Hyperthermia Case Studies
There are many factors to consider on a patient in a critical setting such as the ICU. One factor that
can easily be over looked but is still just as important is temperature regulation. Hypothermia is
considered any temperature below 35 C. Hyperthermia is considered any temperature over 38. A
temperature is considered life threating anything above 41.5 C. Temperature control issues are
common in the critically ill due to infection, trauma, or even the large impact the disease process or
injury takes on the patient s ability to regulate temperature. Temperature control is significant in the
critically ill patient because studies show that an increase in temperature can mask symptoms of
underlying disease processes. There are situations when hypothermia is medically induced to
precipitate healing. It has been shown that in neuro and post cardiac arrest patients a lower
temperature and even mild hypothermia can improve overall outcome. (CITATION) Trauma patients
are at an increased risk for hypothermia due to blood loss and overall trauma on the body systems.
An increased temperature can take a major toll on a patient s ability to heal. Studies have shown ...

During this rotation the only major interventions I have seen put into place is the use of a cooling
blanket. The patient s temperature wasn t elevated to the point to be considered a full blow fever but
due to being in a roto prone bed the nurse was worried about him beginning to sweat and increasing
the risk for skin breakdown because of the moister in the very tight bed. I did see a patient spike a
temperature of unknown origin and the doctor ordered labs and blood cultures to check for an origin
and the patient began taking multiple wide spectrum antibiotics in hopes of stopping an infection

Centralized Power In Minoan Civilization
Centralized power in myriad amounts of ancient cultures serves as a norm for most. In times during
the Minoan civilization, and the Mycenaean civilization, the idea of having a centralized power, or at
least some sort of hierarchy that is evident, had had multiple disputes to whether or not such a
government was favored. Minoans and Mycenaean s often had problems with such centralized
powers, that it caused a focal discussion of whether or not a hierarchy of such should be established.
For both sides of the argument, there served multiple points of validity for and against a centralized
government, especially referring to shipping goods, the manufacturing and usage of the goods, and the
culture behind either one. With hierarchies often comes

Faculty Senate Review Meeting held 2014 09 09
The Faculty Senate meeting provided examples of several matrix elements, including agenda/direction
and partnership . In addition, the structure of the university collegium at BGSU is under consideration
for change. Discussions of each of these concepts will be preceded by an overview of the portion of
the meeting pertinent to it.
The first matrix element to be considered here is agenda/direction . Direction is defined in part as ...
either the philosophy of the organization or its policy. (Van Wart 2011). For purposes of this paper,
direction will simply be defined as what will the organization do? The chair began the meeting by

The environment, defined by Duncan (1972) as the totality of physical and social factors that are taken
directly into consideration in the decision making behavior of individuals in the organization has
changed for the Senate. Specifically, the collective bargaining agreement put in place has changed the
social structure of the relationship between the faculty and the administration. The previously
understood purview of the Senate has been altered by this significant environmental change.
The process undertaken to brainstorm the issue of Senate direction was an example of the senate
working to modify an element of the university collegium in place at BGSU. University collegium is
described by Downey (2006) in part as: the complex network of assumptions, traditions, protocols,
relations and structures which permit the professoriate to control the academic affairs of the institution
. Utilizing general principles of social constructionism, ideas were considered by the senators in an
informal peer to peer fashion to address the above questions. Working as a community of scholars
with a wide variety of specializations, the senators made an effort to collectively define a new role for
the Senate. Their ideas were collected and will be synthesized, with the intent of producing a sense of
the Senate document to be used to guide further activities. The outcome of this

The Pillars Of School Leadership
Leadership
This paper is a review on the pillars of school leadership as discussed in School Supervision class.
One occurring question is what does it mean to be a leader in one of our urban school system today is
a questions asked repeatedly in our class reading? The qualities of a leader are courage, flexibility and
confidence.
Leadership today is the process by which leaders individually or collectively influence their
colleagues. The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement (2005), A leader is being
so awesome that everyone want to follow you . (quote from Leadership handout). Additionally, leaders
must motivate people and have other skills such as agreement building, networking, and exercising no

School leaders understand that when high performance is expected its likelihood increases and
developing a leader takes time. Some leaders are too often preoccupied (p.15) with the capacity to
bring about intended consequences in the behavior of others.
In addition to maintaining these skills, Siccone (2011), found that people are motivated by one of three
strong drives to do the best work of which they are capable. For leaders to effect change, they must
have a picture of what change will look like. Total participation techniques provide teachers with
evidence of active participation and cognitive engagement from all students at the same time. These
techniques function as formative assessments that help teachers accurately monitor progress, provide
(Siccone 2011).
Instructional
Feedback and the need to modify instruction and other characteristics are essential to developing a
rich culture to analyze assessments in our schools. Today s students have more rigorous curriculum
and they are required to reach proficiency on assessments, more and more schools are using a form of
data process to identify what teachers should be able to teach their students, to dispel myths that some
students can not learn and inspire educators to a greater level of commitment and action having data

Hypocrisy In Scarlet Letter
If the truth be told to set one free, then what will a lie do? The answer to this question can be found in
The Scarlet Letter, as a secret torments the soul of a respected minister. In the novel, extreme
hypocrisy is seen in the community s leaders while goodness is found in an adulterer. From this, the
reader learns the value of truth as well as the result of living a lie. Nathaniel Hawthorne instills the
three types of irony to help convey the theme of hypocrisy, and its effects on society and the soul.
The Puritan society claims to be righteous and pure; yet, in the novel, the corruption at the core of the
community cannot hidden by the deception of the leaders. The Puritans move to America seeking a
better life. However, when they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Dimmesdale fails to acknowledge his adultery, Hester has no choice but to confess. In doing so,
Hester is able to avoid the internal guilt that Dimmesdale faces. In chapter seventeen, Dimmesdale
proves this by declaring, Else, I should long ago have thrown off these garments of mock holiness,
and have shown myself... Happy are you, Hester, that wear the scarlet letter openly upon your bosom!
(Hawthorne 176) Dimmesdale envys Hester because he sees how she has avoided the intoxicating
shame that possesses the minister. Dimmesdale also says he regrets not giving up his holy position and
exposing himself. However, Dimmesdale could reveal his secret at anytime, but he does not; once
again revealing the hypocritical nature of the minister. Hester is able to face the consequences for her
actions while Dimmesdale remains too proud. Hester s honesty proves to benefit her in the long run as
she is able to overcome the guilt of her sin and view it as a lesson. Near the end of the book,
Hawthorne reveals the true transformation of Hester s symbol by stating, ... the scarlet letter ceased to
be a stigma which attracted the world s scorn and bitterness, and became a type of something to be
sorrowed over, and looked upon with awe, yet with reverence, too. (Hawthorne 239) This quote
unveils the rewards that come to those who have integrity. When Hester chooses to confess and accept
her punishment,

Density Investigation
5861
Are these Objects Made of the Same Material?
Every substance has its own unique density due to all of the atoms mass, size, and arrangement being
different for each atom. Density is the relationship between two characteristics of matter which are
mass and the occupied space. Density is a characteristic property, meaning the density of a substance
will stay the same. In an investigation the objects densities would be calculated to determine whether
the objects are made of the same material. The objects are all different colors, sizes, textures and
shapes. In order to find density, the mass and volume would need to be calculated.
In order to calculate the density of an object two things must be calculated the mass and volume of the
object. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blue object has a density of 1.19g/cm3, while the black object has a density of 1.41g/cm3, and the
clear object has a density of 1.04g/cm3. Although the density difference is in the tenths it still is a
difference in the densities. For example, the difference in the density of neon versus sodium is 0.03
which is a small difference and because of the different densities the two substances are completely
different. The measurement of the volume in mL could have been better if the 10mL graduated
cylinder was used in place of the 50 mL. The calipers and graduated cylinder only measures to the
tenths which does not give as precise measurements as the balance. The human error causes the non
identical cm3 to mL measurement of the same objects causing a slight difference in the densities of the
same object. When comparing my data to another group doing the same experiment I found a possible
miscalculation of volume in mL for the clear object in my own experiment. Aside from the possible
miscalculation, the volume measured in the other group was to the ones place of a number while our
group measured to the tenths place. Since the top loader balance the other group used was different,
the masses were also different in the hundredths. They also stated that the objects are made of the
same material which according to their data is not

Rolling Wheels Case Study
Rolling wheels
The whole industry of cars being advertized to the public by toys, games, shows and so on, have
always had this target to consumers (parents) to buy these toys most specifically to their male kids and
young adult. This matter gives a social idea that male children had to interact with manly like toys that
gave the children there gender role of being a male begging or stating the stage of what your suppose
to like as you grow up because of your sex. Respectively being a child, seeing a toy car was something
you naturally approached to and were not told nothing if you played with it unless you for some
chance tried to play with a doll or play house and were told not to by a parent. There response for
restricting you to these other toys was most likely because that s for girls to play I never wondered
why there was such restrictions between girl and boy toys; I just knew I had to stick to cars. In my
case I may have gotten a response like this in my childhood one day after school playing with the
apartment neighbors, girl from school, on the stairwell playing with her toy horse and doll when my
mother came out and told me not to play with that to instead bring one of my toys out to play. Toy cars
have been in throughout my whole life and have inspired me to pursue a career on what I have come
to love most which all started with a toy car I got as a present as a child.

Characteristics In The Colonies Of America
The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be
examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This
characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who
came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was
structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church
government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his
assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of
a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and
there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which
were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the
Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not
just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of
Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of
Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected
assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. These elected officials were
usually wealthy, male property owners which

Advantages Of The Reign Of Terror
In June of 1793, the Committee of Public safety began the Reign of Terror, which would not end until
July of 1794. As a result of the Terror, over 14,000 people were killed by the use guillotines, firing
squads, and drowning. A large majority of these deaths occured in the French Departments of Lore,
Lyon, and Vendee (Document 1). In Paris, most of those executed were nobles and upper middle class
citizens, while throughout the rest of France, the majority of those executed were peasants and
working class citizens. (Document 2). Over 10,000 of the people executed committed hostile acts
against the French State (Document 3). The Reign of Terror was a chaotic time period in which France
was warring against Austria and Prussia and in deep financial troubles. The revolutionaries used the
terror to their advantage, eliminating all of those who were in opposition. The terror, however, was
disadvantageous to the revolutionaries because it caused more chaos and civil unrest throughout all of
France. The revolutionaries used the Reign of Terror to their advantage, eliminating all of those in
resistance. General Ronsin, who was a leader of the revolutionary army, strongly supported the use of
guillotine and firing squad to execute the opposition (Document 5). These revolutionaries thought they
had brought justice into France through the execution of those who were resisting the revolutionaries.

Virtual Child Pornography Case Study
Case 1 Virtual child pornography
Parties are The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act, the people in the porn video, and the
people recording it. The moral issue is people that are playing in porn videos posing as a child but is
really an older person that looks young, also the people who think this is okay to watch. Virtual child
pornography is a term given to video depictions of child/child or child/adult sexual activity in which
the participants are not actual children but realistic computer generated images of children. This was
the reason that The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act banned this kind of porn because this is
not right to show children bodies off to people for pleasure.
As I did some research I see this, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I as well came across this as I researched about child porn, the CPPA defined child pornography as:
Any visual depiction, including any photography, film, video, picture or computer generated image or
picture of sexually explicit conduct, where the production of such visual depiction is, or, appears to be,
of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; such visual depiction has been created, adapted, or
modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or such visual
depiction is advertised, promoted, presented, described, or distributed in such a manner that conveys
the impression that the material is or contains a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually
explicit conduct. This to me is sickening and for a person to be able to go online and click in the
search box and google or search in what even search engine they may use and type child porn and can
bare themselves to sit there and watch this is a very heartless person.
The question remains whether the government may criminalize the production and possession of
virtual child pornography if no child is used in the production of pornography and the images are
completely fictional. My all around output on the child porn is that I think it is so disgusting and it is
observed and no one

Cut of Steak People believe that extroverts and introverts are like a cut of steak. People like to believe
that the steak they ordered is very clean and clearly cut; people also consider introverts and extroverts
to have clean cut attributes. Like many, people will believe that introverts do not enjoy people and
only appreciate time with themselves. Also, many people will place extroverts in a group of loud

people believe that the qualities of introverts and extroverts are clear cut, there is more to introverts

extroverts just make friends easier also when they make friends and when they induce small talk their
brain will shoot them doses of dopamine (Granneman, 4). People also believe that introverts only like
to be with themselves. When in reality introverts need time to be with themselves to refuel from social

their brains use different neurotransmitters while extroverts receive dopamine from doing outwardly

Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe
What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide
not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam
Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists,
state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to
apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence.
Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to
keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western
Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to
the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on
the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western
Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet
Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any
benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014).
Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear
tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. This
could undermine the precarious logic of deterrence by

In my opinion, I believe iron smelting is an efficient way of extracting iron as it has many companies
working with/against each other in finding the best way to make this process cost efficient, fast, safe
and environmentally friendly (as much as possible).
4. Identify the product(s) of separation and their uses
The product of smelting iron ore is pig iron. Alone, pig iron has limited uses, these include: basic
metal utensils, pot metals, fencing or railing, decorative metal pieces and pig iron pellets or ingots that
can be loaded into a plane for a balanced flight. Pig iron can also be converted to wrought iron and
steel and the uses of these include:
Wrought Iron: railings, hooks, chains, rivets and railway couplings.
Steel: construction, transport, energy, packaging and appliances and industry
5. Discuss issues associated with wastes from the industrial separation processes used
The smelting of iron utilises vast amounts of energy and thus creates greenhouse gas emissions. Large
amounts of gangue (slag) are also a problem produced as a waste product that needs to be disposed

The Long Run Consequences Of Slow Economic Recovery After...
Abstract This research examined and listed some of the evidence demonstrating the long run
consequences of slow economic recovery after periods of recessions in the U.S. economy on wage
earners of a four person family. Economy shifts were examined and its effect on the four member
family, two adult wage earners, and two children was analyzed. This trend and shift of and within the
economy contributed to the overall wholeness and well being of the family. As a rising economy
produced family stability and productive home environments, a declining economy produced
insecurity and a negative home environment. Whether negative or positive, the economy attributed to
various differences within the context of a stable, healthy family structure. Keywords: economy,

Economic Recovery on Wage Earners of a Four Person Family Typically, households experiences
differences in its wholesomeness and vitality as society experiences changes in our nation s overall
economy. Therefore, it is extremely important for the heads of the family to have a plan in place at all
times so that the family will experience the least amount of overall change as the state of the economy
fluctuates. The state of the U.S. economy, undoubtedly, shapes the family infrastructure. This
economic state creates either a balance or unbalance with the family. Whenever both adults are active

In my opinion, most research I have come across is based on how immigrants identities are being
shaped by dominant Canadian culture. However, not a lot of research is being done on how they
themselves have, and are able to incorporate their own culture into Canadian society. Therefore, I was
very interested in finding research that focuses on how immigrant communities have done so. The
focus of this paper is to provide information on the importance of immigrant involvement and
participation in society, and how this in turn can help in their integration into Canadian communities.
Through the use of academic research, I argue, that it is through immigrant involvement in the

Housing impacts the process of integration as it is the base for starting and establishing life in a new

to health problems, then to emotional distress. Therefore lack of housing poses a threat to the
integration process of newcomers. In the Peel Region, settlement workers and agencies themselves are
stressing the lack of settlement services provided to the new arrivals. With cities like Mississauga
whose immigrant population is rapidly increasing, settlement services must be readily available.
According to a Mississauga settlement worker, there has been major financial cut backs from
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) (Mukhtar et. al., 2015, 398). As a result of this lack of
government support, agencies are now being limited in their ability to provide for example, programs

Motivation Theories And Motivation Of Employee Motivation...
In organizations all across the world you will find management working diligently to enhance or
maintain productivity. There are many things that can affect productivity, some that are within our
control and some that are not. Employee motivation is something that can directly affect an
organizations production. It is no secret that un motivated employees equates to un productive
workers, but how can we combat this? In order to better understand this concept we will look at the
definition of employee motivation, some of the motivation theories and some motivation techniques
that could be useful in our organizations.
What is employee motivation?
Motivation is a word used quite often in many different scenarios, at work, home, the gym as well as
other places. In order to explore employee motivation, let us first define the term. According to
Spector (2012), motivation is generally defined as an internal state that induces a person to engage in

repetitively researched over the years, the word motivation has been defined in many different ways.
In 1981 Kleinginna and Kleinginna documented 140 different definitions of the word. For the purpose
of this research we will be focusing on work or employee motivation. A very good definition of this
concept was developed in 1981by a professor

Stroke, Ischemic And Ischemic Attacks
STROKE A stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading into as well as within the brain. Strokes
are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. Approximately 800,000 people have strokes
every year about one every 4 seconds. 1 A stroke may cause lasting brain damage, long term disability,
or possibly even death. There are three main types of strokes, ischemic, hemorrhagic and transient
ischemic attacks and each come with many warning signs. A person may have an increased chance of
having a stroke depending on their lifestyle and risky behaviors, and treatment is determined on what
type of stroke a person has. During a stroke, the brain is not receiving enough blood: Blood is carrying

An embolic stroke happens when the clot develops away from the brain, perhaps in a limb, and is then
carried into the brain by the bloodstream. This type of clot when the moving clot then is lodged within
the narrower arteries within the brain is called an embolus The second major type of stroke is labeled
as a hemorrhagic stroke. Hemorrhagic strokes are caused by arteries in the brain rupturing open or
slowly leaking into the cranium. The rupture or leakage of blood then puts pressure on the surrounding
brain cells. There are two types of hemorrhagic strokes; intracerebral which occurs when a blood
vessel in the brain bursts and spills into surrounding brain tissue damaging brain cells. Brain cells
beyond the leak are deprived of blood are also damaged. 2 The second type of hemorrhagic stroke is
called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. With a subarachnoid hemorrhage an artery on the surface of the
brain bursts and spills blood between the surface of the brain and the skull. This bleeding is often
signaled by a sudden, severe headache. 2 This type of stroke is usually caused by an aneurysm. The
third type of stroke is called a transient ischemic attack, or a mini stroke. With a transient ischemic
attack, there is only a temporary decrease is the blood flow to the brain, and thus is the least severe
kind of stroke a person can have. A TIA can be caused by a clot that usually resolves

Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate
The Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate
Introduction: Our bodies need to be in balance in order to function properly, and there are many ways
the body maintains balance, or homeostasis. Homeostasis is the maintenance of nearly constant
conditions in the internal environment. Our normal heart rate is an example of our body in
homeostasis and any sort of change, or stimulus, can alter it. Exercise, adrenaline in the blood, and a
low blood pH are all stimuli that increase the heart rate. Exercise, for example, stimulates stretch
receptors in the muscles. These receptors then send a signal to a part of the brain called the medulla
oblongata that receives the sensory input. It then in turn sends nerve impulses to the sinoatrial node ...

example.

Mexican American War And The Mexican War
The Mexican American war better known as the Mexican war, was a conflict between The united
states of America and Mexico. from 1846 to 1848. It followed in the wake of the 1845 US annexation
of Texas, which Mexico considered part of its territory, despite the 1836 Texas revolution. After its
independence in 1821 and brief experiment with monarchy, Mexico became a republic in 1824,
characterized by considerable instability, so that when war broke out in 1846, Mexico was ill prepared
for this conflict. The war with the United States followed in the wake of decades of Indian raids in the
sparsely settled north of Mexico, which prompted the Mexican government to sponsor American
migration to the Mexican province of Texas to act as a buffer. Americans and some Mexicans revolted
against the Mexican government in the 1836 Texas Revolution, creating a republic not recognized by
Mexico, which still claimed it as its national territory. The 1845 expansion of US territory with its
annexation of Texas escalated the dispute between the United States and Mexico to open war. In 1844
James K. Polk, the newly elected president, made a proposition to the Mexican government to
purchase the disputed lands between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande. When that offer was
rejected, troops from the United States commanded by Major General Zachary Taylor were moved
into the disputed territory of Coahuila. These troops were then attacked by Mexican troops, killing 12
American troops and taking 52

Benefits Of Denying The Antecedent
What exactly is denying the Antecedent? It is a fallacy in formal logic where in a standard if/then
premise, the antecedent (what comes after the if ) is made not true, and then it is concludes that the
consequent (what comes after the then ) is not true. Denying the antecedent, sometimes also called
inverse error or fallacy of the inverse, is a formal fallacy of inferring the inverse from the original
statement. I choose this argument because I didn t know much about it, and I felt like I could
understand it more if I knew more about the different arguments. Arguments of this form are invalid.
Informally, this means that arguments of this form do not give good reason to establish their
conclusions, even if their premises are true. When I read about it in the text book it seemed interesting
to learn about, and this became the perfect opportunity to do so. I feel like this assignment as giving a
lot of clarification on understanding the differences in the arguments. ... Show more content on

It doesn t bite. Therefore, it s not a shark. It is not that clear that a fallacy is being committed, but
because this is a formal argument following a strict form, even if the conclusion seems to be true, the
argument is still invalid. Fallacies can be very tricky and deceptive. Since it doesn t bite, we cannot
conclude with certainty that it isn t a shark. The arguer has committed a formal fallacy, and the
argument is invalid because the truth of the premises does not guarantee the truth of the conclusion.
The reason why I choose to do this argument because when I was reading this section in the book, it

Sexual Behavior And Sexual Abuse
In this time there are so many illnesses and disorders that go either unknown or unseen. One that seems
to go misunderstood is sexual compulsive behavior, also known as sexual addiction. Other ways to
refer to it is sexual dependency, hypersexuality, nymphomania(for females) and satyriasis(for males).
Sexual addiction is the phenomenon in which people can not control their sexual behavior and urges.
Those who have this disease is obsessed with sexual thoughts and don t have the ability to control
their urges.
Some people misunderstand this as an excuse to act this way, yet in reality it s a mental disorder that
challeges theindividual. In order for it to be considered an addiction it has to interfere with their
lives.Psychologists don t have a criterion for diagnosing sexual addiction, so they treat it similar to
that of substance abuse. For someone who has sexual addiction, their thoughts all day will be
preoccupied with the thought of sex, and shaping their day around activities that involve sex. For
example, watching pronography, masterbathing or planning events that will either involve sex or end
in it.This serious disorder can cause devastating effects on the person, emotionally and mentally.
Signs that someone is a sex addict can vary on the person. Yet the main signs would be if sex
dominates the individual s life; the individual engages in phone sex, computer sex, use of
prostitutes,pornography or exhibitionism;the individual habitually masturbates;the individual

What Are The Aspects Of A Discourse Community

to handle the velocity of calls they were getting. Pizza Hut decided to create a call center. I ve been
employed with the Pizza Hut Call Center for three months now and I see this as the perfect discourse

worthless and it makes no sense for us to exist. Every day we are disrespected and humiliated but I ve

course of this essay I will explain how Important this community is, The aspects of this community,
the importance of this community and the importance of the members of this community.
A discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals , says John Swales (220).
Throughout my research and studies of this discourse community, I have noticed that all members do
have goals and obligations to this call center. Everyone is aware of these goals and are aware that they
are expected to honor them. I ve noticed that mainly we have a set goal to satisfy each and every
customer. Although this goal seems simple, It s the exact opposite. This is not an easy thing to do. I ve

County Council Meeting Reflection
The County council meeting that I attended was all I thought it would be, minus the crazy person that
I was promised. The county council meeting was facilitated by a group of white men and women with
very few if any minorities in attendance. The council appeared to be very dry leaving me questioning
why this was so important. However, shortly after settling in for the long hall it clicked, and I was able
to make the connection to my Political Science 1100 course, and how exactly the county council
meeting fit into the bigger picture of government and its importance. The county council much like the
State legislative bodies addressed various topics and issues related to the county and sought ways to
address them. Although it was very dull,

of their culture. The first type of hero is an Epic hero, who is a brave and honorable character. An epic

The Iliad and the Odyssey are believed to be written down around 800 700 BC. Before then, the
stories were told orally. The poem the Iliad tells the story of Achilles, his anger, and his slaying of the
Trojan Hero Hector. The poem the Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus, and his decade long journey
back home after spending ten years in the Trojan war that lasted a decade. Though the events of the
Iliad took place during the Greek Bronze age, the culture portrayed is mirrored after the Dark Ages.
The Dark Ages, dated around 1000 800 BC, was a result of the fall of the Mycenaean civilization
which is dated between 1600 1000 BC. The cause of the decline of the Mycenaean civilization is
unknown, but the fall of the society caused social instability, creating a need for protection. This
created a society that relied heavily on the warrior class. During the Dark Ages, the warrior class are
considered the ruling class. In order for a man to lead, he has to demonstrate his ability as a warrior
through his strengths and intelligence. These characteristics are reflected in both Homers poem, in
which the main characters Achilles and Odysseus are both

figures that represent the economic strength of the individual economies. Referring to the absolute
GDP (ppp) values, Switzerland has got the largest economic output of US$ 252.9bln in 2006. Portugal
and Denmark generated US$ 203.1bln and US$ 198.5 respectively. However, if the GDP is evaluated
on a per capita bases, Denmark has got the strongest economy (US$ 35660) followed by Switzerland
(US$ 33600) and Portugal (US$ 22100). The same order holds for the GDP growth rates in 2006 (see

The social circumstances in the countries are mainly impacted by unemployment rates and general
standards of living. Unemployment rates in 2006 (see fig. 4) are well below EU average in
Switzerland (3.9%). This figure is higher in Portugal (7.8%) and Denmark (4%). Moreover, living
standards in Denmark (government welfare measures) and Switzerland are reported to be

How Magical Realism Is Achieved
How Magical Realism is Achieved and What it Portrays in Juan Rulfo s Novel: Pedro Paramo
The idea that most do not understand situations outside of linear time and space is readily apparent
through Immanuel Kant s idea that space and time are the framework within which the mind is
constrained to construct its experience of reality. With this idea in mind, Juan Rulfo s novel, Pedro
Paramo, is purposely constructed in complete defiance of linear time and space. Rulfo aimed to create
a sense of connectedness between the reader and the main character, Juan, as well as portraying and
criticizing the catholic idea of purgatory, all through the use of magical realism.
The sense of confusion, found throughout the novel, aids in creating an ... Show more content on

He tells us this himself when he states the murmuring killed me, these being the echoes.... Trapped
behind the walls, or beneath the cobblestones the haunting voices coming from the ghosts in the town
who wanted to escape purgatory (Rulfo 41, 58). Therefore, one can conclude he died of fear, which is
supported by Dorotea when she said that Juan was already stiff as a board and all drawn up like a
person who d died of fright (Rulfo 58). Hence, bringing back the feeling of disbelief and confusion to
the reader, further expressing the use of magical realism.
The structure of the novel also contributed to the stages of magical realism since Rulfo s choice of a
structure less structure caused some to believe that the novel has no timeline. Rulfo creates the
uncommon structure through the use of shifts. He constantly switches the narrators from one to
another with no transition, which unexpectedly interrupts the story line and adds to the aspect of
broken time and the sense of confusion. Rulfo presents this idea when the main narrator, Preciado,
ends a paragraph by saying I will. I ll come later, then the story changes to another person s
perspective, whose name is not mentioned (Rulfo 11). However, the person whose name is not
mentioned, begins his story by talking about Water dripping from the roof tiles..., then mentioned that

The Evolution Of The Music Industry
History From the invention of first recording device in 1877 to cassettes to digital recording in 1987 to

last 50 years. The evolution of the music industry has given a boom to the economic activity in many
geographical scales. Technological development has been playing an effective role for the evolution of
the music industries. Looking back at the success of these music businesses, it used to be all about fun,
dignity, entertainment and business. There were no issues regarding our social and cultural values nor
there were any piracy issues. But gradually with the evolution of the music industry, it has also
challenged our social and cultural boundaries. Current issues and legislation The product of the music
industry has also been an effective tool for communication. It holds the potential to convey an
emotion, tell a story or act as a medium for celebration. The impact of music can be felt in almost
every aspect of life, because we listen to it on our daily life. In like manner, music and the music
industry also play a significant role in communicating its social norms. These ideals have challenged
political and religious ideologies, social and cultural boundaries, and individual and gender rights.

Greek Revolution Research Paper
The Greek people suffered from oppression and inequality under the Ottoman empire for over 400
years before finding bright individuals that would aid them in starting a revolution that would change
their lifestyles forever. Why did the Greek wait 400 years to revolt? Although the answer is not clear,
the peasants and farmers were too poor and uneducated because the area of Greece was in poverty.
The Greeks found three different inspirational people that would help them discover what they valued
and why they needed freedom from the Ottomans. What pushed the Greeks to finally revolt in the
Greek War of Independence was the increased religious discrimination, the motivation of the prophets
of the revolution, and the taxation policy.

Observing the Preoperational Stage This past week I had the opportunity to conduct several

conservation tasks to each child which are a conservation of number and conservation of mass. The
professor provided us with the scripts for both tasks and I did the best to replicate the tasks that were
described in the book on pages 139 to 141. Based on the readings and class discussions, I had a
hypothesis about the results of the two tasks that I planned to replicate. I hypothesized that the older
children would be able to perform well on both tasks than the younger children who would perform
well in one task or the other. I believe this because of centration, older children might have less

The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape Industries...
The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the requirements
of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The corporate veil becomes
the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this
concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the
Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the curtain
if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic measures, Courts would look for
something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud, avoidance of obligations, or group
piercing grounds. In order to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down
between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon
it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a
response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in
order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of
the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some
impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas
piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and
looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion
of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be
substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the
evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The
good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman.

  • 2. Hyperthermia Case Studies There are many factors to consider on a patient in a critical setting such as the ICU. One factor that can easily be over looked but is still just as important is temperature regulation. Hypothermia is considered any temperature below 35 C. Hyperthermia is considered any temperature over 38. A temperature is considered life threating anything above 41.5 C. Temperature control issues are common in the critically ill due to infection, trauma, or even the large impact the disease process or injury takes on the patient s ability to regulate temperature. Temperature control is significant in the critically ill patient because studies show that an increase in temperature can mask symptoms of underlying disease processes. There are situations when hypothermia is medically induced to precipitate healing. It has been shown that in neuro and post cardiac arrest patients a lower temperature and even mild hypothermia can improve overall outcome. (CITATION) Trauma patients are at an increased risk for hypothermia due to blood loss and overall trauma on the body systems. In times during the Minoan civilization, and the Mycenaean civilization, the idea of having a centralized power, or at least some sort of hierarchy that is evident, had had multiple disputes to whether or not such a government was favored. Minoans and Mycenaean s often had problems with such centralized powers, that it caused a focal discussion of whether or not a hierarchy of such should be established. Mark Heider HIED 7110 Faculty Senate Review Meeting held 2014 09 09 The Faculty Senate meeting provided examples of several matrix elements, including agenda/direction and partnership . In addition, the structure of the university collegium at BGSU is under consideration for change. Discussions of each of these concepts will be preceded by an overview of the portion of the meeting pertinent to it. The first matrix element to be considered here is agenda/direction . The environment, defined by Duncan (1972) as the totality of physical and social factors that are taken directly into consideration in the decision making behavior of individuals in the organization has changed for the Senate. Specifically, the collective bargaining agreement put in place has changed the social structure of the relationship between the faculty and the administration. The previously understood purview of the Senate has been altered by this significant environmental change. The process undertaken to brainstorm the issue of Senate direction was an example of the senate working to modify an element of the university collegium in place at BGSU. University collegium is described by Downey (2006) in part as: the complex network of assumptions, traditions, protocols, relations and structures which permit the professoriate to control the academic affairs of the institution . Utilizing general principles of social constructionism, ideas were considered by the senators in an informal peer to peer fashion to address the above questions. Working as a community of scholars with a wide variety of specializations, the senators made an effort to collectively define a new role for the Senate. Their ideas were collected and will be synthesized, with the intent of producing a sense of the Senate document to be used to guide further activities. The outcome of this ... One occurring question is what does it mean to be a leader in one of our urban school system today is a questions asked repeatedly in our class reading? The qualities of a leader are courage, flexibility and confidence. Leadership today is the process by which leaders individually or collectively influence their colleagues. School leaders understand that when high performance is expected its likelihood increases and developing a leader takes time. Some leaders are too often preoccupied (p.15) with the capacity to bring about intended consequences in the behavior of others. In addition to maintaining these skills, Siccone (2011), found that people are motivated by one of three strong drives to do the best work of which they are capable. For leaders to effect change, they must have a picture of what change will look like. Total participation techniques provide teachers with evidence of active participation and cognitive engagement from all students at the same time. These techniques function as formative assessments that help teachers accurately monitor progress, provide (Siccone 2011). • 8. Hypocrisy In Scarlet Letter If the truth be told to set one free, then what will a lie do? The answer to this question can be found in The Scarlet Letter, as a secret torments the soul of a respected minister. In the novel, extreme hypocrisy is seen in the community s leaders while goodness is found in an adulterer. From this, the reader learns the value of truth as well as the result of living a lie. Nathaniel Hawthorne instills the three types of irony to help convey the theme of hypocrisy, and its effects on society and the soul. The Puritan society claims to be righteous and pure; yet, in the novel, the corruption at the core of the community cannot hidden by the deception of the leaders. The Puritans move to America seeking a better life. However, when they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Dimmesdale fails to acknowledge his adultery, Hester has no choice but to confess. In doing so, Hester is able to avoid the internal guilt that Dimmesdale faces. In chapter seventeen, Dimmesdale proves this by declaring, Else, I should long ago have thrown off these garments of mock holiness, and have shown myself... Happy are you, Hester, that wear the scarlet letter openly upon your bosom! (Hawthorne 176) Dimmesdale envys Hester because he sees how she has avoided the intoxicating shame that possesses the minister. Dimmesdale also says he regrets not giving up his holy position and exposing himself. However, Dimmesdale could reveal his secret at anytime, but he does not; once again revealing the hypocritical nature of the minister. Hester is able to face the consequences for her actions while Dimmesdale remains too proud. Hester s honesty proves to benefit her in the long run as she is able to overcome the guilt of her sin and view it as a lesson. Near the end of the book, Hawthorne reveals the true transformation of Hester s symbol by stating, ... the scarlet letter ceased to be a stigma which attracted the world s scorn and bitterness, and became a type of something to be sorrowed over, and looked upon with awe, yet with reverence, too. • 9. Density Investigation 5861 Are these Objects Made of the Same Material? Every substance has its own unique density due to all of the atoms mass, size, and arrangement being different for each atom. Density is the relationship between two characteristics of matter which are mass and the occupied space. Density is a characteristic property, meaning the density of a substance will stay the same. In an investigation the objects densities would be calculated to determine whether the objects are made of the same material. The objects are all different colors, sizes, textures and shapes. In order to find density, the mass and volume would need to be calculated. In order to calculate the density of an object two things must be calculated the mass and volume of the object. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The blue object has a density of 1.19g/cm3, while the black object has a density of 1.41g/cm3, and the clear object has a density of 1.04g/cm3. Although the density difference is in the tenths it still is a difference in the densities. For example, the difference in the density of neon versus sodium is 0.03 which is a small difference and because of the different densities the two substances are completely different. The measurement of the volume in mL could have been better if the 10mL graduated cylinder was used in place of the 50 mL. The calipers and graduated cylinder only measures to the tenths which does not give as precise measurements as the balance. The human error causes the non identical cm3 to mL measurement of the same objects causing a slight difference in the densities of the same object. When comparing my data to another group doing the same experiment I found a possible miscalculation of volume in mL for the clear object in my own experiment. Aside from the possible miscalculation, the volume measured in the other group was to the ones place of a number while our group measured to the tenths place. Since the top loader balance the other group used was different, the masses were also different in the hundredths. Rolling Wheels Case Study Rolling wheels The whole industry of cars being advertized to the public by toys, games, shows and so on, have always had this target to consumers (parents) to buy these toys most specifically to their male kids and young adult. This matter gives a social idea that male children had to interact with manly like toys that gave the children there gender role of being a male begging or stating the stage of what your suppose to like as you grow up because of your sex. Respectively being a child, seeing a toy car was something you naturally approached to and were not told nothing if you played with it unless you for some chance tried to play with a doll or play house and were told not to by a parent. There response for restricting you to these other toys was most likely because that s for girls to play I never wondered why there was such restrictions between girl and boy toys; I just knew I had to stick to cars. In my case I may have gotten a response like this in my childhood one day after school playing with the apartment neighbors, girl from school, on the stairwell playing with her toy horse and doll when my mother came out and told me not to play with that to instead bring one of my toys out to play. Toy cars have been in throughout my whole life and have inspired me to pursue a career on what I have come to love most which all started with a toy car I got as a present as a child. • 11. Characteristics In The Colonies Of America The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. These elected officials were usually wealthy, male property owners which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The moral issue is people that are playing in porn videos posing as a child but is really an older person that looks young, also the people who think this is okay to watch. Virtual child pornography is a term given to video depictions of child/child or child/adult sexual activity in which the participants are not actual children but realistic computer generated images of children. This to me is sickening and for a person to be able to go online and click in the search box and google or search in what even search engine they may use and type child porn and can bare themselves to sit there and watch this is a very heartless person. • 17. Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists, state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence. Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014). Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. In order to explore employee motivation, let us first define the term. According to Spector (2012), motivation is generally defined as an internal state that induces a person to engage in particular behaviors (p.194). This seems to be some sort of internal pressure that helps propel us forward in whatever endeavor we might be undertaking at the time. As with any topic that has been repetitively researched over the years, the word motivation has been defined in many different ways. Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate The Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Heart Rate Introduction: Our bodies need to be in balance in order to function properly, and there are many ways the body maintains balance, or homeostasis. Homeostasis is the maintenance of nearly constant conditions in the internal environment. Our normal heart rate is an example of our body in homeostasis and any sort of change, or stimulus, can alter it. Exercise, adrenaline in the blood, and a low blood pH are all stimuli that increase the heart rate. Exercise, for example, stimulates stretch receptors in the muscles. It followed in the wake of the 1845 US annexation of Texas, which Mexico considered part of its territory, despite the 1836 Texas revolution. After its independence in 1821 and brief experiment with monarchy, Mexico became a republic in 1824, characterized by considerable instability, so that when war broke out in 1846, Mexico was ill prepared for this conflict. • 33. How Magical Realism Is Achieved How Magical Realism is Achieved and What it Portrays in Juan Rulfo s Novel: Pedro Paramo The idea that most do not understand situations outside of linear time and space is readily apparent through Immanuel Kant s idea that space and time are the framework within which the mind is constrained to construct its experience of reality. With this idea in mind, Juan Rulfo s novel, Pedro Paramo, is purposely constructed in complete defiance of linear time and space. Rulfo aimed to create a sense of connectedness between the reader and the main character, Juan, as well as portraying and criticizing the catholic idea of purgatory, all through the use of magical realism. The sense of confusion, found throughout the novel, aids in creating an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He tells us this himself when he states the murmuring killed me, these being the echoes.... Trapped behind the walls, or beneath the cobblestones the haunting voices coming from the ghosts in the town who wanted to escape purgatory (Rulfo 41, 58). Therefore, one can conclude he died of fear, which is supported by Dorotea when she said that Juan was already stiff as a board and all drawn up like a person who d died of fright (Rulfo 58). Hence, bringing back the feeling of disbelief and confusion to the reader, further expressing the use of magical realism. The structure of the novel also contributed to the stages of magical realism since Rulfo s choice of a structure less structure caused some to believe that the novel has no timeline. Rulfo creates the uncommon structure through the use of shifts. He constantly switches the narrators from one to another with no transition, which unexpectedly interrupts the story line and adds to the aspect of broken time and the sense of confusion. Rulfo presents this idea when the main narrator, Preciado, ends a paragraph by saying I will. I ll come later, then the story changes to another person s perspective, whose name is not mentioned (Rulfo 11). However, the person whose name is not mentioned, begins his story by talking about Water dripping from the roof tiles..., then mentioned that The storm had passed (Rulfo 11). Greek Revolution Research Paper The Greek people suffered from oppression and inequality under the Ottoman empire for over 400 years before finding bright individuals that would aid them in starting a revolution that would change their lifestyles forever. Why did the Greek wait 400 years to revolt? Although the answer is not clear, the peasants and farmers were too poor and uneducated because the area of Greece was in poverty. The Greeks found three different inspirational people that would help them discover what they valued and why they needed freedom from the Ottomans. What pushed the Greeks to finally revolt in the Greek War of Independence was the increased religious discrimination, the motivation of the prophets of the revolution, and the taxation policy. • 36. Observing The Preoperational Stage Essay Observing the Preoperational Stage This past week I had the opportunity to conduct several conservation tasks with children at the Rainbow and Rhymes Preschool. I decided to perform two conservation tasks to each child which are a conservation of number and conservation of mass. The professor provided us with the scripts for both tasks and I did the best to replicate the tasks that were described in the book on pages 139 to 141. Based on the readings and class discussions, I had a hypothesis about the results of the two tasks that I planned to replicate. I hypothesized that the older children would be able to perform well on both tasks than the younger children who would perform well in one task or the other. I believe this because of centration, older children might have less trouble associating the difference in conservation of number and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We began with having an equal set of 6 pennies to the child and six pennies for me. The alternations regarding the set of pennies involved me spreading the row of one set. Then I repeated to ask the child, Who had more pennies or are they the same number of pennies? . I repeated this question after alternating my set, then the child s set. After the conservation of number, I proceeded to the conservation of mass. For the 2nd task I used pennies, since I did not have access to clay until the children went to the classroom after recess. When performing the conservation of mass with pennies, I would the stack the pennies into a tower asked the children to compare it to the single row of pennies. For example, the child would have 3 stacks with two pennies per stack and I arranged my six pennies in a row and proceeded by asking him, Who had more pennies? . • 37. The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape Industries... The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The corporate veil becomes the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the curtain if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic measures, Courts would look for something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud, avoidance of obligations, or group piercing grounds. In order to determine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman. In Jones v Lipman Russell J ordered specific performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
