Our target audience for the media product is male and female teenagers aged 12-16 from the Notton and South Yorkshire area of the UK. We aimed to appeal to this niche demographic because the film is set locally and features teenage characters. Research found that teenagers typically watch films through streaming services like Netflix rather than DVDs. Pre-production research via a Facebook questionnaire received positive feedback from our target audience, who wanted an isolated, dramatic setting and guessed the film was a horror. Most respondents said they would watch the film based on a brief description. The research confirmed that targeting 12-16 year olds locally was likely to result in higher viewership.
