Question 4

Evaluation – Who would be the audience for your media product?

By Elliot Metaireau
1st Interview – Luca Metaireau

For the fourth question of my evaluation, I interviewed two teenagers who as a result seemed to
enjoy the thriller genre and what it’s like in today’s society. However I was unable to interview adults
of older teenagers as our movie genre is not only targeted at youths/teenagers. The first interview
was filmed with 14 year old brother Luca Metaireau, who seems to take an interest with more or less
the comedy genre but occasionally watches thriller or action packed things.
2nd Interview – Tim Girling

During the making of the evaluation, I decided to give out two interviews so that it can benefit me
better as a whole while also getting a lot of feedback about our film considering it relates to the
thriller genre. The second person whom got interviewed was 15 year old teenager Tim Girling, during
this interview, Tim preferred the action and or thriller route whereas Luca had more of an
understanding for comedy, so it was better to gain information from Tim as a whole.
Summary as a whole

As a whole, our group were trying to find the perfect demographic group whom are
seeking to be a primary target audience for the film. After interviewing both teenagers,
it’s clear to say that they are seen as a potential target audience as they had several
points to mention about the thriller genre or relations to it. However Luca was
explaining that it would more or less suit adults just as well because thriller hasn’t
changed over the past 40 years or so whereas comedy has, so it makes sense for
teenagers to be caught up with modern comedy in contrast to adults. After the fourth
question being asked about age restrictions, the audience feedback shows that we have
slightly produced something attracting that target market because both of them
explained how violence was a thing occurring within that genre, so the killing at the
beginning of the film worked well with that.

As for the secondary audience, kids could fallout in that sector after teenagers and
adults, however the age restrictions will most probably be between 10 and 12 years of
age only because they will generally enjoy it a whole lot more, it’s also a lot more
suitable for them then even younger people. One thing to mention and hence why
explains that they are not the primary target audience is that they might find it more
difficult to understand the storyline or what’s generally going on throughout the movie.
Maybe one way to reach their criteria is by having a very stereotypical storyline (one
that’s not hard to understand) and to perhaps add in more editing and less camera
                                      shots or angles.
