 Actions, activities and jobs. In Spanish, we
use it with the general sense of “realizar”. In
general, the actions and acitivities do not
orduce a pysical object.
 We use "do" when we are speaking in
general, that is to say, when we do not
specify what activity are we referring to. In
this sense, it is often accompanied by
indefinite pronouns such as "something",
"anything", "nothing", etc.
 We use “make” with the sense of “fabricar”,
“elaborar” or “crear”. We use this verbs to
talk about activities in which we create
something that can be touched, a physical
object.

Difference between "to make" and "to do"

  • 1.
  • 2.  Actions, activities and jobs. In Spanish, we use it with the general sense of “realizar”. In general, the actions and acitivities do not orduce a pysical object.  We use "do" when we are speaking in general, that is to say, when we do not specify what activity are we referring to. In this sense, it is often accompanied by indefinite pronouns such as "something", "anything", "nothing", etc.
  • 3.  We use “make” with the sense of “fabricar”, “elaborar” or “crear”. We use this verbs to talk about activities in which we create something that can be touched, a physical object.
  • 4.  do good (hacer el bien)  do right (hacer bien)  do wrong (hacer mal)  do damage (hacer daño)  do one's best (hacer lo posible)  do a favor (hacer un favor)  do justice (hacer justicia)  do research (investigar)  do harm (hacer daño)  do business (hacer negocios)  do one's hair (arreglarse el pelo)  do wonders (hacer maravillas)
  • 5.  make a decision (tomar una decisión)  make a choice (hacer una elección)  make a plan (trazar/hacer un plan)  make arrangements (hacer preparativos)  make an appointment (pedir cita/hora, concertar una cita)  make a mistake (cometer un error)  make money (ganar dinero)  make an excuse (dar una excusa)  make an effort (hacer un esfuerzo)  make an attempt (hacer un intento)  make fun of (reírse/burlarse de)  make progress (hacer progresos)  make an offer (hacer una oferta)
