Chocolate Child Labor
Chocolate is the one of the famous snack in the world and consumed by a lot of consumers all
around the world. Chocolate is made from cacao beans and cacao beans are produced by
smallholder farmers. Most of the world s cacao beans comes from West Africa, mostly the Republic
of CГґte d Ivoire more than 40% of the world s cacao beans. The cacao beans they grow sold to
the most of the chocolate company. I found out the cacao beans may be the result of unfair labor,
child labor and the slave. In the Republic of CГґte d Ivoire, there is about 800,000 children are

Tertiary Proteins Globular
. The 3 D tertiary structure of polypeptide proteins globular and is the result of interactions that
occur between R groups. Tertiary structure is a result of the bonds between sidechains of amino
acids, the R groups. The structure and bonds involve alpha helices, beta pleated sheets, and also
regions unique to each protein. Tertiary proteins are held together by four different types of forces;
hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions (including Van der Waals interactions), ionic bonding
(electrostatic interactions), and disulfide bridges (strong covalent bonds). Hydrogen bonds occur
within and between polypeptide chains and the aqueous environment. Hydrogen bonding forms
between a highly electronegative oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom and a hydrogen atom attached to
another oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom. This links the amino acid... Show more content on

PrPc (a healthy prion) generally functions in this way but when unhealthy PrPSc comes into
contact with healthy PrPc it converts healthy to unhealthy. This disrupts the cell and the cell
will make another healthy PrPc in its place. This is how the disease unfolds. The cell replaces
the healthy protein that has become unhealthy PrPSc; only for it to then be converted to
unhealthy. PrPSc eventually converts all healthy PrPc proteins to PrPSc. PrPSc; the misfolded
and unhealthy prion acts as its own chaperone. Proteosomes exist to destroy proteins that
misfold. Our defense mechanisms do not recognize the PrPSc as foreign and therefore do not
destroy it. It continues to proliferate as it turns PrPc to PrPSc. Since PrPSc is hydrophobic it
tends to hide from water and turn inward and clump together in the cells. This is called
aggregation. Eventually the PrPSc overtakes and kills the cell and leave the appearance of tissues
looking spongy. New cells do not grow in dead cells place and PrPSc finds new cells to invade as
the disease progresses (Cobb Surewicz,

Thesis: Although the U.S. military has been a leader in desegregation and in other social
matters, during World War Two fear and prejudice keep many highly qualified people from
serving. This weakened every branch of the military by limiting it to a less diverse and therefore
less flexible fighting force. 1. History of the U.S. Military a. Leader in social matters i. Inclusion

This simple act should not be overlooked. It was possibly the first time that any high ranking
political figure had gone out their way to ensure that blacks were not mistreated and was seen
by many as a bold and risky move on Lincoln s part. Not everyone was welcome in the U.S.
military. Women in particular were heavily restricted. Women could only serve as nurses and
then nowhere near an active combat zone. Black women, who could not formally join the Army,
nonetheless served as nurses, spies, and scouts, the most famous being Harriet Tubman. When
the Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as
an armed scout and spy for the 2nd South Carolina Volunteers. She was the first woman to lead
an armed expedition in the war for America. She led a Union raid on the Combahee River in the
interior of South Carolina on June 2, 1863. This single raid was credited with freeing over 750
slaves was a humiliating blow to the Southern cause and a major morale booster for the North.
Tubman will always be remembered for her role in the Underground Railroad but her service to
the military in a time of war should never be forgotten. The history of black soldiers did not
change much until December 7th 1941. On that terrible day forces of the Japanese Imperial Navy
attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. This single attack plunged the U.S. into the
Second World War and changed

Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship
Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The
way in which human beings relate to one another has been a source of inspiration to painters,
sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike.
Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they
value one another and each connection between those relationships makes a different impact on the
one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance
the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which
start in the home. A relationship between a parent and child has a special unspoken bond in which
they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the
only depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child
how to form other bonds with mutual respect and admiration, such as friendships further on in life.
As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate
relationships.
Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to
strengthen character and introduces a sense of belonging with others rather than family. Children
are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get
older and gain knowledge,

Risk Analysis. A Risk Analysis Was Prepared As Part Of
Risk Analysis
A risk analysis was prepared as part of the review of Ford as a potential investment opportunity.
The Capital Asset Pricing Model defines the relevant risk of an individual stock as the amount of
risk that the stock contributes to the market portfolio (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250). The risk of
a stock can be measured by its beta. The higher the beta of a stock, the higher the risk. Stocks
with a beta below one are less volatile than the market while stocks with a beta of greater than one
are more volatile than the market. Well diversified portfolios include a stocks with both high and
low betas (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250).
According to Yahoo Finance, Ford s beta as of December 3, 2016 is 1.22 (Yahoo Finance ... Show

Rather, a subscription type model may be the future. Customer would sign up for a subscription
service offered by companies like Uber or Lyft rather than owning or leasing their own vehicle.
This has the potential to dramatically decrease the total number of vehicles needed in the United
States and across the world. The business model for the automobile industry is much more
profitable at high sales volumes. If those volumes decrease dramatically, as they did with the
economic disruption in 2007, there is the potential that some automobile manufactures will not
survive (Ferraras, 2014).
Recommendation
A thorough analysis of Ford, including economic, financial, and risk factors has been completed
by the financial investment team. This analysis was then reviewed to determine if Ford would be
an ideal addition to the client s investment portfolio. As stated earlier, the team is looking to add a
large domestic value stock with a low risk. After considering all available data and key factors, the
team does not recommend an investment in Ford at this time.
Ford has a strong brand and appears to be a well run business. The company has a stellar
reputation and compares favorably to its competitors when analyzing the key financial ratios. Ford
has been in business for over 100 years, surviving multiple world wars and severe economic
downturns. If the team was picking the best automobile company to invest in, Ford would be near

The Importance Of Condoms
Sexual intercourse has various meanings to different people. It is typically a fun activity that
people usually experience and enjoy. Condoms are a material used to practice safe sexual
intercourse and these materials are made up of small, thin pouches made of latex (rubber), plastic
(polyurethane, nitrile, or polyisoprene) or lambskin, that cover your penis during sex and collect
semen are a thin covering, worn on the penis during sex to prevent pregnancyand sexually
transmitted diseases (PlannedParenthood 2017) . Many schools have distributed condoms to
promote safe sex in teens. About 431 public high schools in the United States distribute condoms.
Although this seems like a great idea, condoms should not be distributed in high schools because
many teens are misinformed of the procedures of using condoms, condoms are being used less by
teens, and it could affect the social, emotional and lifestyle of teenagers.
Condoms should not be distributed in high schools because teens are not well informed about the
usage and proper procedures of using a condom. Many people have been misinformed that condoms
prevent pregnancy one hundred percent of the time. However, that is not quite true. Condoms are
not 100 percent effective, they usually tend break during sexual intercourse causing a higher risk of
your partner becoming pregnant. Teens are not well informed about this fact and are often surprised
to find out later after the accident happens. Also, teens are not taught

The Three Fathers in Silas Mamer Essay
Compare and contrast the three fathers in Silas Mamer. What does and examination of their roles
reveal to us about nineteenth century society and has it any relevance to us today? Silas Marner
was an awe inspiring book, which broadened my mind into the wonders of the nineteenth century,
including the ups and downs of family life in the village and still being fairy tale story. Although
it was difficult to read and it had a vast vocabulary of nineteenth century language I still
understood the plot and gained a lot from it. It taught me about how people s lives then compared
to ours, and how they coped with ordinary dilemmas. It is interesting to study how the three fathers

Paul Jackson Pollock Research Paper
Paul Jackson Pollock was a phenomenal American painter. He was known for his unique style he
called drip painting. One of Pollock s first drip paintings is called Mural. Drip paintings become a
controversial topic in the art world. Many claimed that it was not legitimate art due to how chaotic
the piece looked. However, it is legitimate art due to how creative and successful it was.
Creativity is a characteristic produced from one s imagination. To be creative means to think
outside the box and do something no one would expect. Creativity branches off originality. When
you do something creative it simulates your mind. To create is to express yourself in a unique
way. Inventing is what is mostly associated with being creative. Having original ideas or thoughts

This piece was the very first to be composed with Pollock s drip painting method. No one else
had ever used this technique was never even thought of before Pollock debuted the painting in
1943. Drip painting was used exclusively by Pollock, making him stand out from other artists.
He also used unconventional tools for his masterpieces such as harden brushes, sticks, and
basting syringes. Using these odd objects made his work look energetic and helped to establish
him as an abstract artist. After the composition of Mural Pollock shied away from his more
contemporary works. Pollock also had an obscure process to make his paintings. He did not use an
easel like most instead he used the floor of a barn he converted into a studio so he could feel closer
to the painting. Pollock was known to appear to dance around the makeshift studio as he was
working never realized he was doing it because his mind became absorbed into his works. His
weird methods caused him to rarely redo a piece and never be afraid of making a mistake. Jackson

Essay on The Decline of Indentures Servitude
The decline of indentured servitude and the rise of chattel slavery were caused by economic
factors of the English settlers in the late 17th century. Colonists continually tried to allure laborers
to the colony. The head right system was to give the indentured servant a method of becoming
independent after a number of years of service. Colonists chiefly relied on Indentured Servitude,
in order to facilitate their need for labor. The decreasing population combined with a need for a
labor force, led colonists to believe that African slaves were the most efficient way to acquire a
labor force that would satisfy their needs.
Before the 1680 s, indentured servitude was the primary source of labor in the newly developed
colonies. There were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Africans were economically better, due to British control of the slave trade making black labor
cheaper.#
In the 1600 s, tobacco became the main source of income for most of the colonists. The
economic prosperity of the colonies was primarily dependent on the amount of tobacco
produced. The growing of tobacco needed large amount of land, with a large stable work force. The
increased demand for a large, stable work force combined with the availability and low price of
African slaves, led to the use of slavery in the colonies. To the planter, slavery was the ideal form
of labor that would be most beneficial to productivity of his crop.#
The key factor to the shift to African chattel slavery was the revolt known as Bacon s Rebellion
in 1676. Bacon was an English aristocrat who just came to Virginia Due to a disagreement with
royal governor William Berkeley, he gathered support from both white and black indentured
servants and began a series of revolts against the governor and the landowners. These revolts just
added to the preference for black labor and slavery. Even though Bacon died before anything
could happen, the threat of such a biracial alliance challenging the power of the master class
prompted the colony s elite to switch to an enslaved black labor force. The demand for black
slaves rose and this caused an increase of Africans into the colonies. By the 1700 s, slavery was
deep rooted in the colonies government.#
Planters had an abundance of land and a

The Five Characteristics Of The Five Sources Of Power
A leader has many important characteristics. One of these important characteristics is power.
Without power, leaders would not be able to influence their followers to achieve their goals
ethically. There are five main sources of power for leaders. The influence that leaders have using
these sources could be either negative or positive.
My Research to Answer the Question:
In 1959 John French and Bertram Raven stated significant theories regarding the source of power in
their article The Bases of Power and suggested that there are five sources of power. These
sources are placed into Organizational Powers and Personal Powers. Organizational Power
contains Legitimate, Coercive, and Reward power while Personal Power contains Expert and
Referent power or Connections power (Merchant., n.d.). Raven then added another power source
called Informational power six years later (Prescott, 2015). Other sources of power that are not
part of the theory that French and Raven stated are Moral power and Political power.

I agree with this statement due to the fact that employees who are working without job security,
and are working out of fear rather out of love will not work effectively, nor will they be loyal to
their employers and would quit when they get the first chance to or find another job. The
employee would oblige to the task in fear of facing the consequences of not doing it (Prescott,
2015). In order for this to happen, the followers must believe that the leader has the ability to
what he or she is threatening to do (Leadership Power, n.d.). Thus, this power gives the leader
control over behaviors and causes the employees to stick to the rules and guidelines of the
organization but it could also cause the followers to be unhappy (Prescott, 2015). An example
could be that of a mother who threatens her child to go into a time out if he or she fails to behave in

Key Factors Of Successful Mitigation Projects Throughout...
Problem Statement Emergency managers in the United States have it easy compared to
individuals who work in the developing world. Although challenges like limited budgets or
political will may be universal problems, in places like Uganda, they are magnified. These areas
are home to the most vulnerable populations. Where poverty, little to no infrastructure or
government services, and a lack of access to education, create the potential for a disaster to inflict
deviating damage. Mitigation programs have the greatest potential for reducing the impact of such
events. However, unlike the United States, these countries often times don t have the resources to
establish and maintain many types of mitigation programs. As the world has started to become a
globalized community, many industrialized nations have recognized this need, and want to
provide aid to these countries. Because of the reality that this aid has its limits, and that every aid
dollar is precious, it is important to be able to maximize the return on this investment. This
Research project will identify key factors of successful mitigation projects throughout the
developing world in order to establish a set of guidelines for future projects. With these guidelines,
valuable time and resources will be saved and mitigation projects will have maximum impact on
the communities they serve. This is not only a way of developing low cost projects to developing
nations, but it is a way of insuring that investors in these types

Augustine Empire Vs Byzantine Civilization
Although the Ancient Egyptian Civilization and the Byzantine Empire both had a big influence on
each other and are very similar, they also have their big differences. The first and foremost of those
differences being how the members of each civilizations made their living. The Ancient Egyptians
were mostly farmers, or laborers, while the people of the Byzantine Empire were mostly traders,
builders, tutors, and doctors. Another difference and similarity is each civilization s respective
geographical features. They both share access to the Mediterranean Sea, but while Ancient Egypt
has many man made geographical features, the Byzantine Empire has little to none. Other

The standard religion in Ancient Egypt wasn t really one set religion at all. It was more a mix of
all of the main principles of the different, and most prominent religions we observe being
practiced around the world today. Like most religions, they had a belief in a higher power, they
were polytheistic that went with an extensive mythology for all of the gods they worshipped,
whilst having a very strong belief of spiritualism, and having magic incorporated into many parts
of their religion. They also had a more scientific aspects of their religion such as psychiatry,
herbology, and medicine. Contrarily, the religion of Byzantium wa much more predetermined,
standard, and while being Christianity at the specific time of those people, their religion is very
similar to that of today s Christianity. They were monotheistic, meaning they only worshipped one
god, unlike the Ancient Egyptians. While they only worshipped one god, they believed that there
were three elements to him: God the Father; God the Son and the Holy Spirit. They followed the
teachings of Jesus Christ, also viewing him as the son of God, and the messiah promised in the
Old Testament. They obtained this information from their holy book called the Bible, and
worshipped and were taught lessons from the Bible in churches, by their religious leaders called
Priests or Ministers. Other

Human Security And National Security
Too often, the notion/concept of national security is misinterpreted and made too narrow. It s a
common belief of many that national security only entails the protection of states borders from
outside threats. In recent times, this seems to not be the case, since the dangers that states faces
now threatens the life of the individual, therefore, protection of the citizens, their wellbeing, and the
laws of the land becomes a priority which links it or makes it human security. States like the US are
adjusting their foreign policies to fit this new human security as national security approach. Also,
with the world becoming a small global village, states are using less military force to settle
dispute. They are reducing the amount of violence they use against one another. Everyone seems
to be embracing the notion of peace rather than war and I believe this is so because nations do not
want to go back to the hostility and instability of the Cold Warera. Using the United Statesforeign
policies (past and current) regarding terrorism, I will be analyzing how they fit or do not fit into the
spectrum of human security as national security.
According to Roland Paris, human security does not have one explicit definition. Different nations
and organization define this concept differently; each according to its view, policies, interests, and
goals. Paris compared the concept to standard developmental goals, in the sense that though most (if
not all) nations desire it, only a few knows

Upbringing Of Humanism In The Renaissance
Upbringing of Humanism
In the Middle Ages, in medieval Europe, rural life had been governed by a feudalistic society, the
king granted large pieces of land called fiefs to noblemen and bishops. The Renaissance, also
known as the rebirth which started in Italy, was a period between the 14th and 16th century where
new ideas were born through the revival of the classical art and intellect of Ancient Greece and
Rome. Following the plague of the 14th and 15the centuries the Renaissance was fueled by soldiers
returning from the Crusades. There became a renewed interest in Greek and Roman art, humans
became included in art pieces, not just depictions of religious or holy topics. Although the Middle
Ages and Renaissance were similar through the usage of classic greco roman literature, there were
more differences between the two eras because the Renaissance was more Humanistic shown
through the advancements in artistic importance, education and literary enhancements using the
printing press. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance the importance of art was relevant, however,
the different styles and amounts of importance differentiated greatly to the point where it
outweighed their similarities. In the Middle Ages, art had drastically differed from that born in the
Renaissance. Byzantine style had dominated (Mid. A.) and much of the art was deemed fit with a
religious emphasis. This differed from the Renaissance style (not as religious based) of classic

conduct tasks appropriately. The comparative advantage identifies the economy, which produces the
goods with the lowest opportunity cost.
The United States has an absolute advantage over the technological products and services which
are critical. Within the global markets, the U.S has been able to provide tech products and services
appropriately. However, it has comparative advantage of offering tech services while the absolute
advantage exists in technology design and providing industrial capacity. The U.S is a major
exporter in the international markets of products such as civilian aircraft, semiconductors, cars, car

Fundamental analysis of the company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008)
Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be
worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two
business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present
value of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from

Zeitoun Book Report
Sitting in english class, you are handed this book called Zeitoun. Weeks go by, and you just

way you feel about the book. Zeitoun, by Dave Eggers, is a book about this family who gives you
their opinion and the inside story on what it was like for their family when Hurricane Katrinahit

was convicted of looting, his family evacuating New Orleans while he stayed behind, and the
aftermath of the storm hitting the area forcefully. Even though he had to go through all of this,

Eggers did a fantastic job of showing this. Taking the way he wrote could lead to clues that he
actually did try to incorporate the way Zeitoun treated his wife and family. Eggers really did not
fully show that Zeitoun was an unbreakable superhero. He shows how Zeitoun and Kathy
disagree on things and how they argue.(Nashe) When Zeitoun and Kathy went on that walk to
this huge rock, Kathy said multiple times how she wanted to turn back around and forget about
what they promised. Zeitoun would not let her turn around. He would say that they had come to
far to turn back. This could allude to the abuse he put Kathy under. The rock could be the goal,
and Zeitoun would want to stay together and prove that they had a strong marriage and a strong
will to grow together. Kathy turning around could act like her wanting to give up everything they
went through and for the both of them to start off brand new; but Zeitoun won. They walked to
the rock, but even though Kathy kept up the strong act for a while, it did not last. Eggers also
showed he was stubborn and that he put a lot of effort into his work. Zeitoun eventually became a
workaholic, partly because of the fact he was imprisoned. After the storm though, Eggers shows
how both of them are broken.(Nashe) Without indirectly adding these little hints, it is easy to say
that Eggers probably did not know about the abuse; but since there are the tiny hint, it is possible to
say that Eggers might have known about some of it. He might not have known all the details, but
he perhaps knew a little something. He does not have the right to come out and just say that Kathy
was abused because he used what the family gave to him. If they gave him the information, he
should have said something, but if they did not give him the information he can not just accuse
Zeitoun. The fact that Eggers and the filmmaker, Jonathan Demme, said Our primary

You lit a few candles, picked up your book, and sunk to your neck in the water. Silence was a

Nothing was going to stop you from utilizing this day in the most productive way of all; doing

Currently, there are two major of database management systems which are used to deal with data,
the first one called Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which is the traditional
relational databases, it deals with structured data and have been popular since decades from
1970, while the second one called Not only Structure Query Language databases (NoSQL), they
have been dealing with semi structured and unstructured data; the NoSQL term was introduced
for the first time in 1998 by Carlo Strozzi and Eric Evans reintroduced the term NoSQL in early
2009, and now the NoSQL types are gaining their popularity with the development of the internet

Essay On Russian And Soviet Government
Russia has been run by many different governments since the time of Peter the Great. Accordingly,
all of these governments had their advantages, but eventually all will be replaced by a new system
of government. The Russian and Soviet governments contain vastly different political systems and
ideologies, but the performance of power by the leaders has not changed that vastly.
Systems of Governments
Tsars ruled Russia for several hundreds of years before falling with the events of the Bolshevik
Revolution. The reign is known for the land expansions that were implemented. Peter was the first
of many Russian leaders to believe ...he did not need the church s guidance, but was directly
answerable to God... (Hoskings, 37). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, a major ideology is the right for the people to have elections to elect their government
officials.
The Authoritarian reign began with the appointment and election of Vladimir Putin and continues
until the present, as he is still in power. Putin uses the ideologies of power, whether in the military
sphere, the political field or the financial world.
Performance of Power
Peter the Great displayed his power in many different ways throughout his reign. He hosted a
grand advent, which would replace his coronation, to celebrate his victory at Azov. His
coronation occurred when he was ten years old; this advent celebrating the Crimean Tatars defeat
was the first real outing of his reign. Later, staged battles that displayed Peter working his way up
through the ranks; paintings and engravings were made to commemorate his victories, often
referring to himself and Russia as a whole as various Roman gods and goddesses. These displays
were a way for Peter to display his dominance to his people throughout his empire, given that there
was no modern technology in his time.
Stalin performed his power in a slightly different way as there was quicker communication systems
in place compared to Peter s time. His charisma and control of the major newspapers led to a cult
being formed with Stalin at the head. This cult prevented uprisings and the population s moral

The Disease Of Cancer And Cancer
Cancer is the name given to a collection of many diseases. Cancer is uncontrolled cell division
due to genetic changes that interfere the cell cycle and activate cell division. The cancer start in
any part of the human body, such as in blood, lung, and colon. Cancers are different in the ways
they spread and grow. Cancers types have its own characteristics. The general characteristics of
Cancers are they work in the absence of growth factors, make their own growth factors, don t
respond to the signal that stop cell division or cell dies, and they make signals the increase blood
vessel growth to provide nutrients. There are many types of cancers the most common types are
Lung cancer, Breast in female, Prostate in male, a Malignant Melanoma, and many other types of
cancers. The incidence of cancer and cancer types are influenced by many factors such as age,
gender, race, local environmental factors, diet, and genetics. There are many different causes
that led to cancer. For example, radiation and genetics. Also, the International Agency for
Research added new factors that led to Cancer and classified it as a high risk agent cancers, such
as beef, lamb, and pork. Normal cells in the body follow an orderly path of growth, division, and
death errors in these instructions can cause the cell to stop its normal function and may allow a
cell to become cancerous. Mutation in DNA is responsible for cell division. The DNA of the

Enkidu Vs Hector Essay
Gilgamesh Enkidu vs. Hector Patroclus
Enkidu and Gilgamesh did not know that they would become their best friends and almost
brothers in the beginning. Like, Achilles and Hector are both tragic heroes from the Trojan War,
on different sides; they are completely the opposite for they never became friends. Hector was the
best warrior on the Trojan side, Achilles was the best warrior on the Greek side, and both suffer
from arrogance and pride. Much like Gilgamesh does not like Enkidu early in Tablet 2, there is no
indication that this person will change Gilgamesh s life, or when Enkidu is talking to the woman,
getting ready to go back to the town, and wants to blindly take down Gilgamesh, showing that they
both have some arrogance there. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More people probably like Hector better, because he has a family. Hector is portrayed as a
family man earning him many brownie points. Because it looks like he is fighting for his family.
On the other hand, Achilles is fighting for himself a lot of the time. In addition, for most of the
Iliad he is not fighting. Achilles is into the war for the glory and blood of fighting. Achilles does
fight for his cousin; When Hector kills Patroclus while wearing Achilles armor. In comparison,
Enkidu s death seems like worst thing that could happen to Gilgamesh and it sets him on the
path to Utnapishtim, the quest for eternal life. In in different situation you could even say that
Gilgamesh and Enkidu s relationship is more that of Patroclus and Achilles. Since Achilles was
not fighting. Hector s strength is that he is honest and family man. His weakness is that he is
arrogant which led to his demise when he does not withdraw and go back into the walls. Achilles
great power is what made him invincible except his heel by his mother Thetis, and he is very
emotional. It is good when he lets his emotions feel Priam s petition to get back his dead son s

The Pros And Cons Of H-1B Visas
H 1B Visas In recent years, much has changed in the science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM) fields. Three sources entitled, Rising above the Gathering Storm,
Innovative America, and Tapping America s Potential argue that if Americans do not improve in
the STEM field our economy will suffer, so will our exports, and will heavily impact America. If
we do not improve then the standard of living may fall and so will our economy. The three
reports talk about using more innovation and technology, if we do this then our economy will be
stable. The proponents argue that we need to close achievement gaps, improve the quality of
teachers, increase labor supply, improve our international ranking, and issue more H 1B visas.
Workers in the STEM field think that their employers are replacing them because the H 1B foreign
workersare cheaper. Although, critics argue that the STEM movement is sabotaging other
countries so, America can be ahead. But, for the US to be ahead in innovation and STEM
education, we need to issue more H 1B visas. The H 1b program is for guest workers from
different countries.
The critics argue that these H 1B visas are popular because companies want to obtain workers at a
lower cost than American workers.. Ron HIra, the writer of The H 1B and L 1 Visa Programs: Out
of Control, writes about how H 1B workers are supposed to be helping, but instead they are making
things worse for American workers. The goals of the H 1B and L1 visa programs

Analysis Of To Paint A Water Lily By Ted Hughes
In To Paint a Water Lily by Ted Hughes, the poet utilizes metaphor, personification, and imagery
to display the speaker s attitudes toward nature and the artist s task. Hughes style shows that the
speaker is in awe of the landscape, and his task as an artist becomes to somehow capture the
entirety of the scene before him. To begin, the speaker uses an extended metaphor to set the
scene of the poem. He describes the water lilies as a barrier between two layers of nature. The
layer of lilies roofs the pond s chambers, while it also paves the flies arena. By dividing the scene
into two layers, the speaker shows how complex the scene before him is. The most useful literary
technique that the speaker uses is personification. In personifying

The Founding And Spread Of Buddhism, Hinduism,...
Often in history, when something is done right and praised by the masses, it is mimicked in some
way in future instances. This can be seen in the variety of religions that have sprung up over time
and gained large followings. Although they are all unique in their own way, certain aspects connect
them and allow one to see how they all, in some way, influence each other. When analyzing the
founding and spread of Buddhism, Sikhism, Confucianism, and Hinduism, it is evident that although
there are many distinguishing differences between the four religions, there are multiple
similarities that link them all with each other. The word Buddhism is derived from the word
budhi , to awaken, so it makes sense that the creation of the religion begins with its founder s
awakening. It is said that Buddhism started in the 6th century due to the actions of its founder,
Siddhartha Gautama, the wealthy warrior son of a king and queen in Lumbini (now Nepal). When
Siddhartha was young, a soothsayer predicted that he would become a renouncer and his father
showered him in luxuries, hoping to change this prediction. However, as a young man, Siddhartha
went on a series of chariot rides in which he witnessed a variety of suffering people and came to
the realization that material pleasures, such as his own, only serve to mask human suffering. After
entering a period of severe and damaging renunciation and realizing that it only added suffering,
Siddhartha meditated under a tree and woke up the

Celebrated Jumping Frog
Knute Rockne, a former football coach for the University of Notre Dame once said, Win or lose,
do it fairly. However, in Mark Twain s story The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,
the main character, otherwise known as Smiley, does not live by this saying. The story of Smiley
and his celebrated jumping frog takes place in a gold mining camp, which is located in Calaveras
County, California, during the Gold Rush era. The dominant theme in The Celebrated Jumping
Frog of Calaveras County, is that trying to deceive someone can result in unexpected consequences.

The prominent choices of diction which appear on the first page of Twain s short story, some
examples include, lurking suspicion and he backed me into a corner and blockaded me with his
chair. . The diction helps foreshadow the deception that occurs later on in the story; furthermore,
the choice of diction suggests intelligence, which means that someone of higher intelligence is
foreshadowed to try and deceive someone of lower intelligence despite the fact there are
consequences. The dialogue of Smiley being accounted by Simon Wheezler, he ketched a frog
one day and took him home and said he cal klated to edercate him (Twain 3), contains diction that
emphasizes the lack of a formal education. By using diction that suggests lack of intelligence and
education, Twain is able to use the theme of deception ending with unexpected consequences to
showcase that probability that people with lower intelligence have a hard time learning of their
mistakes, especially when deceived. The final example of diction, well I don t see no p ints about
that frog that s any better n any other frog, (Twain 4), highlights another person with a lack of
education, but this person has more intelligence or at least more awareness than the people Smiley
usually tricks, which will eventually make it harder for Smiley to deceive him; thus, being unable

The Effects Of Maternal Behavior On Mother Rats Essay
Two scholarly articles compared the different effects maternal behavior can have on mother rats
later on in their lifetime. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward
one s young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two
different experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioningapproach. Classical condition
was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a
response is elicited by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied
rats with varying degrees of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested
in both articles. Overall, there are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In
rats, each cycle lasts about four to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only
six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016). Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis.
In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the
Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a
lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given
birth to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care
of their young or lactating. For this experiment, the independent variable was stress and maternal
experience.

Analysis Of The Book Bitter Watters
Bitter Watters was a book over the author s experiences under Stalin s Soviet Union. Andreev
Khomiakov (the author) talks about his everyday life during the years of 1935 to 1941. From
the point of being imprisoned in a labor camp in till he has to leave Moscow because of World
War II. In the book Andreev Khomiakov talks about how the Stalin system works daily, and
expresses his own opinions about it. He explains how controlled he and his coworkers are by the
Soviets. This primary source is helpful to feel what it was like under Stalin s Soviet Union. After
reading Bitter Watters, I have realized Stalin s totalitarian was an actual thing. Using the words
from Andreev Khomiakov himself, you will see how Stalin s regime was totalitarian. By giving
a summary of a section and then dissecting it with facts will help explain the argument. That
Stalin s Soviet Union was a totalitarian run country during his rule. First we need to briefly go
over the beginning of the book to understand the books direction. The book starts out with
Andreev Khomiakov explaining his thought process of being released from the labor camp. What
he would do when he was released. He thought he was ready for the outside world in till he was

At a time when humanist thinkers occupied themselves with determining man s position in the
world, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, in the 15th century Oration on the Dignity of Man, asserted
that man is master of both his dignity and destiny, and there was no limit to what scientists may
achieve as long as they glorify God in the end. World history teaches that, though scientists might
begin research with the intent of glorifying God , the rush to advance in scienceand technology and
the fever to uncover the wonders of nature result in hubris and the abandonment of God and the
subsequent exaltation of human beings God like properties. Scientists throughout the centuries
have held differing opinions about the limits humans should impose on science: whereas Pico della
Mirandolabelieved science was to be used for the glorification of God, but never for the
imposition of man on God s will; Sir Francis Bacon, writing 150 years later, believed that any
scientific experimentation or means which justified the end goal of human perfection were
acceptable, even if they interfered with God s creations. In the 21st century, ethicists and scientists
from around the world propose that science should be allowed to continue with broad moral
checks; science is not inherently good or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[It] made the prospect of future war unendurable. Writes Oppenheimer. It has led us up those last
few steps to the mountain pass; and beyond there is a different country. What he refers to is the
Atomic bomb the arsenal of righteousness; the weapon of mass destruction used to end over
185,000 lives. Marking the start of the nuclear age, the atomic bomb took science from hopeful to
horrific a transition into an ethically grim world where morality seemed strapped by the insecurity
and terror brought by war. Were such weapons meant to do good? Or were they simply examples

Kaloona s Perfect Plan to Save her Planet
A darkness. An absolute darkness accompanied with deathly silence. Just somewhere from a
distance is heard a baby crying. Kaloona immediately knew, why the darkness clouded her
planet. She went in tears to the balcony, looked up to the sky and quietly cried: I failed. I could
not protect Balathron the light of life. Now our planet will die and all people with it. Mummy,
please forgive me. Kaloona felt hopelessly, but she knew, she must do something very quickly to
save her planet and her nation. Suddenly was born a perfect plan in her mind. General Tarkhan,
can you come to my room, please? she said with determination in her voice into the
communication device. In a few minutes General knocked on her door. Yes, her Majesty. I and
all my soldiers are ready and waiting for your permission to find and eliminate enemies who
stole Balathron and bring it back to Sorascant. Kaloona looked at him and said: No, General, it is
my mission to protect people of Sorascant and not to send them to certain death. I will not allow
women lost their husbands and children their fathers. I will go and find them. Do not try to stop
me, I have already decided. As Guardian of Balathron is my duty to protect the light and whereas
was stolen, it is my duty to return it where it belongs. All I need from you is to find mage
Romerithan and bring him to me as soon as possible. And also target a spacecraft of Admiral
Ballisian and inform me about his every move. Thank you. Now you can

The Fredrick Douglass An American Slave
When people learn that an education can give oneself freedom, power, and knowledge oneself
can conquer any problem that comes its way. It is oneself responsibility to take advantage of its
free education that I and everyone is given here in the United States. It seems people that are
restricted from receiving an education are the ones that are determined to do whatever it takes
to get an education so oneself can improve one s life. I read the Fredrick Douglass an American
Slave. It seemed a bit harsh the way he was treated. He had a mistress that wanted to teach him
how to read and learn his ABCs but when her husband found out what she was doing he said to
her If you give a nigger an inch, he will take an ell. A nigger should know nothing

Factors That Has An Effect On Conformity
Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs and behaviours to group norms. Factors that has
an effect on conformity can be culture, age, gender or larger group size. Zimbardo, Johnson,
Hamilton (2014) explained that culture includes language, beliefs, customs, values and traditions.
They mentioned that the social and cultural situation in which the person is rooted to can
sometimes be the strongest factor that influences behaviour. For example, some cultureplaces
importance on punctuality which in turn influences behaviour, such as procrastination or lack of
thereof. Indeed, one of the psychology perspective that psychologists focus on is sociocultural
perspective, whereby social and cross cultural psychologists have been studying how these social
processes differ from one culture to another.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, cross cultural differences in conformityexist when individuals face normative group
pressure to conform.
In this study, Indians born from India and Americans born in the United States were chosen as
participants. Their level of collectivism and individualism were measured using Self Construal
Scale and was found that Americans were significantly more individualistic than the Indian
participants. Research findings by Oh show that Indians show a higher level of conformity than the
Americans. Indeed, people from more group oriented cultures of Asia, Africa, Latin America and
the Middle East practice the tradition of fitting in with the group and promoting social harmony

In maternal child health in the United States and feasibly throughout the world, preterm birth is
currently the most important problem and is the most significant challenge to modern obstetrics.
According to the World Health Organization, a preterm birth is defined as birth before 37
completed weeks of gestation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2014) estimated
that 1 in 9 infants born in United States are preterm babies. Preterm related reasons of death
together accounted for 35% of all infant deaths in 2010, more than any other single cause.
Preterm birth is also a foremost cause of long term neurological disabilities in children. Preterm
birth costs the U.S. health care system more than $26 billion in 2005 (CDC, 2014). Preterm birth
is a condition triggered by several etiologies, one of which is a drop in progesterone action, which
makes cervical ripening. A sonographic short cervix(identified in the midtrimester) is a dominant
forecaster of spontaneous preterm

Reality Boy Theme
Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King.
Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up
because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him
up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The
book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to
turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have
experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome
the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes... Show

There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A
young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because
nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am
pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a
warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in
our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of
10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was
ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is
unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality
Boy by A.S. King is an interesting but inappropriate boo, but for me it was a pleasure to read it. I
liked ho Gerald, whose life was turned upside down, turned it rightside up and made it better for
himself and for everyone around

Warehouse 13 Book Report
During this summer, my friends recommended that I watch a season of Warehouse 13 since I m
fond of science fiction movies, television shows, and books. I thought it was well made therefore
I watched all of the episodes and I love most of the seasons. The fifth season seemed rushed and
was only six episodes. Other shows I enjoy watching are Doctor Who, Supernatural, and The X
Files but there s an overabundance of episodes. Warehouse 13 is distinctive by seeing that it won
t take up much time. This show has five seasons and around sixty episodes. They last around forty
minutes each so I finished the series in two weeks. I normally don t binge watch; however, after
seeing the Indiana Jones based episodeI finished fairly quickly.

Bobo Doll Experiment
The Bobo Doll experiment also demonstrated that incentives can affect performance (Holy Perry,
2012). Incentives can encourage behaviors to continue or be discouraged. At this educator s
program, students who have misbehave loose the privilege of using their favorite toy. After the
child repeatedly loses privileges for the same misconduct, the child begins to learn that behavior
have a consequence. Many early childhood educators can see that, after the child has learned cause
and effect, the child minimizes the behavior to avoid losing privileges. As Holy Perry (2012) states,
this might explain why not all adolescents get influenced by the media s smoking advertisements.
Adolescents avoid bad behavior because they have personal consequences

It increases the heartbeat and the working of the whole circulatory system, helping to eliminate
waste materials from the body. All the cells of the body receive extra nutrition enabling them to
function more efficiently. This leads to better health an increased vitality.
The lymphatic system is also speeded up. Surya Namaskara, by increasing the circulation and the
removal of poisonous bacteria, directly aids the lymphatic system to work more efficiently in its
fight against illness.
Surya Namaskara, when done correctly, accentuates the exchange of air to and from the lungs,
opens and expands the intricate alveoli, or air sacs, of the lung tissue and exercises the muscles of
the surrounding chest region. The lungs are emptied of impurities and stale air as well as the body
and brain are revitalized by the extra supply of oxygen they receive. One can almost feel the extra
super charge of energy.
The multitudes of nerves connections throughout the body are gently stretched, massaged and
stimulated while doing Surya Namaskara. It tones up the nerves and simultaneously awakens the
associated brain centres. One feels more alive after a few rounds of this exercise. It tones up the
nervous system and improves

Project Blue Book Essay
Project Blue Book in 1952 marked the first governmental effort to investigate the existence of
UFOs. Hysteria among the public concerning UFO sightings prompted the creation of the project
by the United States Air Force. The various sightings of unidentified aircraft in U.S. airspace
concerned the government, as the timing of the sightings coincided with the societal panic
induced by the Red Scare. Air Force investigators quickly grew irritated of pursuing nonsensical
UFO civilian reports for a 15 year period. In 1966, the Air Force contracted a group of scientists to
research all aspects related to UFOs in an effort expedite the conclusion of Project Blue Book. The
committee of independent scientists led by Edward Condon published a report... Show more content

detecting component of the system, capable of electronically detecting UAVs from long ranges.
The radar s ability to spot potential threats from large distances allows preparation time to neutralize
the threat. The most efficient countermeasure against UAVs is jamming the operator s connection
to the device, and then intercepting the signal to overtake control of the drone. The dual component
defense mechanism is ideal for the current technological landscape, as it readily identifies and

Food In The Elizabethan Era
Food of the Elizabethan Time
People s food of the Elizabethan time period depended on their social status and their financial
abilities while malnutrition, diseases, and deficiencies made it harder for them to find food. The
rich and the poor both had high risks of deficiencies because of the lack of sanitary foods and
places and lack of nutrients. The food consumed varied depending on wealth and social class. In the
Medieval period meat was a sign of wealth which carried over into the Elizabethan era. New
inventions and the rapidly growing industries contributed into the new food of this time.

The food was generally purchased from small markets and fairs in the area. After being cut and
cleaned, meat was sold in large livestock markets. In larger cities such as London, the food was
sold in bigger, specific markets that sold fish, dairy, or fruits and vegetables. After purchasing,
the food was brought home and cooked usually over an open flame by baking, boiling, salting,
smoking, or frying. Pots, pans, skillets, cauldrons, and kettles were popular cooking utensils.
Food preparation and appearance was most important to the rich, especially Elizabeth s cooks.
Although feasts and banquets had an expectation to withhold, food was prepared much like
what is seen today They would use props and bright colors to arrange the food in an appeasing way.
Peacocks feathers were used to make the food, arranged in shapes to satisfy one s eye, look better.

  • 3. Tertiary Proteins Globular . The 3 D tertiary structure of polypeptide proteins globular and is the result of interactions that occur between R groups. Tertiary structure is a result of the bonds between sidechains of amino acids, the R groups. The structure and bonds involve alpha helices, beta pleated sheets, and also regions unique to each protein. Tertiary proteins are held together by four different types of forces; hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions (including Van der Waals interactions), ionic bonding (electrostatic interactions), and disulfide bridges (strong covalent bonds). Hydrogen bonds occur within and between polypeptide chains and the aqueous environment. Hydrogen bonding forms between a highly electronegative oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom and a hydrogen atom attached to another oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom. This links the amino acid... This disrupts the cell and the cell will make another healthy PrPc in its place. This is how the disease unfolds. The cell replaces the healthy protein that has become unhealthy PrPSc; only for it to then be converted to unhealthy. PrPSc eventually converts all healthy PrPc proteins to PrPSc. PrPSc; the misfolded and unhealthy prion acts as its own chaperone. Proteosomes exist to destroy proteins that misfold. Our defense mechanisms do not recognize the PrPSc as foreign and therefore do not destroy it. It continues to proliferate as it turns PrPc to PrPSc. Since PrPSc is hydrophobic it tends to hide from water and turn inward and clump together in the cells. This is called aggregation. Eventually the PrPSc overtakes and kills the cell and leave the appearance of tissues looking spongy. New cells do not grow in dead cells place and PrPSc finds new cells to invade as the disease progresses (Cobb Surewicz, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This weakened every branch of the military by limiting it to a less diverse and therefore less flexible fighting force. 1. History of the U.S. Military a. Leader in social matters i. This simple act should not be overlooked. It was possibly the first time that any high ranking political figure had gone out their way to ensure that blacks were not mistreated and was seen by many as a bold and risky move on Lincoln s part. Not everyone was welcome in the U.S. military. Women in particular were heavily restricted. Women could only serve as nurses and then nowhere near an active combat zone. Black women, who could not formally join the Army, nonetheless served as nurses, spies, and scouts, the most famous being Harriet Tubman. When the Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed scout and spy for the 2nd South Carolina Volunteers. She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war for America. She led a Union raid on the Combahee River in the interior of South Carolina on June 2, 1863. This single raid was credited with freeing over 750 slaves was a humiliating blow to the Southern cause and a major morale booster for the North. Tubman will always be remembered for her role in the Underground Railroad but her service to the military in a time of war should never be forgotten. The history of black soldiers did not change much until December 7th 1941. On that terrible day forces of the Japanese Imperial Navy attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. • 5. Relationship Between A Parent And Child Relationship Throughout history human behavior has held a continuing fascination for artists of all kinds. The way in which human beings relate to one another has been a source of inspiration to painters, sculptors, authors, composers, playwrights, filmmakers and photographers alike. Relationships between people vary from the everyday dynamics and the significance in which they value one another and each connection between those relationships makes a different impact on the one of someone else. There are many relationships people form throughout their lives, for instance the primary relationships at the start of their lives, between parent and child, and siblings, which start in the home. A relationship between a parent and child has a special unspoken bond in which they share indescribable love, never ending care and affection for each other, as the parent is the only depended and reliable thing they have. A good parent and child relationship can teach a child how to form other bonds with mutual respect and admiration, such as friendships further on in life. As people grow and develop, they form secondary connections such as friendships and intimate relationships. Friendships are predominantly built on trust, even as young children. Interaction with peers helps to strengthen character and introduces a sense of belonging with others rather than family. Children are naturally trusting, which means they form bonds with one another instinctively. As they get older and gain knowledge, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Capital Asset Pricing Model defines the relevant risk of an individual stock as the amount of risk that the stock contributes to the market portfolio (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250). The risk of a stock can be measured by its beta. The higher the beta of a stock, the higher the risk. Stocks with a beta below one are less volatile than the market while stocks with a beta of greater than one are more volatile than the market. Well diversified portfolios include a stocks with both high and low betas (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2014, p. 250). According to Yahoo Finance, Ford s beta as of December 3, 2016 is 1.22 (Yahoo Finance ... If those volumes decrease dramatically, as they did with the economic disruption in 2007, there is the potential that some automobile manufactures will not survive (Ferraras, 2014). Silas Marner was an awe inspiring book, which broadened my mind into the wonders of the nineteenth century, including the ups and downs of family life in the village and still being fairy tale story. Although it was difficult to read and it had a vast vocabulary of nineteenth century language I still understood the plot and gained a lot from it. • 10. Essay on The Decline of Indentures Servitude The decline of indentured servitude and the rise of chattel slavery were caused by economic factors of the English settlers in the late 17th century. Colonists continually tried to allure laborers to the colony. The head right system was to give the indentured servant a method of becoming independent after a number of years of service. Colonists chiefly relied on Indentured Servitude, in order to facilitate their need for labor. The decreasing population combined with a need for a labor force, led colonists to believe that African slaves were the most efficient way to acquire a labor force that would satisfy their needs. Africans were economically better, due to British control of the slave trade making black labor cheaper.# In the 1600 s, tobacco became the main source of income for most of the colonists. The economic prosperity of the colonies was primarily dependent on the amount of tobacco produced. The growing of tobacco needed large amount of land, with a large stable work force. The increased demand for a large, stable work force combined with the availability and low price of African slaves, led to the use of slavery in the colonies. To the planter, slavery was the ideal form of labor that would be most beneficial to productivity of his crop.# The key factor to the shift to African chattel slavery was the revolt known as Bacon s Rebellion in 1676. Bacon was an English aristocrat who just came to Virginia Due to a disagreement with royal governor William Berkeley, he gathered support from both white and black indentured servants and began a series of revolts against the governor and the landowners. These revolts just added to the preference for black labor and slavery. Even though Bacon died before anything could happen, the threat of such a biracial alliance challenging the power of the master class prompted the colony s elite to switch to an enslaved black labor force. The demand for black slaves rose and this caused an increase of Africans into the colonies. • 11. The Five Characteristics Of The Five Sources Of Power A leader has many important characteristics. One of these important characteristics is power. Without power, leaders would not be able to influence their followers to achieve their goals ethically. There are five main sources of power for leaders. The influence that leaders have using these sources could be either negative or positive. My Research to Answer the Question: In 1959 John French and Bertram Raven stated significant theories regarding the source of power in their article The Bases of Power and suggested that there are five sources of power. These sources are placed into Organizational Powers and Personal Powers. Organizational Power contains Legitimate, Coercive, and Reward power while Personal Power contains Expert and Referent power or Connections power (Merchant., n.d.). Raven then added another power source called Informational power six years later (Prescott, 2015). Other sources of power that are not part of the theory that French and Raven stated are Moral power and Political power. Legitimate power, also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for this to happen, the followers must believe that the leader has the ability to what he or she is threatening to do (Leadership Power, n.d.). Thus, this power gives the leader control over behaviors and causes the employees to stick to the rules and guidelines of the organization but it could also cause the followers to be unhappy (Prescott, 2015). • 12. Key Factors Of Successful Mitigation Projects Throughout... Problem Statement Emergency managers in the United States have it easy compared to individuals who work in the developing world. Although challenges like limited budgets or political will may be universal problems, in places like Uganda, they are magnified. These areas are home to the most vulnerable populations. Where poverty, little to no infrastructure or government services, and a lack of access to education, create the potential for a disaster to inflict deviating damage. Mitigation programs have the greatest potential for reducing the impact of such events. However, unlike the United States, these countries often times don t have the resources to establish and maintain many types of mitigation programs. As the world has started to become a globalized community, many industrialized nations have recognized this need, and want to provide aid to these countries. Because of the reality that this aid has its limits, and that every aid dollar is precious, it is important to be able to maximize the return on this investment. This Research project will identify key factors of successful mitigation projects throughout the developing world in order to establish a set of guidelines for future projects. With these guidelines, valuable time and resources will be saved and mitigation projects will have maximum impact on the communities they serve. This is not only a way of developing low cost projects to developing nations, but it is a way of insuring that investors in these types ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first and foremost of those differences being how the members of each civilizations made their living. The Ancient Egyptians were mostly farmers, or laborers, while the people of the Byzantine Empire were mostly traders, builders, tutors, and doctors. They also had a more scientific aspects of their religion such as psychiatry, herbology, and medicine. Contrarily, the religion of Byzantium wa much more predetermined, standard, and while being Christianity at the specific time of those people, their religion is very similar to that of today s Christianity. They were monotheistic, meaning they only worshipped one god, unlike the Ancient Egyptians. They followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, also viewing him as the son of God, and the messiah promised in the Old Testament. • 14. Human Security And National Security Too often, the notion/concept of national security is misinterpreted and made too narrow. It s a common belief of many that national security only entails the protection of states borders from outside threats. In recent times, this seems to not be the case, since the dangers that states faces now threatens the life of the individual, therefore, protection of the citizens, their wellbeing, and the laws of the land becomes a priority which links it or makes it human security. States like the US are adjusting their foreign policies to fit this new human security as national security approach. Also, with the world becoming a small global village, states are using less military force to settle dispute. They are reducing the amount of violence they use against one another. Everyone seems to be embracing the notion of peace rather than war and I believe this is so because nations do not want to go back to the hostility and instability of the Cold Warera. Using the United Statesforeign policies (past and current) regarding terrorism, I will be analyzing how they fit or do not fit into the spectrum of human security as national security. According to Roland Paris, human security does not have one explicit definition. Different nations and organization define this concept differently; each according to its view, policies, interests, and goals. Paris compared the concept to standard developmental goals, in the sense that though most (if not all) nations desire it, only a few knows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upbringing Of Humanism In The Renaissance Upbringing of Humanism In the Middle Ages, in medieval Europe, rural life had been governed by a feudalistic society, the king granted large pieces of land called fiefs to noblemen and bishops. The Renaissance, also known as the rebirth which started in Italy, was a period between the 14th and 16th century where new ideas were born through the revival of the classical art and intellect of Ancient Greece and Rome. Following the plague of the 14th and 15the centuries the Renaissance was fueled by soldiers returning from the Crusades. There became a renewed interest in Greek and Roman art, humans became included in art pieces, not just depictions of religious or holy topics. Although the Middle Ages and Renaissance were similar through the usage of classic greco roman literature, there were more differences between the two eras because the Renaissance was more Humanistic shown through the advancements in artistic importance, education and literary enhancements using the printing press. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance the importance of art was relevant, however, the different styles and amounts of importance differentiated greatly to the point where it outweighed their similarities. This can be seen in the variety of religions that have sprung up over time and gained large followings. When analyzing the founding and spread of Buddhism, Sikhism, Confucianism, and Hinduism, it is evident that although there are many distinguishing differences between the four religions, there are multiple similarities that link them all with each other. The word Buddhism is derived from the word budhi , to awaken, so it makes sense that the creation of the religion begins with its founder s awakening. It is said that Buddhism started in the 6th century due to the actions of its founder, Siddhartha Gautama, the wealthy warrior son of a king and queen in Lumbini (now Nepal). When Siddhartha was young, a soothsayer predicted that he would become a renouncer and his father showered him in luxuries, hoping to change this prediction. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward one s young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two different experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioningapproach. Classical condition was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a response is elicited by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied rats with varying degrees of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested in both articles. Overall, there are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In rats, each cycle lasts about four to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016). Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis. In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given birth to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care of their young or lactating. • 40. Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola Essay At a time when humanist thinkers occupied themselves with determining man s position in the world, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, in the 15th century Oration on the Dignity of Man, asserted that man is master of both his dignity and destiny, and there was no limit to what scientists may achieve as long as they glorify God in the end. World history teaches that, though scientists might begin research with the intent of glorifying God , the rush to advance in scienceand technology and the fever to uncover the wonders of nature result in hubris and the abandonment of God and the subsequent exaltation of human beings God like properties. Scientists throughout the centuries have held differing opinions about the limits humans should impose on science: whereas Pico della Mirandolabelieved science was to be used for the glorification of God, but never for the imposition of man on God s will; Sir Francis Bacon, writing 150 years later, believed that any scientific experimentation or means which justified the end goal of human perfection were acceptable, even if they interfered with God s creations. In the 21st century, ethicists and scientists from around the world propose that science should be allowed to continue with broad moral checks; science is not inherently good or... Factors that has an effect on conformity can be culture, age, gender or larger group size. Zimbardo, Johnson, Hamilton (2014) explained that culture includes language, beliefs, customs, values and traditions. • 45. Reality Boy Theme Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King. Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of 10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality Boy by A.S. At this educator s program, students who have misbehave loose the privilege of using their favorite toy. Many early childhood educators can see that, after the child has learned cause and effect, the child minimizes the behavior to avoid losing privileges.
