Chinese Immigration Essay example
In many aspects, the motivations for the Chinese to come to the United States were similar to those of
most immigrants. Some came to The Gold Mountain, and others came to the United States to seek
better economic opportunity. Yet there were others that were compelled to leave China either as
contract laborers or refugees. The Chinese brought with them their language, culture, social
institutions, and customs. Over time they made lasting contributions to their adopted country and
became a vital part of the United States population (Immigration Station).
Upon hearing the word of gold in California, thousands of Chinese, mostly young male peasants, left
their villages in the rural countries to become rich in the American West. Few actually ... Show more

Others such as peasants and workers were not allowed to enter due to the Chinese Exclusion Act of
1882. This Act set a precedent by being the first law to ban a specific group from the country. It
included many rules and regulations, including a ban on Chinese laborers entering the country, and
punishment for anyone who tried to sneak or transport Chinese into the country. It was impossible to
absolutely prevent Chinese immigration from occurring, but America tried its best to limit the number
that entered. The shared opinion of many in the United States during this time felt that the Chinese
were inferior, for they did not realize the bigger picture and the actual effect that Chinese would have
on the United States. The American and the Chinese governments agreed that the immigrants were
endangering the government and economy of China. This led them to limit, regulate, or suspend the
residency of Chinese in the United States (Archives 2). The only people they could not keep out were
the Chinese who already had family in the United States.
Many believed the reason the American government decided to adopt this act in the first place, was
due to hatred towards Chinese. Governor Greg Bilger of California wrote,Ò€?We donÒ€ℒt like these
contract Ò€œcoolieÒ€? laborers, avaricious, ignorant of moral obligations, incapable of being
assimilated, and dangerous to the public welfare living in the same area as usÒ€? (Norton 3). He used

Split Of Korea Essay
The Split of Korea
In 1950, South Korea developed its economy and was greatly influenced by the United States of
America. While North Korea followed the path of communism, South Korea discovered a better path
of developing their nation and becoming more unified as a family. The surrender of Japan to the allies
at the end of World War II was the catalyst in the split of Korea. North Korea then attempted to
conquer the Korean peninsula by force (Armstrong). South Korea focused on intensifying their
nationalism such as developing their own culture and the unity of factions. Additionally, South Korea
focused on improving the efficiency of its government system as it selected a new designated leader

Simultaneous Vs Sequentials
In the piece of literature we had this week, Eternal Quest for the Best: Sequential (vs. Simultaneous)
Option Presentation Undermines Choice Commitment we found a different points in the decision
making process. It takes the view of how we can look at our choices, and how that affects our
satisfaction in the long run. Simultaneous gives your choices all at once, and you have your pick,
while sequential gives them one at a time. When given options sequentially you saw a trend that
people were less satisfied with what they had chosen. The participants in the experiment were found to
be hopeful for a better option when they were given sequentially. In most results of the experiment we
found people were left unsatisfied in their choices due to

LAB 11: Performing a Web Site and Database Attack by Exploiting Identified Vulnerabilities
1. Why is it critical to perform a penetration test on a Web application and a Web server prior to
production implementation?
Essentially, performing a penetration test on a web application or web server, prior to implementation,
is critical to exposing and/or correcting any existing security flaws. In fact, such penetration testing is
critical to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of a given web application or
service. Also, penetration testing should be performed on a regular basis, or whenever a given web
application or service is modified, in order to detect any possible security vulnerabilities and/or flaws.
2. What is a cross site scripting attack? Explain in your own words.
Simply put, cross site scripting refers to the malicious injection of scripting code, into a given web
server or application, in order to exploit or extract information and/or data, or even modify the
contents of the targeted web server or application. Regarding cross site scripting, cross site scripting
attacks utilize the process of cross site scripting, and may be classified into two categories: persistent,
or stored, and non persistent, or reflective.
3. What is a reflective cross site scripting attack?

For example, an organization s security policy should dictate that no production of any given web
application, residing either inside or outside of a firewall, should be implemented without extensive,

along with various security procedures, regularly scheduled monitoring, penetration testing, and
observance may aid in ensuring an organization incorporates proper web application testing

Hillary Clinton Biography
Hillary Clinton, born as Hillary Diane Rodham, was born on October 26, 1947. She was raised in the
suburb of Chicago, Illinois. When Hillary turned three years old, her parents moved to Park Ridge.
She is the oldest daughter of Dorothy and Hugh Rodham. Hillary was a very young educated scholar.
She had dreams of becoming an astronaut. Hillary s dream took a turn when she was rejected due to
her gender as a female. That is when Hillary decided, she needed a voice. Her educational career path
after high school begin at Wellesley College where she graduated in 1969. She continued her
schooling at Yale Law School where she earned her doctor of law degree and graduated in 1973.

In 2016, Clinton became the first woman presidential nominee. Although many issues have developed,
she has never stood down. It was rumored that she experienced cases of the Benghazi Flu, and she was
also hospitalized for blood clots from prolonged concussions. Those incidents occurred but they still
did not break her. Hillary says that she wants to be the female hero for our country and I believe she
will be just that. She aims her focus toward educating children, lowering student debt, reforming the
justice system, and letting women be able to have a voice. Hillary Clinton portrays herself as a lady.
When the opposing team tries to criticize her, it does not get under her skin and that impresses me.
That shows me that she does not fold under pressure. For example, during the debate, the only card
that Donald Trump could pull were about her emails. She politely smiled, omitted the issue, and
continued to discuss ways that she would better our country. Hillary Clinton is a strong, mature, well
spoken, educated, and disciplined individual. She is also a perfect example of what should be the
voice and the show face for our country. That is why she is the candidate of my

Effects Of Reoccurring Physical Contact On Bacterial Growth
Effects of Reoccurring Physical Contact on Bacterial Growth in Human and Indoor Environments
Erick Dominguez

Wednesday 5:32p.m.
Abstract: The knowledge of the existence of bacteria can be traced back ages, however their existence
can be traced to the very start of planet Earth. The project focused on surfaces with constant physical
human interaction and the growth of bacterial colonies in indoor environments. The process centered
on the use of Aseptic technique to collect samples of bacterial colonies on the locations we
hypothesized contained the highest number of bacterial colonies. Three trials of each were conducted
and a control group was used in which it was sterile water. The results proved our hypothesis ... Show

Not only do these pose a threat of illness but identification of the pathogen would prove timely and
pose a serious threat to the public.
Therefore, it is vital to research the number of bacterial colonies located in common everyday surface
faced with constant human contact. We hypothesize that the door handle will house more bacterial
colonies than the those of the elevator door due to the constant physical interaction with the door
handle through various means. The independent factor is this experiment is the selection of the
location and the dependent factor is the number of bacteria colonies.
Materials and Methods
Four different bacterial species were incubated in prepared in nutrient rich media Tryptic Soy Agar
(TSA) plates. While preforming Aseptic technique we will use 1 capped test tube of sterilized water
and sterile cotton swabs to extract Bacteria from the surfaces. A sterile cotton swab was dipped into
the sterile water solution and carefully swabbed onto the TSA plate in a Z motion, to place the bacteria
onto the plate. Foremost the cotton swab was dipped into the sterile water test tube and Z streaked on
a TSA plate, this was the control of the experiment and to determine if contaminates were already
located in the test tube. Afterwards the same procedure was repeated in different sources to obtain
three trials of each location for a total of two different locations followed by the control. The bacteria
were incubated by the TA at 37 ˚C for 2 3

Identity, Societal Norms and the American Dream Sylvia Plath and Truman Capote throughout their
work both create unique individuals with internal and external forces holding them back. In The Bell
Jar, we are introduced to Ester who is a young and attractive women in college with a successful path
in life but is held back by madness and depression. In Breakfast at Tiffany s, we are introduced to a
unique character who makes up most of the story. We are introduced to Holiday Golightly but is
refereed to as Holly throughout the story, Holly is the main character of the story and the narrator
writes about her life. Holly makes a living as a companion to many wealthy and important men, who
lavish her with money and expensive beautiful gifts. The narrator meets Holly when she leaves her
husband and moves to New York, throughout her life and the story Holly is extremely unstable and
irresponsible. In both, The Bell Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany s, societal norms and the american dream
are major themes that help the readers understand the characters lives and behaviors. Both The Bell
Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany s, are stories that take place during the 1940s and 1950s where the role of
women was restricted in America. During this time, there were expectations placed on women by
society. In both stories we see the female characters being torn between doing what they desire or
following the stereotype and expectations

The Strange Situation Procedure ( Reference )
The Strange Situation Procedure (reference), shortened to Strange Situation in this evaluation, is a
procedure used to study attachment in children. This procedure was developed in (year) by Mary
Ainsworth. This essay will seek to give a basic background as to why Mary Ainsworth developed the
procedure, how it was developed, and evaluate its advantages and disadvantages. It will discuss why
the procedure is used today, the historical significance of its use in understanding attachment, and
furthermore the shortcomings psychologists face when using the procedure as a means of
understanding attachment.
Mary Ainsworth conducted a number of observational studies over the course of two years whist
living in Uganda with her husband. (reference) When Mary Ainsworth realised that observational
study alone may not be enough to convince the academic community of the validity of her work in
Uganda, Ainsworth developed the Strange Situation Procedure (Audio reference). The Strange
Situation Procedure involves seven episodes of a parent leaving an unfamiliar room, a stranger
entering with the mother of the child leaving the room, the stranger attempting to interact with the
child, and ultimately the mother retuning to the child. (reference) The reaction of the child upon the
return of the primary caregiver is the dependent variable that Ainsworth focused her studies on. The
response of the child is then categorised into four attachment categories , stable anxious resistant ,

Notes On Productivity And Performance Management
Introduction
In Unit 3 you will review Chapter 6 Productivity and Performance Management, and Chapter 7
Operational Metrics in health Care. Productivity and performance management is important for
healthcare managers as this will ensure the healthcare organization or department is more cost
effective and efficient over time. This is done by reducing costs, eliminating waste, and ensuring
efficiency in use of resources. The main focus of productivity management is the ratio of outputs to
inputs. The single and multifactor productivity ratios can be calculated to understand the relationship
between outputs and inputs. Labor staffing models should be used to align volume or demand with
resources. Internal consistent measuring and applying them over the long term will show how a
manager added value and a positive effect on the business operations. Operations metrics is very
useful from a production perspective in that you can monitor units per input per units of output. From
the clinical perspective care managers can quickly access clinical performance against industry
benchmark or an internal baseline value. In order to get a better understanding, let s discuss metric
driven performance improvement and databases that supports it.
Using Metrics for Performance Improvement
Surviving in the healthcare industry is no easy task. Part of staying afloat is improving performance
continually. To do so there needs to be a measurable goal, a timeline to achieve it, and lots

What is it?
This procedure is for permanent hair removal. If you, like many people, have heard it s not possible to

laser hair removal, this is completely permanent and effective on every skin and hair type. With the
insertion of a probe, a slight electric current is transmitted right into each of your hair follicles. The
current destroys the hair matrix and the dermal papillae of the follicle, effectively eliminating hair
growth. Aestheticians work on one hair strand at a time, which means that it is a slow process, but you

The Oompa Loompas In Charlie And The Chocolate Factory
Roald Dahl was a British author, who wrote short stories, poems and screenplays. His books have sold
more than 250 million copies worldwide (www.roalddahl.com). His most famous book was the first
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book which was published in 1964. This book got a lot of negative
feedback not based on the storyline, but based on certain characters in the book. This book focuses on
golden tickets and there are only five, one of them being found by a character named Charlie, who
happens to be poor. The owner, Willy Wonka leads the five winning children on a delightful and
frequently dangerous journey of his factory and only one child wins the big prize which in this case, is
his factory. However, within the factory there are workers called Oompa Loopmas, who are depicted
as black Pygmy people from Africa (Dahl 73). In the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, in
1971, by Mel Stuart the Oompa Loompas are shown as dwarfs with orange skin. Last but not least in
the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Tim Burton depicts the Oompa Loompas as brown
skin people. Throughout all three different versions of the one story the depictions of the Oompa
Loompas skin color changes, but the power dynamics between Willy Wonka, owner, and the Oompa
Loompa stays the same and that confirms that they are slave workers especially within the 1964 book.

The exceptions are geothermal energy, and nuclear fission and fusion. Much of the world s required
energy can be supplied by solar power.
2.1 The first practical solar cell was developed at Bell Laboratories in 1954. With the advent of the
space program, Photovoltaic cells made from semi conductor grade silicon quickly became the power
source of choice for use on satellites. The systems were very reliable, and cost was of little concern. In
the early 1970s, the disruption of oil supplies to the industrialized world led to serious consideration of
Photovoltaic as a terrestrial power source. This application focused research attention on improving
performance, lowering costs and increasing reliability.
Due to the nature of solar energy, two components are required to have a functional solar energy
generator. These two components are a collector and a storage unit. The collector simply collects the
radiation that falls on it and converts a fraction of it to other forms of energy (either electricity and
heat or heat alone). The storage unit is required because of the non constant nature of solar energy; at
certain times only a very small amount of radiation will be received. The storage unit can hold the
excess energy produced during the periods of maximum productivity, and release it when the
productivity drops. In practice, a backup power supply is added, too,

Rei Company Overview
Can REI Climb Higher with Networking and the Internet?
With an old fashioned sensibility and a forward looking embrace of networking and Internet
technology, Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) occupies a distinctive position in the retail market.
Selling gear and clothing for outdoor recreational activities, REI operates 82 stores throughout the
United States, as well as 2 stores on the Web and an adventure themed travel service. Together, these
entities recorded over $1 billion in sales during 2005.
The company was started in 1938 as a cooperative by mountain climbers Lloyd and Mary Anderson

REI is now experimenting with new ways to deliver information to the store floor. It is testing wireless
handheld devices that give employees instant access to product information on the Web, wireless cash
registers and point of sale devices to facilitate quick changes to store layouts, and live two way
videoconferencing based on IP/TV technology that would allow shoppers or sales associates at kiosks
to talk to call center agents or product specialists at REI headquarters or other stores. REI has rolled
out wireless IP telephony phones in its flagship Seattle store and it is considering using its network to
deliver on demand videos to kiosks to supplement employee training.
REI has remained determined to use its multiple channels to support each other. The company s
philosophy is that it doesn t matter which segment of the company is responsible for a sale occurring;
the sale benefits the company as a whole. Jeff Schueler, a usability consultant and founder and CEO of

The Three Stages Of Epistemology In The School Of Knowledge
The term epistemology is derived from the Greek word episteme, meaning knowledge. It is concerned
with what we can know about reality and how we can know it. It seeks to find out the relationship
between the knower and the known. So, basically it is concerned with the sources, the extent, the
possibilities, the legitimacy and the nature of knowledge. Over the course of philosophy, rarely, has
the philosopher concentrated on all of these issues. Most of them have focused on only one or two of
these issues and have excluded the others. There is a vast array of views about those topics, but one
virtually universal presupposition is that knowledge is true belief, but not mere true belief. For
example, lucky guesses or true beliefs resulting from wishful thinking are not knowledge. Thus, a
central question in epistemology is: what must be added to true beliefs to convert them into
knowledge (Klein, 2005). Some key epistemological questions are:
What is knowledge? How we can define the concept of knowledge?
What is the extent of our knowledge? About what sorts of things the knowledge can be acquired?

It s not a secret that Apple has plentiful rewards for its employee, however, the aim of distributing the
rewards is to get high performance from employees. Then, how does Apple use rewards to get
innovation and productivity from employees? I think this question needs to relate to Apple s corporate
philosophy building a performance culture, which requires significant differentiation based on
performance, and it s clear that in this culture, the top performers and those who are working on
mission critical products are treated significantly differently.
The rewards for motivating top executives
The rewards for executives are stock option and bonus, since stock option, which cannot be sell at one

the company s performance and its stock price are tied tightly up with the money he or she could get.

The Japanese Internment Camps
Finding your Identity
After the attack on the Pearl Harbor in 1941, a surprise military strike by the Japanese Navy air
service, United States was thrilled and it provoked World War II. Two months after the attack on Pearl
Harbor, U.S. President FDR ordered all Japanese Americans regardless of their loyalty or citizenship,
to evacuate the West Coast. This resulted over 127,000 people of Japanese descent relocate across the
country in the Japanese Internment camps. Many of them were American Citizens but their crime was
being of Japanese ancestry. They were forced to evacuate their homes and leave their jobs and in some
cases family members were separated and put into different internment camps. There were ten
internment camps were placed in California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas
(History.com). However, until the camps were fully build, the Japanese people were held in temporary
centers. In addition, almost two thirds of the interns were Japanese Americans born in the United
States and It made no difference that many of them had never even been to Japan. Also, Japanese
American veterans of World War I were forced to leave their homes and relocate in the internment
camps. Japanese families in internment camps dined together, children were expected to attend school,
and adults had the option of working for earning $5 per day. The United States government hoped that
the internment camps could make it self sufficient by farming to produce food.

The Failure Of Freedom In Arthur Miller s The Crucible
For the past 20 years, Americans have watched as the news displayed more and more headlines about
massacres, scandals, and acts of terror. In addition, pictures of rallies and protests, similar to Edelson s
portrayal of the protests in Berkeley, California, have flooded the newspapers. All of these recurring
events instill a strong sense of fear into the American public. If America touts itself as being the land
of the free and the home of the brave, why do its inhabitants feel powerless and vulnerable? Social
critic, H.L. Mencken states that the average man does not want to be free, and behind the facade of
freedom, he simply wants to be safe. Through examples in Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the
overbearing weight which fear has on one s life is extremely evident. In addition, Robert J. Samuelson
s support of Trump s proposal for a wall running along the Mexican American border in his article
Yes, Build the Wall, is a clear example of the extent to which Americans in contemporary society are
willing to go to protect themselves from any possible threat. Although the average man craves the
freedom to live according to his own wishes, one is willing to ultimately give up those desires in order
to live in a bubble of safety, suppressing any fragment of fear. Although one is inclined to live a
sheltered life in the bubble that is safety, one truly craves freedom. Freedom is the one of the core
values on which this country was built. The founding fathers who formed

If You Can Not Preach Like Paul
This hermeneutical journey report will highlight the Swing method provided by Nancy Lamers
Grossman in her book, If You Cannot Preach Like Paul. This particular sermon writing process
focuses on the scripture text John1:1 18, and it will be written and preached in a style that reflects
Anna Carter Florence s Testimonial Methodology.
Choosing the Text:
This particular sermon is being prepared for an evening vesper service on the first Sunday of Advent.
This will be the third service of the day for this particular congregation, and it will follow the morning
services, which will have been guided by the lectionary text for that day. For this particular service,
candle light, and light in general, is a main theme. The congregation will sit within the sanctuary, and
the only light will be from the candle light and Advent decoration. Also, this service is to help
congregation members prepare their hearts for the Advent season in its entirety. It is a service that
marks the beginning of an important journey. I chose the passage John1:1 18 in an attempt to meet the
two main needs that this service requires, light imagery and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The
light is significant in this text because the author refers to Jesus being the light for the world that sits
in darkness, which seemed to me to be a great place to start for this particular service. Additionally,
this passage is the gospel text for this upcoming Christmas Daily Text reading. I felt that if this is to

The Security Of Data Tightly And Information Security

In today s world transformation of data very securely and information security are the most important
categories for the organizations to follow or else the information can easily be taken away by the
enemies. In olden days the organizations used to follow the encryption and decryption for the
transformation of data securely which is known as cryptography. In cryptography the security of data
depends on how strong the encryption and decryption are said to be used. But it is not very easy for
the sender and receiver to recall all the passwords. So avoid those difficulties crypto biometric is used

the problems that are faced in the biometric. The biometric system which contains the information
should not reveal any biometric features. It should also have the flexibility of converting the varied
data in to the fixed. So, the data cannot be revealed to the unauthorized person when it was

Samuel Taylor Contribution To Psychology
INTRODUCTION
Organization Defined
Organizations are complex systems which rely on people, structures and technology to achieve their
goals and objectives. They are created to serve the needs of the societies or communities in which they
operate and are influenced by both their internal environment (culture) and their external environment.
As defined by Robins an organization is a continuously co ordinated social unit of two or more people
that functions on a relatively continuous basis to achieve a common goal or set of goals (Robins
2005).
Organizational Behaviour Defined
Behaviour on the other hand, he defines simply as the actions of people (Robins 2005). Organization
behaviour (often referred to as OB) is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although his work emphasized the technical rather than purely human side of management, he did
point out the role of specific incentives in motivating workers and the value of specialization. Perhaps
Taylor s greatest contribution to the study of management and organizational behaviour was his
approach of applying the scientific method to industrial problems. (Colonel Samuel H Hays and
Lieutenant Colonel William N Thomas,Taking Command, Stackpole Books, USA, 1976, p 93). This
scientific approach has been adopted by several theorists and applied to the filed of organizational
behaviour.
CONTRIBUTIONS BY VARIOUS DISCIPLINS
The Contribution of Psychology to the field of OB
The psychological contribution to OB focussed on understanding individuals and predicting their
behaviour, and using that knowledge within organizations to improve the organization s competitive
advantage. Psychological studies focussed on areas such as perceptions, learning, personality
development, needs and motivation. Of these areas motivation is the over arching factor and most
important to the organizational setting because it deals with an individual s willingness to work.
Motivation is defined as the conscious decision to direct effort toward one activity more than others
(Coffey et. al). Of course one cannot speak of motivation unless they mention Abraham Maslow and
his hierarchy of needs theory. Maslow hypothesized that within every

The Similarities And Differences Of Panda s Adaptation
Pandas are very unique animals, and they have many adaptations that can help them survive. These
interesting mammals are extinct, so there are only about 1,300 to 2,000 of them left in bamboo forests.
Pandas live in the central regions of China. They live in cool, wet bamboo forests, so it is easier for
them to find food. A pandas latin name is Ailuropoda malenoleuca. Ailuropoda stands for black and

one of the most interesting mammals out there, because of their outstanding adaptations. Pandas have

fur to their skin. The top of the mountain during the winter is the coldest place to be during this time.
Traveling down the mountain can make it easier for pandas to survive during this rough time.
Pandas have so many unique adaptations besides their sixth toe, strong jaw muscles, and how they
make their way down the mountain. There is one adaptation that helps them through their whole life
and they wouldn t know what to do without it. When a panda is a baby, their mother will play

be able to survive when in a fight. When a mother plays with a cub, the cub starts to learn how to
think fast, act back, and know exactly what to do when being attacked. This survival skill allows the

The Negative Stereotypes In The Last Of The Mohicans
Hollywood movies have shaped perceptions of North American culture through the storytelling of
facts, fiction, history and myths. For a time there was no other genre that has become more important
to Hollywood in a culture driven industry fueled by formulas. As a film genre nothing was so
adaptable towards American sensibilities as the Western. Set in the nineteenth century where a large
section of the United States was still undiscovered; it is known as the Wild West. The central plot of a
western film is the classic goal of maintaining law and order on the frontier in an action, adventure
story. Directors would maintain this melodramatic formula by using archetypal characters that the
audience readily recognizes from frequent appearances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A brief summary is about three trappers, whom are associated with the Mohican tribe, are protecting a
British Colonel s daughters in the midst of the French and Indian War or the Seven s Year War. The
movie was one of the few films to depict that Native Americans can be noble, yet it focuses too much
attention on the savageness of Native Americans who cut out hearts and burn people alive. Although
not all Native Americans were good; it upped the violence committed by the negative stereotype to
heighten the romance and entertainment. Another point to notice was the perceptive used to narrate the
film. The English and French militaries played an important factor that gives the audience assess to a
foreigners perspective while trying to possess the new land. Although the name of the film is based on
the last chief of the Mohicans, Chingachgook and his son Uncas, the central perspective of the film is
about Hawkeye, an English born scout, who living as a native and mediator throughout the action. In
the hunting scene from the opening of the film, the viewer s gaze follows Hawkeye s actions as he

who was not a Mohican, the film loses the real history it could have told to the audience from the eyes
of an actual American Indian. The film evocatively set in Hawkeye s point of view watching the
battles as an outsider looking in. It also notices the struggles and forces that were against Hawkeye,
while the survivors of the Mohican tribe play backseat to him. The use of the savage Indian takes on
many roles in earlier films before directors tried to represent Native Americans as similar to equal as

Shakespeare Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, focuses on identity, love, and comedy. While we made our
adaptation to this play, we chose to have a more modern approach. Because we decided on a modern
adaptation, we had to come up with a modern storyline; therefore, there is still love and confusion
about identity. Taking place in 2015 in Los Angeles, Orsino is the number one modeling agency in the
state. Along with a new setting, we have also changed some actions with the characters, meaning some
things that take place in the play are not a part of our storyline (for example Feste as the Clown). Our
adaptation has the potential to be a real movie because it is realistic. The main purpose behind
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night was to entertain, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic irony.
For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking feminine face.
Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is
when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring
men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This
works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her
statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man.
The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to
be a man. Our adaptation of this play can work as a movie because of the way we decided to set it up.
Since we decided to modernize the play, our version of it can easily translate to screen. It works
especially when specific stage directions are added to the script. For example, one of the stage
directions describes that Viola flashes her I.D. She waits a while before Maria lifts her eyes from the
screen and looks at the I.D. , which is found right under line 4. Simple, yet straight forward commands
like that make it easy for whom ever is reading the script to know exactly what to do when it comes to
acting out a part of the play. But also, because our adaptation is much more modern, it would make it
easy for the play to work as a

The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston
In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes around comes
around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a narrative in order to achieve a desired
effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of
the events are carefully thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved,
therefore creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in this plot
are the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where Sykes is being discussed by
local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake, and Sykes getting bit by the snake.
The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and Sykes in the
beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes. She reacts in fear, saying,
Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and
Sykes go back and forth about how scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants
to scare her. Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose. Sykes is
shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him (Hurston). At this point in the story,
the reader gets a good idea of the relationship between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and
Sykes are opposites, Sykes badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene
serves as rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear, because
the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the end of this part of Hurston s
story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says, Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back,
is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his
sowing (Hurston).
The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. When they see Delia, they spark
a conversation about how badly Sykes treats Delia (Hurston). A few of the townspeople comment
angrily, He useter be so skeered uh lookin huh...We oughter take Syke an dat stray oman uh his n

The man faced isolation because of the remote environment in which he is in and also because he
isolated himself away from his imagination. The man is on journey in the Yukon wilderness during
middle of the winter. London describes the setting as colorless and white, and that there was no sun,
not even a hint of sun in the sky. The man is isolated from any color, sun, and civilization. The man is
not only in an isolated environment, but he also had isolated himself away from his imagination. He
wasn t able to picture anything going wrong during his journey and ignored the warnings of other
experienced travelers, saying that conditions were too cold to travel in alone. During his trip he can t
imagine the consequences that he will face because of the extremely cold weather. For example, he
wasn t properly dressed for the conditions he was in, and he couldn t imagine how long the trip would
actually take. In the man s situation, his form of isolation had a negative impact on his life and was
cause of his death. The man s isolation was caused by behavioral differences because he made his own
decisions, and chose to be in a situation where he was faced with isolation. I think that this situation
could happen in the 21st century, but isn t as likely as would have been in the past. If this was to
happen today, the man would probably just have driven to his desired location or would have called a
friend for

Film Analysis Story vs. Film
Film vs. Short Story Analysis The Curious Case of Benjamin Button In reviewing the Paramount film
adaptation of The Curious of Benjamin Button, directed by David Fincher and screenplay by Eric
Roth, with the original story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, one may conclude that there are more differences
than there are similarities. The film version does maintain the main premise of the story, in that, it tells
the tale of a man born old that grew up to be young, a story on aging. I will attempt to provide you
with my view of the two mediums regarding their characters, settings and elements in the film that
enhance or distract from the story. First, let s review the characters in the main story, of which there
are few in the literary story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film version contained two mothers , actually; the birth mother who dies giving birth to him that
we later find out was named Caroline, her maiden name being Murphy. We catch a brief glimpse of
her just after the birth when she makes the father promise that Benjamin would have a place in his life.
Of course he is upset and he looks at what may be a monstrosity for a son, blaming the child for her
death and dumps Benjamin on the stairs at the old folk s home where an African American woman,
named Queenie, becomes his surrogate mother. Here is a loving and nurturing individual that raises
him in the film where there is no loving or nurturing female in the literary story. Now in the literary
story Benjamin has a grandfather who at the start was antagonized, became to enjoy his grandson s
company. It is a brief account of his grandfather but a meaningful one as this was the first one who
gave him a sense of acceptance. The film version gave him acceptance through Queenie and we never
get to know a grandfather; though one could say the patrons at the old folk s home could have been
grandparent surrogates for Benjamin. The patrons at the old folks home taught him many things but
his experience living there taught him not to fear death and what loss was about which, in a sense,
desensitized the character so that when Queenie passes he is not visibly upset. The last characters that

it was his favorite thing to do.
About ten years later, Taro had an opportunity to achieve his dream. Nobled were eager to protect the

they didn t care. While others didn t want to improve, Taro would do anything he could to improve
himself. Taro would stay up at night and practice his skills. Everyday, he would exercise and tried to
improve his skills.
After a month of training, Taro became the best samurai in the army. Other samurai were jealous of
Taro since he was better than them.Taro then decided to teach other samurais to improve their skills. It

Women s Roles Of Women
Women play an important role in any society. However, throughout history, women are held separate
and unequal to men. In From The Thousand and One Knights, Aladdin s Wonderful lamp the roles of
women is to find marriage and remain modest to the non Mahram. Non Mahram is someone who
woman can marry, and someone who women should cover their self in front of. In the epic, from
Sundiata, the role of women is defined only in relationship to men who hold a high position in society
and to show obedience towards them. Women in both stories are highly influential. However, if there
stories were read from a native person s point of view, such as a Persian or an Egyptian, he or she
would have a better understanding for this Islamic culture. Sharia law is applied to every Islamic
country. One of the laws allowed men to practice polygamy, where a man can have multiple
simultaneous wives. Marriage is a vital in a Muslims life. In Islamic traditions, men are the head of
their family and the women should treat them with obedience. Although women s roles in both stories
are very much unequal to men, women are highly depended and needed in men s lives. The role of
women in Sundiata and Aladdin is to follow Islamic traditions of what a Muslim woman should be.
In Sundiata, the role of women is defined only in relationship to men who hold a high position in
society and to show obedience towards them because it is a part of Islamic traditions. In order for the
king to protect his city, the

Analyzing The Concept Of Zeta Score And The Details It...
1. Expound on credit analysis. Use the concept of zeta score and the details it includes?
Credit analysis is the process by which financial institutions examine the creditability, credit history
and financial situation of a client or potential borrowers. No bank or moneylender would wish to
jeopardize their money, therefore necessitating this process. At the same time, for bond portfolio
managers or investors to debt issuing companies, the basis of their credit rating and financial
situations also need to be established. The process of investigation to get this information also defines
credit analysis. Credit rating is an important instrument used by lenders when performing credit
analysis of bond issuing institutions or individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes the issuer want to retrieve the bonds before the expiry of the allocated time so as to resell
them at lower interest rates. The issuer reserves the right to return investors principal and stop interest
payment before the maturity of bonds, of course at a higher rate than what the bond was sold at. Due
to this reason, the duration is not applicable to callable bonds.
Similar to this, duration has no applicability in the case of common stocks and real estate. It is because
a common stock is the subject of high risk due to fluctuations in prices. In the event of stocks,
investors will tend to sell stocks any time when their price is higher than prices on the date of
acquisition. The investment in stocks and real estate is made to gain higher returns whenever their
prices increase. Due to this reason, period or maturity term is not applicable in common stocks and
real estate, since their disposal is heavily pegged on the market prices.
b) Describe the way duration is used and how it is adjusted with convexity? The most popular way in
which duration is employed by the investors is to measure the volatility of the bond or any other
financial security. As time progresses, stock prices and yields fluctuate and in most cases, this
fluctuation was not foreseen. Due to this reason, investors usually select a specified period to measure
the performance of securities, which is significant identifying the level of risk associated with their

My Life Of The Dixie Chicks
On August 17, 2016, as I sat in row GG seat 4, I realized that my childhood had come to a close. Just
seven days shy of starting a new chapter in my life, college, I was standing in Bridgestone Arena in
the presence of the Dixie Chicks. Since I was a little girl, I have been listening to their music through
out every part of my life. I can remember as a three year old, blonde headed little girl, my daddy
would put one of their CDs in the radio and dance around the living room with me standing on his
feet. On Sunday afternoons, when I was around the age of six, my Mi mi, Uncle David, and I would
pile into their jeep and go for a ride down some back roads with their music playing in the
background. Or as a thirteen year old girl, knowing every single word to Travelin Solider. Now as an
eighteen year old, as I listened to the song being played, I thought to myself, This is it. I am about to
enter a brand new chapter in my life.
Rewind to six months earlier, it was Valentine s Day and my parents were getting ready to give my
sister and I our gifts. We were handed a small, narrow wrapped box that contained tickets to the DCX
MMXVI World Tour. My parents had bought tickets for them, my sister, and I. This tour was said to
be the final tour that the Dixie Chicks would perform and we were going to the concert in Nashville.
Since I had a love for the group from birth, I was ecstatic! It was just a waiting game after we received
the tickets because the concert was six months

Childhood Is An Exceptional And Progressive Time Of...
Childhood is an exceptional and progressive time of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional
development (Cozolino, 2010). The brain and its biological stress system are genetically programmed
and influenced by early experience. Trauma has developmental consequences on children.
Developmental traumatology research is systemic investigation of the psychiatric and
psychobiological impact of the overwhelming and chronic interpersonal violence on the developing
child (De Bellis, 2001, p. 539). It combines frameworks from developmental psychopathology,
developmental neuroscience, and stress and trauma research (De Bellis, 2001). Child maltreatment
experiences can be defined as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and witnessing of domestic
violence or community violence and these may be the most common causes of interpersonal traumas
in children and adolescence (De Bellis, 2001).
Child abuse experiences may cause delays or deficits in a child s ability to achieve age appropriate
behavioral, cognitive, and emotional regulation (Cozolino, 2010). When the child caregiver
relationship is the source of the trauma the attachment relationship is severely compromised as 80% of
maltreated children develop insecure or avoidant attachment patterns (Smith, 2012). Consequences of
a disrupted attachment include impairments in bio psychosocial competencies including increased
susceptibility to stress and difficulty focusing attention; inability to regulate emotions and behaviors

Stevie Wonder Research Paper
Stevie Wonder is an African American musician who had to overcome a large obstacle, his blindness.
Although he had to deal with a life changing disability, Stevie s determined attitude and love for music
helped him find ways to overcome this significant challenge. Despite his blindness, Stevie Wonder
became one of the most popular and celebrated musicians in this country. He amazed many people
when he accomplished unbelievable things, such as being honored with many awards including 25
Grammys (Bio.com). Stevie Wonder was born on May 13, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan. Stevie was
born premature and was placed in an incubator for 40 days and 40 nights (Bio.com). During this time,
the doctors noticed that he was not responding to visual stimuli. ... Show more content on

As a result of Stevie s impressive talent, he was signed to the label by Berry Gordy, the founder of
Motown Records (Ribowsky 46). When Stevie became a part of the Motown label, he began to spend
a lot of time at the studio and he became very comfortable there. Since Stevie was one of the youngest
people working at Motown, he loved to have fun and play tricks on people by using his handicap.
Stevie would say things that made it seem like he could see, so that it would freak people out
(Ribowsky 61). Although being blind could be very upsetting to Stevie at times, his attitude towards
his disability was not always negative. He sometimes used his handicap to have fun and make the best
of dull days at the studio. When Stevie walked into different things in the studio, it didn t frustrate
him, it would just make him laugh (Ribowsky 67). Although Stevie loved to have fun and didn t take
himself too seriously, his disability made average things very hard for him. While most people could
read things off of paper, Stevie had to memorize everything through sound. See, Stevie just worked so
hard, cause he had to, bein blind and all, recalls the guitarist Eddie Chank Willis. Everyone else had
the chords, the lyrics, everything on paper. Stevie had to memorize it all and Clarence would have
gotten all the different little changes in tempo, beat, whatever (Ribowsky 66). Instead of reading the
words when Stevie recorded music, the person that was working with him in the studio would say the
lyrics a little bit before him, and then Stevie would repeat them, making the experience longer and
more complicated (Ribowsky

A Comparison Of Two Dramatic Action Crime Movies
The two movies that I have chosen to write about, are two movies that are very special to me. I grew
up watching these movies countless times, and still to this day enjoy giving them a watch. The movies
I chose were The Dark Knight (2008) and No Country for Old Men (2007). Both of these movies are
very unique, especially for going against what most movies belonging to this genre do. Both of these
are Dramatic Action Crime films. It s quite a mouthful, but those are all of my favorite genres in one.
Now, on the surface, these two movies would seem vastly different, but surprisingly enough, they are
quite similar. For example, you have the menacing villain, who s a ruthless killer. In the case of The
Dark Knight, you have the Joker, who relies on fear and madness to ... Show more content on

However, from the character s point of view, he is simply a vigilante. Llewelyn Moss however, is
definitely an antihero. He takes money that simply doesn t belong to him, even if it was from a drug
deal gone wrong, that was still morally wrong. Both main characters attempt to keep their partner s
safe, and unfortunately they both fail. No Country for Old Men s visual imagery suggests that Anton
kills Carla Jean Moss, he checks his boots for blood as he leaves her house. In The Dark Knight, the
audience actually sees Rachel get blown up. Possibly the saddest and most surprising part of The Dark
Knight, Bruce Wayne must find a way to move on and defeat The Joker, and newly turned villain
Harvey Dent (Two Face). Both of these movies are great, and if you haven t seen either of them, I
would definitely encourage you to watch them. In my 18 years of living, these two movies have
continued to stay my favorite movies of all time. Many other movies have impressed me recently, It
(2017) and Baby Driver (2017) Would be my two favorite movies if I had to restrict my choices to
movies that have come out this

  • 2. Chinese Immigration Essay example In many aspects, the motivations for the Chinese to come to the United States were similar to those of most immigrants. Some came to The Gold Mountain, and others came to the United States to seek better economic opportunity. Yet there were others that were compelled to leave China either as contract laborers or refugees. The Chinese brought with them their language, culture, social institutions, and customs. Over time they made lasting contributions to their adopted country and became a vital part of the United States population (Immigration Station). Upon hearing the word of gold in California, thousands of Chinese, mostly young male peasants, left their villages in the rural countries to become rich in the American West. Few actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others such as peasants and workers were not allowed to enter due to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. This Act set a precedent by being the first law to ban a specific group from the country. It included many rules and regulations, including a ban on Chinese laborers entering the country, and punishment for anyone who tried to sneak or transport Chinese into the country. It was impossible to absolutely prevent Chinese immigration from occurring, but America tried its best to limit the number that entered. The shared opinion of many in the United States during this time felt that the Chinese were inferior, for they did not realize the bigger picture and the actual effect that Chinese would have on the United States. The American and the Chinese governments agreed that the immigrants were endangering the government and economy of China. This led them to limit, regulate, or suspend the residency of Chinese in the United States (Archives 2). His books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide (www.roalddahl.com). His most famous book was the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book which was published in 1964. This book got a lot of negative feedback not based on the storyline, but based on certain characters in the book. This book focuses on golden tickets and there are only five, one of them being found by a character named Charlie, who happens to be poor. The owner, Willy Wonka leads the five winning children on a delightful and frequently dangerous journey of his factory and only one child wins the big prize which in this case, is his factory. However, within the factory there are workers called Oompa Loopmas, who are depicted as black Pygmy people from Africa (Dahl 73). With the advent of the space program, Photovoltaic cells made from semi conductor grade silicon quickly became the power source of choice for use on satellites. The systems were very reliable, and cost was of little concern. In the early 1970s, the disruption of oil supplies to the industrialized world led to serious consideration of Photovoltaic as a terrestrial power source. This application focused research attention on improving performance, lowering costs and increasing reliability. Due to the nature of solar energy, two components are required to have a functional solar energy generator. These two components are a collector and a storage unit. The collector simply collects the radiation that falls on it and converts a fraction of it to other forms of energy (either electricity and heat or heat alone). The storage unit is required because of the non constant nature of solar energy; at certain times only a very small amount of radiation will be received. The storage unit can hold the excess energy produced during the periods of maximum productivity, and release it when the productivity drops. In practice, a backup power supply is added, too,

  • 24. The Three Stages Of Epistemology In The School Of Knowledge The term epistemology is derived from the Greek word episteme, meaning knowledge. It is concerned with what we can know about reality and how we can know it. It seeks to find out the relationship between the knower and the known. So, basically it is concerned with the sources, the extent, the possibilities, the legitimacy and the nature of knowledge. Over the course of philosophy, rarely, has the philosopher concentrated on all of these issues. Most of them have focused on only one or two of these issues and have excluded the others. There is a vast array of views about those topics, but one virtually universal presupposition is that knowledge is true belief, but not mere true belief. For example, lucky guesses or true beliefs resulting from wishful thinking are not knowledge. Thus, a central question in epistemology is: what must be added to true beliefs to convert them into knowledge (Klein, 2005). Some key epistemological questions are: What is knowledge? • 29. The Failure Of Freedom In Arthur Miller s The Crucible For the past 20 years, Americans have watched as the news displayed more and more headlines about massacres, scandals, and acts of terror. In addition, pictures of rallies and protests, similar to Edelson s portrayal of the protests in Berkeley, California, have flooded the newspapers. All of these recurring events instill a strong sense of fear into the American public. If America touts itself as being the land of the free and the home of the brave, why do its inhabitants feel powerless and vulnerable? Social critic, H.L. Mencken states that the average man does not want to be free, and behind the facade of freedom, he simply wants to be safe. Through examples in Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the overbearing weight which fear has on one s life is extremely evident. In addition, Robert J. Samuelson s support of Trump s proposal for a wall running along the Mexican American border in his article Yes, Build the Wall, is a clear example of the extent to which Americans in contemporary society are willing to go to protect themselves from any possible threat. Although the average man craves the freedom to live according to his own wishes, one is willing to ultimately give up those desires in order to live in a bubble of safety, suppressing any fragment of fear. Although one is inclined to live a sheltered life in the bubble that is safety, one truly craves freedom. Freedom is the one of the core values on which this country was built. This particular sermon writing process focuses on the scripture text John1:1 18, and it will be written and preached in a style that reflects Anna Carter Florence s Testimonial Methodology. Choosing the Text: This particular sermon is being prepared for an evening vesper service on the first Sunday of Advent. This will be the third service of the day for this particular congregation, and it will follow the morning services, which will have been guided by the lectionary text for that day. For this particular service, candle light, and light in general, is a main theme. The congregation will sit within the sanctuary, and the only light will be from the candle light and Advent decoration. Also, this service is to help congregation members prepare their hearts for the Advent season in its entirety. It is a service that marks the beginning of an important journey. I chose the passage John1:1 18 in an attempt to meet the two main needs that this service requires, light imagery and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The light is significant in this text because the author refers to Jesus being the light for the world that sits in darkness, which seemed to me to be a great place to start for this particular service. This scientific approach has been adopted by several theorists and applied to the filed of organizational behaviour. For a time there was no other genre that has become more important to Hollywood in a culture driven industry fueled by formulas. As a film genre nothing was so adaptable towards American sensibilities as the Western. Set in the nineteenth century where a large section of the United States was still undiscovered; it is known as the Wild West. Although not all Native Americans were good; it upped the violence committed by the negative stereotype to heighten the romance and entertainment. Another point to notice was the perceptive used to narrate the film. The English and French militaries played an important factor that gives the audience assess to a foreigners perspective while trying to possess the new land. In order to achieve this literary device that is major to our movie, we decided to use dramatic irony. For example, Maria makes a comment about Viola saying that she has a soft looking feminine face. Since Maria has not yet figured out that Viola is in fact a man, it adds to the irony. Another example is when Felix is talking to Viola, who he believes is Caesar, about how Duke Orsino was only hiring men for the internship. Viola talks about how she was willing to do anything about it (29 30). This works as dramatic irony as well because only Viola and the audience know what Viola meant by her statement. Viola s willingness to do anything meant that she was willing to disguise herself as a man. The ironic part is that none of the characters know that Caesar is actually Viola actually pretending to be a man. • 40. The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes around comes around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a narrative in order to achieve a desired effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of the events are carefully thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved, therefore creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in this plot are the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where Sykes is being discussed by local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake, and Sykes getting bit by the snake. The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and Sykes in the beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes. She reacts in fear, saying, Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and Sykes go back and forth about how scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants to scare her. Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose. Sykes is shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him (Hurston). At this point in the story, the reader gets a good idea of the relationship between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and Sykes are opposites, Sykes badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene serves as rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear, because the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the end of this part of Hurston s story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says, Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing (Hurston). The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. It makes the issuer want to retrieve the bonds before the expiry of the allocated time so as to resell them at lower interest rates. The issuer reserves the right to return investors principal and stop interest payment before the maturity of bonds, of course at a higher rate than what the bond was sold at. Due to this reason, the duration is not applicable to callable bonds. Similar to this, duration has no applicability in the case of common stocks and real estate. It is because a common stock is the subject of high risk due to fluctuations in prices. • 47. My Life Of The Dixie Chicks On August 17, 2016, as I sat in row GG seat 4, I realized that my childhood had come to a close. Just seven days shy of starting a new chapter in my life, college, I was standing in Bridgestone Arena in the presence of the Dixie Chicks. Since I was a little girl, I have been listening to their music through out every part of my life. I can remember as a three year old, blonde headed little girl, my daddy would put one of their CDs in the radio and dance around the living room with me standing on his feet. On Sunday afternoons, when I was around the age of six, my Mi mi, Uncle David, and I would pile into their jeep and go for a ride down some back roads with their music playing in the background. Or as a thirteen year old girl, knowing every single word to Travelin Solider. Now as an eighteen year old, as I listened to the song being played, I thought to myself, This is it. I am about to enter a brand new chapter in my life. Rewind to six months earlier, it was Valentine s Day and my parents were getting ready to give my sister and I our gifts. We were handed a small, narrow wrapped box that contained tickets to the DCX MMXVI World Tour. My parents had bought tickets for them, my sister, and I. This tour was said to be the final tour that the Dixie Chicks would perform and we were going to the concert in Nashville. Since I had a love for the group from birth, I was ecstatic! It was just a waiting game after we received the tickets because the concert was six months ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Childhood Is An Exceptional And Progressive Time Of... Childhood is an exceptional and progressive time of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional development (Cozolino, 2010). The brain and its biological stress system are genetically programmed and influenced by early experience. Trauma has developmental consequences on children. Developmental traumatology research is systemic investigation of the psychiatric and psychobiological impact of the overwhelming and chronic interpersonal violence on the developing child (De Bellis, 2001, p. 539). It combines frameworks from developmental psychopathology, developmental neuroscience, and stress and trauma research (De Bellis, 2001). Child maltreatment experiences can be defined as neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and witnessing of domestic violence or community violence and these may be the most common causes of interpersonal traumas in children and adolescence (De Bellis, 2001). Child abuse experiences may cause delays or deficits in a child s ability to achieve age appropriate behavioral, cognitive, and emotional regulation (Cozolino, 2010). When the child caregiver relationship is the source of the trauma the attachment relationship is severely compromised as 80% of maltreated children develop insecure or avoidant attachment patterns (Smith, 2012). Consequences of a disrupted attachment include impairments in bio psychosocial competencies including increased susceptibility to stress and difficulty focusing attention; inability to regulate emotions and behaviors can ... When Stevie became a part of the Motown label, he began to spend a lot of time at the studio and he became very comfortable there. Since Stevie was one of the youngest people working at Motown, he loved to have fun and play tricks on people by using his handicap. Stevie would say things that made it seem like he could see, so that it would freak people out (Ribowsky 61). Although being blind could be very upsetting to Stevie at times, his attitude towards his disability was not always negative. He sometimes used his handicap to have fun and make the best of dull days at the studio. When Stevie walked into different things in the studio, it didn t frustrate him, it would just make him laugh (Ribowsky 67). Although Stevie loved to have fun and didn t take himself too seriously, his disability made average things very hard for him. While most people could read things off of paper, Stevie had to memorize everything through sound. See, Stevie just worked so hard, cause he had to, bein blind and all, recalls the guitarist Eddie Chank Willis. Everyone else had the chords, the lyrics, everything on paper. Stevie had to memorize it all and Clarence would have gotten all the different little changes in tempo, beat, whatever (Ribowsky 66). • 50. A Comparison Of Two Dramatic Action Crime Movies The two movies that I have chosen to write about, are two movies that are very special to me. I grew up watching these movies countless times, and still to this day enjoy giving them a watch. The movies I chose were The Dark Knight (2008) and No Country for Old Men (2007). Both of these movies are very unique, especially for going against what most movies belonging to this genre do. Both of these are Dramatic Action Crime films. It s quite a mouthful, but those are all of my favorite genres in one. Now, on the surface, these two movies would seem vastly different, but surprisingly enough, they are quite similar. For example, you have the menacing villain, who s a ruthless killer. In the case of The Dark Knight, you have the Joker, who relies on fear and madness to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, from the character s point of view, he is simply a vigilante. Llewelyn Moss however, is definitely an antihero. He takes money that simply doesn t belong to him, even if it was from a drug deal gone wrong, that was still morally wrong. Both main characters attempt to keep their partner s safe, and unfortunately they both fail. No Country for Old Men s visual imagery suggests that Anton kills Carla Jean Moss, he checks his boots for blood as he leaves her house. In The Dark Knight, the audience actually sees Rachel get blown up. Possibly the saddest and most surprising part of The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne must find a way to move on and defeat The Joker, and newly turned villain Harvey Dent (Two Face). Both of these movies are great, and if you haven t seen either of them, I would definitely encourage you to watch them. In my 18 years of living, these two movies have continued to stay my favorite movies of all time. Many other movies have impressed me recently, It (2017) and Baby Driver (2017) Would be my two favorite movies if I had to restrict my choices to movies that have come out this ...
