Role Of Social Hierarchy In The Neolithic Age
In the Paleolithic era, social hierarchy was determined by multiple factors such as position in the
family, gender, age, and favorable personality traits. Titles were given to establish positions within
each band. Titles could include, mother, father, husband, wife, brother, sister, child, etc. The higher the
position in the band came power over others. (John P. McKay, Understanding World Societies, Pg14).
The division of labor was determined by a person s sex and age. With biological factors, it was
inevitable that there would be a division of labor for men and women. Women biologically are able to
breast feed their young, which takes several years. At this time period formula was not invented yet,
so breast milk was the only source of nutrition for infants. Women would breast feed and the men
would most likely care for the infants. In a sense the women and men split the work to care for their
young. Since the Paleolithic people had to rely on moving from place to place to gather their food,
women also worked outdoors. The women gathered plants and animal products, meanwhile the men
hunted. (McKay, Pg.13) Age was also a key factor in the division of labor in their society. Being
elderly or a child would result in different task that would generally be easier because of the lack of
strength. Unlike the Paleolithic era, in the Neolithic era Social hierarchies mainly came about as a
result of plow agricultural society in both gender relations and division of labor.

Jetblue s Good Service Quality
ABSTRACT (Isabelle Aultman and Ben Cvek) In any business service quality is going to make or
break the company in the long run. JetBlue has great ideas on how to compete and how to be lower
priced while still gaining profit. Customer and provider gaps are all about what a customer expects,
what a customer perceives, what a customer is willing to accept, what a company understands about
those expectations, a company s communication both internal and external, and the company systems
and processes (Zeithaml, et al.,2013).
Although JetBlue had good service quality in place for the most part, it lacked the proper processes
and systems to properly provide support. Ultimately, customers had expectations and were not willing
to accept the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, JetBlue targeted large metropolitan areas with high average fares to compete with the
larger airliners. Even small things such as more seats and a more fuel efficient aircraft increased
profits. Things seemed to be running great for JetBlue as they increased the number of destinations.
All of these things kept JetBlue profitable. It seems as though JetBlue has strayed from their original
core values, although, the company seems to be on the way to resolving the issues that plague them.
STRATEGIC PROFILE (John Beck and Admira Salazar)
Starting Off In the Right Direction
Jet Blue was birthed in 1999 by David Neeleman and went public in 2000 as an independently owned
and operated Airline. Headquarters is located in Long Island, New York with its main base at John F.
Kennedy International Airport with most of the flights occurring in the United States and the
Caribbean (Docslide, 2015).
From its very essences, JetBlue showed high signs of profitability, initially the company set out to sell
over five and a half million shares at an average of $25 per share. However, the company actually
topped off at $27 dollars selling almost 6 million in shares. Being in the airline industry means the
level of competition is high, so JetBlue wanted to establish itself as a high end airline with

Christ in Discipleship
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DIVINITY Writing Assignment 1 Christ in Discipleship
Submitted to Dr. Gary Waller in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of DSMN
500 B03 Discipleship Ministries by David J. Miller May 29, 2016 Centrality of Christ in Christian
discipleship Christian discipleship is to follow Jesus, to be his disciple, doesn t mean community
involvement and the veneer of tolerance. It means, mainly, first and central, to worship him with joy at
the heart. Making disciples of Jesus means gathering his worshipers. Discipleship starts with the heart,

urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God

not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in
accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with
many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many,
form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the
grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith;
if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if

Comparing The Yellow Wallpaper And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
The stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper are similar in
multiple ways although they also contrast from each other. All three stories were published in the 1890
s and all shared a similar theme which was related to the time period. Comparing and contrasting the
stories maintain and vary from each other on components such as the theme, setting, and main
characters which will be scrutinized in the following. The story A Pair of Silk Stockings consists of
the Mrs. Sommers, the main character, receives fifteen dollars and decides to go spend the money on
clothing for her children. Before beginning to shop , Mrs. Sommers sees some silk stockings and is
intrigued by them. She buys the stockings instead of buying the clothes for her children. Mrs.
Sommers then continues to shop for herself as she goes to the shoe store to a buy a pair of boots, eats

Charles Horton Cooley Analysis
A picture is made up of so many square inches of painted canvas; but if you should look at these one
at a time, covering the others, until you had seen them all, you would still not have seen the picture.
There may, in all such cases, be a system or organization in the whole that is not apparent in the parts.
In this sense, and in no other, is there a difference between society and the individuals of which it is
composed; a difference not residing in the facts themselves but existing to the observer on account of
the limits of his perception. A complete view of society would also be a complete view of all the
individuals, and vice versa; there would be no difference between them. Charles Horton Cooley, in
Human Nature and the Social Order . Talking about class, in the Code of Hammurabi states, If a
patrician has knocked out the tooth of a man that is his equal, his tooth shall be knocked out. and, If he
has knocked out the tooth of a plebeian, he shall pay one third of a mina of silver. If an elite wrongs a
man of equal power, he shall be equally wronged. If a plebeian proves wrong to an elite, he will be
severely punished or put to death. However, if the elite wrongs a plebeian, he shall only pay a small ...

Economic Development Office For The State Of Texas
The summer of 2014, I interned at the Economic Development Office for the state of Texas. The office
was tasked with preparing relocation incentives for companies in order to create jobs. The office was
split into different departments totaling about 45 people. The office worked strictly under the
Governor. One would answer the phone, Office of the Governor, Economic Development... Economic
Development offices around the country came under repetitive criticism for behaving as governors
slush funds. Essentially there are clear lines of imperative control from superior offices. The office
was responsible for overseeing the economic development of the whole state. In other ways, the office
directly contrasted Weber s definition. Since the office was able to distribute funds and abate taxes, it
made incredible financial decisions for companies and the taxpayers of the state. Awards could not be
given out based on a specific set of rules. There was careful consideration into a companies intentions,
how they were prepared for the future, and if they fit the new model of businesses Texas wanted to
attract. In this regard, the office did not always make systematic decisions. Those promoted were the
best performing, most ambitious, and took initiative; only residue of a seniority system remained. A
meritocracy, in direct opposition to a tenured hierarchy, opened a dichotomy between the older and
younger generations. Under performers were let go regardless of tenure. On a

Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness
According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which the
units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination with another
term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110). For example, we
know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad (Bressler, 111). Joseph
Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary opposition of light/dark within The Picture of Dorian
Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by contrasting a superior concept
with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a major role in displaying class
differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the East End, or the lower class part of
London, while the West End is described as wealthy and cultured. For example, as Dorian travels
through the East End, the chapter begins with, A cold rain began to fall, and the blurred street lamps
looked ghastly in the dripping mist (Wilde, 176). Further, Wilde uses more dark images to create the
scene of the East End. He states, The moon hung low in the sky like a yellow skull... the gas lamps
grew fewer, and the streets more narrow and gloomy (Wilde, 177). The description of the East End
strongly opposes the description of the upper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Module 11 Psychology
The More I Learned, the More Interested I got in psychology. Module after module I was getting more
and more interested. Unit 3,and especially Module 11 grabbed my attention the most. Module 11
discusses stages of memory and memory processes. This module answers the most important
questions: How our memory works? and How we are influenced by our memories? .
One reaction paper wouldn t be enough for me to share my thoughts and point the most important
parts of this chapter, but I will try to. The three stages model divides memory into three sequential
stages: sensory, short term, and long term memory (R.C. Atkinson Shiffrin, 1968) (Plotnik and
Kouyoumdjian 240).
It all comes to the point, whether you pay attention to information. Only if you pay attention to
information, then it will be transferred into the short term memory from sensory memory, otherwise
you would forget it. Now if you pay attention to the information in short term memory, then it would
be encoded and transferred into the long term memory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

might be useful to disseminate to the general public, who might encounter highly critical information
about false memory research on the Internet . If in the future people will continue doing researches on

Alienation And Isolation In Frankenstein
An Analysis of the Theme of Alienation and Isolation in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
This literary analysis will analyze a close reading of the theme of alienation and isolation of the
Monster in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The passage chosen from Shelley s novel will define the
self education of the monster through the symbolism of Lucifer in John Milton s epic poem Paradise
Lost: But Paradise Lost excited different and far deeper emotions...but I am solitary and detested

The chosen passage defines the importance of Paradise Lost by John Milton as a form of literary
symbolism to define the Monster s self education as a basis for his revenge against Victor. The
relationship between God and Adam defines how the Monster comes tor realize that he has been
created by a supernatural being, much like he was created by Victor. However, he also comes to know
that God has abandoned him. The Monster knows that he has not been given the love and resources
given to Adam, which forces him to realize that he is more like the fallen angel Lucifer. In response to
this realization, the Monster decides to kill Victor s wife, just as Lucifer destroyed eve by tempting her
to eat the forbidden apple from the Tree of Knowledge. These are important aspects of literary
symbolism that the Monster learns that create a motivation for vengeance against his creator. This

Bna Thesis
BNA practice intro paragraph
The British North America Act (BNA) is known as The Act that created Canada. In this thesis
statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United States.
In 1864 the BNAAct was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation.
Counter argument
The Manifest Destiny showed the hatred of the United States (US) for every other terrain that was not
their own. The US used the 19th century period of American Expansion that was destined to stretch
from coast to coast. The preowned way of the attitude prevalent fired up disasters, War with Mexico
broke out and harsh removal of the Native Americans. O Sullivan declared, Our manifest destiny to
overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying
millions. This recitation guided many Republican supporters. Manifest destiny is an extensively held
faith mainly by the United States that it was their own found destiny to expand and own the territory
of North America.

The Manifest Destiny was superior for the Americans, paved the way for Americans to share culture,

The Decision Struck Down A Statute
In 1976, by a 7 2 decision, the Court adopted an intermediate level of review for gender classifications
in the case Craig v. Boren. The decision struck down a statute that allowed women over the age of
eighteen to purchase beer but only men over the age of twenty one. Using this intermediate scrutiny,
the Court has invalidated gender segregation across the board. However, while this heightened level of
scrutiny has drastically helped women, it has not been equal in its effect on men. Since Craig, the
Court has upheld a requirement that only men register for the draft (Rostker v. Goldberg) and a
statutory rape law where only adult men were punished for having sex with an underage individual of
the opposite sex (Michael M. v. Superior Court). While these cases occurred in the 80s, this trend of
favoring women over men in gender discrimination cases has continued, especially in regards to
administrative law and protection. Recent Supreme Court cases reveal that men are still being
unfavorably ruled against over women, leading one to believe a push for strict scrutiny is key in
bridging that gap and implementing a federal statute that all States must obey in order to ensure
gender equality is achieved on both sides of the spectrum.
Beginning in the 70s, even before the decision of Craig, one is able to notice a trend of men seeming
to fail where women have strived in court. A notable case is Frontiero v. Richardson which involved a
lieutenant of the United States Air Force

Dating and Marriage in Japan Essay
Japan Dating Marriage Customs Project
Love is in the air. Although this may sound like a cliche it is true. Love is prevalent in every society all
around the world. The feelings associated with love may be the same all over, but how love is
approached can vary. Dating and marriage customs are different from country to country; Japan, in
particular has very unique dating and marriage procedures. Japan is a located in Southeastern Asia.
The Japanese tend to share some very different ideas concerning dating and marriage. However, some
of our beliefs and morals have spread into the culture of the Japanese. Nevertheless, Japan holds

In general, a Japanese person will live with their parents until they are officially married, this also
means during the dating process. This is different from the more western tradition of moving in once
the relationship is getting serious. The Japanese refrain from moving in with each other to prevent the
couple from having sex before they are married. However, this doesn t prevent sexual activity during
the relationship. The couple could go to love hotels, karaoke booths, the backs of cars, and public
parks. This isn t a taboo topic, but it isn t openly discussed either. Japanese people also stay with their
parents until marriage to motivate themselves to get married at some point in their lives, rather than
live with their parents for the rest of their days. Additionally, if one lives with their parents for too
long and the parents are not okay with this, the parents will then resort to marrying off the child.
Although arranged marries aren t the tradition anymore, it is used as a last resort. But, a child can have
an arranged all together. In the previous generations arranged marriages were the custom thing to
have, but the recent generation has progressed, and it is now accepted to date around and pick a
spouse. In Japan, there are not just certain ways are done, there s the way things are supposed to be
done. Thus, culture is culture, and formalities are formalities. Their

Why Do Pharmaceutical Companies Have Financial Interest
Big pharmaceutical companies have proven to be a little greedier than every other industry in the
United States lately. Their greed is only surpassed perhaps by that of the tobacco and oil industries.
Their ethical misconduct continues to grow, especially in the way they test their treatments during
clinical trials. For instance, doctors are paid to sign up patients for clinical drugs, and this
compromises doctors objectivity due to financial interest. Dr Carera, who owns a large diabetic
practice, was considering joining the physicians who were prescribing their diabetic patients with a
new drug that was undergoing clicnical trials. If the clinical trials offered Dr Carera no compensation,
and no luxurious information trip, his objectivity wouldn t be compromised. This is because Dr Carera
would recruit potential patients for the clinical trials based on necessity, rather than the doctor s own

Objectivity is important because it causes the doctors to look out for the patient, rather than
themselves or the pharmaceutical company.
Promoting objective and non biased research in a university could prove more difficult than expected.
If a university imposes strict regulations to make sure all research conducted in their facilities is
objective and neutral, companies that sponsor the research will simply look for other places to spend
their money . Thus, in every case, pharmaceutical companies use financial interest to lure in doctors,
and they use financial interest when it comes to choosing which university hosts their research
protocol. Top researchers usually spend millions if not billions on research to develop new products
that generate many millions and billions of dollars, thus the outcome of clinical trials is very important
to these companies. Any kind of bias towards the pharmaceutical company from the physician is
potentially worth millions as well, thus its in the pharma

National interest outlines the goals or objectives of foreign policy and is used as an all embracing
concept to justify policy preferences and actions. These commonly guide the interactions that occur in
the global political arena. China s key national interests consist of economic development, secession

Central to China s national interest is the determination that regions such as Tibet and Taiwan which
have historically challenged the autonomy of Beijing will not seek, declare, or attempt to attain
independence. If one of these regions were to successfully break away from Beijing, it is feared that
others would be encouraged to do the same. China s territory must remain intact and Beijing refers to
these pressures as one of the three forbidden forces of terrorism, extremism and separatism . In order
to prevent the Uighurs from seceding in China, Beijing implemented the heal Xinjiang plan 2010 to
achieve long term social stability through leap frog economic growth . This aims to raise the GDP of
the Xinjiang region, raise annual income of both urban and rural residents and increase local access to
public services to national levels by 2015. China has also used its military power as an instrument to
deter regions from challenging China s sovereignty. It is estimated that in 2012, China has
strategically placed 1,800 missiles on its coast facing Taiwan as a reminder to the island of the dangers
of formally declaring independence.

Anglo Saxon society was decidedly patriarchal, but women were in some ways better off than they
would be in later times. A woman could own property in her own right. She could and did rule a
kingdom if her husband died. She could not be married without her consent and any personal goods,
including lands that she brought into a marriage remained her own property. If she were injured or
abused in her marriage her relatives were expected to look after her interests (David Ross.) The
women were responsible for grounding of grains, baking of bread, brewing of beer, making of butter
and cheese. During this era it was dangerous to travel; thus, most people would travel only if it was
unavoidable. If possible they would travel by water along the coast or along the river. During the early
Anglo Saxon period England was a very different place from what it is today. The human population
was very small. They grew their own food and made their own clothes... The lord and kin had the
strongest ties in the Anglo Saxon society. The ties of loyalty were to the person of a lord. There was no
real concept of patriotism or loyalty to a cause. Kings could not, except in exceptional circumstances,

Memories Of Ali s Success
I believe that memories help people in their effort to learn from the past and succeed in the present.
Sports is one popular example of learning from your mistakes from the past and improving yourself
afterwards. Muhammad Ali once said, I hated every minute of training, but I said, Don t quit. Suffer
now and live the rest of your life as a champion. These were the exact words from a former
heavyweight champion boxer and also one of the greatest sporting figures of the 20th century. This

Archetypes In Dracula
Representations of the vampire archetype have changed over time. This is because people have
different context of vampires due to different eras. The Bram Stoker s original vampire text Dracula is
about two men going on a business trip to meet Dracula. He was very welcoming but after a day the
two man saw Dracula for who he was really was a vampire. It reflects the context of 1897 by the
humans saw the vampire as a demon from the devil. The humans saw the Vampire was a demon

Malvolio In Twelfth Night
Count Malvolio
In the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare there are many rising conflicts that occur, Malvolio
being the cause of a great deal. His naive personality plays a key role is the way he acts towards
others, more specifically, Olivia. Malvolio s naive personality reflects on his devotion towards Olivia,
he cares deeply for her and so he is dedicated and will do about anything he is told. Although
Malvolio feels one way towards Olivia, she does not feel the same way. Malvolio s overconfidence in
himself leads him to be a bigger fool than he thinks he is. Portraying a naive, devoted and
overconfident persona leads someone to be so blindly in love and to foresee reality for what it really

Over Criminalization Research Paper
Over criminalizing citizens causes a lot of harm to many aspects of society. The crisis of over
criminalization refers to how some laws are not necessary because they try and regulate natural human
behaviors that are not inherently evil (Brainmass, n.d.). These include laws like gambling, prostitution,
cohabitation and drug use. The argument of over criminalization discusses if the government should
try and restrict human behavior (Brainmass, n.d.). One side says that they should because these acts do
not correspond with community values and the other side says it is impossible to stop foul behavior.
Realistically, the government plays a similar role parents do but on a much larger scale. Just because a
person with authority says don t do that, doesn t mean everyone is going to adhere to the standards. ...

There are many prostitution stings every day in the United States. With prostitution, both parties agree
to the act. There are two human beings fulfilling two different needs. The reason why it is dangerous
is because it is illegal and isn t regulated, which attracts the wrong type of people. There are many
countries worldwide that allow prostitution. In those countries, this industry causes much less harm
because it isn t restricted to just felons or rejects. The law enforcement officers conducting these
operations can use their valuable skills elsewhere. Over criminalization damages community relations.
When citizens receive sanctions for committing victimless crimes, the information gets spread

What Factors Affect Florida State Troopers
CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION
This study on understanding what factors influence Florida State Troopers in Orange County to
enforce the driving under the influence (DUI) statute was done in part by listening (Burns and
Anderson, 1995) to the experiences of the Florida State Troopers who have lived that experience of
DUI enforcement, and to draw common themes from these experiences. This qualitative
phenomenological study with the theoretical underpinnings of Interpretative Phenomenological
Analysis (Shinebourne, 2011) was conducted using a small sample of participants (Florida State
Troopers) who work in Orange County. The sample, n=10, consisted of Troopers whose duties
(Trochim, 2006) as Florida Highway Patrol Officers, entailed enforcement of the Florida DUI Statute.
Introduction to the Problem
According to Burns and DiQuiano (1987), driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious crime that
contributes to approximately 9% of traffic related crashes, injuries, and fatalities in the State of
Florida. Burns and Diquiano (1987) further states that several obstacles to reducing DUI crime in
Florida during their study emerged. DUI s in Orange County were up 20% in 2014 over 2013 when
there were 3031 DUI arrests or about 25 DUI s for every 10,000 residents across the State there were
9592 DUI arrests which signifies that Orange County accounts for 32% percent of the DUI s across
the State (Swearingen, 2015).

Unruly Americans And The Origins Of The Constitution
1. Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the
Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers
when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that the
framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion. To
avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the
American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the
origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests
involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the
government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the
Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and
their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author
accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing
of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national
governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. Mathews views
are presented in order to contrast the views of James Madison, whom it seems the author

the growth only becomes faster. The effects of this are not only found in Morenton Bay, Australia, but
worldwide. During Swedish summers strands of the crynobacteria wash up on shore as a yellow ish

Unemployment Rates
Introduction
National unemployment rates are one of the key macroeconomic figures that indicate to an extent how
well a country is performing at a certain point in time. These figures are widely used by economists
because they can show economic growth or economic stagnation. One of the most significant steps
that must be taken in order to reduce the unemployment rate is to find out what is causing it. There are
many different factors that affect a country s economic is performance, which means that there is also
a wide range of policies that can be implemented to reduce unemployment and improve economic
performance. Typically there are two major types of employment factors demand side and supply side.
Unemployment types, causes and effects
According to John Sloman and Alison Wride (2010, p.32) unemployed person is considered to be the
one who is without work, but is available for a one at current wage rates. Unemployment, however, is
not only a personal issue but also a big social and economic problem, which leads to lost in human
capital, incomes, production and lowering the standard of living as a whole. Depending on what is the
cause of it, unemployment may be divided into frictional, structural and cyclical, where frictional and
structural form the so called natural unemployment. Cyclical unemployment is simply caused because
of recession is a typical demand sided unemployment which means that there is a lack of aggregate
demand in the economy and there is less

Essay on The Efficient Market Hypothesis
1. INTRODUCTION
The efficient market, as one of the pillars of neoclassical finance, asserts that financial markets are
efficient on information. The efficient market hypothesis suggests that there is no trading system based
on currently available information that could be expected to generate excess risk adjusted returns
consistently as this information is already reflected in current prices. However, EMH has been the
most controversial subject of research in the fields of financial economics during the last 40 years.
Behavioural finance, however, is now seriously challenging this premise by arguing that people are
clearly not rational (Ross, (2002)). Behavioral finance uses facts from psychology and other human
sciences in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weak form efficiency cannot explain January effect. In semi strong form efficient market, to test
this hypothesis, researchers look at the adjustment of share prices to public announcements such as
earnings and dividend announcements, splits, takeovers and repurchases. As time goes, later tests tend
to be not supportive to EMH. For instance, semi strong form efficiency cannot explain the
pricing/earning effect. In strong form efficiency, the highest level of market efficiency, Fama (1991)
pointed out the immeasurability of market efficiency and suggested that it must be tested jointly with
an equilibrium model of expected. However, perfect efficiency is an unrealistic benchmark that is
unlikely to hold in practice.
Last but not least important, an efficient capital market is one in which stock prices fully reflect all
available information. However, the paradox is that since information is reflected in security prices
quickly, knowing information when it is released does an investor little good. Furthermore, it is
impossible to create a portfolio which would earn extraordinary risk adjusted return. As a
consequence, all the technical and fundamental analysis are useless, no one can consistently
outperform the market, and new

The Death Of A Boy
One afternoon, I watched over a group of toddlers playing in a nursery. I noticed a little boy playing
with a jack in the box. He kept turning the crank on the box and giggling when the lid popped open
and jack sprang out. He d eagerly stuff jack back into the box and start turning the crank again. I kept
hearing the melody of Pop goes the Weasel over and over. I noticed another little boy gawking out of
the corner of my eye. He was sitting a few feet away from the jack in the box. I could tell he desired to
play with it. Two of the other toddlers started crying and distracted the boy with the jack in the box.
While he was distracted, the gawking toddler grabbed it and started turning the crank. This toddler
was confronted with temptation and he gave into it. Temptation is the desire to do something sinful.
Temptation is something every man, woman and child confront. A toddler might be tempted to steal a
toy away from another child. A teenager might be tempted to drink alcohol. A husband might be
tempted to commit adultery. We deal with temptation from the time we come into this world and

On the other hand we have real GNP which measures the value of output in two or more different
years by valuing the goods and services adjusted for inflation.
Problems with GNP/GDP
GNP is merely a gross measure of market activity which counts only money transactions and excludes
goods and services (like taking care, cleaning, food preparation) that people provide each other free.
In terms of developed economies like United Kingdom it would not be a huge difference, however in
less developed countries much of its production takes place in the household economy like growing
crops and farming animals for the purpose of the household not selling. Therefore it would not be
included in countries GNP/GDP.
The World Bank itself recognizes many of these problems. Although they reflect the average incomes
in a country, GNP per capita and GDP per capita have numerous limitations when it comes to
measuring people #8217;s actual well being. Taking as example countries which dig oil, where
sheikhs earn millions and other live in poverty, the GNP per capita will count them equal dividing
their income and not showing how equitably income is distributed.
They do not account for pollution, environmental degradation, and resource depletion. As a result of
the problems outlined above, much of GDP can be composed of: fixing

Decline of Biblical Christianity and Rise of Modern ...
Christianity has quickly begun to lose its true meaning throughout the years. It s when people use
words like love and morals and common sense they just don t have the same meaning as they once did
all those years ago. Christianity though, unlike the previously stated words, has been modernized in
such ways that we have deceivingly altered things such as The Ten Commandments to foolishly fit our
desired lifestyles. We have begun a modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty First
Century Christianity. Christianity within itself has been the most complex simple part of life many
have ever had to endure, until really the late 1900 s when simplicity became the American standard for
most. First it was transportation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christianity is no longer a category in religion, but also a category of specific people ranging from,
yes again, modernized Christians who talk the talk but have no desire to walk the walk; and those who
are called radicles because they live out the Gospel teachings going overseas and devoting their lives
to Christ. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian
lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in his book Radicle, We are settling for a Christianity that
revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about
abandoning ourselves. Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an
American culture, his book Radicle being strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm
in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, So, because
you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Harsh? Yeah, probably
a little bit, and one might see this and do what many do in this era; see it, curse it, and go about their
lukewarm Christian lifestyle as they have been. You see, this is where our instant gratification society
begins to crumble. To live as the Bible commands us to also involves

Little Miss Sunshine Belonging
Film Analysis Introduction The society depicted in the film Little Miss Sunshine (Turtletaub, Faris,
and Dayton, 2006), is organized in meritocracies. In a meritocratic society, reward and status is solely
in response to an individual s achievement. In the film, status in society is gained as a reward for
winning the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. A meritocracy society is also witnessed through
Olive s father, Richard s nine step program, refuse to lose , which claims to create winners . In the
film, it is clear that everyone s goal should be to win. The society focuses on rewarding those who win
and placing them as higher and more powerful in society. Through a sociocultural perspective, I will
be analysing the social meaning, relations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we discussed in lecture, a sociocultural lens evaluates an individual from the outside in, in opposed
to the developmental lens, which looks from the inside out. While viewing the film for a second time,
I paid particular attention to aspects relating to the sociocultural lens. I noticed the social and cultural
factors which influenced Olive as supposed to the biological and cognitive factors. I found myself
taking note of events that impacted Olive as opposed to ways that Olive impacted events. Focusing in
on the sociocultural aspects while rewatching the film, made it easier for me to draw upon appropriate
examples to support my points regarding power, identity contexts and discourses. Overall, in the
movie Little Miss Sunshine, Olive Hoover, the lead character has power, the identity context that is
relevant to her is class and the discourse most present in the film is children as innocent. Combined,
all of these factors influence Olive and her family which can be witnessed when viewing and
analysing the film through a sociocultural

  • 2. Role Of Social Hierarchy In The Neolithic Age In the Paleolithic era, social hierarchy was determined by multiple factors such as position in the family, gender, age, and favorable personality traits. Titles were given to establish positions within each band. Titles could include, mother, father, husband, wife, brother, sister, child, etc. The higher the position in the band came power over others. (John P. McKay, Understanding World Societies, Pg14). The division of labor was determined by a person s sex and age. With biological factors, it was inevitable that there would be a division of labor for men and women. Women biologically are able to breast feed their young, which takes several years. At this time period formula was not invented yet, so breast milk was the only source of nutrition for infants. Women would breast feed and the men would most likely care for the infants. In a sense the women and men split the work to care for their young. Since the Paleolithic people had to rely on moving from place to place to gather their food, women also worked outdoors. The women gathered plants and animal products, meanwhile the men hunted. (McKay, Pg.13) Age was also a key factor in the division of labor in their society. Being elderly or a child would result in different task that would generally be easier because of the lack of strength. Unlike the Paleolithic era, in the Neolithic era Social hierarchies mainly came about as a result of plow agricultural society in both gender relations and division of labor. ... • 3. Jetblue s Good Service Quality ABSTRACT (Isabelle Aultman and Ben Cvek) In any business service quality is going to make or break the company in the long run. JetBlue has great ideas on how to compete and how to be lower priced while still gaining profit. Customer and provider gaps are all about what a customer expects, what a customer perceives, what a customer is willing to accept, what a company understands about those expectations, a company s communication both internal and external, and the company systems and processes (Zeithaml, et al.,2013). Although JetBlue had good service quality in place for the most part, it lacked the proper processes and systems to properly provide support. Ultimately, customers had expectations and were not willing to accept the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, JetBlue targeted large metropolitan areas with high average fares to compete with the larger airliners. Even small things such as more seats and a more fuel efficient aircraft increased profits. Things seemed to be running great for JetBlue as they increased the number of destinations. All of these things kept JetBlue profitable. It seems as though JetBlue has strayed from their original core values, although, the company seems to be on the way to resolving the issues that plague them. STRATEGIC PROFILE (John Beck and Admira Salazar) Starting Off In the Right Direction Jet Blue was birthed in 1999 by David Neeleman and went public in 2000 as an independently owned and operated Airline. Headquarters is located in Long Island, New York with its main base at John F. Kennedy International Airport with most of the flights occurring in the United States and the Caribbean (Docslide, 2015). From its very essences, JetBlue showed high signs of profitability, initially the company set out to sell over five and a half million shares at an average of $25 per share. However, the company actually topped off at $27 dollars selling almost 6 million in shares. Being in the airline industry means the level of competition is high, so JetBlue wanted to establish itself as a high end airline with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christ in Discipleship LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DIVINITY Writing Assignment 1 Christ in Discipleship Submitted to Dr. Gary Waller in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of DSMN 500 B03 Discipleship Ministries by David J. Miller May 29, 2016 Centrality of Christ in Christian discipleship Christian discipleship is to follow Jesus, to be his disciple, doesn t mean community involvement and the veneer of tolerance. It means, mainly, first and central, to worship him with joy at the heart. Making disciples of Jesus means gathering his worshipers. No better place in the Bible describes this than in Romans 12:1 8, Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Charles Horton Cooley Analysis A picture is made up of so many square inches of painted canvas; but if you should look at these one at a time, covering the others, until you had seen them all, you would still not have seen the picture. There may, in all such cases, be a system or organization in the whole that is not apparent in the parts. In this sense, and in no other, is there a difference between society and the individuals of which it is composed; a difference not residing in the facts themselves but existing to the observer on account of the limits of his perception. • 8. Economic Development Office For The State Of Texas The summer of 2014, I interned at the Economic Development Office for the state of Texas. The office was tasked with preparing relocation incentives for companies in order to create jobs. The office was split into different departments totaling about 45 people. The office worked strictly under the Governor. One would answer the phone, Office of the Governor, Economic Development... Economic Development offices around the country came under repetitive criticism for behaving as governors slush funds. Essentially there are clear lines of imperative control from superior offices. The office was responsible for overseeing the economic development of the whole state. In other ways, the office directly contrasted Weber s definition. Since the office was able to distribute funds and abate taxes, it made incredible financial decisions for companies and the taxpayers of the state. Awards could not be given out based on a specific set of rules. There was careful consideration into a companies intentions, how they were prepared for the future, and if they fit the new model of businesses Texas wanted to attract. In this regard, the office did not always make systematic decisions. Those promoted were the best performing, most ambitious, and took initiative; only residue of a seniority system remained. A meritocracy, in direct opposition to a tenured hierarchy, opened a dichotomy between the older and younger generations. Under performers were let go regardless of tenure. On a ... • 9. Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which the units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination with another term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110). For example, we know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad (Bressler, 111). Joseph Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary opposition of light/dark within The Picture of Dorian Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by contrasting a superior concept with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a major role in displaying class differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the East End, or the lower class part of London, while the West End is described as wealthy and cultured. Unit 3,and especially Module 11 grabbed my attention the most. Module 11 discusses stages of memory and memory processes. This module answers the most important questions: How our memory works? and How we are influenced by our memories? . One reaction paper wouldn t be enough for me to share my thoughts and point the most important parts of this chapter, but I will try to. The three stages model divides memory into three sequential stages: sensory, short term, and long term memory (R.C. Atkinson Shiffrin, 1968) (Plotnik and Kouyoumdjian 240). It all comes to the point, whether you pay attention to information. Only if you pay attention to information, then it will be transferred into the short term memory from sensory memory, otherwise you would forget it. Now if you pay attention to the information in short term memory, then it would be encoded and transferred into the long term memory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 15. The Decision Struck Down A Statute In 1976, by a 7 2 decision, the Court adopted an intermediate level of review for gender classifications in the case Craig v. Boren. The decision struck down a statute that allowed women over the age of eighteen to purchase beer but only men over the age of twenty one. Using this intermediate scrutiny, the Court has invalidated gender segregation across the board. However, while this heightened level of scrutiny has drastically helped women, it has not been equal in its effect on men. Since Craig, the Court has upheld a requirement that only men register for the draft (Rostker v. Goldberg) and a statutory rape law where only adult men were punished for having sex with an underage individual of the opposite sex (Michael M. v. Superior Court). While these cases occurred in the 80s, this trend of favoring women over men in gender discrimination cases has continued, especially in regards to administrative law and protection. Recent Supreme Court cases reveal that men are still being unfavorably ruled against over women, leading one to believe a push for strict scrutiny is key in bridging that gap and implementing a federal statute that all States must obey in order to ensure gender equality is achieved on both sides of the spectrum. Beginning in the 70s, even before the decision of Craig, one is able to notice a trend of men seeming to fail where women have strived in court. A notable case is Frontiero v. Richardson which involved a lieutenant of the United States Air Force ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that the framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion. To avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing of the Constitution. • 34. Unemployment Rates Introduction National unemployment rates are one of the key macroeconomic figures that indicate to an extent how well a country is performing at a certain point in time. These figures are widely used by economists because they can show economic growth or economic stagnation. One of the most significant steps that must be taken in order to reduce the unemployment rate is to find out what is causing it. There are many different factors that affect a country s economic is performance, which means that there is also a wide range of policies that can be implemented to reduce unemployment and improve economic performance. Typically there are two major types of employment factors demand side and supply side. Unemployment types, causes and effects According to John Sloman and Alison Wride (2010, p.32) unemployed person is considered to be the one who is without work, but is available for a one at current wage rates. Unemployment, however, is not only a personal issue but also a big social and economic problem, which leads to lost in human capital, incomes, production and lowering the standard of living as a whole. Depending on what is the cause of it, unemployment may be divided into frictional, structural and cyclical, where frictional and structural form the so called natural unemployment. The efficient market hypothesis suggests that there is no trading system based on currently available information that could be expected to generate excess risk adjusted returns consistently as this information is already reflected in current prices. However, EMH has been the most controversial subject of research in the fields of financial economics during the last 40 years. Behavioural finance, however, is now seriously challenging this premise by arguing that people are clearly not rational (Ross, (2002)). In strong form efficiency, the highest level of market efficiency, Fama (1991) pointed out the immeasurability of market efficiency and suggested that it must be tested jointly with an equilibrium model of expected. However, perfect efficiency is an unrealistic benchmark that is unlikely to hold in practice. Last but not least important, an efficient capital market is one in which stock prices fully reflect all available information. However, the paradox is that since information is reflected in security prices quickly, knowing information when it is released does an investor little good. He kept turning the crank on the box and giggling when the lid popped open and jack sprang out. He d eagerly stuff jack back into the box and start turning the crank again. I kept hearing the melody of Pop goes the Weasel over and over. I noticed another little boy gawking out of the corner of my eye. He was sitting a few feet away from the jack in the box. I could tell he desired to play with it. Two of the other toddlers started crying and distracted the boy with the jack in the box. While he was distracted, the gawking toddler grabbed it and started turning the crank. This toddler was confronted with temptation and he gave into it. Temptation is the desire to do something sinful. Temptation is something every man, woman and child confront. A toddler might be tempted to steal a toy away from another child. A teenager might be tempted to drink alcohol. A husband might be tempted to commit adultery. We deal with temptation from the time we come into this world and throughout our lives. Studying development is essentially about measuring how developed one country is compared to other countries or to the same country in the past. It is common knowledge that each country is aiming to be defined as developed. For us is to determine which measure is a better representative of how country is developed HDI or GNP per capita. Firstly, we will define what economic development is. Secondly we will compare Gross National Product and Gross Domestic Product. Thirdly, we will outline the problems with these indicators. On the other hand we have real GNP which measures the value of output in two or more different years by valuing the goods and services adjusted for inflation. Problems with GNP/GDP GNP is merely a gross measure of market activity which counts only money transactions and excludes goods and services (like taking care, cleaning, food preparation) that people provide each other free. In terms of developed economies like United Kingdom it would not be a huge difference, however in less developed countries much of its production takes place in the household economy like growing crops and farming animals for the purpose of the household not selling. Therefore it would not be included in countries GNP/GDP. The World Bank itself recognizes many of these problems. Although they reflect the average incomes in a country, GNP per capita and GDP per capita have numerous limitations when it comes to measuring people #8217;s actual well being. Taking as example countries which dig oil, where sheikhs earn millions and other live in poverty, the GNP per capita will count them equal dividing their income and not showing how equitably income is distributed. They do not account for pollution, environmental degradation, and resource depletion. As a result of the problems outlined above, much of GDP can be composed of: fixing ... It s when people use words like love and morals and common sense they just don t have the same meaning as they once did all those years ago. Christianity though, unlike the previously stated words, has been modernized in such ways that we have deceivingly altered things such as The Ten Commandments to foolishly fit our desired lifestyles. We have begun a modernization of Christianity I like to refer to as, Twenty First Century Christianity. Christianity is no longer a category in religion, but also a category of specific people ranging from, yes again, modernized Christians who talk the talk but have no desire to walk the walk; and those who are called radicles because they live out the Gospel teachings going overseas and devoting their lives to Christ. Now what are the differences between cultural (modern) Christian and biblical Christian lifestyles? Well as David Platt put it in his book Radicle, We are settling for a Christianity that revolves around catering to ourselves when the central message of Christianity is actually about abandoning ourselves. Basically, David Platt was kindly beating around the bush about us as an American culture, his book Radicle being strictly about American Christian culture, being lukewarm in our faith, relationship and devotion to Christ in the way we live. In Revelation 3:16, So, because you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Harsh? Yeah, probably a little bit, and one might see this and do what many do in this era; see it, curse it, and go about their lukewarm Christian lifestyle as they have been.
