What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
Target Audience
Our target audience consists of male and female
teenagers, and to focus on a more niche
audience, from an area around the filming
location (Notton and the South Yorkshire area.)
Which is a specific Geographical origin and
possibly socio economic class.
Our film appeals to our target audience because
it is set in South Yorkshire and features
teenagers from this local area, we did this on
purpose to interest our target audience. Our
target audience would typically be teenagers
from 12 – 16 mainly and would probably attend
college themselves and would stereotypically be
lazy, and would go to the cinema to watch films
as well as through company websites such as
Netflix and Love Film rather than typical DVD’s
Pre-production research
 Before filming, we conducted pre production research such as
facebook promotions of our questionnaire that people answered for
us and told us what they wanted from our film, within our target
audience, they told us that they wanted our film to be in an isolated
setting with dramatic music, peaks and that they suspected that our
film was of the horror genre without us having telling them this.
 We had many replies and they where mostly positive, and most would
watch our film based on a brief description, even more would watch
our film within our target audience range (12 – 16)
 This was good because we specifically marketed our film towards a
specific group and age range based on research telling us that our
film was most likely to be viewed by these teenage individuals.
 It shows that our film did not
apply to everyone, (shown
with red circle) however it
did to the majority people

our audience as most of our friends on
Facebook are our own age – our target
