Who would be the audience for your media mohamed
1. Who would be the
audience for your
media product?
Mohamed 12H
2. • My group have chosen to target the 16-25 age group, reasons
for this is because we are within this demographic. So we
believed it would be easy to deliver something that would
come to be popular to that specific age group. We made our
film consist of two main characters who also fit into the age
group, this was done so some audience members can relate to
them much easier.
3. • My group put a lot of research into how people with in the 16-
25 age group use the cinema. Research showed that majority
would rather watch it online and stream it instead of paying to
go see it. However cinema offers such as orange Wednesday is
used a lot by this age group so releasing the film on a
Wednesday would be in the best interest finically and also
attract the most customers. This age group consist of student
who most likely do not want to spend a penny if they don’t
need to so making money would be really hard for the film.
4. • Instead of spending a large amount of money on advertising
posters TV adverts and billboards. We have decided to only
put posters on bus stops where students would be taking the
bus to school college or university and the rest all online. This
is because the internet is used a lot by this age group so we
should take advantage of this fact as we could make
advertising for free online reaching a larger audience. Things
such as creating a Facebook and Twitter page to interact with
the fans and give them trailers and competitions to win. We
also thought to only release an advert on YouTube and not on
TV as we believe it would be seen by more people.
5. • My group also went around with a survey asking if the film
appeals to them. The survey was done by 16 year olds all the
way up to the teachers 40+. Surveys showed that all the
students between 16-18 loved the concept of the film an
found it funny and defiantly watchable in the cinema.
However as the older the age got the less the film appealed to
them an the less they found it funny. This in a sense was a
good result of the survey as the age we targeted loved it
however we should of have made the film appeal abit to a
higher age group in order to make our fan base bigger. On the
other hand if we was to try target a young and old age group
the film might of not come out as good as it could be.
6. • I used a limited number of characters. The reason I used
this convention was to make it easier for the audience to
familiarise themselves with the characters. This is used in
all films for example inbetweeners movie has four
different characters .For my film there are also two main
characters, myself and Paulo. Although this is a limited
number of characters, each one of them has their own
unique traits/personalities. This is so the audience have a
wider range of characters to relate to. I have tried to
make the characters likeable for my target audience by
telling myself and Paulo to act as if they was trying to
make his friends laugh as they fit the demographic. This
then made it easier for us to deliver the comedy aspect
of the film.
