The Rise Of Anabaptism
I, John van Leiden, King of Munster, was a devout Anabaptist for much of my life, and did whatever I
could to spread the ideas that went along with my faith. Throughout my time, I made many enemies,
but I also made alliances that helped to increase the Anabaptist following. I was a feared ruler, but I
did what I believed to be right in order to invoke the second coming of Jesus Christ. Despite my
eventual title as the King of Munster, my life did not start off so nicely. I was born in a small village
just outside of Leiden, in Holland. My mother and I were shunned when we were in public, seeing as I
was born out of wedlock (Arthur 6). Most people did not want to be seen interacting with us because
having illegitimate children was highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I quickly solved that problem, and just three months later, I was the supreme leader of the city of
Munster ( John of Leiden ). With my newfound powers, I created many new laws and regulations that
followed the rules laid out in the Bible. I was a strict ruler, anyone who questioned my rule or refused
to follow the biblical law would have to face punishment, because they were out of line. One of my
favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the Old Testament: Polygamy (Palmer et al.
80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent residence, I already had two wives, neither of
whom know about the other (Arthur 70 71). With polygamy now legal, men were having competitions
to see who could have the most wives, so I took it upon myself to marry fourteen other women in just
over a year because I had to be the best, seeing as I was the king (103). With all of the new laws that I
had created, as well as my harsh punishments for anyone who disobeyed me, I was a force to be
reckoned with. I was so intimidating that Martin Luther, the man behind the Reformation, told his
Protestant followers to join forces with the Catholics they were trying to separate from, in order to try
and stop me (Palmer et al. 80). While I was able to hold onto control of Munster for a while,
eventually opposing forces managed to sneak through the guarded

Porter s 5 Forces and the Us Auto Industry
Research Project #2: Porter s Five Forces Applied to the US Auto Industry Ty Webb State University
ECON 600 Dr. Frederic (2.) Abstract This report focuses on the identification, analysis, and
application of Porter s Forces to the United States automobile industry. The report focuses on the
application of Porter s Five Forces to the industry as a whole, and is broken down into the individual
applications of each force. Sources used in the production of this report are drawn from many
disciplines and range from encyclopedia based data, government reports, widely published
periodicals, to industry opinions. The goal of the report is to give the reader a clear concise

These figures probably come as no surprise by current market standards and expectations; however,
these figures also suggest and demonstrate an important shift in the US auto industry in general. No
more are the days of the Big Three and their dominance of the market without foreign influence and
challenge. The US auto industry is alive and thriving with an abundance of oversea firms and
production that has captivated and elevated the consumer auto market domestically and will continue
to do so for the foreseen future. (3.3) Market Structure The current structure of the US auto industry is
a who s who of Fortune 500 companies, with long track records of success, and gold mines of
innovation. The current market structure in place has many of the same foundations as the industry of
the pre World War II era, with some important foreign additions from Japan and other countries (
Markets Data Center , 2011). In 2010, over 28 automobile firms registered sales within the United
States. The total number of foreign firms doing business in the US was 25. To make the point more
saliently, 90% of all firms selling autos within the US are from foreign soil. This number is a stark
contrast to what the industry looked like in the pre World War II era, and is probably hard to imagine
for the average consumer. However, the top producers in the US market

The Persuaders Rhetorical Analysis
When I was a kid in school, I was told that there were the basic things that you needed like clothes and
food and there were the things that you maybe want but don t really need. Advertisements do not have
any effects on what we need. We don t watch and add about how we need to eat food to stay alive; we
have hunger for that. However, Advertisements greatly affect what we want. Do we want basic cereal
or the fancy kind that athletes promote, or can we live with a plain shirt or do we want the one with a
guy riding a horse emblem? These want that stray away from our basic needs are all driven by
advertisement. No one is born wanting a Gucci shirt, they are taught and conditioned to want one. The
Frontline documentary, The Persuaders , delves into the world of advertisement in order to explore
different aspects of the industry that drives our desire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After watching the film it is evident that the interaction between advertisements and consumers is
similar to the interactions between media and audiences. This is because advertisement is inherently a
form of media, but instead of trying to interaction the audience, it propagates a propaganda for a
specific item. You can look at the theories about mass media consumption and apply it to
advertisements. For example, in the dawn of mass media it was thought that the hypodermic needle
theory, or magic bullet theory, was how audiences reacted to the media. This theory stated that when
an audience consumed a certain facet of media like a radio talk show, the media content would be
directly injected into the audience. Therefore, the audience would automatically respond to the stimuli.
In this way the first advertisements were just information that stated that something was better than
another product in the hope that, like an injection, the information would cause the audience to go out
and buy their

Fear of Losing
Facing a seemingly massive debt can create a scare tactic to continue on a path toward a higher and
exceptional education. Although there are controllable factors to help lessen the weight of student debt
it creates a wall of challenges toward furthering ones education, because of the fear of falling into a
seemingly large debt Canadian students are afraid to maximize their education, prohibiting Canada to
create and maintain a stronger and more skilled work force.

Do People Really Have Free Will Essay
Do people really have free will? Toshia Perry Axia College Slide 2 What exactly is free will? Speaker
notes: It is the ability for a person to determine some or all of his actions. Some consider free will to
be its own cause. Some consider free will to be independent of any other causation, predestination, or
predetermination by any other person, event, or stimulus. Of course, this does not make sense since a
person is free to do as he/she wants but what he/she wants can only be consistent with his own nature.
I propose that free will involves four aspects: Conception, Desire, Choice, and Accomplishment.
Conception leads to desire which leads to choice which leads to accomplishing that choice. Slide 3

Speaker notes: The question concerning a free will shouldn t be whether we have one, it should be
whether such a thing is possible. We must ask ourselves, Free from what? A mind free from all
motivating factors would have nothing to base decisions upon. There is just no such thing as an
uncaused choice. Many people, religious and secular alike, wonder if cause and effect ultimately
means that everything in the universe including human behavior is predestined, bound to happen, or
predetermined. We are not made to do things by cause and effect we are PART of cause and effect we
make ourselves do things. The cause and effect that goes on in our minds is what constitutes self, and
our particular cause effect process is manifestly different from what we normally think of cause and
effect. We remember our past, and direct our actions to bring about specific results to satisfy feelings
of need and desire something random causality cannot do. Slide 6 Is freedom of speech part of free

One example of a qualitative research design might be a survey constructed as a precursor to the paper
towel experiment. A study completed before the experiment was performed would reveal which of the
multitude of brands were the most popular. The quantitative experiment could then be constructed
around only these brands, saving a lot of time, money and resources. Qualitative methods are probably
the oldest of all experimental techniques, with Ancient Greek philosophers qualitatively observing the
world around them and trying to come up with answers which explained what they saw. Some reviews
and metasyntheses of qualitative studies have been done [Barroso and Powell Cope 2000, Field and
Marck 1994, Jensen and Allen 1994 and Sleutel 1998], but established and systematic guidelines,
aside from critique and evaluation of methodology and quality of the components of the study, are
lacking [Sandelowski et al 1997]. [Sandelowski et al 1997] stated, In general, studies should not be
excluded for reasons of quality,...there are wide variations in conceptions of the good, and in quality
criteria (p. 368). Research studies were not excluded based on their scientific merit to avoid exclusion
of research studys germane to the purpose of this study. However, universal standards for qualitative

The One Of The World s Oldest Instruments
The Didgeridoo is considered to be one of the world s oldest instruments. It is thought to have
originated in Northern Australia and researchers think it may have been in use for 40,000 years. There
are carvings on cave walls that depict the didgeridoo in use from the Kakadu people dating back about
1,000 years. (The Didjeridu: From Arnhem Land to the Internet) The first Didgeridoos were made of
eucalyptus trees limbs or Bamboo and that were hollowed out by termites. (McMahon) Aborigine
people living in Northern Australia would clean them out using sticks and cut them to an ideal length.
After cleaning the limbs or bamboo out, hot coals are used to kill any insects. Most didgeridoos range
from three to ten feet long. Length usually plays a role in pitch; if it is longer it has a lower tone and
shorter instruments have a higher pitch. Didgeridoos are usually conical in shape. The Didgeridoo is a
wind instrument or aerophone. It is called this because it uses air to vibrate and create sound within an
instrument. (Hornbostel and Sachs) The player blows air into the smaller end or mouthpiece and often
times people use beeswax to help create a seal with the lips and the instrument. Air pushed through the
lips help the lips to vibrate and create the sound. Today modern didgeridoo s can be made from a
variety of materials. Some are made of glass, metal, cactus or almost any material that can be
hollowed out into a tube.
Because of the irregular shape of the natural instrument

Cause And Effect Of Bullying
The Effects of Bullying
Nerd, ugly, stupid, creep, loser: these are just a few of the hurtful words that school bullies and other
students direct towards their excluded, vulnerable peers in schools around the U.S. Bullying is a
familiar word often heard in schools, workplaces and now on the internet. It can occur in the form of
physical, mental or emotional abuse. In general, bullying has been perceived as aggressive behavior
that is intentional, harassment, and an imbalance of power with the result of inflicting pain or
discomfort on others ( Bullying ). Thousands of children in the United States are affected every day by
bullying. This kind of behavior is detrimental to all involved and should not be allowed in any school
system as it can quickly affect an individual beyond anyone s imagination. In some cases, bullying can
undermine the self esteem of the victims which can force them to take extreme measures dangerous to
them and others. The experience of school bullying can end up causing enduring damage to both
victims and bullies. The effects of school bullying include decreased academic achievement,
depression and anxiety and high risk of self destructive behaviors. According to a study done by Gary
Ladd, a psychology professor at Arizona State University, 24 percent of children in the study suffered
chronic bullying throughout their school years, which was related to lower academic performance and
less engagement in school. Decreased academic achievement is a

Killer Whales Controversy
Everyone loves going to marine parks such as SeaWorld and Marineland. They offer many spectacular
shows with dolphins, sea lions and birds. However, the main attractions they offer are orcas, or as they
are better known as killer whales. Highly intelligent and with acute senses of sight and hearing, they
are apex predators. Recently, the possession of orcas has been a big topic of controversy. Many people
believe that the animals are being mistreated in captivity. Their captivity limits their freedom and
enjoyment. Many orcas suffer from poor physical and mental effects in captivity. Killer whales will
usually travel between 50 and 100 miles per day in the wild, but in captivity all they can do is swim in
circles or float for no reason. In the wild, killer whales live in pods of ... Show more content on

Lab Report On Microbial Unknowns Essay
Microbial Unknowns Objective: In the past couple of weeks, our class received a single broth that
contained two species of bacterium. One bacterium was gram positive and one bacterium was gram
negative. We were required to use our techniques and knowledge we learned in class to separate and
identify the two species we were given in our broths. Methodology: Day One: On the first day of our
Biochemical Unknown Lab we were given a tube that contained broth media which held two different
types of bacterium. Once we were given our broths, we had to streak two Nutrient Agar plates with the
mixed culture tube by using a loop. After I streaked my Nutrient Agar plates, I decided to perform a
gram stain. First I flamed the loop and set it aside to cool. After I flamed the loop I prepared two slides
with a drop of water in the middle. Once the loop was cool I dipped the loop into the broth and
smeared the loop onto both slides mixing the unknown bacterium with the water. I flamed my loop, set
it aside, heat fixed both slides, and let the slides air dry. Once the slide were dry I set them on two rods
above the drainage area and covered the smears with Crystal Violet. I let the Crystal Violet sit on the
smear for one minute and rinsed off the Crystal Violet. Once the Crystal Violet was rinsed I applied
Grams Iodine and let that sit for one minute. After one minute passed I rinsed the slide again and
moved on to applying the alcohol. I dripped the alcohol onto the slide until the

Egg Baby Activity Research Paper
The egg baby activity was an activity I particularly enjoyed doing in my college career. I am actually
familiar with the care taking process for my egg, since I was assigned this type of project before while
I was in high school; the only difference was that I had a partner for this experience. So to explain the
process for caring for my baby was fairly simple, my partner, Lily, had a schedule that was the
opposite of mine and we would switch off caring for the baby evenly. She had the baby one day and I
would have him the next. Having to switch off between days primarily reminded me of how actual
couples would have to raise children due to custody cases, in which some are not as lenient as
switching off between parents like it was for this project. So the challenging part of this activity ...

I was extremely concerned that she could potentially drop, or break the egg during the days she had
the egg. I do not believe I was highly concerned about that, but I was more concerned that she could

of honesty. I believe that parents should be truthful throughout the entire process of raising a child,
specifically when a parent believes they made a mistake in the upbringing process and do not want to
inform the other parent that they were wrong. A good example of this could be discipline, one parent
may not fully agree with spanking, while the other might, and with the child in the custody of the

spankings receives the child finds out that the child was disciplined in that manner could result in

always searching for a perfect food, one which will keep us slim while providing the vitamins,
minerals, and nutrients necessary for survival. In recent years, the focus has shifted from concerns
about fat and carbohydrates to overall health and wellbeing. There has been an increasing emphasis
placed on organic foods foods grown without pesticides, chemicals, and inorganic fertilizers. Cancer

Additionally, symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have been known to decrease in children
who consume the fish. The risk of asthma in children is reduced as well. Finally, there is a decreased
risk of strokes and stress induced aggression in people who consume salmon.
In addition to containing high levels of vitamins and minerals, salmon is also low in fat and
cholesterol. An average portion of salmon provides over half of the daily allowance of protein, and
between four and ten grams of fat . Not all varieties offer the same benefits, however. Farmed salmon,
while often easier to obtain, is the less healthy choice. While they are being raised, farmed salmon are
fed a combination of fish protein, antibiotics, pesticides, vaccines, chemicals, and other drugs. These
present a risk not only to wild salmon living near the farms, but to humans and the environment as
well. Farmed salmon contain more of the bad fats than wild salmon, and fewer good fats. Wild
salmon, while often more difficult to locate than farmed, are the healthier choice and the one preferred
by the majority of chefs and consumers throughout the country. The flesh is darker in color and firmer,
direct results of an active, migratory lifestyle. Wild salmon are harvested only after their feeding and
spawning cycles have concluded, but despite this fact their species have become severely endangered.

Relationships and Religion in The Handmaids Tale by...
In the novel The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood the themes of Religion and inter human
relationships are the themes that are most evident in the text. This novel shows the possibility of the
existence of an all powerful governing system. This is portrayed through the lack of freedom for
women in society, from being revoked of their right to own any money or property, to being stripped
of their given names and acquiring names such as Offred and Ofglen, symbolizing women s
dependant existence, only being defined by the men which they belong to. This portrayal of women
demonstrates the idea that individuals are unimportant, that the goals of the society as a whole are

Offred is a part of a society that leaves her deprived of any warm human relationship, and only
conforms to the rules set on her because she wants to survive. Having such a lack of freedom makes
her crave human affection, and she copes with this by trying to escape reality, while at the same time
avoiding the memories of the freedom she once had. Religion is an idea that is also significant in A
Season in the Life of Emmanuel by Marie Claire Blais. This theme is accompanied by hypocrisy,
abuse and the need for escape from reality. This novel tells the stories of children growing up in a
society in which their lives are not valued. The children in this society are expected to repress the
abuse inflicted on them, leaving them to deal with their demons on their own. This abuse is often
present in the church and in the reformatories that they are sent to, demonstrating the hypocrisy
present in this society. Since these children are not aided in overcoming the obstacles placed in their
lives, they search for and begin to find their own ways of escaping reality. For Jean le Maigre, who is
very sick but nonetheless is made to go to school and work the family s land, the escape is found
through the writing of stories and poems. Jean le Maigre is also a good example of the search for a
reality break in the children, along with Number 7, as they both resort to alcohol to escape from the
repression that they felt from the strict religious lifestyle they followed at

Reaction Paper On Spinoza
The question of emotions and how they relate to rational thought is certainly not new. There are
several authors who have already occupied themselves with the interplay of emotions and rationality
in the decision making process (Lowenstein Lerner, 2003; Damasio, 1988 1994 just to name a few). In
order to address this question, I decided to turn to one of the greatest thinkers of Western thought:
Spinoza. Re reading the 4th part of his magnum opos Ethics, which carries the title Of Human
Bondage or the strength of emotions , I could not but think of some central aspects of Kahneman
Tversky s work on heuristics, bias, framing effects and prospect theory. Given the chronological gap
between the works of Kahneman Tversky and Spinoza s Ethics I was impressed by the actuality
inherent to Spinoza s thought. In this paper, I m going to argue that Spinoza s 4th part of Ethics

In Ethics, which overall consists of five main parts and is inspired by the strict science of geometrics,
he develops a system of thought which addresses the relationship of god and nature, body and mind
and the conditions and possibilities of a good human life. Thereby, he opposes Descartes mind body
dualism and develops his own line of thought contrasting Descartes dualism with his own concept of
parallelism of body and mind. While rational thought as the attribute of human mind has been
considered for a long time as being superior to emotions, Spinoza argued that both the mind and the
body were parallel attributes (call them manifestations) of the very same substance (Damasio, 1988:
12). As much as his take on the role of emotions is determined by his other main concepts of
parallelism and conatus, the 4th part of his Ethics is considered to be key to be able to understand the
other parts of Ethics (Liessmann, 2003:

America down. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price,

showed he was extremely genuine about his cause. In I Have a Dream , Martin uses his beliefs and
past experiences to join the people together. Martin lived in a time where all Americans were promised
the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (King 371), but the white men still

Throughout generations, it seems that a common way for cultures to pass down traditions is through
storytelling. Stories were told for entertainment, history and even for teaching a moral value. No
matter where or when these stories were told they all have one thing in common a hero.
What is the significance of a hero? Most often, heroes are used to convey a culture s ideals and, at the
same time, reveal what problems already exist in this society. Heroes are created as role models for
younger children and to exemplify the difference between right and wrong. Overall, they give us hope

The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay
The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a
memory test
Abstract
The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased
recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than
words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who
studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio
had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than
words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best
recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition
participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition
saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the
pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition.

Memory can be described as our ability to recall information from past experience, store, retrieve, and
encode information from the brain. Memory has a large capacity that allows us to learn, build new
experiences and form new relationships. (Mastin, L. 2016)

year s best picture Oscar nominees only three of them actually passed test while three of the films didn

films passed this test. The problem isn t just a lack of recognition come awards season it s Hollywood

how the portray people of color, an issue that needs to be fixed. Patt Morrison a journalist, author, and

problem gradually worsens throughout the years then movies would go out of business if it s not fixed.

Illegal Immigrants Should Be Illegal
Research Paper
In the world today, Ten to thirteen million illegal immigrants live in America (Watkins). According to
the recent study, The Percentage of immigrants living in the U.S.A. is almost fourteen percent
(Wooldridge). This problem is an issue to the U.S. and will be an issue to all of the nations including
europe, asia, etcetera. if it is not fixed. Reason is that the immigrants get more government help or
welfare some may call it, than the registered citizens of America. Studies show that 51 percent of
homes led by immigrants are getting some kind of government help (Gomez). When there is help able
to use then it should be used by the citizens of that country. All immigration needs to be controlled so
anything tragic won t happen anymore.
Immigration needs to be illegal because most of the Illegal immigrants don t pay taxes and get
government help. Studies from Washington times show that 700,000 illegal immigrants work and pay
individual taxes but there are about four million that do not pay taxes or work (stephen). In the world
today, Illegal immigrants have not paid taxes and it has added up to a little over four billion dollars
(North). This is a problem and needs to be fixed, as immigrants are living here for free basically. For
example, If the Immigrants paid income taxes the U.S.A. would bring in a lot more revenue
(Hrenchir). if they did pay taxes the U.S. would not have a problem with them. Immigrants steal jobs

Bringing Up Bebe By Pamela Druckerman
If you re an expectant mother or already a parent and you ve never heard about the book Bringing Up
Bébe by Pamela Druckerman, now is the right time to pick it up at your local book store and start
reading.
And if you re very busy, or overwhelmed with your daily tasks and don t have time for another
parenting book, believe me, this one is a very easy read. You can literally finish it in one day. There,
you won t find any tutorials on how to burb the baby or a vaccination schedule. The book is a simple
yet very ineteresting overview of the French parenting philosophy and a phylosophy of life in general.
I ve read this book 2 years ago. I ve heard so many flattering reviews that I decided to give it a try.
The first thing that might come to your mind when reading it, is that the author tries to demoralize the
way American parents have used to raise their kids. But in fact, the book is just a good comparison of
how Amricans and French people tend to do things in regards to pregnancy and parenting.
Each book we read is a source of improvement and I see Bringing Up Bebe to be such book.
It s really fascinating how things are different in other part of the world. Both USA and France are
world leading developed countries with so many things in common. Yet, when it comes to all things
pregnancy, childbirth and raising kids, French people are onto something completely different.
In the US, when a woman gets pregnant, it become a norm to stock up on every possible pregnancy

Catherine The Great Russia With An Iron Fist

ruled Russia with an iron fist, she knew the secrets of how to gain the love of her people and how to

Elizabeth persisted in having Catherine go on numerous bloodletting treatments, while Johanna was
against the procedure. As Catherine recovered, the relationship between her and Grand Duke Peter
grew. The couple soon became engaged and Catherine even converted to the Russian Orthodox faith.
With her new religion, she also received a new name, Yekaterina or Catherine. On August 21, 1745,
Catherine II was married to Grand Duke Peter, and became a grand duchess of the Russian royal
family. To the public eye she and Peter proved to be a happy couple, but Peter was childish and
unsophisticated. Her husband would rather play with toy soldiers and mistresses, than spend time with
his wife. With so much time on her hands, Catherine took up many pastimes such as reading. Since
Catherine and Peter had a distance relationship, they didn t have children until nine years after they
were married. Although, on September 20, 1754 she gave birth to her first birth son, Paul. The
legitimacy of the child was called into question by a few scholar who believe the father of the child is
Sergi Saltykov, a Russian noble and member of the court. Others protested that Paul resembled Peter,
leading them to believe he was the father. During Paul s childhood, Catherine got to spend very little

patterns help simplify complex readings by gaining the ability to tie together certain possibilities and
figure out how each detail leads to an outcome a reader has seen before. This familiarity allows for a

The New Land Of America Essay
In the year 1619, the new land of America had been settled and populated. There was a problem
though; there was much work to do and not enough people to fill those positions. According to the
professor of history at South Carolina State University, Doctor Stanley Harrold, The Atlantic slave
trade began in Africa in the mid 1400s and lasted into the 19th century. Initially, Portuguese traders
purchased small numbers of slaves from kingdoms on the western coast of Africa and transported
them for sale in Portugal and Spain. The Atlantic slave trade did not become a huge enterprise until
after European nations began colonizing the Americas during the 1500s. During the 1600s the Dutch
pushed the Portuguese out of the trade and then contested the British and French for control of it. By
1713 Britain had emerged as the dominant slave trading nation. In all, the trade brought more than 10
million Africans to America... (Harrold). The slave trade started with only 20 slaves being brought to
Virginia but the trade started to boom when the realization that slavers were cheaper than indentured
servants and more abundant. The treatment of the African American slaves was deplorable. They were
not treated as human beings but as disposable property. This gave rise to the Abolitionist Movement.
The Movement did not gain any traction until The American Revolution (1775 1783) and the French
Revolution (1789 1799), widely seen as revolutions by citizens against oppressive

Thus, we may not know whether the findings will generalize to other people, situations, or
conceptualizations of the variables. Within particular bounds, significant findings from an
experimental study may infer a general cause, but the presence of other unmeasured variables can
limit that inference. Limitations of Survey Instruments Surveys that are distributed with time
constraints were noted by Delva, Kirby, Knapper, and Birtwhistle (2002) as problematic in that people
who struggle with real or perceived time constraints are less likely to respond to surveys because these
possible respondents feel overworked they just do not have the time to complete the survey. Surveys
often also suffer the limitation of forcing respondents into particular response categories, thereby
limiting the range of responses. Unlike an interview, where respondents can ask clarifying questions,
respondents are usually limited to the text in the survey itself for direction about how to complete it
and where to respond. Delimitations The delimitations of a study are those characteristics that arise
from limitations in the scope of the study (defining the boundaries) and by the conscious exclusionary
and inclusionary decisions made during the development of the study plan. Unlike limitations, which
flow from implicit characteristics of method and design, delimitations result from specific choices by
the researcher. Among these are the choice of objectives and

What Does It Means To Be An Organ Donor
Have you ever wanted to be a hero to a family or a literal life saver to another? By saying yes to organ
donation you have the ability to do so. In fact, saying yes should be required considering the number
of wasted organs that could save numerous lives every day. On average, there are about 22 people on
the transplant list who die each day while waiting for healthy organs. Also, every ten minutes,
someone is added to the transplant list needing organs to keep them alive. Every time someone signs
up to be a donor, they are saving 8 lives, but can also save and enhance more than 100 lives through
tissue donation. Along with organs and tissue, there are many ways to be a donor. No matter if you re
deceased or living you can be an organ donor. Kidneys, blood, bones, intestines and more can be
donated while you re still living, but if you no longer need your heart pumping to live, why shouldn t
there be a law to donate it to someone whose heart is failing? A person having a choice for donating
their organs, not only puts a stressful decision on them, but puts stress on families as well who have a
loved one waiting for healthy organs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some may believe that there is no value in donating their organs to someone who only has hours left
to live, but there is life. Life is the most valuable gift anyone can receive. So with this being said,
organ donation should no longer be a choice but

How Did Nationalism Become So Popular In The 19th Century
Nationalism became so popular because the middle class was rising in numbers and they realised that
they should take the crap of the government and would support their country and mold it into what
they want as a people. It was appealing because it offered a way of getting more for yourself and
others and breaking away from the grasp of tyranny. The goals of nationalism in Europe was to better
society for the people and make the government based off what the people want and not a few higher

suffrage and better city infrastructure. The French only prospered more when he became the Emperor

Analysis Of The Poem Before You Were Mine By Carol...
The poems Before you were mine by Carol Anne Duffy and Mother any distance greater than a single
span by Simon Armitage, reflect on what it means to raise a child in the world. In before you were
mine , Anne Duffy shows how things change when you have child where as in mother any distance
greater than a single span Simon Armitage shows how hard it is to let go of your child. Duffy and
Armitage represent different parent child relationships. Ann Duffy s poem is about a relationship
between a mother and daughter. In Before you were mine , Duffy perceives her mother when she was
young and how things have changed since she had her child. The poet has a feeling of regret and
thinks its her fault that her mother lost some of her energy and being that bold girl winking in
Portobello . Duffy wishes her mother still lived a fun life even after she was born. Whereas in Simon
Armitage s poem, the mother struggle to let go of the son. Armitage writes that his mother s fingertips
still pinch the pinch meaning she cannot bear to let her son go which creates tension because the son
doesn t feel the same way. The poets are able to show how different kinds of parent child relationships
can reflect on how they feel about one another in the world. Duffy builds picture of her mother and
friends when she says on the corner you laugh on and her mother wearing a polka dot dress and then
mentions blows round your legs . Marilyne . The word Marilyne shows that the mother

Photosynthesis Lab Report
Abstract
These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity
effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light effect
the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is very slow.
Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesis that control what lights are used for that plant.
Introduction
Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by
eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their own
nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose and
oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are water, CO2
and energy. The two processes are continuously working together.
We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested the
effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to clear
as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster photosynthetic
process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no effect on the rate of
photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors, such as red, blue, green,
white, and no light. Our

The American Of American National History Essay
Introduction.
George Washington stands at the origins of American national history. Many Americans call him the
father of our country . Washington commanded the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. He
led the American colonists to freedom from British rule. He headed the convention that created the
U.S. Constitution, as president of the republic Washington has created a basis for a federal government
in which the Americans were able to find their national agreement. Despite his accomplishments as a
general, political leader, businessman, and emancipator, Washington can also be defined as a family
man. After marriage with Martha Dandridge Custis, he raised her two children as his very own.
George Washington loved the country and its people. The country, also, loved him and respected.
James Russell Lowell, an American romantic poet, wrote about Washington next:
Soldier and statesman, rarest unison;
High poised example of great duties done
Simply as breathing, a world s honors worn
As life s indifferent gifts to all men born (Harrington 49).
George Washington was a man of an extraordinary abilities and visionary leader, he left the trace in
the history of the USA as a great man, as genius leader of army and as the first president.

Cultural Changes In Fashion
Fashion is a language that reveals a story about the person who wears it (Durcanin, 1999). What
fashion is, changes constantly and men s fashion in particular is no different. Over the past 100 years
men s fashion has reflect the social, economic, political and cultural changes happening in the world.
During the roaring twenties, a time of excitement an eccentricity had an impact on fashion post WWII.
This decade saw styles that were bright and fun. Every man had at least one suit with tighter fitting
jacket, sloping shoulders, bow ties and regular ties now made from knit material instead of silk.
Trousers also changed to a baggier look now worn with a belt instead of the usual suspenders, in
addition to front creases and cuffs. The hat craze began with specific hats worn during specific months
of the year; Panama straw or boater hats for summer, as well as felt fedoras for the colder months
(Firchau, 2017). The fashion world in the 30s saw cutbacks and restructuring with the Great
Depression, a time where fabric was rationed and production slowed reflecting the economic and
social mindset of the decade. Suits made out of linen, flannel, wool and tweed, saw a change with
broad shoulders, made even broader with the addition of shoulder pads, pants now had tapered legs
and thin waists, to help reduce the amount of fabric used per suit, even the color echoed the somber
mood of the population with dark and neutrals replacing the brighter colors used during the 20s.

American Black Bear Essay
The earliest American black bear fossils, which were located in Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania, greatly
resemble the Asiatic species,[9] though later specimens grew to sizes comparable to grizzlies.[10]
From the Holocene to present, American black bears seem to have shrunk in size,[2] but this has been
disputed because of problems with dating these fossil specimens.[7] The American black bear lived
during the same period as short faced bears (Arctodus simus and A. pristinus) and the Florida
spectacled bear (Tremarctos floridanus). These Tremarctine bears evolved from bears that had
emigrated from Asia to North America 7 8 ma.[11] The short faced bears are thought to have been
heavily carnivorous and the Florida spectacled bear more herbivorous,[12] while the American black
bears remained arboreal omnivores, like their Asian ancestors. The black bear s generalist behavior
allowed it to exploit a wider variety of foods and has been given as a reason why, of these three
genera, it alone survived climate and vegetative changes through the last ice age while the other more
specialized North American predators became extinct. However, both Arctodus and Tremarctos had
survived several other ice ages. After these prehistoric ursids became extinct during ... Show more

much of their original Canadian range, though they seldom occur in the southern farmlands of Alberta,

total Canadian black bear population is between 396,000 and 476,000,[25] based on surveys taken in
the mid 1990s in seven Canadian provinces, though this estimate excludes black bear populations in
New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. All provinces indicated

  • 2. The Rise Of Anabaptism I, John van Leiden, King of Munster, was a devout Anabaptist for much of my life, and did whatever I could to spread the ideas that went along with my faith. Throughout my time, I made many enemies, but I also made alliances that helped to increase the Anabaptist following. I was a feared ruler, but I did what I believed to be right in order to invoke the second coming of Jesus Christ. Despite my eventual title as the King of Munster, my life did not start off so nicely. I was born in a small village just outside of Leiden, in Holland. My mother and I were shunned when we were in public, seeing as I was born out of wedlock (Arthur 6). Most people did not want to be seen interacting with us because having illegitimate children was highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I quickly solved that problem, and just three months later, I was the supreme leader of the city of Munster ( John of Leiden ). With my newfound powers, I created many new laws and regulations that followed the rules laid out in the Bible. I was a strict ruler, anyone who questioned my rule or refused to follow the biblical law would have to face punishment, because they were out of line. One of my favorite laws that I put in place brought back an idea from the Old Testament: Polygamy (Palmer et al. 80). By the time I had made Munster my permanent residence, I already had two wives, neither of whom know about the other (Arthur 70 71). With polygamy now legal, men were having competitions to see who could have the most wives, so I took it upon myself to marry fourteen other women in just over a year because I had to be the best, seeing as I was the king (103). With all of the new laws that I had created, as well as my harsh punishments for anyone who disobeyed me, I was a force to be reckoned with. I was so intimidating that Martin Luther, the man behind the Reformation, told his Protestant followers to join forces with the Catholics they were trying to separate from, in order to try and stop me (Palmer et al. 80). While I was able to hold onto control of Munster for a while, eventually opposing forces managed to sneak through the guarded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Porter s 5 Forces and the Us Auto Industry Research Project #2: Porter s Five Forces Applied to the US Auto Industry Ty Webb State University ECON 600 Dr. Frederic (2.) Abstract This report focuses on the identification, analysis, and application of Porter s Forces to the United States automobile industry. The report focuses on the application of Porter s Five Forces to the industry as a whole, and is broken down into the individual applications of each force. Sources used in the production of this report are drawn from many disciplines and range from encyclopedia based data, government reports, widely published periodicals, to industry opinions. The goal of the report is to give the reader a clear concise understanding of the US auto industry and a general picture of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These figures probably come as no surprise by current market standards and expectations; however, these figures also suggest and demonstrate an important shift in the US auto industry in general. No more are the days of the Big Three and their dominance of the market without foreign influence and challenge. The US auto industry is alive and thriving with an abundance of oversea firms and production that has captivated and elevated the consumer auto market domestically and will continue to do so for the foreseen future. (3.3) Market Structure The current structure of the US auto industry is a who s who of Fortune 500 companies, with long track records of success, and gold mines of innovation. The current market structure in place has many of the same foundations as the industry of the pre World War II era, with some important foreign additions from Japan and other countries ( Markets Data Center , 2011). In 2010, over 28 automobile firms registered sales within the United States. The total number of foreign firms doing business in the US was 25. To make the point more saliently, 90% of all firms selling autos within the US are from foreign soil. This number is a stark contrast to what the industry looked like in the pre World War II era, and is probably hard to imagine for the average consumer. However, the top producers in the US market ... • 4. The Persuaders Rhetorical Analysis When I was a kid in school, I was told that there were the basic things that you needed like clothes and food and there were the things that you maybe want but don t really need. Advertisements do not have any effects on what we need. We don t watch and add about how we need to eat food to stay alive; we have hunger for that. However, Advertisements greatly affect what we want. Do we want basic cereal or the fancy kind that athletes promote, or can we live with a plain shirt or do we want the one with a guy riding a horse emblem? These want that stray away from our basic needs are all driven by advertisement. No one is born wanting a Gucci shirt, they are taught and conditioned to want one. The Frontline documentary, The Persuaders , delves into the world of advertisement in order to explore different aspects of the industry that drives our desire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After watching the film it is evident that the interaction between advertisements and consumers is similar to the interactions between media and audiences. This is because advertisement is inherently a form of media, but instead of trying to interaction the audience, it propagates a propaganda for a specific item. You can look at the theories about mass media consumption and apply it to advertisements. For example, in the dawn of mass media it was thought that the hypodermic needle theory, or magic bullet theory, was how audiences reacted to the media. This theory stated that when an audience consumed a certain facet of media like a radio talk show, the media content would be directly injected into the audience. Therefore, the audience would automatically respond to the stimuli. In this way the first advertisements were just information that stated that something was better than another product in the hope that, like an injection, the information would cause the audience to go out and buy their ... Although there are controllable factors to help lessen the weight of student debt it creates a wall of challenges toward furthering ones education, because of the fear of falling into a seemingly large debt Canadian students are afraid to maximize their education, prohibiting Canada to create and maintain a stronger and more skilled work force. Picking a career field does not come easy. • 6. Do People Really Have Free Will Essay Do people really have free will? Toshia Perry Axia College Slide 2 What exactly is free will? Speaker notes: It is the ability for a person to determine some or all of his actions. Some consider free will to be its own cause. Some consider free will to be independent of any other causation, predestination, or predetermination by any other person, event, or stimulus. Of course, this does not make sense since a person is free to do as he/she wants but what he/she wants can only be consistent with his own nature. I propose that free will involves four aspects: Conception, Desire, Choice, and Accomplishment. Conception leads to desire which leads to choice which leads to accomplishing that choice. Slide 3 Who determines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a currently expanding area of psychology, biology and philosophy so I don t think all of the best evidence is in yet give it 50 years and we should know more. Slide 5 Misconceptions of free will. Speaker notes: The question concerning a free will shouldn t be whether we have one, it should be whether such a thing is possible. We must ask ourselves, Free from what? A mind free from all motivating factors would have nothing to base decisions upon. There is just no such thing as an uncaused choice. Many people, religious and secular alike, wonder if cause and effect ultimately means that everything in the universe including human behavior is predestined, bound to happen, or predetermined. We are not made to do things by cause and effect we are PART of cause and effect we make ourselves do things. The cause and effect that goes on in our minds is what constitutes self, and our particular cause effect process is manifestly different from what we normally think of cause and effect. We remember our past, and direct our actions to bring about specific results to satisfy feelings of need and desire something random causality cannot do. Slide 6 Is freedom of speech part of free will? Slide 7 How much free will do we need? Speaker notes: With so many choices in our world to choose from I would say that we have as much free will as we will need. We get to choose from what brand of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One example of a qualitative research design might be a survey constructed as a precursor to the paper towel experiment. A study completed before the experiment was performed would reveal which of the multitude of brands were the most popular. The quantitative experiment could then be constructed around only these brands, saving a lot of time, money and resources. Qualitative methods are probably the oldest of all experimental techniques, with Ancient Greek philosophers qualitatively observing the world around them and trying to come up with answers which explained what they saw. • 8. The One Of The World s Oldest Instruments The Didgeridoo is considered to be one of the world s oldest instruments. It is thought to have originated in Northern Australia and researchers think it may have been in use for 40,000 years. There are carvings on cave walls that depict the didgeridoo in use from the Kakadu people dating back about 1,000 years. (The Didjeridu: From Arnhem Land to the Internet) The first Didgeridoos were made of eucalyptus trees limbs or Bamboo and that were hollowed out by termites. (McMahon) Aborigine people living in Northern Australia would clean them out using sticks and cut them to an ideal length. After cleaning the limbs or bamboo out, hot coals are used to kill any insects. Most didgeridoos range from three to ten feet long. Length usually plays a role in pitch; if it is longer it has a lower tone and shorter instruments have a higher pitch. Didgeridoos are usually conical in shape. The Didgeridoo is a wind instrument or aerophone. It is called this because it uses air to vibrate and create sound within an instrument. (Hornbostel and Sachs) The player blows air into the smaller end or mouthpiece and often times people use beeswax to help create a seal with the lips and the instrument. Air pushed through the lips help the lips to vibrate and create the sound. Today modern didgeridoo s can be made from a variety of materials. Some are made of glass, metal, cactus or almost any material that can be hollowed out into a tube. Because of the irregular shape of the natural instrument ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cause And Effect Of Bullying The Effects of Bullying Nerd, ugly, stupid, creep, loser: these are just a few of the hurtful words that school bullies and other students direct towards their excluded, vulnerable peers in schools around the U.S. Bullying is a familiar word often heard in schools, workplaces and now on the internet. It can occur in the form of physical, mental or emotional abuse. In general, bullying has been perceived as aggressive behavior that is intentional, harassment, and an imbalance of power with the result of inflicting pain or discomfort on others ( Bullying ). Thousands of children in the United States are affected every day by bullying. This kind of behavior is detrimental to all involved and should not be allowed in any school system as it can quickly affect an individual beyond anyone s imagination. In some cases, bullying can undermine the self esteem of the victims which can force them to take extreme measures dangerous to them and others. The experience of school bullying can end up causing enduring damage to both victims and bullies. The effects of school bullying include decreased academic achievement, depression and anxiety and high risk of self destructive behaviors. One bacterium was gram positive and one bacterium was gram negative. We were required to use our techniques and knowledge we learned in class to separate and identify the two species we were given in our broths. Methodology: Day One: On the first day of our Biochemical Unknown Lab we were given a tube that contained broth media which held two different types of bacterium. Once we were given our broths, we had to streak two Nutrient Agar plates with the mixed culture tube by using a loop. After I streaked my Nutrient Agar plates, I decided to perform a gram stain. First I flamed the loop and set it aside to cool. After I flamed the loop I prepared two slides with a drop of water in the middle. Once the loop was cool I dipped the loop into the broth and smeared the loop onto both slides mixing the unknown bacterium with the water. I flamed my loop, set it aside, heat fixed both slides, and let the slides air dry. Once the slide were dry I set them on two rods above the drainage area and covered the smears with Crystal Violet. I let the Crystal Violet sit on the smear for one minute and rinsed off the Crystal Violet. Once the Crystal Violet was rinsed I applied Grams Iodine and let that sit for one minute. I am actually familiar with the care taking process for my egg, since I was assigned this type of project before while I was in high school; the only difference was that I had a partner for this experience. So to explain the process for caring for my baby was fairly simple, my partner, Lily, had a schedule that was the opposite of mine and we would switch off caring for the baby evenly. She had the baby one day and I would have him the next. Having such a lack of freedom makes her crave human affection, and she copes with this by trying to escape reality, while at the same time avoiding the memories of the freedom she once had. Religion is an idea that is also significant in A Season in the Life of Emmanuel by Marie Claire Blais. This theme is accompanied by hypocrisy, abuse and the need for escape from reality. This novel tells the stories of children growing up in a society in which their lives are not valued. The children in this society are expected to repress the abuse inflicted on them, leaving them to deal with their demons on their own. This abuse is often present in the church and in the reformatories that they are sent to, demonstrating the hypocrisy present in this society. Since these children are not aided in overcoming the obstacles placed in their lives, they search for and begin to find their own ways of escaping reality. For Jean le Maigre, who is very sick but nonetheless is made to go to school and work the family s land, the escape is found through the writing of stories and poems. There are several authors who have already occupied themselves with the interplay of emotions and rationality in the decision making process (Lowenstein Lerner, 2003; Damasio, 1988 1994 just to name a few). In order to address this question, I decided to turn to one of the greatest thinkers of Western thought: Spinoza. Re reading the 4th part of his magnum opos Ethics, which carries the title Of Human Bondage or the strength of emotions , I could not but think of some central aspects of Kahneman Tversky s work on heuristics, bias, framing effects and prospect theory. Given the chronological gap between the works of Kahneman Tversky and Spinoza s Ethics I was impressed by the actuality inherent to Spinoza s thought. While rational thought as the attribute of human mind has been considered for a long time as being superior to emotions, Spinoza argued that both the mind and the body were parallel attributes (call them manifestations) of the very same substance (Damasio, 1988: 12). The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a memory test Abstract The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition. There was a problem though; there was much work to do and not enough people to fill those positions. According to the professor of history at South Carolina State University, Doctor Stanley Harrold, The Atlantic slave trade began in Africa in the mid 1400s and lasted into the 19th century. Initially, Portuguese traders purchased small numbers of slaves from kingdoms on the western coast of Africa and transported them for sale in Portugal and Spain. The Atlantic slave trade did not become a huge enterprise until after European nations began colonizing the Americas during the 1500s. During the 1600s the Dutch pushed the Portuguese out of the trade and then contested the British and French for control of it. By 1713 Britain had emerged as the dominant slave trading nation. In all, the trade brought more than 10 million Africans to America... (Harrold). The slave trade started with only 20 slaves being brought to Virginia but the trade started to boom when the realization that slavers were cheaper than indentured servants and more abundant. The treatment of the African American slaves was deplorable. They were not treated as human beings but as disposable property. This gave rise to the Abolitionist Movement. The Movement did not gain any traction until The American Revolution (1775 1783) and the French Revolution (1789 1799), widely seen as revolutions by citizens against oppressive ... Within particular bounds, significant findings from an experimental study may infer a general cause, but the presence of other unmeasured variables can limit that inference. Limitations of Survey Instruments Surveys that are distributed with time constraints were noted by Delva, Kirby, Knapper, and Birtwhistle (2002) as problematic in that people who struggle with real or perceived time constraints are less likely to respond to surveys because these possible respondents feel overworked they just do not have the time to complete the survey. Surveys often also suffer the limitation of forcing respondents into particular response categories, thereby limiting the range of responses. Unlike an interview, where respondents can ask clarifying questions, respondents are usually limited to the text in the survey itself for direction about how to complete it and where to respond. Delimitations The delimitations of a study are those characteristics that arise from limitations in the scope of the study (defining the boundaries) and by the conscious exclusionary and inclusionary decisions made during the development of the study plan. Unlike limitations, which flow from implicit characteristics of method and design, delimitations result from specific choices by the researcher. Among these are the choice of objectives and ... In fact, saying yes should be required considering the number of wasted organs that could save numerous lives every day. On average, there are about 22 people on the transplant list who die each day while waiting for healthy organs. Also, every ten minutes, someone is added to the transplant list needing organs to keep them alive. Every time someone signs up to be a donor, they are saving 8 lives, but can also save and enhance more than 100 lives through tissue donation. Along with organs and tissue, there are many ways to be a donor. No matter if you re deceased or living you can be an organ donor. Kidneys, blood, bones, intestines and more can be donated while you re still living, but if you no longer need your heart pumping to live, why shouldn t there be a law to donate it to someone whose heart is failing? A person having a choice for donating their organs, not only puts a stressful decision on them, but puts stress on families as well who have a loved one waiting for healthy organs. ... An average of 6,000 people in the United States dies each day, which would save a countless number of lives on the transplant list. Eventually, one of those 6,000 people could possibly save my own life. Putting all of the facts aside, people have their own opinions about organ donation. Some may believe that there is no value in donating their organs to someone who only has hours left to live, but there is life. Life is the most valuable gift anyone can receive. • 33. Lab Report On Photosynthesis Daleigh Drgac Photosynthesis Lab Report Abstract These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light effect the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is very slow. Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesis that control what lights are used for that plant. Introduction Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their own nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose and oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are water, CO2 and energy. The two processes are continuously working together. We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested the effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to clear as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster photosynthetic process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no effect on the rate of photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors, such as red, blue, green, white, and no light. Our ... • 36. Cultural Changes In Fashion Fashion is a language that reveals a story about the person who wears it (Durcanin, 1999). What fashion is, changes constantly and men s fashion in particular is no different. Over the past 100 years men s fashion has reflect the social, economic, political and cultural changes happening in the world. During the roaring twenties, a time of excitement an eccentricity had an impact on fashion post WWII. This decade saw styles that were bright and fun. Every man had at least one suit with tighter fitting jacket, sloping shoulders, bow ties and regular ties now made from knit material instead of silk. Trousers also changed to a baggier look now worn with a belt instead of the usual suspenders, in addition to front creases and cuffs. The hat craze began with specific hats worn during specific months of the year; Panama straw or boater hats for summer, as well as felt fedoras for the colder months (Firchau, 2017). The fashion world in the 30s saw cutbacks and restructuring with the Great Depression, a time where fabric was rationed and production slowed reflecting the economic and social mindset of the decade. Suits made out of linen, flannel, wool and tweed, saw a change with broad shoulders, made even broader with the addition of shoulder pads, pants now had tapered legs and thin waists, to help reduce the amount of fabric used per suit, even the color echoed the somber mood of the population with dark and neutrals replacing the brighter colors used during the 20s. ... • 37. American Black Bear Essay The earliest American black bear fossils, which were located in Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania, greatly resemble the Asiatic species,[9] though later specimens grew to sizes comparable to grizzlies.[10] From the Holocene to present, American black bears seem to have shrunk in size,[2] but this has been disputed because of problems with dating these fossil specimens.[7] The American black bear lived during the same period as short faced bears (Arctodus simus and A. pristinus) and the Florida spectacled bear (Tremarctos floridanus). These Tremarctine bears evolved from bears that had emigrated from Asia to North America 7 8 ma.[11] The short faced bears are thought to have been heavily carnivorous and the Florida spectacled bear more herbivorous,[12] while the American black bears remained arboreal omnivores, like their Asian ancestors. The black bear s generalist behavior allowed it to exploit a wider variety of foods and has been given as a reason why, of these three genera, it alone survived climate and vegetative changes through the last ice age while the other more specialized North American predators became extinct. However, both Arctodus and Tremarctos had survived several other ice ages. After these prehistoric ursids became extinct during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
