Cestodes, or tapeworms, are flat segmented parasitic worms that infect the intestines of humans and other animals. They range in size from a few millimeters to several meters in length. The body consists of a head (scolex) and chain of segments (proglottids) that contain reproductive organs. Two major orders that infect humans are Pseudophyllidea and Cyclophyllidea.
