Who I Am Essay
When I look in the mirror I know whom I am, but society makes it difficult to understand who I
am, because I was born to immigrants of Nigerian descent, and I am a first generation American,
that term is sometimes used so loosely. By looking at my name they assume that I am from some
island, but I am so quick to tell them that I am Nigerian , there is another statement that normally
follows this. You do not have an accent . I wonder if I had an accent would I be considered
Nigerian and not American; then I say that My parents are Nigerian and then that changes, so to
them I am just associated with the Nigerian culture it does not make me Nigerian, there has been

I currently enjoy shocking people with my heritage because there is still a stigma about what a

didn t talk much, my family could do little to support me because they didn t know I was having
issues (A. Benjamin, personal communication, Dec 1, 2009). This is saying that if you do not
walk, talk, or think like them; then you are not considered to be of that ethnicity. Everyday I am
on a constant race to discover who I am as an individual. I am fighting this battle whether I

Use Of Technology And Its Effects On The World
Throughout history, intellectual thinkers have guided the development of society through
innovative inventions that changed the world drastically. One such invention that changed the way
others communicated was the first telephone, created and revolutionized by Alexander Graham
Bell. This invention harbored in a new period of time with increased numbers of technology. Since
then, technology has expanded into television, computers, and other electronics that many rely on
in order to function on a daily basis. People of all ages and backgrounds use technology
consistently, including children and those from Generation Y of the 80 s and 90 s when electronic
use became more frequent (Zhitomirsky Geffett Blau, 2016). Many have debated the effects of
allowing children to use technology, but it is believed that there are both positive and negative
effects. Childhooddevelopment is influenced by technology because it affects health, learning,
social relationships, and sleep patterns. One process that is involved with child learning is the
ability to plan. From infancy, children use planning to learn through basic abilities, such us learning
how to walk, understanding schedules of feeding and sleeping, forming visual representations, and
organizing speech patterns. For example, an infant learns or plans to walk because it is a goal
oriented behavior. The infant sees something that he or she wants, determines how he will get it,
and decides to orient his actions towards receiving

Explain Plato s Arguments Against Art In The Book X Of The...
Explain and discuss Plato s arguments against art in book X of the republic.
The aim of this essay is to evaluate Plato s argument for and against Art. I will be looking at a few
things. First of all, the importance of education within Plato s society and how he believes that the
influence of art creates division and thus imbalance within us and therefore within society.
Additionally, I will also examine how Plato says art is thrice removed from reality. To him this is
dangerous as the final product is just a shadow of the actual original idea. Finally is will look at
Plato s positive belief in Art, and how it connects us with the divine world, and allows us to
perceive beauty.
At around 420 BCE, when Plato was born, education was one of the most important things in the
Greek society. They considered a harmonious city to only be achievable if its citizens were
harmonious too. Harmony within creates harmony outside. Plato believed that the soul was divided
into three parts; desire, spirit and reason. Desire, the lowest part of the soul, is constantly affected
by appetitive drive and instinct. Reason, the highest part of the soul, is ... Show more content on

Through art, he says, we can see with eyes of the soul , whereas in real life, we can only see with
our eyes of mud . Plato is trying to explain that in life beauty is hard to be found, if it can even be
found at all. On Earth there is no light of justice. All we see is struggle, devastation and ugliness.
This is just what Schopenhauer says; because humanity wants a purpose for itself, we will always
strive for more. For this reason we never feel complete happiness nor satisfaction. Only when we
can eliminate our self interest and the utility of everything around us, then we can find satisfaction.

Compare And Contrast The French Revolution And The...
There are many similarities and differences when comparing revolutions. Most of these revolutions
fall in around the same time and some had the same causes/goals. The American, French, and
Haitian revolutions all took place in a span of less than 100 years. While these revolutions have
much if common, they also have differences in the effect of these wars. The American revolution
started in 1770 when conflict of the citizens and English broke out. Civilians opposed the English
law and they believed that the taxes imposed were unfair to the people. These disagreements led
many citizens to revolt leading to the protests in Boston and the Boston Tea Party. Many people in
the colonies dumped crates of tea into the water to prove a point that these laws and taxes were
unfair. Their goals were to have unity throughout the colonies and to be free from English law.
After the French and Indian war, the residents knew they had to do something about these
problems. After this war, the Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonies were officially free from
England. Since the English no longer have rule over them, they had to find a new form of
government. This was the beginning of the Articles of Confederation. Which then after influenced
the U.S Constitution.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same year was the start of the French revolution. The causes of this war were very comparable
to the American revolution, such as disapproval of tax systems and laws, as well as to be free
from the poor leadership of their monarchy. The french though, were suffering from a decrease in
crop production and a poor economy. This revolution lasted 26 years, as a result of this long
running battle, the French started a democracy. This democracy and conflict also led to the rise of

central control and the use of the people to promote Qin, so they focused on huge construction

infrastructures. Their large scale construction projects helped to flourish later. The Qin court gained
control and established the Qin family. King Cheng called himself Qin Shi Huangdi and that means
the first emperor of Qin. In order to strengthen their empire, the priority of authority and
standardization of the different peoples they conquered was one of their priorities

various topics from paranormal phenomena, to myths, monsters and witchcraft. For most of my life,
spirituality was a very similar elusive quest.
I was raised in religion. Catholicism. Its impact may not have meant much at the time but as my
life transpired, I realized the great significance of these beginnings. My mother who was raised

How Henrietta s Cells Were Recovered, And Stored
I begin writing this essay about Henrietta Lacks by discussing option number three outlined in
this project. Before this class had begun, I could not tell you how or why such vaccines came to
be. I can almost relate to the author in the beginning of the book when she is in her college
biology course and has no idea who Henrietta Lacksis. This book outlines so many big topic
issues, and I feel they all play a role in how Henrietta s cells were recovered, and stored. From my
own personal viewpoint, I feel one of the biggest issues for myself personally, is the bioethics of it
all. Working in healthcare and living in this generation, money, is a monumental factor that defines
just about everything. Money, defines how we test drugs, why... Show more content on

Would she have still if it would not profit her, or her family, but so many others around the world
who are sick? Another factor that played a significant role in Henrietta s life was a combination of
not only poverty, but racism too. The book calls into question the name Henrietta Lacks. We are
officially introduced to Henrietta as Loretta Pleasant. Henrietta, or also known as Loretta, grew up
with eight other siblings, and an abusive father. (Biogrophy.com) Henrietta spent most of her youth
living with her grandfather and future husband. During this time in history, Henrietta along with
other African Americans, were subjected to segregation. Her life was far from easy, she grew up as
many African Americanchildren did during those times, working in the tobacco fields. It seems
to me that this woman had a tremendously hard life. She endured: her mother s death, being
divided from her family, segregation, child labor working in the tobacco fields, a philandering
husband, and cancer to name just a few things. I honestly cannot begin to imagine this lifestyle
much less cancer. What stands out to me about her is that I portray her to be this strong, resilient
woman. I say this because she refuses treatment for her STDs, goes on sleeping with her husband
bearing him children , and most of all, she was a God fearing woman. I can only begin to imagine
during this time in history being a woman, much less an African American woman, had its struggles

Erick Erikson s Stages Of Psychosocial Development
Society plays an important role in the development and formation of individual s identity, the social

Kim is based on the India that Kipling experiences during his five years of working there as a
newspaper reporter. His residence near the primary British Army base in Northwest
India....enhanced his already intense admiration for the martial life (Matin 359). Events in the
novel are manipulated to formulate Kipling s dream of dominated India. Being a product of his
time, Kipling believes that the British empire has an obligation to bring enlightenment to inferior
races and underdeveloped countries. His idea of the best way to rule the native India is
expressed by creating Kim who is born in the country, resulting in Kim s appreciation and favor
of the Indian culture. Kipling constructs the native India consists of salvage people who are
waiting to be civilized by British and limited by their races no matter how much they contribute
to the imperialist system. He has people positively speak on empire s behalf and recognize the
work of British men. Moreover, all the characters exist in the story to help Kim going on the
right track to become an imperialist boy and rise above everyone else. Kim s ultimate choice of
British empire s interest over his loved lama and his being blessed for doing so successfully deliver
Kipling s imperialism message.
The White man s Burden edifies readers who are not familiar to Kipling s imperialistic ideology.

Persuasive Essay Against Gun Control
Currently gun control has been amidst one of the most thought of debates not only in recent times,
but also in prior occasions. The mass shootings occurring more often lately have fueled the
altercation pertaining to one subject, gun control. Gun control may have many different meanings,
or descriptions varying from person to person. One may think that guncontrol is banning guns all
together, banning a certain category of weapons, or banning certain items like high capacity
magazines, and flash suppressors. All of these would be forms of gun control, but the true meaning
of gun control, as stated by an online article What Gun Control Could Look Like, Gun control
would allow citizens in the United States to still purchase firearms, but there would be reasonable
regulations on firearms (Greenblat). This statement introduces the idea that gun control would not
be banning guns, but banning items that are unnecessary for civilians to have possession of.
Banning all guns cannot happen because it would be infringing upon the second amendment, the
right to bear arms. The second amendment cannot be changed or challenged, but perimeters may be
set to keep guns and people s capabilities with them limited. A firearmin the hands of a criminal or
someone with bad intentions is not good, but it can be prevented. Gun control needs to happen,
or mass shootings and high rates of violence will continue to occur in society. Guns have
contributed to a very large amount of deaths in the United States. Suicides, homicides, and mass
killings all occur, and guns are the most used weapon in all of these cases. Guns are responsible
for one point three percent of all deaths in the United States between the years 1999, and 2013.
This made guns the twelfth leading cause of all deaths between these years (procon.org). In the
United States roughly 30,000 suicides are committed every year (harvard.edu). Most of these could
be prevented but the easy access to dangerous weapons such as guns plays a large role in whether
or not the person attempting suicidesucceeds in taking their life or not. Every day there are as
many as ninety three people that die from guns. Fifty eight of the deaths, or two thirds, are people
who commit suicide with

Huey P. Long s Speech
Huey P. Long s speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor,
however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People
appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana
because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda.
Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a
democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the
country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana s economy a huge lift with
the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had
anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time
has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially
regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly
associated with the state since Huey Longs assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long
executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was
for the state.
For instance, in Huey P Long s speech directed towards the entirety of the United State s population
vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that

Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has gained considerable notice in recent years since the
Global War on Terrorism. High percentages of service members surviving combat related injuries
are now battling the long lasting effects and associated medical morbidities of brain trauma.

Dream Argument In Groundhog Night
Are individuals actually experiencing the external world, or could it be that they are in a deep
state of permanent sleep. Are you the reader, as you read these words positive that you are wide

This Philosophical question was presented in Descartes first meditation where he introduced
dreams that get individuals to confuse both dreaming and waking state. Descartes explains in his

My idea was to do a handbook based on the theme of Love. I used Sonya and Dunya as the subjects

each girl learned in the book. Underneath Dunya and Sonya s rules, I placed an excerpt showing

The Pros And Cons Of Quantum Leap
According to Asbhy (1999), revitalizaton defined as the change that implements in Quantum Leap,
that is a big leap that is not only including gradation or incremental, but straight to the target which
much different from the initial condition. In this case, revitalization on the traditional market means
to reactivate the traditional marketwhich once was vital, but experience degredation. It can be a
slum traditional market with low infrastructureto modern market, or displacement to a better
location. The reactivation should be in a big scale such as renovationg thoroughly to improve every
aspect from the market itself.
In revitalization, there are 3 stages:
1.Physical Intervention
This aspect is where phisycal aspect needs to be renovated because it is accordance to the public
interest and can effect the consumers satisfaction. By renovating or rebuilding an old and broken

Grice s maxims was written in 1975 and created by Paul Grice about how follow the conversation
maxims. The linguist Paul Grice presented these maxims in depth and give us four maxims.
The cooperative principle is generally about cooperative with one another when two people want to

If we violate the maxim of quality, we lie. If we violate the maxim of quantity by not giving enough

relation between conventional and an implicit meaning. Speakers can interact in many utterances,
but the hearer gather the utters. Cooperative principle attempts to make the utterances more
difficult rather easier and can delete information.
The CP is concerned with being helpful, avoiding miscommunication particularly in speaking.
Many problems in interpretation between Grice s use of the term cooperation with a technical
meaning, and meaning of the word ,because dialogue may be right or wrong termed as being

reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches
(Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the
automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered
engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other
ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that
were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler Mercedes merged to
become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many
companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the industry,
especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again. The cars of Mercedes
were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well
(Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed
as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. The
station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s wider appeal led to demand
for a more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011).
The station wagon was designed as a working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick
up truck was unveiled by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most

Valentine And Coincide In Ender s Game
Sigmund Freud is often referred to as the father of psychoanalysis; he was the first to ask and
pursue several groundbreaking questions. However, despite any proclaimed parentage, the field has
proceeded through multiple generations since the death of Freud himself, and the once influential
name has now become a chapter in a psychology textbook, a stepping stone on the way to the
names that are important now. True enough, certain speculations on Freud s part the Oedipus

through a modern lens. Freud is often discarded because of this, especially in professional settings,
but Freud s conjectures being false, does not mean they were not meaningful.

While the distance separates them, the specific dynamics of their relationship fade into the

of the novel, Valentine takes it into her own hands to ensure that Ender never returns to earth,
knowing that Peter, now gaining power in politics, would use and manipulate his famous younger
brother to give himself further sway. This remains true because the id... does not change with
time which has also proven true for Peter in other instances (McLeod). With Ender gone, the
Wiggin family moves away, much to Valentine s chagrin. She wonders how Ender is meant to
come home, to find them, when home is no longer where it once was. Simultaneously, Valentine
knows exactly why the family has moved: It was for Peter, so that living among trees and small
animals, so that nature, in as raw a form as Mother and Father could conceive of it, might have a
softening influence on their strange and frightening son (Card 151). The Wiggin parents had hoped
that the calm serenity of nature might find root in Peter, and as far as they are concerned, it did.
Upon moving, Peter seems better than before. He does well in school; he does not torment his
classmates.

Equifax Data Breach Analysis
An analysis of the Equifax data breach Introduction A recent increase in large scale data breaches

Lead The Way
People Lead the Way VRIO stands for value, rarity, imitability and organization. It represents a
strategic tool to assist with evaluating a company s internal resources and capabilities as a way to
provide a competitive advantage (Jurevicius, 2013). This tool can provide insight into the critical
nature an organization assumes with identifying, sourcing and attracting new leadership. Leaders
drive organizations, set the tone, establish culture and are ultimately accountable for organizational
performance. People lead the way to successful operations. Without the right people a business is
just walls and capital equipment incapable of generating value. People are the brains of an

importance of putting the right person in the right position can prove a daunting task. Every person

Moving To Another Country Essay
Have you ever thought about moving your whole family to another country? If you did so, what
are the reasons to do that? We chose to move because in our country they have crisis, they are too
poor, they have worse education and a lot of reasons that we cannot tell. After moving to another
country, we might see a lot of differences between our old country and the new country. I and my
family moved from Ho Chi Minh Cityin Vietnam to Minnesota because we believe that I and my
brother will have better education, better chance for a bright future. Since we moved here, I have
seen a lot of differences between two of them and the most significant differences are the university
life, the size and the weather.
First is the university life. In Minnesota we can pick any subject that we feel interested in and
have a lot of activities to do with the university community. We also spend less time at school
and more time at home for homework, chores and family responsibilities. In Minnesota, the
college and university help us a lot preparing for our future, and the tuition fees are paid thanks
to the Financial Aid for citizens. But Ho Chi Minh City on the contrary, there, we do not have
choices for our subjects, we have to pick our major as soon as we roll up for an university or a
college and then we have to study the subjects they gave us without any choice. In Ho Chi Minh
City, we also have to spend a lot of time at school for almost entire day, five to six days a week and

This service user must also not be discriminated in spite of the condition. she has rights and

that everyone has the right to be treated fairly regardless of gender, race, religion, sex, age,
political views, disability or anything else (Ministry of Justice, 2008). But if the care provider
doesn t know how to respect these rights, then he/she is likely to abuse the client. 1.2There are
other risk factors that may lead to incidence of abuse or harm to self and others. Lack of
appropriate training and supervision can put not only the client at risk for physical injury but
the carer as well. As for Mrs. M, she needs careful moving and handling method and appropriate
equipment to avoid non accidental use of force in turning her. Moreover, lack of staffs and poor
working conditions can put the carer and client at risk for abuse as well. Mrs. M being attended
by only one carer is not a good practice and must not accepted in the home and tolerated by the
service user. This is always the norm in most care home who do not have enough resources
especially staff due to lack of funds of qualified staff . Assessing and reviewing the risk involved
in moving and handling the service user it is recommended that the service user will need two
staffs to assist her in feeding and moving, otherwise she will be left hurting and bruised from rough
handling and risk of fall.

Healing Emotional Trauma Research Paper
Healing emotional trauma
Emotional wounds are as real as physical bleeding wounds, and can affect every aspect of your life.
You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable
and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or
sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional
abuse.
PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic
stress. Although most people associate these conditions with extreme life threatening situations, not
everyone with a form of traumatic stress has been through such dangerous events.
Even though the emotional trauma seems to be a highly individual experience, trans generational
PTSD like or hereditary trauma and behavioral patterns may be transmitted across generations
through the process of parental epigenetic programming. Thus, traumatic experiences can be passed
down from generation to generation, such that children 6 years and younger may suffer from
preschool PTSD and display similar behavioral issues as their parents, or their ancestors. In a similar
way, complex tragenerational transmitted information helps the fourth generation of Monarch
butterfly descendants find theyr way and return to exactly the same wintering sites as their grand
grandparent left the winter before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Musical Theatre Research Paper
A musical theatre production generally consists of drama, music, songs, and dancing. These aspects
are what make musical theatre one of the most favored type of drama production.
The difference between a play and a musical play is obviously the input of music and how the story
is told. In plays, the emotions and actions are showcased through words and movement, but in
musical theatre, the content can be expressed through dialogue as well as music and dancing.
Musical theatre has quite an extensive history. They can be dated back to ancient Greece, around
the 5th century BCE. However, the most noteworthy period of time, The Golden Age, for
musicals was during the 1940s to the 1960s. Since this was the period right after the economic
recession, when The American Dream was coveted, many musicals wrapped their ideas and
themes based on it. During this Golden Age time period, hits from Rodgers and Hammerstein
such as The Sound of Music and The King and I were produced. These pieces are still widely
spoken of today. There were many focuses that the plays were formulated on during specific
periods. For example, during the early 1900s, musicals were often light and humorous, since this

One of the oldest forms is known as Opera and Operetta. However, they are not commonly known
as musicals. It does fit into the definition of musical theatre though, since they do combine music,

the song than through dialogue. So, there is less talking and more singing. Operettas are more
alike to musicals. They are considered light operas with acting. Operettas usually have a less
serious message, and go for a humorous approach. They also have more talking than Operas, but
not as much as usual musicals. Since there is more singing than talking, characters in Operas and

The Mortality Rate Of Ovarian Cancer
Ovaries are a pair of female sex organs that store and release eggs in the process of the
reproductive system. Ovarian cancer is located in the ovaries where uncontrollable multiplication
of cancer cells occur (Garnick, 2014). Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death in
women in the United States (Su, 2013). There are over 200,000 new cases each year worldwide
and it is common in women over the age of 60 (Brain, 2014). The high mortality rate of ovarian
canceris caused by the lack of a screening techniques to detect it early on (Visintin et al, 2008).

Stromal ovarian cancer consist of 5 to 8 percent of ovarian cancer cases. This type of ovarian
cancer arise from supporting tissues within the ovary itself (Green, 2013).
During the early stages, symptoms are hard to determine because they can be categorized as
symptoms that are common among women for other reasons besides ovarian cancer. The early
stages have the following symptoms: bloating, feeling the need to urinate urgently, trouble eating,
feeling full quickly, fatigue, abdominal pain, upset stomach, back pain, pain during sex,
constipation, heartburn, or menstrual changes (Society of Gynecologic Oncology, 2013). Up to 95%
of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer before it has spread beyond the ovaries will survive
longer than 5 years (Simon, 2012). Transvaginal ultrasound have been found to be not helpful
when trying to identify early stage ovarian cancer in women with a high risk of being diagnosed
with ovarian cancer (Simon, 2012).
Stage I involves cancer cells that are found on the surface of or in fluid collected from the
abdomen in one or both ovaries (AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, 2012). The 5 year survival chance
for stage I is 89 percent. Stage IA has cancer cells in only one ovary, the outer capsule has not yet
ruptured, and there is no tumor on the surface of the ovary (AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, 2012).
The 5 year survival rate is 94 percent.

Leete, the reader gains a better understanding of how much things have changed in the 20th
century. The city of Boston, that was once spread out, has changed to more of a compact and
busy area. Also, the buildings have changed into more modern structures with technology
(pg.55). During his time with Dr. Leete and his family he sees that many things have changed,
since the 19th century. One of the major things that have changed is that everyone lives on the
same fixed income (pg.96). With their income they are allowed to spend it on whatever they see
is important. Compared to the 1800 s there are a variety of shopping stores that sell both; wants
and needs. It is also important to note that music has changed, too. During the 19th century it was
performed by individuals and bands live, but now one can listen to performers through
technology (pg. 97). Even the political and economic systems have changed. For example, they
use a method of electing officials by votes of the retired members of guilds (pg.147).
Economically the country has gotten rid of private capital and they are able to calculate expected
demand for goods and services. This is due to the fact the nation is the only producer of them.
Another change involves trade with other countries. There is equality between women and men
when it comes to jobs and opportunities. As a society they have put more emphasis on education
and what it can provide for an individual, or a society. If the 19th

Analysis of My Last Duchess Essay
My Last Duchess is a poem written by Robert Browning in 1845. It s a first person narrative of a
duke who is showing the ambassador around his palace and negotiating his marriage to the
daughter of another powerful family. As they are walking through the palace, the duke stops and
looks at the beautiful portrait of his lovely last duchess.
The duke speaks his thoughts about the girl, and as the poem progresses we begin to realize that his
last duchess had been murdered. ...I gave commands, then all smiles stopped together, This
metaphorical sentence tells us that his commands were the ones that caused her death and her stop

My favour at her breast, the dropping of the daylight in the West . Here the Duke tells us that he
believed he had a seat at her heart. However her passion for him was diminishing as quickly as a
day s sunset in the West. The daylight is such a beautiful thing, but her love for him was like the
dropping of daylight meaning that he was losing such a beauty and he regretted.
This metaphor used is a tragic metaphor.
The rhetorical question used on line 23 reflects his anger. A heart how shall I say? too soon made
glad... this quote explains that she was pleased by all men, and the Duke was struggling to find a
way to express himself successfully. This is because he was so bothered by the fact that he didn t
satisfy her enough since she needed the satisfaction from other men. His frustration also reflects
that there is an element of jealousy within him. Oh sir, she smiled... The poet makes use of a
sibilant, which is an irritating sound to hear. This emphasizes his anger and frustration. He never
refers to her by name, which reflects his disturbed character.
After all of the Duke s anger builds up, we learn that he lets out all of his frustration in a very
negative and disturbed manner. This grew; I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together.
There she stands as if alive. The deliberate ambiguity used in this sentence hints to the audience that
he has murdered her.
The poem is one

The Ways Of Today s Society
The ways of today s society are a trap to the common child. One cannot go out in public without
seeing at least one child using some form of technology. When most are used to seeing children
playing in their front yards or on a playground as they once did, they have a sudden awakening
when they realize, most children are not like that anymore. Modern cultureis a corruption to one s
childhoodand causes a child to be unsocial, unhealthy, and constantly pressured to follow the newest

Children are not able to develop the social skills that they are supposed to when they do not get
out and play with other adolescents or even interact with their own family. Because of the fact
that kids are sitting inside for so long, they often become quite unhealthy. As someone sits there
for a while, they feel the urge to snack on foods. Most often, the foods they are snacking on are
junk food. Since they are looking mindlessly at a screen, children find themselves subconsciously
eating. Junk food such as chips and candy can become addictive and it is difficult to stop eating
once started. Not only does the food they eat cause the children to be unhealthy, but they are also
not getting out and being physically active. Children s developing sensory, motor, and attachment
systems have biologically not evolved to accommodate this sedentary, yet frenzied and chaotic
nature of today s technology. Young children require 2 3 hours per day of active, rough and tumble
play to achieve adequate sensory stimulation to their vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile systems.
Tactile stimulation received through touching, hugging and play is critical for the development of

necessary for children to be physically active and play, as it helps with their physical and mental

toward Billy, making the reader wonder what she is planning. This story was then made into an
equally strange short film. During the making of this film, the producers chose to leave out a
certain scene. In the beginning of the written story, Billy discovers the Bed and Breakfastand peers
in the window. Inside, he sees many positive signs such as pets, a fire burning in the hearth, and
pleasant furniture. To end the scene, Mr. Weaver feels compelled by these qualities in the
boardinghouse to walk up to the door and knock, which is when the Landlady swiftly answers. I

When Billy looks in the Bed and Breakfast window, that shows a side of his personality. Billy
Weaver is a curious and anxious individual, which becomes obvious through this piece of the
story. This scene also gives the reader an understanding of the landlady s character. It shows how
she is welcoming and warm towards her guests based on the objects Billy sees in the house. This
part that the film excluded also foreshadows that Billy will most likely choose the Bed and
Breakfast due to the things he notices through the window. The scene was very important to
characterization within the story and an indication of what will happen later

Hum By Naomi Shihab Nye Summary
On September 11, 2001 America was attacked by terrorists at the World Trade Center in New
York City and The Pentagon in Washington D.C. Planes crashed into these buildings and killed
thousands of people, and injured even more. This tore families apart. Also, many people
believed that Muslim and Islamic people were responsible for the terrorist attacks. This was a
very sad time for the nation because it was very rough for citizens with different races and
religions. In the story Hum by Naomi Shihab Nye, the cartoon Ahmed Mohamed by Adam
Zyglis and the article How 9/11 Changed These Muslims Americans Lives Forever by Lydia O
Connor, it is clear that the aftermath of 9/11 resulted in horrible discrimination around the USA.
In the story, Hum, by Naomi Shihab Nye, a young Palestinian boy named Sami faces
discrimination first hand from his classmates after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Sami Salsa just
moved to America from Israel with his mom and dad. When Sami goes to school all the kids

In this cartoon Uncle Sam is holding a newspaper with the title that states, Texas teen Mohamed
Arrested for making a clock (Zyglis). The newspaper title clearly shows that Muslims and Arabs
are being treated unfairly because it is not a crime to build a clock. The young teen, Mohamed,
was arrested because people around him thought he was building a bomb since he is Muslim.
This is one of many acts of discrimination because people assumed that he was building an
explosive. In the picture, Uncle Sam says that his clock is stuck at 9/11 because 9/11 was a time
period where discrimination was so strong. This shows that even years after this terrible occurrence
people in America still discriminate against Muslims because of an event that happened so long

Classification Essay-Chopping Wood
There s an art to swinging a maul, to splitting the wood just right. I came to love that satisfying
thunk! You must put your entire body, every muscle into it.
Chopping wood s excellent for muscle building. First, grab a round or partial round of seasoned
wood. If the wood s green, leave it a few months. The fur people had an immense stack of wood
from trees they d felled, sitting in the sun to that precise purpose. Had, as in past tense, we soon
worked through that stack.
Trees are felled, cut into rounds, slices 18 inches long and left in the sun to dry. When they become
seasoned, the rounds are split into convenient sized chunks.
First, set a large hunk of seasoned wood on a chopping block. Position yourself so when swinging,

It isn t necessary to be a large muscle bound lumberjack to swing a maul with authority. Even a
compact lumber jill can swing a mean maul. It doesn t demand massive muscles, although it allows
application of whatever muscle available. Plus it s wonderful exercise.
Other tasks of the stone age household also constitute quality exercise. Carrying water s a useful
surrogate for lifting weights. I also pulled a plow, a hilarious story of itself. They lack large draft
animals on this world. Horses, oxen and such just aren t available, the best draft animal here walks
upright on two legs!
Teena added rope climbing to the training. I d climbed ropes in the service, although the service
utilized high tech gear. We were wimps and didn t realize it! Our regimen uses only what nature
endowed. I discovered that used a rather different set of muscles. Teena claimed that the ability
to scoot up a rope, or down one, might someday save my life. She darkly hinted that a predator at
my heels might inspire alacrity. I took the advice to heart and worked at it. I discovered rope burns
heal quickly on applying a poultice of vitelotte skins and Grow Juice. Wonderful

The Role Of College Students In Boston College
Where do the majority of college students, specifically Boston College undergrads, think they are in
their lives at this current point in time? One can expect to get a majority of answers that echo
sentiments of growth, experimentation, and overall personal development. In other words, most
students will say that collegeis the time in your life when you try figure out who you are, while
doing things you never thought you would do or would do normally. However, lurking underneath
these seemingly pure and forward looking attitudes is a false understanding of development,
particularly habit development. In actuality, most college students live in a bubble. At Boston

The Late Middle Ages
The late Middle ages was definitely a troubled time for citizens around Europe. From the 14th
Century to the 15th Century, humans were raveled by famines, disruption of socio economics,
and lost of faith in the Catholic Church. To the eyes of many at the time, this era was looked at
as a major decline of life. With the many deaths, poor condition for poor people, and the schism of
the Church, it may seem easy to call this era a decline. Although upon closer looking, this era is
more of a transitional period into the next period than a decline due to many reasons. Whether you
look at religious, social movements, or economically, the late Middle Ageshelped transition Europe
into what it has become.
For example, the church went through a great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

an ability to fight for better pay. This high demand for all occupations and increased price on all
products benefited all workers. Matteo Villani states, But the mortality offered exceptional
opportunities, showing how important these were for the future of all common people and
workers. It may be easy to say that the economy was affected negatively with limited resources and

Manipulation In Rumpelstiltskin Spin
No matter what version of the Rumpelstiltskin tale you are reading the central element of the story
is spinning. Yet, what if there is another way to look at this term spinning ? On a basic level
spinning is the art of taking an object and manipulating it into becoming something else. Not only
does Rumpelstiltskin spin, or manipulate, straw into gold, but nearly all of the characters spin lies
for personal gain. In this story no one acts without promise of reward. I intend to show through an
in depth analysis of the Grimm brothers final version of the tale that what is truly being spun
throughout the story is manipulation, particularly male manipulation of the female. When closely
examined the very first lines of the story foreshadow the power... Show more content on

Now it happened that he got into conversation with the king, and to make an impression on him
he said, I have a daughter who can spin straw into gold . These lines show that the Miller is the
first character to manipulate the girl in order to gain power. I have a daughter who can spin
straw into gold . These are the first words the Miller utters in the story. One will come to find that
first words in this story are quite telling. In fact, there are several things in these lines which merit
critical analysis. For example, we meet the primary characters (minus Rumpelstiltskin of course),
but none of them are actually given names. The characters identities are presented to us in terms of
their socioeconomic statuses. The first character we are introduced to is the Miller. Now, millers
were never considered especially wealthy people, but the Grimms wanted to make sure that this
fact did not go unnoticed. So, not only do they identify him according to his meager occupation,
but they also explicitly define him as poor . This statement is then followed with a negation, a but .
The Miller is poor, but he has a beautiful daughter. By introducing the daughter in this way the

Agile And Agile Software Development
Agile Agile software development refers to a group of software development methodologies e.g.
Dynamics System Development Model, Crystal Methods and Extreme programming (XP
methodology). Agile methods attempt to minimise the risk in software in short time boxes called
iterations. Every iteration includes all the tasks necessary to release the mini increment of new
functionality: planning, requirements analysis, design coding, testing and documentation. At the
end of every iteration the priorities will be evaluated. Agile methods emphasise real time
communication, preferably face to face instead of written documents. Agile methods also
emphasise working software as the primary measure of progress. Agile methods produce very
little documentation compared to other methods. Most Agile teams are located in a bullpen and
include all the people necessary to finish the software. (1) (3) Crystal Methodology Crystal
Methodology is one of the most lightweight and adaptable approaches to software development
which focuses on people, interaction, community, skills and talents and communications. Crystal
is actually made up of a family of agile methodologies such as Crystal Clear, Crystal Yellow,
Crystal Orange and others. This refers to the underlining core which represents values and
principals. The principal is that each team has a different set of talents and skills and each team
should use a process uniquely tailored to it. (1) Dynamic Systems Development Model

Us Lobbying Reform
Since the creation of the United States government, political lobbying has played a large role in
influencing the creation and modification of laws. The act of lobbying is to solicit or try to
influence the votes of members of a legislative body (Dictionary.com). There has always been
controversy surrounding the political lobbyingsystem, due to the potential of corruption through
bribery. Two important pieces of legislation became laws as a result of this controversy. The
Federal Regulation of Lobbying Act of 1946 and the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 were created
to prevent potential abuse within the political lobbying system.
The purpose of lobbying is to communicate to public officials the special interests of specific
groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The controversy surrounding political lobbying does not question the act of influencing public
officials, but rather the ethics relating to how these public officials are influenced. It is
important to distinguish the fine line between bribery and lobbying. It is illegal to bribe a
public official in the United States. This would mean that an individual could not provide
compensation to a public official for them to behave, or vote, in a specific manner. Lobbyists
may donate money to a specific candidate s political campaign, but they may only do so when
there is no expectation that the public official will behave in a favorable way toward the
lobbyist or their clients (Mackinder). Lobbyists may bring public officials, their immediate
families, and staff on trips or out to dinner. While it is illegal for a lobbyist representing a
corporate client from directly bringing, it is not illegal for foreign governments to sponsor for
these said trips (Goldmacher). What has begun to happen is lobbyists representing corporate
clients may bring public officials on these trips, if the trip is sponsored by a foreign government.
The Senate Office of Public Records reported that $3.23 billion was spent on lobbying in 2013,
with 12,300 registered lobbyists. Professor James Thurber, who teaches at American University,
has studied congressional lobbying for over 30 years, and does not believe these figures are
accurate. He believes

  • 4. Use Of Technology And Its Effects On The World Throughout history, intellectual thinkers have guided the development of society through innovative inventions that changed the world drastically. One such invention that changed the way others communicated was the first telephone, created and revolutionized by Alexander Graham Bell. This invention harbored in a new period of time with increased numbers of technology. Since then, technology has expanded into television, computers, and other electronics that many rely on in order to function on a daily basis. People of all ages and backgrounds use technology consistently, including children and those from Generation Y of the 80 s and 90 s when electronic use became more frequent (Zhitomirsky Geffett Blau, 2016). Many have debated the effects of allowing children to use technology, but it is believed that there are both positive and negative effects. Childhooddevelopment is influenced by technology because it affects health, learning, social relationships, and sleep patterns. One process that is involved with child learning is the ability to plan. From infancy, children use planning to learn through basic abilities, such us learning how to walk, understanding schedules of feeding and sleeping, forming visual representations, and organizing speech patterns. For example, an infant learns or plans to walk because it is a goal oriented behavior. The infant sees something that he or she wants, determines how he will get it, and decides to orient his actions towards receiving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Explain Plato s Arguments Against Art In The Book X Of The... Explain and discuss Plato s arguments against art in book X of the republic. The aim of this essay is to evaluate Plato s argument for and against Art. I will be looking at a few things. First of all, the importance of education within Plato s society and how he believes that the influence of art creates division and thus imbalance within us and therefore within society. Additionally, I will also examine how Plato says art is thrice removed from reality. To him this is dangerous as the final product is just a shadow of the actual original idea. Finally is will look at Plato s positive belief in Art, and how it connects us with the divine world, and allows us to perceive beauty. At around 420 BCE, when Plato was born, education was one of the most important things in the Greek society. They considered a harmonious city to only be achievable if its citizens were harmonious too. Harmony within creates harmony outside. Plato believed that the soul was divided into three parts; desire, spirit and reason. Desire, the lowest part of the soul, is constantly affected by appetitive drive and instinct. Reason, the highest part of the soul, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is just what Schopenhauer says; because humanity wants a purpose for itself, we will always strive for more. For this reason we never feel complete happiness nor satisfaction. Only when we can eliminate our self interest and the utility of everything around us, then we can find satisfaction. • 6. Compare And Contrast The French Revolution And The... There are many similarities and differences when comparing revolutions. Most of these revolutions fall in around the same time and some had the same causes/goals. The American, French, and Haitian revolutions all took place in a span of less than 100 years. While these revolutions have much if common, they also have differences in the effect of these wars. The American revolution started in 1770 when conflict of the citizens and English broke out. Civilians opposed the English law and they believed that the taxes imposed were unfair to the people. These disagreements led many citizens to revolt leading to the protests in Boston and the Boston Tea Party. Many people in the colonies dumped crates of tea into the water to prove a point that these laws and taxes were unfair. Their goals were to have unity throughout the colonies and to be free from English law. After the French and Indian war, the residents knew they had to do something about these problems. After this war, the Treaty of Paris was signed and the colonies were officially free from England. Since the English no longer have rule over them, they had to find a new form of government. We are officially introduced to Henrietta as Loretta Pleasant. Henrietta, or also known as Loretta, grew up with eight other siblings, and an abusive father. (Biogrophy.com) Henrietta spent most of her youth living with her grandfather and future husband. During this time in history, Henrietta along with other African Americans, were subjected to segregation. Her life was far from easy, she grew up as many African Americanchildren did during those times, working in the tobacco fields. It seems to me that this woman had a tremendously hard life. She endured: her mother s death, being divided from her family, segregation, child labor working in the tobacco fields, a philandering husband, and cancer to name just a few things. I honestly cannot begin to imagine this lifestyle much less cancer. What stands out to me about her is that I portray her to be this strong, resilient woman. I say this because she refuses treatment for her STDs, goes on sleeping with her husband bearing him children , and most of all, she was a God fearing woman. • 12. Persuasive Essay Against Gun Control Currently gun control has been amidst one of the most thought of debates not only in recent times, but also in prior occasions. The mass shootings occurring more often lately have fueled the altercation pertaining to one subject, gun control. Gun control may have many different meanings, or descriptions varying from person to person. One may think that guncontrol is banning guns all together, banning a certain category of weapons, or banning certain items like high capacity magazines, and flash suppressors. All of these would be forms of gun control, but the true meaning of gun control, as stated by an online article What Gun Control Could Look Like, Gun control would allow citizens in the United States to still purchase firearms, but there would be reasonable regulations on firearms (Greenblat). This statement introduces the idea that gun control would not be banning guns, but banning items that are unnecessary for civilians to have possession of. Banning all guns cannot happen because it would be infringing upon the second amendment, the right to bear arms. The second amendment cannot be changed or challenged, but perimeters may be set to keep guns and people s capabilities with them limited. A firearmin the hands of a criminal or someone with bad intentions is not good, but it can be prevented. Gun control needs to happen, or mass shootings and high rates of violence will continue to occur in society. Guns have contributed to a very large amount of deaths in the United States. Suicides, homicides, and mass killings all occur, and guns are the most used weapon in all of these cases. Guns are responsible for one point three percent of all deaths in the United States between the years 1999, and 2013. This made guns the twelfth leading cause of all deaths between these years (procon.org). In the United States roughly 30,000 suicides are committed every year (harvard.edu). Most of these could be prevented but the easy access to dangerous weapons such as guns plays a large role in whether or not the person attempting suicidesucceeds in taking their life or not. • 13. Huey P. Long s Speech Huey P. Long s speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor, however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda. Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana s economy a huge lift with the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly associated with the state since Huey Longs assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was for the state. For instance, in Huey P Long s speech directed towards the entirety of the United State s population vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that nearly a dozen men owned more monetary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sonya and Dunya both experience love in different ways throughout Crime and Punishment. While Sonya shows unconditional love towards others such as her family and Raskolnikov, Dunya eventually shows evidence of self love. On one page, I used a set of rules that individually fit Sonya and Dunya, these rules are actually lessons that each girl learned in the book. Underneath Dunya and Sonya s rules, I placed an excerpt showing an example of unconditional love for Sonya and self love for Dunya. Weezer s Return There are two things you will inevitably hear about Weezer s new album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End: the first is that that it is a return to form, and the second is that Weezer is finally back, baby. Neither of these things is necessarily true; allow me to explain. EWBAITE is less a return to form and more a sum of all parts record, successfully touching on their entire discography. From the crunchy garage rock of their first self titled albums to the rockin solos of Maladroit and, yes, even the unfortunate cheese of Raditude, it s all here it in the band s attempt at a definitive 41 minutes of rock music. • 37. Analysis of My Last Duchess Essay My Last Duchess is a poem written by Robert Browning in 1845. It s a first person narrative of a duke who is showing the ambassador around his palace and negotiating his marriage to the daughter of another powerful family. As they are walking through the palace, the duke stops and looks at the beautiful portrait of his lovely last duchess. The duke speaks his thoughts about the girl, and as the poem progresses we begin to realize that his last duchess had been murdered. ...I gave commands, then all smiles stopped together, This metaphorical sentence tells us that his commands were the ones that caused her death and her stop of all smiles together . The reason behind this is that she was flirtatious with all men because she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My favour at her breast, the dropping of the daylight in the West . Here the Duke tells us that he believed he had a seat at her heart. However her passion for him was diminishing as quickly as a day s sunset in the West. The daylight is such a beautiful thing, but her love for him was like the dropping of daylight meaning that he was losing such a beauty and he regretted. This metaphor used is a tragic metaphor. The rhetorical question used on line 23 reflects his anger. A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad... this quote explains that she was pleased by all men, and the Duke was struggling to find a way to express himself successfully. This is because he was so bothered by the fact that he didn t satisfy her enough since she needed the satisfaction from other men. His frustration also reflects that there is an element of jealousy within him. Oh sir, she smiled... The poet makes use of a sibilant, which is an irritating sound to hear. This emphasizes his anger and frustration. He never refers to her by name, which reflects his disturbed character. After all of the Duke s anger builds up, we learn that he lets out all of his frustration in a very negative and disturbed manner. This grew; I gave commands; Then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive. The deliberate ambiguity used in this sentence hints to the audience that he has murdered her. The poem is one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When most are used to seeing children playing in their front yards or on a playground as they once did, they have a sudden awakening when they realize, most children are not like that anymore. Modern cultureis a corruption to one s childhoodand causes a child to be unsocial, unhealthy, and constantly pressured to follow the newest trends in social media, however, certain TV shows and websites have been known to try and educate children. Children are not able to develop the social skills that they are supposed to when they do not get out and play with other adolescents or even interact with their own family. Because of the fact that kids are sitting inside for so long, they often become quite unhealthy. As someone sits there for a while, they feel the urge to snack on foods. Most often, the foods they are snacking on are junk food. Since they are looking mindlessly at a screen, children find themselves subconsciously eating. Junk food such as chips and candy can become addictive and it is difficult to stop eating once started. Not only does the food they eat cause the children to be unhealthy, but they are also not getting out and being physically active. Children s developing sensory, motor, and attachment systems have biologically not evolved to accommodate this sedentary, yet frenzied and chaotic nature of today s technology. Young children require 2 3 hours per day of active, rough and tumble play to achieve adequate sensory stimulation to their vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile systems. Tactile stimulation received through touching, hugging and play is critical for the development of praxis, or planned movement patterns (The Impact of Technology on the Developing Child). It is necessary for children to be physically active and play, as it helps with their physical and mental development. Roald Dahl s Use Of Indirect Characterization In The Landlady The Landlady is an eerie short story written by Roald Dahl about Billy Weaver, a young businessman who finds himself in a potentially fatal situation when he stays at a Bed and Breakfast in Bath, England. The Landlady of this boardinghouse is exceedingly creepy throughout the plot toward Billy, making the reader wonder what she is planning. This story was then made into an equally strange short film. During the making of this film, the producers chose to leave out a certain scene. In the beginning of the written story, Billy discovers the Bed and Breakfastand peers in the window. Inside, he sees many positive signs such as pets, a fire burning in the hearth, and pleasant furniture. To end the scene, Mr. Weaver feels compelled by these qualities in the boardinghouse to walk up to the door and knock, which is when the Landlady swiftly answers. The characters identities are presented to us in terms of their socioeconomic statuses. The first character we are introduced to is the Miller. Now, millers were never considered especially wealthy people, but the Grimms wanted to make sure that this fact did not go unnoticed. Agile methods attempt to minimise the risk in software in short time boxes called iterations. Every iteration includes all the tasks necessary to release the mini increment of new functionality: planning, requirements analysis, design coding, testing and documentation. At the end of every iteration the priorities will be evaluated. Agile methods emphasise real time communication, preferably face to face instead of written documents. Agile methods also emphasise working software as the primary measure of progress. Agile methods produce very little documentation compared to other methods. Most Agile teams are located in a bullpen and include all the people necessary to finish the software. The act of lobbying is to solicit or try to influence the votes of members of a legislative body (Dictionary.com). There has always been controversy surrounding the political lobbyingsystem, due to the potential of corruption through bribery. Two important pieces of legislation became laws as a result of this controversy. The controversy surrounding political lobbying does not question the act of influencing public officials, but rather the ethics relating to how these public officials are influenced. It is important to distinguish the fine line between bribery and lobbying. It is illegal to bribe a public official in the United States. This would mean that an individual could not provide compensation to a public official for them to behave, or vote, in a specific manner. Lobbyists may donate money to a specific candidate s political campaign, but they may only do so when there is no expectation that the public official will behave in a favorable way toward the lobbyist or their clients (Mackinder). Lobbyists may bring public officials, their immediate families, and staff on trips or out to dinner. While it is illegal for a lobbyist representing a corporate client from directly bringing, it is not illegal for foreign governments to sponsor for these said trips (Goldmacher). What has begun to happen is lobbyists representing corporate clients may bring public officials on these trips, if the trip is sponsored by a foreign government. The Senate Office of Public Records reported that $3.23 billion was spent on lobbying in 2013, with 12,300 registered lobbyists.
