years. Yet Nelson Mandela made it his goal to conquer the white supremacy and racial segregation of
his beloved country. Mandela s long journey and dedication for South Africa was duplicated by
Director Clint Eastwood s Oscar nominated film, Invictus. In novel Invictus by John Carlin he makes
Nelson s Mandela s accomplishment of ending the apartheid more strategic and political unlike the
film but kept to Mandela s character. Clint Eastwood showed Mandela as powerful, yet approachable
and humble leader who strategically used the popular universal language of sports to unite post

Africans were broken down into one of four racial groups based on appearance, known ancestry,
socioeconomic status, and cultural lifestyle: Black, White, Colored and Indian. Places of residence and
educational facilities were determined by racial classification. America had dealt with these same

On the eve of his death, the man becomes very drunk and lashes out on all his animals which he loves
dearly, but mostly a cat named Pluto, which eventually he cuts out the cat s eye, and the next morning
he feels remorse, and is overwhelmed by the spirit of Perverseness. And hangs the cat on a limb of a

The mood of The Black Cat is one of perverseness, fright, and uneasiness. The narrator is clearly in
sorrow and is an unreliable narrator, there is also a feeling of suspense and action as the narrator leads
up to the way they discover he murdered his wife.
The Black Cat has a variety of examples of mood, the black cat, hideous, hidden behind the wall,
cemented in by the Narrator himself, His guilt, self hatred, and need for punishment are all exposed
when he bangs on the wall, prompting the black cat to howl, and revealing to the stunned policemen,
