Who wold be the audience for your media product
Target audience…
My targetaudience wouldbe the youngadultaudience aged15-25.
Why I chose this target audience…
I deliberatelychose thistargetaudience asIam able to relate/connectwiththisaudience verywell.
Thisis notonlybecause Iam of a similarage to my targetage groupsbut because Iwatch/enjoy
filmsthatare targetedtothistype of age groups,moreoverthisenablesme tocreate a filmwhereby
it meetsthe demandof mytargetaudiences. Additionallythisage groupisone inwhichfitsthe
genre of my mediafilmverywell.

The typical agefor someone who desires to watch a horror filmis that of 15-25.This is
perhaps becauseyoung people can relate to the horror genre more than the older
audience. This does not prevent the older generation to be interested in horror films
but the general target audience for a horror filmis thatof a person between the ages of
15-25. Stereotypically the horror genre is attracted by the ‘male’ gender rather than the
‘female’ gender. This is becausemales tend to be more interested in violence and a
thriller whereas the females would rather go and watch a rom-com. This again does not
illuminatethe factthat there a vastamount of females who are interested in horror will
in fact go and see the filmopening. As a resultthe avatar for my target audiencewill be
a combination of young adults which range in ages 15-25.
Typical traits of the horror genre audience are as follows…
 Enjoys the idea of fear and suspense
 Enjoys the element of horror
 Likes to take risks
 Thrill seeking
Interests the audience will have…
 Enjoys watchingfilms with groups of people
 Enjoys the element of danger and risk
 Likes to watch unique films.
 Enjoys meeting up with friends.

 A typical audiencemember might spend their time catchingup with the latest
horror films.

 Enjoy have lazy days.

 Other films could includethatof a similar genre.
 TV programs with similarnarrative.
 Media with dark themes.

 My filmis a new, uniqueand excitingfilmwhich meets the requirements of my
social groups.
 It targets a largerange of topics which arerelatableto my audience (teenage
breakups,parties,and forest encounters).

Due to the fact thatmy target audience isthatof the more mature age group (16-25) I wantedto
incorporate designelementswhichare interestingandengaging.Byusingsmoke andchangingthe
eye colourof my actors I have insuredthatthe filmbecomesandnotonlymore interestingbut
insuresIengage the audience furtherasitcapturespeople’sattention(asshownbelow inthe
feedbackfrommytargetaudience).
Usingreal life mediaproducts as inspirationto insure that I attracted my audience inthe bestway
possible….
Whencastingmy actors I lookedforyoung,attractive actorsto insure thatthe audience wouldbe
able to relate tomy mediafilm.Iadditionallyposed‘Jo’inareddressinspired bythe film‘Red
RidingHood’.Ididthis as the audience wouldbe able toeasilyrecognisethe motive behindthe
costume andbe able tointeractwiththe filmfurther.Ialsodidthisas ‘RedRidingHood’was a great
successand I hopedthatthiswouldbe reflectedwithinmyfilm.

explaininghowitwaschosenwell and portrayedmygenre effetely.Thiswasreallypositive feedback
as it showedme thatI had effectivelytargetedmyaudience.Positivefeedbackadditionally
commentedonmylevelsof soundandsuggestedIeveneditout.Moreoverthiswill make sure next
time I payfurtherattentiontothat of sound- insuringhighvideoquality.

  • 1. Question 4 and 5… Part 1 (Question4) Who wold be the audience for your media product Target audience… My targetaudience wouldbe the youngadultaudience aged15-25. Why I chose this target audience… I deliberatelychose thistargetaudience asIam able to relate/connectwiththisaudience verywell. Thisis notonlybecause Iam of a similarage to my targetage groupsbut because Iwatch/enjoy filmsthatare targetedtothistype of age groups,moreoverthisenablesme tocreate a filmwhereby it meetsthe demandof mytargetaudiences. Additionallythisage groupisone inwhichfitsthe genre of my mediafilmverywell. The fact that both actors are ‘attractive’andof a similarage to mychosen social groupsinsuresthatthe audience caninteracted/relate tomymedia film.

Avatar of audience… The typical agefor someone who desires to watch a horror filmis that of 15-25.This is perhaps becauseyoung people can relate to the horror genre more than the older audience. This does not prevent the older generation to be interested in horror films but the general target audience for a horror filmis thatof a person between the ages of 15-25. Stereotypically the horror genre is attracted by the ‘male’ gender rather than the ‘female’ gender. This is becausemales tend to be more interested in violence and a thriller whereas the females would rather go and watch a rom-com. This again does not illuminatethe factthat there a vastamount of females who are interested in horror will in fact go and see the filmopening. As a resultthe avatar for my target audiencewill be a combination of young adults which range in ages 15-25. Typical traits of the horror genre audience are as follows…  Enjoys the idea of fear and suspense  Enjoys the element of horror  Likes to take risks  Thrill seeking Interests the audience will have…  Enjoys watchingfilms with groups of people  Enjoys the element of danger and risk  Likes to watch unique films.  Enjoys meeting up with friends. How do they spend their time?  A typical audiencemember might spend their time catchingup with the latest horror films.  Spend time with friends  Enjoy have lazy days. What other media products do they consume?  Other films could includethatof a similar genre.  TV programs with similarnarrative.  Media with dark themes. Why would my social groups (target audience want to watch my film?  My filmis a new, uniqueand excitingfilmwhich meets the requirements of my social groups.  It targets a largerange of topics which arerelatableto my audience (teenage breakups,parties,and forest encounters). These imagesare examplesof my targetaudience (ranging frommales,females,groups and couples).

How various designelementsIhave incorporated are intendedtoappeal to my target audience… Due to the fact thatmy target audience isthatof the more mature age group (16-25) I wantedto incorporate designelementswhichare interestingandengaging.Byusingsmoke andchangingthe eye colourof my actors I have insuredthatthe filmbecomesandnotonlymore interestingbut insuresIengage the audience furtherasitcapturespeople’sattention(asshownbelow inthe feedbackfrommytargetaudience). Usingreal life mediaproducts as inspirationto insure that I attracted my audience inthe bestway possible…. Whencastingmy actors I lookedforyoung,attractive actorsto insure thatthe audience wouldbe able to relate tomy mediafilm.Iadditionallyposed‘Jo’inareddressinspired bythe film‘Red RidingHood’.Ididthis as the audience wouldbe able toeasilyrecognisethe motive behindthe costume andbe able tointeractwiththe filmfurther.Ialsodidthisas ‘RedRidingHood’was a great successand I hopedthatthiswouldbe reflectedwithinmyfilm. How the sound of my filmattracted/ engagedmy audience… I deliberatelychose musicthatwaseasilyrelatabletomytargetaudience.Thismusicinthe beginningof myfilmopeningissomething thatconnotesthe moodof myfilmwhichinsure audience engagement.Thismusicisalsoverypopularwithinmytargetaudience moreoverinsurethatmy target audience isfurtherengaged.Ichose thismusicdeliberately asitmeetsthe demandof my target audience whilststill insurethe mood/atmosphere of myfilm. The majorityof my audience enjoyedmyfilmcommonlyempathizingtheirlove forthe choice of musicand special effects.Thiswascommentedfromafemale audience aged16-18 (meetingmy target audience).There were additionallymanycommentsregardingmychoice of location explaininghowitwaschosenwell and portrayedmygenre effetely.Thiswasreallypositive feedback as it showedme thatI had effectivelytargetedmyaudience.Positivefeedbackadditionally commentedonmylevelsof soundandsuggestedIeveneditout.Moreoverthiswill make sure next time I payfurtherattentiontothat of sound- insuringhighvideoquality. Alsothoughtthe voiceoverworkedwell withthe genre. ‘ Christoph aged 16: ‘Reallylikedit.’ Above are a range of commentsfrommy targetaudience.Onbalance bothfemale andmale audienceshopedthe filmandlikedverysimilarelementstothe film.The factthatChristophaged 16, statedthat he enjoyed myfilmshowsthatIhave effectivelytargetedmyaudience andmettheir needs.Thisadditionallygivesme greatconfidence thatmyfilmwillbe acceptedbythe larger audience when/if itwere tobe released.Bothgendersalsocommentedonthe filmsabilitytomy abilitytobe a professional outcome.ThisalsoshowsthatIeffetelycreatedafilmwhichmetthe requirementsof mytargetaudience.
