2. Authority In The Jungle Book
To form an ideal sovereign, another precondition must be attained: all the members in a society
need to obey the law of the nature and to seek peace, and follow it (Hobbes 92). If not, the
existence of a sovereign will not bring any extra good to a society: the state of war (Hobbes 88)
will always exist, no matter whether there is or is not a common power. In the second part of The
Jungle Books, Mowgli decides to let in the jungle to devastate the human village simply to penalize
those who have hurt him. At that moment, he never thinks rationally about whether such a
behavior is appropriate: to exclude all the villagers, most of them innocent (maybe just silly ), out
of their home, just because of several persons malevolence and... Show more content on

For example, when Bagheera tries to save Mowgli from the monkeys, his alliance with the snake

asking for help: fabricating that monkeys have laughed at the snake as footless, yellow earth

the believed that Kaa had turned tail at the last minute. (Kipling 40) If there is a sovereign, they
can cooperate with each other better and carry out their goals easily. However, without those many
preconditions, it is hard to ensure that a sovereign will always work ideally. Since the preconditions
are always unattainable in reality, the ideal commonwealth is still a dream

1.Hierarchical or vertical organization structure:
A hierarchical organization is an
organizational structure like a pyramid one or a group of people at the top who inform employee of
policies and procedures, point out problems that need attention, and offer feedback about
performance; then the subsequent levels of people below them, who stay in the bottom of the
pyramid. This is the dominant mode of organization among large organizations; most corporations,
governments, and organized religions are hierarchical organizations with different levels of
management, power or authority. In this traditional structure, the communication process flows
through layers, employees receive their works from direct manager, who interprets orders from the
higher manager and employees send information about their work back to the direct manager. This
structure makes it easy to plan and implement business strategies, that is, if employees stick to the
established patterns of communication.
2. Horizontal or flattened organizational structure:A horizontal organization is an organization that
has an organizational structure with few or no levels of middle management between staff and
executives. The idea is that well trained workers will be more productive when they are more
directly involved in the decision making process, rather than closely supervised by many layers of
management. This structure empowered

Is there a way to combine all of the medical imaging devices to create a complete and thorough
representation of the body? This question dogged my mind during the time between the end of high
school and the first year of my undergraduate study. This question also fueled my interest in the
field of medical imaging; which in turn, assisted me in determining the direction my
undergraduate courses and research topics would lead. Because of the endless possibilities in the
field of medical imaging, research in this field is both diverse and fascinating. Of particular
interest to me in this field is the research and development of medical imaging devices and

automated image segmentation and diagnosis, but also acquainted me with the importance and
convenience of such systems. This concept was further developed by a course on image processing

encompass the topic. In addition, multiple courses in the academic field of biophysics expanded
my knowledge of human biomechanics and the physics of modern medical imaging systems.
Learning how CT, x ray, PET, MRI, ultrasounds and photoacoustic imaging functioned and how
computers process the signals received from these machines was the highlight of my

At the beginning of the story The Sentimentally of William Tavener, Ms. Hester states that she
believes Mr. William should allow their children to attend the annual circus. She begins
rambling about her experience at the circus as a child and the joy she remembers of it. She
expects not a word from Mr. William as always, but today he spoke up. To her surprise, Mr.
William had attended the same circus also remembers it joyfully. A explanation as to why the plot
is ordered this way is because they begin the story in a seemingly normal argument. They lead you

I ll miss my father, I already miss him, greatly... I ll miss his stories, his laughter, the fire of his
opinions, and especially the quiet strength of him. Yet, I think it s one of the truths of the world
that the people we miss the most are also the ones that we can t miss, because we carry so much of
them with us.
My father was something of a paradox. On the one hand he stands out in my mind for his stories,
his wit, and the fire of his opinions. Anyone who s argued with him, and that s quite a few of us,
knew that he had strong opinions and argued them with zeal. On the other hand, at the same time,
he was a quiet man, who kept a lot of what he felt on the inside, someone who taught more by

I cannot forget his tale about sneaking into the doctor s office with his friend so they could

The three types of macronutrients are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Fatty acids are separated into
three categories: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. The unsaturated fatty acids are
known to play a role in cognitive function, learning, and behavior.1, 2 Omega 3 fatty acid is one of

In most cases, students who are not proficient in reading or spelling during the early school years
often have difficulty in other subject matters throughout their education. All factors of education
including nutrition, should be considered when evaluating ways to improve learning capabilities
in children. In terms of nutrition, omega 3 is vitally important during gestation and infancy for
early brain development. However, omega 3 fatty acids are present in a limited number of foods
and the predicted intake by American children worldwide is commonly low. Omega 3 fatty acids
have been highlighted in research to better understand the association between nutritional
deficiencies and learning difficulties. In the event that a child has an omega 3 deficiency related
to poor intake or absorption, it is likely that their learning and/or behavior would see benefits
from improving their omega 3 status. There is clearly an interest and a number of research studies
that are investigating the effects of omega 3 fatty acids on cognition, learning and behavior in
healthy children. Overall, the studies included in this review generally agree that making
improvements in a child s fatty acid intake may initiate brain activity changes that are observable
in regards to learning and behavior. The results of neurophysiologic tests showed a measureable
change in the brains activity as a result of omega 3

12. The Great, By Richard Bausch
Happily Never After
The universe doesn t owe you, me, or anyone a thing, except for death. Though as kids most of
us were led to believe that with enough effort and hard work were going to become whatever we
wanted to be, we were going to have whatever our little hearts desired, and we were going to do
whatever we wanted to do. However, as we grew up we realized that this is not the case. There
are millions of people who did not become professional athletes, models, or billionaires, people
who never got to have the mansions, cars, and fame that they always longed for, people who
never got to travel the world, cure cancer, or fly into space. These are all mostly childlike dreams,
which were probably imposed unto us by either our parents or society. There s nothing wrong with
children having these sort of improbable dreams, however, there comes a time where we can no
longer be children. In the story Tandolfo the Great, written by Richard Bausch, we are introduced to
Rodney Wilbury aka Tandolfo the Great, who is a suitable example to demonstrate what life can
be like for those who are unable to grow out of their childlike mind sets. In this analysis I will be
inspecting how Tandolfo the Great s childish mind set, from his strong sense of entitlement to his
inability to let go of the past events, has almost destroyed his life and how it can destroy anyone
else s.

I really dislike this trait in myself, so when I read it in Eli I took an immediate disliking to his
character in trying to suppress my own feelings about myself. But this is not the only flaw I noticed
about myself from the story.
Eli s mother Sylvia and I also have a lot in common. Through out the entire story she was enraptured
in talking about how many Remenzels had attended the Whitehill School and what contributions
they had made to it. She stated during one part of the drive to the school:
I look through this catalog, and I see all the buildings named after Remenzels, look through the

thinking people named Remenzel are entitled to ask for a little something extra.
She was, infact, so enthralled by this information and talking of the school that she failed to notice
the strange and awkward behavior of her son. Again, it took reading the story a few times to
understand that this is another unattractive quality that I possess. I have the ability to become
overly involved in things and I forget to pay attention and listen to the people around me. What
particularly stood out in my mind and made me aware of this similarity was Sylvia s excessive
repetition of the word I. To me it represents her attention only being focused on what she

obtain the alkanes is much valuable to burn it all as a motor fuel. Alkanes derivatives are used in
hundreds of products such as plastics, paints, drugs, cosmetics, detergent, etc. (R, N. n.d.).
Alkenes are an unsaturated chemical compound containing at least one carbon to carbon double
bond. The simple alkenes have only one double bond and no other functional groups. For
example, (C=C). The boiling points of each alkene are very similar to that of the alkane with the
same number of carbon atoms. In this case, the alkenes have a boiling point which is a small
number of degrees lower than the alkane. Each alkene has 2 fewer electrons than the alkane with
the same number of carbons. (Clark, J. 2003).
Hydrocarbons that contain carbon carbon triple bonds. The triple bond adds two elements of
unsaturation. For example, (Cп‚єC). They are insoluble in water. In addition, their boiling points
show the usual increase with increasing carbon number. The unsaturated nature of alkynes means
that most of their reactions will be similar to those of alkenes.
The difference between these groups is in the bond types between carbons. Alkanes form only
single bonds, alkenes form double bonds, and in alkynes, there is one triple bond. The structural

The United States saw the need to help Europe rebuild and came up with the Marshall Plan. The

The largest recipient of the aid was the United Kingdom, followed by France and West Germany.
The aid was divided by using the per capita basis. The larger amounts were given to the major

financial crisis happened because banks were able to create too much money to fast and used it to
increase house prices faster than wages. They increased the amount of money and debt in the
economy. Eventually, the debts became unpayable and the banks saw themselves in danger of
bankruptcy where people could not repay them and limited their spending. A downward spiral

model you can see a decrease in aggregated demand, which causes a recession involving a decline

vehicle for sustainable development.
The events sector has a big impact on the economy, creating substantial and seasonal job

environment for it to expand therefore being a strong vehicle for sustainable development.
Sustainable development being a process which has means to maintain the ability of natural
systems whilst meeting particular needs of the present. Doing this without negotiating the ability of

necessarily mean we lose out now as we cannot achieve this unless we change the way things are

Looking at sustainability in the events industry it is really all about good practice within the

22. Was Haman Hanged Or Impaled In The Book Of Esther Analysis
Was Haman Hanged or Impaled in the Book of Esther?
As part of the battle between Mordecai (the hero) and Haman (the villain), Haman plans Mordecai s
death, but in the end the instrument of death is turned on Haman himself.
According to the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), Haman s wife suggested (verse 5:14)
that a gallows fifty cubits [seventy five to eighty feet] high be made ... to have Mordecai hanged on
it.
The Jewish Publication Society of America Version (JPS).
translation offers instead, Let a stake be put up ... to have Mordecai impaled on it. Verse 7:10
details the plot reversal: The King s men either hanged Haman on the gallows (NRSV) or impaled
Haman on the stake (JPS).
Which is it? Was it a gallows or stake? And was Haman hanged or impaled?
King James Version (KJV), the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the New American
Standard (NAS) render the beginning of the verse the same: So, they hanged Haman on the
gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. However, consider the NIV s take on the text:
So, they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. (and to be fair, the NRSV
contains a note that it should be rendered on a tree by impalement )
Clearly, hanging by the neck until dead and being shoved on a sharpened, wide perimeter stick are
two (2) separate ways of dying.
Where does the discrepancy come from?
There are two (2) questions here, as there always are with matters of translation.
1.The first is what the original Hebrew means.
2.The second is how best to say that in English.
Let s look at the Hebrew to examine the two (2) words in dispute.
Gallows (KJV)/Pole(NIV)
1.The Hebrew word is ets and it is the most often translated in the Bible as tree, piece of wood, or
pole.
2.The only examples of the word being translated as gallows appear in The Book of Esther
Hanged (KJV)/Impaled(NIV)
1.The Hebrew word talah is used here and is the source of complexity in interpreting the image of
death.
2.The word translates most often in the Bible to mean suspend or hang, and there are numerous
examples of people hung on ets throughout the OT: Genesis 40:19, Deuteronomy 21:22, Joshua
8:29 and 10:20, 1 Samuel 31:10, and 2 Samuel

28. The Threat Of Large Scale Information Security Breaches
This paper will discuss the possibility of large scale information security breaches, the hardware
and software hacked, the hardware and software needed to perform a real time attack, and the
consequences with performing such an attack. This paper will first define any related terms, then
describe the information securitysystems seen in the WATCH_DOGS video game, then discuss the
various hardware and software involved in an attack in regards to the game and real life, and
finally conclude with whether or not the concepts in WATCH_DOGS are realistic and possible
today.
Introduction In the information age of today, the information security is one of the more prevalent
issues that drive information security professionals and computer technicians to build smarter and
stronger software and hardware. In the virtual world of video games, where the effects of
something as devastating as a security breach have no real world repercussions, information
security can still be a serious topic.
One of a popular video game publisher s new titles that have been released recently has taken the
realistic fear of information security and made it into an interesting adventure, where the main
protagonist is every credit card owner s worst nightmare: a hacker. Granted, the game s scenario
might be too specific to say it could exist in the real world, but how plausible would it be for a

release, she never felt safe wherever she was and decided to leave. However, the transition from
Puerto Rico to the United States is not proving easy for her and she has many concerns. One of
her more pressing concerns was not having winter clothes for herself and her three children.
Because of the children s sizes, there was not much her scatter site shelter could provide her

33. Symbolism in The Things They Carried Essay
A. Park
The Things They Carried
The symbols in Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried are essential to understanding the soldiers
and their lives during the Vietnam War. At the opening of the story, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross would
dig into his foxhole and read the letters while imagining romance with Martha; however, at the end
of the story after the death of Ted Lavender, he crouched at the bottom of his foxhole and burned
Martha s letters (402). The inner feelings of Cross would be mistakenly ignored without the help of
symbols throughout his travel through Vietnam. O Brien uses the emotional and physical weight
carried by the soldiers as a representation of their personalities and how they prefer to cope with the
war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had touched these items day by day, wondering who had been beside her while she had
retrieved the pebble from the beach, or who placed the shadow in the photo of her. His mind
would race day and night, making it difficult for him to provide adequate attention on the war.
Cross would yell at his men to spread out the column, to keep their eyes open, but then he would
slip away into daydreams, just pretending, walking barefoot along the Jersey shore; with Martha,
carrying nothing (396). Cross would hope for nothing more than to be carrying nothing. These
physical objects weighed him down terribly after the death of Ted Lavender. He had loved Martha
much more than his men, and due to his overpowering love he had lost one of them. The pebble
was not only a symbol of importance to Cross as he dealt with the trauma of war, but as the
physical weight he carried due to the death of his man. These physical symbols helped to identify
a shift in the story when Cross decides to open up and make a change to the way he is coping
with the war after Lavender s death. This wouldn t help Lavender, he knew that, but from this point
on he would comport himself as an officer (403).
Another symbol O Brien used in the story was the superstitious items carried by the soldiers which

34. A Report From Unesco Of A Good Education For Girls Essay
Dr. Martin Luther King once said no one is free until we are all free . This idea sounds very
simple, but it lays a profound message to many different events and issues that are happening
around us, including many big challenges to the world such as racial and ethnic discrimination.
However, there is a sub issue to those challenges that we rarely think of it as a discriminationgirls
education. By investing in a good education for girls all over the world teaching them how to
empower themselves, we are contributing to eliminate discrimination and empower the world.
A report from UNESCO in October 2013 shows some shocking statistics about girls and women
around the world. There are 1.8 billion young people in the world. Approximately half of them 900
million are adolescent girls and young women, but 62 millions girls worldwide are not in school. As
a result, they lack the basic skills for work: Two thirds of the 774 million illiterate people in the
world are female. This will have some lifelong effects. Girls will face limited opportunities and
choices in the job market. They lack basic health knowledge and will be subjected to serious
health risks, and threatened by violence. They don t know about their basic rights, so their views
and concerns are often unheard. These three effects are enough to prove that girls are
discriminated against as females Therefore, if education is the key to their future, what doors can
it open for those girls? They will be less likely

36. The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher
Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what
happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense
perception post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their
lifetime. Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed
that deathis the end of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational
(Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124 125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in
support of him claiming the fearof death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience
argument. In his own words Epicurus claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to
Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in the privation of experience argument
Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of death. So, for the purpose of
this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of our existence. In this
essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based on my
interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given that
one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being
dead.
Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that
Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view

Jung, C. G. (1972). Two essays on analytical psychology
Jung s Two Essays on Analytical Psychology includes the works The Unconscious in the Normal
and Pathological Mind and The Relation of the Ego to the Unconscious, which are 1928
revisions of previously written papers. Jung, who was Freud s well known disciple from 1909 to
1914, held ideas different from Freud s and Adler s that eventually led to personal differences
between them, particularly with Freud; their followers have continued these differences. One of
the point of disagreement is Jung s opinion that Freud s concept of the libido is too concerned
with sexuality and that Adler s will to power is also too simplistic. Alternatively to Freud, he calls
the libido the basic tank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Freud and Adler had difficulty in refusing the development of both humanity
and the individual and were rigid in their beliefs.
Jung believed that psychic energy had its foundation in the tension of opposites; this energy could
only be used when the proper gradient was found. He also introduced two very different theories of
neurosis, with the first focusing the object and the second emphasized the subject, are viewed as
manifestations of an oppositional type. The introverted personality type focuses on the subject
while the extraversion type focuses on the object; however, these two types are rare observed in
their unadulterated state. Moreover, the dynamics of a relationship between individuals who retain
contradictory personality types was examined by Jung. Alternatively, to contrast with the concepts
of Freud and Adler, they describe neuroses as sometimes allocating useful adaptive functions.
The Unconscious in the Normal and Pathological Mind
Jung considers and discusses the concept of the collective unconscious as well as its role in the
process of transference within psychotherapy. He suggests that the traditional method of dream
analysis which must be followed by a discussion when it is believed that the symbols presented
originated in the collective unconscious. Jung has noted the process of unification of the

39. Climate Change Of The California Valley Oak ( Quercus...
Habitat shift is another strategy used by plants to evade climate change. The term evade may be
more relevant here owing to the fact that with habitat shift a plant can translocate to a different
area. Typically with habitat shift a plant will move to a different habitat, as implied by the name.
An example of this can be seen in the California Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), which is very
sensitive to climate change. This species when exposed to elevated temperatures shifts itself
northward and tends to move from a largely terrestrial habitat to the edges of water sources. This
is not foolproof because their new habitat presents a dead end for the species. The rapidly
increasing climate will eventually kill the Quercus lobata (McLaughlin and Zavaleta 2012). These
shifts can be even more drastic. For example, one paper used computer models to observe climate
change in Germany. Based off of predicted models the paper inferred that many species would
begin shifting to the Iberian Peninsula in order to avoid climate change (Bergmann et al. 2009).
Again, this shift could later become an issue as with the Quercus lobata because of the dead end
scenario. The dead end scenario is not the only limitation associated with habitat shifts. Other
limitations include the plants intrinsic abilities to move these distances. It will be discussed further
a little later in the paper, but if a planthas poor dispersal mechanisms than it wont be able to escape
climate change. Furthermore, if a

are many different definitions of communication, but all communication definitions explain the
process of transmitting information, the framework of the information, and the effects of that

It was September 20th of 2011 when I stepped aboard a bus heading to Recruit Training

42. How Congestion Growth Affects Income Growth
Our primary interest is to identify how congestion growth affects income growth in a metropolitan
region. In Table 2 and 3, the results of the simultaneous equation models show that the coefficient
estimates for congestion growth are negative and significant at the 10% level. That is, congestion
growth has a negative effect on income growth in both 2000s and 1990s. Specifically, every one
percentage increase in congestion growth leads to a 0.07% and a 0.19% decrease in income growth
during 2000s and 1990s, respectively. As expected, the results show that congestion growth has a
negative effect on income growth. In addition, the initial condition of traffic congestion is
negatively associated with income growth in 1990s, meaning that higher levels of initial traffic
congestion negatively affects householdincome. However, it is not statistically significant in 2000s.
The coefficient estimate for the employment growth is statistically positive at the 1% level in
1990s. Specifically, all else being equal, every one percentage increase in employment growth
leads to a 0.60% increase in income growth during the period. This result supports notion that
employment growth raises wages and thus produce positive wage growth (Lewis, et al., 2002).
This is because positive employment growth provides more available jobs, which attracts job
seekers. Increased population affects employment by increasing demand and services and
providing a larger workforce as well. Such shifts in regions

43. Summary Of The Film Irobot
Underneath the sound effects, costumes and out of world context, films of science fiction
frequently contain hypothetical implications that mimic modern society in the way that artificial
and biological life communicate. The film IRobot (2004) directed by Alex Proyas, leads readers
through the year 2035 where humans and robots life side by side, until detective Del Spooner
discovers a conspiracy that may enslave the human race. IRobot comments on the notion that, Art
Imitates Life by using film codes, such as camera shots and colour to identify the importance of
the unification of artificial and biological intelligence, and that humankind s quest to evolve can
lead to a lack of individuality. Symbolic and audio codes reveal that technological and human
power can be a corrupting force in both the fictional world and modern society. IRobot encourages
viewers to take the messages about technological danger and look at our own current society to
