to what Magna promises
every year in the constitution of not only providing profit sharing to employees, but also a percentage
out to shareholders and management.
Based upon Magna s performance over the past 2 3 years, Magna has remained faithful and consistent
with what the company seeks to achieve under the principles as stated in the Corporate Constitution
and the Employee Charter.
Having implemented controls to reinforce the targets including minimum profit performance and
employee hotlines for filing complaints, Magna does show a compelling commitment to stand up for
the philosophy as to what Frank Stronach has quoted: Magna International is a Fair Enterprise
Company.
This may provide a good indication that the promises Magna have sought out to abide in make it a fair
enterprise. What limits this philosophy is the forces in the outside world that is beyond the company s
control in continuing to realize its mission of persistently achieving its goals, the next discussion will
consider the macro environment and industry environment of Magna International.

The Core Beliefs Of The Aqida Al-Islam
Islam is a monotheistic religion with over 1.7 billion followers that spans the globe, many of the
practices of a Muslim are committed daily. Devout Muslims would reject the statement only those
who fear punishment will treat others well. Because of the wish, a Muslim has to follow the lead
Muhammad left as a model Muslim, as well as the connection a Muslim holds with to their core
beliefs, through the Aqida al Islam, the hadiths, Arkan al Islam and shari a.
The Aqida al Islam is the doctrines of Islam, expressing how a Muslim should live their life in the
favour of Allah. The core beliefs of the Aqida al Islam are expressed through the acts of the Arkan al
Islam, including; Shahada, Salat, Zakat, Sawm and the Hajj.(Morrissey, 2010, 109.) ... Show more

Occupational Licenses
Imagine a world with no competition, no entrepreneurs entering a market and opening up jobs to the
public while providing benefits to consumers in the process. The market would suffer immensely
without competition and instead of more benefits being provided, prices for the goods and services
provided by that market will increase. Occupational licenses are an example of how entrepreneurs
could be driven out, thus keeping out any competition and driving up prices instead of providing
benefits. Occupational licenses create a barrier from entering a market and if the license requirements
are truly outrageous, less entrepreneurs will be inclined to enter the field. For example, the state of
Rhode Island is one of forty states who require an occupational ... Show more content on

Consumers will be given more choices to choose from and the prices for heating and air conditioning
will be sure to drop because of the increase in competition. More choices is a positive for consumers
because it means there will be a greater chance of them being able to find a contractor who fits their
needs well. By eliminating the occupational license, aspiring HVAC contractors who couldn t gain a
license for whatever reason will also gain from it. They will be able to enter the market without
worrying about extra costs or time spent training that needs to be fulfilled to obtain a license. They can
enter freely, after possibly going through some schooling, and they will compete with other HVAC
contractors, which in return benefits consumers by offering them lower prices and more options to
choose from. Everyone needs heating and air conditioning in their homes or buildings in order to live
comfortably. Without an occupational license or even lessening the requirements to obtain one will
benefit consumers and allow them to live even more comfortably. There should be no reason that
consumers must pay more to live comfortably in their homes, so there should be no reason that HVAC
contractors must have to obtain an occupational license after fulfilling tedious and unnecessary

The most common users of CAM are women, people with higher education, and those who used allopathic medicine (Najm, Reinsch, Hoehler, Tobis, 2003). In addition, CAM use is higher among people living in rural areas than urban areas (Marshik et al,. 2016). CAM utilization can be associated with psychosocial factors, ethnic and cultural characteristic, availability of health care resources, and individual perception of physical and medical condition (Saunjoo Jeong Hee, 2013). The range of CAM treatments includes acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga, herbal medicine, chiropractic, and homeopathy (Walker et al,. 2017). The increased use of CAM among the general community has been attributed to the view that CAM is safer and less expensive than conventional medications. However, there has been largely a lack of scientific data surrounding CAM therapies, influenced by variation in knowledge level and lack of appreciation of existing evidence (Walker et al,. 2017). Knupp, Esmail Warren (2009) indicated that occupational therapy and CAM focus on actively engaging the patient in their treatment to involve the whole person, in order to increase the quality of life and overall health. Conducting Research This is perhaps the most important step in the research paper writing process. Your research not only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic, but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author, clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple ... • 7. Metaphors And Figurative Language Literature Review Nowadays, metaphor is considered as influential in our everyday life and its traces are not only evident in the language but also in thought and action. The function of metaphor in language, culture, and thought has been viewed by various disciplines (Tendahl and Gibbs, 2008). In the discipline of linguistics, in particular, metaphor and figurative language have long been the subject of studies from many different perspectives. From a cognitive linguistic perspective, metaphor is a mental mapping (p. 1825) in the cognitive processes of thinking and reasoning of people in their everyday life (Tendahl and Gibbs, 2008). As noted by Tendahl and Gibbs (2008), the last century ended up with its revolutionary studies on metaphor, most significantly in the realm of cognitive science. They discuss a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can find several theories in the discipline of Linguistics including relevance theory. Relevance theory, originally proposed by Sperber and Wilson (1986 1987), is discussed in detail by Tendahl and Gibbs (2008). According to Tendahl and Gibbs, relevance theory complements cognitive linguistics in defining metaphor and its functioning. As they point out, in a cognitive linguistic perspective, people use metaphors in their language because they think metaphorically and different language configurations are viewed as conceptual processing mechanisms (p. 1825) where an operation of mapping the concepts in the mind of speakers occurs (Tendahl and Gibbs, 2008). In their view, relevance theory, both by its encoding and decoding pattern of thought communication and by its view at the intended meaning in a certain context of communication, also has a cognitive look at language and mind, or more specifically at communication and thought. We can clearly see such cognitive perspective in relevance theory as suggested by Sperber and Wilson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On Self Reflection Self Reflection Essay For this semester, I wanted to steer away from my usual topic of sports for research and focus on other aspects of my life that impact me personally. I then began to think about all the other things in my life that I do on a dialy basis, and that s when music came into mind. Listening to music is a part of my life that I use to help relieve my stress, stay focused while doing other tasks, or just to fill quiet space when I am by myself. I chose to focus on Alicia Keys because I have been listening to her music for as long as I can remember, and her very inspirational persona was always intruiging to me. I wanted to find out more about her advocational identity and compare it to the details behind her musical title and see which side was more beneifcial to our society as a whole. However, since she also is considered a celebrity figure, I was worried that the information I would be looking for would be invalid or biased. When it comes to my presentation skills, I believe I have improved greatly and my strengths are now starting to outweigh my weaknesses, especially regarding how I physically speak about my choice of a topic compared to the overall setup of my actual presentatiom. • 9. The Justice And Restorative Justice Punishment is not necessarily the answer for young offenders, as crime is a gesture for help in many cases, and punishment focused approaches don t allow young individuals the chance to understand the implications of their actions through a victim s perspective (Choi, Green, and Gilbert 337). Policies and practices for youths need to fulfill more than entrapment and punishment, providing rationale for restorative justice (337). Crimes committed by young individuals are often minor, first time acts which can be mediated and addressed through the proactive administration of restorative rehabilitation, which often prevents recidivism. Restorative justice is a process where all parties involved in a particular offense come together in order to collectively resolve the aftermath and future implications of the specific crime (Roche 343). Restorative justice is the the ideal response for the majority of youth involved in criminal activity, as it s a rehabilitative method that produces positive healing processes and outcomes, especially in comparison to retributive justice approaches. Martin Wright explains that restorative justice involves a fundamental change in the response a society has towards individuals who harm one another. Wright elaborates that this terminology shifts the meaning of crime, stressing the fact that people are harmed, rather than a crime was broken (Wright 216). This highlights the ultimate source of restorative justice, and its strong relationship with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Does Voltage Gated Sodium Ions Move Into Sodium Channels The way a signal starts in the motor neuron is by way of a stimulus activating sensory neurons. This signal travels by way of the axon that contains schwann cells. The signal continues to move into the CNS, which causes signal to be sent to interneurons. The interneurons can send the signal through the peripheral system or to the brain via the spinal cord. When a skeletal muscle fires it is caused by a signal in a motor neuron. Voltage gated sodium channels open up after a threshold stimulus of 55mV is reached. Next, Sodium ions move into the cell membrane, thus depolarizing the cell at +30mV, which is its action potential. Weight Watchers is also a unique weight loss program because they offer different opportunities for participants to meet with a group of like members who are also in the program in locations near them. The oceanic crust consists of the same with a substantial layer of sediments above the rock. The crust covers the outer ridged layer of the earth called the lithosphere. The lithosphere is divided into seven main continental plates. These continental plates are constantly moving on a viscous base. The viscosity of this base is a function of the temperature. The study of shifting continental plates is called Plate Tectonics. Plate Tectonics allows scientists to locate regions of geothermal heat emission. Shifting continental plates cause weak spots or gaps between plates where geothermal heat is more likely to seep through the crust. These gaps are called Subduction Zones. Heat emission from subduction zones can take many forms, such as volcanoes, geysers and hot springs. When lateral plate movement induced gaps occur between plates, collisions occur between other plates. This results in partial plate destruction. This causes mass amounts of heat to be produced due to frictional forces and the rise of magma from the mantle through propagating lithosphere fractures and thermal plumes sometimes resulting in volcanism. During plate movement, continental plates are constantly being consumed and produced changing plate boundaries. When collisions between plates occur, the crust is pushed up sometimes forming ranges of mountains. This is the way that most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Robert Cromie had many accomplishments to be proud of, since he was a war correspondent, a sports journalist, a columnist, a book editor/author, and a radio and television host. His radio and television shows were about books and authors, and they gained him numerous writing and broadcasting awards. In 1936, he joined the Chicago Tribune staff as a writer (Struzzi). It was from there that Cromie gained a love for journalism and interviewing people. He even wrote for several national magazines, one of them being the Saturday Evening Post. Chicago was extremely dry during that year and in fact, many fires had occurred recently in the Windy City before the Great Chicago Fire. Cromie describes the city as an enormous artificial forest, drying out in a sun heated oven (pg 9), since almost everything was made out of wood, from the pine block paving, to fences of pine, to wooden roofs. Chicago also was filled with warehouses with wooden shelves, lumber mills, and paint and varnish shops that contained inflammable items. On page 11, Cromie stated that, Chicago specialized in the production, handling, and storage of combustible goods . All this information showed how easily a fire could spread; Chicago was almost asking for a terrible fire to happen. The cause of the fire is still uncertain today, but it has been speculated about by many researchers. Cromie chose to write about the legend of Mrs. O Learys cow. Although Mrs. O Leary denied any accusations towards her, many people still blamed her cow, who could have knocked over a gas lantern inside a wooden shed near her house. On October 8, 1871 the flame started somewhere near the O Learys house, and the Great Chicago Fire began and spread rapidly. He displays multiple people and things that play a role into making a society successful. He does this by focusing on religion, nature, and different ethnicities. Throughout the film, no language is incorporated, only music. Fricke exhibits a spiritual, natural earth instead of an automated humanity. Baraka , an ancient Sufi word with forms in many languages, translates as a blessing, or as the breath or essence of life form which the evolutionary process unfolds (Baraka). Through emotional appeal, music choice, and multiple filmic techniques, he argues that society is not individualized at all. Fricke suggests this to his audience which includes involved and contributing members of society. Fricke launches his film with continuity editing of different scenic views to argue that nature is an essential part to life in a society which makes a logical appeal. This particular scene includes a montage of mountains, waterfalls, and land. These were all during different seasons, which also demonstrates the changes society encounters. The music being playing is sooth and calming, but then gets suspenseful to lead into the film (Baraka). Retiming relocates the delays or registers within a circuit without altering the functionality. As relocating the delays or registers balances the critical path and reduces the states of the circuit. Whether it was the manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our predecessors. For this reason, we are unable to deem a race that has walked on the moon as a violent race. However, civilization doesn t abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and bestows it into the hands of a separate entity (like the military). Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration. One example of this is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk and knew they were out to kill him. His loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry with Claudius and his Mother. Eric Bentley said that a Tragedy is dependent on comedy. Comic relief is used in tragedies to change the atmosphere of the reader, who is constantly focusing on the death and corruption of a tragedy.
