Autobiographical Memory Analysis
Autobiographical memory is the memory of a person s life events and information (Fossati, 2013).
One process that affects the accuracy of memory is coherence. Although, coherence is essential to
maintain self esteem, self beliefs, and a stable sense of self (Conway, 2005). Individuals sometimes
desire super memory due to memory fallibility. There are people who have superior memories such as
individuals with Highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM). Unfortunately, possessing such a
memory comes with severe consequences, which renders super memory less appealing, especially as
memories have such a significant influence on the self (James, 1950).
Human memory can be changed, biased or even completely fabricated (Conway et al., 2004). ... Show

Studies of extreme violations of coherence show the vast importance of coherence to maintaining a
self that can operate effectively in the world (Conway, 2005). Baddeley et al (1996) reported cases
regarding hospitalised schizophrenics that illustrates this. In one case, a man truly believed he was a
famous rock guitarist despite knowing he could not play guitar. Another patient believed he was a
Russian chess grand master even though he could not speak Russian, nor had he been there, and he
was often beaten at the game by other patients. Furthermore, Downes and Mayes (1994) reported a
case regarding a man with a neuropsychological disorder. He was convinced he could remember
having a terrible argument with his father the day before, although, he could also remember attending
his father funeral years earlier.
Instances such as this highlight the importance of coherence to healthy individuals. Individuals with a
coherent self are more likely to have high self esteem, and increased well being (Csikzentmilhalkyi
and Baettie, 1979). Finally, when the self is in line with the past the individual can be effective,
achieve goals and relate to others (Bluck and Habermas,

The Father Of Texas By Stephen F. Austin Essay
Every Texan knows the legends of Stephen F. Austin that lead him to become the Father of Texas. Few
Texas would try to say anyone else deserves this honor even though Texas is not short of larger than
life legends. Such names include Lorenzo Zavala, Thomas Rusk, Juan Seguin, William Travis, James
Bowie, and Sam Houston. Even In his eulogy for Austin, Houston called him, The Father of Texas
(Areas of Interest). But despite this many would argue that Houston deserves the title.
To understand how became a Texas Hero we must first explore the struggles that lead him to Texas
and eventually. Houston s early years where less than promising despite being named after his famous
father. Houston disliked working on the family farm and going to school. When given the chance to
leave the hard work of the farm and work as a clerk Houston choose to runaway. When he ran away
meet with and was accepted into the Cherokee tribe not far from his family s farm. Here he found
comfort and acceptance in the tribe. Years later he returned to the white settlement becoming a teacher
and then joining the Tennessee Militia. Later he would serve in the United States House of
Representatives. In 1829 Houston married Eliza Allen of Tennessee, however the marriage was short
lived. After Houston s failed marriage he resigned his office and headed west out of Tennessee where
he rejoined living with the Cherokee. However, this time he returned depressed and took to drinking

Themes Of Women In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae
Imagine looking in the mirror every day and not being able to recognize yourself. Going out in public
only to be mocked and insulted. Then ponder about how it would feel to be pushed and locked away
by your own parents. Most people would not enjoy the sound of being socially unacceptable in the
world they live in. But years ago women felt discouraged by the outside world. If women didn t meet
the expectations of others they would became an outcast. They were expected to only take care of the
house and kids. Do to these ways of thinking women were left under educated and a prisoner in their
own home. For the women who didn t fit in or had physical disorder they were labelled as freaks.
In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae , a young girl/ monster is hidden away from the world because
her family will not accept her appearance. While her parents thought keeping her locked up in the
house was a beneficial decision, she became isolated and lacked the knowledge and understanding of
the world outside her four walls. Even though Lusus Naturae is a dark, twisted, and frightening tale
there is more to the story than just a freak of nature being hidden from the world. One must read the
story more in depth and closer to illustrate the themes of women s roles in society in relation to the
monster. Margaret Atwood uses symbolic parallels and narrative tones to exemplify her views of
women s historical roles in society.
The time and setting of Lusus Naturae plays along with women s

Dhl Case Analysis
Overview
It is now 1991, DHL has established its role as the industrial leader in internaitonal express courier.
However, the environment is changing rapidly. The air express giant is now facing fierce competitions
like never before. With main competitors like FedEx, TNT, and UPS trying to acquire capacities and
undercut DHL s price, price has dropped 5% each year from 1985 to 1990 by estimation, with extreme
drops in some markets. Margins are being squeezed as a result. To maintain its advantage in the
market, DHL is facing some important decisions such as price setting strategies and decision structure.
Needless to say, DHL is making some crucial choices here. A right step will lead to better profitability

The contribution of each local operation was calculated by subtracting local costs from revenue. This
implies that, the P L is calculated by deducting the cost incurred within their region from the revenue
of that region. Revenue is recognized at the location where a shipment was originated. This system is
unreasonable in the sense that it did not consider the costs to other country operations of delivery and
whether the selling price was sufficient to cover the cost of pickup, line haul, hub transfer, delivery,
and headquarters overhead and management costs. Therefore, a region s revenue is not being matched
with its costs. Its real cost should include all costs along the way of sending its documents or parcels
to their destinations. For regions with higher incoming traffic, this system assigns a higher cost to it.
The higher cost will distort management s incentive to maximize profit. If use MR=MC to calculate
optimal price, the region s MC will become higher than its real MC, resulting in a higher price, and it
is not the real profit maximizing price.
So, in order to provide the incentive for management to carry out a price that maximize the profit, the
cost accounting structure must be changed. The company must find out the cost at each step of the
transporting, and then add them up to get the total MC of a certain route. This requires DHL to
improve its accounting IT system PRISM.
Problematic PRISM
PRISM costs were based on historical

Nike Of Samothrace Greek Goddess Comparison
Nike of Samothrace is a sculpture from 190 BCE, first found on Samothrace, a Greek island, in 1863.
This statue is a female figure with wings, wearing a flowing gown. It s said to represent Nike, the
Greek Goddess of Victory, and her winning in battle. It shows various elements of the Hellenistic
period, such as the use of space and dimension. The Snake Goddess is a 1600 BCE figurine found in
1903, in Knossos, Crete by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans. It s made of Faience, a glass like
material, and it shows a large breasted women whose holding two snakes on each of her hands
supporting a feline like figure on her head, and it s wearing what seems to be a long layered skirt with
a metal looking accessory or girdle on her waist. The biggest similarity between these two sculptures
is that both represent femininity through this new sensual female form as well as strength, and both

Her complex clothing calls attention to her exposed breast, very slim waist and wide hips,
exaggerating her sexual features. These exaggerated features are caused by her ornamental dress. The
naturalism shown in this sculpture is common in Minoan art, just as the patterns, colors and folds
bring the typical Minoan dresses alive. Her body is mostly proportional, except for her hands which
seem to be too small for her body. Not a common detail on Minoan sculptures so it s most likely not
intentional. The Nike of Samothrace is an example of Hellenistic sculpture. Nike s wings are open and
the diagonal thrust of her body makes it seem as if she s turning while moving forward. The details on
the marble show her gown still tugged by the breeze created as she landed on the front of a ship. Her
body is farily Classical, except for the thickness of her hips. The texture of her feathers, the flutter of
her clothing and the openness of her body gives an illusion that captures attention as never

Enterprise Data Analysis And Visualization
Enterprise Data Analysis and Visualization: An Interview Study ABSTRACT Organizations rely on
data analysts to model customer engagement, streamline operations, improve production, inform
business decisions, and combat fraud. Numerous analysis and visualization advanced tools available
for analysts to work, but there are little research goes on how analysis happens in companies. To better
understand the enterprise analysts ecosystem, we conducted semi structured interviews with 35 data
analysts from 25 organizations. Based on our interview data, we characterize the process of industrial
data analysis and document how organizational features of an enterprise impact it. We describe
recurring pain points, outstanding challenges, and barriers to adoption for visual analytic tools.
INTRODUCTION: The researchers conducted semi structured interviews with 35 analysts from
various sectors. They asked analysts to walk them through the typical tasks they perform, the tools
analysts use, the challenges they encounter, and the organizational context in which analysis takes
place. In this paper, we present the results and analysis of these interviews. The respondents are well
described by three archetypes. We find that these archetypes vary widely in programming proficiency,
reliance on Information technology (IT) staff and diversity of tasks, and vary less in statistical
proficiency. We describe how collaboration takes place between analysts. We find that analysts seldom

The Odyssey Conniving Calypso
Conniving Calypso
I had lived on my luxurious island for many years. My island is filled with life and colorful blossoms.
With all the plants and beauty, the only people on my island are young women. Everyday, my
beautiful, young maids and I awaited the arrival of a man or woman lost at sea. For years we waited,
no person ever washing upon our shore. All we longed was a new friend, or man to get lost at sea and
wash up on our island for us to care for and love.
When a stranger showed up on my island after swimming in the ocean, I kindly took him in. No one
ever visits my wondrous island, and no one ever leaves my island. He told me of how his men killed
Helios forbidden cattle and Zeus destroyed his ship as a punishment for this forbidden act. He told me
that he had been swimming for days, his ship destroyed and all his loyal men killed. I began to care
for him as a mother cares for their child, bathing them in a warm tub of water, feeding them warm
soup made in the kitchen and putting them to sleep in a warm, comforting bed, as soft as a pillow that
swallows them when they sleep. I gave him everything he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

watch in horror as he is whisked into the sea. I stare in awe as a sea nymph saves the great Odysseus
with a powerful veil and he washes ashore only to be saved by another women. A beautiful, women

Social And Social Changes In Japan During The Tokugawa Period
Firstly, Japan s political structure was transformed to really large extent during the Meiji era as it
brought about changes such as in the manner of governing the people, parliament structure as well as
the reform in policies that the Japanese were forced to sign with the Western powers such as the
United States of America and Great Britain. During the Tokugawa period the Emperor Meiji limited
the power of the samurai removing exclusive rights such as their right to punish commoners and he
also removed their right to be the only armed force in Japan, in favour of westernized military with
several different armed sections. In addition, the Emperor sent scholars to Britain, France and
Germany to study their parliament as well as study the way these Western nations operated.
Eventually the Emperor appointed Ito Hirobumi to select an adequate constitution for the new empire
of Japan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

identities which helped raise the standard of living in Japan. In 1884 an important man named Mori
Arinori became the Minister of Education for Japan. He restructured the school system which stayed
in place for sixty years. As well, he established the Imperial University which was later renamed the
Tokyo University. These changes that were made influenced people all over Japan. The government
believed that Japan would become a more powerful country if their citizens were educated. The
government taught values such as national identity and loyalty to the Emperor. This helped unite

Kant On Good Will
Nothing is good without limitation, except good will.
Our character traits, temperament, and talents can be good or evil, beneficial or harmful.
Even our good fortune (properties we are born into or receive by chance) can be used for good or
arrogantly; good will bends it to good purpose.
Anyone (rational impartial spectator) would be dissatisfied upon seeing another person lacking good
will yet enjoying life s riches.
Thus, good will is a necessary condition for deserving happiness.
Even those qualities (here he considers moderation, self control, and sober reflection) which support
good will cannot be held as absolutely good (good without limitation); they still require a good will.
Good will has supreme value by virtue of its consideration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
Surely, then, reason serves not the aim of happiness, but another aim for existence possessing much
more dignity.
This other aim is the highest good, for which reason is a necessary ingredient. For natural ends,
instinct (drives to satisfy hunger, thirst, and the need for shelter) is sufficient; however, the greatest
good demands reason. This is so because the greatest good may adversely affect the individual who by
reason is contemplating a course of action.
Kant then discusses the concept of duty: does it always serve the good, or can it also be self serving?
Even the preservation of life must be considered as either conforming with duty or arising from duty, a
moral obligation. Thus, only actions which have moral value can be sufficiently described as duty.
Happiness is a powerful motivator; lack thereof can lead one to violate one s duties.
Motivation to satisfy one inclination and achieve happiness in the present can outweigh consideration
of a later (i.e., more distant temporally) consequence. Abiding by one s duty to achieve happiness
provides moral value.
Thus, love as a duty can be commanded; such love is practical and based on the will not melting

Mentally Ill And Violent Crimes
Abstract
In recent years, there has been a connection linked with individuals who are mentally ill and violent
crimes that occur within them. Mental Illness is often associated with why people commit crimes. A
person that is considered mentally ill will sometimes steer in the direction of violence. Mental illness
is a term in history that refers collectively to all mental disorders that are diagnosable. Schizophrenia
has been labeled as the most common mental disorder individuals have for the reason to why they
commit violent crimes. Schizophrenia is a very serious mental disorder in which a person cannot think
or behave normally and often experience delusions.
Keywords: Schizophrenia, Delusions, Substance Abuse, Murder, Hallucinations, Treatment
Mental Illness and Crime
Crimes are illegal acts committed by people from all walks of life, such as: rich people, poor people,
young people, old people, normal people, or mentally ill people. Many people have their own reasons
for committing crimes, but mentally ill individuals sometimes unknowingly, commit crimes or acts of
violence. The reasons and purpose of the research is to identify the most commonly known mental
disorders associated with violence and crime. It is important to research this topic because individuals
who are mentally ill and sick are more prone to commit a crime more than the normal individual.
Studies and tests should be applicable as to why this is accurate. Mental Illness alludes to a

Difference Between Working Class And Poor Mothers
For working class and poor mothers, intensive mothering and consumerism are still equally linked to
their view of themselves as good mothers. The only difference between working class and poor
mothers versus middle and upper class women is that the working class/poor have to work harder to
attain the good mother status. According to Takseva (2014), Children can be used as an object of
display conferring the desired social status (p.224) and, Membership in a group is often defined
through the purchasing of goods and services (p.225). Therefore, mothers who do not present their
children in the best clothes or toys are seen as bad mothers, so mothers of the lower classes have to
work harder to ascribe their children the same status as the children in upper classes. Many working
class mothers experience guilt that due to the lack of financial resources they are not being good
mothers because they cannot provide their children with the same life chances that they would if they
had more money (Takseva, 2014, p.227). These mothers find alternative strategies to define
themselves as good mothers such as knowing where and when to shop for bargains, and actively
engaging their children into understanding what products can/cannot be purchased so that they have
realistic expectations (Takseva, 2014, p.227). However, on the other extreme intensive mothering is so
prevalent in today s society that, Parents will go against their better judgment about budgets, in the

Analyzing the Fiscal Budget of the City of Ukiah and...
Introduction
This paper will analyse the 2013/14 Fiscal budgets the City of Ukiah and California City. I will
attempt to examine the similarities and differences of both these cites revenue and expenditure line
items in their budgets. The cities are similar in that they generate revenue from many of the same
resources and they have similar expenditures in their annual fiscal budget. However, the cities budgets
strategies are different because both these cities demographics, social, economic, political platform,
and historical characteristics guide both cities elected official s decisions during the budget process.
History
California City was incorporated on December 8, 1965 (City of California, 2013). Before the City was
incorporated, it was transformed from a vast area of natural desert and farmland open space, into a
new kind of living environment. In 1776, the first explorers in the City of California were Paiute
Indians under leadership of Father Francisco Grarces. During this time, the Conquistadores are
believed to have hired Paiute Indians to help conduct mining operations in the territory.
At the end of the century, sheep farming began at the Conklin Ranch, and today, this ranch is located
in the central portion of the City. Later, in the 1900s, the city was ineffective in its attempt to
manufacture cotton and grow alfalfa. In 1958, private land development activities begun when a group
of developers started purchasing land in the eastern portion of the city. By the

Jessie Pope War Women Analysis
Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars have
greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems written about
the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender roles, gender
relations on what means to be a man or a woman impacted greatly during this time. In particular with
World War I, women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the men were out
fighting. Questions on what is femininity and what is masculinity were on the rise. Men were
constantly fed with the idea that they should be drafted into the war. This propaganda was seen

because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the poem as it
follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is controversial to
the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a man more than a
woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed during the wartime. The
usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with masculinity but it is used in the poem to
describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be related to toil because Pope mentions a girl
who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical hard work of the woman is to be revered
according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it
explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is
made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her
confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. The shift in
the gender roles is empowering for women during the wartime and Pope associates this with
patriotism as well. The heavy van the girl is driving is especially described as heavy because women

that she is one of the best people at their job. Her fantasy begins in a place where most rape assaults

climb onto her balcony on the 18th floor, coming into her apartment and stealing her body. Like most
rape cases she did use force of resistance so she allowed him to finish the act of trying to overpower
someone. This gives me the assumption that rape to her takes place in a comfortable environment.
Were you?re helpless and feel that there is no importance to resisting. The thing that sticks out about
rape to her is how the person gets to you. In the story she gave more details about that than the rape its

How Does Plath Use Metaphors In Munich Mannequins
Plath s use of metaphor is effective in highlighting her depressive state, Plath often used metaphors
frequently and used them as a contrast to her own reality. Through Plath s poetry, we understand that
she was conflicted about being a woman and often viewed the world with a very childlike mindset.
Plath s poem The Munich Mannequins , is a poem which floats between two images of womanly
barrenness through the image of anonymous mannequins to the hotels of Munich where the occupants
are just as anonymous as the mannequins we are introduced to in the first few stanzas. The anonymous

Five Cinematic Techniques In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
In Rear Window, by Alfred Hitchcock, Jeff, a photographer in New York City, breaks his leg while
trying to take a photo at an auto race and gets stuck in his apartment until his leg heals. To pass the
time, Jeff spies on his neighbors with his photo lenses. However, while in the process of spying on his
neighbors, the Thorwalds, he suspects that a gruesome murder may have taken place in the household.
In Rear Window, Hitchcock creates a suspenseful tone by utilizing five cinematic terms: sound effects,
zoom shot, reaction shot, symbol, and point of view. In the beginning of Rear Window, while Jeff is
spying on his neighbors, he hears the melodious piano keys of a fun loving composer, the sweet
nothings of newlyweds, and the bickering of the Thorwalds, a middle aged married couple.
Immediately, the audience senses that something is not right with the Thorwalds, when Hitchcock
juxtaposes the sweet sound of the neighbors with the Thorwald s constant squabbling. Thus,
Hitchcock uses sound effects to make the viewer question the relationship of the Thorwalds, and
creates a suspenseful tone with the Thorwald s constant bickering. As the movie Rear Window

and how it can be applied to the moral dilemma that Tuff faced. He now had people on his side, this
allowed him to gain emotional momentum which led him to speaking to the press shortly after he met
with his co workers. As far as reversibility applies to this examination, we could deduce that Tuff felt
that his actions would be just in that it would apply to him if the table was turned and he was an
innocent bystander waiting to bit hit by a drunk driver. Reversibility leads us to challenge the amount
of moral worth in the sense of duty that Tuff had to his oath, and to society. There is no doubt Tuff felt
that his duties as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a sworn in security guard outweighed the conduct
and vision of the policy makers at the Blue Mountain Company.
An argument can be made that whistle blowing should only be warranted when there is a group or a
majority that feels something should be brought to the attention of an outside authority if deemed so.
As discussed in the study the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) determined that since his

The Magna And Rousseau Theory Of The Social Contract
Magna Carta vs Rousseau
The Magna Carta and Rousseau theory of the social contract are both different and similar in many
ways. The Magna Carta protects a certain group of people. And the Rousseau theory of the social
contract is to protect everyone. But they also have a lot of similarities such as the fact that they both
put restrains on the government.
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta is a series of documents that represent an important step in the progression of
governance in western civilization. The foundation of the Magna Carta was that everybody including
the king was subjected to the law. This document defined and limited the federal rights of the
monarch. In spite of what the Magna Carta outlooks today, this document was not written with proud
ideas of justice and liberty in mind. It was initially meant as a peace treaty between king john and his
barons, with whom he was at war with. The barons had seized London and john found himself in a
political jumble, he need a swift way out solution. The document only covers the nobility, connected,
the land owners. So blacks, kids, women, and the poor was not covered by the Magna Carta. The
Magna Carta never accomplish its goal of producing peace. In datum it failed dramatically. Granting
john agreed to the Magna Carta at first, he swiftly became acrimonious when his terms were enforced
upon him. He transcribed a letter to the pope to get it null and void. The pope essentially happened to
come to an agreement with john, by

The Old Man And The Sea By Ernest Hemingway
The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway is a story about an old man named Santiago who has
to overcome many obstacles in his time at sea and in life (Hemingway). Despite being a fisherman,
Santiago has not caught fish in 84 days and is faced by numerous dilemmas and shortcomings as
things seem to always go wrong for him (Hemingway). This paper provides an analysis of the novel
by interpreting it as a secular humanist epic. This paper hypothesizes that the character of Santiago is
guided by secular principles and values which act as both a moral compass as well as societal
fundamentals that are based on secular humanism. Therefore, The Old Man and The Sea is promoting
these secular humanist values and principles by depicting how ... Show more content on

There is no God who is transcendent above and beyond created reality... The secular humanist
presupposes that the only thing which can exist and have importance to mankind is that which is open
to empirical verification and observation by man (1). The Old Man and The Sea can be considered a
secular humanist epic for various reasons. The themes covered by the story explore secular, human
and everyday problems and issues. These include numerous subjects such as ageism,
relationships/friendships, pride, perseverance, reputation in society, and so on. Each theme covered
will be used to show that secular and humanist values are important for survival and prosperity in
society.
Firstly, the author indicates that despite his old age, Santiago s perseverance sets him apart from others
in society. The Council for Secular Humanism writes that Secular humanism has provided an impetus
for humans to solve their problems with intelligence and perseverance, to conquer geographic and
social frontiers, and to extend the range of human exploration and adventure ( A Secular Humanist
Declaration ).
This theme of perseverance is epitomized by Santiago s battles with a large fish which he manages to
capture. This is evident when the old man states that he will attempt to catch the fish even if it means
risking his own life:
Fish, he said softly, aloud, I ll stay with you until I am dead.

Sports History Research Paper
My history in sports is pretty big even though I am only 13. I play volleyball, basketball, and softball.
I have a deep love for the game in each of these sports whether it be on the court or in the field. I
started playing volleyball in 1st grade on the CEGCYRA teams here in Eureka. I immediately had a
connection between the competition and just having fun with my friends. One time I remember
playing a game where the ball went into the net and I got it, then Ashley Leman got it back up. It did
not go over but when you were in 1st grade and got the ball out of the net, it was a big deal. I feel like

CEGCYRA from 1st grade till last year on the 6th grade travel team. Our basketball team was pretty
good we only lost to one team and that was El Paso Gridley. Ever since they have been our rivals, we
ALWAYS have a great game with them. One time both teams were playing so good that the score was
below 10 the whole time! This year we beat El Paso in middle school basketball. Which felt really
good.
The 3rd and final sport I play is Softball. When I was little I played t ball for CEGCYRA then that
turned into instructional baseball, which turned into kid pitch, which turned into me playing on the in
house team in Morton. That team was a good team also. We won most of our games I was a pitcher
and played 1st base. I still play those positions in Middle School. Our team will be kinda good but I

Introduction ============
Dishonesty is common throughout Death of a Salesman. Whether the lies are intentional or delusional,
Willy, Biff, and Happy tell untruths all the time, Biff finally realizes that they ve been lying to each
other and themselves so much, that they don t even know who they really are. Dishonesty is also
highlighted by Willy s relationship with the woman and his delusion in relation to his career. Finally,

The fact that it does not occur to either of the boys that there s something wrong with this is very
shocking and the audience is left to wonder how they developed such an attitude
Biff
Biff is deceitful about his life but his dishonesty is compounded, as Willy is dishonest about him.
When Biff stole a football from the locker room when he was in high school, and he claimed that he
took it because the coach told him to work on his passing. Willy acts for a moment as if Biff should
return it, but when Hap implies that Biff was wrong for taking the ball, Willy defends Biff and
declares that the coach, rather than being angry with Biff for stealing, would have been proud and
impressed with Biff s initiative. Willy tells Biff that it s OK that he took the ball because the coach
likes him. Willy tells his son it s perfectly fine to steal from people, as long as you are well liked; they
ll let you get away with it. Willy finds it impossible to understand how someone who was as popular
and well liked as Biff was in high school, could have grown up to be such a failure. Willy always
believed that Biff s popularity would naturally lead to great success in the business world. But that s
not the way things have worked out for Biff, and Willy is baffled by it. Willy shows this by telling Biff
to pretend his work out West was business related instead

The Belief Of God Or Gods
Animism has Latin roots and means soul or life conferring to the dictionary. It is cosmologically
involved. Also, it includes two beliefs the belief in measured forces throughout nature, in natural

objects, animals and human beings. Perhaps, this belief is interrelated with cosmology. It seems to
most religions that cosmological theory has an important role. God or gods is the sole and sustainer of

What Are The 5 Approaches To Health Promotion
There are five different approaches to health promotion, each of these have different aims, methods
and means of evaluation they are not guidelines but individually reflect different ways of working.
(Naidoo Wills, 2009.)
The Medical/Preventive model is scientific and targeted towards high risk groups, the main aim is to
prevent disease and reduce morbidity and premature mortality. The approach is broken down into
three stages these being: Primary prevention The first stage of the approach aims to ensure people are
aware of risks and try to prevent disease through encouraging individuals to take the right steps
towards good health. Secondary prevention This stage is about preventing the growth of further
disease, by using methods such as screening for early diagnosis. Tertiary prevention The final stage is
about reducing disease or illness in the individual and ensuring that recurrence of a disease is
prevented.
The behavioural change model encourages individuals to adopt healthy behaviours into their lifestyles

commonly practiced there (29). Take this idea of Albright s and expand it to not only diplomats, but
the traveling business man as well. There are many a time when a business man does not know the
culture and religious background of a country, does something silly during a business meeting, and
offends everyone. Let s say if the business man goes to Japan, if they don t follow these rules: No
excessive eye contact, never ever be late for an appointment, avoid wearing lots of jewelry and bright
colors, and others as well, the Japanese business man will get very upset, and that could make
everything bad. If someone does these bad things with the wrong people, like a dignitary, it could
mean war. Examining the tension between China and Taiwan,
Hundreds of big American tech companies now have R D operations in China; a war that disrupted
them could lead not only to the companies moving their plants elsewhere...

Essay On Chaos And Transformational Disorder
CHAOS AND MENTAL DISORDER In 1992 Freeman has suggested the use of complexity for the
study of schizophrenia and mood instability in bipolar disorders. (Freeman, 1992). According to
Freeman, chaos underlies the brain s ability to respond flexibly to the outside world and to generate a
rich variety of patterns, including those that are experienced as new ideas. Chaos thus expresses the
unpredictable underlying order of attractors and allows the complex behavior observed in the brain.
The dynamics of the underlying attractor reconstructed from the EEG data by using the coordinates
delay technique proved to be chaotic in nature. Preliminary results suggested that a separate chaotic
attractor is maintained for each stimulation and perception act is constituted by phase ... Show more

This is correlated with changes in the spatiotemporal patterns of activity of chaotic systems (Freeman,
1999). Other studies suggest a relationship of chaotic dynamics with a wide range of cognitive
phenomena connected with characteristic changes during the manifestations of mental disorders such
as depression or schizophrenia (Gottschalk et al., 1995) (Barton, 1994) (Huber et al.,1999), (Korn
Faure, 2003), (Melancon et al., 2000), (Paulus Braff, 2003). There are studies that attribute the chaotic
transitions to dissociative states in psychopathology. They propose hypotheses relating the process of
dissociation with the chaotic dynamics generated by discrete maps (Putnam, 1997). In another
example, the chaotic transitions are related dissociative states in the brain (Bob, 2003; 2007) to be
noted that transitions which occur in the activation of different sets of neurons obey patterns that can
be identified with chaos. As a last example, not much different than the above, the comparison is made
of the behavioral observations of individuals and not their

  • 2. Autobiographical Memory Analysis Autobiographical memory is the memory of a person s life events and information (Fossati, 2013). One process that affects the accuracy of memory is coherence. Although, coherence is essential to maintain self esteem, self beliefs, and a stable sense of self (Conway, 2005). Individuals sometimes desire super memory due to memory fallibility. There are people who have superior memories such as individuals with Highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM). Unfortunately, possessing such a memory comes with severe consequences, which renders super memory less appealing, especially as memories have such a significant influence on the self (James, 1950). Human memory can be changed, biased or even completely fabricated (Conway et al., 2004). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies of extreme violations of coherence show the vast importance of coherence to maintaining a self that can operate effectively in the world (Conway, 2005). Baddeley et al (1996) reported cases regarding hospitalised schizophrenics that illustrates this. In one case, a man truly believed he was a famous rock guitarist despite knowing he could not play guitar. Another patient believed he was a Russian chess grand master even though he could not speak Russian, nor had he been there, and he was often beaten at the game by other patients. Furthermore, Downes and Mayes (1994) reported a case regarding a man with a neuropsychological disorder. He was convinced he could remember having a terrible argument with his father the day before, although, he could also remember attending his father funeral years earlier. Instances such as this highlight the importance of coherence to healthy individuals. Individuals with a coherent self are more likely to have high self esteem, and increased well being (Csikzentmilhalkyi and Baettie, 1979). Finally, when the self is in line with the past the individual can be effective, achieve goals and relate to others (Bluck and Habermas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Father Of Texas By Stephen F. Austin Essay Every Texan knows the legends of Stephen F. Austin that lead him to become the Father of Texas. Few Texas would try to say anyone else deserves this honor even though Texas is not short of larger than life legends. Such names include Lorenzo Zavala, Thomas Rusk, Juan Seguin, William Travis, James Bowie, and Sam Houston. Even In his eulogy for Austin, Houston called him, The Father of Texas (Areas of Interest). But despite this many would argue that Houston deserves the title. To understand how became a Texas Hero we must first explore the struggles that lead him to Texas and eventually. Houston s early years where less than promising despite being named after his famous father. Houston disliked working on the family farm and going to school. When given the chance to leave the hard work of the farm and work as a clerk Houston choose to runaway. When he ran away meet with and was accepted into the Cherokee tribe not far from his family s farm. Here he found comfort and acceptance in the tribe. Years later he returned to the white settlement becoming a teacher and then joining the Tennessee Militia. Later he would serve in the United States House of Representatives. In 1829 Houston married Eliza Allen of Tennessee, however the marriage was short lived. After Houston s failed marriage he resigned his office and headed west out of Tennessee where he rejoined living with the Cherokee. • 4. Themes Of Women In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae Imagine looking in the mirror every day and not being able to recognize yourself. Going out in public only to be mocked and insulted. Then ponder about how it would feel to be pushed and locked away by your own parents. Most people would not enjoy the sound of being socially unacceptable in the world they live in. But years ago women felt discouraged by the outside world. If women didn t meet the expectations of others they would became an outcast. They were expected to only take care of the house and kids. Do to these ways of thinking women were left under educated and a prisoner in their own home. For the women who didn t fit in or had physical disorder they were labelled as freaks. In Margaret Atwood s Lusus Naturae , a young girl/ monster is hidden away from the world because her family will not accept her appearance. While her parents thought keeping her locked up in the house was a beneficial decision, she became isolated and lacked the knowledge and understanding of the world outside her four walls. Even though Lusus Naturae is a dark, twisted, and frightening tale there is more to the story than just a freak of nature being hidden from the world. One must read the story more in depth and closer to illustrate the themes of women s roles in society in relation to the monster. Margaret Atwood uses symbolic parallels and narrative tones to exemplify her views of women s historical roles in society. The time and setting of Lusus Naturae plays along with women s ... The air express giant is now facing fierce competitions like never before. With main competitors like FedEx, TNT, and UPS trying to acquire capacities and undercut DHL s price, price has dropped 5% each year from 1985 to 1990 by estimation, with extreme drops in some markets. Margins are being squeezed as a result. To maintain its advantage in the market, DHL is facing some important decisions such as price setting strategies and decision structure. Needless to say, DHL is making some crucial choices here. A right step will lead to better profitability but a false one might bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contribution of each local operation was calculated by subtracting local costs from revenue. This implies that, the P L is calculated by deducting the cost incurred within their region from the revenue of that region. Revenue is recognized at the location where a shipment was originated. This system is unreasonable in the sense that it did not consider the costs to other country operations of delivery and whether the selling price was sufficient to cover the cost of pickup, line haul, hub transfer, delivery, and headquarters overhead and management costs. Therefore, a region s revenue is not being matched with its costs. Its real cost should include all costs along the way of sending its documents or parcels to their destinations. For regions with higher incoming traffic, this system assigns a higher cost to it. The higher cost will distort management s incentive to maximize profit. If use MR=MC to calculate optimal price, the region s MC will become higher than its real MC, resulting in a higher price, and it is not the real profit maximizing price. So, in order to provide the incentive for management to carry out a price that maximize the profit, the cost accounting structure must be changed. The company must find out the cost at each step of the transporting, and then add them up to get the total MC of a certain route. This requires DHL to improve its accounting IT system PRISM. This statue is a female figure with wings, wearing a flowing gown. It s said to represent Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, and her winning in battle. It shows various elements of the Hellenistic period, such as the use of space and dimension. The Snake Goddess is a 1600 BCE figurine found in 1903, in Knossos, Crete by the British archaeologist Arthur Evans. It s made of Faience, a glass like material, and it shows a large breasted women whose holding two snakes on each of her hands supporting a feline like figure on her head, and it s wearing what seems to be a long layered skirt with a metal looking accessory or girdle on her waist. These exaggerated features are caused by her ornamental dress. The naturalism shown in this sculpture is common in Minoan art, just as the patterns, colors and folds bring the typical Minoan dresses alive. Her body is mostly proportional, except for her hands which seem to be too small for her body. Not a common detail on Minoan sculptures so it s most likely not intentional. The Nike of Samothrace is an example of Hellenistic sculpture. Nike s wings are open and the diagonal thrust of her body makes it seem as if she s turning while moving forward. The details on the marble show her gown still tugged by the breeze created as she landed on the front of a ship. Her body is farily Classical, except for the thickness of her hips. Enterprise Data Analysis And Visualization Enterprise Data Analysis and Visualization: An Interview Study ABSTRACT Organizations rely on data analysts to model customer engagement, streamline operations, improve production, inform business decisions, and combat fraud. Numerous analysis and visualization advanced tools available for analysts to work, but there are little research goes on how analysis happens in companies. To better understand the enterprise analysts ecosystem, we conducted semi structured interviews with 35 data analysts from 25 organizations. Based on our interview data, we characterize the process of industrial data analysis and document how organizational features of an enterprise impact it. We describe recurring pain points, outstanding challenges, and barriers to adoption for visual analytic tools. INTRODUCTION: The researchers conducted semi structured interviews with 35 analysts from various sectors. They asked analysts to walk them through the typical tasks they perform, the tools analysts use, the challenges they encounter, and the organizational context in which analysis takes place. In this paper, we present the results and analysis of these interviews. The respondents are well described by three archetypes. We find that these archetypes vary widely in programming proficiency, reliance on Information technology (IT) staff and diversity of tasks, and vary less in statistical proficiency. We describe how collaboration takes place between analysts. We find that analysts seldom share ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With all the plants and beauty, the only people on my island are young women. Everyday, my beautiful, young maids and I awaited the arrival of a man or woman lost at sea. For years we waited, no person ever washing upon our shore. All we longed was a new friend, or man to get lost at sea and wash up on our island for us to care for and love. When a stranger showed up on my island after swimming in the ocean, I kindly took him in. No one ever visits my wondrous island, and no one ever leaves my island. He told me of how his men killed Helios forbidden cattle and Zeus destroyed his ship as a punishment for this forbidden act. He told me that he had been swimming for days, his ship destroyed and all his loyal men killed. Social And Social Changes In Japan During The Tokugawa Period Firstly, Japan s political structure was transformed to really large extent during the Meiji era as it brought about changes such as in the manner of governing the people, parliament structure as well as the reform in policies that the Japanese were forced to sign with the Western powers such as the United States of America and Great Britain. During the Tokugawa period the Emperor Meiji limited the power of the samurai removing exclusive rights such as their right to punish commoners and he also removed their right to be the only armed force in Japan, in favour of westernized military with several different armed sections. • 10. Kant On Good Will Nothing is good without limitation, except good will. Our character traits, temperament, and talents can be good or evil, beneficial or harmful. Even our good fortune (properties we are born into or receive by chance) can be used for good or arrogantly; good will bends it to good purpose. Anyone (rational impartial spectator) would be dissatisfied upon seeing another person lacking good will yet enjoying life s riches. Thus, good will is a necessary condition for deserving happiness. Even those qualities (here he considers moderation, self control, and sober reflection) which support good will cannot be held as absolutely good (good without limitation); they still require a good will. For natural ends, instinct (drives to satisfy hunger, thirst, and the need for shelter) is sufficient; however, the greatest good demands reason. This is so because the greatest good may adversely affect the individual who by reason is contemplating a course of action. Kant then discusses the concept of duty: does it always serve the good, or can it also be self serving? Even the preservation of life must be considered as either conforming with duty or arising from duty, a moral obligation. Thus, only actions which have moral value can be sufficiently described as duty. Happiness is a powerful motivator; lack thereof can lead one to violate one s duties. Motivation to satisfy one inclination and achieve happiness in the present can outweigh consideration of a later (i.e., more distant temporally) consequence. Abiding by one s duty to achieve happiness provides moral value. Thus, love as a duty can be commanded; such love is practical and based on the will not melting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Difference Between Working Class And Poor Mothers For working class and poor mothers, intensive mothering and consumerism are still equally linked to their view of themselves as good mothers. The only difference between working class and poor mothers versus middle and upper class women is that the working class/poor have to work harder to attain the good mother status. According to Takseva (2014), Children can be used as an object of display conferring the desired social status (p.224) and, Membership in a group is often defined through the purchasing of goods and services (p.225). Therefore, mothers who do not present their children in the best clothes or toys are seen as bad mothers, so mothers of the lower classes have to work harder to ascribe their children the same status as the children in upper classes. Many working class mothers experience guilt that due to the lack of financial resources they are not being good mothers because they cannot provide their children with the same life chances that they would if they had more money (Takseva, 2014, p.227). These mothers find alternative strategies to define themselves as good mothers such as knowing where and when to shop for bargains, and actively engaging their children into understanding what products can/cannot be purchased so that they have realistic expectations (Takseva, 2014, p.227). I will attempt to examine the similarities and differences of both these cites revenue and expenditure line items in their budgets. The cities are similar in that they generate revenue from many of the same resources and they have similar expenditures in their annual fiscal budget. However, the cities budgets strategies are different because both these cities demographics, social, economic, political platform, and historical characteristics guide both cities elected official s decisions during the budget process. The imagery of not being caged or penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. How Does Plath Use Metaphors In Munich Mannequins Plath s use of metaphor is effective in highlighting her depressive state, Plath often used metaphors frequently and used them as a contrast to her own reality. Plath s poem The Munich Mannequins , is a poem which floats between two images of womanly barrenness through the image of anonymous mannequins to the hotels of Munich where the occupants are just as anonymous as the mannequins we are introduced to in the first few stanzas. Five Cinematic Techniques In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window In Rear Window, by Alfred Hitchcock, Jeff, a photographer in New York City, breaks his leg while trying to take a photo at an auto race and gets stuck in his apartment until his leg heals. To pass the time, Jeff spies on his neighbors with his photo lenses. However, while in the process of spying on his neighbors, the Thorwalds, he suspects that a gruesome murder may have taken place in the household. In Rear Window, Hitchcock creates a suspenseful tone by utilizing five cinematic terms: sound effects, zoom shot, reaction shot, symbol, and point of view. In the beginning of Rear Window, while Jeff is spying on his neighbors, he hears the melodious piano keys of a fun loving composer, the sweet nothings of newlyweds, and the bickering of the Thorwalds, a middle aged married couple. Immediately, the audience senses that something is not right with the Thorwalds, when Hitchcock juxtaposes the sweet sound of the neighbors with the Thorwald s constant squabbling. In analyzing the Case of The Reluctant Security Guard we will examine the decision making process which led to David Tuff effectively whistle blowing for what he felt was the right thing to do. The policy that was in place for David Tuff was ultimately an oath he subscribed to when he became a security guard, as well as his integrity of being a former U.S. Marine. He was required to abide by the Security Officer s Manual, which included obeying the rules and regulations of the Superintendent of Police. There is no ambiguity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Are the reasons for whistle blowing in line with reasons everyone can act upon in principle alone? Tuff met with two other security guards regarding the overall issues, they concurred with him that they too had grievances against the company policies. This act promotes the concept of universalizability, and how it can be applied to the moral dilemma that Tuff faced. He now had people on his side, this allowed him to gain emotional momentum which led him to speaking to the press shortly after he met with his co workers. As far as reversibility applies to this examination, we could deduce that Tuff felt that his actions would be just in that it would apply to him if the table was turned and he was an innocent bystander waiting to bit hit by a drunk driver. Reversibility leads us to challenge the amount of moral worth in the sense of duty that Tuff had to his oath, and to society. There is no doubt Tuff felt that his duties as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a sworn in security guard outweighed the conduct and vision of the policy makers at the Blue Mountain Company. An argument can be made that whistle blowing should only be warranted when there is a group or a majority that feels something should be brought to the attention of an outside authority if deemed so. Who was this cannonball? Well, it was someone who I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my heart the way it was shattered. That person was you. You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve been removed. Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. Though many politicians of the day say that government should be in a separate category than religion, it still plays an important role. That is why when doing anything, a business deal, or a diplomatic trip, there needs to be cautionary measures taken. Albright believes a goal should be set by the government, In the future, no American ambassador should be assigned to a country where religious feelings are strong unless he or she has a deep understanding of the faiths commonly practiced there (29). • 43. Essay On Chaos And Transformational Disorder CHAOS AND MENTAL DISORDER In 1992 Freeman has suggested the use of complexity for the study of schizophrenia and mood instability in bipolar disorders. (Freeman, 1992). According to Freeman, chaos underlies the brain s ability to respond flexibly to the outside world and to generate a rich variety of patterns, including those that are experienced as new ideas. Chaos thus expresses the unpredictable underlying order of attractors and allows the complex behavior observed in the brain. The dynamics of the underlying attractor reconstructed from the EEG data by using the coordinates delay technique proved to be chaotic in nature. Preliminary results suggested that a separate chaotic attractor is maintained for each stimulation and perception act is constituted by phase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is correlated with changes in the spatiotemporal patterns of activity of chaotic systems (Freeman, 1999). Other studies suggest a relationship of chaotic dynamics with a wide range of cognitive phenomena connected with characteristic changes during the manifestations of mental disorders such as depression or schizophrenia (Gottschalk et al., 1995) (Barton, 1994) (Huber et al.,1999), (Korn Faure, 2003), (Melancon et al., 2000), (Paulus Braff, 2003). There are studies that attribute the chaotic transitions to dissociative states in psychopathology. They propose hypotheses relating the process of dissociation with the chaotic dynamics generated by discrete maps (Putnam, 1997). In another example, the chaotic transitions are related dissociative states in the brain (Bob, 2003; 2007) to be noted that transitions which occur in the activation of different sets of neurons obey patterns that can be identified with chaos.
