The Development Of A Person Who Is A Beacon Of Hope For...
In a world that is often immersed in darkness, I strive to be a beacon of hope for those who are
mentally and physically suffering. As a person who views the world in an ecological standpoint, I
believe the environment plays a significant role in the development of a person. My personal
experience in struggling with the fallout of my parents divorce, living in unfavorable conditions, and
providing consolation to my family members terrors of abuse has shaped me into a resilient and
perceptive individual. When I was six, my mother filed for divorce due to domestic violence that
resulted in my father leaving California. He refused to pay child support, bringing my family of five
into poverty. Having had few resources for an extended period of time, I began to feel powerless and
shameful for not being able to fix the situation. Thankfully, a family friend referred my mother to
Laura s House, a non profit organization that helps people who suffer from domestic violence. The
organization provided us with emotional support, adequate meals, financial and legal aid. Because of
their selfless efforts we were able to have a sustainable life again. I continue to feel blessed for the
organization s intervention and it showed me that social services impacts lives for the better. Presently,
I have an optimistic outlook on life and I want to reciprocate my experience by contributing my efforts
in helping others as a social worker and spread awareness that receiving assistance is not a

Techniques Used For Human Skeletal Development Of Bone And...
Introduction
The objective of the course and the first laboratory experiments were to familiarize with the practical
skills in physical anthropology. And enable the students of Analysis for human skeletal remains to
identify, locate, describe and analyze the types of cells, tissues and structure of bones as well as the
formation of enamel and dentine.
The first practical session dealt with the microscopic identification of different structure in growth and
development of bone and enamel as well as dentine formation. The other aims of the practical class
was to be conversant with the microscopic identification and description of the cells, tissues in the
bone development, and overall function of the bone.
Materials
The materials used for the present laboratory exercise was comprised of
 Optical light microscope
 Slides
Compact bone, ground preparation
Decalcified preparation
Developing bone
Early dental gum (Observe only)
Late dental gum (Observe only)
Dental cap
Later dentine formation
Enamel formation
Tooth ready to erupt (Observe only)
Out of these only four slides were required to draw for the lab exercise. Moreover, the practical class
aims at preparing the diagrams of the selected slides. This required colored crayons, pencils, and
drawing sheets. The slides for the examination were prepared by our lab assistant or Teaching assistant

An End Of History By Mario Savio
I used to believe that we could be anything that we wanted to be, as long as we wanted it enough; that
was around age 13. I still believe that we can be anything we want to be, with a few changes to that
belief: it has to fit in to the status quo, be accepted by those around you, and provide you with enough
money to live in what society perceives as a comfortable and successful lifestyle. Although a lot has
changed since American political activist Mario Savio wrote the article An End to History in 1964, a
great deal of change is required before students can become part of the system without having to
disregard their creativity and passion. In his article, Savio explains that his vision of the proper role of
the university or any such institution for that matter is one where the institution not only allows its
students to speak freely about the causes that matter to them, namely political matters, but also allows
students to mould themselves into the people they want to be, rather than the institution moulding
them into the people society wants them to be. Savio explains that he believed the greatest problem in
the United States during the 1960s (and arguably twenty first century) to be the depersonalized,
unresponsive bureaucracy, that bleeds into the very institutions used to shape the future leaders of the
country. He continues by stating that because of the bureaucracy which controlled these post
secondary institutions, students were forced to give up the

Classism And Lack Of Personal Awareness
Classism and Lack of Personal Awareness Will Persist
Both Julian in Flannery O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge and Cassio in Shakespeare
s Othello have been raised to act and to believe that they are exceptional among their peers. This
ingrained belief that they are better than others presents itself in the way they think and speak to those
around them, who they choose to associate with, and how their lack of personal awareness negates any
good intentions they may have.
Both Cassio and Julian s breeding are the root causes of each man s unique brand of classism. Cassio
was born a Florentine and brought up to be a gentleman. In the days of Shakespeare it was essential
that a gentleman possess the skills of flirtation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are numerous areas in both literary works where Julian and Cassio display blatant classism
towards those around them. Cassio provides a fantastic example of classism when he says, The
Lieutenant is to be saved before the Ancient. This is because of the belief that your positions in life
were designated by God and therefore would be reflected in heaven as well. Cassio even exhibits
anger and a determination to defend his honor when Roderigo corrects his manners. A knave teach me
duty? I ll beat the knave into a twiggen bottle. Cassio considers it to be ridiculous and insulting to be
corrected by Roderigo, a lesser class of man. While Shakespeare s Cassio displays unconcealed
classism, Flannery O Connor s Julian is a more subdued example, as the majority of his classism is
relegated to the judgements of others within his internal monologue. As his aggravation with his
mother reaches its breaking point he verbalizes his classism by saying, You haven t the foggiest idea
where you stand now or who you are. Believing he is superior to his mother, Julian feels entitled to
speak condescendingly to her on more than one occasion. He withdraws into his mind which is

Raising A Minimum Wage
A 2015 CBS/New York Times survey found that 71 percent of Americans favored an increase to the
minimum wage. (Doyle, pg 2). What if I tell you that raising a minimum wage is not a good idea for
our society? Would you believe that increasing a minimum hourly rate might cause more harm than
good in a long run? What if setting a high minimal wage will actually kill many jobs and increase
unemployment? Did you think that this raising minimum wage games are the never ending loops, and
are created to manipulate people, as they do not really improve or raise the quality of people s life?
A lot of politicians, to be perceived as caring, concerned and compassionate, love to talk about raising
a minimum wage. And immediately majority of poor people see the politicians as heroes who stood up
to protect them from greedy employers. Now people perceive the issue with the minimum wage as a
war between employees and employers. This is happening because not too many people know what
raising a minimum wage actually means, what are the long and short time effects, who is going to be
effected and how, what will happen to prices and standards of living, where the money will come
from, what will happened to unemployment and inflation rate. People seem do not understand that
everything comes with a cost.
Whether to raising a minimum wage, is well argued question between businessmen s, economists, and
politicians. As the issue is very complicated and complex, as it depends on different

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PH Federalism
PH Federalism Debate: Where Are We Now?
The Constitution, regarded as the fundamental law of the land, is the foundation of our institutions.
Constitutions seek to build, enable and regulate institutions that cater the needs and rights of people (
What is a Constitution? ) They also have a key role in empowering states, providing government
stability and legitimizing regimes (Heywood 338).
Any attempt at an amendment or revision of our constitution entails a complex process of discourse
and decision making. Amendments mean changing specific provisions in our Constitution without
affecting its other parts. But, a revision implies a fundamental review to change the essence or totality
of our Constitution ( How To Change A Constitution. ). With the ongoing debate on the viability of a
shift to a federal form of government in the Philippines, not only politicians and scholars but the
citizenry should pay a close attention because everyone will be affected by ... Show more content on

Policy Conference (Agabin et al.; Corpuz et al.). These lectures evaluated, discussed and analyzed the
prospects of federalism in the country using different perspectives and fields of inquiry where
reception for federalism ranged from full support to constructive criticisms. In general, advocates of
federalism argue that under a federal system, the Philippines will have a more inclusive economic
development by allowing the regions to have better fiscal autonomy. Moreover, they see it as way to
ensure more avenues for representation through regional governments that know better of policies that
suit local conditions while bringing the government closer to the people accommodating our country s

Reading the Old Testament Essay
The Old Testament and the Bible itself has been studied extensively for centuries. Archeologists and
Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how
many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about it
or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author
Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different
names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for
Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is
more than one author of the Pentateuch. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sources that do not come from the bible specifically are ones that have everything to do with it but
show some insight as to the history of it. They help peel a little off the mystery that the bible is
surrounded by. The Nova website gives us an insurmountable amount of information about the
archeology, history, and thoughts on the bible. Therefore without these sources, we would be in the
dark on what was behind the bible and without that knowledge people would be more skeptical of the
bible that has no background to as how it came to be in existence. If there was no history or sources
behind it then we would have no idea why these authors felt compelled to write anything and what
their culture was like that influenced it. Most importantly we would never be able to answer the
question, who wrote the bible? Higher criticism are techniques of analysis to find out what
circumstances surrounded the writing of the bible, how many versions there are, and plenty of other
questions (Boadt 80). One of these criticisms is source criticism which is also called literary criticism.
This deals with whether earlier to the written word we have if there were others before and how they
were incorporated into the present text (Boadt 81). In the bible especially in the Pentateuch there is a
considerable amount of evidence in the text of more than one

Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood
The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents lives was affected
negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment where
drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly African
American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of the
adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with adversity.
Ricky as a character displayed the effects of understanding the traumatic human development and
normal human development. Traumatic human development is when one is open to danger and
violence. One can be open to traumatic development directly or indirectly on a centered foundation.
Ricky environment exposed him negativity. A majority of the negativity that Ricky is exposed to is
gun violence, gangs, drugs and other negativity as well. Due to his environment being looked down
upon and him being an African American male from a certain area of Los Angeles town he was
viewed upon negatively by society. For instance, a scene from the movie dictates Tre and Ricky is
pulled over by cops. The cops, one African American the main cop posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to
society. Being harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as though they had no place in of
belonging in that part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an African American male it was difficult
enough for him to be successful in his environment. Ricky was not as fortunate to have the resources
he needed. He was limited to many resources but, his limitation did not interfere with him having
normal development. The theories that can mainly be relative to this movie, as well as the character
Ricky, are person in environment, systems theory, and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012).
The first theory that can be associated with character Ricky is the person in environment theory.
Person in environment theory had some effects on Ricky. Ricky s environment consisted of drugs,
gangs, and even murders. His environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his
motivation to escape. Unlike his brother Doughboy whom had gotten comfortable in the environment
of his

Other than all of the important war events that took place at the fort, the National Anthem of the

Overview of Free Trade Barriers
Throughout history nations have utilized trade barriers such as tariffs and embargoes to regulate trade
among other nations (Bartlett, 1998). The purpose of such trade barriers was to provide safeguards for
a nation s imports and exports. The philosophy surrounding the use of trade barriers has changed from
time to time with there being periods when they were used extensively and periods when they were
abandoned entirely. Prior to the First World War international trade was flourishing and although
tariffs were being used by a variety of nations they did little to discourage trade. During and after the
War, however, trading barriers between nations put heavy burdens on international trade and by the
time that the Great Depression struck world trade had reached a point of near stagnation (Madsen,
2001).
The United States and Great Britain in the waning days of the Second World War recognized that a
resumption of international trade was necessary in order to assist the war torn European economy. In
an attempt to avoid the heavy trade barriers that were in operation prior to the War, the United States
injected millions of dollars in aid in order to induce world trade. Such measures worked for a short
period but a more permanent solution was necessary and there was a split of opinion on what the
permanent solution should be. The attempts at reaching a solution became the source of considerable
debate and as time progressed the situation became quite acrimonious.

The Ku Klux Klan And The Klan
The Ku Klux Klan has massively reduced by 1927. While it peaked from having over 3 million
members in 1925, it had no more than several hundred thousand in 1927. Night riding of the Klan led
to at least 50 people getting flogged during a two year period. Outcries of the populace of Georgia and
the Carolinas brought arrests and convictions of the Klan. Therefore, the Klan was forced to retreat.
The Klan endured other handicap when local Klan in the North chapters began to develop ties with
American Nazis, which Southern Klansmen greatly opposed. But, the southern Klansmen was
powerless to stop this coalition. The end of 1944 is when the IRS filed a lien against the Ku Klux Klan
for back taxes of more than $685,000 on profits they earned in the 1920s. A new Klan leader managed
to reorganize the Klan in California, Kentucky, New York and Tennessee, just to name a few. But, both
federal and state bureaus of investigation prosecuted Klan mayhem and the new leadership discovered
that the society was surrounded by enemies. Bond (2011) discloses how ministers were more inclined
to attack the Klan, the press had become more hostile and state and local government passed laws
against cross burnings and masks. Many members of the Klan went to jail for floggings or other
crimes. By the early 1950s, the Ku Klux Klan was at its lowest level since its rebirth.

In complete abortion, the tissues surrounding the embryo or fetus are also expelled. For most of the

The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand Franz at Sarajevo
It was a peaceful day at Sarajevo. The town had gathered to see the parade, but in the end, witnessed a
crime. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo and expected to
arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family. The assassination of
Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. The series of
unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and the troubles that ensued
because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I.
Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bonzia
and Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko
Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back their vehicle and injured a
few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it to a safe place. Later in the day,
Duke Franz Ferdinand went to visit the people injured. As they turned down the street not expecting
anything, BANG, the royalty had been shot. The assassination that occurred caused two world wars,
eighty thousand deaths, the Rise of Hitler. This may not have happened if Princip had not have been

Dual Language Learners
Writing instruction has become one of the most important issues in educational practices. According
to the United States Immigration Policy (2012) based on data from the Census Bureau, there has been
a significant rise of Immigration into the United States, since the 1940 s from less than 1 million to 10
million in 2010. A large increase in immigrants into the United States has increased the demand for
English language instruction significantly (Mei Lin, 2015). With this in mind the educational practices
taking place in today s schools become a center of focus, what should be taught in the classroom and
what programs can give the best outcome. Substantial evidence exists to support dual language (DL)

World War One Was a Senseless War World War One was the first major war that was fought in

There were over a hundred nations involved not only from Europe, but from Asia, Africa, Central
America, North America and many Island nations. There were millions of casualties fighting in slow
moving trench warfare , and many battles were also fought at sea. There are many reason why the
world plunged into its first world war. There were over a half a dozen mutual protection pacts that

In the late 19th century and the early 20th century European nations decided to ally with each other
out of fear of being attacked. They set up mutual protection pacts. These pacts were designed to help
defend their countries if they were invaded. The pacts were known as the Treaty Alliance System. The
main pacts that were present before World War One were; Russia and Serbia, Japan and Britain,
France and Russia, Germany and Austria Hungary, and Britain, France and Belgium. The US was
neutral until the German navy attacked our civilian ships. So if anyone of the countries was attacked it
would set off a chain reaction leading to total war. That is exactly what happened. Another reason why
war was inevitable was Germany was mobilizing a massive army, stockpiling huge amounts of
weapons, and building up its navy at the same time. At the same time Britain was building up a
massive navy as well. Germany and Russia s government were increasingly becoming more
militarized. Each country was trying to show dominance over the other one. The smallest incident, but
the most significant was the assignation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was
the heir to the thrown for Austria Hungary. Austria Hungary believed that Serbia was involved. That
led to Austria Hungary to declare war on Serbia. Russia had a protection pact with Serbia and started

Car Warranty
If your car had a warranty when you purchased it, it probably gave you some peace of mind. The
warranty might have even helped encourage you to purchase the car that you chose. Therefore, the last
thing that you probably want is to find out that your warranty is not valid later on when you need it.
For example, some people end up voiding their car warranties without even realizing it. These are a
few tips that can help you avoid issues with your car s warranty, however.
1. Keep Up With Your Car s Maintenance Schedule
For one thing, your car should have a manufacturer specific car maintenance schedule that lists when
you are supposed to have certain maintenance tasks done, such as changing the oil or flushing out the

Another thing that you might be required to do in order to maintain your car s warranty is to replace
any parts that are faulty with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. Even though you might
sometimes be able to save some money by choosing aftermarket parts instead of OEM parts, you ll

Luckily, in most cases, it s not too difficult to maintain your car s warranty. If you follow these tips,
you shouldn t have anything to worry about. Of course, different car warranties do vary, so if you have

Becoming A Knights Essay
The knights were the third level of feudal society in Europe. Knights were usually vassals who paid
protection and loyalty to their lords in return for land. They were warriors in armor who fought on
horseback and had to have a good deal of wealth in order to afford a full suit of armor and a horse.
Knights wore coats of armor made from metal links called mail and carried swords and shields. A
knight s tactic when fighting in war was that he would charge at his enemies then spear them with his
lance. During the time period of AD 700s to AD 1200s, the knights were the most powerful soldiers in
Europe. Becoming a knight in Europe was a very tough task that started at a very young age. In the

how to sing, dance, compose music, and play the harp, which were skills valued in knights. The young

How Does Cancer Affect People Over 50
In Home Health care Cancer in Those Over 50
Anybody can be diagnosed with cancer. Some people are even born with it. Most cancer, however,
afflicts those who are older. In fact, the National Institute on Aging notes that the chances of being
diagnosed with cancer increases dramatically after a person turns 50. The good news is that the early
detection of cancer and improved treatments have significantly increased the cancer survival rate.
Cancer is a scary word. What is actually means is that a normal cell in the body has become abnormal.
When these abnormal cells replicate, they often lump together and form masses we call tumors.
Sometimes, the cells travel to other parts of the body. This spreading is known as metastasis. Cancers
that are localized are much easier to treat than those which have metastasized. ... Show more content

The risk of breast cancer goes up every year. Testing for cervical cancer is done with a pap smear and
pelvic exam. Women over 50 should have a pap smear at least every three years up to age 65. Some
women do not need pap smears after 65. Doctors recommend a sigmoidoscopy every 5 years and a
colonoscopy every 10 years after the age of 50 to detect colorectal cancer. Regular dental exams not
only keep the teeth and gums healthy, but oral exams also detect mouth and throat cancer. Prostate
cancer is detected through a blood test and rectal exam. Since prostate cancer is the most common
cancer in American men, it is essential that these tests are performed ever couple of years after age 50.

The Mandrill Primate And The Primate
Writing Assignment: The Mandrill Primate For this assignment, I have decided to design an enclosure
about the primate, Mandrill. I will, in words, describe an enclosure that will prevent these nonhuman
primates from not being suited to their natural habitat needs. Throughout this assignment, I will design
my very own version of a perfect enclosure that secures these primates by critically thinking of any
psychological or physical problems that can occur. What also will need to partake is considering the
perspective of the nonhuman primates, the zookeepers, and the visitors as well. Designing an
enclosure has to be precise and detailed. I will do the best I can to be as detailed as I can be when
designing this enclosure. First, to be able to design an enclosure, we must know a little about our
species that will be in it. Well, the Mandrill is a type of primate of the Old World monkey family and
are usually found in parts of South American, specifically Cameroon, Gabon, Guinea, and Congo
(Wikipedia). The Mandrill is known for their colorful characteristics that vary in colors from blue to
violet and also have a scarlet color alongside the bridge and end of their nose (Britannica). In my
opinion, the mandrills are considered to be the most unique and interesting primates that I have seen
and that are why I have decided to write about them. The mandrill is formerly grouped with the
baboons. So, what happens to a nonhuman primate when the zoo enclosure does not suit

Biography Of Sir Isaac Newton s Life
By: Katlyn Arneson Every day there are new better things being offered to the world, whether it be a
new Phone, a new car, or even a new type of medical advancement, there is always going to be
something new that we haven t heard of or seen before. During Newton s time, many people didn t
understand the concept of light, motion or gravity until Newton came around and discovered them. I
know one question that I have is what would our world be like today if these important discoveries
were not found?
Sir Isaac Newton was simply a genius. He discovered many important aspects that are used in the
modern world on a daily basis. He was very passionate about learning and his innovations changed the
world. The first innovation that Newton brought to our world was the discovery of light. Newton said
that white light is made up of many colors. He discovered this by setting up a prism near his window,
and projecting a spectrum twenty two feet onto the far wall, to prove that the prism was not coloring
the light, he refracted the light back together. The advantage of Newton s theory of light is that we
know that light is made up of many colors. If he wouldn t have discovered this phenomena, we would
still think that color was a mixture of light and darkness, which is what people thought before Newton
s theory of light. Along with his light theory, Newton also discovered the lovely subject Calculus and
he invented a telescope using a mirror rather than a lens, which was something

The Oregon Death With Dignity Act
1. The Oregon Death with Dignity Act was put into effect on October 27, 1997. This act allowed
physicians to prescribe to terminally ill patients a lethal dose of medication in order to hasten their
death, even though euthanasia is prohibited in the United States. According to Katrina Hedberg, this
act has been revised by Oregon legislature, but has still been brought to attention of the United States
Supreme Court on raised questions of legality. In order to receive a prescription for the Death with
Dignity Act, the patient must reside in Oregon, be a terminally ill adult, and should be expected to die
within a six month time frame. Along with these requirements, patients must be able to make their
own healthcare decisions. Katrina Hedberg found that over the course of ten years, physicians had
written 546 prescriptions and a total of 341 Oregon residents passed away after the lethal dose under
this act. The medications that were prescribed during this time were secobarbital and pentobarbital,
and most patients would pass away within an hour of taking pentobarbital. Many physicians have
reported that patients who requested these prescriptions often had a loss of autonomy and a decrease
in their ability to engage in activities that they enjoyed. The results showed that these factors had
increased over the course of ten years. According to physicians, patient s concerns of pain had also
increased during this time. This is still very controversial, but findings have shown that

Body Image Research Paper
Is the first impression of a person always right? In the past, I thought impressions were correct almost
one hundred percent of the time, but then, I realized that a person can easily be misjudged. For
example, the first time I came into your classroom, I expected you to be like the majority of coaches,
dull and non exciting. But in reality, you are actually a very lively coach that loves to interact with the
students. For this reason, I think that first impressions of people can be right, but most of the time one
really does not know a person until they have talked and bonded with them for a while. In my opinion,
I think that people can easily be misjudged because of their physical features, such as the way the look
or how the dress, the people they hang out with, or that person may just be having a bad day. First off,
I think impressions are not always correct about people because of the way a person looks or
something as simple as what someone wears. For example, one cannot help if they aren t attractive or
very pretty. Some studies show that about one in three young people struggle with body image.
Furthermore, I think too often people are judged for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Social Scientist Phrase, Presentation Of Self, And Self
In this modern day world, people may continuously confuse similarly used words, and often think they
mean the same thing. However, in reality they don t. Nonetheless, the main focus words are identity,
and self. Identity to me is similar to the social scientist phrase presentation of self , and what that
means is how a person wants to present themselves to others. Similar to actors, and singers that are
constructively criticized by their image, so they can better it to wow their fans. In contrast to self,
which is being true to who you are. As seen in When the Emperor was Divine the family struggle with
knowing their self, and identity. The family begins as middle upper class, materialistic people in
California that are nameless with a sense of family unity, and self worth. Eventually transforming to
isolated, exhausted, loss souls having to wear ID numbers on their collar (p. 24). Starting off with the
father, which is a very symbolic character since he is only spoken about in memories, and letters. Even
so far away his family describes him as loving, caring, and warm hearted. The children would say Our
father, the father we remembered, and had dreamed of, almost nightly, all through the years of the war,
was handsome and strong. He moved quickly, surely, with his head held high in the air. He liked to

Advertising Strategies Essay
Advertising Strategies
When an advertiser places one of their advertisements into a newspaper, they want their advertisement
to appeal to the readers of that particular magazine. They could have the exact same message, but
considering their audience, they could make it more effective if they use a different strategy to market
their product. This is very common for advertising strategies to change when the content of the
magazine changes. You can relate the way that the magazine producers choose their ads by when
Steve Craig says that program producers and schedulers must consider the target audience needs of
their clients (162). The types of advertisements are driven by the content of the magazine. Sports

advertisement, there is a professional fisherman standing in a professional fishing boat which is

front. He is clearly is more special then the average Joe seen on the left side of the advertisement. In
order for the professional fisherman to look better, that half of the ad is printed in color to give it a
more lively feeling. At the bottom of the picture, the words the better it gets. are there creating a
suggestion to the reader that if you have the patience, things will always become better. To tie the
picture back into a promotional opportunity for Evan Williams, there is a picture of a bottle of Evan
Williams whiskey in between the two pictures claiming that it is Extra Aged . In the bottom right hand
corner of the advertisement, it also says Evan Williams. Aged longer to taste smoother. The ad is
trying to sell the fact that because the fisherman waited a long time, he turned out to become a
professional, and since the whiskey they make was aged, it also became better, just like the fisherman.
The reason that they chose to connect the fisherman to the quality of their whiskey was because they
anticipated a lot of males that read Sports Illustrated to be sports minded and be just like that average

Outsourced Data and Cloud Computing
As we know that cloud is a drastic data center for outsourced data. Cloud is a familier tool because of
its useful architectural tools. Data sharing is another common habituated property to the common
people. These data sharing include video data in social networks, this was done regularly through
mobile devices like smart phones, tablets, laptops etc. we focused on demands on video traffic over
mobile networks. Mobile network consist limited bandwidth and long buffering time. To overcome
these issues we suppose adaptive mobile video streaming, efficient social video sharing. These two
approaches shows scalable results in social network environment.
Introduction
Cloud computing is the provision of dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources as a services
over the internet Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology
infrastructure in the cloud that supports them. Cloud computing represents a major change in how we
store information and run applications. Instead of hosting apps and data on an individual desktop
computer, everything is hosted in the cloud an assemblage of computers and servers accessed via the
Internet. Cloud computing exhibits the following key characteristics: 1. Agility improves with users
ability to re provision technological infrastructure resources. 2. Multi tenancy enables sharing of
resources and costs across a large pool of users thus allowing for:

A Complex System Or Context Of Your Choice
Describe a complex system or context of your choice
What is the system you have chosen? Describe some of its qualities
The immune system is a defence mechanism inbuilt in all living organisms comprised of specific
biological processes and structures. Its purpose is to protect against disease using the networks of
cells, tissues and organs that work cohesively for protection. In order to function correctly, the
immune system must be able to detect and distinguish an expansive variety of pathogens that derive
from harmful viruses, bacteria, protozoans, parasites etc. The immune system can be divided into
subsystems including the adaptive immune system and the innate immune system, as well as act as

Simple systems are ordered, easy to predict and have a best practice application however the immune
system has many unpredictable and erratic factors such as new strains of diseases, unusual cell activity
and resistance to medication which could hinder the effectiveness of the immune system.
Chaotic systems have a novel practice where there is no cause and effect relationship that can be
determined. In the immune system, there is a need to probe for the relationships between disease and
cause which would immediately categorise it as a complex system.
Complicated systems apply good practice, but do not have self evident cause and effect relationships.
The immune system requires adaptive and emergent practices in order to aid in the recovery of
organisms. Applying good practice to the immune system would create a band aid solution as it would
not be a long term, emergent practice as a solution.
Demonstrate your understanding of these terms in the system or context you have chosen to explore
An adaptive system takes on new conditions in response to its environment, which improves overall
value for the system and its components. Organisms are inherently adaptive in nature which can be
seen throughout each line of defense. In the first line of defense, the configuration of cilia changes to
seal heat within the body if the environment and the organism is cold. The second and third lines of

The Shortcomings Of The Progressive Era
From 1800 to 1900, the United States population grew by more than 70 million people, and with many
people moving towards an urban life, cities alone grew by about 15 million between 1880 and 1900.
The fertile capitalistic economy allowed for the growth of large corporations, and with the various
innovations that appeared during this period, the U.S. also began to move towards modern
industrialization. This unprecedented rate of advancement also brought in some less desirable
consequences, such as political corruption and harsh working conditions. This, in turn, ushered in the

Negative Effects Of Solar Eclipses
With the impending solar eclipse set to darken the skies briefly on Monday afternoon, physicians
across the country are preparing to treat cases of optical damage caused by glaring at the dark sun.
Unfortunately, many people believe that because the sun is blocked, it blocks the harmful ultraviolet
rays from reaching one s eyes, but that is not the case. Assistant professor in the University of
Alabama at Birmingham, Tamara S. Oechslin, explains it is never safe to stare directly into the sun,
and that includes during the eclipse (Janarthanan). But, these eclipses have been occurring for
thousands of years. In fact, the ancient Chinese believed that solar eclipses were dragons devouring
the sun (NASA). Obviously, the general population has come to a much stronger understanding of
what a solar eclipse entails, but they do not necessarily follow guidance related to viewing the eclipse.
In 1999, a solar eclipse occurred and several thousand people rang helplines or attended special

Maltese Falcon Character Analysis
Do you ever wonder what makes an intriguing classic novel? Many books appear to fall into the
classic category, but few books really turn out to be classics. This topic can go many ways, arguing
what really makes a classic, but there is a basic criteria that classics must meet. The book that I
analyzed was The Maltese Falcon. This book should not be considered a classic because it does not
give the reader a different perspective, there is not a big moral to the story, and because it is not related
to real issues. The Maltese Falcon should not be considered a classic because it does not give the
reader a different perspective. True classics leave the reader with a different mindset, and The Maltese
Falcon fails to do that. For example in the classic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, you have a different view
point at the end of the book. The book gives you a different perspective about the characters and about
the obscure door. In the beginning of the book you are unsure about the mysterious door, but in the
end you realize that the door has meaning. This simple object leaves you with a different perspective
about it. The Maltese Falcon also has a simple object, the falcon itself. The falcon is a main focal point
that the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the setting of the novel is in San Francisco, the novel is not as relevant as is could have been
years ago. In the article Classic is as Classic Does , Lauren Augino states that in order to be considered
a classic it must be related to current issues. In today s society books about sports, school, drama, or
romance would be more appealing books to audiences. The Maltese Falcon is also not a book that
stands the test of time. When readers think of classics they will most likely think of Moby Dick, The
Great Gatsby, or Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. These are a few books that have stood the test of

Andrew Murray Religion
Introduction
Andrew Murray was born in Cape Town, South Africa; Murray became a noted missionary leader. His
father was a Scottish Presbyterian serving the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, and his
mother had connections with both French Huguenots and German Lutherans. This background to
some extent explains his ecumenical spirit. He was educated at Aberdeen University, Scotland, and at
Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After ordination in 1848 he served pastorates at Bloemfontein,
Worcester, Cape Town, and Wellington. He helped to found what is now the University College of the
Orange Free State and the Stellenbosch Seminary He served as Moderator of the Cape Synod of the
Dutch Reformed Church and was president of both the YMCA (1865) and the South Africa General
Mission (1888 1917), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I joke that he is a dead mentor to me, because when I read his writings there is a longing in me to
imitate his faith, his passion for God, his conviction about being holy, his understanding about the
grace of God. I admire just how plainly and affectionately he wrote about heavenly things as though
he truly understood them. I just sit amazed at what God revealed to him and wonder if I will ever truly
know without a shadow of a doubt the things he speaks about. His writings are not just fluff, but are
the meat and potatoes of Christianity. If you read them you will not be disappointed, but you will be
challenged and inspired to believe you really can be godly through Jesus Christ. This is one of my
favorite books, perhaps because it provoked such thoughts of what true surrender is in the life of the
Christian. Should you ever find yourself driven to know the truth about the surrendered life, select this
book and encounter the concepts within. I would recommend this book to current believers who wish
to take their relationship with the Lord to the next level. His writing is geared towards adults, as the
language is appropriate for advanced

Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Sonnet 43
How do I love thee? The infamous Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning is both thought
provoking and lovely, with a somewhat melancholy undertone. How has this small poem shaped the
way we as a human race view love, and how is it that most of us know those first few powerful lines
by memory? Love, of course, it a life changing coarse altering step that nearly everyone strives for.
With millions of songs, films, and plays all shouting out their desperation for love and mutual
affection, it s no wonder that when this small poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning is uttered, many of
us know the words by heart or are at least familiar. Love plays such a role in our day to day lives that
Browning knew it had to be put into words. The melancholy

Immaculee Ilibagiz Influence On Forgiveness
Immaculeé Ilibagiza was born in Rwanda in 1972. She had a mother, father and two older brothers.
When Immaculeé was 22 years old she experienced the loss of her whole family within the Rwanda
holocaust. When their nation started war, Immaculeé was hidden within a pastor s small bathroom
with a group of seven other women for three months. Although her experience was long and horrific
she made it worthwhile by learning to forgive even the unforgivable through the power of forgiveness
and faith. After she had finally been able to escape the genocide, she became an immigrant of the
United States and started writing books of her experiences and how she was able to keep her sanity.
She devoted her life to helping others forgive and heal, especially those who have been victims of
genocide. Countless people have learned to forgive the unforgivable through her words and example
(Ogbozor).

Throughout Immaculée s book, Led By Faith, Immaculée tells the after story of her horrific
experiences throughout the Rwanda holocaust. Including becoming an immigrant of the United States
and learning to keep the power of forgiveness and god within her heart. An example of Immaculeé s
strength is, Even those who had done things as wicked and depraved as the killers who were ripping
Rwanda apart deserved forgiveness (Left To Tell). After Immaculeé IIibagiza had survived the horrific
Rwanda genocide she decided to become more engaged with forgiveness and faith. Her first task was
to forgive those who had been involved with the genocide, specifically the man who had killed her
family. By Immaculeé forgiving who seems to be the most unforgiving person, she inspired many to
be confident in forgiving. She also demonstrates that forgiveness is the cure to moving

Historical Context Of Le Corbusier
When considering the cultural and social aspects of a building, one must study the historical context of
its construction. In the 1920 s, European architecture was beginning to integrate traditional elements
with the new social demands for modern technology. Although many architects and engineers were
involved, Le Corbusier was the French architect who people today believe led this architectural
revolution in Europe. Few are aware of the fact that Pierre Chareau also played a significant role in
this modernist movement. Originally a furniture designer, the Maison de Verre was his first full scale
architectural project. Doctor Jean Dalsace and his wife Annie commissioned Chareau to design their
home and kept a binding friendship throughout and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you walk through the typical Parisian entrance door of 31 Rue Saint Guillaume in the stylish sixth
arrondissement of Paris, you find yourself standing in front of a large glass box. Although one could
argue that the Maison de Verre is an interruption in the continuity of the Haussmannian buildings of
the neighbourhood, it is still hidden away and shielded from the public eye. It may look like the odd
one out, but it reflects the personality of Chareau himself as many architects today consider him as an
outsider . It must be remembered that the Maison de Verre, although an overall individual achievement
in the eyes of modern architecture, was a collaboration between Pierre Chareau and Bernard Bijvoet, a
contemporary Dutch architect who kept a low and modest profile in relation to the buildings he
contributed to. In addition, the skilled metalworker and craftsman Louis Dalbet contributed to the
fabrication of the mechanical toys. Although it received initial criticism for its controversial nature,
the Maison de Verre is a unique and significant contribution to 20th century architecture. Since its
construction, the Maison de Verre has proven to be a touchstone for architects throughout the world,
including Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel, Glenn Murcutt and many others

Eva Peron
Maria Eva Duarte de Peron y La Razon por Su Vida At 8:25pm on the 26th day of July in 1952, all of
Argentina clutched their chests in shock. They had just been told by President Juan Peron that their
beloved and revered Evita had passed away. While the masses wept in her memory a select few
mourned her death with celebratory toasts of champagne. Nevertheless, the Argentine streets were
lined with mourners and flowers from the moment her death was announced until her funeral on
August 11th. Eva defied stereotypes and her memory is forever embedded in the foundations of Latin
American social reform. Transcending her life was her myth and transcending her myth was her love
of her husband, Argentine President Juan Peron and of the Argentine ... Show more content on

As the campaign neared the election, Eva became the first candidate s wife in history to travel with her
husband. She stood by his side during his speeches and personally distributed campaign items,
greetings, and kisses. She even tried to speak in his absence when he was ill, but the crowd wanted no
parts of it. Peron won the election, and Eva soon began transforming into Evita ( The Official Eva
Peron Website ). After Peron s election, Eva took a job at the Central Post and Telecommunications
office. She acted as a liaison between the workers and the unions, fighting for workers rights. Her
relationships with the two groups granted her considerable sociopolitical power, and her social work
was beginning to form a solid foundation. And we began little by little. I couldn t tell you on what
exact day. I can tell you that at first I took care of everything myself. Then I had to ask for help.
Finally I had to organize the work which in just a few weeks had become extraordinary (Peron 134).
Eva began to labor for her people. Most noted for her work on the Foundacion de Eva Peron, she
raised money through various taxes and monetary donations from the people and businesses of
Argentina. She developed healthcare programs, hospitals, schools, and housing projects. One of the
housing projects was called

Analysis Of The Movie Beauty And The Beast
Twenty six years ago, children were mystified by the story of a bookworm girl and her journey that
found her true love. Beauty and the Beast captured the hearts of many and grew into a staple Disney
movie. It follows Belle a beautiful, but misunderstood young adult. After she found her way to a
fantastical castle, her world changed completely. The original movie caused many children and adults
to connect and find themselves within the characters. Consequently, they decided to make a live action
version of the film a quarter of a century later. Bill Condon, the director of the 2017 film, added
dimension to the characters by further explaining their backgrounds. Facts about Belle s mom and the
Beast s family brought new sides that the 1991 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the movie allows other lessons such as telling people that they should dare to be
different and that they should love to learn. Maurice, Belle s father, and Belle show that being
different should be celebrated by their new, fascinating inventions that they always make. Also, Belle
and Beast show that learning is important when they go through the library and discuss their favorite
books. However, some people may not believe that Beauty and the Beast gives out the best morals.
For some people, Gaston s actions may cause negative feelings for the movie. Gaston s actions are
unforgivable and narcissistic, but they are for a greater purpose. Having Gaston in the movie allows
for the Beast to have an antithesis. Beast is beautiful on the inside and hideous on the outside, yet
Gaston s elegant features are overshadowed by his unsightly heart. While Gaston is a bad character
and should not be a role model, he helps portray the incredible message that the finest beauty is from
someone s brain and heart. As well as having a teachable lesson, family films usually need to have a
wide range of subgenres. Family movies, as a whole, encompass a wide variety of movies. For
example, The Wizard of Oz is seen as a family movie, but it also falls into the adventure and fantasy
genres (Dirks). Beauty and the Beast is similar in the way that it also has two other genres it falls
under: musical and fantasy. From the start of the movie to

Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they
have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in
the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this
time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return.
Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo
had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine
covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family
with not as much money as Juliet s. There was also a social class where the Duke and Duchess held
the most power and the peasants had the least power. Juliet s family ... Show more content on

One of those instances is at the end of the play when Juliet uttered, ...drunk all, and left no friendly
drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make die with
a restorative. . By uttering this, it shows how she was wanting so badly to be with Romeo that she
would take her life to do so. If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would
never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part
about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision
making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. Today, everyone is able in a way to
relate to Romeo and Juliet at some point, by going through the process of being in love . Love is able
to make your decision making impaired, since what you do is to please the love you have and share

  • 2. The Development Of A Person Who Is A Beacon Of Hope For... In a world that is often immersed in darkness, I strive to be a beacon of hope for those who are mentally and physically suffering. As a person who views the world in an ecological standpoint, I believe the environment plays a significant role in the development of a person. My personal experience in struggling with the fallout of my parents divorce, living in unfavorable conditions, and providing consolation to my family members terrors of abuse has shaped me into a resilient and perceptive individual. When I was six, my mother filed for divorce due to domestic violence that resulted in my father leaving California. He refused to pay child support, bringing my family of five into poverty. Having had few resources for an extended period of time, I began to feel powerless and shameful for not being able to fix the situation. Thankfully, a family friend referred my mother to Laura s House, a non profit organization that helps people who suffer from domestic violence. The organization provided us with emotional support, adequate meals, financial and legal aid. Because of their selfless efforts we were able to have a sustainable life again. I continue to feel blessed for the organization s intervention and it showed me that social services impacts lives for the better. Presently, I have an optimistic outlook on life and I want to reciprocate my experience by contributing my efforts in helping others as a social worker and spread awareness that receiving assistance is not a ... • 4. An End Of History By Mario Savio I used to believe that we could be anything that we wanted to be, as long as we wanted it enough; that was around age 13. I still believe that we can be anything we want to be, with a few changes to that belief: it has to fit in to the status quo, be accepted by those around you, and provide you with enough money to live in what society perceives as a comfortable and successful lifestyle. Although a lot has changed since American political activist Mario Savio wrote the article An End to History in 1964, a great deal of change is required before students can become part of the system without having to disregard their creativity and passion. In his article, Savio explains that his vision of the proper role of the university or any such institution for that matter is one where the institution not only allows its students to speak freely about the causes that matter to them, namely political matters, but also allows students to mould themselves into the people they want to be, rather than the institution moulding them into the people society wants them to be. Savio explains that he believed the greatest problem in the United States during the 1960s (and arguably twenty first century) to be the depersonalized, unresponsive bureaucracy, that bleeds into the very institutions used to shape the future leaders of the country. He continues by stating that because of the bureaucracy which controlled these post secondary institutions, students were forced to give up the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Classism And Lack Of Personal Awareness Classism and Lack of Personal Awareness Will Persist Both Julian in Flannery O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge and Cassio in Shakespeare s Othello have been raised to act and to believe that they are exceptional among their peers. This ingrained belief that they are better than others presents itself in the way they think and speak to those around them, who they choose to associate with, and how their lack of personal awareness negates any good intentions they may have. Both Cassio and Julian s breeding are the root causes of each man s unique brand of classism. Cassio was born a Florentine and brought up to be a gentleman. In the days of Shakespeare it was essential that a gentleman possess the skills of flirtation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are numerous areas in both literary works where Julian and Cassio display blatant classism towards those around them. Cassio provides a fantastic example of classism when he says, The Lieutenant is to be saved before the Ancient. This is because of the belief that your positions in life were designated by God and therefore would be reflected in heaven as well. Cassio even exhibits anger and a determination to defend his honor when Roderigo corrects his manners. A knave teach me duty? I ll beat the knave into a twiggen bottle. Cassio considers it to be ridiculous and insulting to be corrected by Roderigo, a lesser class of man. While Shakespeare s Cassio displays unconcealed classism, Flannery O Connor s Julian is a more subdued example, as the majority of his classism is relegated to the judgements of others within his internal monologue. As his aggravation with his mother reaches its breaking point he verbalizes his classism by saying, You haven t the foggiest idea where you stand now or who you are. Believing he is superior to his mother, Julian feels entitled to speak condescendingly to her on more than one occasion. He withdraws into his mind which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Raising A Minimum Wage A 2015 CBS/New York Times survey found that 71 percent of Americans favored an increase to the minimum wage. (Doyle, pg 2). What if I tell you that raising a minimum wage is not a good idea for our society? Would you believe that increasing a minimum hourly rate might cause more harm than good in a long run? What if setting a high minimal wage will actually kill many jobs and increase unemployment? Did you think that this raising minimum wage games are the never ending loops, and are created to manipulate people, as they do not really improve or raise the quality of people s life? A lot of politicians, to be perceived as caring, concerned and compassionate, love to talk about raising a minimum wage. And immediately majority of poor people see the politicians as heroes who stood up to protect them from greedy employers. Now people perceive the issue with the minimum wage as a war between employees and employers. This is happening because not too many people know what raising a minimum wage actually means, what are the long and short time effects, who is going to be effected and how, what will happen to prices and standards of living, where the money will come from, what will happened to unemployment and inflation rate. People seem do not understand that everything comes with a cost. Whether to raising a minimum wage, is well argued question between businessmen s, economists, and politicians. Constitutions seek to build, enable and regulate institutions that cater the needs and rights of people ( What is a Constitution? ) They also have a key role in empowering states, providing government stability and legitimizing regimes (Heywood 338). Any attempt at an amendment or revision of our constitution entails a complex process of discourse and decision making. Amendments mean changing specific provisions in our Constitution without affecting its other parts. But, a revision implies a fundamental review to change the essence or totality of our Constitution ( How To Change A Constitution. ). Archeologists and Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about it or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is more than one author of the Pentateuch. They help peel a little off the mystery that the bible is surrounded by. The Nova website gives us an insurmountable amount of information about the archeology, history, and thoughts on the bible. Therefore without these sources, we would be in the dark on what was behind the bible and without that knowledge people would be more skeptical of the bible that has no background to as how it came to be in existence. If there was no history or sources behind it then we would have no idea why these authors felt compelled to write anything and what their culture was like that influenced it. Most importantly we would never be able to answer the question, who wrote the bible? Higher criticism are techniques of analysis to find out what circumstances surrounded the writing of the bible, how many versions there are, and plenty of other questions (Boadt 80). One of these criticisms is source criticism which is also called literary criticism. This deals with whether earlier to the written word we have if there were others before and how they were incorporated into the present text (Boadt 81). • 10. Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents lives was affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly African American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with adversity. Ricky as a character displayed the effects of understanding the traumatic human development and normal human development. Traumatic human development is when one is open to danger and violence. One can be open to traumatic development directly or indirectly on a centered foundation. Ricky environment exposed him negativity. A majority of the negativity that Ricky is exposed to is gun violence, gangs, drugs and other negativity as well. Due to his environment being looked down upon and him being an African American male from a certain area of Los Angeles town he was viewed upon negatively by society. For instance, a scene from the movie dictates Tre and Ricky is pulled over by cops. The cops, one African American the main cop posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to society. Being harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as though they had no place in of belonging in that part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an African American male it was difficult enough for him to be successful in his environment. Ricky was not as fortunate to have the resources he needed. He was limited to many resources but, his limitation did not interfere with him having normal development. The theories that can mainly be relative to this movie, as well as the character Ricky, are person in environment, systems theory, and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012). The first theory that can be associated with character Ricky is the person in environment theory. Person in environment theory had some effects on Ricky. Ricky s environment consisted of drugs, gangs, and even murders. His environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his motivation to escape. • 12. Overview of Free Trade Barriers Throughout history nations have utilized trade barriers such as tariffs and embargoes to regulate trade among other nations (Bartlett, 1998). The purpose of such trade barriers was to provide safeguards for a nation s imports and exports. The philosophy surrounding the use of trade barriers has changed from time to time with there being periods when they were used extensively and periods when they were abandoned entirely. Prior to the First World War international trade was flourishing and although tariffs were being used by a variety of nations they did little to discourage trade. During and after the War, however, trading barriers between nations put heavy burdens on international trade and by the time that the Great Depression struck world trade had reached a point of near stagnation (Madsen, 2001). The United States and Great Britain in the waning days of the Second World War recognized that a resumption of international trade was necessary in order to assist the war torn European economy. In an attempt to avoid the heavy trade barriers that were in operation prior to the War, the United States injected millions of dollars in aid in order to induce world trade. Such measures worked for a short period but a more permanent solution was necessary and there was a split of opinion on what the permanent solution should be. The attempts at reaching a solution became the source of considerable debate and as time progressed the situation became quite acrimonious. The concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Night riding of the Klan led to at least 50 people getting flogged during a two year period. Outcries of the populace of Georgia and the Carolinas brought arrests and convictions of the Klan. Therefore, the Klan was forced to retreat. The Klan endured other handicap when local Klan in the North chapters began to develop ties with American Nazis, which Southern Klansmen greatly opposed. But, the southern Klansmen was powerless to stop this coalition. The end of 1944 is when the IRS filed a lien against the Ku Klux Klan for back taxes of more than $685,000 on profits they earned in the 1920s. A new Klan leader managed to reorganize the Klan in California, Kentucky, New York and Tennessee, just to name a few. But, both federal and state bureaus of investigation prosecuted Klan mayhem and the new leadership discovered that the society was surrounded by enemies. Bond (2011) discloses how ministers were more inclined to attack the Klan, the press had become more hostile and state and local government passed laws against cross burnings and masks. Many members of the Klan went to jail for floggings or other crimes. By the early 1950s, the Ku Klux Klan was at its lowest level since its rebirth. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo and expected to arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family. The assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. The series of unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and the troubles that ensued because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I. Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bonzia and Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back their vehicle and injured a few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it to a safe place. Later in the day, Duke Franz Ferdinand went to visit the people injured. As they turned down the street not expecting anything, BANG, the royalty had been shot. The main pacts that were present before World War One were; Russia and Serbia, Japan and Britain, France and Russia, Germany and Austria Hungary, and Britain, France and Belgium. The US was neutral until the German navy attacked our civilian ships. So if anyone of the countries was attacked it would set off a chain reaction leading to total war. That is exactly what happened. • 20. Becoming A Knights Essay The knights were the third level of feudal society in Europe. Knights were usually vassals who paid protection and loyalty to their lords in return for land. They were warriors in armor who fought on horseback and had to have a good deal of wealth in order to afford a full suit of armor and a horse. Knights wore coats of armor made from metal links called mail and carried swords and shields. A knight s tactic when fighting in war was that he would charge at his enemies then spear them with his lance. During the time period of AD 700s to AD 1200s, the knights were the most powerful soldiers in Europe. Becoming a knight in Europe was a very tough task that started at a very young age. In this part of training, the young boy spent most of his time with the knight who was his lord instead of the ladies. With the knight, he polished the armor, sword, shield, and lance. The young boy also then helped care for the knight s horse and even waited on him at mealtime, carrying water for hand washing and filling his empty cup. Besides the fact of serving the knight who was his lord, the squire trained to become warriors. • 24. The Mandrill Primate And The Primate Writing Assignment: The Mandrill Primate For this assignment, I have decided to design an enclosure about the primate, Mandrill. I will, in words, describe an enclosure that will prevent these nonhuman primates from not being suited to their natural habitat needs. Throughout this assignment, I will design my very own version of a perfect enclosure that secures these primates by critically thinking of any psychological or physical problems that can occur. What also will need to partake is considering the perspective of the nonhuman primates, the zookeepers, and the visitors as well. Designing an enclosure has to be precise and detailed. I will do the best I can to be as detailed as I can be when designing this enclosure. First, to be able to design an enclosure, we must know a little about our species that will be in it. Well, the Mandrill is a type of primate of the Old World monkey family and are usually found in parts of South American, specifically Cameroon, Gabon, Guinea, and Congo (Wikipedia). The Mandrill is known for their colorful characteristics that vary in colors from blue to violet and also have a scarlet color alongside the bridge and end of their nose (Britannica). In my opinion, the mandrills are considered to be the most unique and interesting primates that I have seen and that are why I have decided to write about them. The mandrill is formerly grouped with the baboons. So, what happens to a nonhuman primate when the zoo enclosure does not suit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During Newton s time, many people didn t understand the concept of light, motion or gravity until Newton came around and discovered them. I know one question that I have is what would our world be like today if these important discoveries were not found? Sir Isaac Newton was simply a genius. He discovered many important aspects that are used in the modern world on a daily basis. He was very passionate about learning and his innovations changed the world. The first innovation that Newton brought to our world was the discovery of light. Newton said that white light is made up of many colors. He discovered this by setting up a prism near his window, and projecting a spectrum twenty two feet onto the far wall, to prove that the prism was not coloring the light, he refracted the light back together. The advantage of Newton s theory of light is that we know that light is made up of many colors. If he wouldn t have discovered this phenomena, we would still think that color was a mixture of light and darkness, which is what people thought before Newton s theory of light. Along with his light theory, Newton also discovered the lovely subject Calculus and he invented a telescope using a mirror rather than a lens, which was something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This act allowed physicians to prescribe to terminally ill patients a lethal dose of medication in order to hasten their death, even though euthanasia is prohibited in the United States. According to Katrina Hedberg, this act has been revised by Oregon legislature, but has still been brought to attention of the United States Supreme Court on raised questions of legality. In order to receive a prescription for the Death with Dignity Act, the patient must reside in Oregon, be a terminally ill adult, and should be expected to die within a six month time frame. Along with these requirements, patients must be able to make their own healthcare decisions. Katrina Hedberg found that over the course of ten years, physicians had written 546 prescriptions and a total of 341 Oregon residents passed away after the lethal dose under this act. The medications that were prescribed during this time were secobarbital and pentobarbital, and most patients would pass away within an hour of taking pentobarbital. Many physicians have reported that patients who requested these prescriptions often had a loss of autonomy and a decrease in their ability to engage in activities that they enjoyed. The results showed that these factors had increased over the course of ten years. According to physicians, patient s concerns of pain had also increased during this time. For example, the first time I came into your classroom, I expected you to be like the majority of coaches, dull and non exciting. For this reason, I think that first impressions of people can be right, but most of the time one really does not know a person until they have talked and bonded with them for a while. In my opinion, I think that people can easily be misjudged because of their physical features, such as the way the look or how the dress, the people they hang out with, or that person may just be having a bad day. This unprecedented rate of advancement also brought in some less desirable consequences, such as political corruption and harsh working conditions. This, in turn, ushered in the Progressive Era, as the country was swept into a new direction by reformers, who pushed for the removal of corrupt elements that took advantage of the failure of ... Thomas Nast, considered to be the Father of the American Cartoon , was one of the key people in bringing down the Tweed Ring through cartoons published in Harper s Weekly, such as Wholesale and Retail Thievery , and Who Stole the People s Money? Do Tell . Tweed even reportedly said, Stop them damned pictures. I don t care so much what the papers say about me. My constituents don t know how to read, but they can t help seeing them damned pictures! Nast s cartoons were significant, because if he did not publish them, a majority of New York would not have discovered the political corruption until much later, and, in the meantime, would have been blissfully unaware of any impairment in the growth of New York. In addition to Nast s work, disgruntled officials also released financial records that implicated Tweed and his associates with an estimated $25 million to $200 million in stolen funding to the New York Times, sealing Tweed s fate when he was convicted and jailed in 1873. Nast s influence also prompted other journalists to take a closer look at their own cities and ensured that the weaknesses of growing cities would not be exploited without the public s knowledge. • 41. Negative Effects Of Solar Eclipses With the impending solar eclipse set to darken the skies briefly on Monday afternoon, physicians across the country are preparing to treat cases of optical damage caused by glaring at the dark sun. Unfortunately, many people believe that because the sun is blocked, it blocks the harmful ultraviolet rays from reaching one s eyes, but that is not the case. Assistant professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Tamara S. Oechslin, explains it is never safe to stare directly into the sun, and that includes during the eclipse (Janarthanan). But, these eclipses have been occurring for thousands of years. In fact, the ancient Chinese believed that solar eclipses were dragons devouring the sun (NASA). Obviously, the general population has come to a much stronger understanding of what a solar eclipse entails, but they do not necessarily follow guidance related to viewing the eclipse. In 1999, a solar eclipse occurred and several thousand people rang helplines or attended special eclipse clinics (Dobson). However, the number of cases of solar retinopathy than was widely feared (Dobson). Solar retinopathy is the damage caused by someone looking at the sun with improper or no eye protection. The retina, the home of light sensing cells, is then damaged by the harmful rays of the sun. Treatment to try and heal the effects of solar retinopathy has proven ineffective (Dobson). • 42. Maltese Falcon Character Analysis Do you ever wonder what makes an intriguing classic novel? Many books appear to fall into the classic category, but few books really turn out to be classics. This topic can go many ways, arguing what really makes a classic, but there is a basic criteria that classics must meet. The book that I analyzed was The Maltese Falcon. This book should not be considered a classic because it does not give the reader a different perspective, there is not a big moral to the story, and because it is not related to real issues. The Maltese Falcon should not be considered a classic because it does not give the reader a different perspective. True classics leave the reader with a different mindset, and The Maltese Falcon fails to do that. For example in the classic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, you have a different view point at the end of the book. The book gives you a different perspective about the characters and about the obscure door. In the beginning of the book you are unsure about the mysterious door, but in the end you realize that the door has meaning. This simple object leaves you with a different perspective about it. The Maltese Falcon also has a simple object, the falcon itself. The falcon is a main focal point that the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society books about sports, school, drama, or romance would be more appealing books to audiences. The Maltese Falcon is also not a book that stands the test of time. His father was a Scottish Presbyterian serving the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, and his mother had connections with both French Huguenots and German Lutherans. This background to some extent explains his ecumenical spirit. He was educated at Aberdeen University, Scotland, and at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After ordination in 1848 he served pastorates at Bloemfontein, Worcester, Cape Town, and Wellington. He helped to found what is now the University College of the Orange Free State and the Stellenbosch Seminary He served as Moderator of the Cape Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church and was president of both the YMCA (1865) and the South Africa General Mission (1888 1917), ... I joke that he is a dead mentor to me, because when I read his writings there is a longing in me to imitate his faith, his passion for God, his conviction about being holy, his understanding about the grace of God. I admire just how plainly and affectionately he wrote about heavenly things as though he truly understood them. I just sit amazed at what God revealed to him and wonder if I will ever truly know without a shadow of a doubt the things he speaks about. His writings are not just fluff, but are the meat and potatoes of Christianity. If you read them you will not be disappointed, but you will be challenged and inspired to believe you really can be godly through Jesus Christ. This is one of my favorite books, perhaps because it provoked such thoughts of what true surrender is in the life of the Christian. Should you ever find yourself driven to know the truth about the surrendered life, select this book and encounter the concepts within. I would recommend this book to current believers who wish to take their relationship with the Lord to the next level. • 47. Historical Context Of Le Corbusier When considering the cultural and social aspects of a building, one must study the historical context of its construction. In the 1920 s, European architecture was beginning to integrate traditional elements with the new social demands for modern technology. Although many architects and engineers were involved, Le Corbusier was the French architect who people today believe led this architectural revolution in Europe. Few are aware of the fact that Pierre Chareau also played a significant role in this modernist movement. Originally a furniture designer, the Maison de Verre was his first full scale architectural project. As you walk through the typical Parisian entrance door of 31 Rue Saint Guillaume in the stylish sixth arrondissement of Paris, you find yourself standing in front of a large glass box. Although one could argue that the Maison de Verre is an interruption in the continuity of the Haussmannian buildings of the neighbourhood, it is still hidden away and shielded from the public eye. It may look like the odd one out, but it reflects the personality of Chareau himself as many architects today consider him as an outsider . It must be remembered that the Maison de Verre, although an overall individual achievement in the eyes of modern architecture, was a collaboration between Pierre Chareau and Bernard Bijvoet, a contemporary Dutch architect who kept a low and modest profile in relation to the buildings he contributed to. In addition, the skilled metalworker and craftsman Louis Dalbet contributed to the fabrication of the mechanical toys. Although it received initial criticism for its controversial nature, the Maison de Verre is a unique and significant contribution to 20th century architecture. However, some people may not believe that Beauty and the Beast gives out the best morals. For some people, Gaston s actions may cause negative feelings for the movie. Gaston s actions are unforgivable and narcissistic, but they are for a greater purpose. Having Gaston in the movie allows for the Beast to have an antithesis. Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return. Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family with not as much money as Juliet s.
