9. What did you take away from the reading on sustainability? The crucial long-term sustainability question for OE projects appears to be “How do we acquire an adequate and ongoing stream of financial resources to keep our project running?”. This leads immediately to considering various tactical programs to generate revenue; unfortunately, such programs often fail. The …view is that a tactical approach is myopic because it focuses too much attention on the “product”—the features of the project and the technology underlying it—and not enough attention on understanding the users and working deliberately to grow their value. 9 Source: Baraniuk, R.
