The Origin Of The Clarinet In The 1600 s
The origination of the clarinet began in the 1600 s. It was an improved version of the Chalumeau the
first narrow reed instrument. The difference between the two instruments was that, the clarinet now
had two extra keys, and it contained a higher range by over two octaves! He also invented a better
mouthpiece, and a slightly improved bell. 1690, the clarinet was created. It is known to be a single
reed woodwind instrument with a cylindrical tube . All the credit for this creation goes to Johann
Christopher Denver and his son Jacob Denver. Nuremberg, Germany was the location where the
clarinet was made. Even though the Clarinet came to existence in 1690, it took many decades
afterwards for it be finalized. Towards the end of the 1700 s, the clarinet met new designs and
features. The cut holes, where we cover our fingers with, was experimented on many times. They
needed to see which shape and size had the best effect, in terms of sound. After the cut holes were
mastered, notes became an issue to create. But, with the help of Iwan Mutters 13 keyed model
everything was falling together. Furthermore, the fingering system developed by Theobald Boehm
was adapted to the clarinet. This system is best known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as time passed many famous artist like, Christopher Gluck, Georg Telemann, and Jean
Philippe Rameau, featured them in their musical pieces. The clarinets ability to blend in with other
instruments caused an attraction to composers. They loved how the instrument had such nice multi
talents . The clarinets first big step forward was due to Wolfgang Mozart. He brought the clarinet to
real life by penning a clarinet concerto. A concerto is a musical composition for a solo instrument or
instruments accompanied by an orchestra, especially one conceived on a relatively large scale . Till
date, this concerto is known to be one of the most astonishing pieces to

Rivaroxaban Essay
Rivaroxaban is a factor Xa inhibitor that may be useful as a treatment for deep vein thrombosis

The causes of premature discontinuation are adverse events, consent withdrawal, and loss to follow
up. Patient demographics are reported as well, and the authors provide a useful table with basic patient
information including age, weight, gender, and renal function. There are some very miniscule
differences in groups for both studies, but these differences should not affect the results because of
randomization. The trial results are reported in percentages of event occurrence in a population. While
these are useful in understanding the frequency of harmful effects or successful treatment, a surrogate
measurement and use of INR measurements may provide a better idea of the extent of safety or
efficacy. In the Acute DVT Study, the primary efficacy endpoint occurred in 2.1% of rivaroxaban

The Progressive Tax System Of The United States Essay
There is an issue that has plagued the United States even prior to the founding of the nation. That issue
is fair taxation. While the American Colonists were being taxed unfairly without parliamentary
representation, average modern Americans are being taxed unfairly without legal representation. Some
hold the belief that the progressive tax code employed by the United States to be fair as the wealthy
pay a higher marginal tax rate. The operative word there being marginal. As the upper class typically
has a much lower effective tax rate since they are able to afford tax attorneys who are able to find
many deductions that average citizens are unaware of. Mitt Romney is a prime example of low
effective rates of taxation. According to CNN Money, Mitt Romney made twenty one million dollars
in one year, but only paid an effective rate of fifteen percent, which is much lower than the rate he
should be paying. The progressive tax system is one that is littered with loopholes, but those are only
known to those with the means to search them out as the federal tax code spans seventy thousand of
pages of convoluted text. Not even the highest paid tax accountants will ever read anywhere near the
full volume of tax laws. By the tax code being as long as it is, few are able to reap the full benefits of
the tax code. The level of complicated text is not the only major issue with the federal tax code.
Another issue with the tax code of the United States is the inability to separate

What Is The Theme Of The Danger Of A Single Story
The TED Talk The Danger of a Single Story by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie talks about how a
single story can leave a permanent impression on the recipient about a certain topic. This can cause an
impossibility for the recipient to see the topic as anything else but how the author portrayed it. One
example of this thesis that Adichie used was from her childhood. Adichie states: So, the year I turned
eight, we got a new house boy ... The only thing my mother told us about him was that his family was
very poor ... All I had heard about them was how poor they were, so that it had become impossible for
me to see them as anything else but poor. . This example effectively supports her thesis because it
shows that since she had only ever been told a single story of the boy s family, poverty, it was an
impossibility for her to see him and his family as anything else but poor. ... Show more content on

Adichie states: My American roommate was shocked by me. She asked where I had learned to speak
English so well ... She assumed that I did not know how to use a stove ... Her default position toward
me, as an African, was a kind of patronizing, well meaning pity. My roommate had a single story of
Africa: a single story of catastrophe. In this single story, there was no possibility of Africans being
similar to her in any way, no possibility of feelings more complex than pity, no possibility of a
connection as human equals. . This example effectively supports her thesis because it shows that since
her roommate had only ever been told a single story of Africa, catastrophe, that it was an impossibility
for her to see Adichie as an equal to her, and it was an impossibility for her to see Africa as a place
similar to America, or a place that had anything other than

Persuasive Speech On Suicide
Suicide opening weekend! Well guys here it is the movie that s been the topic since last year, its
finally hitting our theater this weekend. I am sure a lot of us are excited and lets be honest our
superhero movies do bring the money. I just want to point out a couple of things so that we can have a
smooth weekend and leave with good money in our pockets. 1. Communication; we have definitely
improved a lot on this, teams that communicate make money, but not only communicate with your
team mates, don t forget about the runners they can do simple stuff like run a sauce or a refill on fly,
and also if you need a manager please know your zone managers, and call them, of course if they are
busy i am sure another manager/supervisor will be able to assist you. ... Show more content on

Pre Authorization; yes i know most of the handhelds don t do it, all of the iPads can swipe cards so
take advantage of that we all know how awesome it feels to have almost an entire theater cc d. Team
leaders make sure you remind your team members about pre authorizing cards. 3. Pre buzzing; yes i
know we talk about this in every preshift, suicide squad is a 2hr plus movie there will be plenty of
time to do some clean up for the guest, we all know the benefits of doing this i am sure i don t have to
type it out. i know the first 30 40 mins into the movie will be chaotic but try to keep the landings clear,
remove drink holders and trays. Theaters 1,2,5,8,9 try and use the landings on the other side of the exit
door, so that we don t crowd the front with food and drinks. 4. 9 steps of service, very important to

Lincoln And Darwin Analysis
Gopnik s primary message in this essay is what Lincoln and Darwin have in common with us today.
Modern society is based on scientific reasoning and democratic politics.
Darwin was born in a comfortable family home, nicely named Monte, that still stands in the leafy
English countryside of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. It was the fifth of the six children, born into comfort
but to a family that was far from safe with a long history of free thinking and radical beliefs. Lincoln
was born in a hut of nameless, long lost cabin in the Kentucky woods. He was the second of three,
born to a poor farmer, Thomas Lincoln.
They were family men, loved their wives and lived for their children. Darwin was rich but he still
wanted his children to be involved in

Analysis Of The Article When Brothers Share A Wife By...
Polygamy continues to be frowned upon greatly in the United States despite the recent steps toward
legalizing different marriage arrangements and polygamy s attempt to go mainstream with television
shows that give the outside world an inside view of their lifestyle. In Tibet, however, polyandry (a
form of polygamy) has been a part of the culture for as long as anyone can remember and does not
seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In the article, When Brothers Share a Wife by Melvyn C.
Goldstein, polyandry is explored in all aspects, including age, dynamics, and purpose.
The author begins by setting the stage with a single case where a man, Dorje, is set to marry a woman
who will also be marrying his two brothers, Pema and Sonam. This one case example is used
throughout the article to support various points on the subject. Goldstein moves right into defining
fraternal polyandry as a marriage of two or more brothers marrying one woman who then moves into
the family home. Like other cultures, this marriage is typically arranged with the persons who are
marrying having little to no say in the decision. The actual marriage ceremony differs depending on
income and location factors.
Goldstein then flows into the dynamics of authority and familial relations, as these are one of the first
topics people speculate about. It is shared that the oldest brother is typically the dominant brother but
everything from work to the wife is shared equally in all ways. The question of how the

Edgar Lee Masters Research Paper
Edgar Lee Masters was born on August 23, 1868 in Garnett, Kansas. His parents were Emma Jershua
Masters and Hardin Wallace Masters. He grew up in the western Illinois farmlands of Petersburg and
Lewiston, where his grandparents had settled in the 1820s. He went to school in both Petersburg and
Lewiston, but graduated from Lewiston High School. He spent a year at a college preparatory school
hoping to gain admission to Knox College (Lewis; Primeau). Instead of continuing with college,
Lewis claims that Masters, spent a year in Galesburg writing poetry and reading everything he could
get his hands on. Masters father was concerned with his interest in literature and made him return
home and work in his law office (Lewis). Once Masters returned home, he worked as a clerk in his
father s law office and had a brief partnership with him. In 1891, Masters was admitted to the Illinois
Bar and became an attorney (Lewis). That same year, he moved to Chicago and worked as a bill
collector. In 1893, he formed a partnership with Kickham Scanlan. In 1898, he married Helen Jenkin

3rd Grade Bilingual Education Curriculum
Over the years data has become a major part of school starting in pre kindergarten. Evaluations
happen every day in school. The only thing that make a different is when and what type. Is the
evaluation given after instruction daily or just after a unit? Next, what happens with the data from the
evaluation? Are the standards retaught or is it just time to move to the next unit? Being a teacher it is
baffling how you can teach a whole lesson and only half if that many of your students understood. The
concerning point is that you re not only responsible for the half that understand. You are also
responsible for the half that didn t understand. After teaching for so many years now I have noticed
there is not a perfect class. With knowing this when teachers receive bad test results on an assessment
they should ask their selves the same questions. Why do they not understand and what can I do
differently? However, these are the question that the teacher is being ... Show more content on

Persuasive Essay On Forest Fires
Forest fires are not uncommon in the west coast but rising temperatures and global climate change
have been leading to drier and drier seasons in many areas, making wildfires a growing concern. The
west coast has both the largest number of wildfires as well as the most severe, starting from 100 acres
and above (Donegan, 2016). Southern California is a frequent location for wildfires each year due to
its dry weather and hot temperatures during the summer, and the Santa Clarita region alone has had a
20% reduction in soil moisture. The effects of the reduction of soil moisture has led to concerning
forest fire events such as the Sand Fire in 2016 and also the invasion of Pine Bark Beetles. Events like
these can be incredibly dangerous to both nature and to the human population. Although difficult to
prevent because forest fires can happen naturally when temperatures rise, especially during summers,
there are still many strategies people can follow in order to prevent fires in local forests (Wildland
Fire, n.d.). We will also explore some benefits wildfires can bring to the ecosystem.
General Info
Wildfires can originate from a match, a cigarette bud, or a campfire and can have devastating effects
on the surrounding wildlife and human population as well. About 90% of wildfires are the cause of
human error (Wildland Fire, n.d.). Wind, temperature, and humidity can have a large effect on how
long a forest fire lasts, the direction, and how intense it can become (Wildland Fire,

Winter Wheat Research Paper
Stichler and Livingston (1999) previously stated that a major advantage of winter wheat compared
with other small grain species that could be grown for winter forage production is its excellent
tolerance to abiotic stresses including cold and drought. In addition, wheat forage has relatively high
nutritive values including high protein, energy values, minerals, and low fiber concentrations,
compared with barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), oat (Avena sativa L.), and rye (Secale cereale L.)
forages. Generally, forage yield of winter wheat from late November to early March is more consistent
and productive than that of the other species (Denman and Arnold, 1970; Watson et al., 1993). Bockus
et al. (2001) and Watson et al. (1993) mentioned that susceptibility of winter wheat to Hessian fly
[Mayetiola destructor (Say)], leaf rust (incited by Puccinia triticina), and several virus diseases could
be obstacles for successful winter forage production, especially in early planted regions. ... Show more

Examples Of Dystopia In The Hunger Games
The chosen utopia is a political utopia that described in the novel The Hunger Games written by the
American author Suzanne Collins. Utopia means a nowhere land , and its concept alludes to some
imaginary paradisiacal places where human beings are living under a desired environment. This kind
of ideal society with everything perfect can be found in Edward Bellamy s Looking Backward and
William Morris s News from Nowhere . Dystopia, on the other hand, is a world in which nothing is
perfect such as 1984 by George Orwell and We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. The concept of political utopia
was originally developed by Richard Saage. According to him, political utopia provides an ideal
commonwealth that characterised by its distinctive criticism of reality, its rational and comprehensible
design, which is universally applicable. In this essay, I will posit the political utopia in The Hunger
Games as a dystopia and elaborate the universally applicable utopia or dystopia is non existent and

Honesty In The End
Everything will be okay in the end. If it s not okay, it s not the End. John Lennon The Quote above
says that everything will be fine at the right time or when someone has been fulfil his goals in life.
Like stories in the books or movies it only end when the character resolve all the problems his been
facing all the time. But when the story add another problem it means that the story is not yet been
done and should be continue until it find its way to be done. It also means like whatever happens in
your life, don t give up until you can reach your goal. Don t stop even you fail after all it s not yet the
end. As we grow older there are lot of things happens in our life, there are lot of problem that
challenge us to see how far can we go, how long can we endure it. In this quote tells us that no matter
what happens we should stand still and continue what we started to do. Sometimes we fail but it s not

Most people like to think that they have all the time in the world to make plans for how their
belongings will be distributed when they pass. However, that is not always the case. If you just had a
close family member or loved one pass away who did not have a will, here is a general overview of
what will happen to their belongs or their estate.
What Is An Estate?
Oftentimes, the word estate can be confusing. Many people associate the word estate with property
and significant financial resources; however, you don t have to be a millionaire to leave behind an
estate. Essentially, any belongings that a person leaves behind after they pass, be it $1,000 in savings
and a car, or four houses and a million dollars, it all falls under the category ... Show more content on

The probate process varies a little from state to state, but is essentially the legal process that all states
follow to determine what happens to someone s estate whether or not they have a will when they pass
away.
What Is The First Step Of The Probate Process?
Since your loved one passed away without a will, the local probate court where your loved one resided
will assign someone to be what is commonly known as the administrator or personal representative for
your loved one s estate.
The court generally picks someone who would natural inherit the estate. For example, if your husband
died, you would likely be appointed the administrator. Or if your uncle died, was unmarried and had
no children, either his parents, siblings or nieces or nephews would be put in charge of his estate,
generally in that order.
What Happens After An Administrator Is Appointed?
Once an administrator is appointed, they have multiple duties that they have to fulfill. To start with,
they have to go through and figure out what outstanding expenses the deceased had, such as loans and
unpaid bills. These are the first things that any money they left will go towards

A New approach to SCM
Today getting a product to the right market at right time is not a big deal but when we are thinking
about thousands for SKUs , components, suppliers , and manufacturing partners , logistic partners in
eight different time zone is not a easiest task. Mobility, Collaboration and transportation are not so
easy and it s hard to achieve the profit from your global supply chain. It s time to make your supply
chain flexible and open to all. Let your supply chain to be customer driven, connected, risk managed,

Introduction Innovations in computer processing, data storage, analytics software coupled with
reduced costs have contributed to the emergence of big data as a mainstay in the world of Information
Technology. It is no secret that businesses have been looking for ways to parse and effectively convert
the vast amounts the data they ve been able to collect since technology has allowed them to do so.
However, until recently, that has proven either too expensive or arduous of a process. Peter Sloot, in a
call for papers referring to this very topic addresses what is known as the Big Data problem,
Such Data Explosions has led to one of the most challenging research issues of the current
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) era: how to effectively and optimally manage such
large amount of data and identify new ways to analyze large amounts of data for unlocking
information. The issue is also known as the Big Data problem, which is defined as the practice of
collecting complex data sets so large that it becomes difficult to analyze and interpret manually or
using on hand data management applications. From the perspective of real world applications, the Big
Data problem has also become a common phenomenon in domain of science, medicine, engineering,
and commerce
With emerging analytic capabilities, however, businesses are able to use the data to better predict,

Climate Change and the Contribution of Agribusiness
Student s Name Professor s Name Course title May 18, 2013 Climate Change and the Contribution of
Agribusiness Western countries have become highly dependent on petroleum products to grow and
process the food needed to support the nutritional requirements of its citizens. Gasoline and diesel
fuels are needed to fertilize, till, plant, and control pests until the crops reach maturity (Prasad).
Petroleum fuels are needed to bring agriculture products to food manufacturers and markets.
Fertilizers, modified seeds, and pest control rely heavily on petroleum products. If petroleum
fertilizers alone were eliminated, the yield per acre for corn alone would fall by 433%. What most
people fail to realize is that the loss of fossil fuels would be devastating to contemporary farming
methods, because renewable energy cannot substitute for the organic chemicals derived from oil and
natural gas. Aside from the scary petroleum dependence of western agriculture methods there is also
the contribution that farming makes to global warming. The top four producers of greenhouse gas
emissions in the U.S. are the electric power plants (33.5%), transportation (27.7%), industry (18.6%),
and agriculture (8.2%) (Takle). The largest contributor to agriculture greenhouse gas emissions is
fertilizer (61%), which is produced using ammonia from natural gas. By comparison, the burning of
fuels to power machinery represents only 7% of the greenhouse gases produced by farming. The

Explain How Is Iago A Sociopath
Raya Tarawneh
5/3/16
Is Iago a Sociopath? One of Shakespeare s most acclaimed works, Othello, delves into a wide range of
themes. The play tackles issues of race, gender and encompasses ideas of jealousy and deceit.
Shakespeare also brings to life a variety of well constructed characters. Iago, the deceitful antagonist,
can easily be identified as the liveliest and most complex character in the play. His devious nature
raises the question of whether or not he is a sociopath. Sociopathy is a mental disorder in which an
individual s moral depravity poses a threat to society. The Psychopathy Checklist, commonly known
as the PCL, constructed a list of criteria used to diagnose sociopaths. These criteria vary from
irresponsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The PCL refers to sociopaths as having superficial charm and glibness , both of which Iago possesses.
When asked by Othello to recap the events of the quarrel, Iago says I had rather have this tongue cut
from my mouth/ Then it should do offence to Michael Cassio (2.3.205 206). In saying so, Iago comes
off to Othello as both honest and loyal, most definitely charming him and covering up the fact that it
was Iago himself who intentionally set up the quarrel in order to become lieutenant. In document A,
conning others for personal profit or pleasure is said to be usual of sociopaths. This is easily
applicable to Iago s character, who for the sake of becoming lieutenant and destroying Othello,
manages to deceive several characters in the play and ends up being the cause of Roderigo,
Desdemona, Emilia and Othello s deaths. Once again, placing Iago and Ani Korban side by side
affirms Iago s sociopathy. Ani Korban praises his psychiatrist by referring to him/her as one of the
most astute and erudite persons he has ever met . Immediately after saying so, Korban requests a
favor: to have access to a payphone. Evidently, he also has the ability to charm others and, similar to
Iago, uses this superficial charm for his own personal

people consider them to be the way to the find the truth of life. India is place of diversity,

but it is perceived to be moving same in the case of ATMAN and mind, the mind moves ,not the
ATMAN. The mind is centered on many thoughts and its concentration keeps on shifting. It is
also mentioned in the Upanishad that the ATMAN is out of the reach of all the senses and is
faster from all of them . As it is written in the Upanishad:
It moves, and it moves not. It is far, and it is near. It is inside all this, and also outside all this.

It makes us through the realization that if we aren t able to recognize the self; we are living in
blind darkness. The foremost motto of life is to get acquainted with oneself, which will further
open the doors to wisdom and eternal peace. We should not live the life of ignorance especially
the life where we ignore ourselves, the life where we just mimic others not perceiving our own
needs. As we will scrutinize the Upanishads, we will get to know more about ATMAN. The
Isavasyopanishad also conveys the message of seeing the self in everything and everyone.
Henceforth it says to treat everyone with love and the way we expect others to treat us.

Good Night And Good Luck And The Crucible Analysis
What is the main source of power? Well you probably already know the answer because of the title,
but it is fear and lying. Some may disagree but in the end we all have our opinions. Think of it this
way what controls people to do something they don t want to? The answer is fear. If someone was
threatening my family and had them captured, well the best option for me would have to be to comply
with them, because I would be afraid they might hurt my family.
The other source is lying to people. Lie to people and you just might have set fear into them. In Good
Night and Good Luck and The Crucible people who held power were mainly the people that set the
cluster of lies to unravel all the chain of events that made the story the way it was.
In addition to, the first source of power is fear. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Abigail Act 1)
Furthermore, the second source for power is dishonesty. Yes, lying with fear does tend to lead to
power. When senator McCarthy lies to the people and tells them they all these certain rules that
explain basically most of the things the people were doing were all meanings of communism. In The
Crucible however lying was the main half rather than fear. The group of girls all made the decision to
lie and act like they were involved with the devil.
In conclusion, Power is a very dangerous thing. I am not saying anyone that has it is evil, but what I
am saying is that listen to the movies and all the quotes that come from great minds. They all have one
similar agreement and that is power in the wrong hands is dangerous. As we have seen power with
senator McCarthy is bad and power with Abigail over the girls also ended up to being something

Ian Curtis was 23 years old when he hung himself in his home in Macclesfield, England. The events
that led to the singers death should have been warning signs of his plans, but his personality kept him
from receiving the help he desperately needed. Born on July 15th, 1956 in Manchester, England Ian
had a considerably normal childhood to follow. He had one little sister and his working class family
were very tightnit with other family members as well as each other. (Curtis 1995)Ian was a cheerful

of the illness took hold. (Curtis 1995) Ian was put on several anti seizure medications and his mood

Belgian journalist Annik Honore and the stress of carrying on both relationships caused his depression
to spiral and he made his first suicide attempt with notes concerning his two relationships. He took too
many of his seizure medications and was released with no talk of aftercare or psychological treatment
of any kind. Eleven months later he succeeded and it was his wife who noticed the signs and begged
him to get help. Ian s friends with whom he stayed his last weeks with stated that Ian would not leave

marriage and following another violent outburst towards his wife he hung himself after she left him

a result of his seizure disorder. Biological theorists view abnormal behavior as an illness brought
about by malfunctioning parts of the organism. (Comer 2011) Scientifically this theory could explain
several physiological reasons why Ian behaved the way he did, as

Although the word is often applied loosely, Puritan refers to two distinct groups: separating Puritans,
such as the Plymouth colonists, who believed that the Church of England was corrupt and that true
Christians must separate themselves from it; and non separating Puritans, such as the colonists who

Congregationalists who believed in forming churches through voluntary compacts. The idea of

Snakes are Infected with Ophidian Paramyxovirus Virus
Ophidian paramyxovirus is a virus that affects snakes, particularly in the family Viperidae; it
compromises the immune system, which can lead to mortality through secondary bacterial infections.
This negative sense, single stranded RNA virus infects the respiratory system and can be transmitted
through feces, respiratory tract secretions, fomites, or vectors such as mites; as such, in captivity, good
husbandry practices are critical to prevent transmission of this disease. Paramyxovirus is a viral
pathogen. The natural host and origin for this virus is unknown, but it is possible that it is not a viperid
(5). The first reported outbreak of paramyxovirus in snakes was in a group of Brazilian lancehead
vipers in a serpentarium in Switzerland (1). These vipers were originally from Brazil, so it is likely
that the origin of the virus is found in Brazil (5). The virus itself is an RNA virus consisting of a
filamentous particle enveloped in a spiked membrane, and can be between 140 and 321 nanometers in
diameter. The virus replicates at an optimal temperature of 30°C, so the disease is a particular concern
in colder seasons (3). This virus is easily transmitted between individuals, particularly when they are
housed close to each other. It is most often transmitted through respiratory secretions (2). It can also
be transmitted through aerosols, such as sputum, and oral and cloacal secretions. The virus may persist
in water and may be spread through feces. It can also be

Cardiovascular Disease Is The Number One Killer
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths
yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a
group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels,
which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement predicted
that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of Cardiovascular
disease by 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to the sedentary
population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of moderate intensity
physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly (Barry, Blair, Church,
Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these recommendations is linked with
lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of mortality. The Center for Disease Control
and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics
show that the majority of the United States population does not get nearly the amount of physical
activity they need. However, even though many people are not doing the recommended amount of
physical activity, this may not mean that they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is

The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry
Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more
people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This
mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is clothing [being
produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be
disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food. (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact
that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the
dark side of mass consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless
consumerism.
One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental
impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second
most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental
impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes,
and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually, (Scott). Some
of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. In fact, the World Health Organization reports

Capitalism During The Great Depression
For example, when a good is scarce, the prices goes up, so consumers try to avoid buying and
therefore conserving the resource. Then, the suppliers want to find more of the source as to get a better
profit. The reasons behind their actions are selfish, yet they benefit all of society. Smith identified that
the pursuit of profit and the power of self interest would increase motivation and result in more
advances in technology. His model of capitalism was on the basis of freedom and selfishness as a
motivator for society. It was also on the basis that the economy would go through recessions and
expansions but fix itself. Recessions are periods in the economy in which unemployment goes up,
while profits and spending goes down; a slowdown of the economy. An expansion is essentially the
exact opposite. The classical model of economics states that the economy will continue to go through
these fluctuations over time and will fix itself with no help, thus not needing a government to give
influence. Eventually, however, The Great Depression happened, and there was no end in sight of the
dramatic recession. The Great Depression was a widespread crash of the market that happened in 1929
and lasted well into the 1930 s. For a long time, no one knew why it had happened or when it would
be over. Often considered capitalism s savior, John Maynard Keynes noticed the lengthy depression
and realized that something was causing it to be stuck. He thought that the economy was not going to

The Family Of A Family
Introduction
A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption,
step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly weds
without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings
living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of many
variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure that
children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other
family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of place
and position in the society.
Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of federation,
families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2 nuclear families (A
family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their biological or adopted

The figure of speech and descriptions mentioned in this article unfold a fractional account regarding
the genesis of the international adoption and portray themselves as confirmation of the US familial
dominance and compassion. The chronicle of the Holts and their eight biracial Korean children is
considered to be a prodigy amongst the adoptee society. It tempts us to believe the substantial
circumstances and affinity attachments as of which biracial children were extorted. Most of the
adoptees that were viciously hauled out from their unique relation, but, have been brought up obsessed
by the worries of their societal bereavement, as

Comparison Between Hard Rock And Postmodernism
Sociology Nate McDonald
Between a Hard Rock and Postmodernism 9/17/12
I. What is the sociological question?
What are the features of postmodern spaces? II. What is the analytical approach?
Borchard s approach at the opening of the Hard Rock was a participant observation approach.
Borchard wanted to get into the Hard Rock Café the opening night is Las Vegas because he wanted to
part of the concert, and the once in a lifetime experience like everyone else in line. The line expanded
around the 75ft spectacle of the Gibson guitar. Like everyone else, Borchard wanted to be a part of the
grand opening to the most iconic and well known Rock and Roll hot spot now known. Borchard was
looking to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The world is depending less and less on the individual and wants people to be more like society to fit
in and be how the bigger picture sees it, they want people to be seen as the famous people are and
rebel or look a certain way. If a normal man tried to get into the Hard Rock concert (like the blonde
man s friend) they were denied because their look wasn t right for the concert and wouldn t be
acceptable. Another man that Borchard talked to showed a way that society changed. It s called a
microwave relationship and that was when the man just opened up and told Borchard his entire life
story and he has never met the man before in his life. The man talked about his whole crappy life to
Borchard but he didn t care, he wasn t interested but this proved another point of his. In the
postmodern world people are becoming more and more open with complete strangers. In result the
things in the world weren t lasting people couldn t keep secrets people just rambled on about anything
and everything from their own lives even to others, and didn t think twice about it. The new
postmodern world was departing from morals and individual expectations to gossip and looks. People
now want to know and are willing to tell, people are not individuals but seem to stray towards the
actions of those who society now says we should act like. The things in the world are

War Essay
Weird silence filled the air. It was a cold and relatively peaceful night on January 2005. Almost all
citizens hid in their rooms to protect themselves from the war. The sky was completely dark with no
light on streets. All of a sudden, the dark silent night was put to an end as six year old Samar Hassan
was screaming and crying. A car was approaching in the dark when several American soldiers were
patrolling a main road of northern Iraq s Tal Afar which was a town rife with insurgents. Concerning
that the vehicle might carry insurgents and suicide bombs, the soldiers began to flash lights and waved
arms to indicate the car to stop. However, the Hassans didn t see the sign but kept driving forwards.
After receiving a command from an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thousands of Iraqis suffer from the pain and trauma caused by the war, but the story of Samar again
stands out. Rakan, Samar s brother, was hit by a bullet in his spin which was the most vulnerable part
of our body. He was seriously wounded in the tragedy, and he was sent to Boston for treatment after
Hondros s photos were published. Although Rakan was fortunate enough to survive from the tragedy,
he was again haunted by death. Rakan died three years after their parents s death when an insurgent
attack badly bombing the house where they live in.
* * * I remember the first time when my older sister left our family to study aboard for such a long
time. It was a normal night dinner was served at 6:30, everyone took their own seat except there was a
weird silence during dinner. No one would like to talk but have dinner quietly. I knew that my older
sister cried when she said goodbye to us at the airport. It was her and also mine fist time being apart
from each other in 17 years. On our way back home, my older sister texted us to read the letter that
she hid in the car. I didn t read the letter until I locked my room s door. In the letter, my sister
reminded me that I was the one who should take care of both my parent and little brother now. Also,
she told me that she trusted me I could do it and she would always be there if I need any help. I cried.
I cried so hard. But I could not make any noise so

The Cultural Landscape Of Asian And Latin American Countries
Abstract
Street markets have always been a significant aspect of the cultural landscape of Asian and Latin
American countries such as China, Thailand, India, Brazil and Mexico. These markets become
creators of vital public space and with time, through their actions, appropriate loose space and make a
permanent place for themselves in the collective memory of people, eventually contributing to the
cultural identity of these neighborhoods. Yet, this potential of markets to become successful and
vibrant social spaces and a solution to the class divided hierarchical cities of today, is often not
acknowledged or accepted by civic authorities. The State s policy towards these street markets in
developing countries has largely been to eliminate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Informal Markets: Creators of Public Space
Public Markets play a central role in the formation of public culture and have an articulated
relationship with space and society. They morphologically shape space and also shape social networks
and economic systems. A large share of market not absorbed by formal economic activities becomes a
part of the informal market. It also represents a significant percentage of the national economy, and
guarantees jobs to a large number of people. They are rather a sign of heroic entrepreneurship
(Hernando de Soto 2000), or of informal survivalism as (Mike David 2004) puts it, a primarily mode
of livelihood in majority of the Third World countries. Through their act of an informalized production
of space, they maximize limited space or create space where no space exists in commercially viable
prime locations, thereby creating an economic opportunity out of it and social space as a by product.
While market places fulfil economic considerations, by providing an alternative means of livelihoods
to millions, they also perform an indispensable social function by becoming communal spaces, giving
life to neighborhoods. Overtime, they become an intrinsic part of the cultural landscape of any
neighborhood or city and become places of social gathering at the street level. They act as a catchment
area for a community, and provide food, entertainment and social interaction and hence, they

How Did The Taliban s Struggle
On April 2nd, 2018, in the Dasht e Archi District of Afghanistan, the Afghan Air Force, their motives
completely different, targeted a group of Taliban elders, and started an air strike, resulting in many
casualties and deaths. The Afghan government initially blamed the Taliban for this tragic event,
resulting in 250 casualties, fifty nine of them being killed, and the other one hundred and twenty being
severely injured, and whisked away to be helped. It is tragedies such as this one that make people
wonder about the Taliban s whereabouts today, especially since the time of their overthrow since
2001.

Pakistan has been involved with the Taliban organization since their founding, and from the major
support that they have given them, it can be considered that they had made the basis of most of their
attacks. The Taliban leader and founder, Mullah Omar, had been trained in Pakistan to fight the Soviet
Union out of Afghanistan. Since then, their government had been aiding Omar and his party s
missions in the most major and trivial ways. The oil that was used to power the Taliban war machines
was from Pakistan. After the Taliban s capture of Kandahar, and the transformation of Afghanistan
into the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under their rule, the bond between the two countries. Tensions
rose with the creation of the Durand line, where Pakistan supported this ideal, and the Afghanistan
Taliban did not, saying Islamic brothers should not be separated. The topple of the Islamic Emirate of
Afghanistan caused for some of Omar s army to go home and completely give up, while others fled to
their Pakistan. Omar, during his exile to Baluchistan, himself was rebuilding the Taliban army, and
they are still getting larger and larger to date. It is the refuge that Pakistan had provided for the
runaway Taliban after Kandahar s fall that causes people now to blame for their rumored
reconstruction of the organization. Since 2001, even Pakistanis lives are

Starbucks Case Study Report
Starbucks: The Coffee Shop Company
Darrell Jones, Earnest Workmen, Amanda Anguiano
Brenau University Starbucks: The Coffee Company
The Original Starbucks
This report is on the Starbucks coffee shop company. Starbucks was founded around 45 years ago in
1971. Its first store was located at 2000 Western Avenue in Seattle, Washington until 1976, when it
moved its operations to Pike Place Market, Elliott Bay, Seattle, Washington, U.S. where they began
selling espresso coffee in 1986. The three founders Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl and Gordon Bowker
were former students of the University of San Francisco. Their plan was to sell high quality coffee
beans and roasting equipment. They did not know at the onset the company would become so
successful.
In 1987 Howard Schultz took the opportunity to purchase the company from the original owners. He
then set his goals on opening new outlets outside Seattle. By the year 1989, the popularity for
Starbucks increased and Schultz was under pressure to open more stores to cash in on the public
demand. Soon, Starbucks increased its stores to more than 135 outlets and was earning up to 72
million dollars. This was the same year Schultz placed Starbucks ... Show more content on

purchased Torrefzione Italia a Seattle s Best coffee for 72 million and opened up an additional 150
stores. In 2007, Starbucks opened its doors in Russia. Starbucks then purchased the Teavana Company

The Importance Of A Formal Diagnosis Of Bdd
Data Collection The first step in my data collection will be to recruit participants. Because my study
aspires to get to the lived experience of what it is like to live with BDD, I need to choose participants
who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, this phenomenon. This will require I utilize
criterion based sampling, meaning the population sample will have characteristics relevant to my
research question (Creswell, 2012). Therefore, my task will be to find and select participants who will
be chosen on the basis of a formal diagnosis of BDD, as confirmed through their diagnosing clinician.
In order to do so, I will place advertisements on relevant social media sites, BDD Internet support
group websites, as well as other fitting locations I discover during my process. Prior to placing said
ads, I will be sure to obtain any necessary approval in order to adhere to ethical standards. Once the
prospective participants express interest, I will electronically send an invitation to participate, which
will include an introduction to the research, as well as consent and contact sheets. When participants
agree to participate, paper copies will be mailed to them. After receipt of signed consent and contact
forms, I will contact the clinicians designated on the consent forms in order to obtain a confirmation
of the participants BDD diagnosis prior to beginning. In regard to sample size, I cannot predict the
exact amount of participants I will need for my

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cardiovascular Disease
Picture this, one bright afternoon a mother and daughter are having a calm, relaxing day in their local
park. They come across a park bench and decide to sit down. Soon thereafter the mother begins to
clutch her chest in agony. The pain of having her daughter watch her agony must have been even more
excrutiating. She is fully involved in her first ever heart attack. Unlike sudden cardiac arrest, this
woman was experiencing a myocardial infarction. The mother was walking, talking and conscious
even despite the horrific symptoms that occurred on that horrible day (Hamrick). So don t let this ever

This allows the heart to beat slower and more efficiently to keep blood pressure under control(Moore,
Kristine). Some individuals might not have the extra time to do the recommended amount of aerobic
activity. Those people should ask themselves, do they have time to have a heart attack?
Another activity that takes up time is eating. Growing up, children are taught to eat three square meals
a day. That s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A study done by the United States Department of
Agriculture found that on an average day between 2006 08, Americans age 15 or older spend 67
minutes just eating and drinking. They also found that Americans spend 86.5 minutes eating while
multi tasking. That means that the majority of the times that people spend eating, they are distracted
by other things and not focused on what they eat. Becoming hearth healthy also requires a diet that is
high in fiber and antioxidants. Foods that are quick to eat on the go such as candy bars or potato chips
are the exact opposite of what should be eaten. These foods can be detrimental to heart health. Foods
that are high in sugar, sodium, trans fats, and ultimately calories are the absolute worst choices to
make. However, these foods are the easiest and cheapest to get on the run and that s why many people
aren t heart healthy. What people should do is carefully watch what they put into

Ida B. Wells Barnett
During the American Progressive Era, generally regarded as the late 1800s and early 1900s, many
ideals were changing among the American people. During this period, which closely followed the end
of the civil war, there was an especially great amount of change in what was considered an appropriate
way of conducting oneself, especially if one happened to be a black woman. Ida B. Wells Barnett, an
African American activist who was particularly outspoken on the inhumanity and barbarism of public
lynching, can be used as an excellent primary source exemplifying how black women in the
progressive era felt that they were expected to be presented. As well as identifying the roles and
visions of women in this period, Ida B. Wells Barnett is an example of a women who broke many
barriers, exceeding the limitations put on her by the social constructs of her race and gender.
During this period in American history there were strong views held by the majority of society about
how black women were supposed to conduct themselves. There was a strong patriarchal dominance
over black women, with the subordinance of women being greatly influenced by the remnants of
slavery. Since men were so fiercely controlled during slavery, often not allowed much contact with
their families, and very strict regulations surrounding their sexual relationships with their wives, much
of the masculinity of the men seemed to be stripped away by their masters. After being freed, many
black men felt the need to

Forensic Investigation
3.) It has been estimated that up to 40 percent of the science shown on CSI does not exist (Klein,
2004). CSI makes it seem as though forensic tests are invariably accurate and never spoiled by
pollution, mistakes in laboratories, or prejudiced explanations; problems that impair actual forensic
science (Risinger et al., 2002) Furthermore, Professor Houck states that CSI incorrectly depicts
forensic science as this juggernaut of infallibility (Leonard, 2005). In essence, what he is saying in his
complaint is that crime shows are misleading jurors and tainting jurors with impractical standards for
forensic science. By witnessing court cases constructed on forensic evidence on T.V. , jurors may
assume that court cases are constructed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This research makes clear that there are close relationships between the condition of the economy, the
media s portrayal of this condition, and people s opinions about the economy. Put simply: The media
play an important role in shaping public opinion about the economy. This has been well established in
the literatures on public opinion and political communication (e.g., Blood and Phillips 1995, 1997;
Boomgaarden et al. 2011; De Boef and Kellstedt 2004; Glynn, Huge, and Hoffman 2008; Goidel et al.
2010); it has been illustrated in work by economists as well (e.g., Carroll 2003; Doms and Morin
2004; Hollanders and Vliegenthart 2011). Additionally, the political importance of the effects of media
coverage on public opinion is made readily clear in the literatures (cited above) on policy preferences

Advanced Procurement And Dispute Resolution
Advanced Procurement And Dispute Resolution (CW 2)
Within this piece of coursework I will explain and compare various dispute resolution options that are
used within the construction industry. The commonly used options that I will be going into further
detail are mediation, adjudication, litigation and arbitration. These options will then be evaluated, and
then explained of when they should be used. These four options are commonly used within the
construction industry to resolve legal arguments that have arisen from various disputes.
Mediation is commonly used within the construction industry when a dispute between parties arises,
and legal action is needed. Being used as a consensual process of dispute resolution, in which a third

Where in the process Evaluative mediation is used, the initial mediator will learn all of the facts of the
case which has been brought forward. After reviewing the case, the mediator will then express their
views on the overall merits as they can see them. Conciliation may initially be a form of evaluative
mediation, for example if the conciliator does not reach a settlement acting in facilitative mode, then a
recommendation evaluating how, with their views the overall matter should be resolved. Advantages
and disadvantages of mediation are as follows;
 Quick (Carried out in days)
 Cost Effective
 Flexible process
 Relatively informal
Disadvantages;
 Does not always result in a settlement agreement
 Legal precedent cannot be set in mediation
 Mediation has no formal discovery process
Adjudication is a statutory or contractual procedure for quick interim dispute resolution. Adjudication
is provided a third party adjudicator which is commonly selected by the parties. Adjudicators can

  • 2. The Origin Of The Clarinet In The 1600 s The origination of the clarinet began in the 1600 s. It was an improved version of the Chalumeau the first narrow reed instrument. The difference between the two instruments was that, the clarinet now had two extra keys, and it contained a higher range by over two octaves! He also invented a better mouthpiece, and a slightly improved bell. 1690, the clarinet was created. It is known to be a single reed woodwind instrument with a cylindrical tube . All the credit for this creation goes to Johann Christopher Denver and his son Jacob Denver. Nuremberg, Germany was the location where the clarinet was made. Even though the Clarinet came to existence in 1690, it took many decades afterwards for it be finalized. Towards the end of the 1700 s, the clarinet met new designs and features. The cut holes, where we cover our fingers with, was experimented on many times. They needed to see which shape and size had the best effect, in terms of sound. After the cut holes were mastered, notes became an issue to create. But, with the help of Iwan Mutters 13 keyed model everything was falling together. Furthermore, the fingering system developed by Theobald Boehm was adapted to the clarinet. This system is best known as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as time passed many famous artist like, Christopher Gluck, Georg Telemann, and Jean Philippe Rameau, featured them in their musical pieces. The clarinets ability to blend in with other instruments caused an attraction to composers. They loved how the instrument had such nice multi talents . The clarinets first big step forward was due to Wolfgang Mozart. He brought the clarinet to real life by penning a clarinet concerto. A concerto is a musical composition for a solo instrument or instruments accompanied by an orchestra, especially one conceived on a relatively large scale . Standard treatment for acute deep vein thrombosis consists of initial parenteral heparin with co administration and followed use of vitamin K antagonists. However, vitamin K antagonists need to be monitored due to a high risk of bleeding. EINSTEIN Study GENERAL STUDY OVERVIEW Oral Rivaroxaban for Symptomatic Venous Thromboembolism Bayer Schering Pharma and Ortho McNeil Rivaroxavan is not effective as a treatment for acute deep vein thrombosis or acute pulmonary embolism The Acute DVT Study is a randomized, open label study, which is appropriate because the study is comparing ... Patient demographics are reported as well, and the authors provide a useful table with basic patient information including age, weight, gender, and renal function. There are some very miniscule differences in groups for both studies, but these differences should not affect the results because of randomization. The trial results are reported in percentages of event occurrence in a population. While these are useful in understanding the frequency of harmful effects or successful treatment, a surrogate measurement and use of INR measurements may provide a better idea of the extent of safety or efficacy. In the Acute DVT Study, the primary efficacy endpoint occurred in 2.1% of rivaroxaban patients and in 3.0% of standard therapy patients (Hazard ratio 0.68; 95% CI 0.44 to 1.04; P 0.001 for non inferiority with a one sided test, and P = 0.08 for superiority with a two sided test). The principal safety endpoint of clinically significant bleeding occurred in 8.1% of rivaroxaban patients and in 8.1% of standard therapy patients (hazard ratio with rivaroxaban 0.97; 95% CI 0.76 to 1.22; P = ... • 4. The Progressive Tax System Of The United States Essay There is an issue that has plagued the United States even prior to the founding of the nation. That issue is fair taxation. While the American Colonists were being taxed unfairly without parliamentary representation, average modern Americans are being taxed unfairly without legal representation. Some hold the belief that the progressive tax code employed by the United States to be fair as the wealthy pay a higher marginal tax rate. The operative word there being marginal. As the upper class typically has a much lower effective tax rate since they are able to afford tax attorneys who are able to find many deductions that average citizens are unaware of. Mitt Romney is a prime example of low effective rates of taxation. According to CNN Money, Mitt Romney made twenty one million dollars in one year, but only paid an effective rate of fifteen percent, which is much lower than the rate he should be paying. The progressive tax system is one that is littered with loopholes, but those are only known to those with the means to search them out as the federal tax code spans seventy thousand of pages of convoluted text. Not even the highest paid tax accountants will ever read anywhere near the full volume of tax laws. By the tax code being as long as it is, few are able to reap the full benefits of the tax code. The level of complicated text is not the only major issue with the federal tax code. Another issue with the tax code of the United States is the inability to separate ... • 5. What Is The Theme Of The Danger Of A Single Story The TED Talk The Danger of a Single Story by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie talks about how a single story can leave a permanent impression on the recipient about a certain topic. This can cause an impossibility for the recipient to see the topic as anything else but how the author portrayed it. One example of this thesis that Adichie used was from her childhood. Adichie states: So, the year I turned eight, we got a new house boy ... The only thing my mother told us about him was that his family was very poor ... All I had heard about them was how poor they were, so that it had become impossible for me to see them as anything else but poor. . This example effectively supports her thesis because it shows that since she had only ever been told a single story of the boy s family, poverty, it was an impossibility for her to see him and his family as anything else but poor. ... She assumed that I did not know how to use a stove ... Her default position toward me, as an African, was a kind of patronizing, well meaning pity. My roommate had a single story of Africa: a single story of catastrophe. In this single story, there was no possibility of Africans being similar to her in any way, no possibility of feelings more complex than pity, no possibility of a connection as human equals. . This example effectively supports her thesis because it shows that since her roommate had only ever been told a single story of Africa, catastrophe, that it was an impossibility for her to see Adichie as an equal to her, and it was an impossibility for her to see Africa as a place similar to America, or a place that had anything other than ... • 7. Lincoln And Darwin Analysis Gopnik s primary message in this essay is what Lincoln and Darwin have in common with us today. Modern society is based on scientific reasoning and democratic politics. Darwin was born in a comfortable family home, nicely named Monte, that still stands in the leafy English countryside of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. It was the fifth of the six children, born into comfort but to a family that was far from safe with a long history of free thinking and radical beliefs. Lincoln was born in a hut of nameless, long lost cabin in the Kentucky woods. He was the second of three, born to a poor farmer, Thomas Lincoln. • 8. Analysis Of The Article When Brothers Share A Wife By... Polygamy continues to be frowned upon greatly in the United States despite the recent steps toward legalizing different marriage arrangements and polygamy s attempt to go mainstream with television shows that give the outside world an inside view of their lifestyle. In Tibet, however, polyandry (a form of polygamy) has been a part of the culture for as long as anyone can remember and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. In the article, When Brothers Share a Wife by Melvyn C. Goldstein, polyandry is explored in all aspects, including age, dynamics, and purpose. The author begins by setting the stage with a single case where a man, Dorje, is set to marry a woman who will also be marrying his two brothers, Pema and Sonam. This one case example is used throughout the article to support various points on the subject. Goldstein moves right into defining fraternal polyandry as a marriage of two or more brothers marrying one woman who then moves into the family home. Like other cultures, this marriage is typically arranged with the persons who are marrying having little to no say in the decision. The actual marriage ceremony differs depending on income and location factors. Goldstein then flows into the dynamics of authority and familial relations, as these are one of the first topics people speculate about. It is shared that the oldest brother is typically the dominant brother but everything from work to the wife is shared equally in all ways. The question of how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. 3rd Grade Bilingual Education Curriculum Over the years data has become a major part of school starting in pre kindergarten. Evaluations happen every day in school. The only thing that make a different is when and what type. Is the evaluation given after instruction daily or just after a unit? Next, what happens with the data from the evaluation? Are the standards retaught or is it just time to move to the next unit? Being a teacher it is baffling how you can teach a whole lesson and only half if that many of your students understood. The concerning point is that you re not only responsible for the half that understand. You are also responsible for the half that didn t understand. After teaching for so many years now I have noticed there is not a perfect class. The west coast has both the largest number of wildfires as well as the most severe, starting from 100 acres and above (Donegan, 2016). Southern California is a frequent location for wildfires each year due to its dry weather and hot temperatures during the summer, and the Santa Clarita region alone has had a 20% reduction in soil moisture. The effects of the reduction of soil moisture has led to concerning forest fire events such as the Sand Fire in 2016 and also the invasion of Pine Bark Beetles. Events like these can be incredibly dangerous to both nature and to the human population. Although difficult to prevent because forest fires can happen naturally when temperatures rise, especially during summers, there are still many strategies people can follow in order to prevent fires in local forests (Wildland Fire, n.d.). We will also explore some benefits wildfires can bring to the ecosystem. General Info Wildfires can originate from a match, a cigarette bud, or a campfire and can have devastating effects on the surrounding wildlife and human population as well. About 90% of wildfires are the cause of human error (Wildland Fire, n.d.). Wind, temperature, and humidity can have a large effect on how long a forest fire lasts, the direction, and how intense it can become (Wildland Fire, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Winter Wheat Research Paper Stichler and Livingston (1999) previously stated that a major advantage of winter wheat compared with other small grain species that could be grown for winter forage production is its excellent tolerance to abiotic stresses including cold and drought. In addition, wheat forage has relatively high nutritive values including high protein, energy values, minerals, and low fiber concentrations, compared with barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), oat (Avena sativa L.), and rye (Secale cereale L.) forages. Generally, forage yield of winter wheat from late November to early March is more consistent and productive than that of the other species (Denman and Arnold, 1970; Watson et al., 1993). Bockus et al. (2001) and Watson et al. (1993) mentioned that susceptibility of winter wheat to Hessian fly [Mayetiola destructor (Say)], leaf rust (incited by Puccinia triticina), and several virus diseases could be obstacles for successful winter forage production, especially in early planted regions. ... Utopia means a nowhere land , and its concept alludes to some imaginary paradisiacal places where human beings are living under a desired environment. This kind of ideal society with everything perfect can be found in Edward Bellamy s Looking Backward and William Morris s News from Nowhere . Dystopia, on the other hand, is a world in which nothing is perfect such as 1984 by George Orwell and We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. The concept of political utopia was originally developed by Richard Saage. According to him, political utopia provides an ideal commonwealth that characterised by its distinctive criticism of reality, its rational and comprehensible design, which is universally applicable. Climate Change and the Contribution of Agribusiness Student s Name Professor s Name Course title May 18, 2013 Climate Change and the Contribution of Agribusiness Western countries have become highly dependent on petroleum products to grow and process the food needed to support the nutritional requirements of its citizens. Gasoline and diesel fuels are needed to fertilize, till, plant, and control pests until the crops reach maturity (Prasad). Petroleum fuels are needed to bring agriculture products to food manufacturers and markets. Fertilizers, modified seeds, and pest control rely heavily on petroleum products. If petroleum fertilizers alone were eliminated, the yield per acre for corn alone would fall by 433%. What most people fail to realize is that the loss of fossil fuels would be devastating to contemporary farming methods, because renewable energy cannot substitute for the organic chemicals derived from oil and natural gas. Aside from the scary petroleum dependence of western agriculture methods there is also the contribution that farming makes to global warming. The top four producers of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. are the electric power plants (33.5%), transportation (27.7%), industry (18.6%), and agriculture (8.2%) (Takle). They also caused an exodus of people who believed differently from them and were in the colony. This exodus led to the creation of Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Roger Williams founded Rhode Island when he was exiled for speaking out against the Puritans on October 9th, 1635. The Puritans also started the larger flow of people to America. 7. • 36. Snakes are Infected with Ophidian Paramyxovirus Virus Ophidian paramyxovirus is a virus that affects snakes, particularly in the family Viperidae; it compromises the immune system, which can lead to mortality through secondary bacterial infections. This negative sense, single stranded RNA virus infects the respiratory system and can be transmitted through feces, respiratory tract secretions, fomites, or vectors such as mites; as such, in captivity, good husbandry practices are critical to prevent transmission of this disease. Paramyxovirus is a viral pathogen. The natural host and origin for this virus is unknown, but it is possible that it is not a viperid (5). The first reported outbreak of paramyxovirus in snakes was in a group of Brazilian lancehead vipers in a serpentarium in Switzerland (1). These vipers were originally from Brazil, so it is likely that the origin of the virus is found in Brazil (5). The virus itself is an RNA virus consisting of a filamentous particle enveloped in a spiked membrane, and can be between 140 and 321 nanometers in diameter. The virus replicates at an optimal temperature of 30°C, so the disease is a particular concern in colder seasons (3). This virus is easily transmitted between individuals, particularly when they are housed close to each other. It is most often transmitted through respiratory secretions (2). It can also be transmitted through aerosols, such as sputum, and oral and cloacal secretions. The virus may persist in water and may be spread through feces. It can also be ... • 37. Cardiovascular Disease Is The Number One Killer Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States, causing about 610,000 deaths yearly (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Cardiovascular disease is defined as a group of disorders damaging the heart and blood vessels, usually involving the blockage of vessels, which in turn harm the heart (WHO, 2015). A 2011 American Heart Association statement predicted that without intervention, 40% of United States adults will have at least one form of Cardiovascular disease by 2030. A large portion of these deaths by cardiovascular disease is due to the sedentary population. To better prevent cardiovascular disease, the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee stated that adults should complete about 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity weekly (Barry, Blair, Church, Hooker, Sui, Warren, 2010). Research has shown that meeting these recommendations is linked with lower cardiovascular disease risk, as well as reduced risk of mortality. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that only about 20.3% of Americans meet these guidelines. These statistics show that the majority of the United States population does not get nearly the amount of physical activity they need. However, even though many people are not doing the recommended amount of physical activity, this may not mean that they are living a sedentary life. Living a sedentary lifestyle is ... The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless consumerism. One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes, and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually, (Scott). Some of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. • 40. Capitalism During The Great Depression For example, when a good is scarce, the prices goes up, so consumers try to avoid buying and therefore conserving the resource. Then, the suppliers want to find more of the source as to get a better profit. The reasons behind their actions are selfish, yet they benefit all of society. Smith identified that the pursuit of profit and the power of self interest would increase motivation and result in more advances in technology. His model of capitalism was on the basis of freedom and selfishness as a motivator for society. It was also on the basis that the economy would go through recessions and expansions but fix itself. Recessions are periods in the economy in which unemployment goes up, while profits and spending goes down; a slowdown of the economy. An expansion is essentially the exact opposite. The classical model of economics states that the economy will continue to go through these fluctuations over time and will fix itself with no help, thus not needing a government to give influence. Eventually, however, The Great Depression happened, and there was no end in sight of the dramatic recession. The Great Depression was a widespread crash of the market that happened in 1929 and lasted well into the 1930 s. For a long time, no one knew why it had happened or when it would be over.
