The University Of North Carolina At Wilmington
Statistics show that after high school, many graduates tend to end their education. Many people do not
choose to continue their education and attend college. My goal is to not be a part of this statistic. After
I graduate from Wayne Early Middle College High School with my high school diploma and my two
year Associate in Science degree, I hope to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
According to newly released facts by the Business Journal, the University of North Carolina at
Wilmington was ranked as one of the top 50 business schools in the nation. This influences my desire
to attend even more as I plan to major in business administration. People have different reasons for
choosing their majors in college. I want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of this list, I chose UNC W for a number of reasons. The main reason I chose this school was the
location. UNC W is centered in one of the largest cities in North Carolina. Within just a few miles,
there is access to the beach and there is access to a flourishing city. Wilmington is also known for its
breathtaking landscape. Being only an hour and a half from Goldsboro, I can quickly get home if
needed. The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is known for its size, for the price
reasonability, and for the Cameron School of Business. Upon acceptance to UNC W, I plan to attend
the Cameron School of Business. In this area, you can specialize in different aspects such as
accounting, marketing, and human resource. The Cameron School of Business also has contact to an
organization called the Cameron Executive Network. This is a program where retired and current
senior executives mentor students in the business school. The size of UNC W is very reasonable. In
the fall 2014 semester, there were 14,611 students, both graduate and undergraduate, enrolled. The
student faculty ratio is 16:1. The cost of attending UNC W is very sensible, as the annual budget for

Confucianism Vs Taoism
Confucianism and Taoism are some of the major religions in China. They have greatly influenced the
culture of the Chinese people as well as their world view. The connection between the two religions
has influenced many people over time. It can also be said that when the principles of both
philosophies are put together, the outcome is a well rounded person. The following is a discussion of
the principles and philosophies behind these two religions as well as how the two religions interact
and connect to influence an individual.
Confucianism is a religion that bases its philosophy and principles on the teachings of Confucius, a
Chinese philosopher who lived between 551 and 478 BC. The Philosophy behind Confucianism is

Knowledge means to appreciate the true and deep significance of something. Integrity on the other
hand means honesty and standing by one s words.
Taoism is a Chinese religious tradition that stresses the importance of living harmoniously with the
essence and source of all that exists or the Tao. In Chinese, Tao means the path, way or principle but it
can also mean nature or reality. In Taoism, the right path is working in harmony with nature or reality.
Taoism ethics stress the three jewels of the Tao which include moderation, compassion and humility.
The philosophy of Taoism centers on nature and how human beings should relate with the cosmos.
Inner fulfillment can be achieved through contemplation of nature. Nature is like a stream of wisdom
and by experiencing it through innocent eyes, we can internalize its pleasantness, its intrigue and its
excitement and make serenity.
There are four fundamental principles in Taoism including Tao, De, Pu and Wu wei. Tao in Taoism is
the natural, spontaneous, eternal and indescribable way everything began and took course. It is the
force that is behind natural order, the natural flow of the universe or that which keeps the universe
ordered and balanced. De on the other hand is the integrity, virtue and power that are an active
expression of the way or Tao. It is the living out or cultivation of the way. Wu wei, the third principle

Birth Of Samson Research Paper
Samson is the Bible s Hercules; since he is known as a great man of superhuman strength. Samson
was the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites. There were three judges who ruled Israel. The
judges were Ibzan, Elon, and Abdon. As the people of Israel began to worship idols again, God sent
forth the Philistines, a strong and aggressive army. They ravaged the land, stole the Israelites food and
weapons, so that they could not fight back. The Israelites prayed and thus he brought about a savior.
That savior was Samson.
The story of the birth of Samson stated in the 13th Chapter of The Book of Judges. The story starts
with a man named Manoah, who had a wife that was unable to give birth to a child. A man of God
appeared to her and said, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

holding his hand to put him where he could feel the pillars that support the temple, so that he could
lean against it. The entire temple was getting filled with men and women and all of the rulers. Samson
prayed to the Lord and asked Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let
me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes. With all of his great might he
pushed against the temple and yelled, Let me die with the Philistines! and the temple came crashing

Sam Patch Essay
Jonathan Kroger
History 2111
April 22, 2010
Sam Patch s Leap into the Great Divide
Some things can be done as well as others , the famous line of Sam Patch became a well known saying
amongst U.S. citizens especially Jeffersonian and Jacksonian democrats (Johnson, 163). Sam Patch
was many things in his lifetime from a famous falls jumper to a destitute mill worker to also the first
American born boss spinner. He however was viewed different amongst social groups in America. The
common folk and Jeffersonian democrats viewed Patch as a good man and somewhat of a folk hero,
while the middle class and Hamiltonians viewed him as a drunkard and a sign of the decay of society
in America. He was a product of the harsh system and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand; the middle class who was most often associated with Hamiltonian views viewed
Sam Patch as a simple drunkard and a symbol of the decay and immoralities of American society.
Journalists during his time wrote Sam Patch like many other great geniuses is a greater friend to the
bottle than the bottle is to him (Johnson, 115). The middle class viewed themselves as respectables
and the wage earning class was inferior to them, which is evident in the celebration ceremonies in
Paterson on the Fourth of July. Celebrations started off with a parade, banquet, and fireworks where
all Patersonians were welcome to participate, but gradually transitioned to a more exclusive
celebration of a large group of respectable Young Men where toasts weren t based on patriotism
anymore yet based on entrepreneurial progress (Johnson, 65). Sam Patch s celebrity and life not only
showed growing social and political differences, but it showed the increasing gap that was growing
between the wage earning and middle class as a result of the market revolution.
The wage earning class was the debtors, debtors who owed money and had to work to make a living
for creditors, most of whom made up what would be known as the middle class. The tradition of
fathers passing their land on down to their sons was slowly dying such as with Mayo Greenleaf Patch
and his sons. Mayo Patch s life was riddled with owing debts to the middle

The Case Of State V. Evans
In the case of State v, Evans, he was a stalker who stalked Arnold. In the case their was a couple of
incidences where he raned into her on purpose, so he was charged with stalking . In the case I will

Facts

of her feet. Evans told Arnold that he took pictures for a New York magazine and he helped other
women become models. Arnold decline evans offer, and after that it kept being incident where he
called or bumped into Arnold. On the second incident, he called Arnold house and left a message with
her father in 1989. Also, he called again and the father told him not to call anymore. In 2000 Evans
spotted Arnold in a drugstore parking lot, and he asked her agak could he take pictures of her feet.
Evan made a derogatory statement by stating he would like her legs bare and apart. This upset Arnold,
and she answered no. Arnold runned out the store. On August 7, 2001 Evans called and left a message
with Arnold s Mother, but Arnold did not return the message worried he would find out where she
lived. Arnold later called police , and he was charged with harassment. The harassment charges did not
stick because the jury did not find him guilty. Another incident happened, on August 31, 2001 Evans

Barbie Dolls Have Changed
How a childhood object has changed over time and how it is related to broader contexts.
In this essay I am going to be discussing and assessing how the Barbie Doll which is a toy for
children, mainly for girls has changed over the years since the 1900 s to the present generation and
how this relates to other larger contexts like class, gender, race, disability and faith. Below I have
inserted 2 pictures of the Barbie doll, One from 1959 and one from 2010, which is fairly recent. 1950

I believe that Barbie has changed massively over the years in skin colour, hair colour and sizes. Piaget
has created the theory of learning through play. He says children engage themselves In imaginative
play which means that if they see a story or characters they are most likely to imitate them and what
they do. When children imitate others they develop a vocabulary which allows them to name the
world around them. This relates to dolls because if a child is given a doll which moves and does things
around a doll house like cleaning, a child will imitate that around the house and act like a house wife
like the doll. This shows that dolls are created in that way to leave a image in the child s head on what
a girl does when she grows up, likewise how the dolls have changed, whilst children grow older they
have certain changes in them

Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice
Scenario Explained
The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and acceptance.
These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation
to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice
placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does
amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was
willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at
the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation.
Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car,
from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to
be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to which he
is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

there was no contract and there had been no authorized communication between the managers and Mr.
Powell. Also Charlie complied with Arnold s notice for sale, by visiting Arnold s house and leaving
his acceptance he used a method that was quicker and more efficient that the one that was stipulated

The Life of Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher
Aristotle (384 322 B.C.) was a Greek Philosopher from the Socratic/Classical period in Athens,
Greece. Socrates developed a system of critical reasoning in order to determine how to live properly
and tell the difference between right and wrong. Aristotle was one of his followers along with Plato
and they made a commitment to the truth, and organized and systematized most of the problems of
philosophy. He is one of the most important figures in Western Philosophy and was the first person to
create a comprehensive system of philosophy.
Aristotle was born to an aristocratic family in Stagira. His father was the personal physician to King
Amyntas of Macedon. Aristotle was trained and educated as a member of the aristocracy. At age 10,
Aristotle s father died (which meant that he could not follow his father s profession as a doctor
anymore) and his mother also died young, so, he was taken under the care of a man named Proxenus.
At age 18, he moved to Athens to complete his education at Plato s famous Academy. Aristotle
remained there for nearly twenty years, first as a student and then as a teacher, until after Plato s death
in 347 B.C.. He left the academy because he wasn t chosen to be head of the academy since his ideas
diverged far from Plato s. In 335 B.C., Aristotle established his own school outside the walls of
Athens, known as the Lyceum, in competition with Plato s Academy. The Lyceum had a broader
curriculum than the Academy, and a stronger emphasis on natural

Iran And The Iranian Nuclear Weapons Program
The summer of 2015 marked a significant event in history the five permanent members of the United
Nations Security Council, Germany, and Iran were able to come to an agreement about restricting Iran
s nuclear programs. The capability of Iran to pursue a nuclear weapon scared the international
community, and this deal brought some peace to the political scene. For Iran, a nuclear weapon
represented legitimacy and leverage over the major powers of the world, so it is interesting that Iran
willingly blocked its avenue to achieve this bargaining chip. Nonetheless, there are ongoing security
concerns about a nuclear Iran and its methods of power projection, so it becomes necessary to analyze
the success of the Iranian nuclear deal and current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In return, the United States and other nations agreed to lift some sanctions on Iran, unfreeze its assets,
and allow Iran to enter the international oil market. On January 16, 2016, the International Atomic
Energy Agency officially declared, Iran has curbed its nuclear program enough to begin receiving
relief on sanctions (Kennedy 2016). This statement alone demonstrates that the nuclear deal reduced
the risk of a nuclear Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency has historically expressed great
concerns about Iran s overt and clandestine nuclear operations. The nuclear deal with Iran granted the
International Atomic Energy Agency to have the ability to do strict inspections on Iran, which Iran has
avoided in the past, so the declaration of Iran s fulfillment of international standards shows the
efficacy and the durability of the agreement.
The major critics of the nuclear deal cite Iran s track record of long term deviation from previous
agreements and resolutions and argue Iran will renege on its promises. This argument is legitimate
because Iran has numerous violations across decades. For example, from about the mid 1980s to 2003,
Iran violated several sections of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement. Iran failed to report that it
had purchased natural uranium from China in 1991, failed to report that it had used 1.9 kg of the
imported UF6 to test P1 centrifuges at the Kalaye Electric Company centrifuge workshop in 1999 and
2002, and worst of all,

Wal Mart Integrated Inventory Management Systems
Wal Mart currently has one of the most advanced inventory management systems due to their use of
RFID tracking capabilities. Every product is equipped with a radio frequency identification tag, which
identifies the location and type of product in the warehouse. As the product leaves the warehouses,
there are readers in place at the door that automatically recognize which products are leaving and
entering the warehouse. The benefit of this is that it limits the use of employees better employed
elsewhere and has impeccable accuracy, much more accurate and faster than if employees were to take

The store could also develop an app in the long run where customers could send a grocery list to their
cart from home that would come up on the display on the cart to make shopping a more convenient
activity. At the end of the shopping session, the shopper simply walks out of the store with the cart
where, at the door, the main reader receives a radiofrequency signal from the cart that supplies the
main reader with the total sum of the purchases. The reader sends that total to a computer that charges
the customer for their purchases on their credit card and sends an invoice to the customers phone
within minutes. This will allow for grocery stores to be able to analyze customer preferences and
buying habits in real time, which will allow them to be able to better tailor their selection to their
customers. The immediate benefits of this product are apparent this business idea has the potential to
alleviate the long lines at grocery stores and significantly cut down on the amount of employees that
these stores need to hire. This could have positive effects on the efficiency of the grocery stores that

Racial Predujice toward Minority Groups
Racial prejudice toward minority groups has been a problem throughout all of history. While overt
racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much
alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice
by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many
instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in
New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous
because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes
unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the same and given the same amount
of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making
sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups.
A world without prejudice would be a much more effective world with more time spent on making life
better for all instead of violence and hate. Government officials and psychologists are trying to
advertise how being in contact with other ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Many psychologists
are already praising contact theory research for its contribution toward world peace and its efforts
against prejudice (Dixon, Tropp, Durrheim, and Tredoux 2010). However, the two empirical

Firstly, in the baker show at the beginning of the advert, the music is slightly upbeat evoking a sense
of anticipation. During the wartime bombed area, the music bed level drops and it changes to only
slow piano chords to signify the depression and misery of the location. Additionally, it creates tension
and emotion for the audience. This music also mirrors the boy s feelings through the tempo and pitch.
The music returns again quietly, with violins playing in a solemn and respectful way for the loss of life
from the war. It then begins to build up again with Churchill s speech, bringing a sense of defiance and
a feeling of pride. Another illustration of the music in the advert reflecting the mood of the scene is
during the world cup setting. The pace of the melody picks up and the dynamics increase to show
excitement, joy and energy. It gets louder and even more instruments are added. In the millennium
setting, the tune is at a very fast pace with many diverse instruments all playing at the same time,
which gives strong emphasis on the environment s joyful and ecstatic setting. Throughout the advert,
there are a variety of non diegetic and diegetic sounds. The music in this advert is the only non
diegetic sound. A number of diegetic sounds are used, for example, when the car is passing by in the
world cup scene, the chants the fans are yelling are diegetic as the young boy can hear them. This

Fichte And Noumenon
Through history, philosophers have often relied on assistance to complete or perfect these theories.
The philosophers we will be addressing today are no exception. By that, I mean Kant and Fichte and
their theories of things unknowns and what exactly that makes them
We shall start with a contradiction, a Yin and yang of sorts. By this, I mean noumenon and

that Fichte is an idealist, not a dogmatist this is too because of what he is but more what he isn t. He is
not like Kant who believes that everything beyond a certain set of rules is knowable aka a dogmatist

Forest Stewardship Council
Introducing the initiative
As the global population move into an increased dependence on technology, there is a negative
feedback observed between natural ecosystem and humans. That is, the resources from plants and
animals, unfortunately, becomes the driving force for our conspicuous consumption. However, Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) is an organisation that helps to mitigate some of this unsustainable means
of production. Their main mission is to manage the world s forest in a way that promotes
environmental, social and economic prosperity. One of the initiatives set up by this organisation to

such practice are often shamed in some community because they are seen as unsustainable and
experience fall in market demand. The policy has to be accessible not only geographically, but also
cost wise. The measurement of sustainability for a given community should not only be based on FSC

Photography Books and the Photographers Who Created Them
This essay will try to be about photography books and the photographers who created them. I will try
to explain on their importance in history and why they are so important to all photographers, as a
whole idea and individually, as inspiration. The Pencil of Nature was written by Henry Fox Talbot it
was originally published in six installments between 1844 and 1846. It included 24 calotype prints,
each one was pasted in by hand
These helped illustrate some of the possible applications for his new process. It was the first
photographic book with illustrations to be published for commercial reasons . The Pencil of Nature
was published and sold one section at a time, without any binding. This seems to be a common
practise for most books during this time period. The purchasers had to pay a bookbinder to bind them
once all the installments had been released It was wholly executed by the new art of,Photogenic
Drawing, which was a contact printing process using salt. Talbot had planned a large number of
installments; however, the book was not a financial success and he was forced to terminate the project
after completing only six. This volume is regarded as an important and influential work in the history
of photography. It started what was become a revolution of artist putting their work in book form, thus
combining many separate photographs into one cohesive idea. The Family Album of Lucybelle Crater
by Ralph Eugene Meatyard was originally published

Voldemort s power diminished when he attempted to murder the Potter family, specifically a young

No, Harry, he has not. He is still out there somewhere, perhaps looking for another body to share... not

Protein Milk Proteins
Protein
Types of Protein Milk proteins are extensively studied regarding their role in exercise training
adaptations (Hartman et al., 2007; Tang, Moore, Kujbida, Tarnopolsky, Phillips, 2009). Ingestion of
milk proteins following exercise is shown to accelerate muscle recovery, increase glycogen
replenishment, and improve protein balance in a positive manner that allow for increases in muscular
strength and hypertrophy (Cockburn, Stevenson, Hayes, Robson Ansley, Howatson, 2010; Hartman et
al., 2007; Tang et al., 2009; Wojcik, Walberg Rankin, Smith, Gwazdauskas, 2001). Milk proteins also
contain the greatest amount of leucine compared to plant based counterparts (L E Norton Wilson,

Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in
tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009).
Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to
be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to
be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s
ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular
amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and
reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the
anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass
accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete
proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them
incomplete. When consuming an isonitrogenous and isoenergetic serving of skim milk and soy milk
with 18 grams of protein, the skim milk was able to stimulate muscle protein synthesis to a greater
extent, 0.1%

What Are The Similarities Between Loretta And Doolittle
Loretta Lynn was a small town, poor coal miner s daughter that lived in Butcher Holler, Kentucky
until she was thirteen. She was a young, ignorant , naive girl that fell in love with Doolittle. When
Loretta and Doolittle first started dating she was head over heels for him and wanted to spend all of
her time with him. Loretta always said exactly what was on her mind to Doolittle, but he still had
power and never stood up for herself when Doo downgraded her and hit her. For example, Doo would
never let her wear make up and Lynn doesn t do anything when he sees him cheating on her. When

Nicholas Culshaw December 6th 2016 Introduction The following report will introduce the topic of
the Caribbean plate and its evolution, origin and the active physical process within tectonic
environments. The Pacific model will be discussed in this paper, and assumes the formation of the
Caribbean plate at the Galapagos hotspot in the Pacific Ocean during the Middle Cretaceous. Regional
Setting The Caribbean plate is a lithospheric plate consisting mainly of an unusually thick, oceanic
plateau situated between two major continental regions, such as North and South America. The
Caribbean plate is roughly 3000 km from east to west, and 800 Km from North to South and 2.64
million Km^2 area (James, Lorente, Pindell, 2009). There are four marine areas present such as the
Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan basin, and the Cayman trough, which are within the
surrounding of the Caribbean plate and its islands. The Cocos Plate, North American Plate, Nazca
Plate and the South American Plate surround the Caribbean plate (Figure 1) (HARGRAVES, 1984).
Boundaries of Caribbean Plate are from Guatemala along trend of the Cayman Trough, through the
greater Antillean islands Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, south through the volcanic arc of the Lesser
Antilles that bound the Caribbean plate to the east, along the northern South American continental
margin, and the west coast of

The Perceptible Propaganda in the film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens)
JS 233: The Holocaust and Film
Prof. James Diamond
Monday, February 2nd, 2015
The film Triumph of the Will was created in 1934 after Hitler was named Fuhrer of Germany. At the
time, Hitler was eager to improve the public image of the NSDP (National Socialist German Workers
Party). After his election as chancellor in Early January 1933, Hitler gave Leni Riefenstahl the job of
filming the annual NSDAP conference in Nuremberg, Germany . Riefenstahl accepted the offer and
agreed document, direct and edit the Conference. As years pasted, the infamous documentary began to
be speculated as possible Nazi Propaganda.
Although presumptions began to arise, Riefenstahl stated that Triumph of the Will was clearly a
factual documentary and stated: Not a single scene is staged...It is history, pure history and that she
simply filmed what she saw. Susan Sontag s response in her dissertation Fascinating Fascism
concluded that the film is fascist propaganda promoting Nazi ideology but itself is not a about fascism
. Sontag was right to the title the film was fascist due to Riefenstahl s extreme forthright about her
infatuation with Hitler. In an interview with Detroit news Riefenstahl stated: To me Hitler is the
greatest man who ever lived. He is really faultless, so simple yet so filled with ,manly power... He is

Love In Love, My Love For Basketball
Hello, my name is Tamara, and I m in love with this sport. I m 18 years old, a senior in high school. I
m a sprinter in the 100 200m 400m events. It may not be much, but I just thought I d share my story
and my dreams simply because I enjoy doing so. It all started in eighth grade, I was 15. I never had
any experience with sports whatsoever except for basketball earlier that year, and honestly had no idea
what I was doing. I felt I had no physical ability and had low self esteem when it came to my athletic
ability. I was 4 6 and still managed to get on picked for the team for basketball, though probably being
one of the shortest people in the group. Basketball has been a sport I ve always liked, and realizing
how hard it really was to actually play was a hard pill for me to swallow. During the period of the
season, I spent the time in basketball off season to practice on what needed to know and what can help
me during next season. After the basketball season ended, our head coach called us all to the gym, and
began telling us it was time for a new sport; Track and Field. she told us it was for the best of the best.
We went outside and got all of our times. Being inexperienced, I was wearing casual high top reeboks
that were extremely heavy. I did well. The next day, my friend encouraged me to try some old shoes
she had, emphasizing how light they were. The time we needed to make to be considered for the team

Slavery in the South Essay
Slavery in the South
A large majority of whites in the South supported slavery even though fewer of a quarter of them
owned slaves because they felt that it was a necessary evil and that it was an important Southern
institution. In 1800 the population of the United States included 893,602 slaves, of which only 36,505
were in the northern states. Vermont, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New
York, and New Jersey provided for the emancipation of their slaves before 1804, most of them by
gradual measures. The 3,953,760 slaves at the census of 1860 were in the southern states. Eminent
statesmen from the earliest period of the national existence, such as Thomas Jefferson and George
Washington regarded slavery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If at one time slavery had been common in much of the Americas, by the middle of the 19th century it
remained only in Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the southern United States. In an era that celebrated
liberty and equality, the slaveholding Southern states appeared backward and repressive. This drew
most Northerner s into the abolitionist movement not so much for the behalf of slaves, but how
slavery made the United States look. Despite this, the slave economy grew rapidly, enriched by the
spectacular increase in cotton cultivation to meet the growing demand of Northern and European
textile manufacturers. Southern economic growth, however, was based largely on cultivating more
land. The South did not undergo the industrial revolution that was beginning to transform the North;
the South remained almost entirely rural. In 1860 there were only five Southern cities with more than
50,000 inhabitants (only one of which, New Orleans, was in the Deep South); less than 10 percent of
Southerners lived in towns of at least 2500 people, compared to more than 25 percent of Northerners.
The South also increasingly lagged in other indications of modernization, from railroad construction
to literacy and public education. For these reasons, many Southerners felt that slavery was all too
necessary because their agrarian economy was based around it. Many feared that the abolition of
slavery would result in a Southern economic collapse. The biggest gap between North and

The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual ( Dsm ) Of Mental...
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders, fifth edition, defines a person with
autism spectrum disorder as having persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction.
This includes having deficits in social emotional reciprocity, deficits in nonverbal communicative
behaviors used for social interaction, and deficits in developing, maintaining, and understanding
relationships. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder, which concludes that it consists of
developmental delays in basic functioning such as socialization and communication. Pervasive
developmental disorders are also called Autism Spectrum Disorders or ASD (DSM V). The fifth

Stigma and cultural norms, along with poor diagnosis or medical infrastructure, could be undermining
prevalence rates, masking the amount of children that have autism in developing countries. (Maguire,
2013)
According to the DSM 5 Autism is define as neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired
social interaction, verbal and non verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior.
Although we have yet to talk about autism in class I did write about it in my previous assignment.
Autism effects the processing of the brain, which tends to delay development and language. Around
cultures autism is widely known.
In the U.S. Children with ASD can grow and can learn, however it s at a different development rate
than other healthy children. Many professionals studying the field of autism can agree that developing
an appropriate community based education and treatment program for an individual with ASD at an
early age is a very important step to ensuring that the child will reach his or her potential. Not saying
that older children or adults cannot learn or develop, it just may take longer or children may do it
quicker.
Autism is considered a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three
years of a child s life. The result of this neurological disorder affects the functioning of the brain by
slowing the development of language and cognitive processing autism and its associated behaviors
have been estimated to occur

The Theories Of Scientific Naturalism
In society today there are two worldviews that tend to be complete opposites, the ideas of scientific
naturalism against Christianity. These worldviews are incredibly opposite, but there may be areas that
the two opposing sides could meet on. Both views have valid ideas to contribute to the argument. We
strengthen our beliefs through ideological conflict with others. Both view points are strengthened
when compared to each other rather than presented separately with no alternative view to oppose it.
Before we start one question needs to be answered, what is scientific naturalism and what are our
parameters for Christianity. Scientific naturalism relies heavily on scientific observation. The view
claims that everything in the universe can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pentecostal (e.g.keener), Orthodox (e.g.Hart,Swinburne), and Anglican (e.g.Mcgrath) Christian
worldview may disagree in certain areas but they have no difficulty coming together on key points and
in fact, have much more in common than they have in opposition. A Christian worldview recognizes a
higher power that created the universe and is present in it with the capability to manipulate events as
he pleases. This worldview also allows communication with this being. There is an immortal soul in
all of use and a supernatural non physical place where it can reside with God after death. The
scriptures are seen as inspired by the creator God and are records of his influence throughout history
and thus are eye witness accounts of his ability to interact within his creation. Christianity has much to
work with in presenting the argument against Scientific Naturalism. A Christian worldview can
embrace science and use it to its advantage. Christianity gains the upper hand because it can use the
ideas of Scientific Naturalism but is not limited to strict scientific method. There can be a deeper
explanation for events that seem so impossible in a closed universe. Its downfall is that it cannot
remain strictly objective and empirical. It also cannot prove that an unexplainable event took place
due to manipulation from their creator. It could just as easily be hypothesized that the Hindu god

In Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle, an allegorical reading can be seen. The genius of Irving
shines through, in not only his representation in the story, but also in his ability to represent both sides
of the hot political issues of the day. Because it was written during the revolutionary times, Irving had
to cater to a mixed audience of Colonists and Tories. The reader s political interest, whether British or
Colonial, is mutually represented allegorically in Rip Van Winkle, depending on who is reading it.
Irving uses Rip, Dame, and his setting to relate these allegorical images on both sides. Irving would
achieve success in both England and America, in large part because his political satires had individual
allegorical meanings.
In an English interpretation, one could see Rip Van Winkle as the mother country or England. Rip is a
kind neighbor, and an obedient hen pecked husband . (430) To an English citizen reading this story, it
could easily represent the English monarchy. For years before the

Like most books in the Bible, the author of the Book of Psalms cannot be undeniably determined;
authorship of Psalms is not perfectly clear to modern biblical scholars, as the book s history is a
combined account of fact and religious tradition However, modern scholars are able to conclude that
Psalms was written over approximately nine hundred years. It is believed that from the 1400s to the
500s BCE, Jewish and Christian traditions suppose that Moses wrote the first of the Psalms, and the
latest Psalms were written by the Israelites during the Babylonian captivity (Nowell 794 797). On the

Hymns sung in churches today contain the exact wording as the Psalms. In addition to hymnals, the
discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls raised question about the date of Book of Psalms. According to
modern scholars, The earlier consensus that the book of Psalms reached its final form around the 4th
century B.C. has been challenged because of discrepancies found in scrolls at the Dead Sea,

Most teens do not like talking to their parents about sex or anything in that matter. Everyone knows
that they are going to do it anyways, so they need to have access to proper protection. This preference
can also keep down teen pregnancy. Now and days young girls end up getting pregnant because they
are scared to talk their parents about birth control. Another reason young teens should be able to
access birth control without consent is because is not just for sex. It helps with girl s periods, cramps,
acne, and more. This recommendation shows how teens can be more responsible at a younger age.On
the other hand, there are many reasons teens should not have consent to birth control underage. Today
young girls think that means a free pass. Just because they get on birth control does not mean they
cannot end up pregnant. They also must realize that there are STD s and birth control does not control
that. Teens should be definitely saving themselves for marriage or at least to where they are of age.
Some parents are religions and would be furious if they knew their underage teen was able to access

These tractors frames are left the way they are manufactured because in most cases, modifying the
machines adds weight. When too much weight is added to the machines, classes need to be dropped.
Since there are only two classes for these tractors, dropping classes would be disadvantageous. These
tractors are kept light so the driver can pull in certain classes and so the tires can be changed in
between classes.
The two most common types of tires are turf tires and lug tires. 14 HP tractors are usually pulled with
both turf and lug tires. A turf tire has surrounding rows of chevron shaped tread blocks; these provide
some traction on the track, without not digging up and damaging the turf (Lawn Tractor par. 7). Lug
tires come in many tread sizes, the grips are different widths and lengths. The lug design on these
tractor tires work to channel mud and other materials away from the tire so the material does not build
up in front of the skid (Lug Tread). Turf tires are able to pull up to 175 feet, lug tires can surpass 250
feet, if the track permits.
The 16 HPs are usually elongated for maximum pulling power; lengthening the frame helps increase
leverage. Doing so puts more weight on the back end, which increases pulling performance. These
tractors are normally pulled with Lug tires. The 16 HP tractor is generally larger than the 14 HP
tractors therefore, the machine is more difficult to move around. Changing from turf to lug tires

this power ever since. Today, the United States remains the global economic hegemonic power with a
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) almost double that of any other country, with a 2013 GDP of $16.8
trillion. Unchallenged since the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992, the

Leadership And Being A Leader
When it comes to leadership and being a leader I feel that a strong leader whom is inspiring is one
with a strong emotional intelligence. A leader who demands attention with strong emotion isn t looked
upon as a strong leader since they have intense drastic changes in mood which fear followers and
make people drift away. I feel that this is just a competencies that many overcome and turn into strong
leaders whom have made a big impact. A leader with a strong emotional effectiveness often ends up
on top since they are more capable of solving drastic complex problems and are able to adapt to
situations changing faster than someone without emotional intelligence effecting them. To see a leader
have a personal behavior competencies such as emotional intelligence strike and come out on top
when many feel a leader with emotion wouldn t be as strong is boundless since it shows that strong
leaders do have emotions and also do face personal issues which make them relatable and in my
opinion, more relatable/likeable since they can come to a level of personal experience when dealing
with employees or peers.

was the first U.S. division to be organized in the Army during World War I, the first division to deploy
overseas, and the first unit to engage the enemy in Europe as part of the American Expeditionary
Force (A.E.F.). This paper is the story of these World War I firsts. Using primary documents to include
the massive volumes of the World War Records of the First Division, A.E.F., Regular available at the
Fairchild Library, and the reminiscences of Major General Robert Lee Bullard, who initially served as
a Brigade Commander and then commanded the Division for the first American battles in France. This
paper chronicles the deployment, training in France, and major battles of the 1st Division in the Great
War. The United States entered World War I on 6 April 1917. Thus began a massive mobilization and
expansion of the United States Army with the intent to deploy enough Soldiers and Marines to the
Western Front in France to defeat the German forces and end the war. The plan was to eventually
deploy a million men organized into 42 U.S. divisions, a staggering number considering that the Army
had zero divisions in April 1917 and was comprised of only 127,588 Soldiers in

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez...
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The tone that I eventually used in One Hundred Years of Solitude was based on the way my
grandmother used to tell stories. She told things that sounded supernatural and fantastic but she told
them with complete naturalness.... What was most important was the expression she had on her face.
She did not change her expression at all when telling her stories and everyone was surprised. In
previous attempts to write, I tried to tell the story with out believing in it. I discovered what I had to do
was believe in them myself and write them with the same expression with which my grandmother told
them: with a brick face. (Garcia Marquez Magical Realism)

The author creates strange, unknown sentiments that we wouldn t normally experience in normal life.
The wonderful thing about magic realism is its reality. (Garcia Marquez Magical Realism)
Gabo s first novel came out in 1955. His most famous literary work is One Hundred Years of Solitude,
published in 1967. From that day on Gabo s fame has grown non stop. He has received many awards.
He was recognized world wide in 1982 when he was awarded the Nobel Prize.
At the conference for his award Gabo talked about a European explorer named Antonio Pigafetta. This
explorer lived during the colonization time and documented his experiences in Latin America. He
described supernatural and gross creatures. His accounts inspired Gabo.
Gabo takes events that could happen in real life and makes them appear magical. He does such a good
job of diminishing the line between reality and nonreality that the events described seem real. There
are many events that take place in One Hundred Years of Solitude that are good examples of his style
of magic realism.
An important event in the novel was the death of Jose Acardio Buendia. Then they went into Jose
Arcardio Buendia s room, shook him as hard as they could, shouted in his ear, put a mirror in front of
his nostrils, but they could not awaken him. A short time later, when the carpenter was taking
measurements for the coffin, through the

Woman at Point Zero
Firdaus sheds her last grain of virtue. In doing so, she realizes the truth of her society. Seeing what a
woman is and does in Egypt, her home, she sees the only way out of the situation. Firdaus, through her
desire to be become a human being who was not looked upon with discontent; she finds that a
successful prostitute was better than a misled saint.
Throughout her life, Firdaus had incurred the abuse that her society inflicted on women. Firstly, her
father treating her not wrongly, but the way that daughters had always been treated. At a young age,
Firdaus was forced to accept that her status in society should never surpass or equal a man, and that
she was there to help the man live more effectively. The way in which she lost the ... Show more

Her life was lived for her by this statement; she can apply it to all of her experiences men, and her
failed attempts to find love.
By modern western standards, Firdaus is a criminal. She chose to kill a man, and in doing so,
sentenced herself to death. She went to school, and therefore ought to have known the consequences
of her action. In her eyes, she was not a criminal. It was impossible for a woman to be a criminal. As
Firdaus saw it, all actions of an illegal nature undertaken by women were simply either self defense or
retribution. It was always due to a man being at fault. Firdaus claims that all men are criminals:
fathers, the uncles, the husbands, the pimps, the lawyers, the doctors, the journalists, and all men of all
professions. Yet, their own society would never label them criminals.
Firdaus s father was a simple peasant farmer. He did and acted the way that simple peasant farmers
did, always have, and always would do. If this meant trading his virgin daughter for a dowry when
there was still time, then some thing is wrong. Firdaus s uncle put her through school, which was a
rare thing for a woman to obtain such an education in Egypt. Before she had been educated, enough to
realize what was happening; however, Firdaus s uncle allowed his long thin fingers to feel there way
slowly upwards over her thighs. In any western culture, this is a punishable criminal offense. In

Homemade Education By Malcolm X Analysis
Trying to communicate, but words aren t used, writing isn t used, it s simply impossible. When
communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those
tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a
minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learning how to read and write in
prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an
author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A
Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new language opened her to all the joys and horrors
of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it
changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the
United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I
could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the
experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the
world, and society. There is a motive each person has that causes them to want to learn, experience,
and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing skills and claimed that when he tried to write
in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he] wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X

Athaulf Alternate Ending
King Athaulf scowled on his throne. There was still no sign of where Harktown could be. This was the
only reason that vermin village was still in working order. The village was never where it was, they ve
been a thorn in his side for longer than he could remember. His adviser snapped him back into reality.
Your Highness! Your soldiers have brought in some more travelers. Are they to be searched? His
adviser asked. Athaulf waved his hand. I suppose, but no amount of jewels will brighten my mood, He
said grumpily. When his crown fell down on his nose again, he screamed in fright. I want the
blacksmith who enlarged my crown too much to be put in prison on charge of treason. I want him

Said they were gold merchants, your Highness. The soldier said. Athaulf s mood increased slightly
despite what he said earlier. Take fifty percent as usual for the fee of crossing my lands and give them
a stay at a nice inn, free lunch, dinner and breakfast, He said. A furry creature with a long snout,
pricked up ears and was standing on two feet growled. Oh what is it now, Argyros?! King Athaulf
complained. Argyros the wolf did not look or answer, he just stared at the far wall and continued his
low growl. Suddenly, King Athaulf thought of an idea, he touched his ring which held a midnight blue
pearl and spoke to Argyros. Go and Track down the Lion s pearl. Kill its holder once you have it,
come to me and we can lay waste on Harktown. King Athaulf smiled the thin, snakey smile a
storybook villain would do if they were in his position. Argyros spoke. Yes... Master. His voice was
deep and hoarse, but not at all sinister. Argyros stepped from the side of the throne and howled, the
howl was clear and ghost like, it rumbled Athaulf s chest and he saw all the uneasy faces of his
soldiers. After he finished Athaulf heard other howls off in the distance. Most likely Argyros

Pugin advocated for pointed or Christian architecture (as Pugin called then what is now referred to as
Gothic style; Richardson, McKellar, Woods, 2008, p. 113) aimed to reach up to heaven, symbolising

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Essays
Describe: (i) how induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are isolated (ii) how iPSCs can be used to
study human development (iii) how iPSCs can be used to model human disease and to develop
therapies for degenerative disease i) iPSCs are adult stem cells that have been genetically
reprogrammed to behave like the pluripotent stem cells found in embryos, i.e. can differentiate into
any cell type in the human body. This was first completed successfully in mice in 2006 by Shinya
Yamanaka and his team (Takahashi et al., 2006), then in humans in 2007 both by Yamanaka
(Takahashi et al., 2007), and by James Thomson and his team in America independently (Yu, et al.,
2007). Yamanaka and Thomson s methods were similar. In the report by Yu et ... Show more content

964 965). ii) Human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) are pluripotent cells isolated from blastocysts, and
are highly useful in studying human development (Itzkovitz Eldor et al., 2000 p. 88). Although the
National Institute of Health states that it is not known if iPSCs and embryonic stem cells differ in
clinically significant ways , iPSCs are already being used to achieve the same results as ESCs in some
applications without the use of embryos, removing the ethical concern associated with ESCs (National
Institutes of Health, 2009). ESCs are capable of differentiating into all cell types, and can be used as a
source of differentiated cells. In the report by Itskovitz Eldor et al., they discuss the induced
differentiation of ESCs in suspension into embryoid bodies, including the three embryonic germ
layers. The authors state that the ability to induce formation of human embryoid bodies that contain
cells of neuronal, hematopoietic and cardiac origins will be useful in studying early human embryonic
development (Itzkovitz Eldor et al., 2000 p. 88). This is invaluable in terms of studying the early
stages of human foetal development. As iPSCs are better understood, and the methods of generating
them are refined, they have the potential to play an increasingly integral role in our study of human
development, in place of ESCs. In the report by Itzkovitz Eldor et al. it is noted that the ability

Many people do not choose to continue their education and attend college. My goal is to not be a part of this statistic. After I graduate from Wayne Early Middle College High School with my high school diploma and my two year Associate in Science degree, I hope to transfer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. According to newly released facts by the Business Journal, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington was ranked as one of the top 50 business schools in the nation. This influences my desire to attend even more as I plan to major in business administration. People have different reasons for choosing their majors in college. I want ... UNC W is centered in one of the largest cities in North Carolina. Within just a few miles, there is access to the beach and there is access to a flourishing city. Wilmington is also known for its breathtaking landscape. Being only an hour and a half from Goldsboro, I can quickly get home if needed. The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is known for its size, for the price reasonability, and for the Cameron School of Business. Upon acceptance to UNC W, I plan to attend the Cameron School of Business. In this area, you can specialize in different aspects such as accounting, marketing, and human resource. The Cameron School of Business also has contact to an organization called the Cameron Executive Network. This is a program where retired and current senior executives mentor students in the business school. The size of UNC W is very reasonable. The connection between the two religions has influenced many people over time. It can also be said that when the principles of both philosophies are put together, the outcome is a well rounded person. The following is a discussion of the principles and philosophies behind these two religions as well as how the two religions interact and connect to influence an individual. Sam Patch Essay Jonathan Kroger History 2111 April 22, 2010 Sam Patch s Leap into the Great Divide Some things can be done as well as others , the famous line of Sam Patch became a well known saying amongst U.S. citizens especially Jeffersonian and Jacksonian democrats (Johnson, 163). Sam Patch was many things in his lifetime from a famous falls jumper to a destitute mill worker to also the first American born boss spinner. He however was viewed different amongst social groups in America. The middle class viewed themselves as respectables and the wage earning class was inferior to them, which is evident in the celebration ceremonies in Paterson on the Fourth of July. Celebrations started off with a parade, banquet, and fireworks where all Patersonians were welcome to participate, but gradually transitioned to a more exclusive celebration of a large group of respectable Young Men where toasts weren t based on patriotism anymore yet based on entrepreneurial progress (Johnson, 65). Sam Patch s celebrity and life not only showed growing social and political differences, but it showed the increasing gap that was growing between the wage earning and middle class as a result of the market revolution. The wage earning class was the debtors, debtors who owed money and had to work to make a living for creditors, most of whom made up what would be known as the middle class. These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation. Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car, from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to be legally bound. Socrates developed a system of critical reasoning in order to determine how to live properly and tell the difference between right and wrong. Aristotle was one of his followers along with Plato and they made a commitment to the truth, and organized and systematized most of the problems of philosophy. He is one of the most important figures in Western Philosophy and was the first person to create a comprehensive system of philosophy. Aristotle was born to an aristocratic family in Stagira. His father was the personal physician to King Amyntas of Macedon. Aristotle was trained and educated as a member of the aristocracy. At age 10, Aristotle s father died (which meant that he could not follow his father s profession as a doctor anymore) and his mother also died young, so, he was taken under the care of a man named Proxenus. At age 18, he moved to Athens to complete his education at Plato s famous Academy. Aristotle remained there for nearly twenty years, first as a student and then as a teacher, until after Plato s death in 347 B.C.. He left the academy because he wasn t chosen to be head of the academy since his ideas diverged far from Plato s. Iran And The Iranian Nuclear Weapons Program The summer of 2015 marked a significant event in history the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, Germany, and Iran were able to come to an agreement about restricting Iran s nuclear programs. The capability of Iran to pursue a nuclear weapon scared the international community, and this deal brought some peace to the political scene. For Iran, a nuclear weapon represented legitimacy and leverage over the major powers of the world, so it is interesting that Iran willingly blocked its avenue to achieve this bargaining chip. In return, the United States and other nations agreed to lift some sanctions on Iran, unfreeze its assets, and allow Iran to enter the international oil market. On January 16, 2016, the International Atomic Energy Agency officially declared, Iran has curbed its nuclear program enough to begin receiving relief on sanctions (Kennedy 2016). This statement alone demonstrates that the nuclear deal reduced the risk of a nuclear Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency has historically expressed great concerns about Iran s overt and clandestine nuclear operations. The nuclear deal with Iran granted the International Atomic Energy Agency to have the ability to do strict inspections on Iran, which Iran has avoided in the past, so the declaration of Iran s fulfillment of international standards shows the efficacy and the durability of the agreement. The major critics of the nuclear deal cite Iran s track record of long term deviation from previous agreements and resolutions and argue Iran will renege on its promises. This argument is legitimate because Iran has numerous violations across decades. While overt racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. A world without prejudice would be a much more effective world with more time spent on making life better for all instead of violence and hate. Government officials and psychologists are trying to advertise how being in contact with other ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. It included 24 calotype prints, each one was pasted in by hand These helped illustrate some of the possible applications for his new process. Thus suggesting that a fast acting protein such as whey is a more appropriate protein source than casein when examining muscular adaptations in regard to supplementation. Protein and Leucine There are 20 specific amino acids that are utilized to build proteins utilized in tissue formation, cellular function, and growth (P. J. Atherton Smith, 2012; Fluck, 2012; Wu, 2009). Of these 20 there are essential (EAA) and non essential (NEAA) based amino acids, those unable to be synthesized and those able to be synthesized within the body respectively. Due to EAA s needing to be introduced via diet, any decreased consumption of these amino acids would impair the body s ability to properly translate any cellular proteins (Fluck, 2012). Any increase in plasma or myocellular amino acids above fasting levels promotes, while transient, an increase in protein synthesis, and reaches its peak roughly 2 hours following ingestion which allows for muscle to be receptive to the anabolic effects of protein (Pasiakos M., 2012). The ability for a protein to aid in muscle mass accretion is largely based on its profile of EAAs. Animal based proteins are considered complete proteins as they contain all EAAs, while plant based proteins lack certain EAAs making them incomplete. The Caribbean plate is roughly 3000 km from east to west, and 800 Km from North to South and 2.64 million Km^2 area (James, Lorente, Pindell, 2009). There are four marine areas present such as the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan basin, and the Cayman trough, which are within the surrounding of the Caribbean plate and its islands. The Cocos Plate, North American Plate, Nazca Plate and the South American Plate surround the Caribbean plate (Figure 1) (HARGRAVES, 1984). Film Triumph Of The Will Taylor Singh 20519205 Assignment 1 The Perceptible Propaganda in the film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens) JS 233: The Holocaust and Film Prof. James Diamond Monday, February 2nd, 2015 The film Triumph of the Will was created in 1934 after Hitler was named Fuhrer of Germany. At the time, Hitler was eager to improve the public image of the NSDP (National Socialist German Workers Party). After his election as chancellor in Early January 1933, Hitler gave Leni Riefenstahl the job of filming the annual NSDAP conference in Nuremberg, Germany . Riefenstahl accepted the offer and agreed document, direct and edit the Conference. As years pasted, the infamous documentary began to be speculated as possible Nazi Propaganda. Although presumptions began to arise, Riefenstahl stated that Triumph of the Will was clearly a factual documentary and stated: Not a single scene is staged...It is history, pure history and that she simply filmed what she saw. Susan Sontag s response in her dissertation Fascinating Fascism concluded that the film is fascist propaganda promoting Nazi ideology but itself is not a about fascism . Sontag was right to the title the film was fascist due to Riefenstahl s extreme forthright about her infatuation with Hitler. In an interview with Detroit news Riefenstahl stated: To me Hitler is the greatest man who ever lived. He is really faultless, so simple yet so filled with ,manly power... He is really beautiful, ... It may not be much, but I just thought I d share my story and my dreams simply because I enjoy doing so. It all started in eighth grade, I was 15. I never had any experience with sports whatsoever except for basketball earlier that year, and honestly had no idea what I was doing. I felt I had no physical ability and had low self esteem when it came to my athletic ability. I was 4 6 and still managed to get on picked for the team for basketball, though probably being one of the shortest people in the group. Basketball has been a sport I ve always liked, and realizing how hard it really was to actually play was a hard pill for me to swallow. During the period of the season, I spent the time in basketball off season to practice on what needed to know and what can help me during next season. After the basketball season ended, our head coach called us all to the gym, and began telling us it was time for a new sport; Track and Field. she told us it was for the best of the best. We went outside and got all of our times. Being inexperienced, I was wearing casual high top reeboks that were extremely heavy. I did well. The next day, my friend encouraged me to try some old shoes she had, emphasizing how light they were. The time we needed to make to be considered for the team was 15 seconds on the 100m (keep ... In 1800 the population of the United States included 893,602 slaves, of which only 36,505 were in the northern states. Vermont, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey provided for the emancipation of their slaves before 1804, most of them by gradual measures. If at one time slavery had been common in much of the Americas, by the middle of the 19th century it remained only in Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the southern United States. In an era that celebrated liberty and equality, the slaveholding Southern states appeared backward and repressive. This drew most Northerner s into the abolitionist movement not so much for the behalf of slaves, but how slavery made the United States look. Despite this, the slave economy grew rapidly, enriched by the spectacular increase in cotton cultivation to meet the growing demand of Northern and European textile manufacturers. Southern economic growth, however, was based largely on cultivating more land. The South did not undergo the industrial revolution that was beginning to transform the North; the South remained almost entirely rural. In 1860 there were only five Southern cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants (only one of which, New Orleans, was in the Deep South); less than 10 percent of Southerners lived in towns of at least 2500 people, compared to more than 25 percent of Northerners. The South also increasingly lagged in other indications of modernization, from railroad construction to literacy and public education. For these reasons, many Southerners felt that slavery was all too necessary because their agrarian economy was based around it. Many feared that the abolition of slavery would result in a Southern economic collapse. The biggest gap between North and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These worldviews are incredibly opposite, but there may be areas that the two opposing sides could meet on. Both views have valid ideas to contribute to the argument. We strengthen our beliefs through ideological conflict with others. Both view points are strengthened when compared to each other rather than presented separately with no alternative view to oppose it. A Christian worldview recognizes a higher power that created the universe and is present in it with the capability to manipulate events as he pleases. This worldview also allows communication with this being. There is an immortal soul in all of use and a supernatural non physical place where it can reside with God after death. The scriptures are seen as inspired by the creator God and are records of his influence throughout history and thus are eye witness accounts of his ability to interact within his creation. Christianity has much to work with in presenting the argument against Scientific Naturalism. A Christian worldview can embrace science and use it to its advantage. Christianity gains the upper hand because it can use the ideas of Scientific Naturalism but is not limited to strict scientific method. There can be a deeper explanation for events that seem so impossible in a closed universe. Its downfall is that it cannot remain strictly objective and empirical. When too much weight is added to the machines, classes need to be dropped. Since there are only two classes for these tractors, dropping classes would be disadvantageous. These tractors are kept light so the driver can pull in certain classes and so the tires can be changed in between classes. The two most common types of tires are turf tires and lug tires. 14 HP tractors are usually pulled with both turf and lug tires. A turf tire has surrounding rows of chevron shaped tread blocks; these provide some traction on the track, without not digging up and damaging the turf (Lawn Tractor par. 7). Lug tires come in many tread sizes, the grips are different widths and lengths. The lug design on these tractor tires work to channel mud and other materials away from the tire so the material does not build up in front of the skid (Lug Tread). Turf tires are able to pull up to 175 feet, lug tires can surpass 250 feet, if the track permits. The 16 HPs are usually elongated for maximum pulling power; lengthening the frame helps increase leverage. Doing so puts more weight on the back end, which increases pulling performance. These tractors are normally pulled with Lug tires. The 16 HP tractor is generally larger than the 14 HP tractors therefore, the machine is more difficult to move around. When communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learning how to read and write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new language opened her to all the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the world, and society. There is a motive each person has that causes them to want to learn, experience, and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing skills and claimed that when he tried to write in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he] wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X learned and ... • 43. Athaulf Alternate Ending King Athaulf scowled on his throne. There was still no sign of where Harktown could be. This was the only reason that vermin village was still in working order. The village was never where it was, they ve been a thorn in his side for longer than he could remember. His adviser snapped him back into reality. Your Highness! Your soldiers have brought in some more travelers. Are they to be searched? His adviser asked. Athaulf waved his hand. I suppose, but no amount of jewels will brighten my mood, He said grumpily. When his crown fell down on his nose again, he screamed in fright. I want the blacksmith who enlarged my crown too much to be put in prison on charge of treason. I want him whipped thrice a day for a fortnight. Change the sentence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Said they were gold merchants, your Highness. The soldier said. Athaulf s mood increased slightly despite what he said earlier. Take fifty percent as usual for the fee of crossing my lands and give them a stay at a nice inn, free lunch, dinner and breakfast, He said. A furry creature with a long snout, pricked up ears and was standing on two feet growled. Oh what is it now, Argyros?! King Athaulf complained. Argyros the wolf did not look or answer, he just stared at the far wall and continued his low growl. Suddenly, King Athaulf thought of an idea, he touched his ring which held a midnight blue pearl and spoke to Argyros. Go and Track down the Lion s pearl. Kill its holder once you have it, come to me and we can lay waste on Harktown. King Athaulf smiled the thin, snakey smile a storybook villain would do if they were in his position. Argyros spoke. Yes... Master. His voice was deep and hoarse, but not at all sinister. Argyros stepped from the side of the throne and howled, the howl was clear and ghost like, it rumbled Athaulf s chest and he saw all the uneasy faces of his soldiers. After he finished Athaulf heard other howls off in the distance. Most likely Argyros ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Essays Describe: (i) how induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are isolated (ii) how iPSCs can be used to study human development (iii) how iPSCs can be used to model human disease and to develop therapies for degenerative disease i) iPSCs are adult stem cells that have been genetically reprogrammed to behave like the pluripotent stem cells found in embryos, i.e. can differentiate into any cell type in the human body. This was first completed successfully in mice in 2006 by Shinya Yamanaka and his team (Takahashi et al., 2006), then in humans in 2007 both by Yamanaka (Takahashi et al., 2007), and by James Thomson and his team in America independently (Yu, et al., 2007). Although the National Institute of Health states that it is not known if iPSCs and embryonic stem cells differ in clinically significant ways , iPSCs are already being used to achieve the same results as ESCs in some applications without the use of embryos, removing the ethical concern associated with ESCs (National Institutes of Health, 2009). ESCs are capable of differentiating into all cell types, and can be used as a source of differentiated cells. In the report by Itskovitz Eldor et al., they discuss the induced differentiation of ESCs in suspension into embryoid bodies, including the three embryonic germ layers. The authors state that the ability to induce formation of human embryoid bodies that contain cells of neuronal, hematopoietic and cardiac origins will be useful in studying early human embryonic development (Itzkovitz Eldor et al., 2000 p. 88). This is invaluable in terms of studying the early stages of human foetal development. As iPSCs are better understood, and the methods of generating them are refined, they have the potential to play an increasingly integral role in our study of human development, in place of ESCs. In the report by Itzkovitz Eldor et al. it is noted that the ability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
