Texas Annual Budget
The discussion of Texas and its legislature procedures has been an arising issue for a few decades now.
The State of Texas meets every 140 days like three other States; Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota
(Fernandez 2013). All of these States including Texas hold session every other year. There have been
some basic arguments brought up on both sides of the subject, but I m a supporter in changing the way
Texas holds sessions. The discussion of Texas being well served as a biennial legislature brings to
light a few issues that I believe should be addressed. I am all for a small government but Texas is too
big of a State, and it has too much economic diversity to not be looking at annual budgets. The format
Texas uses is way outdated. Texas population has grown in 137 years from I million ... Show more

The responsibilities of the legislature have become so demanding to where they can no longer be seen
on an alternate year basis. Some of the benefits for going to an annual session would be: More
meetings which would help to raise the position of legislature, and thereby help to check the flow of
power to the executive branch. I am also convinced that having an annual session would be beneficial
for the oversight of the administration, and it would put administrative accountability for the execution
of legislative policies to be easily enforced. The States may respond more rapidly to new federal laws
which require state participation Annual session would eliminate the need for any special sessions The
annual sessions may help policy making process more timely and orderly There are always a couple of
bills that end up failing to get heard or advanced because of the way Texas holds sessions. Here are a
few bills for ex.: Same sex marriage license ban bill A texting and driving bill A traffic light ban

Refugee Camps And The United Nations High Commissioner For...
Throughout historical events including modern day occurrences, the conflict between environmental
and humanitarian issues are vouchsafed to be unimportant. Per the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is tasked with
addressing the environmental effects and impacts on refugees, and states that the most significant
problems from refugees [and camps] include deforestation, soil erosions and depletion and pollution
of water resources (UNHCR Social). Yet, after numerous displacements in the Middle East, the world
seemed poised to grant a higher priority to lower issues on the agenda for environmental stability.
However, despite increasing awareness that environmental decline produces and is a byproduct of
conflict, little is known about the linkage between refugee camps and the environment due to a lack of
conceptual clarity. As a result, in the case of refugee camps and their ability to impact our
environment, refugee camps are a global concern that affects everyone and our global ecosystem. By
way of illustration, the dire living conditions in refugee camps [and the harboring diseases that they
can create] are less often a focus for international humanitarian attention. In fact, many who are
uprooted from their homes [during violent conflict] travel countless miles in search of safety [in
refugee camps] only to face new perilous circumstances. Currently, living conditions within refugee
camps are often

Layout Of Rev Ads
In society it seems that everywhere we look we are surrounded by advertisements whether it is
television commercials, billboards or advertisements. Obviously, the main purpose of advertisements
is to get the consumer to purchase the product. Print advertisements are an extremely effective way to
reach a mass audience because the advertisements are in print, the use of color, text and photography
are all key factors in luring the consumers in to buying their product. Advertisements cannot simply
attempt to sell the product in question; they must make it appeal to the consumer. It is important that
advertisements not only attempt to make the product they are trying to sell clear but also to actually
make the advertisement mean something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the colors really help, keywords also have a great toll in selling a product. By putting REV
UP THE VOLUME in big letter it draws your attention. It draws people in that want more volume for
their eyelashes. All caps draws your attention and makes you want to read every word on the ad. By
putting that if you use the product you will have denser more numerous lashes in 30 days it make
consumers want to buy this product and actually see if the product will work. Last but not least is the
layout of this ad. Layout really helps make an advertisement. By making the model take up most of
the page, your attention goes directly to her. Even without knowing what the ad is about; if you just
look at her you can automatically tell it is a mascara ad by her eyelashes. By putting the words around
the model you can read them and after every word you read about it helping your eye lashes you can t
help but look back at her eye lashes. The brush of the mascara is out of the bottle so the consumer can
see what the brush looks like and how it will form their lashes.
The second ad is also found in the Lucky magazine, which means it also mostly targets young teens
and women. The mascara in this particular ad is made by Revlon which is a very popular brand of
make up. This company took a very smart approach by getting a celebrity model to endorse this

The Aspects Of Discrimination In The Workplace
Introduction
Discrimination, it is such a strong word that has many meanings. It can be referred to as the unjust or
prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age,
or sex (Merriam Webster). It is a topic that most people do not want to face the facts that people still
have to face discrimination in the workplace to this very day. Since 2011, the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission [EEOC] has received over 45,000 complaints that are directly related to
racial discrimination (Gaille, 2017). Discrimination should be a thing of the past it should not be an
issue that someone has to get up every day and face in their place of work. We need to learn how to
treat each other based their own personality instead of a group as a whole. Discrimination is not a dirty
world and once people learn to not be so afraid of talking about it and learning how to address it, then
discrimination in the workplace will become a thing of the past, where it belongs.
Background
Being a Hispanic female, I am always intrigued about how discrimination is still a huge issue. I want
to be in a workplace where people are just judged by their work performance and not the color of their
skin, gender, or sexual preference. I currently work in a department of all men and I love that my
manager gives me the same kind of hard trailers that he gives to all the men he does not give me easy
trailers just because I am a female. There are many

Maya Angelou
Ma 2(1565443)
Maya Angelou is known as the most visible black female autobiographer/poet. She was born,
Marguerite Ann Johnson, on April fourth, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents divorced when she
was three, and she and her brother were sent to live with their grandmother in Stamps, Arkansas.
Seeing all the racial discrimination in the American south strengthened her passion for poetry, music,
dance and performance. Maya writes about the struggles people face, racism and freedom. At age
eight, Angelou went mute for five years when she believed that her words killed a man. These years of
silence helped develop her extraordinary memory, love for books and literature, and her ability to
listen and observe the world around her. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lyric is poetry that gives emotion. An example of lyric in the poem is But a bird that stalks down his
narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he
opens his throat to sing. (Angelou 8 14). Lyric makes the poem more serious and helps express the
poet s feelings about racism better. It adds emphasis by showing how one bird is free and the other is
trapped and restricted. The speaker of the poem is the poet. The speaker of the poem is Maya Angelou
because she is telling what it is like to be free or trapped. An example would be The free bird leaps on
the back of the win (Angelou1 2).the theme of the poem is that being able to do your own things and
make your own decisions, is better than being trapped and struggling. An example of this would be
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams (Angelou 26) and The free bird thinks of another
breeze (Angelou 22), because the free bird represents the white race and the caged bird represents the
black race. In Maya Angelou s poem, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , she uses symbolism and
lyric as poetic devices to bring meaning to the poem.

Physics of Boating Essay
The first thing you should know is the physics behind a boat, seeing how you can t have a boating
adventure without one. To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a
boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed
object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the
object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume
of the object submerged.
Buoyancy:
Fb= d*g*V
Where Fb= the magnitude of the buoyant force
d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object

237) Translation: The tides are caused by the gravitational attraction between the earth and moon.
There are two low tides and two high tides each day. Low tide is when you smell dead fish. High tide
is when the smell is somewhat less stinky.
The bald eagle is not an uncommon sight when boating in Southeast Alaska. It is a massive bird that
flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight
of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under
the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing
has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because
the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point
experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing
experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the
wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from
below.

Michael Formanek, and drummer Tomas Fujiwara, augmented their discography with the release of
two new complementary if conceptually distinct albums, suitably entitled Ours and Theirs. Following
the example of their second album, Convallaria, these sessions were born from a residency at
Pittsburgh s City of Asylum and demonstrate the strong sonic chemistry of musicians who have been

Profiling And Drug-Law Enforcement
One of the eight most important indicators pertaining to profiling and drug law enforcement was the
act of purchasing airline tickets with cash. Needless to say, the purchase of airline tickets with cash
brings attention to self. Regardless to travel near or far, people usually go online and purchase their
tickets in advance using a credit card for security purposes and conformation. Naturally, when
traveling, people carry less cash as possible because of the high rate of crime. Unfortunately, Andrew
Sokolow, a young African American brought attention to himself because of his appearance, purchase
of a forty eight hour trip from one destination to another paying with cash, and excessive nervousness
(Levinthal, C. F. 2012). Therefore, when you are paying with cash and showing signs of nervousness,
suspicion falls upon you and people automatically feel you have the intention to harm others or
intention of drug trafficking. None the less, Sokolow was traveling under a false name. Consequently,
the tragedy on September 11, 2001, and the loss of more than 3,000 lives were due to ineffective
airport security. However, profiling, based on both the behavior and appearance of airline passengers,
provides a vital tool that effectively and efficiently increases airport ... Show more content on

Pet Wearables And Connected Device Technology
Abstract Every year circuit boards and sensors become smaller and more affordable for entrepreneurs
around the world to freely innovate new technologies. Although many of these new technologies are
designed to directly interact with humans, some people are adapting this technology to address the
needs of working canines. These new devices are then being modified to meet the needs of the regular
pet dog owner. New devices for pet dogs cover everything from identification, tracking, vital sign
monitoring, video cameras and environmental temperature fluctuations to algorithms that translate tail
wags and eventually even brain waves into emotions that can be relayed to the owner. Our own
smartphones allow most of these innovations to connect owners with their dogs wearables by the use
of applications. As technology continues to advance, we will continue to see it being used to help
connect owners with their pet dogs. These technologies help owners to have peace of mind and
veterinarians have access to health and activity data that would otherwise not be observable at routine
examinations. Technology and Your Dog:

Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay
Introduction
For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive
design.
The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until
recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black
and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual
style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style.
On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe
Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation
appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to
help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today.
The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying
matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday
life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and
imagery.
My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we
interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online
eBook.
Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a

up the process of sorting waste to ensure recyclable items and not mixed with non recyclable objects.
Key Contributions: Helps keep cities clean which boosts the quality of life.
4.2.2. Power and Energy Distribution
Many cities are trying to adopt smart grids to efficiently manage distribution of energy. Currently the
main source of energy is coal and fossil fuels. Technological advances have not yet reached the stage
where renewable sources of energy can sustain life globally. It has been estimated that by 2050, the
world s fossil fuel might get completely depleted. Hence it is important to conserve energy and use it
efficiently. Smart sensors can be installed in offices and homes to make sure lights are switched off
when no motion is detected in a room. Similarly, smart grids can analyze power consumption in areas
to detect anomalies in power usage.
Key Contributions: Maintains ecological balance and creates a sustainable ecosys tem.
4.3. Standard of Living
IoT and CPS can have a huge impact in standard of living and improving quality of life. From fast
emergency response to effective medical care, smart cities can have a huge impact in affecting quality
of life. 4.3.1. Quality of life

Energy Resources using HybridBacktracking search with sequential quadraticOptimization
Algorithms Abstract The increasing environmental crumbling cost of fuel and decreasing accessibility
of fossil fuels necessitates the optimization in hurtful emission alongside the fuel cost. One of the
ways to do as such is incorporating the renewable natural resources of energy in the existing power
system while satisfying all operational constraints. It is a highly constrained multi objective
optimization issue including contradictory objectives with probabilistic and non probabilistic
correspondence and non fairness constraints to oblige the uncertainties of renewable Energy
Resources. In this paper a hybrid multi objective Backtracking search with sequential quadratic
programming optimization algorithm is proposed. The stochastic way of photovoltaic and wind energy
is displayed by Weibul probability distribution function with solar irradiance and wind speed being
stochastic variables. To accept the effectiveness it is first connected as a benchmark to the standard six
generator system. Than the entrance of the wind and solar power on cost and emission is dissected in a
six generator and twenty generator system and a near analysis with the other optimization methods
reveals that the proposed technique is ready to produce better performance. 1. Introduction

The, The Butcher s Tale, By Helmut Walser Smith
Late 19th Century Germany was a time seemingly stuck between two worlds the past and the future
and this period s amount of rapid growth and change ultimately resulted in the decimation of German
society as was known. This collapse allowed a river of hatred to flow in its place, known as Anti
Semitism. Based on the primary and secondary sources discussed in and out of class, I believe there
are three main reasons why such a horrendous belief system infiltrated 19th Century German society:
conflict between urban and rural populations, rapid freedoms granted to the media, and the ignorance
of German politicians who unknowingly or not, pushed political extremists agendas. Late 19th
Century Germany was an ever changing political, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This estrangement left a disconnect in society that spread just from being urban or rural it expanded all
the way to the government and society as a whole. Often times, people associate government with city
as both are often far away and unaware of rural life and its needs. This caused a rift between the
people and the government as the people implementing laws and decrees have no true knowledge of
how it is affecting the people who are not directly at arms reach . This is most prominent in The
Butcher s Tale where the author describes the government s attempts to bring in troops and
investigators to quell the ongoing anti Semitic mob and in turn they are easily dispelled. The people in
small towns around the German Empire like Konitz were aware that the government didn t understand
their needs. This ultimately left them susceptible to the media that they learned their news from.
Media was just as ever changing as the society it was taking place within. During this time, media was
just beginning to become a nationwide phenomenon. In May of 1874, the Imperial Press Law decreed
that there would be freedom of the press. This opened the door not only for more forms of media to be
readily available, but also for media to now be interwoven with politics. Newspapers

World War 1 Foreign Policy Essay
Foreign policy, is government strategy of dealing with other countries. The United States had an open
door policy where free flow of trade, investment, information, and culture were key principles in
foreign relations. Later we started to become an intervening military, involved with other nation
affairs, and wanting to promote liberty and democracy. The United States wanted to remake the world
into the American image.
World War I was the first test of Wilson s belief that American power could make the world safe for
democracy . Before World War I, most of the interventions appropriated in the western hemisphere.
This became a time where the beliefs of imperialism, nationalism, and socialism were common
thoughts amongst Americans. However, once world spread about what is happening, in Europe,
Americans were split. British Americans defended England, German Americans sided with Germany,
and Irish Americans strongly opposed England. Others gave credence to, peace being essential to
enhance the efforts of social justice at home. War broke out in Europe, Wilson proclaimed the United
States to be a neutral party. But the American public opinion changed when the passenger ship
Lusitania sunk by German boats, 124 American s died. In reaction, Wilson tried to push a peace
without victory, ordering freedom of the seas, restrictions on armaments, and self determination for
nations great and small. Germany answered to this by resuming submarine warfare, they knew

being read, or with organizing the day s work. Further disturbances in behavior and appearance may
also be seen at this point, such as agitation, irritability, quarrelsomeness, and a diminishing ability to
dress appropriately. Later in the course of the disorder, affected individuals may become confused or
disoriented about what month or year it is, be unable to describe accurately where they live, or be
unable to name a place being visited. Eventually, patients may wander, be unable to engage in
conversation, erratic in mood, uncooperative, and lose bladder and bowel control. In late stages of the
disease, persons may become totally incapable of caring for themselves. Death can then follow,
perhaps from pneumonia or some other problem that occurs in severely deteriorated states of health.

Example Of Counterfactual Thinking
According to Byrne, Epstude, Roese and Roese as cited in Roesse and Morisson (2009),
counterfactual thoughts pertains to mental representations which are explicitly different to facts or
beliefs. The term counterfactual represents a concurrence against reality and actuality. Usually,
negative or strange situations activate counterfactual thinking processes. In addition, the form of
counterfactual thoughts is similar to conditional statements which comprises of two aspects:
antecedent and consequent. The antecedent involves the action as well as decision of a person whereas
the consequent provides a description of a state of being and usually structured in evaluative
conditions. There are two outcomes which can be the focus of counterfactuals: alternative
consequences which are better than reality known as upward counterfactuals and alternative results
that are not as good as the actuality called downward counterfactuals (Roesee and Morisson, 2009).
Numerous studies and researches demonstrated the negative outcomes of counterfactual thinking.

Greek Gods and Goddess
The Greek Gods:
Ancient vs. Modern Views
According to ancient Greek mythology the Greek gods and goddesses had at one time lived the
savage, brutal and ugly life of humans. Eventually, however, they managed to rise above this ancient
fierceness to become the nineteen elder gods and goddesses the Greeks knew as The Titans, who ruled
the earth in a primordial era before the Olympian gods overthrew them. The ancient Greeks of the first
millennium before the Christian era believed that the ruler of the Titans was Cronus, who was rebelled
against and ultimately dethroned by his own son Zeus. When faced with the choice between who to
support, most of the Titan gods and goddesses decided to fight with Cronus against Zeus, and ... Show

The ancient Greeks firmly believed in the divinity and power of the Titans and Olympians. They
worshipped these gods and goddesses, feared them, implored them for help, and considered them
responsible for everything that happened on earth. Today, most of the people who are interested in
Greek mythology and in the gods and goddesses of Olympus consider their interest purely scholarly.
Other people who study Greek mythology do so for simple entertainment, or to satisfy their curiosity
about the Olympian gods and goddesses, who were certainly colorful, vibrant, and interesting figures.
The relationships of the gods and goddesses with one another, and their love affairs, disputes,
triumphs, and tragedies are fascinating to some of us today, for they were all related, and always
seemed to be intent upon some mischief or grand scheme that involved love, betrayal, or intrigue. In
fact, life on Mount Olympus reminds many modern students of Greek mythology as one big soap
opera, for despite their perceived divinity by the ancient Greeks, the gods and goddesses acted in very
human ways, and displayed human emotions, flaws, and weaknesses. These characteristics are what
scholars of today find so interesting about the Titans and Olympians, for the portraits of the gods and
goddesses of ancient Greece are in fact portraits of the ancient Greeks themselves. The society of the

Brief Overview Of The Accounting Industry
Brief Overview of the Accounting Industry
The accounting industry generates annual revenue of approximately $145 billion by providing
services such as auditing, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation. With over 125,000 service
providers in the United States, the industry is dominated by the Big Four accounting firms of Deloitte,
Ernst Young, KPMG, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Due to the industry s role in an increasingly
complex business environment, accounting services are highly contingent on implications from
regulatory bodies. As a result, the competitive landscape of the industry is dependent on a firm s
ability to provide the right mix of services in view of a client s business and compliance needs. [First

Students in South Korea take their education very seriously. Eric described their school system as a

important. They didn t take shortcuts. (pg.116) These students have to compete with each other in
order to get accepted into the most prestigious colleges. Not only do students attend school from seven

also much more strict on the children s education than then U.S parents. As stated by Eric, Most
Korean parents saw themselves as coaches, while American parents tended to act more like

Mill On Liberty Analysis
In On Liberty, J.S. Mill surveys the discord amid the tyranny of the majority and the rights of the
minority. In a democracy, these are both esteemed core values. As an example, the issue of race
relations in the United States of America has long been a battle between legally sanctioned
discrimination by the majority and the will of those in the minority to fight for their liberty. In the 21st
century, we are now witnessing constant controversies between these age old problems of democratic
society. From gay marriage, and the associated rights of the LGBTQ community, to voter s rights and
a renewed need for equality of liberty among people of different creeds, sexes, and races, the
foundation of the issues never really changes, it is still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, Mill also added some ideas in the text that are not only inappropriate but, in retrospect,
seem harmful. For example, the belief that it was acceptable to rule over a people because they were
thought savages is just antithetical to his mostly liberal thinking. Secondly, there is an air of elitism
present throughout the work that is not required. Of course, there will always be those who are less
gifted than others in certain cognitive respects. This does not mean that they should have less of a say
in how their society and individual lives are arranged. There is a delicate line to walk on this issue
(e.g. questions such as: what constitutes a rational human being? And: who makes that decision?).
These are subtle questions of distinction, and for the most part, Mill appears to suggest that this is
common knowledge or, that perhaps some lower level of human beings exist that must be controlled
by those more intellectually gifted. Although it is not explicitly written in this context, the idea is still
present throughout the

The Origin Of Organic Abstraction
Organic Abstraction The origin of organic abstraction is centered around the post World War artistic
talents pioneered by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. Sharing the same philosophy of Henri
Bergeson, who believed evolutionary process (nature) and artist creativity (art) come from the same
origin. (32 Bergson) Using nature as a muse of creation, artists used simple curves and lines to define
and object to resemble that of a human body or other living natural objects. War brought about
conformity and closed minded views on every aspect of life. During this time significant ruler s such
as Hitler and Stalin influenced every aspect of life and death for the world. Many artists revolted
against the idealism of the time. Moore and Hepworth began the journey and sought refuge and
peaceful surroundings of St. Ives to start their own artist group which held (in the beginning) nineteen
different artists with the same beliefs and expressions. Moore felt that every material has its own
individual qualities. (728 Wadsworth) His work consisted of large pieces that were rounded in shape
and even though they were not formed in the ideal human form was still visible. Hepworth s artwork
was similar she took ordinary pieces of wood and opened them to new dynamics and shapes appealing
to the eye. Organic artworks fit well in nature because they are inspired by nature. Natural forms of art
would inspire other well known artists to embrace the organic abstraction beliefs, bringing

Learning Standards And High Level Of Thinking Skills
Currently in education there is a push for teachers to have rigorous learning standards and high
expectations for all their students, by challenging their students with a higher level of thinking skills.
Since the release of A Nation At Risk (National Commission on Excellence in Education, 1983) the
debate about the quality of America s schools has grown exponentially (Blackburn Williamson, 2009,
p.1). Furthermore, with the implementation of No Child Left Behind in 2001, the discussion raised to
a new level. For the first time, schools were held liable for the success of every student.
However, with an increasing amount of expectations being placed on the students to demonstrate their
abilities on standardized tests, teachers feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So often educators only look at a students ability level when predicting achievement, ignoring that the
efficacies of these students play an influential role also (Scott, 1996, p.197).
Using students ability as the primary predictor for students achievement while disregarding
motivation, self efficacy and students mindset is detrimental to any student, because adolescent
students in middle school tend to become more performance oriented and less mastery oriented than
they were in elementary school (Anderman Mueller, 2010, p. 206). Moreover, it is particularly
perilous to students who receive special education services, because for many of them it can be a
turning point towards a diminishing future (Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development, 1989, p.
20). Adverse academic occurrences during middle school can have detrimental effects on students
motivation to learn (Anderman Mueller, 2010).
Chapter Two consists of a review of the literature relevant to the theories of mindset, self efficacy,
motivation, and attribution. In addition, any research that has been conducted that relates to these
theories will also be reviewed in this chapter. Furthermore, there will be a review of how the

Carbon-14 Dating In Anthropology
Two skeletons were uncovered at Deerwood Park, August 21, 2017, early in the morning on a marked
trail. No IDs or identification were found on the pair when searched. The police have asked us,
forensic anthropologists Dr. Doe and Dr. Smith from Oklahoma University, to identify one of these
sets of remains. We were given the humerus, femur, cranium, mandible, and pelvis of the body to
measure and examine to determine sex, ethnic origin, age, and height. Our findings have led to us
believe the victim was male due to the sub pubic angle being 90 degrees, lying distinctly in the male
range of 90 degrees, and the pelvic cavity shape forming into a heart like form and expressing the

This technique involves science and art as it guesses on how the soft tissues may have fitted on the
skull based on skull characteristics, sex, and race. The facial sculpting uses molding clay to create a

adults they can help date time of birth within a 1.5 range which can allow for investigators to search

narrow the search. Additionally, another test we could use called bone analysis. It is a basic test
because, simply put, it is the observation of the bones. Bone analysis permits the collecting of past
injuries to the bone such as a broken femur or a fracture to the occipital region of the skull that could
be used to slim down the search among missing persons. Thus, allowing investigators to exclude

The Effect Of Reaction Time On Cyclohexanone
Results and discussion
4.1. Polymerization mechanism
In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a non nucleophilic
agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate by losing αhydrogen. The formed
enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol
intermediate. The polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl
group of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. In the present
study, the effect of reaction parameters on conversion of cyclohexanone and the product properties
was extensively analyzed. The most probable dimeric (monomer repeating unit (n) =1) and polymeric

The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the products with
reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is around 0.29. The analysis shows that
solubility of the products in MTO decreases with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the
gradual decrease in solubility may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products
with time. The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of monomer is
around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products increases with the increase of
reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of solubility and increase of viscosity with time)
clearly indicates that the extent of polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. The average
value of moisture content in the products is 1.82

Indigenous People By Thomas King
Indigenous people are constantly put into categories by the North American government without the
White Canadians and Americans realizing it. Thomas King has a particular notion that as a society
there are three classifications that an Indigenous person can fall under; Dead, Live, or Legal Indian.
King uses the term Indian which some may seem as offensive although King proclaims: Terminology
is always a rascal and that there will never be a correct term to use, he suggests using the term that
people call themselves. Considering King s quote this paper will mainly include the terms Indian and
Indigenous when referring to Native Americans. Thomas King explains a Dead Indian as the North
American indigenous cliché of beaded, shirts, fringed deerskin dresses, loincloths, and moccasins.
With this description, Dead Indians are those who are noticeably Indigenous due to their clothing that
is typically only worn for ceremonies or dances. Live Indians are the forgotten about because they
happened to be forced into a reservation, dispersed in the rural areas, and cityscapes of North America
whereas King suggests where they were supposed to die out. King suggests that Live Indians are the
Indigenous people who are living in North America currently. Live Indians are biological Indians, but
due to the white society s perception of the Indigenous People Live Indians are not real Indians.
Lastly, Legal Indians are also Live Indians, but only the ones who are recognized by the

Overhauser Effect Essay
Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) through Overhauser effect has several applications including
Overhauser enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (OMRI) and considerable interest in the field of
biomedical imaging [1 8]. Recent experiments on common free radicals are often used such as family
of nitroxide free radicals, and several studies have done to determine which derivatives give the best
signal enhancement [7 11]. For low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI) and as
contrast agents for OMRI, nitroxyl radicals have been used as spin probes [4,12], and successfully
obtained images of tissue water protons in the vicinity of paramagnetic radicals and achieved in vivo
imaging [13].Recently, isotropically labeling nitroxyl spin probes used to investigate redox sensitive

In ESRI, both spatial and the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes are
obtained. Hence, ESRI often presents the in vivo of the spin probes without complementary
anatomical information. In contrast, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) gives superior anatomic
information. OMRI is a double resonance technique that depends on the Overhauser effect. It coupled
the advantages of MRI with the sensitivity of ESR, by making use of the Overhauser effect [4,16]. In
this phenomenon, the relatively stronger magnetic moment of the electron is used to transfer of
polarization from unpaired electron spins to the coupled proton spins results in the enhancement of the
NMR signal in regions of the sample containing free radical, revealing its spatial distribution in the
final image. This leads to the possibility of NMR imaging at very low magnetic fields [4,9,12,17 26].
These advantages motivated us to explore, for the first time, the capability of OMRI for simultaneous
molecular imaging of redox reactions using nitroxyl radicals. Nitroxyl radicals have been widely used
as spin

  • 2. Texas Annual Budget The discussion of Texas and its legislature procedures has been an arising issue for a few decades now. The State of Texas meets every 140 days like three other States; Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota (Fernandez 2013). All of these States including Texas hold session every other year. There have been some basic arguments brought up on both sides of the subject, but I m a supporter in changing the way Texas holds sessions. The discussion of Texas being well served as a biennial legislature brings to light a few issues that I believe should be addressed. I am all for a small government but Texas is too big of a State, and it has too much economic diversity to not be looking at annual budgets. The format Texas uses is way outdated. Texas population has grown in 137 years from I million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The responsibilities of the legislature have become so demanding to where they can no longer be seen on an alternate year basis. Some of the benefits for going to an annual session would be: More meetings which would help to raise the position of legislature, and thereby help to check the flow of power to the executive branch. I am also convinced that having an annual session would be beneficial for the oversight of the administration, and it would put administrative accountability for the execution of legislative policies to be easily enforced. The States may respond more rapidly to new federal laws which require state participation Annual session would eliminate the need for any special sessions The annual sessions may help policy making process more timely and orderly There are always a couple of bills that end up failing to get heard or advanced because of the way Texas holds sessions. Here are a few bills for ex.: Same sex marriage license ban bill A texting and driving bill A traffic light ban ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Refugee Camps And The United Nations High Commissioner For... Throughout historical events including modern day occurrences, the conflict between environmental and humanitarian issues are vouchsafed to be unimportant. Per the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is tasked with addressing the environmental effects and impacts on refugees, and states that the most significant problems from refugees [and camps] include deforestation, soil erosions and depletion and pollution of water resources (UNHCR Social). Yet, after numerous displacements in the Middle East, the world seemed poised to grant a higher priority to lower issues on the agenda for environmental stability. However, despite increasing awareness that environmental decline produces and is a byproduct of conflict, little is known about the linkage between refugee camps and the environment due to a lack of conceptual clarity. As a result, in the case of refugee camps and their ability to impact our environment, refugee camps are a global concern that affects everyone and our global ecosystem. By way of illustration, the dire living conditions in refugee camps [and the harboring diseases that they can create] are less often a focus for international humanitarian attention. In fact, many who are uprooted from their homes [during violent conflict] travel countless miles in search of safety [in refugee camps] only to face new perilous circumstances. Currently, living conditions within refugee camps are often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Layout Of Rev Ads In society it seems that everywhere we look we are surrounded by advertisements whether it is television commercials, billboards or advertisements. Obviously, the main purpose of advertisements is to get the consumer to purchase the product. Print advertisements are an extremely effective way to reach a mass audience because the advertisements are in print, the use of color, text and photography are all key factors in luring the consumers in to buying their product. Advertisements cannot simply attempt to sell the product in question; they must make it appeal to the consumer. It is important that advertisements not only attempt to make the product they are trying to sell clear but also to actually make the advertisement mean something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the colors really help, keywords also have a great toll in selling a product. By putting REV UP THE VOLUME in big letter it draws your attention. It draws people in that want more volume for their eyelashes. All caps draws your attention and makes you want to read every word on the ad. By putting that if you use the product you will have denser more numerous lashes in 30 days it make consumers want to buy this product and actually see if the product will work. Last but not least is the layout of this ad. Layout really helps make an advertisement. By making the model take up most of the page, your attention goes directly to her. Even without knowing what the ad is about; if you just look at her you can automatically tell it is a mascara ad by her eyelashes. By putting the words around the model you can read them and after every word you read about it helping your eye lashes you can t help but look back at her eye lashes. The brush of the mascara is out of the bottle so the consumer can see what the brush looks like and how it will form their lashes. The second ad is also found in the Lucky magazine, which means it also mostly targets young teens and women. The mascara in this particular ad is made by Revlon which is a very popular brand of make up. • 5. The Aspects Of Discrimination In The Workplace Introduction Discrimination, it is such a strong word that has many meanings. It can be referred to as the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex (Merriam Webster). It is a topic that most people do not want to face the facts that people still have to face discrimination in the workplace to this very day. Since 2011, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [EEOC] has received over 45,000 complaints that are directly related to racial discrimination (Gaille, 2017). Discrimination should be a thing of the past it should not be an issue that someone has to get up every day and face in their place of work. We need to learn how to treat each other based their own personality instead of a group as a whole. Discrimination is not a dirty world and once people learn to not be so afraid of talking about it and learning how to address it, then discrimination in the workplace will become a thing of the past, where it belongs. Background Being a Hispanic female, I am always intrigued about how discrimination is still a huge issue. I want to be in a workplace where people are just judged by their work performance and not the color of their skin, gender, or sexual preference. I currently work in a department of all men and I love that my manager gives me the same kind of hard trailers that he gives to all the men he does not give me easy trailers just because I am a female. • 6. Maya Angelou Ma 2(1565443) Maya Angelou is known as the most visible black female autobiographer/poet. She was born, Marguerite Ann Johnson, on April fourth, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents divorced when she was three, and she and her brother were sent to live with their grandmother in Stamps, Arkansas. Seeing all the racial discrimination in the American south strengthened her passion for poetry, music, dance and performance. Maya writes about the struggles people face, racism and freedom. At age eight, Angelou went mute for five years when she believed that her words killed a man. These years of silence helped develop her extraordinary memory, love for books and literature, and her ability to listen and observe the world around her. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lyric is poetry that gives emotion. An example of lyric in the poem is But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing. (Angelou 8 14). Lyric makes the poem more serious and helps express the poet s feelings about racism better. It adds emphasis by showing how one bird is free and the other is trapped and restricted. The speaker of the poem is the poet. The speaker of the poem is Maya Angelou because she is telling what it is like to be free or trapped. An example would be The free bird leaps on the back of the win (Angelou1 2).the theme of the poem is that being able to do your own things and make your own decisions, is better than being trapped and struggling. • 7. Physics of Boating Essay The first thing you should know is the physics behind a boat, seeing how you can t have a boating adventure without one. To keep it simple, let s check out the main thing you should know about a boat: Buoyancy. Buoyancy, by definition, is the upward force exerted by a liquid on any immersed object. If the force of the liquid on the object is greater than that of the object on the liquid then the object will float. In other words buoyancy is dependent upon the density of the liquid and the volume of the object submerged. Buoyancy: Fb= d*g*V Where Fb= the magnitude of the buoyant force d= density of the liquid, g= force of gravity (9.8 m/s^2), V= volume of the submerged object All object displace fluid when in a liquid, ... Low tide is when you smell dead fish. High tide is when the smell is somewhat less stinky. The bald eagle is not an uncommon sight when boating in Southeast Alaska. It is a massive bird that flies with the greatest of ease. Lets take a look at the casually oversimplified physics behind the flight of a bird. Basically, birds wings are not flat but are shaped like an aerofoil. Air passes over or under the wing as the bird moves forward, or as the wind blows. The air that moves over the top of the wing has further to travel to get across the wing, thus it speeds up. This causes the pressure to drop because the same amount of air is exerting its pressure over a greater area. Therefore, any given point experiences less pressure. This effectively sucks the wing up. Meanwhile the air going below the wing experiences the opposite effect. It slows down, generates more pressure and effectively pushes the wing up. Hence a bird with air moving over its wings is pulled up from above and pushed up from below. Marine Mammals Communication: Whales are amazing mammals on many levels. Needless to say, the purchase of airline tickets with cash brings attention to self. Regardless to travel near or far, people usually go online and purchase their tickets in advance using a credit card for security purposes and conformation. Naturally, when traveling, people carry less cash as possible because of the high rate of crime. Unfortunately, Andrew Sokolow, a young African American brought attention to himself because of his appearance, purchase of a forty eight hour trip from one destination to another paying with cash, and excessive nervousness (Levinthal, C. F. 2012). Therefore, when you are paying with cash and showing signs of nervousness, suspicion falls upon you and people automatically feel you have the intention to harm others or intention of drug trafficking. None the less, Sokolow was traveling under a false name. Consequently, the tragedy on September 11, 2001, and the loss of more than 3,000 lives were due to ineffective airport security. • 10. Pet Wearables And Connected Device Technology Abstract Every year circuit boards and sensors become smaller and more affordable for entrepreneurs around the world to freely innovate new technologies. Although many of these new technologies are designed to directly interact with humans, some people are adapting this technology to address the needs of working canines. These new devices are then being modified to meet the needs of the regular pet dog owner. New devices for pet dogs cover everything from identification, tracking, vital sign monitoring, video cameras and environmental temperature fluctuations to algorithms that translate tail wags and eventually even brain waves into emotions that can be relayed to the owner. Our own smartphones allow most of these innovations to connect owners with their dogs wearables by the use of applications. As technology continues to advance, we will continue to see it being used to help connect owners with their pet dogs. These technologies help owners to have peace of mind and veterinarians have access to health and activity data that would otherwise not be observable at routine examinations. Technology and Your Dog: Pet Wearables and Connected Device Technology Introduction The purpose of this research is to provide awareness for upcoming technologies as they pertain to dogs. • 11. Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay Introduction For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive design. The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style. On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today. The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and imagery. My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online eBook. Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a ... ProbabilisticMulti objectiveDynamic Economic Emission Dispatch of Hybrid Thermal, PV and Wind Energy Resources using HybridBacktracking search with sequential quadraticOptimization Algorithms Abstract The increasing environmental crumbling cost of fuel and decreasing accessibility of fossil fuels necessitates the optimization in hurtful emission alongside the fuel cost. One of the ways to do as such is incorporating the renewable natural resources of energy in the existing power system while satisfying all operational constraints. It is a highly constrained multi objective optimization issue including contradictory objectives with probabilistic and non probabilistic correspondence and non fairness constraints to oblige the uncertainties of renewable Energy Resources. In this paper a hybrid multi objective Backtracking search with sequential quadratic programming optimization algorithm is proposed. The stochastic way of photovoltaic and wind energy is displayed by Weibul probability distribution function with solar irradiance and wind speed being stochastic variables. To accept the effectiveness it is first connected as a benchmark to the standard six generator system. Than the entrance of the wind and solar power on cost and emission is dissected in a six generator and twenty generator system and a near analysis with the other optimization methods reveals that the proposed technique is ready to produce better performance. 1. The, The Butcher s Tale, By Helmut Walser Smith Late 19th Century Germany was a time seemingly stuck between two worlds the past and the future and this period s amount of rapid growth and change ultimately resulted in the decimation of German society as was known. This collapse allowed a river of hatred to flow in its place, known as Anti Semitism. Based on the primary and secondary sources discussed in and out of class, I believe there are three main reasons why such a horrendous belief system infiltrated 19th Century German society: conflict between urban and rural populations, rapid freedoms granted to the media, and the ignorance of German politicians who unknowingly or not, pushed political extremists agendas. Often times, people associate government with city as both are often far away and unaware of rural life and its needs. This caused a rift between the people and the government as the people implementing laws and decrees have no true knowledge of how it is affecting the people who are not directly at arms reach . This is most prominent in The Butcher s Tale where the author describes the government s attempts to bring in troops and investigators to quell the ongoing anti Semitic mob and in turn they are easily dispelled. The people in small towns around the German Empire like Konitz were aware that the government didn t understand their needs. This ultimately left them susceptible to the media that they learned their news from. Media was just as ever changing as the society it was taking place within. During this time, media was just beginning to become a nationwide phenomenon. In May of 1874, the Imperial Press Law decreed that there would be freedom of the press. Sharing the same philosophy of Henri Bergeson, who believed evolutionary process (nature) and artist creativity (art) come from the same origin. (32 Bergson) Using nature as a muse of creation, artists used simple curves and lines to define and object to resemble that of a human body or other living natural objects. War brought about conformity and closed minded views on every aspect of life. During this time significant ruler s such as Hitler and Stalin influenced every aspect of life and death for the world. Many artists revolted against the idealism of the time. Moore and Hepworth began the journey and sought refuge and peaceful surroundings of St. Ives to start their own artist group which held (in the beginning) nineteen different artists with the same beliefs and expressions. Moore felt that every material has its own individual qualities. Hepworth s artwork was similar she took ordinary pieces of wood and opened them to new dynamics and shapes appealing to the eye. Polymerization mechanism In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a non nucleophilic agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate by losing αhydrogen. The formed enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol intermediate. The polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl group of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. Effect of reaction time on (a) Monomer conversion, (b) Hydroxyl value, and (c) Iodine value of products (reaction conditions: temp. = 110 C, A/K ratio = 0.2). The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the products with reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is around 0.29. The analysis shows that solubility of the products in MTO decreases with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the gradual decrease in solubility may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products with time. The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of monomer is around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products increases with the increase of reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of solubility and increase of viscosity with time) clearly indicates that the extent of polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. • 28. Indigenous People By Thomas King Indigenous people are constantly put into categories by the North American government without the White Canadians and Americans realizing it. Thomas King has a particular notion that as a society there are three classifications that an Indigenous person can fall under; Dead, Live, or Legal Indian. King uses the term Indian which some may seem as offensive although King proclaims: Terminology is always a rascal and that there will never be a correct term to use, he suggests using the term that people call themselves. Considering King s quote this paper will mainly include the terms Indian and Indigenous when referring to Native Americans. Thomas King explains a Dead Indian as the North American indigenous cliché of beaded, shirts, fringed deerskin dresses, loincloths, and moccasins. With this description, Dead Indians are those who are noticeably Indigenous due to their clothing that is typically only worn for ceremonies or dances. Live Indians are the forgotten about because they happened to be forced into a reservation, dispersed in the rural areas, and cityscapes of North America whereas King suggests where they were supposed to die out. King suggests that Live Indians are the Indigenous people who are living in North America currently. Live Indians are biological Indians, but due to the white society s perception of the Indigenous People Live Indians are not real Indians. Lastly, Legal Indians are also Live Indians, but only the ones who are recognized by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lucy was named as such after the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds , as it had been playing in the expedition camp. Using a famous song to name the skeleton increased public awareness of early humans and evolution studies. Donald Johanson s discovery allowed researchers a much better understanding of what australopithecus afarensis looked like. 2. (D) A specialist in the study of early civilization and early humans is known as a paleoanthropologist. This makes sense as the root of the word paleoanthropologist is the Greek palaeos (old/ancient), and anthrōpos (man). As such, paleontologist is a person who studies ancient man, which would cover both early humans and early civilizations. 3. (B) The recognizable remains of a plant or animal are known as fossils. Overhauser Effect Essay Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) through Overhauser effect has several applications including Overhauser enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (OMRI) and considerable interest in the field of biomedical imaging [1 8]. Recent experiments on common free radicals are often used such as family of nitroxide free radicals, and several studies have done to determine which derivatives give the best signal enhancement [7 11]. For low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI) and as contrast agents for OMRI, nitroxyl radicals have been used as spin probes [4,12], and successfully obtained images of tissue water protons in the vicinity of paramagnetic radicals and achieved in vivo imaging [13].Recently, isotropically labeling nitroxyl spin probes used to investigate redox sensitive molecular probes for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In ESRI, both spatial and the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes are obtained. Hence, ESRI often presents the in vivo of the spin probes without complementary anatomical information. In contrast, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) gives superior anatomic information. OMRI is a double resonance technique that depends on the Overhauser effect. It coupled the advantages of MRI with the sensitivity of ESR, by making use of the Overhauser effect [4,16]. In this phenomenon, the relatively stronger magnetic moment of the electron is used to transfer of polarization from unpaired electron spins to the coupled proton spins results in the enhancement of the NMR signal in regions of the sample containing free radical, revealing its spatial distribution in the final image. This leads to the possibility of NMR imaging at very low magnetic fields [4,9,12,17 26]. These advantages motivated us to explore, for the first time, the capability of OMRI for simultaneous molecular imaging of redox reactions using nitroxyl radicals.
