3. The Occupy Wall Street Movement and Ensuing Controversy Essay
On September 17, 2011 hundreds of people began to gather in Zuccotti Park, New York which is
Wall Street s financial district under the banner Occupy Wall Street : these three simple words are
causing an uproar in America (Engler). Additionally, these three words happen to be protesting the
current status of America s financial condition. With the economy in America being as terrible as it
is, and the unemployment rate skyrocketing, it is absolutely necessary for some sort of change to
occur. The Occupy Wall Street protesting is most positively a progressive step for the economic
state in America and it is a step in the right direction.
It goes without saying that the Occupy Wall Street protestors are angry but what are they angry
about? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occupy Wall Street symbolizes their frustrations through the various occupying demonstrations,
signs, and most notably, their slogan: We are the 99% representing the growing inequality of the
wealthiest 1% of America s population and the rest of the country s citizens. The top 1% has more
than doubled their income over the last thirty years according to a Congressional Budget Office
(CBO) report. In 2007, the richest 1% owned 34.6% of the country s total wealth. After the Great
Recession and economic crisis the amount of the country s total wealth owned by the 1% grew
from 34.6% to 37.1%.
Now that it is known what characteristics of America Occupy Wall Street wants to improve or
simply eliminate, how exactly does this group plan to carry out these goals? This is one of the
primary criticisms of the movement. Many people believe that Occupy Wall Street lacks logical and
understandable demands (Stoeffel). However, anyone who studies this group will know precisely
what this social movement wishes to be accomplished. As stated before, Occupy Wall Street wants
more and better jobs, a more equal distribution of wealth and a diminution of the influence that big
businesses have on American government. Nevertheless, how is still an issue, but is it the average
99% of citizens duty to know how to fix a system that more than one group is unhappy with?
Another element of Occupy Wall Street s criticism is that there is no particular person in this
situation to blame. This

4. The Golden Age Of Piracy
Hollywood portrays pirates as swashbuckling outlaws with their own set of rules and loose morals,
nefarious hideouts, and adventure at every turn of their lives; but that s Hollywood. During the
Golden Age of Piracy, about 1550 to 1730, pirates did traverse the Atlantic almost completely
unchallenged; producing some of the most notorious pirates and privateers the world had ever seen.
But not all of these pirates were outlaws, most were actually legal. And their hideouts weren t really
hideouts at all; just cities that were afraid of the Spanish and thought the pirates could protect them.
And adventure? Well, some of the best and most infamous pirates didn t want the epic battles that
are pictured in many of today s films. Something else... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Question two; how did entire cities and islands become pirate hideouts? During the early
Colonial era, the Spanish reigned supreme in the Caribbean. They were rapidly colonizing the
islands of the Caribbean and gaining wealth with every step. These cities were afraid of being
overthrown by the Spanish and wanted protection from these invaders. One of the first to offer
up their ports was Port Royal, Jamaica. . Port Royal became one of the most infamous pirate
hideouts of all time and was considered the wickedest city on Earth . It all started in the mid
1600s when Jamaica s governors decided to allow all pirates and privateers, who were not
Spanish, to stay in return for protection from the Spanish. And of course, they accepted. Soon
after the city was filled with British and French privateers, including the famous Sir Henry
Morgan who used Port Royal as a sort of home base for his raids on Spanish strongholds such as
Portobello, Caratenga, and Panama City. By the 1660s, Port Royal was filled with every
disreputable establishment known to mankind. But by 1720, Jamaica had to cut relations with the
pirates due to raids on every ship that came into port. Port Royal then became known for pirate
hangings. Other cities and islands like New Providence, Bahamas, have similar stories to tell. But
one other island has a different story. Around 1630, French hunters, who occupied Hispaniola,
modern day Haiti, had to flee the island

5. The Theme Of Forbidden Love And Conflicts In Shakespeare s...
Around 30 B.C, Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, and Roman general and politician, Mark
Anthony were having an affair together. Frowned upon, the two ancient lovers kept their love
hidden and private. After Cleopatra and possibly her lover, Mark Anthony, had a war thrown on
them, they committed a double suicide protecting their love. Their suicides lead Rome and
Egypt to become allies and no longer enemies. The power of their forbidden love was an
inspiration for Shakespeare s theme. In his play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare s theme is
forbidden love can lead to consequences. Shakespeare uses plot and conflict to support this
theme throughout the play. Conflicts in Romeo and Juliet, and the plot support Shakespeare s
theme of a forbidden love can lead to consequences. For example, Romeo and Juliet fall in love
at a Capulet party before finding out each others families (act one, scene five). Once finding out
they are children of rivalries, their love becomes forbidden or not allowed. Knowing about each
other s families somehow made the love get stronger. Also, after challenging Romeo, Tybalt
approaches Romeo ( act three, scene one). Tybalt approaches Romeo in a rude manner, but Romeo
continues to stay clam and avoid any conflict because he is secretly married to Juliet. The... Show

scene three). The tragic death of the two lovers led to the families to realize their children

6. The Controversy Over Free Will And Determinism
Introduction
It has been debated over centuries whether us humans have control over our destiny, and if we
are really able to decide on our own. The controversy between free will and determinism has been
argued about for years. If we look into a dictionary, free will is define as the power given to
human beings to be able to make free choices that is unconstrained by external circumstances or a
force such as fate or divine intervention. Determinism is defined as a philosophical doctrine that
every event, act, and decision is the inescapable consequence of antecedents that are independent of
the human will. Determinism states that humans have no free will to choose what they wish. Due to
this fact, contemporary philosophers cannot agree whether free will does exist, let alone it be a
divine influence.
Three major Beliefs
There are three major arguments in the thought of free and they are libertarianism, compatibilism,
and fatalism. There are both a religious and secular position for this argument. The religious aspect
of free will is that it is an objective by God, while the secular position is subjective to causal
determinism and the effect of the physical and concrete things on the process of decision making.
In an article by Alvin Plantinga he tackled a few types of compatibilism, and he believes that he
has found an objective to serve as a middle ground in the free will debate. Plantinga believes that
God had already began the process, with an abrupt cause, and since

7. The Help Character Analysis
Ever morning, until you die in the ground, you gone have to make a decision. You gone have to
ask yourself, am I gone believe what them fools say about me today? (Stockett 73). This quote is
from Constantine, who was an influential person to Skeeter in the novel The Help. She is
illustrating how hard it can be to live in an area where diversity makes you an outcast. Throughout
this book the hardships of being alienated are obvious and daunting; this can be seen through the
lossof loved ones, white privilege, and personal relationships. Loss of a loved one is one of the
many themes that was portrayed in the book The Help. One of the many losses that is brought up
numerous times, is when Skeeter loses her childhood maid Constantine. Throughout the book
Skeeter was determined to find out the truth about Constantine s disappearance. By the end of the
book she finds out Constantine was forced out by Skeeter s mother. Skeeter also loses her first
love. When Stuart finally gets down on one knee Skeeter feels the pressure to tell him about the
book she has written. As I would suspect Stuart s response was I don t... think I can marry
somebody I don t know (Stockett 449), ending their relationshipin its entirety. Celia also
experienced several losses throughout the book. With Minny as a witness, Celia lost several of
her babies through miscarriage. She became depressed and felt completely broken; she even
tried to drink molasses as a remedy to prevent miscarriages. In the beginning she refused to tell
her husband, but by the end she chooses to share the bad news. Lastly Aibileen tragically lost
her son Treelore along with Mae Mobley witch was one of the babies she was watching. Aibileen
s son was only twenty four years old when he was struck down by a tractor trailer at work. By the
time Aibileen found out it was too late. These are all prime examples of how the book portrays
the loss of loved ones. Along with the loss of loved ones there was also a constant theme of white
privilege. Although the book was written to bring awareness to white privilege there were many
cases of racismtowards blacks. One of the many examples of white privileges, was when Hilly
tried to convince all the white households to get a

8. A Comparison Of The InterlopersAndMending Wall
You listen to your parents right? You believe most of the things they tell you because they are the
ones who are trying to guide you in the right direction. Well while most of the things they tell you
are good they may tell you some things that may not be the right way to look at things.
In the poems The Interlopers and Mending Wall by Saki and Robert Frostthey show how some of
the traditions passed on from generation to generation can affect people in the wrong way.
ВЁThe InterlopersВЁ is about two families that are in a family feud over a piece of land to hunt
even though this land Ian s is absolute trash. Mending Wall is about two neighbors that have built
a wall between their property just two go back every Spring they have to rebuild it because it
keeps falling apart every winter and between these two neighbors one believes that they should get
rid of the wall the other is.
Detail and Epiphany. For Mending Wall the narrator has an epiphany about the use of the wall and
that they don t need it. For detail at the start of the poem he describes how beaten up and broken
the wall is. For Epiphany in Interlopers they get the sudden thought that they don t need to be in
such a rivalry between each other. For detail the narrator describes the forest and how it is no good
for hunting.
Through their use of detail, Saki and Frost convey the idea that not all traditions should be passed
on from generation to generation.
The epiphany of the two men realizing that there is no reason for them to hate each other
Over the bad hunting land. When both Ulrich and Georg square off both with rifle in hand
aimed directly at each other when out of nowhere nature interrupts the two with A fierce shriek
of the storm had been answered by a splitting crash over their heads, and ere they could leap
aside, a mass of falling beech tree had thundered down on them. After nature had played its role
in the argument they both lie there struggling to hang on the bit of life they still have left they

employment of that individual that is employed. When the unemployment rate was near a all
time high not too long ago. There was more than enough citizens not receiving healthcare. The
access to health care for citizens in the USA is very out of sync. The USA have by far the most
expensive health care in the world. One of the reasons for this is the majority of health care is
provided by private owners, which are for profit and are able to raise the price of treatment. Due
to the rising cost of medical insurance providers, business are often forced to drop their benefits
for employers. Which are increasing the problem of health insurance. To describe a system of
health in the USA as of today with Obamacare passed. Customers who are without insurance
search for insurance on the marketplace, and choose the plan they wants with a private sector or if
qualified with basic coverage with government supplemental plans for the struggling income
household. The ones who benefit the most of this system are stock holders and health providers,
with the ability to control the price of medical treatment and care. The losers in the America
regarding health care are the low income household and the unemployed who are unable to afford
healthcare. It will be fair to say the USA, health system is Capitalistic based.

12. Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a short story from the late nineteenth century focusing on a
young woman as she reacts to a report that says her husband, on the top of the list of the report, had
died in a train accident. Due to this unfortunate accident she is given the chance of freedom and
Chopin s story tells that hour.
The main theme to this short story one may think it relates to the saying, carpe diem , meaning to
seize the day. The themes of this short story include oppression and repression. In the late
nineteenth century, society wanted women to take care of their children, cook, and keep the house
clean. This short story hints that Mrs. Mallard s husband was in charge of his wife. Jamil states that
a woman is not expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A piece of irony from the short story was the title of the story, The Story of an Hour. This may be
ironic to one because, just by the title being stated, the story must have happened within an hour,
but Kate Chopin made it seem like it lasted a couple of days. This is ironic because Mrs. Mallard
only needed an hour to know that she did not need her husband anymore to be happy and live.
But, it would take another wife, maybe a few years to fully recover from a spouse s death. The
main irony one may see the most is in the end of the story in paragraph twenty three when Katie
Chopin states …joy that kills (Chopin, 2). Jamil states Louise is the joy that she refuses to
surrender, as the patriarchy would require her to do at Brently s return. But, for one climactic
hour of her life, Louise does truly taste joy. (220) This is an ironic sentence at the end of the
story due to the doctors believed that Mrs. Mallard was happy to see her husband alive and in
one piece. The ending was very ironic because of the outcome of Mrs. Mallard. The whole story
was a rising action until you got to her death at the end of the story. The author made it seem that
there was so much for Mrs. Mallard to live for, but when Mrs. Mallard saw her husband, alive,
there was not anything worth living for to Mrs.

There were two Opium Wars. The first one was from 1839 1842. This war was fought between
China and Britain. This war was fought over the two not seeing eye to eye on a lot of things.
The second Opium War was from 1856 1860. In this war the British forces fought toward the
legalization of the Opium trade. The reason they did this was to be able to expand coolie trace, to
be able to open all of China to British merchants, and also to be able to expand foreign imports
from internat transit duties. This was when France then joined the British. In this essay we are

14. Juxtaposition In The Destructors
There are two types of fiction, literary and commercial. Because the former is more intricate, the
literary approach is often taken while writing meaningful short fiction meant to convey a deeper
truth. Therefore, in order for a short story to be thought provoking, it must be of the literary variety,
which contains complex structure, round characters, and themes that are evident through symbolic
elements within the story. This can best be shown through the juxtaposition and comparison of the
commercial story, The Most Dangerous Game, against the literary story, The Destructors.
Something that is able to generate thought in the mind of the reader is effective characterization,
done through the usage of characters who have deep emotional... Show more content on

Therefore, a symbolic structure is necessary in creating an atmosphere of thought inside the
reader, as it will allow for deeper analytical exploration of the story as a whole. The structure of a
story can act as a symbol and provide a portrayal of the plot, as seen prominently within The
Destructors, since the story is formatted in an interesting way that works to parallel the events
occurring. The structure is interesting, as there are four sections, all with little or no transition
between them. Important information about the context of the time of day is purposely left out by
Greene, the author, to symbolize the disjointedness of the boys lives. This is shown explicitly in
the transition, or lack thereof, from section one to two. Section two begins after a conversation
between the boys has ended, and section 1 skips to the beginning of the next day. Here, the
structure purposely caused the reader to jump ahead in time and miss the events that take place in
between the omitted periods of time. The reader does not get to know what is occurring there. By
generating the feeling of missed time, the structure acts to symbolize the literal discombobulation
within the boys lives, and how the Blitz stripped them of their previous sense of normality in day to
day life. The disconnectedness of the formation of the story mirrors the physical acts of destruction
depicted in the story, since the structure itself is unruly. When the reader compares this story to the
commercial story The Most Dangerous Game, it is apparent that it is more thought out, as the
structure of The Most Dangerous Game is ordinary, and does not convey any larger meaning about
the story as a whole. It contains dialogue and description, however this is to further the plot instead
of illustrating other intricate ideas.

15. Athenian Vs. Spartan Women
Despite Athenian and Spartans being associates of the same influential nation, these two states or
Peloi and denominations of people in Ancient Greece in (400BC) were substantially different. The
women in their own distinct societies endured several problematic issues and experienced inequity,
demoralisation and condemnation. The notion of women and their purpose was typically
conjectured by men in society, specifically Aristotle who claimed that women brought disorder,
were evil, were utterly useless and caused more confusion than the enemy . However despite
misogynistic, biased and loathsome perspectives of women, both Athenian and Spartan women
have all played exceedingly significant roles and contributed substantially to the prosperity of
Ancient Greek society in their own inimitable ways. Daily life was one of the most distinguishable
factors of Athenian and Spartan women, and it varied depending on social status. The communal
job of Athenian women was confinement to daily life in their domain; the home or oikos ,
immersing themselves in domestic activities. This notion was verified by ancient writer
Xenophon; ...Thus, to be woman it is more honourable to stay indoors than to abide in the fields...
.They were responsible for various jobs in order to support their families including cooking meals
and producing textiles. The majority of affluent women had established slave work in their homes;
hence they verified their decadence by not partaking in laborious work

When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect

shrieking with him. No matter how many times I tried scratching the tortured sounds out of my
ears, it stayed. I jolted out of my desk and fell with a thump on the linoleum floor. I heard
muffled giggles and outright laughing. The sounds blended and the wailing started again. I
looked around frantically at all the delighted faces. My eyes finally stopped on the steel desk

frightened gasps ripping out of my chest. I looked around at the blur of faces again and buried

20. Hunting Should Not Be Banned
In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by
sportsmen ( MARC FOLCO: Some hunting, fishing quotes to live by ). Hunters are the leading
source for all conservation programs. Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most passionate hunters.
People put down huntinglike it s a bad thing. Many hunters contribute billions of dollars the the
economy. Hunting should not be banned because of the positive impacts it has on society. Through
strictly regulated hunting we have reintroduced and repopulated various game species into areas
where they were previously wiped out due to extremely excessive hunting by settlers. In the early
1900s all of Indiana s whitetail deerwere virtually extinct. By the 1930s whitetail deer were
beginning to be reintroduced into Indiana. In just 20 years after initial reintroduction the population
was at a sustainable level so that regulated modern hunting programs could begin. Conservationism
has been a necessity to the ecology of the United States and many other countries around the
world. The U.S. Forest Service by itself manages 193 million acres of public land nationwide or
roughly 8% of the total land in the United States. The management of this land would not be
feasible without the funding hunters provide through licenses, tags, and stamps. The 193 million
acres does not include any public recreational land on the state level. There is 2,260,380 acres of
public hunting land in all the states

If I asked you to conjure up an image of a modern American Jewish celebration, chances are you
would picture the stereotypical circle dance with the catchy, repetitive song chanting Hava Nagila
. But can this dance, the hora (h) 1, truly be classified as Jewish? In this paper, I will examine the
voyage the hora traveled during the 1880s from Romania to Israel, where newly settled Jewish
immigrants adopted it as their own ( Israel ). Roughly forty years later, Baruch Agadati, a Jewish
choreography, modified the Romania hora, allowing Eastern Europeans the opportunity to use the
dance as a vehicle to create their new identity within Israel. The performance of this new dance in

The festival was located in the Kibbutz Dalia in the northern region of Israel and took place over

come to a standstill (Friedhaber, 1985; Ingber). Nevertheless, Kadman continued on with her
plan, providing the alternative name of the Davka Festival. She decided to co name the festival
that because davka means in spite of or signifying resistance and an indomitable spirit

the Hora Agadati that eventually revolutionized into the Israeli Horah. Alongside the Hora
Agadati, Kadman recruited a mixture of a few Israeli dances that were also newly constructed, in
addition to copious foreign folk dances that she saw around the country (Rosenblit; Roginsky).
Approximately 3,500 visitors from all over Israel came to watch the 200 dancers, as well as

there seems to be lesser research on the educationsystem that feeds into these work opportunities. It
is vital to note that the disadvantage for women in STEM starts well before they enter the

Because there is less opportunity to switch between STEM industries, and because individuals
cannot enter the STEM industries without a strong, targeted scientific background, it is key to
focus on developing an effective educational system to feed women into the STEM workforce.
Granted, it must be noted that there is a high rate of women dropping out of scientific industries
after having graduated, or having worked in the field. Research has shown that 38% of women
who earn engineering degrees leave, or never enter that workforce (American Psychological
Association, 2014). However, it is vital to keep in mind that this statistic is 38% of the few women
who graduate with an engineering degree in the first place.
Not only are there few women earning STEM degrees, but there are also few female and university
science teachers. A study reported that in high schools across the country, about 44% of science
teachers were females (Bottia et al. 2015). Although this number seems to be very close to 50%, the
study explains that this small gender discrepancies among science teachers have a profound impact
on the number of students who decide to pursue a STEM degree. And that high schools which have
more female STEM teachers, largely raise the chances of producing women who will

24. Theories Of Progressive Education
Progressive Learning Theory in the US
Sarah Cooper Rashaell Keating
John Dewey s Progressive Learning Theory is defined as any various reformist educational
philosophies and methodologies since the late 1800s, applied especially to elementary schools, that
reject the rote recitation and strict discipline of traditional, single classroom teaching, favoring
instead more stimulation of the individual pupil as well as group discussion, more informality in
the classroom, a broader curriculum, and use of laboratories, gymnasiums, etc. in the school. It is
essentially an umbrella theory for many theories that have contributed to what is known as,
Progressive Education.
Key Influences Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (1782 1852) was a German pedagogue and
educator who first coined the term kindergarten in 1840. His main contribution was realizing the
importance of activity of the child, such as free work and games, in learning and that each child
learns differently and has different capabilities. He was a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi
(1746 1827) who felt that individuals best learned through experiences and through a direct
manipulation and experience of objects and children were intrinsically motivated.
Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776 1841) was a German philosopher, psychologist and founder of
pedagogy as an academic discipline. According to Herbart, abilities were not innate but could be

Neurological disorders often occur due to failure of proper brain development or appropriate
maintenance of neuronal circuits. CRISPR/Cas9 is now used extensively to genetically alter the
genomes of various species. The ability of CRISPR/Cas9 to remove DNA sequences and correct
DNA mutations opens a new route to treat genetic diseases that are caused by DNA mutations. In
this assignment, I ll try to discuss how to apply CRISPR/Cas9 to establish animal models of

APPLICATION OF CRISPR TECHNOLOGY
Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease(PD) and Huntington
s disease (HD), have some common characteristics like the age dependent gathering of misfolded
proteins and selective neurodegeneration. Animal models are highly valued and have been used
widely to study neurological disorders and to find therapeutic aims for them. Because genetic DNA
mutations can cause several neurodegenerative diseases, the ability of CRISPR/Cas9 to directly
target any gene in one or two alleles of the embryonic genome opens a new route for using this new
technology producing animal models of neurodegenerative diseases. The traditional gene targeting
technology made it difficult to establish large animal models of human diseases due to the lack of
embryonic stem cell lines. Since large animals are closer to humans, their disease models may more
faithfully mimic the clinical symptoms of patients and are important for exploring the mechanisms
and treatment of both neuropsychiatric disorders and age related neurodegenerative diseases.
CRISPR/Cas9 was found to functionally disrupt the dystrophin gene in founder monkeys and
causes the same muscle atrophy phenotype seen in patients. Thus, when both alleles are mutated by
CIRSPR/Cas9, the complete loss of Parkin or Pink1will mimic the genetic mutations in PD patients.

Individuals from the lower class were seen as nonsensical, juvenile, superstitious, ruthless,

The Looming Shadow If life could be solved on good intentions alone then the government
would be revered as a miracle worker, unfortunately in reality good intentions are often followed
by those who would seek to profit from them Across American history this trait is a pattern that
has repeated itself numerous of times, from the past century alone good intentions created the
great depression and the savings and Loans collapse. Most recently the new good intention
became low income families, and from it blossomed a thorny rose of a new standard of business
ethics. The intention of assisting low income families started becoming more prevalent under
Bill Clinton s administration, and can traced to 1992 with the creation of the Office of Federal
Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). In time, from administration to administration while
people either looked away or got paid under the table the remaining ethics of every the American
industry vanished, leaving in its wake a crisis which even today remains as a shadow on the
minds of all Americans. A shadow greater than the one created by the explosion of the USS

shadow remains is because of that very vanishing ethics, which had created it under the guise of
good intentions starting with OFHEO. In 1992 the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety

Maternity leave provisions can include 2 to 30 weeks paid at 100% of the employee s salary

countries. The OECD calculated the average paid maternity leave in the member countries to be

average paid maternity leave benefits, including industrialized economies like the United
Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, and Italy. On top of maternity leave, most OECD members also
have an additional paid parental and home care leave available only to mothers. The
organization summarizes this benefit in Figure 2 which shows that its average for the 38
member countries is about 37 weeks, with an average payout of 45% of the employee s original

Mona and I had an interesting talk about how her family mixed the American and Italian cultures
together while they were raising her. She told me that many of the traditions and rituals to
commemorate a death in Italy are not practiced in the United States. This is mainly due to the
villages in Italy being so small, allowing the people to be more familiar with each other. A funeral
in Italydepends a great deal on the family and their financial position in the village. The more
money, the more prestigious and elaborate the event would be. Mona said that the deceased is
kept in a casket at the family home, and that people come to the house to remember the dead.
The family decorates the door of their home indicating that a death has occurred, and they also
put a table outside, in front of the house, with pictures of the deceased on it. They also post
notices all over town telling that a death has occurred, and about the life of the deceased. These
things are the families way of letting the village knows that someone has died. After everyone has

4.2 Implementation Details 4.2.1 Data Source Random Bernoulli generator generates binary
data on a per frame basis. In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36
Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in
OFDM based systems is a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power
amplifiers usually have a limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant
amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add
constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of the signals
thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear amplifications cause errors.
Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the data is coded with a
convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator
polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the

compared with 25 per cent of girls (Robinson, 2009) .
The 1988 Education Reform Act helped to create a broad national curriculum which balanced
the subject choices of boys and girls in order to progress in making education more equal. As
languages had been a preferred subject choice for girls and science for boys now both genders
had to participate in both and had equal opportunities for success and access. English, maths and
science were all made compulsory until 16 years of age, the time of GCSEs. This way it was
expected boys would have matured and would have a more equal representation in their results as
well as broadening the subject knowledge to boys and girls.
The fact that girls perform better than boys is statistically proven. In 2006 at GCSE level exam
results for both sexes had continued to improve, yet boys success rates had only this year reached
that of girls in 1999 (Smithers, 2006). According to Miller (n.d) the educational gender gap in
Britain in bigger than any other developed country especially

39. Children With Scis And Caregivers Living
This project is developed to educate patients with SCIs and caregivers living in the New York
City (NYC) and Long Island areas of New York as they are the primary audiences. Data that will
be collected are responses of face to face interview questions to patients that center on function in
daily living. These questions will be evaluated to determine the appropriate resources gathered for
them along with the agency based on the responses. The awareness of these resources can help
people living with SCIs reduce developing conditions that affect their mental and social health, such
as depression (World Health Organization, 2015). The project will specifically benefit persons
living with SCIs and their caregivers because they can become... Show more content on

As well, I am able to provide the resources that I have gathered relating to SCIs to patients and
others impacted by it.
A health theory that applies to the project on SCIs is the social cognitive theory because it describes
a dynamic, ongoing process in which personal factors, environmental factors, and human behavior
exert influence upon each other (National Cancer Institute, pp. 19, 2005). Three main factors of the
social cognitive theory that affect the likelihood of a person performing a behavior are self
efficacy, goals, and outcome expectancies (National Cancer Institute, pp. 20, 2005). A goal of
this project is to help improve or maintain the self efficacy of people living with SCIs and their
caregivers, leading to them to have a better quality of life. Self efficacy is defined as confidence in
the ability of a person to overcome barriers and take action (National Cancer Institute, pp. 20, 2005).
The projected outcomes benefitting the agency and me, stated earlier in this section, can assist

behavior, which is to utilize the resources that they are provided. This can lead to the improvement
of the function of the patient, which implies the benefit of their physical, mental and

40. Polio Virus Essay
Polio Virus
Introduction
The polio virus which causes poliomyelitis in humans is an enterovirus which belongs to the
picornavirus (small, RNA) family. Polio virus is rapid, acid resistant, stable, highly tissue specific
and consists of a single stranded, positive RNA. Polio virus is able to reside in the throat or intestinal
tract of humans. Poliomyelitis is a highly contagious infectious disease which has three strains,
poliovirus 1 (PV1), PV2 and PV3. Polio virus, although rare in developed countries, can be found
in many under developed countries due to the uncommonness of vaccinations there. Polio is
known as a disease of development. The oldest known record of polio is in an Egyptian stone
engraving of a young priest from 1350 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Receptor mediated endocytosis is thought to take the receptor into the cell. Polio virus is tissue
tropic, meaning it replicates only in specific tissue types, generally lymphoid tissue in the
pharynx and intestine. After uncoating, polio virus, which is an RNA virus, takes a single RNA
molecule in its protective capsid. This RNA can be converted directly to a protein in the
cytoplasm. The virus must then replicate its RNA using viral RNA directed RNA polymerase.
After replication of its own RNA, the virus must package the new RNA into capsids in order to
infect more cells.
Transmission
After replication in the mouth and intestine, polio virus spreads through the body via the blood.
Polio virus is contained in the Peyer s patches of the small intestine. Transmission to the central
nervous system and neuronal cell destruction is seen in a small number of infected individuals.
Damage
Polio virus affects humans by a lytic cycle. PV1 which is usually associated with epidemics
causes paralysis and consequently the most deaths. PV2 normally causes meningitis and a less
severe paralysis. PV3 is usually associated with sporadic cases of polio virus. The majority of
polio cases include only diarrhea symptoms or the individual is completely asymptomatic. Five
percent of polio cases show flu like symptoms of fever, malaise, headache, nausea, sore throat, upset
stomach, and achy muscles. In one percent of

41. Correlation Between Domestic Violence, Rape, And Assault
Law Enforcement
The negative portrayals and stigmas attached to BDSM has made it difficult for the community to
be understood by society. This is especially the case with the justice system. There has been an
association created between domestic violence, rape, and assault with BDSM acts. There is no
denying that domestic violence, rape, and assault occur in BDSM, but one should not generalize an
entire community based on the acts of a few individuals. This stigma attached to BDSM does
create issues for the community; especially when the justice system becomes involved. For
example, for several individuals calling the police after engaging in a BDSM activity may be
difficult due to the negative image and potentially embarrassing labels attached ... Show more

For instance, many dominatrices are being portrayed as prostitutes in society because of how
commercialized it has become. The act of being a dominatrix has been shifting into a spectrum of
making a decent amount of money in a short time frame, in which the authenticity of being a
dominatrix has lost its identity because more women are making it into a profession instead of
viewing it as a lifestyle (Lindemann, 2010). Even though authentic dominatrices do not participate
in penetrative sex, more individuals are treating BDSM play as a form of prostitution because
there has been a change of symbolic meaning concerning BDSM sex as a lifestyle to prostitution.
This then creates an even more fragmented view of what a dominatrix lifestyle involves, in which
further stigma will be associated with BDSM. A consequence of the fragmented construction of
BDSM sex, especially as a dominatrix, is when the submissive begins to take control when paying
for certain sexual acts like one would pay a prostitute, in which the dominating role is taken away
from the dominatrix (Lindemann,

42. Plate Tectonic Analysis
The plate tectonic theory states that rigid plates slowly ride on the molten mantle. The boundaries
between the plates are known to serve as an important mineral resource. Three types of tectonic
plate exist: convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. A convergent boundary represents two
plates moving towards each other mostly forming a subduction. When two plates move away from
each other, a divergent boundary is formed. In transform boundaries, the plates move laterally past
each other (Mission, 2016).
Within the mid ocean ridges forming a divergent boundary, a zone of low pressure is formed
allowing magma to rise to the surface. Potentially valuable metals are present in the hot magma.
The valuable deposits are further concentrated by leaching of metals from water permeating the
rocks (Mission, 2016). The water circulating through the rocks is heated by the magma forming
hydrothermal fluids. The hot hydrothermal fluids form black smokers covering the sea floor and
are rich in sulfur containing minerals, for instance, galena, a lead sulfide, and pyrite, an iron sulfide
(Mission, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The volcanoes heat up water percolating through the rocks and the dissolved minerals are carried
to surrounding rocks. This kind of deposit represents the majority of world s copper supply
(Mission, 2016). Mineral veins and pegmatite are formed once the magma cools. An example of a
mineral vein is the Mother Lode of the Sierra Nevada containing gold deposits. Once volcanic
mountains from subduction erode, portions of silver, gold or other metals may flow into streams
and their accumulation forms placer deposits. Other resources are the Ophiolites, a rich source of
chromium which is formed from portions of oceanic crust emplaced on continents after subduction
events (Sharma,

43. Lean Supply Chain Of Management
Introduction
The concept of lean that is an essential approach that is team based on a continued improvement
that aim on the elimination of activities which does not add value according to the customers
viewpoint, in one way or another has been around for many years. This paper define and discuss
the lean supply chain, determine the potential risks and effects of a corporation and also give a
description of the potential solutions to reduce the negative effects on a corporation supply chain
management, inventory management or profitability. The supply chain of management involves
many areas from the difficult to easy topics. As an independent field, Supply chain of management

Most activities that are executive in the supply chain are beneficial from lean thinking, for instance,
picking, packing and loading and unloading activities in cooperation.
Lean suggests the need for the supply chain to exploit the limited resources for an efficient
completion of the job. Inventory, trucks warehouses, laborers and the capital for working are the
primary sources in the supply chain (Myerson, 2012). The lean supply chain is designed to include
inventories in the framework, warehousing space that is minimal to keep these inventories. It will
also design to the establishment of long term, supply contracts that are stable with a negotiated cost
that is low, typically without any substantial ability to alter ordered quantities.it will also design
the destination of delivery and design the date required after there is an order placed. All these
factors will minimize the supply chain cost operations making it efficient in cost and will constrain
the ability of supply chain for the adaptation of any demand and supply changes. The supply chains
should manage variability and an exclusive aim on lean that prevents supply chains to design an
effective to manage the natural variability and then from doing the work that are important to them.
At many cooperations, they have several products to manage where these products vary widely in
demand and lead time patterns, the supply chain enterprise should be designed to work on

44. Summary OfThe Dwelling In Fuchin Mountains
The Dwelling In Fuchin Mountains was created by Haung Dongwang. It s a hand painted scroll
using ink to paint during the yanug dynasty. This piece shows the area between Fuchin river, its
mostly He painted this peace in his later years. This piece gives you a feeling of a larger landscape
that could stretch even further than most would think. It makes me think of Fan Kauns Travelers
By Streams and Mountains. The compositions are different, but the idea of using a sort atmosphere
feeling that you get from a lot of Chinese ink painting. As author Hung Sheng explains Haung
Dongwang used many ink and brush techniques. Two of the main techniques shown are hemp fiber
textural strokes and alum head textural strokes. Hemp fiber strokes were mostly used to describe
boulders, while alum head strokes were mostly used small angular rocks on top of hills.
These painting techniques show the influences of master ink paintings done by Dong Yaung and
Jaurn. Huang s Dwelling in Fuchin Mountains shows not only that, but beautiful composition that
enhances the brush strokes. Daiost painting like this show off the purity of the landscape almost
like its untouched and seems like we re looking at a remote part of the world that no one else has
ever seen. Culture this painting shows something different than what we have seen in early
landscape painting in class or most American paintings after this time which depict the day or a
specific event. While Chinese painting showed a sort of journey

45. Emily Dickinson 409 Analysis
Emily Dickinson is one of the most influential figures in American literature. Her unusual
character and style has made her become one of America s best and most original poets of all
time. She composed almost 1800 poems, but fewer than a dozen were published in her lifetime. In
her poems, she expresses her feelings about identity, religion, nature, love, and death. Her poems tell
us a lot about her lifestyle, which was very private and reserved from society. In poems 260 and 409
it talks about the theme of identity. Although they consist of the same theme, there are differences
in meaning, tone, and narration.
Emily Dickinson demonstrates how identity is something she envies as reflected in poem 260. This
poem talks about how an individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poem 409 is about a soul that searches for their place in society. The first stanza mentions how the
soul searches for where it belongs and it does not consider anyone else but itself, therefore we
should not expect too much. The middle stanza Unmoved she notes the chariots pausing at her low
gate unmoved an emperor be kneeling Opon her mat, emphasize the Soul s rigid attitude toward
anyone trying to enter into her Society; even chariots, even an emperor, cannot persuade her. The
third stanza I ve known her from an ample nation choose one then close the valves of her attention

everyone else. Another person may these 3 stanzas as the story of as a selfish soul however, we
can not assume their character without a fully detailed story of its journey to finding its place. The
author definitely made it clear that she understood the different ways that an individual figure
themselves out. The tone of the poem is a bit more mysterious and intimidating in some ways and
definitely shows the value of individuality and identity together.
Identity is a common theme in both poems that are discussed above. Although this is the case, the
way that identity is conveyed is completely different. Poem 290 takes a playful tone whereas the
tone of poem 409 is quieter, imposing,

46. Serious Crimes in the Uniform Crime Report
The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is consisted of two parts, part one and part two. Part one
crimes are the eight most serious offenses, which is murder, rape, assault, robbery, burglary,
arson, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Part two crimes are all other crimes except the ones in
part one. They also include drug offenses, sex crimes, and vandalism. The UCR is a large
database that stores all the information of the crimes that are reported and arrests made each year
in the USA. The method used to get the information to the FBI is complex. Each month a law
enforcement agencies report the count of part one crimes. The advantage of UCR is that people
can see what kinds of crimes happen in a specific area. The disadvantage of UCR is that many of
the serious crimes are not reported because the victims think that the crimeis unimportant, they don t
trust the police, or involved in something illegal during the time of the crime.
The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is also consisted of two parts but
includes offenses such as runaways, vagrancy, embezzlement, drug offenses and bribery. The
NIBRS gives you a brief account of each incident and arrests; it includes the incident, victim, and
the offender s information. The advantage of NIBRS is that it has a broader development on
crimes and is more accurate then the UCR. The disadvantage is that only twenty states have this
crime report system that s less then half of the US.
