Causes Of The Lost Colony Of Roanoke
The lost colony of Roanoke is one of the most notorious mysteries in American history; the cryptic
clues left at the abandoned settlement and the lack of any concrete evidence make it the focus of wild
speculation and theories . Within three years what would have been the first permanent English colony
that was formed in the New World disappeared in 1590, only leaving two small clues behind. The
colony mayor John White returned to the island to discover the word Croatoan had been carved into
the palisade surrounding the settlement as well as Cro carved into a nearby tree. It appeared as if the
colonists had disassembled all buildings, packed up, and left without a trace. Throughout extensive
research and sweeping the island there have been no remains or signs of Indian attacks found leaving
one mysterious question unanswered: what was the cause of the disappearance of the Roanoke colony
and where did they go? Roanoke was the first English settlement in the New World, founded in
August of 1585 by the English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. The first colony suffered the usual lack of
food supplies and Indian attacks, forcing them to return to England in 1586 on a ship that was
captained by Sir Francis Drake. However, the following year Raleigh had made the decision to send
another hundred colonists under the oversight of John White. The same situation that forced the
original Roanoke colonists to return home began to trouble the new colony. Later that year the

Computer Crime Essay
Running head: COMPUTER CRIME
Categories of Computer Crime
S.R Skolnick
Strayer University
In today s society computers are used to commit crimes. These crimes are separated into four
categories. These categories are as follows, the computer as a target, the computer as an instrument of
crime, the computer as incidental to a crime, and crimes associated with the prevalence of computers.
In example of the computer as a target, is a case of Kevin Mitnick. Kevin Mitnick was once known as
the world s most wanted social engineering computer hacker. From the 1970s up to his arrest in 1995,
Mitnick was able to elude them bypass corporate security safeguards. Mitnick was able to get into
some of the well guarded systems in the corporate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These crimes will include but not limited to money laundering, criminal enterprise, child pornography,
and will ring victims into compromising situations.
In this category crimes associated with the prevalence of computers, the crimes include intellectual
property violations, component that, counterfeiting, identity theft, and a number of corporate offenses.
In this category intellectual property violations are described as piracy. Piracy includes the illegal
downloading of music and movies. I believe the category of the computer as a target presents the
greatest overall threat at this present time. The reasons for this is, computers as a target for instance
computer hacking. Computer hacking enables people with this ability to access our nation s defense
system. With this being said, this becomes a national security issue. Secondly, computer as a target
enables people what this ability, to commit identity theft. As we know identity theft is on the rise.
Identity theft causes millions and millions of dollars to be stolen or used by cyber criminals. These
crimes make it very difficult for the victims to get everything back to normal before their identities
were stolen. In this day and age, computers and the Internet have made criminals into better criminals,
while law enforcement, US government, and the court systems are back in the game playing catch up.
Law enforcement does not have

Structural Violence And Its Effects On Society
Structural violence has become a frequently used instrument in the word of systemic oppression. This
type of oppression and unfair limitations of civil, criminal and basic human rights can cause suffering
and death to many innocent lives. Sociologist Johan Galtung was the one who developed this theory of
structural violence. Indicated in one of his articles Violence, Peace, and Peace Research , structural
violence is the systematic constraint on human potential due to economic and political structures
(Galtung, 1969, p.177). Galtung is telling the readers that certain groups of people are systematically
being limited to resources in society either directly or indirectly. Structural violence has been
described as the most basic of fundamental form of violence, as it is expressive of the conditions of
society that reproduce mass violations of personhood twenty four hours a day, seven days a week
(Barak, 2003, p.113). This demonstrates that structural violence is an on going way to steal ones
opportunities in society. Racism, sexism, classism and ageism are all examples of structural violence.
It can be visible and invisible and can cause disadvantages for people who are considered poor or a
minority within society. Structural violence is extremely important as it could lead to poverty,
starvation, sicknesses and deaths. Although structural violence is a powerful and common method of
ferocity, there are agents of change who locally and globally contribute to the

Using Natural Gas and Liquid Natural Gas
Introduction
For decades the United States of America has been relying on fossil fuels to power its economy and to
function as a country. One namely Diesel fuel has power big rigs that our country depends on to
transport merchandise and goods. It seems like it is part of the American way of life burning more
than 1 billion dollars worth of oil per day. An estimated 10 percent of that is consumed by big rig
trucks. The United States military also used diesel for a majority of its craft and vehicles. That is a
large amount of oil and that is why there is research being done looking for alternative options to keep
the country going. The topics at hand are natural gas and liquid natural gas.
Details and science of natural gas
It goes without saying that there are many skeptics that argue liquid natural gas deposits create just as
much emissions as coal and oil. The main thing in natural gas is methane which is much more potent
than carbon dioxide. Natural gas comes from dense rock clusters known as shale. Energy drilling is
really quite simple. It starts out with deposits of natural gas found deep in the ground. Scientists find
these deposits using various methods like looking for seismic energy and magnetic traces. Once a
probable deposited is found the drilling or energy company drills deep into the earth s crust to reach it.
The next part is hard because after the hole is drilled the gas will not simply flow out of the hole. The
natural gas is in the shale

Juxtaposition Of Innocence And Corruption In Daisy Miller...
Structuralism is the idea that language exists in patterns, therefore all literary works begin to develop
underlying elements common to all human experiences (Purdue). Structuralist criticism analyzes these
patterns, elements, and themes that interconnect the works in order to better understand them (Rump).
In the story arcs of both Henry James Daisy Miller and Stephanie Meyer s Twilight, structuralist
themes include the juxtaposition of innocence and corruption, and ignobility and refinement. The
juxtaposition of innocence and corruption in humans is a major structuralist theme found in a wide
variety of literary works. This trope is manifested through a young, naïve character, often depicted as a
virginal girl dressed in white, and an older, more mature, brooding male who ... Show more content on

Henry James novel Daisy Miller is a prime example; Daisy is the perfect embodiment of innocence.
the young Miller is said to take on three different kinds of innocence. The first is ignorance, in which
Daisy is uneducated on the customs and mannerisms of Europe and speaks unabashedly about her
personal life, what Winterbourne perceives to be the most unbecoming of her. The second is naïveté,
in which Daisy is unable to discern others motives, ultimately leading to her demise. The third is a
blamelessness, where she has done nothing immoral out of malice but simply from her upbringing in
the spirited nature of the American culture rather than the reserved and refined European culture.
Daisy Miller s corruption originates from two men in her life; Her major love interest, Mr. Giovanelli,
an Italian man with an unknown background, is the indirect cause of her corruption and the direct
cause of her ultimate downfall. Miller and Giovanelli s intimate friendship, with no customary
declaration of courtship, alarms many of her American expatriates. As the pair s friendship escalates
into something more, gossip and judgement further ostracizes Daisy from the American community.

Mba Rookies Research Paper
This year s NBA rookies won t revolutionize the league like the class of 1984, which featured Michael
Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley and John Stockton. Chances are, it won t upset basketball
s cultural applecart like Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant did in 1996. Nor can it be expected to usher in
a new era of talent to an Association in transition, as LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade
and Chris Bosh did in 2003.
But when hoops historians pen the game s next tome, they may look back at the class of 2015 as the
one that strengthened basketball s shift toward skill and versatility.

Teams are paying a little bit more attention to my offensive rebounding. Another reason is that the

The Relationship Between Marijuana And Depression
By: Tyler Thomas
The relationship between Cannabis sativa (marijuana) and depression has been a primary concern to
research scientists. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars have
made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the cannabinoids, a
group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is
the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the point of interest for the researchers
to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in the users. In particular, studies try to
find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1. The receptor is located in the peripheral
as well as the central nervous system. THC is an agonist of the CB1, which forms the point of
influence of the marijuana on the nervous system.
The primary concern of researchers is to understand the impact of marijuana on occurrence on
depression. Also, there should be an elaboration on how such an interaction increases or attenuates
depression in the users. Understanding the relationship between marijuana and depression in users will
be instrumental in diverse perspective. The use of marijuana may be promoted if anti depressive
impact is found. It may lead further research to explore the opportunity. Such may include
pharmacological modifications to treat depressed patients. Otherwise, a negative relationship would
lead to increased studies to be utilized in

The Sissy Duckling Stereotypes
The Sissy Who Saved the Day If presented to a child properly the children s book The Sissy Duckling
can be a wonderful tool for decreasing, chances of the children having stereotypes or showing
prejudice towards the queer lifestyle, as the children who read the book mature and become adults.
Not that sexuality is addressed in this book, but the flamboyant main character can be a representation
of the stereotype that homosexual men are perceived as. The book is the story of a duck who lives
outside the norms of what all the other ducks live by. For being different the duck is ridiculed, by both
kids at school and his father. In the end however the duck emerges the hero, and presents the message
that it is ok to be different. This book reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such results as reinforcing stereotypes that this book portrays. For example, from viewing this book it
could be said the main character is more attracted to fashion than his counterparts in the book, but he
is also less attracted to what is normal for little boys to be interested in such as when he attempts to
play baseball, and for likes and dislikes he is labeled a Sissy . The book also displays blatant bullying
by other kids at the main character s school towards him, and use of derogatory names such as Sissy .
Also, there is the daily indignity that Elmer must endure, that many flamboyant men must endure,
whether straight or homosexual, every day when they are not accepted, or made to feel different by the
dominant class (Straight people), that is portrayed very vividly in this book. In the end however there
is the positive message of Elmer being accepted by his father, and other lessons throughout the book
that are taught, such as using words to battle bullying opposed to violence, as demonstrated by Elmer s
quip while playing baseball Do I point out YOUR shortcomings? (Fierstein,2005, p.7). Again this was
a good book for exposing children to the fact that people act different, but just because they act
different does not mean that there is anything wrong with

Napoleon Bonaparte and The French Revolution
Napoleon and The French revolution Napoleon Bonaparte was a visionary to some, and a ruthless
ruler to others. The purpose of the French revolution was to free the oppressed and stop the bloodshed
that was occurring in
France. The real question is whether Napoleon was the legitimate heir to the visions of the
French revolution. Napoleon was in essence a very powerful man that took control of France but
threw out many of the ideals of the French Revolution. His actions during his takeover where more
than enough to prove that he did not intend to let France live through the old beliefs of the
French revolution. During his time in power Napoleon reestablished a French aristocracy
(eliminated in the French revolution) and began handing out tittles of nobility (His reign,
History, no page.) This affected the way France governed itself again even after the French
Revolution.

Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr )
Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic Health
Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a patient, no
longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or allergies. This greatly
increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an EMR is that a doctor is much
less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient could currently be taking a daily dose
of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not know this medication was in use and
prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner, they have a much higher risk of bleeding.
With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the system, as long as the physician was aware of this.
If they were, the system would alert them of this, which would prompt the physician of this, and
would not let them order the medication without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the
conflict. There is always a chance for human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A
negative effect of an EHR, which many patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper
records were in effect, the doctor could visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more
typing and checkboxes involved with current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much
time on the computer as they do with the patient. After interviewing George Olsen, Chief

Science Of Economics By Neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni
4. Mirror neurons are a major component in brain functioning, and thus it gives them a primary role in
pscyho economic reasoning. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying
effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which
were popularized within the field of economics by neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since played a
big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in bridging
perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian scientists in Parma,
Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any discernable action. Put
more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a mirror like firing sequence in
response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical motor reaction. The scientists
who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in the premotor cortex of macaque
monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a perception and actual execution of a
particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons are unique as they are universal in the
brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went
as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex states such as morality. In this sense mirror
neurons have the potential to be major factors within group dynamics as they can

Character Analysis Of Mrs. Dalloway, By Virginia Woolf
Written by Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway is a fictional novel that concentrates on the daily
encounters of Clarissa Dalloway and her flashbacks. Woolf s stream of consciousness technique and
third person narration gives the reader an insight into the doings and feelings of the various characters
in the novel. Woolf s commentary focuses on the oppression that resulted from World War I. This is
seen primarily in Septimus Warren Smith, who suffers from shell shock and serves as a double of
Clarissa. On a Wednesday in June, Clarissa, who is currently 52 years old, introduces the readers to a
plethora of streets in Westminster and also the up scale guests who will be attending her party that
evening. Clarissa is known for her lavish parties, thrown for the purpose of allowing important people
to chat, while maintaining her upper class image that was gained through her marriage with Mr.
Dalloway. The plot of the novel is simple, yet readers know intricate details about the characters
through their thoughts. In Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf uses Clarissa s isolation, her realization of
life and death, and the relationships between the characters in a single day during the post World War I
era to express the feelings and thoughts of Clarissa, who hears the striking of Big Ben and reflects
upon her past. Mrs. Dalloway, although married to Richard Dalloway and living in an apartment with
Sally Seton, displays signs of isolation and loneliness. Her parties are a way for her to

My Understanding Of Personality Theory
To demonstrate my understanding of personality theory, I choose to create a personality profile for a
close friend. She is a very driven individual with some unique interests. I wanted to evaluate her
personality because she is a very close friend of mine and I know her vary well. I chose Allport s trait
theory because he uses 3 types of traits to describe people. I liked the way he organized traits in to
types of traits. I think its easier to understand his theory because of the organization. I organized my
friend s traits in to 3 categories: central, secondary, and cardinal. Allport s theory focuses on individual
differences. His theory suggest that individuals differ in the traits that predominate in there
personalities. some traits are common; others are unique (Cloninger 2013 page 128). He goes on to
explain that some traits are individual or unique while others are common. Central traits can affect
everyday behaviors. these are traits that your close friends or family would be able to point out if
asked. Examples of my friends central traits would be: optimistic, out spoken, individualistic, and
extroverted. I use these terms to describe her because I have noticed them consistently. Over time and
various situations, I have seen her behavior follow these traits. My friend is on the executive board of

Ecological Validity In Psychological Research
Ecological validity is the level to which a study imitates circumstances which naturally occur or are
equivalent to everyday conditions (Custance, 2010). This is important in psychological research so
that findings can be explained or reproduced in other settings, such as the real world. However, certain
experiments may have low levels of ecological validity but still provide influential findings. To
discuss this Bandura et al. (1963 cited Oates, 2010) experiment will be evaluated displaying that even
if an experiment lacks ecological validity it can still provide an insight of how behaviour can be
influenced by witnessing aggressive acts. Subsequently, Skinners (1979 cited in Toates, 2010) studies

validity still have influential results. Nevertheless, even though the experiment was controlled, and
results were valid it is absent of telling whether the children would go on to demonstrate the behaviour

validity was deficient, however, the outcome of observing animals learning behaviour in their natural

The City Of Haltom s Annual Budget
have evaluated the City of Haltom s Annual Budget for Fiscal 2016 budget using the Government
Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recommended budget practices. The Annual Budget was
reviewed under four major categories which are as follows: policy document, financial plan,
operations guide, and communication device. Using the GFOA awards scale my rating of the budget
for each individual category and the budget as a whole is a 4 (outstanding). The City of Haltom has
received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for fiscal years 1987 2014. The budgets prepared for
submission have been recognized with the GFOA Distinguished Budget award annually since 1989
with exception of one year. The City continues to participate successfully in these two programs and
follow mandatory and non mandatory guidelines of the GFOA. The City of Haltom Budget is very
transparent and provides a great deal of information to its citizens whom the city views at the top of
the organizational chart for the city. The City s budget for FY2016 appears to continue to conform to
the GFOA program requirements and upon submission of their budget I have no doubt their budget for
FY 2016 will receive a GFOA Distinguished Budget award.

Analysis of Mental Health in Canada
Close to six million Canadians live with mental illness; let alone the thousands that are undiagnosed.
Mental illness has made big headlines in the news in the recent years. The people suffering from
mental illness have been faced with discrimination a caused by a stigma towards them. Mental illness
can be caused by many different factors whether they are psychological or environmental. Although
only twenty percent of Canadians personally experience mental illness in their lifetime, it affects
everyone in their lives. Many of the people suffering from mental illness live their lives in silence
because of the stigma attached to the illness. They would rather nobody know about their condition

This caused them to treat them poorly. They would try to hide them from the rest of the world in fear
of being publicly ridiculed and put to shame. They would hide them in the cellars, lock them in rooms,
hand them off to servants, or abandon them on the streets. Many religions and groups of people
believe that people suffering from mental illness were thought to have bad luck. Historically in
Greece, a mentally ill [family] member implies a hereditary, disabling condition in the bloodline and
threatens [the family s] identity as an honourable unit, therefore treatment of the mentally ill in these
cultures meant a life of hidden confinement or abandonment by one s family (Blue 305). (qtd. in

indirectly affects everybody. Everybody will have at least one person in their life that is suffering from
mental illness; whether it is a family member, a friend, or a colleague. One on every five Canadians
under sixty five will suffer from a mental illness at some point in their lifetime (Ontario.cmha.ca,

they are creating valuable relationships and making huge decisions that impact our whole lives.
Mental illnesses are categorized into the following categories; anxiety disorders, concurrent disorders

The Feminine Mystique Analysis
Both the Victorian Era and 1950s and 1960s America featured inflexible expectations of a wife and
her views on marriage. Grant Allen, a Victorian essayist, in Plain Words on the Women Question in
1889, wrote, We ought frankly to recognize that most women must be wives and mothers: that most
women should therefore be trained, physically, morally, socially, and mentally, in the way best fitting
for them to be wives and mothers (Broadview Anthology 628). Essentially, Allen holds the belief that
all women are meant to serve as an asset to men, to complement men. Additionally, his use of the
word train connotes that women should be disciplined to fit this role, which betrays the lack of
equality between the sexes. He further argues that it goes against nature for women to desire more
than motherhood and wifehood. He chastises women who attempt to oppose their duty, instead of
boasting of their sexlessness as a matter of pride, they ought to keep it in the dark, and to be ashamed
of it (628). In other words, to be feminine is to mother children and to marry a man. Deviating from
this neatly structured plan for a woman s obligation is to become unfeminine. In America, Betty
Friedan, a feminist writer, wrote The Feminine Mystique in 1963. In her book, she rebels against the
traditional view of femininity. She coined the term which shares the title of her book as, The feminine
mystique says that the highest value and the only commitment for women is the fulfillment of

Colonies, which was located in the south, so it was hotter and it was practically warm all year round.
That led to different agricultural needs, the southern colony was huge on agriculture because they had
fertile soil so they produced a lot of cash crops and were know for the tobacco, produced and exported
by John Rolfe. Since the New England Colonies didn t have much use for agriculture because they
lacked good soil so there wasn t many crops, they mostly fished, build ships, and traded mostly with
fur. That leads to slavery, since the southern plantations required a lot of work there was a lot more
slaves in the south then the north. Southern Colonies had the largest slave population who worked on
the Slave Plantations, which grew cotton, tobacco, indigo (a purple dye), and other crops. Also
religion was very different, the New England Colonies were strictly Puritans and didn t tolerate other
religions; while the Southern colonies were not dominated by a single religion they were mostly
predominantly Anglicans and

Marriage And The Role Of Women

Marriage Essay
During the 14th century, marriage and the role of women in the marriage were very different from
today. Most marriages in the 14th century occurred between an older man and a young girl; a girl is
usually chosen because they were pure and could produce the most heirs. The bride s family would
pay the husband through a dowry, consisting of land, money, or anything of high value. The more
unattractive the women were, the more the family would have to pay the husband. Right here, women
are already being objectified by their looks. Men want a girl who looks pure and untouched, why
would anyone want a dirtied girl. Being someone who was not good looking was an even bigger
disgrace since your appearance does not please your husband, you are not doing your job of keeping
him happy. Women are often portrayed as an object of men to be bought and fondled with; they are
not allowed to control their lives. Geoffrey Chaucer took part in telling the story of how many women
acted in the 14th century and how the women were portrayed at this time. Chaucer s views on
marriage are made very clear throughout The Canterbury Tales. He used the five marriage tales: The
Shipman s Tale, The Wife s Prologue , The Clark s Tale , The Merchant s Tale , and The Franklin s
Tale to express his views on marriage, I was struck most strongly by how much he knew about love,
about men and women, by the depth and complexity of an

bvrit,narsapur.medak0. phone:9553580532 Maglev trains are a very fast type of train. Magnetic
levitation is a technology that uses magnetic fields to make the train move. These fields lift the train a
small distance above the tracks and moves the train. They are much faster than regular trains. By

This allows the train to lift between 0.39 and 3.93 inches (1 to 10 centimeters) above the guideway.
Once the train is lifted, power is supplied to the coils within the guideway walls. This creates a unique
system of magnetic fields that pull and push the train along the guideway. The electric current
supplied to the coils in the guideway walls is constantly alternating to change the polarity of the
magnetized coils. This change in polarity causes the magnetic field in front of the train to pull the
vehicle forward, while the magnetic field behind the train adds more forward thrust. Maglev trains
float on a cushion of air, which removes friction. The trains have an aerodynamic designs. This allows
them to reach speeds of more than 310 mph (500 kph), or twice as fast as Amtrak s fastest commuter
train. In comparison, a Boeing 777commercial airplane used for long range flights can reach a top
speed of about 562 mph (905

Cool Like Me Analysis
Although running may not seem like a big sport like football, basketball or soccer, it takes a lot of
courage, heart and strength to be able to run. In the article called Cool like me by Donnell Alexander
he says, cool is finding the essential soul, while being essentially lost . When we feel stressed and feel
like we want time for ourselves away from society, running is a solution. Running is not just
considered a sport, running is a lifestyle that people choose to live. It makes them feel good, look good
and it makes them happy. In the article called Cool like me by Donnell Alexander he expresses, cool

other people are paying expensive therapy sessions for depression or wasting money on medication
that in the long run affect their body; others are simply using running as their therapy. According to

endorphins [substances created by the pituitary glands [small glands located below the brain in the

The Between The East And West Essay
In Western society, specifically the US and Europe, feminists and Neo pagans use Kali as an icon of
anger at a patriarchal society. They see Kali as a force to be reckoned with, an awe inspiring image for
women in a developing country such as India. However, women in India rarely use goddesses as
images of women s rights, despite having a pantheon rich with female deities. Why is this? Do they
revere the image of the goddesses too much to use them in a political stance? Or are they afraid of the
implications in using a Hindu goddess as a feminist icon? The people of India worship Kali in a
similar manner to their other goddesses, despite her frightening appearance: that of a mother and wife
taking care of her family, her worshippers. However, she loses her sweeter caring nature in the West.
The polarization of Kali s image between the East and West is interesting to note. Does this view of
goddesses affect the view of women and their rights in India? How do Hindus feel about the use of
Kali as an icon in the West?
The way Euro Americans see Kali as almost a raging monster might not only be because of her
appearance, but because she is an alien figure from an alien land. Non Hindus are unsure of her
purpose aside from the goddess of destruction. To Western culture, gods either are a single
monotheistic being and thus embody all aspects, or have one primary aspect or multiple aspects that
coincide with each other. A goddess of destruction, that also embodies creation, that is

Differences Between Secondary School Life And University Life
Graduation from secondary school is the end of education or a start for a new stage of education?
There are four education stages for a student, which are early childhood education, primary education,
secondary education and tertiary education. Most of the students choose to further their studies in
tertiary institutions after they graduated from secondary school, either in local universities or private
colleges. They assume that secondary school life is the same as university life because both have the
similarity in study. However, secondary school life and university life are different in terms of the
environment, the timetable arrangement, and the nature of learning.

In secondary school, the timetable is arranged by the school authorities and every student has the same
timetable in their respective classes. Students have to proceed from one class to another class directly,
with a short break in between the timetable. Students are spending 6 hours per day and total 30 hours
per week in secondary school. If they want to participate in extracurricular activities, they need the
permission from their parents and teachers. In contrary, a university student needs to arrange the
schedules themselves with the guidance from their lecturers. Students make their timetable
arrangement by using online service which is available on the website of the university. The timetable
is different from one another although the students are taking the same course. The timetable can be
arranged from the day to night, depends on the available time for the course. University students are
spending 20 to 22 hours each week in lecture class only. Unlike secondary school, lectures in
university are conducted in different classes or even different buildings. Students also have to make
their own decisions whether to participate in extracurricular activities. When students involve too
much in extracurricular activities, they are falling behind for their academics. Students must organise
their time wisely between study and leisure activities. According to Ellis (2015),

Television Is An American Staple Essay
Television is an American staple. According to Mitchell Stephens, Professor of Journalism and Mass
Communication at New York University, Television as we know it, was first introduced in 1927.
(Stevens) currently over 98% of American households have at least 1 television set and the average
American watches around 3 to 4 hours of television daily. The thought that television can entertain
and inform as well as influence is equally powerful and disturbing. As early as the 1920 s, Thomas
Edison recognized the potential of television as medium of influence. He stated the motion picture is
destined to revolutionize our educational system and...in a few years it will supplant largely, if not
entirely, the use of textbooks ( qtd in Fabos). After hearing a song on the radio or a commercial jingle
on TV more than 1000 times, that tune just gets stuck in your head. Similarly, the portrayals of
television programs become part of our being and therefore can subtly influence attitudes behaviors
and ultimately values. Sometimes these changes are for the better, sometimes not. Before the airing of
the Edmond Pettis Bridge incident, where peaceful civil rights protesters, including women and
children, who along with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr,. were marching from Selma to Montgomery, were
attacked with high pressure fire hose spay, police dogs and officers with batons, the world knew little
about the vehement treatment of an entire race of people. Everyone understood segregation, but

Informative Essay On Oldsmobile

American brands, Japanese, Germen to cars, SUV and trucks. Some of them are successful brand on
the market today, however, there are some that haven t had much luck and had to close their doors.
Today I will be talking about the automotive company Oldsmobile. I will be talking about the history
of the brand, where did the company started, the target market, the most popular unit sold, the reason I
ve picket Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile was created in 1897 by a man named Ransom E. Olds, Ransom was
born in Geneva, Ohio on June 3rd 1864 he passed away on August 26th 1950 at the age of 86. Ransom

It was a huge year for Oldsmobile. The key makes of their sales was their designe, the costumers
review and also their reliability of their popular Rocket V8 engine. Then in 1976 Oldsmobile was the
America s bestselling car on the market. The company was so popular that they displace some of its
competitor as the 3rd best selling automotive brand in the United States behind Ford and Chevrolet.
Later in 1977, General Motors was starting to struggle with Oldsmobile, they eventually had to change
their V8 engine with the Chevrolet 350engine because of the Federal emissions specifications. This
has started a public relations nightmare with GM. However they never stop trying to do something
new, in 1978 Oldsmobile came out with a 5.7L V8 diesel engine on optional vehicle like the Delta 88
and 98. Also, they came out with a 4.3L V8

Melting Point And Boling Point
Introduction: Melting point and Boling point are two fundamental physical properties that are
commonly used to identify unknown compounds, to verify already known compounds, and to
determine the purity of compounds.2 If the compound is a solid, the procedure for melting point
determination is followed. However, if it is a liquid a boiling point technique must be performed, such
as distillation or refluxing.2
The melting point determination consists of five major steps: obtain the sample and make sure it is
grinded, fill 2 3 capillary tubes with the sample, ensure that the sample is tightly packed, insert the
tubes into the Melting Point Apparatus to run a fast and a slow ramp, and finally record the data.3
Grinding the sample could be done by several methods. A large stainless steel spatula could be used to
directly crush the tiny crystals into fine powder, or the sample could be first placed within a folded
piece of filter paper and then pressed with the spatula.2 A mortar and pestle are also an appropriate
instrument to grind the sample.4 Next, the adequate amount of sample, which is 1 2mm, should be
collected with each capillary tube.2 If less sample is collected, it is much harder to see when the first
and last droplets form, making it difficult for the chemist to record melting range temperatures.6 If the
capillary tubes are filled with larger sample, this could cause uneven heating during the fast and slow
ramps and could also provide inaccurate melting range that is

Unit 2 Making Food Dye Lab
Lab II: Making Food Dye
By:
Alexander Medina

Abstract
In this paper, an artificial food dye will be made to mimic the color of Full Throttle. To determine
what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put through a spectrometer to determine what
wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths absorbed will correspond to specific colors absorbed.
It was determined that yellow 5 and yellow 6 will be used to make our artificial food dye to mimic
Full Throttle. Using Beer s Law, it was determined that a concentration of 0.0000236 moles of Yellow
5 and a concentration of 0.0001494 moles of yellow 6. Using our line of best fit from the absorption
graphs, it was determined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were giving
numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was found that our concentrations used
where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used for Full Throttle. To
correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ½. For example when finding the x value in our equation
y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that number is multiplied by 0.5 to
get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was used in the equation c1v1=c2v2.
After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was discovered that the beverage only had one
food dye. The experiment was intended to have a beverage with two food dyes present. To make up
for this, orange PowerAde was used and the experiment was repeated for orange PowerAde. The
solution was made for the orange PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the
diluted orange PowerAde solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these
peaks are at different absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume
that the same food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in
each graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other
that they merge as one overall peak. When comparing the two

journey to Mecca, he stopped by many cities along the way, and he gave out gold to many people
along the route. He also did much work to help others, showing all these people his merciful kindness.
He also built many mosques as he traveled. However, he went a little overboard because he gave out
so much gold in Cairo that the worth of gold in Cairo dropped significantly and caused inflation. The
economic crisis, he brought the people is still going on and it is very severe, we re assuming that it

The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me
Practice Commentary: The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me Eavan Bolland s The Black Lace
Fan my Mother Gave me from her book, Outside History (1990) gives readers the first impression that
the poem is about the value of a fan that has been passed down to her. However, based on the title, the
term black lace raises a sense of mystery and darkness as black lace is not completely see through,
there are spots that need to be filled in. To illustrate the value of the black lace fan, the speaker, who is
unknown, narrates on how the mother received it and also used very vivid descriptions on its
significance. To add to the sense of mystery suggested by the title, the use of him and her instead of
actual names enhances this quality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shortness of the sentence, She stood up acts as a sudden pause in the story, as though this abrupt
action has frozen time. In the next few lines, Bolland uses a miserable tone to reflect on the mother s
mood. To emphasize this sense of misery, she uses the three rhyming words, emptying , killing and
lighting , which have the connotations of bitterness and depression. Bolland also uses pathetic fallacy
to reflect on the emotions of the mother, stating that the distance smelled of rain and lightning. The
distance that is mentioned here may symbolize how distant she and her lover is now. At this point, the
readers would feel a sense of pathos towards this character. Hence, the third stanza is a transitioning
phase between her presence of the current situation and her stream of consciousness. As mentioned
before, the mother loses touch with the real world and is engaged in the beauty and delicacy of the
black lace fan. Bolland s use of visual imagery is impressive, as the readers get to have a clear picture
of the texture and details of the fan. The lines that read These are wild roses, appliqued on silk by
hand, Darkly picked, stitched boldly, quickly. make the description of the fan sound much more
interesting as Bolland has used

  • 2. Causes Of The Lost Colony Of Roanoke The lost colony of Roanoke is one of the most notorious mysteries in American history; the cryptic clues left at the abandoned settlement and the lack of any concrete evidence make it the focus of wild speculation and theories . Within three years what would have been the first permanent English colony that was formed in the New World disappeared in 1590, only leaving two small clues behind. The colony mayor John White returned to the island to discover the word Croatoan had been carved into the palisade surrounding the settlement as well as Cro carved into a nearby tree. It appeared as if the colonists had disassembled all buildings, packed up, and left without a trace. Throughout extensive research and sweeping the island there have been no remains or signs of Indian attacks found leaving one mysterious question unanswered: what was the cause of the disappearance of the Roanoke colony and where did they go? Roanoke was the first English settlement in the New World, founded in August of 1585 by the English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. The first colony suffered the usual lack of food supplies and Indian attacks, forcing them to return to England in 1586 on a ship that was captained by Sir Francis Drake. However, the following year Raleigh had made the decision to send another hundred colonists under the oversight of John White. The same situation that forced the original Roanoke colonists to return home began to trouble the new colony. Later that year the colonists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These crimes are separated into four categories. These categories are as follows, the computer as a target, the computer as an instrument of crime, the computer as incidental to a crime, and crimes associated with the prevalence of computers. In example of the computer as a target, is a case of Kevin Mitnick. Kevin Mitnick was once known as the world s most wanted social engineering computer hacker. In this category crimes associated with the prevalence of computers, the crimes include intellectual property violations, component that, counterfeiting, identity theft, and a number of corporate offenses. In this category intellectual property violations are described as piracy. Piracy includes the illegal downloading of music and movies. I believe the category of the computer as a target presents the greatest overall threat at this present time. The reasons for this is, computers as a target for instance computer hacking. Computer hacking enables people with this ability to access our nation s defense system. With this being said, this becomes a national security issue. Secondly, computer as a target enables people what this ability, to commit identity theft. As we know identity theft is on the rise. Identity theft causes millions and millions of dollars to be stolen or used by cyber criminals. These crimes make it very difficult for the victims to get everything back to normal before their identities were stolen. In this day and age, computers and the Internet have made criminals into better criminals, while law enforcement, US government, and the court systems are back in the game playing catch up. • 4. Structural Violence And Its Effects On Society Structural violence has become a frequently used instrument in the word of systemic oppression. This type of oppression and unfair limitations of civil, criminal and basic human rights can cause suffering and death to many innocent lives. Sociologist Johan Galtung was the one who developed this theory of structural violence. Indicated in one of his articles Violence, Peace, and Peace Research , structural violence is the systematic constraint on human potential due to economic and political structures (Galtung, 1969, p.177). Galtung is telling the readers that certain groups of people are systematically being limited to resources in society either directly or indirectly. Structural violence has been described as the most basic of fundamental form of violence, as it is expressive of the conditions of society that reproduce mass violations of personhood twenty four hours a day, seven days a week (Barak, 2003, p.113). This demonstrates that structural violence is an on going way to steal ones opportunities in society. Racism, sexism, classism and ageism are all examples of structural violence. It can be visible and invisible and can cause disadvantages for people who are considered poor or a minority within society. Structural violence is extremely important as it could lead to poverty, starvation, sicknesses and deaths. Although structural violence is a powerful and common method of ferocity, there are agents of change who locally and globally contribute to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Using Natural Gas and Liquid Natural Gas Introduction For decades the United States of America has been relying on fossil fuels to power its economy and to function as a country. One namely Diesel fuel has power big rigs that our country depends on to transport merchandise and goods. It seems like it is part of the American way of life burning more than 1 billion dollars worth of oil per day. An estimated 10 percent of that is consumed by big rig trucks. The United States military also used diesel for a majority of its craft and vehicles. That is a large amount of oil and that is why there is research being done looking for alternative options to keep the country going. The topics at hand are natural gas and liquid natural gas. Details and science of natural gas It goes without saying that there are many skeptics that argue liquid natural gas deposits create just as much emissions as coal and oil. The main thing in natural gas is methane which is much more potent than carbon dioxide. Natural gas comes from dense rock clusters known as shale. Energy drilling is really quite simple. It starts out with deposits of natural gas found deep in the ground. Scientists find these deposits using various methods like looking for seismic energy and magnetic traces. Once a probable deposited is found the drilling or energy company drills deep into the earth s crust to reach it. The next part is hard because after the hole is drilled the gas will not simply flow out of the hole. The natural gas is in the shale ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Juxtaposition Of Innocence And Corruption In Daisy Miller... Structuralism is the idea that language exists in patterns, therefore all literary works begin to develop underlying elements common to all human experiences (Purdue). Structuralist criticism analyzes these patterns, elements, and themes that interconnect the works in order to better understand them (Rump). In the story arcs of both Henry James Daisy Miller and Stephanie Meyer s Twilight, structuralist themes include the juxtaposition of innocence and corruption, and ignobility and refinement. The juxtaposition of innocence and corruption in humans is a major structuralist theme found in a wide variety of literary works. This trope is manifested through a young, naïve character, often depicted as a virginal girl dressed in white, and an older, more mature, brooding male who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry James novel Daisy Miller is a prime example; Daisy is the perfect embodiment of innocence. the young Miller is said to take on three different kinds of innocence. The first is ignorance, in which Daisy is uneducated on the customs and mannerisms of Europe and speaks unabashedly about her personal life, what Winterbourne perceives to be the most unbecoming of her. The second is naïveté, in which Daisy is unable to discern others motives, ultimately leading to her demise. The third is a blamelessness, where she has done nothing immoral out of malice but simply from her upbringing in the spirited nature of the American culture rather than the reserved and refined European culture. Daisy Miller s corruption originates from two men in her life; Her major love interest, Mr. Giovanelli, an Italian man with an unknown background, is the indirect cause of her corruption and the direct cause of her ultimate downfall. Miller and Giovanelli s intimate friendship, with no customary declaration of courtship, alarms many of her American expatriates. As the pair s friendship escalates into something more, gossip and judgement further ostracizes Daisy from the American community. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Relationship Between Marijuana And Depression By: Tyler Thomas The relationship between Cannabis sativa (marijuana) and depression has been a primary concern to research scientists. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars have made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the cannabinoids, a group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the point of interest for the researchers to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in the users. In particular, studies try to find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1. The receptor is located in the peripheral as well as the central nervous system. THC is an agonist of the CB1, which forms the point of influence of the marijuana on the nervous system. The primary concern of researchers is to understand the impact of marijuana on occurrence on depression. Also, there should be an elaboration on how such an interaction increases or attenuates depression in the users. Understanding the relationship between marijuana and depression in users will be instrumental in diverse perspective. The use of marijuana may be promoted if anti depressive impact is found. It may lead further research to explore the opportunity. Such may include pharmacological modifications to treat depressed patients. Otherwise, a negative relationship would lead to increased studies to be utilized in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book also displays blatant bullying by other kids at the main character s school towards him, and use of derogatory names such as Sissy . Also, there is the daily indignity that Elmer must endure, that many flamboyant men must endure, whether straight or homosexual, every day when they are not accepted, or made to feel different by the dominant class (Straight people), that is portrayed very vividly in this book. The real question is whether Napoleon was the legitimate heir to the visions of the French revolution. Napoleon was in essence a very powerful man that took control of France but threw out many of the ideals of the French Revolution. His actions during his takeover where more than enough to prove that he did not intend to let France live through the old beliefs of the French revolution. • 12. Benefits Of An Electronic Health Record ( Emr ) Many patients do not fully understand the benefits as well as the drawbacks of an Electronic Health Record (EMR); however, there are many of both. The first major benefit is that you, as a patient, no longer have to remind the provider of previous information, such as orders or allergies. This greatly increases efficiency in terms of patient visit times. Another benefit of an EMR is that a doctor is much less likely to provide medication in error. For example, a patient could currently be taking a daily dose of Aspirin, which is a blood thinner. If their doctor did not know this medication was in use and prescribed them Warfarin, which is also a blood thinner, they have a much higher risk of bleeding. With an EHR, this data is most likely stored in the system, as long as the physician was aware of this. If they were, the system would alert them of this, which would prompt the physician of this, and would not let them order the medication without signing off, agreeing that they are aware of the conflict. There is always a chance for human error, but with an EHR, this is greatly decreased. A negative effect of an EHR, which many patients are aware of, is the change in visit. When paper records were in effect, the doctor could visit with the patient face to face, but there is much more typing and checkboxes involved with current visits, so the physician is now required to spend as much time on the computer as they do with the patient. • 13. Science Of Economics By Neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni 4. Mirror neurons are a major component in brain functioning, and thus it gives them a primary role in pscyho economic reasoning. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which were popularized within the field of economics by neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since played a big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in bridging perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian scientists in Parma, Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any discernable action. Put more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a mirror like firing sequence in response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical motor reaction. The scientists who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a perception and actual execution of a particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons are unique as they are universal in the brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex states such as morality. In this sense mirror neurons have the potential to be major factors within group dynamics as they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Character Analysis Of Mrs. Dalloway, By Virginia Woolf Written by Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway is a fictional novel that concentrates on the daily encounters of Clarissa Dalloway and her flashbacks. Woolf s stream of consciousness technique and third person narration gives the reader an insight into the doings and feelings of the various characters in the novel. Woolf s commentary focuses on the oppression that resulted from World War I. This is seen primarily in Septimus Warren Smith, who suffers from shell shock and serves as a double of Clarissa. On a Wednesday in June, Clarissa, who is currently 52 years old, introduces the readers to a plethora of streets in Westminster and also the up scale guests who will be attending her party that evening. Clarissa is known for her lavish parties, thrown for the purpose of allowing important people to chat, while maintaining her upper class image that was gained through her marriage with Mr. Dalloway. The plot of the novel is simple, yet readers know intricate details about the characters through their thoughts. In Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf uses Clarissa s isolation, her realization of life and death, and the relationships between the characters in a single day during the post World War I era to express the feelings and thoughts of Clarissa, who hears the striking of Big Ben and reflects upon her past. Mrs. Dalloway, although married to Richard Dalloway and living in an apartment with Sally Seton, displays signs of isolation and loneliness. Her parties are a way for her to ... • 22. The Feminine Mystique Analysis Both the Victorian Era and 1950s and 1960s America featured inflexible expectations of a wife and her views on marriage. Grant Allen, a Victorian essayist, in Plain Words on the Women Question in 1889, wrote, We ought frankly to recognize that most women must be wives and mothers: that most women should therefore be trained, physically, morally, socially, and mentally, in the way best fitting for them to be wives and mothers (Broadview Anthology 628). Essentially, Allen holds the belief that all women are meant to serve as an asset to men, to complement men. Additionally, his use of the word train connotes that women should be disciplined to fit this role, which betrays the lack of equality between the sexes. He further argues that it goes against nature for women to desire more than motherhood and wifehood. He chastises women who attempt to oppose their duty, instead of boasting of their sexlessness as a matter of pride, they ought to keep it in the dark, and to be ashamed of it (628). In other words, to be feminine is to mother children and to marry a man. Deviating from this neatly structured plan for a woman s obligation is to become unfeminine. In America, Betty Friedan, a feminist writer, wrote The Feminine Mystique in 1963. In her book, she rebels against the traditional view of femininity. She coined the term which shares the title of her book as, The feminine mystique says that the highest value and the only commitment for women is the fulfillment of ... • 25. Marriage And The Role Of Women Kate Eickhoff Dr. White IB 11 English 28 November 2016 Marriage Essay During the 14th century, marriage and the role of women in the marriage were very different from today. Most marriages in the 14th century occurred between an older man and a young girl; a girl is usually chosen because they were pure and could produce the most heirs. The bride s family would pay the husband through a dowry, consisting of land, money, or anything of high value. The more unattractive the women were, the more the family would have to pay the husband. Right here, women are already being objectified by their looks. Men want a girl who looks pure and untouched, why would anyone want a dirtied girl. Being someone who was not good looking was an even bigger disgrace since your appearance does not please your husband, you are not doing your job of keeping him happy. Women are often portrayed as an object of men to be bought and fondled with; they are not allowed to control their lives. Geoffrey Chaucer took part in telling the story of how many women acted in the 14th century and how the women were portrayed at this time. Chaucer s views on marriage are made very clear throughout The Canterbury Tales. He used the five marriage tales: The Shipman s Tale, The Wife s Prologue , The Clark s Tale , The Merchant s Tale , and The Franklin s Tale to express his views on marriage, I was struck most strongly by how much he knew about love, about men and women, by the depth and complexity of an ... This allows the train to lift between 0.39 and 3.93 inches (1 to 10 centimeters) above the guideway. Once the train is lifted, power is supplied to the coils within the guideway walls. This creates a unique system of magnetic fields that pull and push the train along the guideway. The electric current supplied to the coils in the guideway walls is constantly alternating to change the polarity of the magnetized coils. This change in polarity causes the magnetic field in front of the train to pull the vehicle forward, while the magnetic field behind the train adds more forward thrust. Maglev trains float on a cushion of air, which removes friction. The trains have an aerodynamic designs. • 29. The Between The East And West Essay In Western society, specifically the US and Europe, feminists and Neo pagans use Kali as an icon of anger at a patriarchal society. They see Kali as a force to be reckoned with, an awe inspiring image for women in a developing country such as India. However, women in India rarely use goddesses as images of women s rights, despite having a pantheon rich with female deities. Why is this? Do they revere the image of the goddesses too much to use them in a political stance? Or are they afraid of the implications in using a Hindu goddess as a feminist icon? The people of India worship Kali in a similar manner to their other goddesses, despite her frightening appearance: that of a mother and wife taking care of her family, her worshippers. However, she loses her sweeter caring nature in the West. The polarization of Kali s image between the East and West is interesting to note. Does this view of goddesses affect the view of women and their rights in India? How do Hindus feel about the use of Kali as an icon in the West? The way Euro Americans see Kali as almost a raging monster might not only be because of her appearance, but because she is an alien figure from an alien land. Non Hindus are unsure of her purpose aside from the goddess of destruction. To Western culture, gods either are a single monotheistic being and thus embody all aspects, or have one primary aspect or multiple aspects that coincide with each other. • 34. Melting Point And Boling Point Introduction: Melting point and Boling point are two fundamental physical properties that are commonly used to identify unknown compounds, to verify already known compounds, and to determine the purity of compounds.2 If the compound is a solid, the procedure for melting point determination is followed. However, if it is a liquid a boiling point technique must be performed, such as distillation or refluxing.2 The melting point determination consists of five major steps: obtain the sample and make sure it is grinded, fill 2 3 capillary tubes with the sample, ensure that the sample is tightly packed, insert the tubes into the Melting Point Apparatus to run a fast and a slow ramp, and finally record the data.3 Grinding the sample could be done by several methods. A large stainless steel spatula could be used to directly crush the tiny crystals into fine powder, or the sample could be first placed within a folded piece of filter paper and then pressed with the spatula.2 A mortar and pestle are also an appropriate instrument to grind the sample.4 Next, the adequate amount of sample, which is 1 2mm, should be collected with each capillary tube.2 If less sample is collected, it is much harder to see when the first and last droplets form, making it difficult for the chemist to record melting range temperatures.6 If the capillary tubes are filled with larger sample, this could cause uneven heating during the fast and slow ramps and could also provide inaccurate melting range that is ... To determine what food dye are needed, Full Throttle will be put through a spectrometer to determine what wavelengths are absorbed. Specific wavelengths absorbed will correspond to specific colors absorbed. It was determined that yellow 5 and yellow 6 will be used to make our artificial food dye to mimic Full Throttle. Using Beer s Law, it was determined that a concentration of 0.0000236 moles of Yellow 5 and a concentration of 0.0001494 moles of yellow 6. Using our line of best fit from the absorption graphs, it was determined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When making the absorption graphs for the yellow 5 and yellow 6, the lines of best fit were giving numbers that were extremely small. After help from the TA, it was found that our concentrations used where twice as small of a concentration compared to what was actually used for Full Throttle. To correct this the molarity s were multiplied by ½. For example when finding the x value in our equation y=2.044x+0.2067 the answer is x = 7.28 5 moles. To correct this, that number is multiplied by 0.5 to get the correct value of 3.64*10^ 5. This new number is what was used in the equation c1v1=c2v2. After the solution was made to mimic Full Throttle it was discovered that the beverage only had one food dye. The experiment was intended to have a beverage with two food dyes present. To make up for this, orange PowerAde was used and the experiment was repeated for orange PowerAde. The solution was made for the orange PowerAde and its absorption graph was compared to that of the diluted orange PowerAde solution. Comparing the two graphs, have the same peaks although these peaks are at different absorption levels. Since the two graphs have the same peaks it is safe to assume that the same food dyes are present in both solutions. It is important to note that there are two peaks in each graph despite only seeing one peak. This is because both peaks are located so close to each other that they merge as one overall peak. Bolland also uses pathetic fallacy to reflect on the emotions of the mother, stating that the distance smelled of rain and lightning. The distance that is mentioned here may symbolize how distant she and her lover is now. At this point, the readers would feel a sense of pathos towards this character.
