Chemiluminol Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract During the experiment, there were two tasks performed; the synthesization of luminol and the
display of chemiluminescence. The starting material used was 5 nitro 2,3 dihydrophthalazine 1,4
dione, and after the addition of NaOH, sodium hydrosulfite, acetic acid and water, we were left with
the product of crude luminol.1 Then, the crude luminol was dissolved into a stock solution that
contained NaOH.1 That stock solution A was then diluted with water, which turned it into solution A.1
That solution was then combined with solution B, a mixture made from potassium ferricyanide and
hydrogen peroxide then diluted with water, which allowed us to observe the blue light emission that
was chemiluminescence.1

The Catcher in the Rye as a Coming-of-Age Story Essay
The Catcher in the Rye can be read as a coming of age story. How does Holden s Character change or
mature during the course of the novel? To what extent are there TWO Holden Caulfields in the book,
and what is the difference between them? The novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger is a
coming of age story. It follows the short tale of Holden Caulfield, a sixteen year old boy, who
throughout his experiences in the novel, changes and becomes more mature and independent. The
story essentially has two Holden Caulfields, the one telling the story, and the one that the story is
being told about. This essay will look at the differences and similarities between the two Holden s . It
is obvious that the Holden Caulfield who is in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The self narration of Holden s life is what gives the reader an insight into the way he thinks and feels.
It helps you understand why Holden is the way he is. Without this explanation from him, you wouldn t
empathise with him, or like him very much at all. It s the little stories he tells, like the story about
Allies baseball mitt, ...Allie had this left handed fielders mitt... he had poems written all over the
fingers and the pocket and everywhere. In green ink. (Salinger, 1945 6, p.33) or about how he knows
Jane Gallagher, You were never even worried, with Jane, whether your hand was sweaty or not. All
you knew was, you were happy. You really were (Salinger, 1945 6, p.72) that make you see the softer
side to him. Holden s connection with his little brother Allie was very special to him. This is evident in
the way he talks about Allie. He holds Allie up to these great expectations, saying You d have liked
him (Salinger, 1945 6, p.33) and convincing you how great he was and how intelligent and special he
was. You are now able to connect and sympathise for Holden, because he has told you all about the
things that mean most to him, and you can t help but feel a little sorry for him. Although there are
essentially two Holdens, there are still traits that remain the same. Throughout the story, Holden feels
the need to explain and justify himself, as though people don t believe him. Holden tells the story

Sickle Cell Disease ( Ocd )
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited autosomal recessive condition that causes the red blood cells
(RBCs) to be crescent shaped. Sickle cell disease occurs in 1 out of every 400 African Americans
births (Field, et al 2009). And according to the Centers of Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), 1
out of 13 African American babies are born with the sickle cell trait (SCT). At the same time SCD is
present in only 1 out of 300 Caucasian babies, thus it is considered to be one of the most prevalent
genetic health disparities affecting people of African, Indian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean decent
(Kotch, et al 2000).
In order for a person to have this disease, both parents have to carry the Sickle Cell Trait. This trait is
given to the parents by their parents in which one of them has the sickle cell gene S and the other has
the normal A gene. Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately
diagnosed by the age of 6 months old.
Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially
through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while
flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the
tissues and organs. This monogenetic disease is caused by a point mutation in the β globin gene that
creates abnormal Hemoglobin S (HbS). There are five different haplotypes for SCD that are classified
by their geographical region

Plato Dualism
Dualism is the division of two entities. However, in the case of philosophy, dualism is expanded upon
this definition and is focused on the separation of the mind and the body. There are several different
types of dualism that deal with the mind and body. There are substance dualists and property dualists
and within these different types of dualism, there are more subcategories within them. For instance, in
the substance dualism, there are interactionists, occasionalists, parallelists, and epiphenomenalists. All
of these subcategories believe that the mind is not the same as the brain and that the mind is not a
creation of the brain. Plato and Descartes believed in these two common features of dualism as well.
Although they had similar approaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes used Leibniz s Law of Identity to prove that the mind and the body are considered to be
different because they didn t have the same properties. The Leibniz s Law of Identity states that if two
articles have identical properties, then the articles must be identical. The same can be said if the
articles were not identical. Descartes had used the property of divisibility to illustrate the difference
between the body and the mind. For instance, when one loses an arm, it is theoretically possible for
the rest of the body to still exist. However, divisibility is difficult to use when it comes to the mind.
For instance, it is impossible for someone to feel half depressed. The mind cannot be divided up like
how a body can. Another property that is different between the mind and the body is the ability to take
up space. Since the body has the capacity to take up volume and a mind does not have this capacity,
they are considered to have different property. Thus, the differences allow the mind and body to be
separate

Camp David Accords Research Paper
In 1978, the Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and the Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin
signed the Camp David Accords. The signing of the accords was followed by a formal peace treaty
between Israel and Egypt in March of 1979. Both the Israeli and Egyptian took significant risks and
while many parties seemed to favor the peace deal, there were still segments of the society which
either were skeptical or disapproved. Most notably, a group of Arab leaders known as the
Steadfastness Front attempted to oppose the deal and considered Sadat s actions as traitorous. (Central
Intelligence Agency) Sadat was also met with strong movements against him following the
announcement of the deal from his own people, and he was assassinated in 1981. Sadat risked much
on the possibility of peace between their people, a peace that has managed to persist to this day, ...

The history of modern Egypt begins with the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the interference of
the French and British in 1798. Following the British claim of South Africa, a move designed to stop
French access to East Asia, Napoleon was directed to take control of Egypt with the intention of
building a canal to circumvent British South Africa. While the French conquest of Egypt was
unsuccessful, it did result in Muhammad Ali s assignment by the Ottoman Sultan to the region. Ali
established himself and over the course of the early 1800s managed to carve out a significant standing
in Egypt and implemented many reforms that helped to push Egypt ahead of much of the Ottoman
Empire as the Suez Canal brought money and western influence into the region. By 1882, the British
had taken control of Egypt from the Ottomans, with their focus on protecting the canal. However,
rising Arab nationalism prompted the British to grant independence in 1922 establishing the Kingdom
of Egypt which existed until

Gospel Of Luke Wealth
In the Gospel of Luke, heaven is signified by Jesus Kingdom and can be entered even by those who
sin as long as they repent their sins. Jesus informs human beings that in order to enter his kingdom,
you must be a righteous person at the time of death. The themes of love, wealth, and poverty embrace
Jesus teachings. He states explicitly that you must love thy enemy like you love thy neighbor in order
to be allowed into Heaven. You must bless them, care for them and when stricken on the cheek you
must offer up the other one. In order to love thy neighbor, Jesus tells human beings that they must,
[take] pity on him (Luke 10:35 25 37). Rather than ignore a half dead man like the Priest and Levite,
you must be merciful in order to, love your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tells humans that, each tree is known by its own fruit , implying that you are loved by Jesus
through your actions rather than your possessions. Any man can do good to someone who does good
to him, but only a good heart can produce good treasure. The theme of love continues to connect with
the themes of poverty and wealth throughout the Gospel of Luke. Rather than being contempt with a
life full of greed, Jesus wants you to share your wealth because, you cannot serve both God and
Money. In order to enter the Kingdom, you must do things for others rather than yourself. If you do
what is righteous you will be blessed and repaid in the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus pronounces in
chapter 12 of Luke that, a man s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. No matter
how much wealth you have, you are no different than a man who has nothing if you are not kind
hearted. Chapter 12 of Luke ties back to the golden rule stated in chapter 6, line 31; do to other as you
would have them to do to you , If you want to enter Jesus Kingdom you must share your wealth rather
than build a bigger barn and take life easy. If you become choked by life s worries, riches, and
pleasures then you have not retained the word of Jesus and you must not have, a noble and good heart
, therefore, you cannot enter Jesus Kingdom because you have ears that do not hear. The theme of love

Political System Vs Nightwatchman
The state function is to maintain ways/regulations in which a country runs. Whereas, the government
can change political parties based on electoral results giving directions in how the state will run. The
state has four essential departments which are legislative, executive administrative, and judicial;
however, Canada follows the parliamentary system, and the USA support the congressional scheme.
Although they both hold the same departments the distribution of power is different. The
Nightwatchman were people, mainly men holding a political position with substantial business
interests looking to increase their capital. Hence their profiteering took precedence over the welfare of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Shopping In Store
In the era of rapid development of information technology, online shopping into people s life,
especially young people. Online shopping is a blow to the store, so people would compare the
advantages and the disadvantages between shopping for goods online and buying goods in store. I
think they have their own advantages and disadvantages, and online shopping and shopping in store
are both important.
The advantage of shopping in a store is to choose the quality of the goods on the spot. People all went
to shops to buy goods before online shopping is not in vogue, in store, people can see the real goods,
the problem can be solved at that time, if there is the fake goods that can be immediately returned. In
store, people also can try to use the goods, especially clothes and shoes, people can put them on and
know whether the size fits well or not. For people who like shopping in a store, those people who
shopping in stores give them keen enjoyment, they can communicate with their friends and relax on
market, at that they could buy some suitable goods. They can see the goods in stores and compare
with other ones so that they can decide which one to buy. This is a very effective way. (Marc L.

security risks when using credit cards online. Because your information is entered into a company s

Symbols Found in Nathaniel Hawthrone´s The Scarlet Letter
It is a curious subject of observation and inquiry, whether hatred and love be not the same thing at
bottom. Each, in its utmost development, supposes a high degree of intimacy and heart knowledge;
each renders one individual dependent for the food of his affections and spiritual life upon another;
each leaves the passionate lover, or the no less passionate hater, forlorn and desolate by the withdrawal
of his object. (page 412 chapter 24) The reoccurring deteriorating scaffold Pearl Prynne, and the
rosebush and ugly weeds are reoccurring symbols in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter.
Hawthorne s characters symbolically transform the scaffold from beginning to end of the novel. Next
the three scaffold scenes physically deteriorate with an underlying symbolic tone. Finally, the
symbolic use of the scaffold throughout The Scarlet Letter leaves a lasting impression of its readers.
The scaffold in the scarlet letter is a structure in the middle of Boston during the 17th century that was
used as a tool of torture used against people who have committed sins. They stood upon it for hours at
a time in front of the public being judged for what they did wrong.
Pearl kissed his lips. A spell was broken. The great scene of grief, in which the wild infant bore a
party, had developed all her sympathies; and as her tears fell upon her father s cheek, they were the
pledge that she would grow up amid human joy and sorrow, nor forever do battle with the world, but

Film Analysis Of Amour Essay Theme
Hiroshima Mon Amour was directed by Alain Resnais and had a script written by Marguerite Duras,
who was an author and gave the film a book like feel. This made you feel as if you were reading a
story, one of the best ways this is conveyed is through the voiceovers she has. The film takes place in a
time period of a post war Hiroshima Japan, and the setting, as well as the time period, plays a major
part in this film, by showing the audience views a war torn country as it rebuilds and rebrands itself.
As well as how those affected remember or forget the tragedy that shook their city. The main themes
explored in this film are the relation of memory and forgetfulness, love and death, he and she being

And do we also have a duty to keep these events alive so that we pay respect to the ones that lost their
lives? War is a complicated topic, and the basis of memory and forgetting resonating throughout that
makes it even more of a difficult subject. Can remembering events cause more harm if we are not
remembering the events in the full effect, and how do we differentiate our personal feelings from just
laying out the facts of what actually occurred? In reality everyone experiences war and tragic events
differently. and there is no clear way to remember those events. However trying to understand the
aspect of memory and forgetfulness, is very well explained in this film and brings light to just how
confusing the subject war and everything that comes along with it can be.
Most individuals do not want to remember tragic events, but what if tragic events make it hard to
remember, or make it difficult to chose what you want to remember? According to the scholarly
journal over History, Memory, and Forgetting translated by Sheena Caldwell, states that individuals do
not have a full control over their memories and those memories can be impulsive. Because tragic
events are removed from selective memory, which means you are unable to control what you
remember. This could explain why she had a breakdown in the bar when she tried to open up to he .

Reflection Paper On Cycling
One must be willing to persevere through tough times in order to reach the good times. On September
17, last weekend, I earned what I consider to be my best race result in my young cycling career. After
a high speed crash in the road race the day before, I managed to bounce back and earned a third place
in the Pensacola Cycling Classic pro / one / two criterium. This perfectly exemplifies one of the many
life lessons that cycling has taught me over the course of the past five years. I would have never
learned these lessons, had I not received my first road bike in 2012. My bike has given me more than I
ever thought was possible. I have found a passion and a niche that has engulfed my life, and I love
every second of it. I have made friends from California, all the way to the far reaches of Maine. I have
suffered through the high desert of Bend, Oregon and labored up the mountains of Greenville, South
Carolina. I have experienced the high of screaming down a mountain at fifty miles an hour, filling
your lungs with dread, but making your heart feel as if it is floating. These people I have met, places I
have been, and feelings I have felt have molded me into a modge podge of regional cultures. In fact,
this modge podge will become international, as I will be traveling to Odense, Denmark to race for
Team USA in 2018. This will be yet another once in a lifetime opportunity, all thanks to cycling.
During my early years of racing, I was able to succeed without a large

Recommendations for Cima Mountaineering:
There are essentially following five options available to Cima Mountaineering as explained below:
Alternative 1: Maintain status quo. This option is not being selected because it ignores the current
market trends in the face of changing customer needs and wants. Also such an option does not address
any of the issues presently facing Cima.
Alternative 2: Enter the Weekender segment as suggested by Margaret Simon. This option appears to

Let s now look a bit closely to the selected alternative. There are a number of challenges surrounding
this alternative, the biggest of which may be the widening of the focus area for the company and
spreading of the valuable management resources. It is, however, expected that the Company will
overcome such challenges through use of Anthony and Margaret s level of experience in the field and
their willingness to hire knowledgeable staff when necessary, as evidenced in the case study material.
Another significant concern in adopting this alternative is the apparent cost involved in a combination
strategy. It is proposed to tackle this concern in multiple ways as under: * Though the number of Boot
Styles to be developed will be more in this case, there will be many common expenses in their
development. * It is proposed improve and fasten the development process thro use of not only the
modern techniques and design practices but by putting one or more carefully selected and focused
cross functional teams having leadership and co ordination skills and dedicated to design creativity,
simplicity and speed . * It is proposed to employ the Concurrent Engineering Techniques where the
development teams will work in parallel rather than in sequence to achieve faster, better and more
economical results. * Lastly, the company appears able to borrow sufficient funds to develop,
manufacture and market additional designs.

An Analysis of Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1
One of the most appealing elements of Shakespeare s works is that, despite subject matter that is
hardly realistic in today s general society, the heart of each play retains much in terms of human
relationships, central conflicts, and humor. For the scholar the sheer poetry and beauty of Shakespeare
s language remain appealing. Hence, in a play like Henry IV, Part 1, the subject matter of royalty and
civil war from an interesting and dramatic backdrop to more common themes like the conflicts
between personal affection and the duties a person such as Prince Harry is expected to fulfill. As such,
Harry s person affection for Falstaff is ultimately overridden by his drive to regain the admiration and
affection of his father in the name of his concept of honor not only to the palace, but also to England
as a whole. As such, Harry claims that his affection for Falstaff and his roguish world was simply
appearance in order to more prominently return to the world of duty that he knows is his right and
destiny, which could, in today s terms, be viewed as ultimately dishonorable. When the play opens, the
young Prince Harry s major relationship is with the old and fat knight, Sir Falstaff. The knight,
however, is hardly representative of any type of knighthood that might be expected from a person of
the order. Instead, he is representative of the world of the tavern, where thieves and generally lower
class members of society gather and pass the time either with idle chatter or

Persuasive Essay On Advertising
Television, newspaper, social media; no one can escape advertisements. They consume our world and
affect us everyday. Persuading, grabbing attention, or enticing their audience to buy explains the
overall goal of advertisers. In an ad published by the Network Advertising of Mumbai, India in May
2010, it uses the model of persuasion to discuss a highly controversial topic. By using a visual that
involves a little boy trapped inside the two fingers of a smoker, the Network Advertising of Mumbai,
India uses this image as an attempt to convince smokers that smoking becomes only a pleasure for
you, but poison for your family. This ad uses blank space to draw attention to the main image to tell
the story. A background filled with a dull green has the words written Smoking. Pleasure For You.
Poison For Your Family (Adsarchive). The image shows a little boy trapped inside the two fingers of a
smoker wearing a dingy white shirt and green pants along with no shoes. Could they be dirty from the
cigarettes? Squeezed by a discolored hand of a smoker, the young child expresses a look of depression
across his face. All of the colors in this ad associate with the feelings of the heartbroken and
seriousness. In this advertisement, an ethos, logos and pathos appeal show throughout. In white bold
letters, Quit Smoking Now (Adsarchive) stands out with a red background, catching any viewer s
attention. Using the stopping color red, the company tries to convince, or use ethos as a way

The Short Story Nethergrave By Tim Berners-Lee
Internet. The Internet is a vast place full of the world s information as well as false information. The
first prototype of the Internet, ARPANET, was invented in the early 1960 s as a platform to easier

The Internet as we know it today is a very diverse place, almost like a virtual library. You have your

Essay about The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
The killer angels is a world acclaimed novel that was written by an author known as Michael Shaara.
In the year 1975, it was granted the Pulitzer Prize for creative writing. It gives us in details the
occurrences of the four days in the Battle of Gettysburg. This was during the American Civil War that
occurred in the year 1863. At this time, troops that comprised of both the Union and Confederacy were
at war in town called Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. This is a piece of story that is driven by disposition
and narrated from the point of view of various heroes (Hartwig, 1996).

The book therefore interchanges through the north and south in all the chapters. Different forces are
portrayed in the novel and all their movements described. The experiences that they also undergo are
an accurate depiction of the situation at the time the Gettysburg war occurred. The book manages to
get into the minds of the heroes in the novel. We are shown a byplay of General Longstreet and Lee on
the southern part, the way the former s view of the latter takes a change during the period of the war
and by large the authority that General Lee commands over his men in the army. In the north, we are

The plot of the book seems so relevant and true in relation to the historical context it is set in. This is

Ravers Persuasive Essay
According to ravers, raves are an evolutionary type of party that everyone should experience. In a
society that is constantly changing, raves have come to be a part of evolution. It s been told that raves
started out as a secretive late after hour parties held in clubs, commercial buildings, and even private
homes for invited guests only. Its popularity did not uncover until the early 1990 s. Drugs are a big
part of raves, approximately 90% of the people that attended raves are under the influence of some
kind of drug. In the very beginning acid and marijuana were the most common drugs until the
appearance of ecstasy. Ravers simply call ecstasy by its short name E or X. The market price ranges

The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay
The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals the
collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking phenomenon
encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of geometries and in
various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver. Under certain
circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering and absorption and
an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based upon calculations, Neeves and
Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a dielectric core and a metallic shell could
produce SPR modes with a much larger range of wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by
Zhou et al. In the 1990 s. They used a Au2S core surrounded by a gold shell. Variations of these shells
made it possible to shift the standard gold colloid plasmon resonance peak from ~520 nm up to ~900
nm. There was a limit however, of less than 40 nm on the size of nanoshell that they could achieve due
to the chemistry of their synthesis reactions. The process also produced large amounts of gold colloid
as a secondary product which gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas and coworkers
synthesized a new type of gold nanoshell that overcame many of the limitations of the Au2S core type
nanoshell. The new method replaced the Au2S core with a silica core and made it possible to exert

Interviewing a few of moderators in this community gave insight into how it operated. One member of
the group noted two key roles involved in running the administrative side of the community. These
two roles may sound similar, but they have striking differences that make their variation requisite to
the success of the community. The higher of the two being the Administrative, position or the admin
for short. The second role is the Moderator, or mod. During normal operation, these roles share many
of the same responsibilities of each other. That is, until one important event causes the significant

Contrast this with the role of the administrator. During high time, the administrators are focusing on
what the future of the group will hold. To conceptualize this, they will be participating in the social
image of the community. This may entail advertisements, interview results, website review, and
magazine publications. They ll be the ones imagining, after this event dies down, what will our group
look like? What will we stand for after it is complete? Who will we be? Together, these two roles are
the scaffolding for the governance of this community.
There are a few other roles below the moderator and administrator position, which play less of a role
in the administration of the group. The one such role to note is the community s database of
information editors. These individuals are assigned the role after speaking specifically to an admin
who will ask what section of the database they are interested in contributing to. The users are put on a
trial as well where all of their initial posts are reviewed prior to full release. Once they have access,
they are given the task to documenting pertinent information to the subject they ve been assigned. The
user will learn about proper documentation techniques, and will become an elder within the topic.

Case Study On Cheese
INTRODUCTION:
Cheese is a very popular food in daily life. Cheese is a solid food made from milk. It is usually white
or yellow. Cheese, one of which is also known as cheese, is a fermented dairy product that is similar in
properties to regular yogurt and is made by a fermentation process that also contains hygienic lactic
acid bacteria but at a higher concentration of cheese than yogurt, Similar to the solid food, so the
nutritional value is more abundant. Each kilogram of cheese products is concentrated from 10
kilograms of milk, rich in protein, calcium, fat, phosphorus and vitamins and other nutrients is a

As Russia s ban on the import of dairy products, the demand for dairy products has dropped
dramatically, reducing the cost of placing cheese on the shelves in the British hypermarket. However,
the study found that supermarkets charged more than 12 months ago, indicating that retailers are
getting extra profits at the expense of their customers.
TARGET MARKET: The main target markets for cheese are commercial customers and household. In
regard to the sake of commercial customers, because their lives are fast, and nowadays most
restaurants offer fast food, cheese in fast foods is almost essential. For example, there is cheese in a
McDonald s hamburgers, so the restaurants daily need cheese. On the other hand, children and young
people now like to eat snacks or eat breakfast, such as cheese biscuits and sandwiches. In addition,
parents are now interested in bringing their children to make their own food with cheese (Rumman,

The Architecture Of Gothic Literature And The Romantic Era
Today s literature and the way is expressed is greatly influenced by the literature of the Romantic Era
which the Gothic literature had part on. The Gothic Literature is build by how the authors convey the
feelings of horrors to the readers through the imagination of the reader which can be expanded
through the reading. Gothic Literature is strongly influenced by the architecture of haunted places,
which gives off the aura of horror and terror in the reading in order to give these feelings to the
readers. Although many things come to play in the architecture of the Gothic literature, doors are an
essential way to gives off this aura, where doors lead to uncertain places which unexpected things can
happen at anytime; examples of this kind are Ann Radcliffe s work The Romance of the Forest and
Horace Walpole s work The Castle of Otranto . Both stories contain characters that experience the
thrill of entering new places that are lead by an unusual door, which gives the readers clues at what
kind of feelings this type of literature is based. An example in The Romance of the Forest is when
Adeline is curious about what the door that she discovers leads to. A mystery seems to hang over these
chambers... which it is, perhaps, my lot to develope; I will, at least, see to what that door leads
(Radcliffe 600). This shows that the character has the boldness of entering a new room she never
encounter before. Additionally, in The Castle of Otranto , Isabella has a similar

Why Should A Health Information Professional Possess A...
Ch. 1 review questions #1 Why should a health information professional possess a fundamental
understanding of the law? Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of the duty
and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and security. It also
allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break the law. #2 Does a
single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the rules governing health
information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are divided into federal, state and
local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court systems, all three different levels. This
makes it impossible for all law relating health information to ascend from a single source. #5 Explain
the concepts of stare decisis and res judicata. Stare decisis to let the decision stand operates in a
pyramid type fashion and is the doctrine that judicial decisions stand as precedent for cases arising in
the future. It is a fundamental policy of our law that, except in unusual circumstances, a court s
determination on a point of law will be followed by courts of the same or lower rank in later cases
presenting the same legal issue, even though different parties are involved and any years have elapsed.
Res Judicata a thing or matter settled by judgement ; in other words, the thing that has been decided.

I Am A College Student
I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about a
year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring at
stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment hanging
o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of
depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is
important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most
people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how
expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring
I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really
expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather
small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same
price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my
room. The point is, however, that we can t discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good
pictures for a really low price I recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. Believe it or
not, you might just find one or two items you like. If all else fails,

Marine Fisheries And Its Impact On The Environment
Marine fisheries make up some of the largest ecosystems/habitats that span from the coastal regions
all the way through the various oceans of the globe. In addition, the habitats and ecosystems of marine
fisheries contain some of the most diverse groups of organisms worldwide just because of the sheer
amount of the planet s surface that the oceans cover. Although the range and diversity of marine
fisheries are vast, they are declining at increasing rates. There are many factors that have led to this
decline which include climate change, pollution, and the introduction of invasive species into
particular habitats. However, the two largest factors behind the collapse of marine fisheries are
directly correlated with human interaction with the marine fisheries. One is the overexploitation by the
fishing industry, while the other is habitat alteration (mainly around the coastal areas) (Layman et. al
2011).
Findings of the Conservation Issue Marine fisheries revenues totaled about $70 billion in the late
1990s and accounted for $13 billion in net exports (Botsford, L.W., et. al., 1997). The total revenues
for marine fisheries today is $91.2 billion This huge industry also supplies a large food source to
populations around the world and is an important source of jobs for many countries. However, almost
half of the world s fish stocks are fully exploited or overexploited. Fisheries management has failed to
reach the one goal of marine fisheries, sustainability.

Teenage Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities
Teen Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities

Teenage pregnancy has been viewed as an issue for many years, not only for teenage mothers but for
babies as well. Much importance has been placed on this subject for the reason that although these
rates are declining, they remain elevated. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen
pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017).
Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social,
educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the
decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few
years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies
across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States
has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have
decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group. (Brown, 2016) It
seems that adolescents are making smarter decisions considering that there is 77% decline in
pregnancy risk. Adolescent pregnancy risk is positively correlated with greater use of condoms by
58% and birth control methods by 39%.

Fox News Equals Media Equals Fear of Death Equals Adultery Malcolm X once said The media s the

innocent, and that s power. Because they control the minds of the masses. The media reaches out to all

Voter Fraud In Elections
In order to vote, American citizens must meet several requirements, and complete the registration
process. To be eligible to vote, at the very least, one must be a US citizen, meet state residency
requirements, and be at least 18 years old ( Register to Vote, n.d.). Efforts have been made over the
course of American history to make voting a more simple and inclusive process, including the Voting
Rights Act of 1965, and the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (Ash Lamperti, 2013, p. 14).
However, the article Elections 2012: Suppressing Fraud or Suppressing the Vote? by Arlene Ash and

Analysis Of The Plastic Pink Flamingos
In Jennifer Price s The Plastic Pink Flamingos: A Natural History, she gives a brief history about the
pink flamingo and its iconic meaning in America s pop culture. In addition to the meaning behind the
pink flamingo, she connects her historical context to reveal her thoughts on American culture. In the
text, Price utilizes historical allusions and extravagant diction and asks us to experience her frustration

Throughout the passage, Price conveys her tone as ironic and sarcastic. She has pointed out her irony
when she said how it was a little ironic since Americans had hunted flamingos to extinction in Florida

since they were hunted for their plumes and meat. This shows that Americans are hypocritical for

due to Americans hunting them. Even in the title, it is ironic because of its contrasting words of plastic
and natural. In connection with tone, Price also uses extravagant diction to mock the prominence of

Wasteness In Snow Country
Snow Country
In the novel Snow Country by Kawabata, the author uses the snow country environment in the book to
bring out the wastefulness experienced by Shimamura in various ways. This is best seen in instances
when Shimamura is able to observe and reflect on activities going on around him while he is engaged
in his surroundings and environment. Komako, an essential part of Shimamura s snow country
experience, helps him experience multiple instances when he notices the wastefulness in her life such
as her useless dairy, wasted love, and effort between the both of them. With regard to Komako,
Shimamura is able to realize the waste in his own life.
Earlier in the novel, Shimamura observes wastefulness when Komako describes that she invests ...

The whole act is a sense of wasted effort, yet to Shimamura who has no where else he needs to be,
prefers to be in the mountains and has to undertake this wasted effort to be in the mountains. To
Shimamura, there is no purpose in climbing to the top of a mountain only to have to go back down
again. In this section of the book, readers discover that Shimamura is indeed actually attracted to
wastefulness. After describing mountain climbing as a model of wasted effort, it is explained that For
that very reason it pulled at him with the attraction of the unreal (112). This can help explain why
Shimamura is so attracted to the snow country, a place difficult to get to and with nothing significant
and meaningful to do, and Komako, an object of lust that portrays experiences of wasted effort.
Shimamura is unique in that he can recognize and accept waste as a large part of his life. He
acknowledges moments of waste yet doesn t seem concerned that it may be detrimental to him. He has
a peculiar attraction to things that can be considered a waste which is why so much that is seen of him
in the books correlates to the waste he

Harper Lee Historical Context

Nelle Harper Lee, better known as Harper Lee, was born on April 28, 1926, in Monroeville, Alabama.
She went on to further her education at Huntington College, University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, and
Oxford University. (Harper). She was the author of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, To Kill A
Mockingbird, that was published in 1960 about a family in Maycomb County in southern Alabama.
She incorporated her mother and father into major points of the novel. She made the main family have
part of her mother s name, Finch, and one of the lesser families have another part of her mother s

Ritualistic Ritual Abuse
Ritualistic child abuse is an extreme form of abuse that includes physical, mental, verbal, and spiritual
abuse which often includes forced sex, repeated practices, child prostitution and child pornography
(Bottoms, Shaver, Goodman, 1996). There are different forms of ritual abuse, some containing aspects
of mind control programming , hypnosis, and/or forced use of a victim as a vessel for a malevolent
demon or spirit. Ritual abuse (RA) consists of conditioning and torture carried out in a ceremonial or
calculated manner for the purpose of effecting control over a victim s mind and behavior (Lacter,
2011). Although survivors have reported various forms of abuse, Lacter (2011) offers a partial list of
forms of ritualistic torture, including sexual abuse and torture; electric shock; forced ingestion of
offensive body fluids and matter, such as blood, urine, feces, flesh, semen, etc.; sensory deprivation;
drugs to create illusion, confusion, and amnesia; forced to witness abuse, torture, and sacrifice of
people and animals, usually with knives; forced participation in child pornography and prostitution;
spiritual abuse to cause victim to feel possessed, harassed, and controlled internally by spirits or
demons; harm or threats of harm to family, friends, loved ones, pets, and other victims, to force
compliance; and many others.
Because Satanic ritual abuse (or SRA) was the first to surface, early definitions of ritual abuse focused
on Satanic aspects (Miller, 2011).

  • 2. Chemiluminol Synthesis Lab Report Abstract During the experiment, there were two tasks performed; the synthesization of luminol and the display of chemiluminescence. The starting material used was 5 nitro 2,3 dihydrophthalazine 1,4 dione, and after the addition of NaOH, sodium hydrosulfite, acetic acid and water, we were left with the product of crude luminol.1 Then, the crude luminol was dissolved into a stock solution that contained NaOH.1 That stock solution A was then diluted with water, which turned it into solution A.1 That solution was then combined with solution B, a mixture made from potassium ferricyanide and hydrogen peroxide then diluted with water, which allowed us to observe the blue light emission that was chemiluminescence.1 Introduction Chemiluminescence ... To what extent are there TWO Holden Caulfields in the book, and what is the difference between them? The novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger is a coming of age story. It follows the short tale of Holden Caulfield, a sixteen year old boy, who throughout his experiences in the novel, changes and becomes more mature and independent. Sickle cell disease occurs in 1 out of every 400 African Americans births (Field, et al 2009). And according to the Centers of Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), 1 out of 13 African American babies are born with the sickle cell trait (SCT). At the same time SCD is present in only 1 out of 300 Caucasian babies, thus it is considered to be one of the most prevalent genetic health disparities affecting people of African, Indian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean decent (Kotch, et al 2000). In order for a person to have this disease, both parents have to carry the Sickle Cell Trait. This trait is given to the parents by their parents in which one of them has the sickle cell gene S and the other has the normal A gene. Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately diagnosed by the age of 6 months old. Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the tissues and organs. This monogenetic disease is caused by a point mutation in the β globin gene that creates abnormal Hemoglobin S (HbS). There are five different haplotypes for SCD that are classified by their geographical region ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Plato Dualism Dualism is the division of two entities. However, in the case of philosophy, dualism is expanded upon this definition and is focused on the separation of the mind and the body. There are several different types of dualism that deal with the mind and body. There are substance dualists and property dualists and within these different types of dualism, there are more subcategories within them. For instance, in the substance dualism, there are interactionists, occasionalists, parallelists, and epiphenomenalists. All of these subcategories believe that the mind is not the same as the brain and that the mind is not a creation of the brain. Plato and Descartes believed in these two common features of dualism as well. Although they had similar approaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes used Leibniz s Law of Identity to prove that the mind and the body are considered to be different because they didn t have the same properties. The Leibniz s Law of Identity states that if two articles have identical properties, then the articles must be identical. The same can be said if the articles were not identical. Descartes had used the property of divisibility to illustrate the difference between the body and the mind. For instance, when one loses an arm, it is theoretically possible for the rest of the body to still exist. However, divisibility is difficult to use when it comes to the mind. For instance, it is impossible for someone to feel half depressed. The mind cannot be divided up like how a body can. Another property that is different between the mind and the body is the ability to take up space. Since the body has the capacity to take up volume and a mind does not have this capacity, they are considered to have different property. Thus, the differences allow the mind and body to be separate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both the Israeli and Egyptian took significant risks and while many parties seemed to favor the peace deal, there were still segments of the society which either were skeptical or disapproved. While the French conquest of Egypt was unsuccessful, it did result in Muhammad Ali s assignment by the Ottoman Sultan to the region. Ali established himself and over the course of the early 1800s managed to carve out a significant standing in Egypt and implemented many reforms that helped to push Egypt ahead of much of the Ottoman Empire as the Suez Canal brought money and western influence into the region. • 10. Symbols Found in Nathaniel Hawthrone´s The Scarlet Letter It is a curious subject of observation and inquiry, whether hatred and love be not the same thing at bottom. Each, in its utmost development, supposes a high degree of intimacy and heart knowledge; each renders one individual dependent for the food of his affections and spiritual life upon another; each leaves the passionate lover, or the no less passionate hater, forlorn and desolate by the withdrawal of his object. (page 412 chapter 24) The reoccurring deteriorating scaffold Pearl Prynne, and the rosebush and ugly weeds are reoccurring symbols in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. Hawthorne s characters symbolically transform the scaffold from beginning to end of the novel. Next the three scaffold scenes physically deteriorate with an underlying symbolic tone. Finally, the symbolic use of the scaffold throughout The Scarlet Letter leaves a lasting impression of its readers. The scaffold in the scarlet letter is a structure in the middle of Boston during the 17th century that was used as a tool of torture used against people who have committed sins. They stood upon it for hours at a time in front of the public being judged for what they did wrong. Pearl kissed his lips. A spell was broken. On September 17, last weekend, I earned what I consider to be my best race result in my young cycling career. After a high speed crash in the road race the day before, I managed to bounce back and earned a third place in the Pensacola Cycling Classic pro / one / two criterium. This perfectly exemplifies one of the many life lessons that cycling has taught me over the course of the past five years. I would have never learned these lessons, had I not received my first road bike in 2012. My bike has given me more than I ever thought was possible. I have found a passion and a niche that has engulfed my life, and I love every second of it. I have made friends from California, all the way to the far reaches of Maine. I have experienced the high of screaming down a mountain at fifty miles an hour, filling your lungs with dread, but making your heart feel as if it is floating. These people I have met, places I have been, and feelings I have felt have molded me into a modge podge of regional cultures. In fact, this modge podge will become international, as I will be traveling to Odense, Denmark to race for Team USA in 2018. An Analysis of Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1 One of the most appealing elements of Shakespeare s works is that, despite subject matter that is hardly realistic in today s general society, the heart of each play retains much in terms of human relationships, central conflicts, and humor. Hence, in a play like Henry IV, Part 1, the subject matter of royalty and civil war from an interesting and dramatic backdrop to more common themes like the conflicts between personal affection and the duties a person such as Prince Harry is expected to fulfill. As such, Harry s person affection for Falstaff is ultimately overridden by his drive to regain the admiration and affection of his father in the name of his concept of honor not only to the palace, but also to England as a whole. As such, Harry claims that his affection for Falstaff and his roguish world was simply appearance in order to more prominently return to the world of duty that he knows is his right and destiny, which could, in today s terms, be viewed as ultimately dishonorable. When the play opens, the young Prince Harry s major relationship is with the old and fat knight, Sir Falstaff. • 21. The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals the collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking phenomenon encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of geometries and in various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver. Under certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering and absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based upon calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a dielectric core and a metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much larger range of wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by Zhou et al. In the 1990 s. They used a Au2S core surrounded by a gold shell. Variations of these shells made it possible to shift the standard gold colloid plasmon resonance peak from ~520 nm up to ~900 nm. There was a limit however, of less than 40 nm on the size of nanoshell that they could achieve due to the chemistry of their synthesis reactions. The process also produced large amounts of gold colloid as a secondary product which gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas and coworkers synthesized a new type of gold nanoshell that overcame many of the limitations of the Au2S core type nanoshell. The new method replaced the Au2S core with a silica core and made it possible to exert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Architecture Of Gothic Literature And The Romantic Era Today s literature and the way is expressed is greatly influenced by the literature of the Romantic Era which the Gothic literature had part on. The Gothic Literature is build by how the authors convey the feelings of horrors to the readers through the imagination of the reader which can be expanded through the reading. Gothic Literature is strongly influenced by the architecture of haunted places, which gives off the aura of horror and terror in the reading in order to give these feelings to the readers. Although many things come to play in the architecture of the Gothic literature, doors are an essential way to gives off this aura, where doors lead to uncertain places which unexpected things can happen at anytime; examples of this kind are Ann Radcliffe s work The Romance of the Forest and Horace Walpole s work The Castle of Otranto . Both stories contain characters that experience the thrill of entering new places that are lead by an unusual door, which gives the readers clues at what kind of feelings this type of literature is based. An example in The Romance of the Forest is when Adeline is curious about what the door that she discovers leads to. Because it allows the HIM professional to be consciously aware of the duty and responsibility that he/she has in regards to patient confidentiality, privacy and security. It also allows them to know what the repercussions might be in case they were to break the law. #2 Does a single document or source of law exist where an individual can find all of the rules governing health information? Why or why not? No. Since the laws and regulations are divided into federal, state and local levels, they are interpreted differently by each of the court systems, all three different levels. This makes it impossible for all law relating health information to ascend from a single source. #5 Explain the concepts of stare decisis and res judicata. Stare decisis to let the decision stand operates in a pyramid type fashion and is the doctrine that judicial decisions stand as precedent for cases arising in the future. It is a fundamental policy of our law that, except in unusual circumstances, a court s determination on a point of law will be followed by courts of the same or lower rank in later cases presenting the same legal issue, even though different parties are involved and any years have elapsed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my room. Marine Fisheries And Its Impact On The Environment Marine fisheries make up some of the largest ecosystems/habitats that span from the coastal regions all the way through the various oceans of the globe. In addition, the habitats and ecosystems of marine fisheries contain some of the most diverse groups of organisms worldwide just because of the sheer amount of the planet s surface that the oceans cover. Although the range and diversity of marine fisheries are vast, they are declining at increasing rates. There are many factors that have led to this decline which include climate change, pollution, and the introduction of invasive species into particular habitats. However, the two largest factors behind the collapse of marine fisheries are directly correlated with human interaction with the marine fisheries. One is the overexploitation by the fishing industry, while the other is habitat alteration (mainly around the coastal areas) (Layman et. al 2011). Findings of the Conservation Issue Marine fisheries revenues totaled about $70 billion in the late 1990s and accounted for $13 billion in net exports (Botsford, L.W., et. al., 1997). The total revenues for marine fisheries today is $91.2 billion This huge industry also supplies a large food source to populations around the world and is an important source of jobs for many countries. Teenage Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities Teen Pregnancy Rates Among Ethnicities Dr. Maria Reid Florida International University Friday, June 17, 2016 Vanessa Romano Stephanie Maquieira Teenage pregnancy has been viewed as an issue for many years, not only for teenage mothers but for babies as well. Much importance has been placed on this subject for the reason that although these rates are declining, they remain elevated. The United States represents over 600,000 American teen pregnancies every year, making this the highest rate in the industrialized world (Steinberg, 2017). Unfortunately, ethnic minorities in the United States have a predisposition to the many social, educational and economic disadvantages that in fact shape adolescent sexual behavior and lead to the decision of adolescent motherhood. This paper will illustrate teenage pregnancy rates over the last few years, the factors that impact teen pregnancy, contraception and the likelihood of teen pregnancies across different ethnic groups. Over the years, the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the United States has been declining by nearly 40% since the 1990 s. (Brown, 2016) Adolescent pregnancy rates have decreased across the nation for adolescents belonging to any racial and ethnic group.
