MAJOR CHARACTERS
•ISAAC
•HARRIET
•LUKE
Isaac
• Age of character: 17
• Character’s occupation: Student at college
• Character’s appearance: Male, short light hair, defined jaw
and cheekbones. Medium-sized brown eyes. Modern casual
outfit to show time of the era.
• Character’s personality: Is quite a naïve character in the
film. He likes to impress and present the best version of
himself to people. Although he is a likeable character, he
finds it hard to have relationships with girls so when he
finds a note from Harriet in his bag, he goes home and
practices how he will act. He is kind and caring but
sometimes his naivety and actions are comedic.
• What is character’s role? Isaac’s role in the film is to
represent the comedy aspect of our genre. Being the main
character in the film, he allows the plot to work as his
pursuit of love comes to an awkward end.
Harriet
• Age of character: 17
• Character’s occupation: Student at college
• Character’s appearance: Female, long brown hair, large-
sized brown eyes. Modern casual outfit to show fashion
of the era. Wears makeup of the era.
• Character’s personality: Confident, eager to meet new
people, happy, kind character but always gets herself into
awkward situations.
• What is character’s role? Harriet’s role in the film is to
play the plot device in the short film as she is the person
that places the note in the bag; allowing the plot to
work. At the end of the film she has to uncomfortably tell
Isaac the note was meant for his best friend. The
awkward part for her is that Luke is actually gay – which
means neither of the two characters get what they
desire. (Opposing typical conventions of romcom)
Luke
• Age of character: 17
• Character’s occupation: Student at college
• Character’s appearance: Male, medium height,
slender, short dark hair, brown eyes. Modern
casual outfit to show fashion of the era.
• Character’s personality: Similar to Isaac, funny, a
good friend and caring (however these
characteristics aren’t overly prominent in the film).
• What is character’s role? Luke’s role in the film is
to represent the awkwardness of the ending when
the note is actually intending for him and not his
best friend. He is also gay in the film which adds to
the awkward plot twist at the end when Isaac
realises the notes weren’t for him.
MINOR CHARACTERS
•MRS SCOTT
•STUDENTS IN CINEMA
•SOPHIE ISAAC’S SISTER
MINOR CHARACTERS
• MRS SCOTT – Is the teacher in the beginning scene. Although her face is
not on screen, she brings the romantic aspects to the film by informing
Isaac he is a ‘supposed’
• STUDENTS IN CINEMA – The students help to set the scene and build up
the idea of a cinema being the popular place for teenagers to go on dates.
They add to the comedy aspect by kissing in couples.
• SOPHIE THE SISTER – She is included to add comedic elements to the film,
by making Isaac feel awkward and laughing at his suit jacket which he
prepares for his date. Even though he is excited to wear it, she humorously
says “No Isaac”.
