To test a sample of laboratory prepared bacteria and categorise it according to Christian s gram
positive and gram negative classes and also by viewing it under a high powered microscope and oil
immersions; classify its shape and note any special characteristics.

11. Leave the slide to air dry.
B. Examination:
1. Place the slide under microscope on low powered lens. 2. Move the slide using the apparatus until
the sample can be seen as a blur under the microscope.
3. Focus the lens to ensure that there is a sample directly under the lens. 4.
Move to higher powered lens, repeat step 3. 5. Move to higher powered lens, repeat step 3 6. Move
microscope aside and add Oil immersion, leave for a few seconds and re examine the slide.

Results and Observations:
It was evident by visual examination that the alcohol was de colouring or a least partially de colouring
the bacteria. The sample appeared a dark pink or close to violet by the naked eye; a microscope was
needed to ensure results. Under the low powered microscope shades of pink were noted. Under the
medium power, the shades were more clear but no shape could be made out. Under the high powered
microscope clumps of pink rod (bacilli) shaped bacteria cells could be observed. Under Oil Immersion

and high powered lens the cells could seen more spaced out and thus a clearer indication of the pink
colour, bacilli shape and spores could be made out in the individual cells.
Conclusion:
The Shape was noted as Bacilli (Rod like) shaped cells; a gram variable shape, distinct in either Gram

This hypothesis is that of national location. The philosophy behind this political positioning suggests
that in an issue such as European integration there will be more variation seen in countries that have
more diverse social and economic factors involved in policy making. The article suggests that with
this hypothesis that issues will be decided on by parties potentially depending on what is in the best
interest at tat time based on the national feeling that is present in their respective countries. This
hypothesis is certainly well founded in the idea of European integration as if national interests are
largely in favor of integration it stands to follow that parties and policy would likewise be in favor.
Still, the next hypothesis that is given, the median supporter, also makes sense for parties and shifting
stances. In this parties would generally change their stances just enough to create the most potential to
gather a maximum amount of votes. This would allow parties in the case of European integration to
stick safely to the ideals of their average voter which would potentially allow for the most
representatively accurate ideas to take force. This meaning that if this hypothesis were correct political
parties would correspondingly move towards integration with their average voters perspective in mind
so as to appeal to the most voters as possible.

People who believe in the American Dream believe that those who come to America and work hard in
what they aspire to be can earn a better life for themselves. Its beliefs like these that give the biggest
disillusionment for people that want to come to America for a better future for their family or for
themselves. The American Dream can be both moving and inspiring, but it is also problematic, leading
to the possibility of failure and disappointments. The Buddha in the Attic, by Julie Otsuka, exemplifies
this belief with a story about Japanese women that come to America for a better life. It illustrates that
the American dream is a failed dream for those who immigrate to America. The novel The Buddha in
the Attic by Julie Otsuka, follows the lives of a group of young women as picture brides as they travel
by boat to America waiting to meet their future husbands and hoping for the American dream. They
work hard beside their husbands to make a place for themselves and possibly create a family. After the
bombing of Pearl Harbor, however, the American dream turns into a nightmare as the Japanese are
forced to leave behind the things for which they have worked so hard and are sent to interment camps.
The book is composed of eight different sections of the group of women. Each section outlines the
major highlights of the women s lives following their journey through America that eventually meet to
deception. The theme of novel portrays broken dreams and is illustrated through out each section of
the novel. In the beginning, it was explained that the group of Japanese women were immi grating to
America traveling with high hopes and anxiously waiting to meet their soon to be husbands. With no
idea who they were about to marry, the group of women had only pictures of the men that kept the
empty idea of who they were about to spend the rest of their lives with and potentially start a new

One of the ways Salyer used ethos in a very effective way to argue his claim was when he said, They

Throughout most of the wartime eras of the United States, there has been a symbiotic relation between
the military and institutions of higher education. This relationship was precipitated by the Morrill Act
of 1862, which provided grants of public land to states to establish institutions of higher learning to be
operated in conjunction with state and federal governments (Renne, 1960). One particular focus of the
land grant institutions was to focus on the teaching of military tactics. Considered an afterthought
