Enteromonas hominis is a non-pathogenic, flagellated protozoan commonly found in the intestines of humans in warm and temperate climates. It has a trophozoite stage with flagella and can form a cyst. The life cycle involves fecal-oral transmission through contaminated food or water. While not pathogenic, it can be found worldwide through human-to-human transmission which can be controlled through improved hygiene and sanitation practices.
