Effects Of The Battle Of Coral Harbor On Pearl Harbor
The Japanese saw the U.S. as a threat to their expansion aspirations in Asia. Their strategy was to find
a way to impede the U.S. long enough to finish their goal. This resulted in the attack of Pearl Harbor.
During this time, Japanese also set up offenses in American controlled regions in the Pacific such as
the Philippines, Guam and Midway islands. Under the leadership of General Douglass MacArthur,
some battles ended in defeat like the Philippines. American and Filipino prisoners of the Battle of
Bataan resulted in a Death March. Prisoners would either die going to the camps or at the camps. The
war started looking brighter with the Battle of the Coral Sea, with the US slowing down Japanese
advancement. Soon, the Japanese s plan to knock

Plato Essay
Plato
Biography
Plato was born in Athens of an aristocratic family. He recounts in the Seventh Letter, which, if
genuine, is part of his autobiography, that the spectacle of the politics of his day brought him to the
conclusion that only philosophers could be fit to rule. After the death of Socrates in 399, he travelled
extensively. During this period he made his first trip to Sicily, with whose internal politics he became
much entangled. He visited Sicily at least three times in all and may have been richly subsidised by
Dionysius. On return from Sicily he began formal teaching at what became the Academy.
Plato is generally regarded as the inventor of the philosphical argument as we know it, and many
would claim that the depth and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But no otherDialogue of Plato has the same largeness of view and the sameperfection of style; no
other shows an equal knowledge of the world,or contains more of those thoughts which are new as

wealth of humor or imagery, or more dramatic power.Nor in any other of his writings is the attempt
made to interweavelife and speculation, or to connect politics with philosophy. TheRepublic is the
centre around which the other Dialogues may be grouped; here philosophy reaches the highest point to
which ancientthinkers ever attained. Plato among the Greeks, like Bacon among themoderns, was the
first who conceived a method of knowledge, althoughneither of them always distinguished the bare
outline or form from thesubstance of truth; and both of them had to be content with anabstraction of
science which was not yet realized. He was the greatestmetaphysical genius whom the world has seen;
and in him, more thanin any other ancient thinker, the germs of future knowledge arecontained. The
sciences of logic and psychology, which have suppliedso many instruments of thought to after ages,

Essay On Septic System
The main objective of this proposed research is to study the magnitude and causes of septic system
failure in rural Black Belt region of Alabama and its impact on the socioeconomic and public health
conditions of the local community. A lack of septic system in rural Alabama is a complex mix of
environmental, human right, environmental justice, health, sanitation and geospatial problems. A multi
method and interdisciplinary approach involving geospatial, environmental engineering, water quality
and spatial demographic methods will be used in the study to analyze this complex issue.
Although, a lack of sanitation and waste disposal system and its impacts on public health is very
common in lesser developed countries, this problem is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local stakeholders indicated that poorer counties of the so called Black Belt of Alabama, with higher
rural poverty rates and soils unsuited to the operation of conventional septic systems would have much
greater than 15% straight pipe. Therefore, two nearby counties, Hale and Wilcox counties, with high
rates of poverty (26.6% and 39.2%, respectively) and poor soils were chosen. The study uses two
main methods (1) site by site inspections of a random sample of unsewered rural communities and (2)
water sample collection from and analysis from impacted streams.
Preliminary data indicate staggering rates of straight pipe discharge and substantial impacts of water
quality in local streams and tributaries. In Wilcox County, approximately 60% of surveyed unsewered
households had a visible straight pipe surface discharge of raw wastewater and only 7% of households
had a permitted onsite wastewater treatment system. For the remaining 33% inspection could not
determine whether the discharge was above or below ground but there was no evidence of a septic
system drainfield or a mound system (often this indicates that a straight pipe is well buried and
discharges to an overgrown area). Conservatively, these straight pipes discharge 500,000 gallons of
raw sewage to the ground in Wilcox County every day.
Similarly, Lowndes County, Alabama is one of the Black Belt counties with

The Service Concept, Servqual Model And Understanding...
For this report I will be looking into conduction a critique piece examining the ideas, theories and
techniques specifically looking into the purpose application and limitation or the service concept,
Servqual model and understanding customer types.
The Service Concept
Application
The service concept can simply be broken down into three different stages which is firstly the
organising idea this is basically when the service is used or bought by the consumer. The next being
the service provided, this is the process in which affects the way their service provider ends up
interacting with their customer base. Last but not least is the service received, now the service
received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they then
feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly was it
good value for the money that they ended up paying for it. (Johnston Clark 2008)
A brilliant example of the service concept would be to look at Alton towers concept which is very
good, the organising idea is quite a basic concept which involves having a great day out at the theme
park with over 100 rides for families and amusement park goers and thrill seekers leaving them with a
vast array of options to choose from.
The service provided is free car parking, helpful staff, huge amount off customer toilets, Clean Park,
and generally well run amusement park. With that being said this is what the customer is

The Democracy Of The United States Government
Randy Rivas

Voter Turnout In a democracy citizens are permitted to have a significant amount of influence on
government through the election of government officials. This is known as Direct Democracy, which
means that the citizens play a significant role on the laws and policies of the land. Although the liberty
of voting is available, why is the voter turnout so low? Many other countries have a much larger vote
turnout than the United States. The reason for this varies; some major points would be the
Demographics, voting laws, and political favoritism/corruption that affect the voter turnout. When the

Those who campaign have a hard time reaching out to the young community. Most college students do
not own a television set, therefore are not well aware of current political affairs. In part many young
Americans feel that their vote does not matter, or that whatever they must vote for doesn t interest or
affect them in any way. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they
tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of
environment you grew up in. The agents of socialization in one s life play a big role on determining
how one feels towards politics. Parental views on politics influence their children s future views on
politics greatly. Ethnicity and socio economic status have a huge impact on the voter turnout. Political
knowledge and perception is no different than the area you live in or the quality of food you eat, it s all
based on wealth and social status. Those who make enough money to barely survive tend to have little
to no knowledge on politics. These groups tend to be minority groups. The vast majority of groups
that tend to vote are strictly but not definitively well educated white families. Although this is not
always the case, certain ethnic groups and minority groups vote when they have interest in what they
are voting for. For example, in the 2012 election with Obama, for the first time ever the overall black
voter turnout exceeded that of the white voter turnout, the idea of

Progressives versus Populists
The onset 20th Century holds two main movements: The Populists and The Progressives. These two
parties are similar, but their policies and philosophies hold diversities. The Populists party comprises
of farmers and poor whites in the south; they focus on eastern interests i.e. railroads and banks. The
Populists also call for government action, to intervene and to create an efficient society which includes
a flourishing middle class. The Progressives include educated middle class men and men of
universities, they too demanded for reform, but accomplish their goals through legislation and the
judicial system. The Progressives focused on reform as well as destroying the Robber Barons. Some
Progressives were actually a part of the Populist Party; they weren t contradictory parties. To simplify
the matter The Populist party held picnics in order to present discussions, while the Progressives hold
educated and sophisticated men of great esteem who were much more formal. The Populist Party was
the people s party, hence the name Populist, the party was created in the late 1800s when the Southern
Famer alliance contacted Powderly, the head of The Knights of Labor. The party s first platform was
called the Omaha Platform which called for the abolition of the national bank, graduated income tax,
direct election of senators, civil service reform, an eight hour work week, and the gov t control of
railroads, telegraphs and telephones. The Populists supported the Prohibition

Comparing Saramago s Death With Interruption, And Re
Saramago s quote Some people spend... speaks well to the depth of works and the recongnition of
themes within them. Stories create a broad path from beginning to end in order to engage a reader, and
sometimes even link these two ends to an extreme degree. Other stories, however, lead the reader on a
journey from the beginning to end, and they grow lost between what the focus of the novel and what
other subplots are trying to establish. Saramago, Sartre, and Marquez all show how a flowing river of
literature may seem to detract from the overarching theme of a work, but in actuality enhance the
reader s experience. In Death with Interruptions, Saramago establishes an undercurrent of mystery, as
why death has stopped. Until the end of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each individual has (and will) hurt each other, and that is what caused them to be there in the first
place. When Inez first meets Garcin, she is eager to begin her torture, so as to be tortured by
separation, she sets the scene for the end of the story (Sartre 8). Garcia realises the futility in fighting
against the hellish (a hah) environment he is in. Finally, Garcin says well, well, let s get on with it...,
thereby linking the cycle of the story (Sartre 47). Most of the middle section can be considered just
fluff and slight character development, but the majority of the action occurs when the characters first
meet upon their entry to hell and their acceptance of the fate that they have been left with, not
determining who they are in relation to each other. For the longest time, the three have been fighting
over (and sometimes for) each other, but the most momentous achievement is when they learn to
accept each other. This story teaches about acceptance, as even with a murderer, an adulterer, and an
abuser can get along, because they are condemned for eternity. Europe has a long history of not
accepting differences, from the early slave trade to more modern examples like the Armenian
Genocide. Sartre experienced a lot of this living in France during both World Wars, and seeing just
how brutal humans could treat others. Instead, Sartre tries to portray a world filled with terrible
individuals, but shows that eventually they must all have to get along with each

The Hard Life of the Amazon Essay
Almost every inhabitant of the Colombian Amazon has an interesting story to tell about their home,
which is one of the most amazing places in the world. The Amazon provides survival experiences,
exotic food, extreme recreation, and a unique livelihood to all those who have lived there. However,
the character and future of many has also been shaped by a context of poverty, harsh violence,
restricted opportunities, geographical disparities and gender inequity. Almost everyone who has loved
and lived under the magic of the Amazon has also lost loved ones. Many have died there, either by
direct armed conflict or by the weakness of the State regarding law enforcement and insufficient
ability of services to meet basic needs. I was raised in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This environmental and social context has always encouraged me to better myself, the members of my
family, and the rest of the society that dwells in there. Obtaining my undergraduate degree in
Microbiology and my master s degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics allowed me
to work for nearly eight years in public goals oriented to sustainability in the Amazon Region. In my
professional experience I noticed that we are losing the fight against environmental degradation,
despite the efforts of Colombian institutions inspired by the Rio de Janeiro Convention. My
experiences in life, along with my academic and professional background, have enlightened my
pathway to earn a PhD degree and become a pioneer for women in the Colombian Amazon region to
reach a doctoral degree. I studied Microbiology not only because of my great interest in this field but
also because of its applicability to conservation of the Amazonian biodiversity. This formation in an
experimental science gave me tools for understanding the rules of life and the ecological principles.
Due to limited opportunities to find a job in microbiology, I switched to applied economics. I found
this field very useful for my region and saw opportunities to research in a social science, another
equally important field for conservation. During my formation many courses caught my attention and
expanded my analytical skills. In particular, Welfare Economics, Agricultural

Difference Between Fashion And Fashion
In the Oxford English Dictionary, fashion is defined as the production and marketing of new styles of
goods, especially clothing and cosmetics but in reality what is fashion? Many of us have seen runways
and elite fashion shows in the media; we have even dreamed of sitting next to fashion icons like Anna
Wintour and Rihanna while enjoying said shows. Many of us have also shopped in our favorite stores
and noticed how different our clothing may be from what we see on the runway. Why is that you ask?
The answer is simple: fashion is a complex entity that can be split into two vastly different categories:
high fashion and streetwear. Though high fashion and streetwear are seemingly merging into one style
of design and production, the two have different backgrounds, sources of inspiration, price points and
intended audiences
High fashion is comprised of two categories: haute couture and prêt à porter (ready to wear). In World
of Art: The Thames Hudson Dictionary of Fashion and Fashion Designers, haute couture is defined as
high quality fashion design and construction. This kind of clothing is usually one of a kind and custom
fit; official haute couture brands are determined by the trade union Chambre Syndicale de la Haute
Couture, which produces a list of brands that fit into its criteria. Before the emergence of ready to
wear garments in the latter half of the twentieth century, fashion was an art that only the wealthy could
afford to indulge in. However, during the late

Science fiction is a genre of film that had the most out there storylines and slowly became a strong
building block to the most iconic movies and characters that has appeared in a film. A lot has changed
since Georges Melies story of lunar travel where a man meets a race of selenites and escape back to
earth inside a rocket in the film Le Voyage Dans La Lune to the story of a man saving the human race
from a famine by travelling through a wormhole to another planet that can support the human race in
the story Interstellar written by Christopher Nolan. Science Fiction has become one of the top grossing
film genres accumulating nearly 9 trillion dollars ($8,932,256,387) worldwide. In the future
moviegoers will witness filmmakers push the boundaries for what the general public will recognize as
Science Fiction . One of the interesting discoveries we made was that the mid future (50 150 years in

Closed Circulatory System Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to identify how open and closed circulatory systems respond to
chemical stimulants. During this experiment a ghost shrimp represented the open circulatory system,
while the black worm represented the closed circulatory system. For each organism there resting heart
rates were recorded by count the number of pulsations the organism had under a microscope. First, the
shrimp and the worm were treated with caffeine, and then their heart rate was recorded after the
organisms were exposed to the treatment for three minutes. The organisms were removed from the
caffeine, and were given time to return back to their resting heart rates. The shrimp and the worm were
then exposed to ethanol, and there hear rates were recorded again. ... Show more content on

When the shrimp was exposed to the caffeine the heart rate increased by 50.4 beats, and when the
shrimp was exposed to the ethanol the heart rate decreased by 34.8 beats. The worms average resting
heart rate was 21, the heart rate affected by caffeine was 32.83, and the heart rate affected by ethanol
was 21. The average increase in heart rate was 11.83 beats, and the average decrease in heart rate was
7.5 beats. From this data we can conclude that caffeine acted as a chemical stimulant and speed up
how frequently the heart was pumping blood into the system. Ethanol acted as a chemical sedative and
slowed down how many times the heart pumped blood into the system. Even though the two
organisms had different circulatory systems, they were still affected in the same manner. The only
difference between the two systems during this experiment is open circulatory systems have higher
heart rates overall compared to closed circulatory

Africa By Mckay
Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with an
opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and scientific
debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical terminology, dim
being Africa s unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be inferred that he is
referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa.
The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the Mother
Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a child.
The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second line.
Mother Africa, a nurturer, raises and encourages the sciences, actions that foreshadow another
brightening of the world to come in the Enlightenment. Lines three and four are also portraying a

The reputation is now condemned, however, it is possible for Africa to be saved, by taking a deeper
look at Mckay s simple word play. If the lines read Of all the mighty nations of the sun, / Thou art the
harlot, now thy time is done, Africa would be made out to be a wayward woman worthy of scorn
because of her blatant disregard to moral restraints. Instead, the lines state, Thou art the harlot, now
thy time is done, Of all the mighty nations of the sun. The couplet suggests in a twisted way that
Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and wanted the same by any
means necessary. In a Mckay s very particular placement of words, Africa does not simply lose its
honor , glory, and power; like a thief in the night and within a blink of an eye it was all

The Development Of Gifted Education
Historical roots School students involvement in research projects is a new demand of 21st century due
to some factors: globalization trend, development of human capital, implementation of the reform on
the support and development of schools for gifted students and the poor results of Kazakhstani
students in PISA. Since this paper is focused on research projects in the framework of gifted
education, it is essential to determine the concepts of children as researchers and gifted education by
answering the question What and then, discuss the reasons of Why . The historical roots of the concept
of children as researchers started being popular because of the change of children s status in society (
Hallet and Prout 2003; Alderson and Morrow, 2004). The United Nations Convention on the Rights of
the Child (UNCRC, 1989) designated children as social actors in their own rights. Specifically,
children should be enlightened and engaged about all solutions that influence their lives (as cited in
Kellett, 2005, p.4). According to some scholars (Kirby and Bryson, 2002; Johnson et al., 1998), since
that time the growth of children as participants as well as co researchers is apparently seen. Initially,
children were involved in some data collections, thus most of research projects are still being
manipulated by adults and children are not considered as potential partners (Kellett, 2005, p.5).
Nevertheless, the definition of

High Intensity Interval Training ( Hiit )
INTRODUCTION: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is known as one method to treat
Cardiovascular Diseases (CD), such as Coronary Arterial Disease (CAD) and Heart Failure (HF), due
to its potential to improve cardio respiratory fitness (1, 15). This exercise format is characterized as
aerobic exercise performed in a high intensity usually controlled by either maximum oxygen uptake or
maximum heart rate with active and low intensity. Performing exercise in high intensities mixed with
active rest allows patients to tolerate a higher effort before they become tired. Heart failure patients
present a diminished exercise capacity, due to a smaller Ejection Fraction (EF), which tells us how
well the heart pumps blood to body. To these patients, High Intensity Interval Training has been
reported for improving Systolic Function due to the increased effort in which the heart is working
(16). The necessity to provide nutrients through circulation during exercise leads to an increased
contractility and consequently LV Remodeling (15). Coronary Arterial Disease Patients have a
decreased blood flow to the myocardial tissue due to an obstruction inside the coronary arteries. HIIT
increases the arteriovenous O2 difference, which means there is an elevated consumption of oxygen
by the tissues as result of a higher stroke volume. All those benefits have been shown in the literature,
but most of the studies present data with short term interventions. A few studies discuss the benefits

Malcom X And The Civil Rights Movement
Fahad Algarni Ms. Kristi Brock ENG 101 College Writing (WC) 15 July 2015 Analysis of Ballot or
Bullet On 3rd April 1964, Malcom X addressed the Negro community assembled in Cleveland over
the controversial issue of the civil rights movement. The Ballot or the Bullet speech of Malcom X can
be considered as a direct response to I have a Dream speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Malcom X
and Dr. Martin were taking a stand for the true freedom of the same community but with a diagonally
opposite philosophies. Dr. Martin chose a non violent approach inspired from an Indian freedom
fighter Gandhi, whereas Malcom X s approach was radical and violent. The aim of Malcom s speech
was to invoke a need for action amongst the African American community while at the same time
generating a fear of civil war amongst the Whites. Ballot or Bullet can be considered as one of the
most influential speeches that America has ever witnessed. It can be noticed that there has been an
extensive use of rhetorical appeals such as emotional appeal (pathos) and cold grave logic (logos).
Also the credibility (ethos) of the author is built because of the reference that were strategically used
in the speech to relate to the people present to listen to the speech in person. Even though Malcom s
speech seems in support of the African American community, the credibility of the speaker is damaged
because of multiple usage of attacking the character of the White politicians and the White people in

The Melting Pot That It Is Made Up Of Many Types Of People...
American being the melting pot that it is, is made up of many different types of people that have
different political priorities. During an election year, these priorities are discussed even more often and
more heatedly. Newscasters light this debate fire daily, as do politicians. Some of these issues are
absolutely essential to the American political life and should be discussed and evaluated in order to
make America great. Even when parties are on opposite sides of an issue, they can agree that priorities
need to be established and evaluated (Gallup, 2016). In evaluating today s society both economic and
social issues top the list of priorities. Economic issues top the list of priorities for most American.
Unemployment is a word that Americans hear on a daily basis. Currently the 62.7% of adults who are
able to work are currently working and three major factors are driving the decrease in workers. Due to
the large number of baby boomers who are retiring, which is healthy and understandable, we have a
decline in the number of adults who work. Another positive reason is due to a larger number of college
students and graduate students. The cause that is worrisome is the people who have given up on
finding work. The Wall Street Journal estimates that about 2.6 million of the roughly 92 million
American adults who don t work want a job but aren t looking for one (CNN, 2016). Politicians and
citizens alike recognize this as a political concern. Foreign trade is

Summary Of Weekly Grocery Trip
I was going to name this post weekly grocery trip, but then I realized that most food itemI buy is from
TJ s, so I reworked it. My obsession with Trader Joe s might seem pretty apparent here by now. A
reader asked me what I buy on a weekly basis at the store, and I thought it would be a good post to
share with you. A little bit more about my grocery shopping habit before we get started.... I like to do a
big trip for the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I tend to have more time these days to drive, shop
and unload and I don t like feeling rushed during a trip. I always make a list of all the items I need
before hand, which means I take inventory of our fridge, freezer and pantry. Every couple weeks I like
to mix things up, so I ll dive into my Trader Joe s Cookbook or Cravings Cookbook and pick a new
recipe or 2 to try. Once I m in the store, I like to shop the perimeter of the store first. Fruit, veggies,
meat and all the good food that fuels your body is normally stored here. By grabbing the good stuff
first, when I see the pint of frozen ice cream, and look down to a cart already packed, I am more likely
to opt out. I only eat out 1 4 meals a week, and it is usually lunch or dinner on the weekend, so making
sure I have wholesome food is important for a healthy diet. unnamedAlthough my grocery list changes
each week, these are the items that are staples in my cart. Produce 4 bags of spinach. That is a lot of

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Personal Study Plan
This presentation will discuss key factors that impact planning personal study, such as strengths and
weaknesses. Also, this presentation will include how to access and locate resources in the Learning
Centre. Work commitments can make it difficult to put an effective personal study plan in place this is
because I work as an Auxiliary Nurse and I am required to work shifts. I have no standard shift pattern
and what I have to work varies on a weekly basis, this means that can cannot allocate certain days or
time for personal study as I may be working or travelling. Attendance may also have an impact on my
ability to study this is because at my work place there is no flexible working policy available. As well
as this my ward manager is unsupportive in allowing time off for attending the college based study or
changing shifts where needed. One factors that may have a negative effect on implementing an
effective study plan is finding time to seeing my family, friends and boyfriend. I usually help look
after my younger brother who has Asperger s once a week, so that my mam can get her planning for
work and shopping done more easily. I have chronic pain issues with my back and neck this can make
it difficult to concentrate due to high dosage painkillers also, this means that I am unable to sit and
study for long periods of time without increased pain. This might affect my ability to study as I need
to take regular breaks and can interrupt my flow when writing

In the wake of the successful cinema run for the cherished superheroine, seeing the biography of
Wonder Woman s fascinating author on the big screen was only the question of time. But wonder no
more: another talented female filmmaker follows in the footsteps of Patty Jenkins to shed some light
on the compelling backstory.
Angela Robinson, who had been developing the concept for years while she worked on multiple TV
projects, expertly uncovered the lesser known side of the comic creator s life. Skilfully handling a
story of a polyamorous relationship, she paints a thrilling picture of a love triangle based not on the
rivalry, but consent and mutual trust between the people involved. It s a delight to observe the
intricacies of their relationships portrayed with such great care. Robinson pays a lot of attention to the
power shifts in this love triangle, and allows the feelings between the characters to grow, without
getting rid of doubts or uncertainties. And refreshingly, the story steers away from objectifying women
with the eye of the camera; it stays on the tasteful side, without shying away from the story s
brimming sensuality. Even if the romantic level of the story follows an usual route, it tangles it ...

Riding Horses Research Paper
Winning States 2016
My coach announced to the team, You all have come so far, great job, everyone! As I entered the
arena, my mind went into it s own world. Ever since I was five, I ve had a love for horses. Riding
horses have become a passion for me and I knew I wanted to join my high school s equestrian team
when I got older. I remembered the day clearly in 2016 when we won states, it was a once in a lifetime
experience that showed me that hard work pays off.
The beginning of my summer in 2016 was full of preparation for horse shows, waking up early every
morning to go ride my horse before the hot sun made us melt. Practices for the equestrian team began

team had to strongly prepare ourselves so we could do very well. I felt very prepared to compete and
was super excited to go to state as it was a dream of mine. The first day of states was a lot of fun.
There were so many barns and tons of horses everywhere. There were also a ton of tack shops and I
bought a lot of horse stuff that I probably didn t need. On the second day of states I got to compete in
the big arena and it felt so amazing. Just being out there under the lights was just the greatest
experience ever. My team worked so hard the whole weekend and kicked some butt. At the end of the
weekend the judges added up our scores to see what the placings were. We all were hoping for the
best, but still thinking we could have not made it. The announcements start and we all try to be quiet
while they announce the other divisions. I couldn t believe...we had just gotten first in the state. Going

Nightcrawler Essay
Nightcrawler reveals the side effects of a blood thirsty, self centered society. Dan Gilroy s 2014
Nightcrawler introduces the audience to Lou Bloom, a modern day vampire and reveals the side
effects of the mediated, narcissistic society that he lives in. Bloom shows many characteristics that
expose his vampiric traits as well as his sociopathic ones. He is a product of modern day society, with
a thirst for violence and shocking media, and he is more than willing to provide images and film to
quench society s thirst. In the film Nightcrawler Bloom is a modern day vampire feeding off crime
and the audience s desire for blood.
Just as Fictional vampires feed off of the blood of their victims, Bloom feeds off violence within
society. He thrives off of crime; being able to observe and watch others in pain is a fascinating to him.
For example, in the Horror House segment of the film, Bloom is almost giddy filming the aftermath of
the shooting, observing the dead family members and even ignoring the survivor in pain, close to
death. We can see his ecstasy from his facial expressions while filming and manipulating the car crash
to intensify the aftermath and to get a better shot. He feeds off of these violent actions within society
and thrives in response. He is wired by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Yossarian And Ralph Lord Of The Flies Essay
Although Yossarian and Ralph are two unconnected characters of literature, both share similar moral
principles into revealing their true inner leader with an empathetic message. Even though both
Yossarian and Ralph are different people, there are many similarities in both characters which result in
comparable scenarios. Both protagonists share and explore similar goals within the societies where
they exist. Each protagonist must question the behavior of his role models and peers. Each main
protagonist leaves their home and encounters substantial challenges leading to the novel s progression.

During the events of Catch 22, Yossarian is always questioning the acts of his peers and role models.
Throughout the adventures of Yossarian, his officers are quite naive and embrace poor guidance over
the soldiers. Yossarian is constantly questioning the officer s decision, such as increasing the mission
requirement because these poor decisions usually lead down a consequential path such as the death of
Snowden. With these deaths resulting from unnecessary missions, it seems comprehensive why
Yossarian questions the ethics of his outranking officials. They re trying to kill me, Yossarian told him
calmly (Heller 16). Despite not having any critical impact on the decisions of the officers, Yossarian
continues to question the acts against him and planning to escape the military s hold on Yossarian s
life. Yossarian s main concern is the idea that people are trying to kill him indirectly and goes to great
lengths to stay alive questioning the decisions that could leave him dead. Throughout the actions of
Lord of the Flies, Ralph is also seen cross examining the acts of his peers and role models. During
Ralph s first few days on the island, the tribe struggled to decide which leader was best to follow:
Ralph or Jack. I ought to be chief, said Jack with simple arrogance, because I m chapter chorister and

The Mexican President Porfirio Diaz
It is said that those who don t know their history are bound repeat itself and it is the case of present
day Mexico. Mexico is a wonderful country with so much potential: rich in minerals, full of culture
and traditions, with beautiful sceneries and landscapes perfect for tourism. However, it has not seen
peace or stability in the last century. Currently there is a war in Mexico between several parties
including the government and several drug cartels. Everyone involved is hungry for money and power.
Similarly in 1910 the Mexican revolution which began because the country was filled with violence
and suffering causing many people to flee the country in search for a safer place. All of this is due to
poor leadership, corruption, and poverty. In 1910 the Mexican President Porfirio Diaz was taking
advantage of his power and taking all he could away from the indigenous people of the country. Diaz
acted like a dictator during his term; he would take away the land of the poor and gave it away to
wealthier Mexican citizens. That way Diaz helped the wealthy Mexicans become wealthier and the
poor became poorer. This abuse of power enraged the people and as a result Francisco Madero,
Emiliano Zapata, and Pancho Villa started a revolution with the goal of taking the presidency from
Diaz. This became the start of the Mexican revolution that developed into a civil war between the
government and the revolutionaries. The war had many casualties and most of the country lived in
fear.

The Necklace Analysis
One may wonder how she feels; as if it was all worth it to her now? When she sits to reflect on the
evening of January 18th which was filled with beautiful dresses and the succulent food, is she
remorseful? In the story The Necklace the main character, Mathilde loses her friend s necklace that
she assumed was made of diamonds. It goes into detail as to how her and her husband Loisel worked
tirelessly to replace the garment over the course of 10 years. The theme of this essay is to reveal who
is truly at fault for the downfall of Mathilde, comparing society s views, her husband s actions, the
involvement of Madame Forestier, and finally Mathilde herself. Just as our current society; many
individuals during Mathilde s era follow the trends of clothing, decorating, and even technology. In
the story, Maupassant elegantly describes the Antechambers hung with Oriental tapestry, illuminated
by tall bronze candelabra. (Maupassant 42) Equally important, Mathilde allowed for the influence and
ideas of what would make her appealing to the rest of society affect her everyday life. For example,
she frequently daydreamed of a life of grandeur in her head such as the Long reception halls hung
with ancient silk. (Maupassant 42) Moreover, she frequently would compare herself to those who were
better off financially allowing for her to feel unsatisfied and place a sense of false guilt on her
husband. The author made it clear as to what she valued by including She had no gowns, no

The Affordable Care Act Is The Us Healthcare Reform Law
What is Obamacare?
The affordable Care Act is the US healthcare reform law. The law makes health care and health
insurance more affordable and move available to more Americans the official name is the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act of 210, but is mostly referred to as Obamacare. This law was
signed on March 23, 2010. Originally the ACA was enacted to increase the quality and affordable of
health insurance, lower the uninsured rate by expanding public and private insurance coverage, and
reduce the costs of health care for individuals. There have been several provisions made to the act
since 2010. Within my paper I will be discussing the pros and cons of the ACA, changes that are
taking place within the act and from the standpoint of the insurance companies that offer insurance
through the marketplace, lastly explaining my ethical and Christian Worldview.
Pros and Cons:
The ACA is not all bad it has provided the opportunity for more Americans to have insurance within
the U.S. It requires insurance companies to cover a person s essential health care needs such as
preventive care visits, maternity and newborn care, mental and behavioral, lab test, pediatric care,
prescriptions drugs, outpatient care, emergency room services, and hospitalization, and people with
preexisting conditions cannot be denied by insurance companies nor can they drop them, or raise
premiums once they get sick. Also, another great thing is that parents can add their children up to the

Capella University Writing Process Analysis
What is a writing process?
The Capella University writing process includes four main parts. First, there is a prewriting, which
allows the student to generate ideas of what the content of the assignment will be (Capella University,
2017). This step creates the audience and the purpose of the assignment. The next step is drafting the
assignment, which allows the student to document the evidence that supports the main ideas (Capella
University, 2017). This step is important because it helps determine if the evidence presented strongly
supports the topic. The next step of the writing process is revising, which allows the student to make
changes that will strengthen the content of the assignment (Capella University, 2017). Revising is
another important step that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the Capella University writing process, the steps includes the student analyzing the audience
to help determine the purpose of the paper. Therefore, the writing process does not differ because the
same steps will still be use in creating the assignment. The important piece that will be different is the
type of research and evidence used to support the main ideas within the paper. This information will
provide support to the audience to ensure that the main purpose of the paper is clearly understood.
What elements of the process are you familiar with and what elements do you need to explore further?
Within the past eight weeks, I have realized my strengths and weaknesses within the writing process. I
have realized that I do not utilize the first step within the writing process of prewriting. However, for
the drafting, revising, and polishing steps of the writing process, I am very familiar and use additional
resources to strengthen the writing assignment. I create multiple drafts, which includes revising and
polishing in each step. Therefore, I use all three of these steps in multiple drafts as I reach the final

The Effect Of Cortisol On The Levels Of Cortisol
Cortisol is a cholesterol derivative steroid hormone. It is produced in the cortex of the adrenal gland.
Cortisol is secreted because of stress related events and its part of our adaptive stress response.
The total plasma cortisol taken in the morning, in a healthy individual is 200 700nmol. Secretion of
cortisol follows the diurnal rhythm so naturally levels of cortisol are at their highest 20 30 minutes
after awakening; with an average of 50% increase. This is referred to as the cortisol awakening
response (CAR)
Cortisol levels start to decline in a steady manner throughout the day; reaching its lowest point late in
the evening. High levels of cortisol in the morning are linked to sleep cycle, therefore jet lag, night
shifts are some of the factors that can disrupt ACTH secretion and consequently cortisol too.
The patient presented with weight gain, flushed skin, tiredness, inability to concentrate, hirsutism,
depression and facial swelling; which all indicate that the patient might be suffering from Cushings
Syndrome.
Cushings sydrome is characterised by a group of symptoms that occur as a result of elevated levels of
cortisol.
The source can be endogenous, the first would be Cushings disease which is a cortcotropinoma
(tumour in the anterior pituitary gland) which can be a microadenoma or a macroadenoma. The second
is the adrenal adenoma and adrenal carcinoma, which are tumours in the adrenal cortex

2. I would like to complete my Bachelor s Degree shortly after I complete my Associate s Degree.
3. I would like to have had a job that I loved doing.
4. I would like to have visited Hawaii.
5. I would like to have paid off all of my debts and be debt free.

My family has always been there to support me and motivate me to be a better person. Faith is

something bad happens to me it will get better. Honesty is important to me because I do not think it is
right to lie and be misleading. People do not like to be lied to and do not like to be associated with
dishonest people. Ambition is an important value to me because it is something that I was raised to
have. I am known as an over achiever and I always try to do my best at everything I do. I try hard to
be the best that I can possibly be. Thankfulness is important to me because so many people take things
and people for granted. Sometimes I may think that times are hard, but the reality is that it could be so
much worse and a lot of people have life a lot harder than I do. Courtesy is a value I have because it is
important to be nice to people. I think that being polite to people can turn their bad day into a good
day. Accuracy is also important to me because I like to do things the right way. I would rather work
hard to do my very best rather than take a short cut to not give my all. Financial Independence is
important because I do not want to have to depend on anyone else to pay for my things. Another
important value to me is affection, whether it is with words or physically. Showing people affection

The Ten Commandments
The purpose of this paper is to examine three of the Ten Commandments. The focus will be on the
strengths and weakness of first, second, and fourth commandment, as well as a which commandment
should be rewritten for the 21st century Christian. The First Amendment of the United States
Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government
interference. The Freedom of Expression consisted of the rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly
and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the implied rights of association and
belief. The Supreme Court then explains the extent of the protection afforded to these rights, the Court
has also explained the First Amendment as applying to the entire ... Show more content on

The Fourth Amendment also lengthens further security by demanding that warrants be issued and
empowered by law to allow a search and seizure. Furthermore, a warrant will only be distributed if
probable cause can be proven. The fourth Amendment gives for extra requirements and protection of
citizens due to the misuse of the writ of assistance during the American Colonial Period. The writ of
assistance was a type of general search warrant that was employed by tax collectors to search the
homes of the colonists and seize goods, which was commonly misused and the collectors would often
just take what they pleased. Lastly, with rewriting the Fourth Amendment should state that searches of
persons and properties shall be conducted only when the person or owner of the said property is well
notified and informed. Seizures of properties shall have acceptable permission from the court and
written notice provided to the owner of said property defining to what property is to be seized. In
conclusion, there are so many draw backs and benefits when it comes to the constitution. However,
when it comes to rewriting the constitution not everyone will agree. Some will say rewriting the
constitution may be secret sauce that society needs to fully understand the message it is trying to
deliver, while on the other hand some would consider it to be

Persuasive Narrative Writing
The sun reflects off the green blades of grass and onto my light grey two story house with white
window shutters. 90 degrees fahrenheit, I read on my phone. Why do I have to go outside? I think to
myself. My twin brother Joseph and I were forced to play outside. We are fraternal twins. Sitting on
the porch, bored out of our minds. There is nothing to do. I tell myself. Mom, I m bored, I whine to
my mom who is cleaning the house while my dad is at work. If you re bored, I can find something for
you to clean Sophie, said my mom. Nevermind, I say. I hate cleaning, like every other kid in America.
I think to myself. After what seemed like thirty minutes of waiting around doing nothing, I got bored.
Hey do you want to race? I ask Joseph. Sure I guess, but I will totally beat you, he answers. Whoever
can do three laps around the house first and fastest wins. No cheating, I say the rules as I draw the
finish line. We race. I run as fast as I can but he still beats me. If I just jumped over the finish line I
would have beat him. He beat me by a nanosecond. I need to beat him at something. I think. I am very
competitive. After about five minutes of a mix of sulking that I lost and trying to figure out what I can

Existentialism In Mad Max
Existentialism
1. Give a full description of where the issue discussed was observed. Mad Max is a movie from 1979
that I recently have watched with my brother over a weekend at home. As we were engaged in
entertainment of this movie it was brought to my attention of the worldview that this particular movie
presented to its viewers. This worldview is called Existentialism: a view that indicates that our lives
are meaningless and it is up to us to create our own meaning from the day we are born to the last
breath on earth. This is expressed consistently throughout the entirety of the movie and can be of
concern if taken literally.
2. Give a brief statement as to why this issue was chosen. In today s modern world we encounter many
different types of groups and organizations that seem to take major parts of this worldview to
seemingly get there way or act how they deem fit for their own personal gain or lifestyle.
3. Summarize the particular issue and the position presented in the observed forum. Mad Max is set in

The Mysterious Death Of Mary Rogers And The Market Revolution
The Mysterious Death of Mary Rogers and the Market Revolution The Mysterious Death of Mary
Rogers, written by Amy Gilman Srebnick is about the unsolved mystery of Mary Rogers. Mary
Rogers worked at a broadway tobacco shop. She was called cigar girl. In the 1840 s it was very
shameful for a young lady like Mary Roger to work at a cigar shop because but in a way she made the
shop well known. She also managed her mother s boarding house at 126 Nassau Street. Mary was the
youngest child. She was young, unmarried, and beautiful. Mary also had a lover, Daniel Payne. Mary
Rogers was only 20 when she went missing. On July 28, 1841 Mary Rogers body was discovered
floating near the shore of the hudson river with visible signs of violence. A report by two jurors
indicated that Mary had been gagged, tied, raped by several men, and finally strangled (Srebnick 18).
Dr.Cook confirmed that Mary had not drowned, frothy blood was still issuing from her mouth and her
face was suffused with dark, bruised blood and had swollen veins (Srebnick 18). Once her body was
found there were many theories as to how she died. The New Jersey coroner determined strangulation.
The New York coroner determined she drowned. Another witness confessed while on her deathbed
that it was due to an abortion. Mary Rogers death is still a mystery today. Payne was a prime suspect,

The Battle Of The Woods Lived A Village Of Warriors
Deep in the woods lived a village of warriors that had long fought to keep their lands clear of the wolf
menace, but to no avail. It seemed to the villagers that there was a stalemate between them, or perhaps
the wolves had grown accustomed to the taste of their blood and were finally bored with them. The
killings became sporadic and less frequent, to the point where eventually the warrior culture began to
deteriorate. The magic that was instilled in every villager was fading, their innocent blue eyes
remained. Without killing, their eyes were never stained with death and a pair of brown eyes was a
rare sight here. Wolves were now just fairy tales told to children to keep them from straying too far
into the woods. Such was the case with the Faraway girl, whom people simply called Red. She donned
a blood red cape wherever she went because it was a family heirloom handed down to her by her
mother. Every Faraway woman for ten generations had worn the cape and kept it in the most
immaculate condition. When they would wear it the people of the village always called them Red
instead of their given name, it was tradition. Some of the older villagers knew a story of a great
warrior who wore a cape like it. They say it was made of the blood of one thousand wolves, their
deaths woven into the magic fabric. This was the same story that was told to Red when she asked her
grandmother why she had one brown eye and one blue. She told her, One of our ancestors was said to

between life and death. It also shows beauty that is unique to itself. Laws functions as a boundary or

Antigone sacrifices her life for the unjust law set by Creon. Antigone s determination challenges the
authority of mortal law .As a result, she is punished by the hands of man, but the will of the gods
perceive her actions as following divine law. This sacrifice ultimately leads to the deaths of Haimon
and Eurydice as a punishment for Creon. The death of Antigone, Haimon, and Eurydice ultimately

My Experience At Summer Camp
You and your sister are soooooo different, my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple years
before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun, our necks slicked with sweat and our
throats parched. Approximately two second before Julia spoke those words, my sister had attempted to
do a cartwheel in front of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out in amusement. The
episode was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200 campers, in fear of her
injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb and smiled. While everyone
stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the common field and shook my head in
shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing and jumping and doing gymnastics with the
rest of West Mountain Camp s population. But instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so
many years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the rambunctious and outgoing Chloe
Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books, doling out my wise words and keeping
my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can t remember it ever being different. I was always told by
my mom, dad and grandparents that I was the quiet and mature one of the duo, and that I didn t need
to get attention in the way Chloe always did because my intelligence was enough to give me the
recognition I needed. Chloe was just always so loud and clumsy that by default I was destined to be

Beyond Scared Straight Summary
Established in the 1970 s, Scared Straight programs began to get introduced throughout the United
States as a method of deterrence for young teens in an attempted to keep them out of jail. A normal
program usually consists of an at risk teen visiting an adult prison to find out what it was really like to
be placed somewhere they are unable to leave. The teen learns of the harsh conditions that real prison
inmates have to endure while behind bars. Facility managers set up an itinerary for the teens to follow
as they tour the jail and live as though they were prisoners for a full day. This would put the at risk
youths up against an aggressive in your face confrontation with the inmates. They would get to listen
to the inmate s stories and have a one on one counseling session to really hit home on how the next
few years are going to be determined after they leave. However, no matter how well the intentions
may be to attempt and rehabilitate the teens, research has shown that many of approaches proved
ineffective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How could this still be on the air? In spite of the prevention act, the programs that are still running had
been stripped of their state funding as it was deemed traumatizing for the at risk teens. This was not
going to be the solution that leads them away from drugs and violence. Moving more into the series as
a whole, there is a nice coating that covers the false, yet what most would believe to be true as a
notion tough on crime. The punishment of criminals is more damning than prevention as others
believe it sticks better to the inmate, resulting in a long standing imprint. Moreover, our justice system
is full of idealists that who follow that same mantra causing a flaw to break up the

A Social Media Marketing Plan
Marketing has evolved and grown tremendously throughout the years. If you have a Facebook or
instagram page you have seen some sort of marketing promotion or ad that a local business is offering
to draw in customers or a following. For instance Z Burger, a burger joint in the DC area offered a
promotion that went viral through Facebook offering $2 burgers and $4 veggie burgers for the entire
day of last Tuesday at their Columbia Heights location. I attended myself thinking it was going to be
ridiculously crowded but I beat the rush and the staff created a system that provided a speedy service
and less wait time to order and receive your food.
That event was so popular through Facebook that they are offering a second location and if ... Show

To launch social media marketing campaigns, all businesses need to do is sign up for free with each
social network they want to use. Once registered, businesses can create individual profiles for their
business and start posting content, such as industry trends, company news and promotional
information right away. This phenomenon has only developed within the last decade, thus social
media research has largely focused on (1) defining what it is through the explanation of new
terminology and concepts that makeup its foundations, and (2) exploring the impact of a company s
integration of social media on consumer behavior. This paper begins with an explanation of
terminology that defines social media marketing, followed by a discussion of the four main themes
found within current research studies: Virtual Brand Communities, Consumers Attitudes and Motives,
User Generated Content, and Viral Advertising.
Although social media marketing is a well researched topic, it has only been studied through
experimental and theoretical research; studies never precisely describe the benefits retailers gain from
this marketing tactic. In reviewing the rich plethora of multi disciplinary literature, it is has become
clear that studies are focusing on describing what social media marketing is as well as examining what
factors affect consumer behavior relative to social networking. Despite the initial progress made by
researchers, development in this area of

  • 2. Effects Of The Battle Of Coral Harbor On Pearl Harbor The Japanese saw the U.S. as a threat to their expansion aspirations in Asia. Their strategy was to find a way to impede the U.S. long enough to finish their goal. This resulted in the attack of Pearl Harbor. During this time, Japanese also set up offenses in American controlled regions in the Pacific such as the Philippines, Guam and Midway islands. He recounts in the Seventh Letter, which, if genuine, is part of his autobiography, that the spectacle of the politics of his day brought him to the conclusion that only philosophers could be fit to rule. After the death of Socrates in 399, he travelled extensively. During this period he made his first trip to Sicily, with whose internal politics he became much entangled. He visited Sicily at least three times in all and may have been richly subsidised by Dionysius. On return from Sicily he began formal teaching at what became the Academy. Therefore, two nearby counties, Hale and Wilcox counties, with high rates of poverty (26.6% and 39.2%, respectively) and poor soils were chosen. The study uses two main methods (1) site by site inspections of a random sample of unsewered rural communities and (2) water sample collection from and analysis from impacted streams. Preliminary data indicate staggering rates of straight pipe discharge and substantial impacts of water quality in local streams and tributaries. In Wilcox County, approximately 60% of surveyed unsewered households had a visible straight pipe surface discharge of raw wastewater and only 7% of households had a permitted onsite wastewater treatment system. For the remaining 33% inspection could not determine whether the discharge was above or below ground but there was no evidence of a septic system drainfield or a mound system (often this indicates that a straight pipe is well buried and discharges to an overgrown area). Conservatively, these straight pipes discharge 500,000 gallons of raw sewage to the ground in Wilcox County every day. Similarly, Lowndes County, Alabama is one of the Black Belt counties with ... For this report I will be looking into conduction a critique piece examining the ideas, theories and techniques specifically looking into the purpose application and limitation or the service concept, Servqual model and understanding customer types. The Service Concept Application The service concept can simply be broken down into three different stages which is firstly the organising idea this is basically when the service is used or bought by the consumer. The next being the service provided, this is the process in which affects the way their service provider ends up interacting with their customer base. Last but not least is the service received, now the service received is the end result of the customers overall experience in particular the emotions that they then feel towards this posing the question if they were satisfied with the service provide and lastly was it good value for the money that they ended up paying for it. (Johnston Clark 2008) A brilliant example of the service concept would be to look at Alton towers concept which is very good, the organising idea is quite a basic concept which involves having a great day out at the theme park with over 100 rides for families and amusement park goers and thrill seekers leaving them with a vast array of options to choose from. The service provided is free car parking, helpful staff, huge amount off customer toilets, Clean Park, and generally well run amusement park. With that being said this is what the customer is ... • 11. Difference Between Fashion And Fashion In the Oxford English Dictionary, fashion is defined as the production and marketing of new styles of goods, especially clothing and cosmetics but in reality what is fashion? Many of us have seen runways and elite fashion shows in the media; we have even dreamed of sitting next to fashion icons like Anna Wintour and Rihanna while enjoying said shows. Many of us have also shopped in our favorite stores and noticed how different our clothing may be from what we see on the runway. Why is that you ask? The answer is simple: fashion is a complex entity that can be split into two vastly different categories: high fashion and streetwear. Though high fashion and streetwear are seemingly merging into one style of design and production, the two have different backgrounds, sources of inspiration, price points and intended audiences High fashion is comprised of two categories: haute couture and prêt à porter (ready to wear). In World of Art: The Thames Hudson Dictionary of Fashion and Fashion Designers, haute couture is defined as high quality fashion design and construction. This kind of clothing is usually one of a kind and custom fit; official haute couture brands are determined by the trade union Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which produces a list of brands that fit into its criteria. Before the emergence of ready to wear garments in the latter half of the twentieth century, fashion was an art that only the wealthy could afford to indulge in. However, during the late ... First, the shrimp and the worm were treated with caffeine, and then their heart rate was recorded after the organisms were exposed to the treatment for three minutes. The Development Of Gifted Education Historical roots School students involvement in research projects is a new demand of 21st century due to some factors: globalization trend, development of human capital, implementation of the reform on the support and development of schools for gifted students and the poor results of Kazakhstani students in PISA. Since this paper is focused on research projects in the framework of gifted education, it is essential to determine the concepts of children as researchers and gifted education by answering the question What and then, discuss the reasons of Why . The historical roots of the concept of children as researchers started being popular because of the change of children s status in society ( Hallet and Prout 2003; Alderson and Morrow, 2004). The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC, 1989) designated children as social actors in their own rights. Specifically, children should be enlightened and engaged about all solutions that influence their lives (as cited in Kellett, 2005, p.4). According to some scholars (Kirby and Bryson, 2002; Johnson et al., 1998), since that time the growth of children as participants as well as co researchers is apparently seen. High Intensity Interval Training ( Hiit ) INTRODUCTION: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is known as one method to treat Cardiovascular Diseases (CD), such as Coronary Arterial Disease (CAD) and Heart Failure (HF), due to its potential to improve cardio respiratory fitness (1, 15). This exercise format is characterized as aerobic exercise performed in a high intensity usually controlled by either maximum oxygen uptake or maximum heart rate with active and low intensity. Performing exercise in high intensities mixed with active rest allows patients to tolerate a higher effort before they become tired. Heart failure patients present a diminished exercise capacity, due to a smaller Ejection Fraction (EF), which tells us how well the heart pumps blood to body. To these patients, High Intensity Interval Training has been reported for improving Systolic Function due to the increased effort in which the heart is working (16). The necessity to provide nutrients through circulation during exercise leads to an increased contractility and consequently LV Remodeling (15). Coronary Arterial Disease Patients have a decreased blood flow to the myocardial tissue due to an obstruction inside the coronary arteries. HIIT increases the arteriovenous O2 difference, which means there is an elevated consumption of oxygen by the tissues as result of a higher stroke volume. All those benefits have been shown in the literature, but most of the studies present data with short term interventions. A few studies discuss the benefits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ballot or the Bullet speech of Malcom X can be considered as a direct response to I have a Dream speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Malcom X and Dr. Martin were taking a stand for the true freedom of the same community but with a diagonally opposite philosophies. Dr. Martin chose a non violent approach inspired from an Indian freedom fighter Gandhi, whereas Malcom X s approach was radical and violent. The aim of Malcom s speech was to invoke a need for action amongst the African American community while at the same time generating a fear of civil war amongst the Whites. Ballot or Bullet can be considered as one of the most influential speeches that America has ever witnessed. It can be noticed that there has been an extensive use of rhetorical appeals such as emotional appeal (pathos) and cold grave logic (logos). Also the credibility (ethos) of the author is built because of the reference that were strategically used in the speech to relate to the people present to listen to the speech in person. The first day of states was a lot of fun. There were so many barns and tons of horses everywhere. There were also a ton of tack shops and I bought a lot of horse stuff that I probably didn t need. On the second day of states I got to compete in the big arena and it felt so amazing. Just being out there under the lights was just the greatest experience ever. My team worked so hard the whole weekend and kicked some butt. At the end of the weekend the judges added up our scores to see what the placings were. We all were hoping for the best, but still thinking we could have not made it. The announcements start and we all try to be quiet while they announce the other divisions. I couldn t believe...we had just gotten first in the state. Going up and grabbing that big trophy knowing we made it this far it such a great feeling. It felt like a dream come true. This was a once in a lifetime experience and was one of the best days in my life. Ever since I was little I ve dreamed of making it this far and even better I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Nightcrawler Essay Nightcrawler reveals the side effects of a blood thirsty, self centered society. Dan Gilroy s 2014 Nightcrawler introduces the audience to Lou Bloom, a modern day vampire and reveals the side effects of the mediated, narcissistic society that he lives in. Bloom shows many characteristics that expose his vampiric traits as well as his sociopathic ones. He is a product of modern day society, with a thirst for violence and shocking media, and he is more than willing to provide images and film to quench society s thirst. In the film Nightcrawler Bloom is a modern day vampire feeding off crime and the audience s desire for blood. Just as Fictional vampires feed off of the blood of their victims, Bloom feeds off violence within society. He thrives off of crime; being able to observe and watch others in pain is a fascinating to him. For example, in the Horror House segment of the film, Bloom is almost giddy filming the aftermath of the shooting, observing the dead family members and even ignoring the survivor in pain, close to death. We can see his ecstasy from his facial expressions while filming and manipulating the car crash to intensify the aftermath and to get a better shot. He feeds off of these violent actions within society and thrives in response. He is wired by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nightcrawler reveals the underbelly of a mediated society. Throughout the adventures of Yossarian, his officers are quite naive and embrace poor guidance over the soldiers. Yossarian is constantly questioning the officer s decision, such as increasing the mission requirement because these poor decisions usually lead down a consequential path such as the death of Snowden. With these deaths resulting from unnecessary missions, it seems comprehensive why Yossarian questions the ethics of his outranking officials. They re trying to kill me, Yossarian told him calmly (Heller 16). Despite not having any critical impact on the decisions of the officers, Yossarian continues to question the acts against him and planning to escape the military s hold on Yossarian s life. Yossarian s main concern is the idea that people are trying to kill him indirectly and goes to great lengths to stay alive questioning the decisions that could leave him dead. Throughout the actions of Lord of the Flies, Ralph is also seen cross examining the acts of his peers and role models. During Ralph s first few days on the island, the tribe struggled to decide which leader was best to follow: Ralph or Jack. • 26. The Mexican President Porfirio Diaz It is said that those who don t know their history are bound repeat itself and it is the case of present day Mexico. Mexico is a wonderful country with so much potential: rich in minerals, full of culture and traditions, with beautiful sceneries and landscapes perfect for tourism. However, it has not seen peace or stability in the last century. Currently there is a war in Mexico between several parties including the government and several drug cartels. Everyone involved is hungry for money and power. Similarly in 1910 the Mexican revolution which began because the country was filled with violence and suffering causing many people to flee the country in search for a safer place. All of this is due to poor leadership, corruption, and poverty. In 1910 the Mexican President Porfirio Diaz was taking advantage of his power and taking all he could away from the indigenous people of the country. Diaz acted like a dictator during his term; he would take away the land of the poor and gave it away to wealthier Mexican citizens. That way Diaz helped the wealthy Mexicans become wealthier and the poor became poorer. This abuse of power enraged the people and as a result Francisco Madero, Emiliano Zapata, and Pancho Villa started a revolution with the goal of taking the presidency from Diaz. This became the start of the Mexican revolution that developed into a civil war between the government and the revolutionaries. The war had many casualties and most of the country lived in fear. ... When she sits to reflect on the evening of January 18th which was filled with beautiful dresses and the succulent food, is she remorseful? In the story The Necklace the main character, Mathilde loses her friend s necklace that she assumed was made of diamonds. It goes into detail as to how her and her husband Loisel worked tirelessly to replace the garment over the course of 10 years. The theme of this essay is to reveal who is truly at fault for the downfall of Mathilde, comparing society s views, her husband s actions, the involvement of Madame Forestier, and finally Mathilde herself. Just as our current society; many individuals during Mathilde s era follow the trends of clothing, decorating, and even technology. In the story, Maupassant elegantly describes the Antechambers hung with Oriental tapestry, illuminated by tall bronze candelabra. (Maupassant 42) Equally important, Mathilde allowed for the influence and ideas of what would make her appealing to the rest of society affect her everyday life. For example, she frequently daydreamed of a life of grandeur in her head such as the Long reception halls hung with ancient silk. • 31. The Effect Of Cortisol On The Levels Of Cortisol Cortisol is a cholesterol derivative steroid hormone. It is produced in the cortex of the adrenal gland. Cortisol is secreted because of stress related events and its part of our adaptive stress response. The total plasma cortisol taken in the morning, in a healthy individual is 200 700nmol. Secretion of cortisol follows the diurnal rhythm so naturally levels of cortisol are at their highest 20 30 minutes after awakening; with an average of 50% increase. This is referred to as the cortisol awakening response (CAR) Cortisol levels start to decline in a steady manner throughout the day; reaching its lowest point late in the evening. The writ of assistance was a type of general search warrant that was employed by tax collectors to search the homes of the colonists and seize goods, which was commonly misused and the collectors would often just take what they pleased. It seemed to the villagers that there was a stalemate between them, or perhaps the wolves had grown accustomed to the taste of their blood and were finally bored with them. The killings became sporadic and less frequent, to the point where eventually the warrior culture began to deteriorate. The magic that was instilled in every villager was fading, their innocent blue eyes remained. Without killing, their eyes were never stained with death and a pair of brown eyes was a rare sight here. Wolves were now just fairy tales told to children to keep them from straying too far into the woods. Such was the case with the Faraway girl, whom people simply called Red. She donned a blood red cape wherever she went because it was a family heirloom handed down to her by her mother. Every Faraway woman for ten generations had worn the cape and kept it in the most immaculate condition. When they would wear it the people of the village always called them Red instead of their given name, it was tradition. Some of the older villagers knew a story of a great warrior who wore a cape like it. They say it was made of the blood of one thousand wolves, their deaths woven into the magic fabric. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the common field and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing and jumping and doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp s population. But instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so many years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the rambunctious and outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books, doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can t remember it ever being different. • 45. Beyond Scared Straight Summary Established in the 1970 s, Scared Straight programs began to get introduced throughout the United States as a method of deterrence for young teens in an attempted to keep them out of jail. A normal program usually consists of an at risk teen visiting an adult prison to find out what it was really like to be placed somewhere they are unable to leave. The teen learns of the harsh conditions that real prison inmates have to endure while behind bars. Facility managers set up an itinerary for the teens to follow as they tour the jail and live as though they were prisoners for a full day. This would put the at risk youths up against an aggressive in your face confrontation with the inmates. They would get to listen to the inmate s stories and have a one on one counseling session to really hit home on how the next few years are going to be determined after they leave. However, no matter how well the intentions may be to attempt and rehabilitate the teens, research has shown that many of approaches proved ineffective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How could this still be on the air? In spite of the prevention act, the programs that are still running had been stripped of their state funding as it was deemed traumatizing for the at risk teens. This was not going to be the solution that leads them away from drugs and violence. Moving more into the series as a whole, there is a nice coating that covers the false, yet what most would believe to be true as a notion tough on crime. The punishment of criminals is more damning than prevention as others believe it sticks better to the inmate, resulting in a long standing imprint. Moreover, our justice system is full of idealists that who follow that same mantra causing a flaw to break up the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance Z Burger, a burger joint in the DC area offered a promotion that went viral through Facebook offering $2 burgers and $4 veggie burgers for the entire day of last Tuesday at their Columbia Heights location. I attended myself thinking it was going to be ridiculously crowded but I beat the rush and the staff created a system that provided a speedy service and less wait time to order and receive your food. That event was so popular through Facebook that they are offering a second location and if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To launch social media marketing campaigns, all businesses need to do is sign up for free with each social network they want to use. Once registered, businesses can create individual profiles for their business and start posting content, such as industry trends, company news and promotional information right away. This phenomenon has only developed within the last decade, thus social media research has largely focused on (1) defining what it is through the explanation of new terminology and concepts that makeup its foundations, and (2) exploring the impact of a company s integration of social media on consumer behavior. This paper begins with an explanation of terminology that defines social media marketing, followed by a discussion of the four main themes found within current research studies: Virtual Brand Communities, Consumers Attitudes and Motives, User Generated Content, and Viral Advertising. Although social media marketing is a well researched topic, it has only been studied through experimental and theoretical research; studies never precisely describe the benefits retailers gain from this marketing tactic. In reviewing the rich plethora of multi disciplinary literature, it is has become clear that studies are focusing on describing what social media marketing is as well as examining what factors affect consumer behavior relative to social networking. Despite the initial progress made by researchers, development in this area of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
