EVALUATION Q5
How did you attract/address your
audience?
Audience Feedback
To receive some feedback from our target audience
about our opening sequel, we selected a range of
people in our class to carry out a short survey.
When planning our target audience, we decided to
direct the film to mainly teenagers and young
people. The audience we received feedback from
ranged from ages 16-17 which gave us
appropriate and informative responses as they
met our criteria.
Reaching our Target Audience
How did we make our opening sequel suitable for teenagers?
• We used a range of colloquial slang words like “selfie” and
“spin the bottle” to initially attract an audience of a younger
generation’s attention. Uses of modern language were
obligatory to include in our opening sequel as we wanted to
fully relate to our target audience by using language they are
accustomed to hearing.
• All four characters were dressed in a modern fashion which
relates to the present-day time era; making it familiar to the
target audience.
• Finally, the most significant factor which made the opening
sequel instantly more related to a target audience of
teenagers was the idea of all the characters being a similar
age to the target audience. Carter, Elias and Bree were all 16-
17 and students. In our audience feedback, the selection of
people were all 16-17 and students also.
My name is Sophie
and I am 17 years
old
The similar age between Sophie and
the characters in the film could make
her enjoy it more as she relates to
them.
My favourite genre
of film is horror
Horror films are popular for teenagers
as they could possibly enjoy the
adrenaline rush and thrill more than
an older person.
I watch around 3-4
films a week
Because Theo watches many films a
week, he has the opportunity to
experiment and explore deeper into
sub-genres of film. For example, our
film is a supernatural horror which is
more specific.
I liked the editing
used and the
storyline
This positive feedback means the
storyline, the way the opening sequel
was filmed and edited etc was directed
towards the appropriate target
audience of teenagers.
Pros and Cons
Pros and cons of our opening sequel according
to our audience feedback
Pros Cons
“Editing was nice” “Some improvements could
be made”
“Mainly all-round good” “The setting could be
improved to make it more
frightening”
“I really enjoyed it – it was
very good.”
“Good quality camera”
“It matched your chosen
genre”
“I would want to watch the
remaining film just from
seeing the opening sequence”
