The Relationship Between Birth Order and Intelligence Essays
Debates on the relationship between birth order and intelligence have been remaining controversial.
Birth order is considered as a person s ranking by age among his or her siblings. There have been
numerous researchers studying about this subject to find whether firstborns generally have a higher IQ
scores than their siblings. Some scientists conclude that birth order strongly influents intelligence;
however, others oppose to this, claiming that birth order has no effect on intelligence. In this paper,
my study deals with the birth order effects on intelligence.
Investigation about the birth order effects first started in the late nineteenth century. Several
researchers have claimed that the relation between birth order and intelligence ... Show more content

Some critics argue that three points do not seem like much; however, the impact can be enormous. Just
2.3 IQ points can correlate to a 15 point difference in SAT scores, which makes an even bigger
difference when you re an Ivy League applicant with a 690 verbal score going head to head against
someone with a 705. (Kluger). Some people suggest that the difference of IQ scores varies by family
and does not show up in all family. The scientists then looked at I.Q. scores in 63,951 pairs of
brothers, and found the same results. (Carey). To make sure the difference is not due to biological
aspects, the researchers examined the scores of young men who became the eldest in the household
after an older sibling had died. Their scores came out the same, on average, as those of biological
firstborns. (Carey).
Although there are a number of scientists supporting for the idea of being the firstborns is beneficial
and advantageous, recent studies assert that the effects of birth order no longer are significant. The
children s intelligence depends on many factors such as family size, child spacing, prenatal factors,
gestational factors, not only birth order

Effects Of American Imperialism
The domination of a country s or region s political, cultural, or economic life by one country is called
imperialism. (Esler, page. 632) European imperialism began in the 1800s. European nations won
empires in the Americas after1492, established colonies in India and Southeast Asia, and gained
toeholds on the coast of Africa and China. Despite these gains, between 1500 and 1800, Europe had
little influence on the lives of the peoples of China, India or Africa. (Esler, page.632) Then the
Europeans industrialized and believe western cultures were superior to all other. They felt the other
countries were inferior to them and began the spread of westernization. There were many causes of
imperialism. A major cause of imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They applied Darwin s ideas about natural selection and the survival of the fittest to human societies
and nations. (Esler, page. 633) Natural selection is when individuals or organisms that are better suited
to their environment survive a reproduce the most successfully. European believed they were superior
to all other countries. They set out to spread western cultures and millions were robbed of their own
culture.
The British East India Company gained trading rights on the Mughal empire. The company expanded
its influence; it controlled three fifths of India by the mid 1800s, as the Mughal power declined. India
was not able to unite because there were too many languages and cultures. Even though many effects
of the East India Company were negative, many positive effects came out of it too. The East India
Company s main goal in India was to make money, and leading officials often got very rich. At the
same time, the company did work to improve roads, preserve peace, and reduce banditry. (Esler, pg.
633) British officials introduced western education, pressed for social change, missionaries tried to
convert Indians to Christianity, tried to end slavery, the caste system, and improve the position of
women within the family.
Indians resisted British domination. British hurt the business class, by not allowing them in large
scaling manufacturing. They also kept educated Indians out of high posts. Some British laws violated

Negative Effects Of Solar Eclipses
With the impending solar eclipse set to darken the skies briefly on Monday afternoon, physicians
across the country are preparing to treat cases of optical damage caused by glaring at the dark sun.
Unfortunately, many people believe that because the sun is blocked, it blocks the harmful ultraviolet
rays from reaching one s eyes, but that is not the case. Assistant professor in the University of
Alabama at Birmingham, Tamara S. Oechslin, explains it is never safe to stare directly into the sun,
and that includes during the eclipse (Janarthanan). But, these eclipses have been occurring for
thousands of years. In fact, the ancient Chinese believed that solar eclipses were dragons devouring
the sun (NASA). Obviously, the general population has come to a much stronger understanding of
what a solar eclipse entails, but they do not necessarily follow guidance related to viewing the eclipse.
In 1999, a solar eclipse occurred and several thousand people rang helplines or attended special
eclipse clinics (Dobson). However, the number of cases of solar retinopathy than was widely feared
(Dobson). Solar retinopathy is the damage caused by someone looking at the sun with improper or no
eye protection. The retina, the home of light sensing cells, is then damaged by the harmful rays of the
sun. Treatment to try and heal the effects of solar retinopathy has proven ineffective (Dobson). Eyes

Identifying An Unknown Substance Can Be Accomplished With...
Data Analysis
Identifying an unknown substance can be accomplished with the use of multiple scientific tests.
Conducting these experiments will narrow down the possibilities of the unknown compound. The
number of the unknown substance that I was given was A84841BIR, It posed to be a challenge since I
needed to test three different molecular combinations for this specific substance. Once the number of
moles the in substance was calculated using the ideal gas law, I divided it from the sample mass
number. After vaporizing away the unknown compound, I then concluded that the molarity of my
unknown chemical was 58.93 g/mol. To find my molecular formula I calculated the mass of each
element, then the moles, lastly I took the smallest whole number ratio. Using the molarity calculated I
was able to do some research to get a better understanding of what my unknown chemical could be.
Once I have collected all my data together and researched the Internet for articles relating to
understanding Infa Red spectroscopy, I should be able to make an educated guess upon what my
unknown solution could be.
The first step was to calculate the molecular formula, using the given masses on the combustion
worksheet. Using the ideal gas law, I converted the given grams to moles. The next step was to find
out the amount of oxygen in the combustion, then after more calculations, I was able to plug my value
into the ideal gas law and find the molecular weight. After calculating the molecular formula I

The Civil Argument Of Epistemology
For decades, there has been an open deliberation over whether knowledge is intrinsic or if it springs
itself from life experiences: the civil argument of epistemology. Epistemology is the investigation of
knowledge and its techniques and legitimacy. Individuals from philosophers to scientists to
psychologists have argued their perspectives, yet even today the contention is not yet settled.
Personally, I believe that it bodes well for knowledge to originate from experiences. Three
philosophers that are solid proponents for the belief that knowledge is derived from experiences are
Gaston Bachelard, Immanuel Kant, and John Locke. One of the great epistemologists was Gaston
Bachelard who was more commonly known as a philosopher of science. ... Show more content on

Kant concurred with empiricists that concepts without perceptions are empty (lonestar). He
acknowledged that concepts and ideas cannot constitute knowledge alone and that innate ideas do not
constitute knowledge at all. This brought about his conviction that there must be experience(s) in life
for there to be knowledge. His theory was that there are two sorts of reasoning to acquire knowledge:
posteriori reasoning and priori reasoning. The posteriori reasoning depends upon experience in the
world that provides us with information. For example, if I said that Barack Obama was the president
of the United States in 2010, I would only know that this is true through experience; I would not be
able to determine this through an analysis of the concepts of president or Barack Obama. In contrast, a
priori reasoning does not rely on experience to inform it, but to create the knowledge. Kant believed
that with priori reasoning, the dynamic mind relates and understands experiences in terms of causes
and effects where an event takes place and causes an experience to happen with the effect of
knowledge being gained. Kant s crucial insight here is to argue that experience of a world as we have
it is only conceivable if the psyche provides an efficient organizing of its representations; the mind
makes deductions prior to experiences, but can only truly experience something in the event that it
obtains knowledge from the

The Presidential Selection Of 1860
The presidential selection of 1860 set the stage for the American Civil war. By 1860, the nation had
been at odds mostly up to that point regarding questions of states rights and slavery in the territories.
Southerners were livid over the preparation by an abolitionist, John Brown, to establish a slave
uprising at Harper Ferry, Virginia. This event garnered headlines all over the nation in newspapers and
magazines. On the other hand, the Northern Republic seemed equally infuriated by the Supreme Court
verdict in the case of Dred Scott v. Stanford, which affirmed free soil unconstitutional. The Northern
Democrats, however, struggled to convince the Americans that their guidelines of popular sovereignty
still made sense. Enter the presidential election of 1860, which brought these tribulations to a clash
with dramatic cost. The Democratic Party divided into three groups along their provincial lines, with
each person vying for control of the party and each holding dissimilar ideas about how to deal with
servitude in the West. Their candidates consisted of John C. Breckinride, John Bell, and Stephen A.
Douglas; their efforts would be rubbish, however, as Abraham Lincoln would be triumphant for the
Republican Party. Lincoln stood on the grounds that the West should be completely liberated of
slavery entirely; which apparently was sufficient as he won the election with less than forty percent of
the popular vote. On a side note about the election, fifty nine percent of the

Karl Marx And Karl Polanyi
Adam Smith, Karl Marx and Karl Polanyi are writer of capitalism, that have influenced capitalism in
different ways to making capitalism what it is today. Adam Smith known as the father of the political
economy, developed the concept of the invisible hand; which explains how self interest and
competition in a free market economy, would allow economy prosperity. Another concept Smit
developed is division of labour which say that jobs a business should be specialised, instead of one
person having to carry out all the processes. Karl Marx, on the other hand, demonstrates to us the
negative impact of the capitalist system upon workers and society in general. As Marx believed that
workers gain nothing, instead get exploited by the capitalist who ... Show more content on

However, critics of the invisible hand say that it is not as strong as it was in the time of Smith, due to
large powerful cooperation, effective marketing system and inefficient financial market blocks the
mechanism of the invisible hand which does not allow the scare resources to be used at their best use.
An example is of the invisible hand in works is, say if a candle maker sells one candle stick for £1 but,
another candle maker sells 3 sets of candles for £2, it would mean he would get all the business
making the other candle maker lose out and make even run out of business. So, to compensate the lose
the candle marker would be forced lower his prices to survive and not get out of business, therefore,
the candle maker is guided by the invisible hand being his self interest to gain profit to lower his
prices.
Division of labour another, one of Adam Smith s concepts explains that productive power of workers
would increases each worker would have a specialised job to carry out and in turn would allow
increase number of output to be produced. Smith further, says that division of labour is not something
that is regulated by an authority, instead it is human nature. As what make us human is our propensity
to truck, barter and exchange items, which gives us assurance to be able to trade what we have
produced goes on to encourage division of labour.
Smith gives 3 reasons as to why division of labour increase s productivity. First, division

Healthcare Industry And The Health Care Industry Essay
Heath care is the most inevitable domain in human life and is always a major dependency for
everyone across the globe. Health care contributes to a significant part of any country s economy. As
per Wikipedia, In 2011, the health care industry consumed an average of 9.3 percent of the GDP or
US$ 3,322 per capita across the 34 members of OECD countries. Many life threatening diseases
which was a major risk for the human community a decade ago, are preventable or curable in present
day. For example, small pox which was a huge danger few decades ago was completely eradicated
worldwide in 1980s due to the health care industry advancement and intervention. The cost of medical
equipment, treatment, professionals was sky scraping earlier and was affordable only to the elite sector
of the society. Nowadays, medical devices are made very simple and cost effective which has made it
more accessible for common people around the globe. Medical professionals and technicians are also
growing to meet the needs of the health care industry. In recent days the health care industry
stakeholder list has expanded from only medical professionals, hospitals, technicians to
manufacturers, policy makers, insurance companies, social networks, analysts and administrators. Lot
of research and technological advancements are happening in the medical industry trying to make
humans almost immortal. Smartphones and personal devices The latest smartphones and wearables

Ethics Of Compassion Essay
Ethics of compassion To help explain the ethics of compassion I will be using reference from the
Dalia Lama s book Ethics for the New Millennium, more specifically chapter ten; The Need for
Discernment, and chapter 5 The Supreme Emotion. I will also refer to Touching Peace, and the five
mindfulness trainings. The Dalia Lama had so many strong points it was hard to find any criticisms in
his philosophies. One thing that concerned me was how he recognizes people who kill and torture for
pleasure. The other point he made that came across as weaker to me or somewhat questionable is that
we are to question whether our motive is genuinely compassionate when considered in relation to the
totality of all beings. As for the strong points keeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dalai Lama felt this to be entirely appropriate, and very necessary, In that it shows two sides of
human potential. I agree with him on this completely and I think the fact they made this memorial like
this makes it more than just a memorial, it is also art. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that the
existence of negative potential does not give us grounds to suppose that human nature is inherently
violent. The next question to think about is, what about those who kill and torture for pleasure? Here
he is talking about people like Hilter, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. In these types of people there is a
lacking of the basic impulse toward care and affection for others. There is a commonality between all
of them, that their schemes were carried out in accordance to a perverted vision. They all have goals
towards which they were working. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that killers come from a
particular society, time and place. Also we should recognize the role of the imaginative faculty in their
actions. Although I can understand these things, I think it comes awful close to making excuses for the
horrible actions that these people have been in charge of. By the use to which this faculty is put
determines whether actions it conceives are positive or negative, ethical or unethical. The individuals

through over the past seventy years, there is almost always a single person who can be credited with

The Importance of Religion in Aztec and Incas Cultures Essay
INTRODUCTION
Religion played a very important role in the Aztec and Inca culture. Religious rituals consisted of
human sacrifice and polytheism. Their deities were inspired by nature and the earth s physical
makeup. Both appear to be similar but peel back the onion and notable differences reveal themselves.
It is difficult for modern day society to understand how human sacrifice can exist in such advanced
civilizations.

The provinces of Collasuyo, Chinchaysuyo, Antisuyo, and Cuntisuyo would bring to this city, from

the statues of the Creator, Sun, Thunder, and Moon that were already in the plaza for this purpose.
They made two turns around them, and after finishing, the Inca summoned the provincial priests and
had the offerings divided into four parts for the four suyos: Collasuyo, Chinchaysuyo, Antisuyo, and

Therefore, the trauma of abortion to some extent affects her mind as she begins experiencing

Maria devastated and with mental instability. She was confined in a Neuropsychiatric Institute after
being associated with BZ s suicidal death. She did not commit suicide herself since she had to hold on

Didion in the novel, Play It as It Lays, also depicts Maria as an undecided woman since she decides to

Summary Of Corn Pone Opinions
The essay by Mark Twain, Corn pone Opinions, describes how many people follow the directions of
others whether they agree with it or not. Also through it s contrasting conformities and independent
verdict of people s ways of thinking, Twain suggests that in order for people to express how they truly
are, they must first trust their own abilities without having to depend on others. This signifies that
every person must have a friend or relative critique his or her style to feel gleeful. Moving forward
three supporting reasons in favor of Mark Twain s predicament describe the equal trends that people

Factors That Has An Effect On Conformity
Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs and behaviours to group norms. Factors that has an
effect on conformity can be culture, age, gender or larger group size. Zimbardo, Johnson, Hamilton
(2014) explained that culture includes language, beliefs, customs, values and traditions. They
mentioned that the social and cultural situation in which the person is rooted to can sometimes be the
strongest factor that influences behaviour. For example, some culture places importance on
punctuality which in turn influences behaviour, such as procrastination or lack of thereof. Indeed, one
of the psychology perspective that psychologists focus on is sociocultural perspective, whereby social

are also stereotyped for being loud mouthed, hypersexualized, cantankerous, having many children,

women are easily considered one of the most severely marginalized groups in the United States
because not only did they have to combat being enslaved which encoded a heavy deal of oppression

How For Participation Can Impact Issues Of Self Esteem,...
According to the website, http://www.merriam webster.com, a trophy is an object (such as a large cup
or sculpture) that is given as a prize for winning a competition. By definition, a trophy should be given
to an individual who is triumphant in a match. However, in today s culture, children are receiving
awards for simply participating in a sport or activity. By allowing this to happen, it raises the question
if it is good or bad for children to receive trophies for not succeeding. Through different articles and
analyses on this issue, I will explain how giving trophies for participation can impact issues of self
esteem, self efficacy and foreshadow children s outcomes.
There are many different aspects of self, such as self concept, self esteem, and self efficacy that may
be hard for an individual to differentiate. According to the textbook, Life Span Human Development,
7th edition, by Carol Sigelman, on page 348, self concept is your perceptions, positive or negative, of
your unique attributes and traits as a person. Self concept generally focuses on who one is as an
individual. An example of this would be a person believing that they are the most beautiful person in
the world, even though others may not have the same opinion. Self esteem differs from self concept
for the reason that self esteem focus on how good the person is in a situation, or in an activity.

Analysis Of Unteaching The Five-Paragraph Essay
This paper is going to talk about the analytical points of the paper, Unteaching the Five Paragraph
Essay, by Marie Foley. Describing this paper is one of the easier things to do because it is talking
about a basic topic, the five paragraph essay. It talks about how the five paragraph essay is good for
beginning writers and how it is a setback for other types of writers. It gives a basic concept of how it
is not the best format for a writer to use; it is not the best way for complex ideas to be shown. I do not
totally agree with it being said that it does not help high school and some college students. I do not
agree with this because there are students in high school who still struggle with writing a basic five
paragraph essay, even

Grecian Influence On Greek Culture
The vividly bold characters of fiction, themes and legends of Greek mythology have molded art and
literature for many centuries. They appear in metaphorical paintings, like Botticelli s Birth of Venus,
or epics like the Illiad and the Odessey, by Homer. They are also revealed in the tragedies of
Sophocles and classics such as Antigone and Oedipus. Romantic poetry and slews of novels, plays,
and films continue to enrich our culture even today. One area of Greek influence that stands out is
their religious practices and myths surrounding their polytheistic beliefs. Greek Mythology is one of
the hallmark focal points in the existence of the Greek culture. Throughout this paper, you will learn
about several of these gods and goddesses and their influence on ancient Grecian peoples and culture
of today. As we explore these ancient deities we should admire their ability to withstand the hands of
time, and their impact on worldwide art, film, novels, and life even today. ... Show more content on

A Bombshell Climate Study
First of all, There is strong evidence that global sea level is getting higher and will continue to rise
during this century. There are some human activities, such as burning of fossil fuels and cutting down
tropical forests, have gained atmospheric absorption of heat trapping gases releases enormous amounts
into the air. It means that the Earth s surface temperature increases, and the oceans absorb that
additional heat. There is no doubt that when the ocean is warmer, large ice formations, like glaciers
and the polar ice caps, naturally melt back faster and add more water to the oceans. The melting ice
caps are raising sea levels at an accelerating rate. According to Howard (2015), A bombshell climate

The Pros And Cons Of Visas In Australia
We will no longer allow 457 visas to be passports to jobs that could and should go to Australians .
This is what Mr Turnbull said in a video posted to Facebook on April 18 this year marking the
beginning to a series of changes to the 457 visa.
The Temporary Work (skilled) (subclass 457) visa is a visa that lets a skilled worker travel to Australia
to work in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor for up to four years (Australian
Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection), most importantly this can only
happen providing that the sponsor could not find an Australian citizen to do the work (The Australian,
April 18, 2017). Earlier this year in April, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the
government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In April, the same month as Mr Turnbull s announcement, the 651 professions eligible for a 457 visa
was cut down to 435 eligible occupations. This 33% cut might appear to be a drastic change, however
18 of these occupations haven t been used in the past decade and include jobs such as deer farmers and
turf growers. Additionally, 46 occupations have never been approved to foreign workers for the twenty
years that the 457 visa has been in place.
Removing occupations such as foreign Ship s masters and picture framers will not return jobs to
Australians. But not only did the government remove these trivial occupations, they also decided to
remove certain scientist, ICT support technicians and engineers.
The IT sector employs the largest percentage of 457 visa workers by field (14.1%) and is one of
Australia s fastest growing industries with a current value of $79 billion projected to grow to $139
billion in 2020 accounting for 7% of Australia s GDP. According to a report released by Deloitte
Access Economics, in Australia there were 640,000 workers employed in IT in 2016, approximately
2% (14,000) of whom were sponsored by the 457 visa. Not only is the problem of foreign workers
stealing our jobs over exaggerated, the report projects that 100,000 more IT workers will need to be
employed in the next five years for Australia to

Summary Of Matrix Of Domination
1. Keller distinguishes between both functional and critical oppositional public intellectuals in his
article. He defines functional as those who serve to reproduce and legitimate the values of existing
societies (Keller). While on the other hand he defines critical oppositional public intellectuals as those
who oppose the existing order and militate for progressive social change (Keller). From the two styles
of theorizing the one that appeals to me would be critical oppositional public intellectual. This style
appeals to me because the domain of this style is to defend and fight for human freedom, fight against
oppression and also injustice. I believe in all of these things and I would be willing to fight for what I

The Alchemist Reflection
Following your heart will set you apart
Have you ever imagined completing a task using only your heart and not being able to rely on other
people, just your heart? In The Alchemist Santiago has a dream he knows he needs to follow and he
knows he can t rely on other people in order to achieve it. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo
Coelho, Santiago learns, Remember where your heart is, there you will find your treasure. First of all,
Santiago works hard with help along the way. Second of all, Santiago has a positive outlook on life.
Last, Santiago accepts things the way they come.
First of all, Santiago works hard with help along the way. For example, while Santiago is sulking
because a thief stole his money outside of a restaurant in Tangier, he remembers the wise words of the
King. Santiago doesn t want to give up and realizes that if he goes for his dream the universe will help
him: When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it (24). Instead of
sulking, he was more positive by being reminded of the king s wise words that motivate him. Santiago
was dwelling on the fact his money was stolen and had the mindset that it was over for him but then
when he is reminded of the king s words he is more motivated to continue his journey. Finally, this is
important because the King was beneficial to Santiago by giving him these wise words, and as a
result, Santiago is reminded of these words and feels more motivated. To conclude, Santiago

Melita Hunter s Song Saa Private Island
There was a point, around 56 years ago, when the small towns along the salient southern Cambodian
coast were the height of style. After a near century of French rule, Cambodia became independent in
1953. By then, the population was over seven million, with most of the population being Buddhist.
Throughout this period the people kept holiday villas in Kep, an appealing village nearing the
Vietnamese border as well as in Sihanoukville. However, the country s serenity was torn to pieces in
1970 as Sihanouk was overthrown. The countries captivating coastal towns transformed into burnt out
villas, wilted wildlife and buildings scarred with sprays of bullet holes.

Despite the raw war wounds and the heart wrenching hopelessness, Cambodian people remained
resilient. With sheer determination, Cambodia began to boom within the late 2000 s, as it became the
fastest growing tourist industry in South East Asia, partly due to the country s incredible architecture.
An Australian couple, Rory and Melita Hunter, founders of Song Saa Private Island Resort were not
daunted by the archipelago s erratic past. The couple fell in love with the islands located within the
warm, azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand, that nestle like glittering natural jewels. Song Saa,
Cambodia s first five stars resort opened in February 2012. It was during the couple s honeymoon
while exploring remote parts of Cambodia, when they came across the unscathed islands of the Koh

hearts Koh Bong, meaning man , and Koh Ouen meaning woman . These two islands lay side by side
within the shimmering sea like lovers, and hence, earned the local name Song Saa , meaning the

OGILVY MATHER
PART 1:
One of the most definitive problems with Charlotte Beers brand stewardship was her communicative
process with upper level management. While it may be true that Beers was able to develop a clear
vision of Brand Stewardship and explain what that meant to her collaborative team thirsty for change,
the idea was only a concept at the end of their meeting summit.
It is essential to the success of any plan that a strategy must first be developed, and to that point,
Charlotte Beers was initially on track. She brought together a team to devise a vision and plan for
what Ogilvy Mather was to become, but she never fully developed what that strategy meant and how
it was to be implemented. This lack of strategy set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clients would be one of the top priorities for Ogilvy Mather because the need to understand the
concept of Brand Stewardship to invest in it, without their support of the idea the concept would be
defunct. The main objects of this communication strategy would be to first and foremost for them to
fully grasp the idea of Brand Stewardship and how it can work for their company. This is integral
because it is not only about understanding, but it s also about knowing the benefits of this service and
what it can do for their company. With the know, I would also want them to understand how Ogilvy
Mather will go about acting out these benefits through strategy and thoughtful planning.
The Core Disciplines play an extremely important role in the Brand Stewardship plan, as they are the
individuals who will be executing the idea. This group would be a priority because if they do not
understand the concept then neither will the client because they are the communicators, they provide
the examples and final product of what Brand Stewardship really is. The main communicative object
for the Core Disciplines would be for them to be able to clearly and concisely define what Brand
Stewardship is. If they are able to explain exactly what the message and concept is, then they will
have completed the first step to proper execution. I would also like them to understand who their
resources are, and what tools are available to them, such

Mongols Influence
Around 1200 1360 B.C in what is now Present day Mongolia lived the Nomads of the Asian Steppe.
Among these Nomads lived the Great Genghis Khan, one of the World s most famous and fiercest
Leaders of all time. In the legend of Temujin s birth, he was born with a blood clot in his fist as a sign
from the Gods saying that he was going to be a fierce leader. The Mongol Empire had a major Positive
impact on History and their people, including the Large rule of the Mongols, the Pax Mongolica, and
lastly the Pony Express.
Genghis Khan had fought his way to the top after successfully winning battle after battle. His amazing
strategies would later shape and develop the Mongol Empire. Genghis Khan would rule over 12
million acres of land, more than any individual in history. But even after his death his ancestors would
still be successful. His sons and grandsons would continue his dream of fully conquering the world,

pearls, carpets, leather goods, silver, live stock, (etc,) could all be found on these trade routes. Laws
like the Yassa (Great law) were put in effect, they made sure that tribal disputes didn t break out into
war. The laws were a major part in trading as well to keep the flow of goods flowing smoothly, theft

Suspense And Parallelism In Lauren Oliver s Before I Fall
Every choice you make has an end result Zig Ziglar. In the novel Before I Fall, the author, Lauren
Oliver, uses repetition, suspense and parallelism to show that one person s life can affect so many
others.
Lauren Oliver uses repetition in the novel Before I Fall to show that one person s life can affect the
life of someone completely unexpected. For example, the main character, Samantha Kingston, dies in
a car accident that she gets into with her friends, the popular girls, except Samantha does not fully die.
Instead, she relives the day of the accident over and over, from morning up until the accident that
night. Which is heavily foreshadowed before the accident when she says Maybe you can afford to
wait. Maybe for you there s a tomorrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Samantha relives February 12th over and over but she lives every day differently. At the beginning she
sees no meaning in the continuous loop and starts to become frustrated and does whatever she wants
with her time on these days because she knows it does not matter that she will wake up and relive it
the next day anyway. This makes the reader curious about when and how Samantha will escape this
deja vu. As the days go on, Samantha and the reader slowly progress together and begin to see the
meaning unfold behind all of this, and both Samantha s and readers questions gradually get answered.
It amazes me how easy it is for things to change, how easy it is to start off down the same road you
always take and wind up somewhere new. Just one false step, one pause, one detour, and you end up
with new friends or a bad reputation or a boyfriend or a break up. It s never occured to me before; I ve
never been able to see it. And it makes me feel, weirdly, like maybe all of these different possibilities
exist at the same time, like each moment we live has a thousand other moments layered underneath it
that look different. Through her thoughts, this shows the character s progression, curiosity, and
different perspectives as the days go on. The leisure pace of this novel keeps the build up of suspense
steady and keeps the reader guessing. The suspense carries through Samantha s final day and final

Death Penalty Should Not Be Legal
Death Penalty, Constitutional or Not Imagine a family member of yours was unjustly framed with
something he didn t commit and he is sentenced to death penalty, how would you feel? Death sentence
has been thrown back and forth with the argument that it is or it is not an acceptable way of punishing.
Offenders are doing what they know best, breaking the law, but the government instead of fixing the
problem by doing something better, the make it worse by taking another life from society, which can
be considered a crime . The death penalty is currently being used by thirty four out of the fifty in the
United States. Death penalty often establishes the question, Does the government have the right to
take away someone s life? When death penalty claim another life, the people that get affected are the
families of the ones being charged. Death penalty does not bring justice in this world, instead it takes
the life of another human being, innocent or not. Death penalty should not exist because it is
unconstitutional and affects the families of the person being charged with a certain case. Death
sentence didn t just come out of the blue, it had to come from somewhere and what inspired its
creation The death penalty was established in the Eighteenth century, when Captain George Kendall
became the first person to be executed in 1608. The death penalty dated back to when King
Hammurabi existed as stated here. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org stated, The first established

ME 9447 Force Table, 3 pulleys and pulley clamps, 3 mass hangers, mass set, string, metric ruler,
protractor, 2 sheets of paper.
B. Procedure
Experimental Method
As a result of trail and error method we find the angle for the third pulley and the mass that should had
be suspended from it. This will balance the forces deployed on the strings due to the other two masses.
While the third force is defined as the equilibrant (⃗) Since it is the force
that establishes the equilibrium. It is also the negative of the resultant ⃗ =
⃗ = ⃗ + ⃗. We
gathered and recorded the mass and the angle required for the third pulley to enable to put the system
into the equilibrium in table 1.
To enable to determine the system is in equilibrium we use the following specifications.
Ring Method of Finding Equilibrium
For this method the ring should be centered over the post when the system is in equilibrium. So we
tack the center post down so it will flush with the top surface of the force table and it will be no longer
comptent to hold the ring in the position. We also pulled the ring slightly to the one side and release it
to enable to inspect that the ring returns to the center. Then if not, adjust the mass or/and the angle of
the pulley until the ring constantly returns to the center when it is pulled slightly to one side.
Anchor String Method of Finding

  • 2. The Relationship Between Birth Order and Intelligence Essays Debates on the relationship between birth order and intelligence have been remaining controversial. Birth order is considered as a person s ranking by age among his or her siblings. There have been numerous researchers studying about this subject to find whether firstborns generally have a higher IQ scores than their siblings. Some scientists conclude that birth order strongly influents intelligence; however, others oppose to this, claiming that birth order has no effect on intelligence. In this paper, my study deals with the birth order effects on intelligence. Investigation about the birth order effects first started in the late nineteenth century. Several researchers have claimed that the relation between birth order and intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some critics argue that three points do not seem like much; however, the impact can be enormous. Just 2.3 IQ points can correlate to a 15 point difference in SAT scores, which makes an even bigger difference when you re an Ivy League applicant with a 690 verbal score going head to head against someone with a 705. (Kluger). Some people suggest that the difference of IQ scores varies by family and does not show up in all family. The scientists then looked at I.Q. scores in 63,951 pairs of brothers, and found the same results. (Carey). To make sure the difference is not due to biological aspects, the researchers examined the scores of young men who became the eldest in the household after an older sibling had died. Their scores came out the same, on average, as those of biological firstborns. (Carey). Although there are a number of scientists supporting for the idea of being the firstborns is beneficial and advantageous, recent studies assert that the effects of birth order no longer are significant. The children s intelligence depends on many factors such as family size, child spacing, prenatal factors, gestational factors, not only birth order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effects Of American Imperialism The domination of a country s or region s political, cultural, or economic life by one country is called imperialism. (Esler, page. 632) European imperialism began in the 1800s. European nations won empires in the Americas after1492, established colonies in India and Southeast Asia, and gained toeholds on the coast of Africa and China. Despite these gains, between 1500 and 1800, Europe had little influence on the lives of the peoples of China, India or Africa. (Esler, page.632) Then the Europeans industrialized and believe western cultures were superior to all other. They felt the other countries were inferior to them and began the spread of westernization. There were many causes of imperialism. A major cause of imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They applied Darwin s ideas about natural selection and the survival of the fittest to human societies and nations. (Esler, page. 633) Natural selection is when individuals or organisms that are better suited to their environment survive a reproduce the most successfully. European believed they were superior to all other countries. They set out to spread western cultures and millions were robbed of their own culture. The British East India Company gained trading rights on the Mughal empire. The company expanded its influence; it controlled three fifths of India by the mid 1800s, as the Mughal power declined. India was not able to unite because there were too many languages and cultures. Even though many effects of the East India Company were negative, many positive effects came out of it too. The East India Company s main goal in India was to make money, and leading officials often got very rich. At the same time, the company did work to improve roads, preserve peace, and reduce banditry. (Esler, pg. 633) British officials introduced western education, pressed for social change, missionaries tried to convert Indians to Christianity, tried to end slavery, the caste system, and improve the position of women within the family. Indians resisted British domination. British hurt the business class, by not allowing them in large scaling manufacturing. They also kept educated Indians out of high posts. • 4. Negative Effects Of Solar Eclipses With the impending solar eclipse set to darken the skies briefly on Monday afternoon, physicians across the country are preparing to treat cases of optical damage caused by glaring at the dark sun. Unfortunately, many people believe that because the sun is blocked, it blocks the harmful ultraviolet rays from reaching one s eyes, but that is not the case. Assistant professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Tamara S. Oechslin, explains it is never safe to stare directly into the sun, and that includes during the eclipse (Janarthanan). But, these eclipses have been occurring for thousands of years. In fact, the ancient Chinese believed that solar eclipses were dragons devouring the sun (NASA). Obviously, the general population has come to a much stronger understanding of what a solar eclipse entails, but they do not necessarily follow guidance related to viewing the eclipse. In 1999, a solar eclipse occurred and several thousand people rang helplines or attended special eclipse clinics (Dobson). However, the number of cases of solar retinopathy than was widely feared (Dobson). Solar retinopathy is the damage caused by someone looking at the sun with improper or no eye protection. The retina, the home of light sensing cells, is then damaged by the harmful rays of the sun. Treatment to try and heal the effects of solar retinopathy has proven ineffective (Dobson). Eyes are similar to the brain in terms of traumatic injury. Once a vital organ has been harmed, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Identifying An Unknown Substance Can Be Accomplished With... Data Analysis Identifying an unknown substance can be accomplished with the use of multiple scientific tests. Conducting these experiments will narrow down the possibilities of the unknown compound. The number of the unknown substance that I was given was A84841BIR, It posed to be a challenge since I needed to test three different molecular combinations for this specific substance. Once the number of moles the in substance was calculated using the ideal gas law, I divided it from the sample mass number. After vaporizing away the unknown compound, I then concluded that the molarity of my unknown chemical was 58.93 g/mol. To find my molecular formula I calculated the mass of each element, then the moles, lastly I took the smallest whole number ratio. Using the molarity calculated I was able to do some research to get a better understanding of what my unknown chemical could be. Once I have collected all my data together and researched the Internet for articles relating to understanding Infa Red spectroscopy, I should be able to make an educated guess upon what my unknown solution could be. The first step was to calculate the molecular formula, using the given masses on the combustion worksheet. Using the ideal gas law, I converted the given grams to moles. The next step was to find out the amount of oxygen in the combustion, then after more calculations, I was able to plug my value into the ideal gas law and find the molecular weight. After calculating the molecular formula I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Civil Argument Of Epistemology For decades, there has been an open deliberation over whether knowledge is intrinsic or if it springs itself from life experiences: the civil argument of epistemology. Epistemology is the investigation of knowledge and its techniques and legitimacy. Individuals from philosophers to scientists to psychologists have argued their perspectives, yet even today the contention is not yet settled. Personally, I believe that it bodes well for knowledge to originate from experiences. Three philosophers that are solid proponents for the belief that knowledge is derived from experiences are Gaston Bachelard, Immanuel Kant, and John Locke. One of the great epistemologists was Gaston Bachelard who was more commonly known as a philosopher of science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant concurred with empiricists that concepts without perceptions are empty (lonestar). He acknowledged that concepts and ideas cannot constitute knowledge alone and that innate ideas do not constitute knowledge at all. This brought about his conviction that there must be experience(s) in life for there to be knowledge. His theory was that there are two sorts of reasoning to acquire knowledge: posteriori reasoning and priori reasoning. The posteriori reasoning depends upon experience in the world that provides us with information. For example, if I said that Barack Obama was the president of the United States in 2010, I would only know that this is true through experience; I would not be able to determine this through an analysis of the concepts of president or Barack Obama. In contrast, a priori reasoning does not rely on experience to inform it, but to create the knowledge. Kant believed that with priori reasoning, the dynamic mind relates and understands experiences in terms of causes and effects where an event takes place and causes an experience to happen with the effect of knowledge being gained. Kant s crucial insight here is to argue that experience of a world as we have it is only conceivable if the psyche provides an efficient organizing of its representations; the mind makes deductions prior to experiences, but can only truly experience something in the event that it obtains knowledge from the ... • 7. The Presidential Selection Of 1860 The presidential selection of 1860 set the stage for the American Civil war. By 1860, the nation had been at odds mostly up to that point regarding questions of states rights and slavery in the territories. Southerners were livid over the preparation by an abolitionist, John Brown, to establish a slave uprising at Harper Ferry, Virginia. This event garnered headlines all over the nation in newspapers and magazines. On the other hand, the Northern Republic seemed equally infuriated by the Supreme Court verdict in the case of Dred Scott v. Stanford, which affirmed free soil unconstitutional. The Northern Democrats, however, struggled to convince the Americans that their guidelines of popular sovereignty still made sense. Enter the presidential election of 1860, which brought these tribulations to a clash with dramatic cost. The Democratic Party divided into three groups along their provincial lines, with each person vying for control of the party and each holding dissimilar ideas about how to deal with servitude in the West. Their candidates consisted of John C. Breckinride, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas; their efforts would be rubbish, however, as Abraham Lincoln would be triumphant for the Republican Party. Lincoln stood on the grounds that the West should be completely liberated of slavery entirely; which apparently was sufficient as he won the election with less than forty percent of the popular vote. • 9. Karl Marx And Karl Polanyi Adam Smith, Karl Marx and Karl Polanyi are writer of capitalism, that have influenced capitalism in different ways to making capitalism what it is today. Adam Smith known as the father of the political economy, developed the concept of the invisible hand; which explains how self interest and competition in a free market economy, would allow economy prosperity. Another concept Smit developed is division of labour which say that jobs a business should be specialised, instead of one person having to carry out all the processes. However, critics of the invisible hand say that it is not as strong as it was in the time of Smith, due to large powerful cooperation, effective marketing system and inefficient financial market blocks the mechanism of the invisible hand which does not allow the scare resources to be used at their best use. An example is of the invisible hand in works is, say if a candle maker sells one candle stick for £1 but, another candle maker sells 3 sets of candles for £2, it would mean he would get all the business making the other candle maker lose out and make even run out of business. So, to compensate the lose the candle marker would be forced lower his prices to survive and not get out of business, therefore, the candle maker is guided by the invisible hand being his self interest to gain profit to lower his prices. Division of labour another, one of Adam Smith s concepts explains that productive power of workers would increases each worker would have a specialised job to carry out and in turn would allow increase number of output to be produced. Smith further, says that division of labour is not something that is regulated by an authority, instead it is human nature. As what make us human is our propensity to truck, barter and exchange items, which gives us assurance to be able to trade what we have produced goes on to encourage division of labour. Health care contributes to a significant part of any country s economy. As per Wikipedia, In 2011, the health care industry consumed an average of 9.3 percent of the GDP or US$ 3,322 per capita across the 34 members of OECD countries. Many life threatening diseases which was a major risk for the human community a decade ago, are preventable or curable in present day. For example, small pox which was a huge danger few decades ago was completely eradicated worldwide in 1980s due to the health care industry advancement and intervention. The cost of medical equipment, treatment, professionals was sky scraping earlier and was affordable only to the elite sector of the society. Nowadays, medical devices are made very simple and cost effective which has made it more accessible for common people around the globe. Medical professionals and technicians are also growing to meet the needs of the health care industry. In recent days the health care industry stakeholder list has expanded from only medical professionals, hospitals, technicians to manufacturers, policy makers, insurance companies, social networks, analysts and administrators. Ethics Of Compassion Essay Ethics of compassion To help explain the ethics of compassion I will be using reference from the Dalia Lama s book Ethics for the New Millennium, more specifically chapter ten; The Need for Discernment, and chapter 5 The Supreme Emotion. I will also refer to Touching Peace, and the five mindfulness trainings. The Dalia Lama had so many strong points it was hard to find any criticisms in his philosophies. One thing that concerned me was how he recognizes people who kill and torture for pleasure. The other point he made that came across as weaker to me or somewhat questionable is that we are to question whether our motive is genuinely compassionate when considered in relation to the totality of all beings. As for the strong points keeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Dalai Lama felt this to be entirely appropriate, and very necessary, In that it shows two sides of human potential. I agree with him on this completely and I think the fact they made this memorial like this makes it more than just a memorial, it is also art. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that the existence of negative potential does not give us grounds to suppose that human nature is inherently violent. The next question to think about is, what about those who kill and torture for pleasure? Here he is talking about people like Hilter, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. In these types of people there is a lacking of the basic impulse toward care and affection for others. There is a commonality between all of them, that their schemes were carried out in accordance to a perverted vision. They all have goals towards which they were working. The Dalia Lama wants us to understand that killers come from a particular society, time and place. Also we should recognize the role of the imaginative faculty in their actions. Although I can understand these things, I think it comes awful close to making excuses for the horrible actions that these people have been in charge of. By the use to which this faculty is put determines whether actions it conceives are positive or negative, ethical or unethical. The individuals motivation in this is known as Kun ... More than any other type of music, it places special emphasis on innovative individual interpretation. Instead of relying on a written score, the musician improvises. For each specific period or style through which jazz has gone through over the past seventy years, there is almost always a single person who can be credited with the evolution of that sound. After graduating from high school in High Point, he moved to Philadelphia in 1943, where he lived in a small one room apartment and worked as a laborer in a sugar refinery. For a year, Coltrane attended Ornstein School of Music. Then in 1945, he was drafted into the Navy and sent to Hawaii where he was assigned to play clarinet in a band called the Melody Makers. Upon his return from Hawaii a year later, Coltrane launched his music career. With all those years of constant practice in High Point behind him, possessing a powerful inner strength from being raised in a deeply religious family, and with a foundation in musical theory and an innate curiosity about life, Coltrane was well prepared to seriously enter a battle. In the late nineteen forties, Coltrane began playing with several different R B groups in small bars and clubs around Philadelphia. It became a tradition in many of the clubs at this time for musicians to walk the bar (i.e. to walk on top of the bar while playing one s instrument). Significance: Black women are easily considered one of the most severely marginalized groups in the United States because not only did they have to combat being enslaved which encoded a heavy deal of oppression on its own they also had to fight the term Jezebel which was a way of creating a huge gap between white women and black women. • 20. How For Participation Can Impact Issues Of Self Esteem,... According to the website, http://www.merriam webster.com, a trophy is an object (such as a large cup or sculpture) that is given as a prize for winning a competition. By definition, a trophy should be given to an individual who is triumphant in a match. However, in today s culture, children are receiving awards for simply participating in a sport or activity. By allowing this to happen, it raises the question if it is good or bad for children to receive trophies for not succeeding. Through different articles and analyses on this issue, I will explain how giving trophies for participation can impact issues of self esteem, self efficacy and foreshadow children s outcomes. There are many different aspects of self, such as self concept, self esteem, and self efficacy that may be hard for an individual to differentiate. According to the textbook, Life Span Human Development, 7th edition, by Carol Sigelman, on page 348, self concept is your perceptions, positive or negative, of your unique attributes and traits as a person. Self concept generally focuses on who one is as an individual. An example of this would be a person believing that they are the most beautiful person in the world, even though others may not have the same opinion. To enable to determine the system is in equilibrium we use the following specifications. Ring Method of Finding Equilibrium For this method the ring should be centered over the post when the system is in equilibrium. So we tack the center post down so it will flush with the top surface of the force table and it will be no longer comptent to hold the ring in the position. We also pulled the ring slightly to the one side and release it to enable to inspect that the ring returns to the center. Then if not, adjust the mass or/and the angle of the pulley until the ring constantly returns to the center when it is pulled slightly to one side. Anchor String Method of Finding ...
