A 71-year-old Asian man presented with sudden vision loss in his right eye and headaches. He was diagnosed with central retinal artery occlusion based on examination findings including pallor of the optic disc and attenuation of the retinal arteries. Laboratory tests and imaging found mild plaque in the carotid artery but no other embolic source. The patient's vision partially recovered over the following weeks but remained significantly reduced.
