Courtroom Interaction Essay
Courtroom interaction consists of interpretive aspects opened to the audience and jury. However,
courtroom accounts of events can be judged by common sense knowledge. In addition, cross
examinations rely on assessing the truth and invalidating the other accounts. It is problematic for
jurors due to common sense bases allowing desired influences to effect the verdict. When one is
interrogated during courtroom interaction, the turns are either designed to imply blame or justify an
action. For instance, a transcript of a 1979 case begins with a pre allocation in the form of a yes no
question. However, once the witness failed to comply with the turns, the council repeated the question
and enforced the yes no order. To illustrate, a member ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first pair is adjacency pairs , which anticipate the answers to be said by their second pair parts.
Together, these two pair parts are complementary through conditional relevance (Goodwin Duranti,
622). If the second pair part response were to not be given, it is then interpreted to be not present. This
can be simplified to expectations of explicit requests. If a request is made, the premade response is a
yes . When the response is unfavorable, the turn is then modified to restate the preferred answer. In
addition, when interrogating a witness, the courtroom uses agreement to format a basis of reasoning
for the accusation. (624). For instance, the witness s response to the amount of petrol bombs thrown
was only a couple . This response lessons the severity of the incident. Following the response of how
many bombs were dropped, the witness continues to add on to the response; which contained too
much information being said. Because too much information was given for a simple question, it
displays how the witness felt potentially attacked through that questioning (624). Thus, courtroom
questionings are favored to their own benefit, as well as the use of using agreement to form potential
guilt. To conclude, courtroom interaction through context in courtroom talk can differ. Interpretation
of the audience can be swayed by common sense knowledge, structure of turn by turn organization of
talk, and general

Hard Times And Pride And Prejudice Essay
The novels Hard Times (1854) written by Charles Dickens (1812 1870) and Pride and Prejudice
(1813) written by Jane Austen (1775 1817) are two very distinct literary works, written and published
in two completely different eras. While Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice in the Georgian era, Dickens
s novel Hard Times is a part of the Victorian age. These novels represent disparate worlds, that of rigid
and utilitarian aspects on one hand and domestic concerns over marriage and property on the other.
These novels represent women in a certain light, quite different from the each other, but the same. This
paper thus aims to analyse the portrayal of female characters by Dickens and Austen in the
aforementioned novels, in view of their gender identities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an opposition with which Dickens makes extended ironic play later in the story, when Sissy
becomes the homemaker, the most settled and the most respectable member of the Gradgrind family.
She is,at the beginning of the book, not only of questionable parentage but a virtual orphan. From this
situation there develops an ironic opposition between the ties of blood and those of affectiom, for
Sissy, deprived of a family by blood, is supported by the extended, unorthodox family of the circus
people and she eventually becomes Gradgrind s honorary and truest daughter. Her love is undying and
is not affected by his loveless teaching. Her devotion brings about family feeling in her new father and
sister as when, in Louisa s grave trouble, the once deserted girl shone like a beautiful light upon the
darkness of the other (Dickens, 248). Sissy becomes the motherly, sisterly and daughterly heart of the
adoptive family and her very nickname signals her familial role throughout the story, as the
archetypical sister. However, the reward for this depiction of virtue is confined within the family.
Although Sissy grows from child to woman in years, she does not move, like most of Dickens s good
women, beyond the roles of a surrogate mother, daughter and sister to sexual maturity. Initially, the

Essay On Rules In Hamlet
Boundaries of Society Rules are what keeps society in tact. Without rules there would be a lot of chaos
and everybody would be free to do whatever they like. People need some kind of restrictions in their
lives. During the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Hamlet seems to struggle through his mission
to kill his uncle for killing his father. The reasons for that are obvious, you can t just kill anyone out in
the obvious. There are rules that restrict you from doing that and if you are caught breaking those rules
there will be a horrible punishment waiting for you. The restrictions Hamlet had would be a prime
reason for why the book ended up how it did. Rules and Restrictions play a key role in society. Hamlet
could have done a lot to just kill his uncle but of course that is against the rules and if he were to do
that he would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Claudius kills his own brother to take over the thrown. That is by far the worst thing he could
have done. He wanted to be king so bad he killed his own brother for the spot of king. The reason he
did that is most likely because he then doesn t have to live by any of the rules just like all the others.
He is free to do whatever he wants to do as king of Denmark. Claudius doesn t have to live by any
restraints and is free to do whatever he likes. He doesn t have to live with any of those restraints and
the ironic thing about it is that he broke one the rules to get to where he is. This shows us that some
people in a society aren t scared to go against the restraints they have. They will do just about
anything to get to where they want to get to. This tells us that society can t live within the rules and
will always want to do whatever they want. People don t do anything though, and that s because they
are terrified of the punishment they will get, but if they don t get penalized for their actions then they
will go on a streak and won t be scared to get caught at

Texas Vs Fort Myers Essay
Florida is known as the Sunshine State. Whereas Texas is the Lone Star state. Both states are complete
opposites, beaches vs cowboys. So which is better, there really isn t a true winner. Both states have
amazing cities. For example, Fort Myers Florida and Porter Texas. Both these cities are good to live
in. Although they both are very similar, one has more activities for you to do and the other is more
calm.
Notably Florida is known for having many glamorous Theme Parks. Fort Myers is positioned just
three hours south from all the big Parks. It doesn t have all the traffic of living in a congested city like
Orlando, but is close enough to be able to leave your house at five or six in the morning and arrive at
Universal studios as it is opening. The closest Theme park to Fort Myers is Busch Gardens. This park
is literally a giant zoo with roller coasters. There s Tigers, Cheetahs, giraffes and many more exotic
animals here. You can take safari tours or ride the Cheetah Hunt, a roller coaster that reaches the speed
of a cheetah. About an hour east of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

located just miles apart. They are just as what you think Florida beaches would be like, white sands,
clear water, and hot weather. Whereas in order to do anything amusing at Porter you have to travel out
to the city of Houston. Houston isn t very far from Porter and there s many amusing activities to do

Essay on crusades
Crusading, much like Imperialism in the 20th century, was all about expansion. During the middle
ages however, it was more about the expansion of religion rather then power, or at least that s the way
it was preached. Crusading by definition is; a holy war authorized by the pope, who proclaimed it in
the name of god of Christ. It was believed to be Christ s own enterprise, legitimized by his personal
mandate (1). This essay examines the background of the crusades to offer a better understanding as to
why they occurred. It also examines the effects that the crusades had on the world. It is easy to look at
the crusades as a violent meaningless act, but one must understand the type of setting this movement

Knights would go in the hope of acquiring power and control over this new land. The chance at
commercial success in new places was a huge determining factor for the western merchants of the day.
Adventure, money, land, and religion were all big reasons for participating in the Crusades of the
Middle Ages (4).
The first Crusade began on November 27th 1095, as a response to the attack on the Byzantine Empire
by the Muslims. Pope Urban II inspired many clergy and laypeople to join the crusading force. There
was much excitement for the new adventure that awaited the people of Europe. They united at the
Byzantine capital of Constantinople and launched a counter attack against the Seljuk conquerors of
Anatolia. They then fought and overtook many city states belonging to the Byzantine Empire with
final destination Jerusalem, in their sights (5). The Majority of people who joined the crusades were
from France, with others coming from Lorraine, Burgundy, Flanders, and Italy. Many common people
were interested in crusading as well as noble individuals. The reason for this was the chance of finding
and claiming any land once they had overtaken parts of the Middle East (6). The crusaders enjoyed
considerable success during their first couple of years. In only their first month of crusading they
conquered Anatolia in the year 1097. During the same year they won a decisive victory over the Turks,

Human Impact On No2 And Company Comparison
Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison
Lynn Dietrich
Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars
Abstract
Human activity can change the world incredibly fast. We have to monitor those changes the best we
can in order to understand any damage that is being done. We use satellites and specialized
instruments to monitor the changes in our atmosphere. The levels of pollution that humans are
responsible for has to be monitored so that any danger can be avoided. We have to study the
components of the atmosphere to understand what is harmful and what is not.
Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison OMI, or Ozone Monitoring Instrument, is an

It is formed when hydrocarbon fuels are burned (Thompson). CO is mainly produced by industrial
processes, some fires, and internal combustion engines (Blakemore and Jennett, 2016). Like NO2, the
highest levels of carbon monoxide will be found in places with large cities and industries. Carbon
monoxide has local and global effects. High amounts are dangerous to people s health locally. CO can
be spread by winds throughout the troposphere, having a global effect (Ichoku). Carbon monoxide is
being studied to see its role in atmospheric chemistry and the ability of the atmosphere to cleanse itself
of harmful pollutants (Ichoku). Humans are the source of a huge amount of pollution. Human activity
has caused nitrogen dioxide levels to rise. This rise has increased pollution levels and has hurt the
atmosphere. Human activity has also caused carbon monoxide levels to rise, but unlike NO2, carbon
monoxide can easily be spread around the world by wind. The spread of carbon monoxide has added
to pollution and hurt the atmosphere. Human activity can have a very drastic effect on our world in a
relatively short amount of time. With the help of satellites and monitoring instruments, we can see
those effects and try to act on the data before any major damage is done. As humans continue to
pollute the environment, scientists continue to monitor the constant changes in the atmosphere and
other components to try and understand

The Unethical Decisions of Cutting Corners on Construction...
Ethics
The reason that most people go into construction is because it is a job skill that can be used world
wide, and there are many different ways to make a decent living. Due to the current economic
situation, the construction business has been sluggish. Contractors have been earning a smaller amount
than they used to and this causes, most contractors and subs to cut corners and the customer or owner
pays the ultimate price of lousy job. Most of these activities are unethical and dangerous.
Ethics is described as the duty as a person to do the righteous actions and have respectable morals. If
someone is ethical then he or she will be able to associate between what is right and wrong, and carry
out ethical acts in all situations. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Situational ethics can be when hard hats are required when working outside the building but not when
inside due to the heat. Ethical behavior should not wave around but steady and firm. One of the major
areas in which ethics have to be implemented and is tied into is safety. Even though safety is everyone
s job, it is theoretically the job of the contractor to safety, which is ethical and moral part of the job. As
a contractor, he is the one in charge to provide and enforce a safe working environment and also hiring
a safety engineer to oversee this part of the project. If the contractor defrauds on safety for any reason,
it is considered unethical. Due to this stringent rules and previous mistakes, this is a big priority that
must be done.
Unethical practices in construction are bid rigging, bid shopping, and front end loading. These are all
forms of collusion that are unethical and schemes that are associated with the construction business.
Bid rigging is the way that scheming competing contractors effectively increase the prices where
owners are often federal, state, or local governments. They acquire services by put out competing bids;
in which, competitors agree in before hand who will be submitting the accepted bid on a contract that
is being handed into the competitive bids. This is a scheme that a lot of big name contractors would
use to help each other out, but the owner is the one paying and loosing out. Bid shopping when

Wizard of Oz Cinema
Wizard of oz Film As A Work Of Art According to Film Art, it consists of setting, costume and
makeup, lighting, and staging (Bordwell 115). In The Wizard of OZ these aspects of Mise en Scene all
come together to make up a spectacular viewing experience. Created in 1939 and directed by Victor
Fleming, The Wizard of Oz was one of the first successful Technicolor films. Since this film was shot
primarily in color, it gave the directors and costume designers many new opportunities to use color in
ways that they hadn t been able to before. The main point I will be demonstrating is how the
filmmakers effectively used color and costuming to convey certain feelings and messages throughout
the film. The opening scene of Oz was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was an extremely intricate process to handle and required enormous amounts of light to properly
expose. While it was the most expensive process available to Hollywood at the time, it yielded an
unequaled color quality. The studio chose the three strip process because it worked out well with black
and white stock. The framing of Dorothy s fantasy was processed in black and white, heightening the
effect of the Technicolor journey to Oz. The fact that the three strip process originated in a black and
white stock made this easier. For these reasons production occurred entirely indoors on the sound
stages of MGM. Because of the large set, as many as nine cameras hidden in bushes or potted plants
would be used to film one scene. The hidden cameras took close ups, while the main camera, used to
capture the whole scene, was on the end of a boom and was constantly moving. The extensive lighting
equipment necessary for Technicolor photography in 1939 is very apparent in these behind the scenes
shots. Banks of lights lined the floor of the stages and the catwalks above the actors and made the set
uncomfortably hot, especially for the actors wearing heavy costumes. Because the film was studio
bound, a lot of responsibility fell on the special effects department. Mattes were used extensively to
give depth to the Kansas landscape, and a sense of distance to the Land of Oz. Intricate trick
photography was employed to allow a

Essay on Ellen Foster
Ellen Foster
Ellen Foster is the compelling story of a young girl who is thrust into reality at a very early age.
Written by Kaye Gibbons, the novel is a documentary of the saga of growing up. It is a recurring
theme, growing up, depicted through many events over the course of this girl^s childhood. This
growing up theme is evident through the experiences she has, as well as the many hardships she faces.
Ellen^s awkward situation of two dead parents forces her to lose her innocence at a young age, and
mature much faster than any other person her age. This is shown through her in depth observations
about the world and people around her, such as ^He was a big wind up doll of a man.^ This metaphor
depicts her father, a lazy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Equally important in growing up are friendship, prejudice, and death, all of which are present in the
childhood of Ellen
Foster. Her friendship with a black girl named Starletta is a subject of much controversy. Not
controversy with other people, but controversy within Ellen^s own mind. Her feelings towards her
best friends are contorted by society^s acceptance of other races. This is a common thing among
younger people. Not necessarily among races, but more along the lines of good kids versus bad kids.
Society^s perception of who^s good and who^s bad really affects a child^s perception of who they
should or shouldn^t be seen with. Ellen at the beginning of the book is somewhat ashamed of
Starletta, because she eats dirt, and also feels sorry for her because she only has a one room house, and
doesn^t even have an ^inside the house^ toilet. As the story progresses,
Ellen^s opinions twist and turn until she reaches the conclusion ^If they could fight a war over how
I^m supposed to think about her then
I^m obligated to do it.^ This is evidence for her evolution as a person, or growing up. Her views of the
world mature at a young age, as does she. Work is also an important part of growing up. Ellen gets her
first taste of real manual labor when she moves in with her grandmother, who feels a deep resentment
for Ellen, because she blames

Amistad War
The touchiest issue that somebody can bring up in the early nineteenth century is slavery. The
Amistad, paradoxically a ship that means companionship, was the location of one of the utmost
historic slave upheavals ran by black Africans in 1839. This rebellion gained substantial attention from
the American population, the media, as well as other intercontinental interests. It was the black
insurgence on board the Amistad that ignited the fundamental concerns of legislations, slavery,
sectionalism, faith, trade rights, and anti British sentiment that had previously beleaguered the country
at the time of the Amistad event. The controversy drew the whole world into the battle over social and
property rights, a dispute that alienated our nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The north and south became progressively separated over slavery and states rights to create
regulations that affect their citizens. Amistad emphasizes the firmly entrenched divisions between the
North and South, especially when it comes to the institution of slavery during the trial between the
two sides. When the judge grants freedom to the slaves the opposing side was very upset and was not
afraid to show their feelings. Also, there was a coincidence in the movie when the slave s lawyer had
been struck on the head by someone who disagreed with his actions. This shows the tension between
the north and the south because so many people invested their time and heart into this that trial for the
slaves to be able to go back to their homeland.
Eric Foner, a professor at History at Columbia University states that, Amistad presents a highly
misleading account of the case s historical significance, in the process sugarcoating the relationship
between the American judiciary and slavery. The film gives the distinct impression that the Supreme
Court was convinced by Adams plea to repudiate slavery in favor of the natural rights of man, thus
taking a major step on the road to abolition. By this, Foner is stating that the movie is not as
historically accurate as it could have

Technical Decision Questions On Programming The Fms And...
The first decision discussed in programming the FMS and ACARS will be choosing the correct
runway to request data for. Choosing the runway is an analytical decision, as information needs to be
analyzed correctly. An airport s ATIS will list the active runways in use for departures. If multiple
runways are being used for departure, pilots will need to anticipate the runway they will use. Pilot will
use their location relative to the runways, direction of departure, and previous experience to decide on
a runway. Pilot s previous experience can be heuristic as certain airport conditions lead to specific
runway operations. It is sometimes referred to as tribal knowledge when anticipating the correct
runway. Sometimes airports will use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There can also be a runway change after the initial assignment, which leads to the task starting all
over. Time is the biggest stressor in this decision. A pilot always wants to anticipate the correct runway
so that it will reduce their workload during taxing. If they picked the wrong runway they then have a
lot of work starting the request task over in a short period of time.
The second decision looked at will be deciding if the received data is correct and valid to accept and
use. This decision can be either intuitive analytical. Analytical is the correct way to make the decision
however. The decision is analytical because pilots are supposed to verify all the information that was
used to compute the takeoff data such as wind, altimeter, flap setting, and runway. That takes
additional time but is the correct method. Most pilots make the decision using intuitive decisions
making. Pilots receive preliminary takeoff data during their preflight. If the v speeds on the final
takeoff data received is within a knot or two of the preliminary takeoff data v speeds pilots will use
that as their check. They can accomplish that much quicker and use it as a shortcut. If any of the
information isn t correct for the situation it is important pilots catch it or it can lead to invalid data
being used. Time is the biggest pressure in this decision. This decision is generally made while taxing
which is a high

The Structure Of Amino Acids
Proteins are very large molecules known as polymers. Polymers are made up of smaller repeating
units called monomers, the monomers of proteins are called amino acids.
Molecular Structure of an Amino Acid The structure of an amino acid consists of an amino group
(NH2) and a carboxyl acid group (COOH) bonded to a central carbon atom (C) with a hydrogen atom
(H) and a side chain (R) which is variable.
There are twenty different types of amino acids of which eight are essential to the human body. All
amino acids include the the above basic structure, it is only the variable side chain (R) that differs in
each of the amino acids. It is this different arrangement of atoms on the side chain that makes each
amino acid unique. The smallest amino acid found in proteins is glycine, in which the side chain
consists of just a single hydrogen atom (The Biology Project, 2003).
To make proteins, amino acids must be bonded together into chains. The bond is called a peptide bond
and is formed by condensation reaction.
Condensation Reaction Between Two Amino Acids to Form a Dipeptide
A peptide bond is formed between the carboxyl acid group (COOH) of one amino acid and the amino
group (NH2) of another amino acid by condensation reaction. During the condensation reaction, the
oxygen and hydrogen atoms (OH) from the carboxyl group of the first amino acid and the hydrogen
atom (H) from the amino group of the second amino acid are lost. This means

EuripidesMedea, Hippolytus, And Electra
The Minds of Euripides s Creations Upon a first inspection of Euripides s Medea, Hippolytus, and
Electra, women were depicted as a vicious brood for the only purpose of bringing men to their ruin.
However, this was not the case at all. Euripides portrayed women as downtrodden individuals because
of the scorned love they had experienced. Love was the main factor in all of these plays. In addition,
Euripides presented how women were influenced by their emotions. Euripides s Medea characterized
a woman, Medea, who was driven by her anger at Jason s betrayal to perform atrocious acts. She was
grief stricken because Jason treated her like a harlot and broke her heart. She was stricken by the
sinful desire of revenge that she was even willing to murder her own children to make Jason pay for
his actions for marrying another woman (Medea 1 4). She felt betrayed by Jason because she
sacrificed everything familiar to her to journey across the vast seas to be with him (Medea 13 14).
Medea had a right to want revenge because she knew that Jason was cheating on her with another
woman. Jason attempted to justify his new marriage by pointing out that the only reason he was
marrying this other woman was to support his children and her in the best possible way (Medea 15
17). Jason s endeavors only added fuel to Medea s loathing. He claimed that all of his actions were
just, and Medea was only jealous because she was not copulating with him anymore. He was being

The legislation was repealed in 1999 when key players from the financial arena urged Congress to
pass the Gramm Leach Bliley Act to reverse Glass Steagall s restrictions on bank securities (Heakal,
2003).
Financial Reform Today
Dodd Frank is the latest financial reform passed by Congress, and by far the most extensive.
According to Amadeo, Dodd Frank is the most comprehensive reform since the Glass Steagall Act of
1933 (2012, para.1). The goals of Dodd Frank are to implement consumer protections, end bailouts
with tax payer money, create a council to identify risks, eliminate loopholes for risky behavior,
implement say on pay for executives, protect investors, and enforce strict regulations on Wall Street
(House of Representatives, n.d.). Dodd Frank lacks clarity and is lengthy, running over 1,000 pages
long (New York, 2012). In many cases, Dodd Frank does not contain explicit rules, but instead creates
an outline whereby financial oversight agencies have been charged with conducting research and
writing and implementing the rules.
Who Are the Agencies Responsible for Implementing Dodd Frank? Prior to the financial crisis, the
overall responsibility for financial oversight was divided among several different agencies. These
agencies and their varying rules and standards led to certain entities not being regulated at all, with
others subject to less oversight than their peer

Dogs and Cats Compare and Contrast
Raising pets is a good habit; through it you can learn how to take care of domestic animals. You may
also have many other advantages; such as while you raise a pet you will have a very sincere friend for
you. Most people like to have cats or dogs as pets, but which is better cats or dogs. Both cats and dogs
are easy to be raised but they differ in many things that you may prefer to raise one of them instead of
the other. They differ in terms of cleaning, exercising, and training.
It is already known that cats are very clean animals. They clean them selves by their tongues. They
clean them selves using sands. Also cats clean their children. You do not need to clean them, just
depend on them to make themselves clean. As cats do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do not move a lot, unless there is a need to their movement. Dogs also do not create tricks; you
need to teach them every single movement. Another important part in raising dogs is training; you
need to have extra time to train your dog. Teaching your dog to obey instructions requires you
allowing the dog to do the right commands and correct the wrong ones. You must never be too hard on
the dog and avoid striking it; otherwise it will not obey you. If it tends to obey you because of
punishment, it will be unhappy. Try to reward your dog as you train it, to get what you want and to
make your dog follow the instructions. As a result of dogs requiring cleaning, exercising, and training,
you have to provide your dog with proper leadership. In consequence, you will spend much more time
to take care of your dog.
While dogs and cats are a lot alike, you have to consider their differences before you choose your pet.
As mentioned before cats do not require cleaning nor exercising or training, while dogs are in need of
all these things. If you want to raise a pet then, try to manage your time before you choose your best

The Government Authority Of The United States
When one looks at federalism throughout the United States, do most think that it is still relevant to this
day? Some think that it has remained consistent since the passing of the Constitution. But some people
in today s society think that the government authority that is supposed to be shared between the
national and local governments is starting to be overpowered by federal law and local and state
governments are not getting the rights promised to them years ago when the Constitution was passed.
The reality in today s society is that apart from military affairs and international diplomacy, most
national laws, policies, and programs are shaped, administered, or funded in whole or in part through a
complex, and often contentious system of federal state relations. The arguments of the antifederalists
are beginning to come through, that even though states still have some flexibility in implementing
policies, it is overall the federal government that has the final say. The federal government has taken
over many places in which used to be governed over by that states, such as social welfare policy,
education, health care, and a minimum wage (Wilson, DiIulio, Bose, 2011). A big debate in recent
years over whether it should be regulated by federal or state law is the debate over gun control
throughout the United States. The debate over gun control in the United States today relates to the
debate over federalism because of different cases in recent history relating to gun

Holden s Childhood
Holden, a young adult has trouble accepting the fact that he is growing up, and time cannot wait for
him to accept that. He constantly struggles to realize that actions come with consequences, and that
one cannot remain a kid and an adult at the same time. One must make decisions and determine what
kind of future they want to have based on those decisions
Actions come with consequences, and learning that as a kid is important for one s adulthood. Old
Spencer has a serious conversation with Holden about his paper, and then gives him a lecture about
life. Old Spencer knows that Holden is struggling to find his way. Life is a game, boy. Life is a game

Holden deeply admires his little sister, Phoebe. She is warm hearted, kind, intelligent, and a person
Holden would love to be. He admires her childness as well. A huge part of it is the innocence kids
have when they are young. Evidence: She had her mouth way open. It s funny. You take adults, they
look lousy when they re asleep and they have their mouths way open, but kids don t. Kids look all
right (159). Phoebe s childlike actions are clearly acceptable since she is only a kid. This is what
Holden enjoys and feels depressed about. He likes the feeling of getting away with things that kids
can, and doesn t want to lose this. Towards the end of the book, we see how Holden has changed a bit.
He uses an example to show the lessons kids need to learn when growing up: The thing with kids is, if
they want to grab for the golden ring, you have to let him do it, and not say anything. If they fall off,
they fall off, but it s bad if you say anything to them (211). Holden uses this example that has us see
another side of holden, how kids need to learn from their mistakes. He has trouble throughout the
book learning from his actions, and this helps him become a stronger individual. Throughout the book,
Holden has been known for lying, and how it just happens. At this time of his life, he s with his sister
at the zoo, happy as can be and shows a side of him that s honest. Did you mean it what you said?

Friar Lawrence Quotes
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there were many people that played
important roles, but one would think that Friar s role was the most important. In the play Romeo and
Juliet meet Friar Lawrence. He is a priest that lives on the outskirts of Verona and he is always there to
give a helping hand. Romeo first met him when he was going to ask Friar to marry him and Juliet.
From there through the rest of the play he has always been someone to give support to Romeo and
Juliet. One would believe that Friar Lawrence is the backbone of the play because he guides and leads
Romeo and Juliet through the many problems that they have: therefore, he is one of the most

Prospective Memory Performance
Motivation and Environmental Cues: Predictors of Prospective Memory Performance Prospective
memory (PM) is defined as the memory to perform future intentions and includes things such as
picking up a gift for a friend on the way home from work or remembering to take medication at a
certain time each day (Einstein McDaniel, 1990). In the real world these intentions are often
performed to benefit others and are considered pro social in nature (Brandimonte, Ferrante, Bianco,
Grazia Villani, 2010). Past research has identified social PM tasks as being perceived as more
important than PM tasks that benefit the self (Penningroth, Scott, Freuen, 2011). An example of a

Dody Dysmorphic Disorder
Body dysmorphic disorder or BDD is a type pf mental illness in which you can t stop thinking about a
flaw in your appearance. You intensely obsess over your appearance and body image, often for many
hours a day. Your perceived flaw causes you significant distress, and your obsession impacts your
ability to function in your daily life. You may seek out numerous cosmetic procedures or excessively
exercise to try to fix your perceived flaw, but you re never satisfied. Body dysmorphic disorder is also
known as dysmorphophobia, the fear of having a deformity. Although the exact cause of BDD is still
unclear, experts believe it is related to problems with serotonin, one of the brain s chemical
neurotransmitters. Poor regulation of serotonin also plays a role in obsessive compulsive disorder
(OCD) and other anxiety disorders, as well as depression Some people may be more prone to
problems with serotonin balance, including those with family members who have problems with
anxiety or depression. This may help explain why some people develop BDD but others don t.
Cultural messages can also play a role in BDD by reinforcing somebody s concerns about appearance.
Critical messages or unkind teasing about appearance as someone is growing up may also contribute
to a person s sensitivity to BDD. But while cultural messages, criticism, and teasing might harm
someone s body image, these things alone usually do not result in BDD. People with BDD obsess over
their appearance

David Robert Mitchell s It Follows
In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to age
with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful, romantic
realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical slasher horror film, exploring
loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual morality, it never
strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell uses a number of
ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more prevalent or important
than his use of diegetic and non diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound effects, and music set the
tone and mood of It Follows from beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed
previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a single
beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent beats, sound
effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying greatly in style,
tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the film with a
volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching static sounds,
pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes are all combined
and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable with anything it
hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds, and alternating
levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These strategies, much like the
foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming, impending doom the characters
face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane

Andrew Jackson A Hero
President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education. Described
as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a wild reputation.
Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American Revolution. Orphaned
by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After spending all of his inheritance
on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his fortune was by entering the legal
profession. Successful in his career as a prosecutor, Jackson was later elected a seat on the Tennessee
Superior Court, a position he served for six years.
In the textbooks, Andrew Jackson is known as a national war hero, a title he received after his victory
at New Orleans during the War of 1812. However, his military career began in 1802 when he won the
election as a general to the Tennessee state militia. Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His motivation for party organization was driven by his own issues with congress. Issues for the
Democratic Party included concern for the widening gap between social classes. Bankers and
merchants, for example, easily enhanced their wealth to the disadvantage of producers such as,
farmers, artisans, and laborers. They believed a hands off approach toward the economy would be fair
to the people rather than the government only favoring wealthy businessmen. Their ideas attracted
aspiring entrepreneurs and poorer farming regions in the Northwest and the South. The formation of
the Whig Party in 1834 was due to Jackson s controversial performance in office. Whigs supported the
American System believing that the federal should set a protective tariff in place, as well as a national
bank, and be responsible for internal improvements. The Whig Party appealed to those in the

Theory Of Reasoned Action
2.5.1 Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA)
Theory of Reasoned Action is a model for prediction of behavioral intention spanning prediction of
attitudes and normative beliefs (Southey, 2011; Pai Huang, 2011). This theory has been used by
researchers for technology adoption studies (Southey, 2011). The theory has developed by Martin
Fishbein and Icek Ajzen (1975, 1980). Sadeghi and Farokhian (2011) stated, according to this theory,
attitudes towards the behavior and subjective norms influence individual s intent to adopt an
innovation. Following equation shows clearly the association of these two factors.

According to this theory, it implies that individual s behaviors are within a person s control and their
actual behavior is foreseen by their behavioral intention. Further, theory shows that two factors of
attitude towards the behavior and beliefs which are related to other people s assistance of behavior
determine the individual intention. However, theory does not give any evidence related to people s
culture and trust how affects the user behavior.
2.5.2 Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)
The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is a theory about the link between beliefs and behavior. In
1985, the concept of TPB was proposed by Icek Ajzen to improve the predictive power of the theory
of reasoned action by including perceived behavioral controls (Pai Huang, 2011). Southey (2011)

According to Exodus 20:11 : For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all
that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed
it. This verse is found in the middle part of the Tеn Commandmеnts. God told the Israelites that the
reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because He created everything and
rested on the seventh day. It is thus not realistic to think we have to work for six long periods (millions
of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states that Jesus woke up three days after his
crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years.
Meredith Kline, from Westminster Theological Seminary proposed that Genesis should be interpreted
metaphorically and not literally like most of us do. Old Earth creationists believe that scientific
evidence cannot be overlooked. Scientists use the method of radiometric aging from meteorite
material to determine the age of Earth. Fossils were found that are much older than a few thousand
years, for example dinosaurs.

not have a valid explanation of how life initially began, that is where science and Christianity are
compatible. Christianity can

Describe Yourself As A Writer
When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I see

stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a writer, I

First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right

other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just think
about what I know and don t know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or
sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to
get started.
After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it is

A Raisin In The Sun Analytical Essay
A Raisin in the Sun is an excellent example of distinctive character s and conflict. Walter Younger and
Ruth have no values to share together to help them appreciate one another. To a significant point, no

he believes in the world is presented to him. At first, he does not wish to change his position. Things
that he cannot change by himself frustrates his only source of any rewards that he may expect. Both

two families share a single bathroom, and the building is run down and roach infested. These
pressures increase when Walter s wife, Ruth, finds out that she is pregnant for the second time, and

The purpose of this research was to answer one key research question: How can the generational
communication gap between the Baby Boomer generation and Generation Y be closed in order to
allow them to have meaningful interpersonal communication?

On the contrary, Baby Boomers value face to face communication. Baby Boomers are digital
immigrants who grew up without technology. They had to migrate to using technology. According to
Prensky cited in Venter (2016), members of the Baby Boomer generation had to learn the digital
language in order to communicate with the digital natives. Some members still experience difficulty in
maintaining their digital immigrant accent (p.3). Baby Boomers prefer face to face communication
because of the presence of body language and non verbal cues which are important to them (Walmsley
cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).Therefore, members of the Baby Boomer generation will only resort to
computer mediated communication if the context does not allow for face to face communication. For
example, the Baby Boomer generation will send emails or phone another person if they cannot walk or
drive to that person, they rarely resort to only instant messaging to fill their interpersonal
communication (Venter, 2016, p. 2). Members of the Baby Boomer generation do not appreciate
technological skills of Generation Y because they prefer learning in a step by step process instead of
multitasking. (Prensky cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).
The research was conducted as a literature review using the cues filtered out approach and the social

Cut Carnations Lab Report
Abstract The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the influence of various chemicals on the
senescence of cut carnations (Dianthus caryophyllus). Treatments involved included a control bleach
(0.01% sodium hypochlorite) solution, a diluted sucrose solution (1% sucrose in 0.01% sodium
hypochlorite) and a concentrated sucrose solution (3% sucrose in 0.01% sodium hypochlorite), with 4
trials for each treatment. Results showed the most effective solution for prolonging the life of cut
carnations was the 3% sucrose solution, as flowers in this solution spend longer times in stages of
senescence while only reaching the withering stage of senescence. It can then be said that higher
concentration of sugar solutions promotes cut flower longevity. ... Show more content on

Tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union in...
The Cold War was the name given to the time period from 1945 to 1991. After World War II, tensions
began between the United States and the Soviet Union. Fighting between the United States and Soviet
Union did not happen directly against each other. Instead they fought with arms races, space races, and
spying. Both superpowers set aside their differences to defeat Adolf Hitler, even before the war the
United States distrusted the Soviet Union. The United States disliked the way the Soviet Union ran
government. They believed that the Soviet Union wanted to overthrow the non communist
governments.
The Cold War was rising when a revolution in Russia occurred. One of the socialist majority parties,
the Bolsheviks overthrew the Czar, and it led to a communist government. The creation of the Union
of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) feared America that the Soviet Union challenged the democratic
values of the United States. President Woodrow Wilson saw that the Bolsheviks leader Vladimir
wanted to spread communism around the world. Wilson sent troops in 1919 to try to defeat the
revolutions.
Before World War II, Soviet troops occupied most of Eastern Europe. Stalin promised to hold free
elections in these Eastern European nations. Later he broke that promise. By 1948, Communists
controlled the governments of every Eastern country except Yugoslavia. In each country the Soviets
placed dictators.
In 1946 British statesman (respected leader or figure) Winston Churchill, warned

Plagiarism Is Wrong
My assignment is to write a four page essay about plagiarism and why it is wrong and to be avoided.
According to the internet, plagiarism is taking someone else s work and acting as if it is original with
you . The actual author is not given proper credit for their thoughts, ideas, and concepts per the
internet dictionary. When the writing does not have the right notations people will assume that you
wrote it if your name is on the paper. If another person work is used provide quotes! Plagiarism is
considered academic dishonesty and a breach of writing ethic. It does not mean that you said it was
your work, but you acted as if it is yours. Some people plagiarize because they have a good memory.
They did not mean to or didn t recall hearing it or reading it. But if someone asks you about it and you
are silent, it is equal to acting like it your original work. One example of plagiarism is when you pay
people to do your work and turn it in. Copying a book or chapter is plagiarism. Cheating off of a
classmate paper is another example. Taking credit for someone s quotes. Asking your girl friend to do
your homework. Copying off your brother who took the class last year.
There are a number of reasons why plagiarism is wrong. Some people work hard studying and
thinking to come up with their writings ideas and you just take it as if it is your own. Next, plagiarism
is wrong because it is academic dishonesty. Also it will jeopardize your own work that you did from

A Safe Insulation, DuPont Hempcrete
Fiberglass insulation is used in about 90% of homes in the United States and has the potential to cause
multiple serious health issues. Hemp insulation can take all these concerns out of the picture with
many of the ways hemp is naturally ecologically friendly. Hemp comes from a cousin of the cannabis
sativa plant which also produces marijuana. When hemp is grows it grows at a very fast rate and can
be easily grown in many conditions. The plant is used to make the hemp insulation called hempcrete
with other additives. The other parts of the plant can be used to make other various essential items for
the human life. Although hemp is illegal in the United States it can be grown through a system of
licensed growers in the United States and can also be bought from growers in Canada and Europe and
shipped to the United States. Using hemp and a lime is the best alternative for an insulation because
both products are readily available and easy to obtain. Hemp can be believed to be the future of
insulation for many reasons.
Hempcrete can be eco friendly and beneficial in many ways. As the fast growing hemp plant grows it
naturally removes carbon dioxide from the air making it environmentally friendly (Crawford A Green
Alternative to Insulation Materials ). Hemp takes this carbon dioxide and transfers it to the soil
making the soil rich for future crop rotations. This was the case when hemp was tested at the
Chernobyl site to test if it would help heal the soil that was

Carolina Panthers Essay
The Carolina Panthers had to come out of the locker room after the first half needing to get something
going if they were going to come back and beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. The first half
was dominated by the defense. Whose defense would be able to hold out for the rest of the game
would determine who would win the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos defense king in Super Bowl 50
The first play was a run, which again, like in the first half, Denver shut down. However, the next play
Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn for 45 yards. Ginn began to be Newton s go to player. However, While the
pass started to work for Carolina, it was not enough to get them a touchdown and the Panthers
attempted a 44 yard field goal. However Graham Gano, the Panthers ... Show more content on

On a first down pass, a penalty on the Panthers gave Denver an additional 15 yards. However,
Manning s arm was hit on the next play as he attempted a pass and Carolina recovered the ball on the
50 yard line. The Panther offense could not capitalize on the turnover and were forced to settle for a
39 yard field goal by Gano. This time it was good, and it inched the Panthers closer to Denver, but
they still trailed the Broncos 16 10.
As time ticked away in the fourth quarter, the Denver Broncos started working on running the clock
down. They ran the ball as much as they could then would punt the ball down the field and count on
the Broncos defense to keep Cam Newton from getting the Panther offense going. And it worked. Von
Miller, who was so big for Denver s defense in the first half, caused Newton to fumble and the
Broncos recovered the ball on the four yard line.
After a defensive hold call against Carolina, Denver s C.J. Anderson fought his way into the end zone
for Denver s first offensive touchdown of the game. This gave Denver a 24 10 lead after a successful
two point conversion. That made things tough for Carolina, with just over three minutes left and
trailing by 14 points, Cam Newton had a big, almost impossible task in front of

A Summary Of Miriam ToewsA Complicated Kindness
The culture depicted in Miriam Toews A Complicated Kindness is a counterculture to modern society
and Christianity. Countercultures can have either a negative or positive impact on its members. In the
case of East Village, it creates a constricting environment where citizens are unable to expand their
mind. It is a fundamentalist Mennonite community where the church is the head of power. The
citizens focus most of their energy on being faithful followers of the church to ensure their place in
heaven when the rapture comes. As a result, people aren t given the tools they need to succeed outside
of their culturally isolated community. They take the bible literally with no room for interpretation.
With the lack of change in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If someone sins or acts in a way the church deems inappropriate they are excommunicated and forced
to live in exile in their own home. Instead of giving people support when they succumb to their
weaknesses, the church casts them out. The act of excommunication forces people to choose between
their faith and the love of their family. During the time period the novel is set, people were encouraged
to stand out and strive for better things. However, in East Village the opposite is true. As Nomi said,
[T]he biggest sin in our town was to be sure of yourself (Toews 65). She goes on to say that, The
second biggest sin in town was to need a lot of things (Toews 65). This expresses how the citizens of
East Village are expected to accept what they have been given and remain satisfied with how life is.
The atmosphere is suffocating and leaves no room for personal growth or self expression. It is this
kind of environment that creates a counterculture within the community; comprised mostly of young
adults looking for an escape.
East Village is stuck in its old fashioned ways and reluctant to accept the changes happening outside
of their community. No trains run through town and the doctors are given a hard time because they
both represent modern ideologies. Within the community, many people such as Lids parents believe
that the best way to help their ill

Digital Marketing Essay
You Will Always Cut It With Any Of These Digital Marketing Techniques
Digital marketing keeps growing more and more everyday. Right now, digital marketing is a big
umbrella of several marketing techniques. This is why it is now much more expensive to hire a digital
marketing service provider.
Every mobile app development company includes digital marketing tools in their app. A good example
is the single push button with which you can send posts to all the users of your app. The common
digital marketing techniques have been outlined right below.
1. Social media marketing
People are now generally obsessed with social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter... etc. So,
digital marketers take advantage by creating social media account to ... Show more content on

The suggestion will hold water as other participants will take it as a non biased opinion.
3. Email marketing
Digital advertisers send marketing emails to people that have subscribed for their newsletters.
However, before each mail is sent, there will be some profiling. The people who may need the product
are then filtered out. For instance, if the product is ladies shoes, it will be sent to only ladies. And guys
will be left out.
Email marketing has a lot of advantages. It is sent directly to only the intended recipients. It is also
about the most cost effective marketing techniques. Besides, you can be able to track who received the
mail and who didn t.
4. Google adwords
Google AdWords are keywords people are expected to type into Google search engine when looking
for certain products or services. As a company, you are supposed to link these keywords to relevant
landing pages on your website. This means that when you adopt keywords like Buy a cheap raincoat ,
you are supposed to link it to the exact landing page on your website that has all the raincoats you
offer and the price of each of them. It is wrong to link it to your home page as it will waste the
prospective buyer s time and also earn you low quality score.
For Google to display your site on its search engine result page (SERP), you have to submit it to
Google. However, Google has its own set of procedures for displaying results. On its own, Google has

Analysis Of The Book The Coming Of The Moon And James...
object, every individual has felt love and attraction towards something because it gave them a sense of
acceptance and purpose. As an individual achieves acceptance, they define a purpose. As a common
theme of life; Nino Ricci s story, Going to the Moon and James Joyce s story, Araby similarly
established the theme, allure of the other by demonstrating mutual aspects. For instance, the two
stories both illustrated young isolated male narrators who were plot driven by older influencing female
characters that accepted them. Together, they re relationships helped to explore and define the
concepts of allure, acceptance, reality and imagination, which aided to break the isolated nature of the
protagonists. Ricci and Joyce demonstrated that their particular protagonist ultimately shared the same
desire, dilemma, and discovery as the other character; the desire for acceptance and purpose , the
dilemma to achieve acceptance , and the discovery that acceptance is not always what it seems .
Initially, the narrators shared the same desire for affection because of a powerful attraction or Allure
towards a prominent female character. In Ricci s Story, the narrator displayed an allure for Miss
Johnson (his teacher), while in Joyce s story, the narrator developed an allure towards Mangan s sister
(a peer s sibling). Hence, the theme, the allure of the other , allowed individuals of the opposite sex to
serve as a catalyst for plot development and succession. Similarly, the two

The Rise Of The Hellenistic Age
The way the Greeks ran their city states was second to none. So it was only fitting that other society s
tried to mimic what the Greeks were doing, and so a man by the name of Alexander the great, who
was eager to start his own age created the Hellenistic age. Hellenistic means literally imitating the
Greeks; the era after the death of Alexander the Great when Greek culture spread into the Near East
and blended with the culture of that region. (Spielvogel, 94) Even though Alexander the great set the
foundation for the Hellenistic age it truly began to take form after his death.
So many of these cities played such a crucial role in the success of the Hellenistic Kingdoms. After
Alexander s death there were four major Hellenistic monarchies

Gilgamesh Hero s Journey Essay
From the beginning gilgamesh is known as being a bad person even a bride from a soon to be married.
He eventually meets enkidu, a wild man, raised by animals and ignores humans. But after interacting
with humans he ends up in a wrestling match with Gilgamesh. Eventually Enkidu and Gilgamesh
become friends and the hero s journey starts. The first step according to Campbell is the call to
adventure where the hero receives a call for adventure and leave their life. They both decide to visit
the evil forest and hunt down Humbaba, the protector of the gods tree supply. At this point Gilgamesh
is still very arrogant and has not yet started to change his ways.
Gilgamesh then reaches the next step and crosses a threshold. which is when he leaves ... Show more

The crossing of the return threshold is the final step in Gilgamesh s hero journey. Enkidu s death sent
Gilgamesh on an adventure to fight death but he ultimately ended up learning his biggest lesson from
Utnapishtim, the man who become immortal. He learns to appreciate life every day and that humans
are meant to die. Utnapishtim tells him how fortunate he is to be 2/3 divine and 1/3 human, to be
blessed, and to be king . He takes this information and starts to appreciate everything about his life
and his kingdom. He understands that death is a part of life. This experience changed him for the
better. From the beginning of the story of Gilgamesh to the end you can see a total transformation in
this character. The strong and greedy king showed fear and vulnerability. The death of his brother and
second half stirred up his restless heart and sent him on a journey to fight and overcome death. The
lesson he learned though was to appreciate his life every day until he dies. He learned that death was a
part of life. Gilgamesh has obvious flaws and goes through many struggles just as its readers do on a
daily basis. Gilgamesh s vulnerability makes him easy to relate to. Modern American readers want a
hero who s relatable and seems ordinary in their emotions and life. People change in life sometimes
for the better and sometimes for the worst. In the case of Gilgamesh he changed for the better and
become a better person. Readers

Biodiesel Synthesis Lab Report
Leah Romero 04/30/2018 Lab 13 Chem. 102L In lab 13, synthesis of biodiesel, the main purpose was
to test for the presence of contaminants like soap, and to determine the purity of the sample. This was
done by performing a transesterification of vegetable oil when a solid catalyst is present in order to
produce biodiesel. In the lab procedure the outcomes that were observed were biodiesel being
synthesized using a solid state catalyst, biodiesel being tested for quality, and being able to explain the
synthesis pathway for biodiesel. Biodiesel can be produced from a variety of renewable sources. The
chemical properties that lie behind this lab all tie in with the components of biodiesel. The biodiesel

Analysis Of George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion
Social standing is central to the plot of George Bernard Shaw s play Pygmalion . The portrayal of
class identity in Shaw s play appears to be a criticism of the distinctions between high society and the
poorer classes in Victorian England. Shaw s aim was to portray how the upper crust of Victorian
society viewed the lower classes, as evidenced by Higgins treatment of Eliza upon her first visit to his
laboratory; Higgins treats her as though she is too stupid to understand that he is insulting her. The
assumption is that the wealthy view the lower classes as being somehow lesser. So what is it that Shaw
is trying to impart upon the reader? Shaw appeared to show open disdain not just for the upper class of
society but for society in general, and Pygmalion may be interpreted as an open criticism of class
distinctions in Victorian England. Class distinctions are made abundantly clear in Shaw s Pygmalion.
Eliza is representative of Shaw s view of the English working class of the day: Crude, crass, and
seemingly unintelligent yet worthy of pity. Equal criticism is leveled at the upper classes, who pass
judgement upon the poor precipitated by their appearance and mannerisms. Higgins and Pickering s
attitude towards Eliza is one of derision, stemming from their difference in social status. For instance,
Higgins open mockery of Eliza s speech: You see this creature with her kerbstone English: the English
that will keep her in the gutter to the end of her days. (Shaw.

Animal Rights Essay
Animals and man have shared this planet since humans first appeared on earth. Animals have provided
transportation, food, clothing, shelter, companionship and entertainment throughout the ages.
Therefore, it is our duty to treat animals with respect, care and kindness and not cause them undue
suffering, because they have, in many ways, made it possible for man to survive on earth. However,
because normal adult humans have superior mental abilities in the hierarchical scale in nature, animals
have fewer rights than humans. Consequently, it is our responsibility to support and maintain the
animal kingdom (to the best of our ability); therefore helping to preserve them as fellow members or
our community of life on earth.
There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Animals should be viewed as experiencing subjects of life with inherent value of their own. We are
guilty of speciesism and have been inhumane and evil to creatures that are powerless. He contends
that any change requires a change in our heads and hearts.
It would seem that Regan wrote this essay because he feels there has been a blatant cruelty and
disregard for animals. He does not mention however, that all species use each other as resources that is
the way of nature. He seems to be denying or ignoring that natural phenomenon. Everything and
everyone is a resource in one way or another. Humans and animals are hosts for many insects,
parasites and microscopic organisms, which are part of nature s food chain.
As founder of the Animal Rights Liberation, utilitarian Peter Singer agrees with Regan s opinion that
we are guilty of speciesism. He defines speciesism as a prejudice or attitude of bias toward the
interests of members of one s own species. He informs the reader that he owes this term to Richard
Ryder.
In his essay All Animals are Equal , Singer laments the fact that the majority of humans take an active
part in, or allow their taxes to pay for the sacrificing species in order to promote their self interests. To
believe that only human life is sacrosanct is wrong, in his view, and another example of speciesism.
He believes we must allow beings, human or animal, which are similar in all relevant aspects, to

Herpes Simplex Virus Essay
Herpes simplex virus is two types HSV 1 and HSV 2. HSV 1 is responsible for orofacial infections,
and HSV 2 is responsible for genital infections. In my perspective, developing HSV 2 vaccine is more
important since it is one of the most sexual transmission disease(1), and it can lead to a chronic
infection which increases the risk of HIV infection. It also transmits to neonates during birth, and most
cases are asymptomatic. The lecture for this week mentions the most recent clinical trials for
therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines against HSV 2 and to get antibodies response. The platforms
were inactivated or subunit vaccines with adjuvants. Furthermore, the lecture states new Approaches
that improve HSV vaccines. In my opinion, the most effective vaccine and immunity should ... Show

This vaccine was able to reduce genital disease and shedding in animals(1). Besides, Three therapeutic
vaccines, one of them is a subunit vaccine, and two are DNA vaccine(1). Most of these vaccines
contain gD2(1). HSV depends on gD in spreading from cell to cell(2). Moreover, our paper discussing
showed that a trivalent vaccine was used with alum. The result was a great immunity, but it did not
induce CD8 T cells. Thus, I believe replication defective HSV is the most effective vaccine since it
mimics the natural infection. I think replication defective HSV with booster vaccines would induce a
strong immunity. I also would consider a subunit vaccine and would include an adjuvant which would
elicit CD8 T cells response. It is interesting to note that in the trivalent vaccine, the plasma antibodies
neutralized both HSV 1 and HSV 2, and the plasma antibodies neutralized both seronegative and
seropositive of HSV 2(3). Therefore, this kind of vaccine gave a production for both subtypes. CD8 T
cells response issue can overcome by epitope identification to identify which epitopes elicit CD8 T
cells

  • 2. Courtroom Interaction Essay Courtroom interaction consists of interpretive aspects opened to the audience and jury. However, courtroom accounts of events can be judged by common sense knowledge. In addition, cross examinations rely on assessing the truth and invalidating the other accounts. It is problematic for jurors due to common sense bases allowing desired influences to effect the verdict. When one is interrogated during courtroom interaction, the turns are either designed to imply blame or justify an action. For instance, a transcript of a 1979 case begins with a pre allocation in the form of a yes no question. However, once the witness failed to comply with the turns, the council repeated the question and enforced the yes no order. To illustrate, a member ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first pair is adjacency pairs , which anticipate the answers to be said by their second pair parts. Together, these two pair parts are complementary through conditional relevance (Goodwin Duranti, 622). If the second pair part response were to not be given, it is then interpreted to be not present. This can be simplified to expectations of explicit requests. If a request is made, the premade response is a yes . When the response is unfavorable, the turn is then modified to restate the preferred answer. In addition, when interrogating a witness, the courtroom uses agreement to format a basis of reasoning for the accusation. (624). For instance, the witness s response to the amount of petrol bombs thrown was only a couple . This response lessons the severity of the incident. Following the response of how many bombs were dropped, the witness continues to add on to the response; which contained too much information being said. Because too much information was given for a simple question, it displays how the witness felt potentially attacked through that questioning (624). Thus, courtroom questionings are favored to their own benefit, as well as the use of using agreement to form potential guilt. To conclude, courtroom interaction through context in courtroom talk can differ. Interpretation of the audience can be swayed by common sense knowledge, structure of turn by turn organization of talk, and general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hard Times And Pride And Prejudice Essay The novels Hard Times (1854) written by Charles Dickens (1812 1870) and Pride and Prejudice (1813) written by Jane Austen (1775 1817) are two very distinct literary works, written and published in two completely different eras. While Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice in the Georgian era, Dickens s novel Hard Times is a part of the Victorian age. These novels represent disparate worlds, that of rigid and utilitarian aspects on one hand and domestic concerns over marriage and property on the other. These novels represent women in a certain light, quite different from the each other, but the same. This paper thus aims to analyse the portrayal of female characters by Dickens and Austen in the aforementioned novels, in view of their gender identities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an opposition with which Dickens makes extended ironic play later in the story, when Sissy becomes the homemaker, the most settled and the most respectable member of the Gradgrind family. She is,at the beginning of the book, not only of questionable parentage but a virtual orphan. From this situation there develops an ironic opposition between the ties of blood and those of affectiom, for Sissy, deprived of a family by blood, is supported by the extended, unorthodox family of the circus people and she eventually becomes Gradgrind s honorary and truest daughter. Her love is undying and is not affected by his loveless teaching. Her devotion brings about family feeling in her new father and sister as when, in Louisa s grave trouble, the once deserted girl shone like a beautiful light upon the darkness of the other (Dickens, 248). Sissy becomes the motherly, sisterly and daughterly heart of the adoptive family and her very nickname signals her familial role throughout the story, as the archetypical sister. However, the reward for this depiction of virtue is confined within the family. Although Sissy grows from child to woman in years, she does not move, like most of Dickens s good women, beyond the roles of a surrogate mother, daughter and sister to sexual maturity. Initially, the book ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Rules In Hamlet Boundaries of Society Rules are what keeps society in tact. Without rules there would be a lot of chaos and everybody would be free to do whatever they like. People need some kind of restrictions in their lives. During the play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Hamlet seems to struggle through his mission to kill his uncle for killing his father. The reasons for that are obvious, you can t just kill anyone out in the obvious. There are rules that restrict you from doing that and if you are caught breaking those rules there will be a horrible punishment waiting for you. The restrictions Hamlet had would be a prime reason for why the book ended up how it did. Rules and Restrictions play a key role in society. Hamlet could have done a lot to just kill his uncle but of course that is against the rules and if he were to do that he would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King Claudius kills his own brother to take over the thrown. That is by far the worst thing he could have done. He wanted to be king so bad he killed his own brother for the spot of king. The reason he did that is most likely because he then doesn t have to live by any of the rules just like all the others. He is free to do whatever he wants to do as king of Denmark. Claudius doesn t have to live by any restraints and is free to do whatever he likes. He doesn t have to live with any of those restraints and the ironic thing about it is that he broke one the rules to get to where he is. This shows us that some people in a society aren t scared to go against the restraints they have. They will do just about anything to get to where they want to get to. This tells us that society can t live within the rules and will always want to do whatever they want. People don t do anything though, and that s because they are terrified of the punishment they will get, but if they don t get penalized for their actions then they will go on a streak and won t be scared to get caught at ... So which is better, there really isn t a true winner. Both states have amazing cities. For example, Fort Myers Florida and Porter Texas. Both these cities are good to live in. Fort Myers is positioned just three hours south from all the big Parks. It doesn t have all the traffic of living in a congested city like Orlando, but is close enough to be able to leave your house at five or six in the morning and arrive at Universal studios as it is opening. • 6. Essay on crusades Crusading, much like Imperialism in the 20th century, was all about expansion. During the middle ages however, it was more about the expansion of religion rather then power, or at least that s the way it was preached. Crusading by definition is; a holy war authorized by the pope, who proclaimed it in the name of god of Christ. It was believed to be Christ s own enterprise, legitimized by his personal mandate (1). This essay examines the background of the crusades to offer a better understanding as to why they occurred. It also examines the effects that the crusades had on the world. Knights would go in the hope of acquiring power and control over this new land. The chance at commercial success in new places was a huge determining factor for the western merchants of the day. Adventure, money, land, and religion were all big reasons for participating in the Crusades of the Middle Ages (4). The first Crusade began on November 27th 1095, as a response to the attack on the Byzantine Empire by the Muslims. Pope Urban II inspired many clergy and laypeople to join the crusading force. There was much excitement for the new adventure that awaited the people of Europe. They united at the Byzantine capital of Constantinople and launched a counter attack against the Seljuk conquerors of Anatolia. They then fought and overtook many city states belonging to the Byzantine Empire with final destination Jerusalem, in their sights (5). The Majority of people who joined the crusades were from France, with others coming from Lorraine, Burgundy, Flanders, and Italy. Many common people were interested in crusading as well as noble individuals. The reason for this was the chance of finding and claiming any land once they had overtaken parts of the Middle East (6). The crusaders enjoyed considerable success during their first couple of years. In only their first month of crusading they conquered Anatolia in the year 1097. • 7. Human Impact On No2 And Company Comparison Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison Lynn Dietrich Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars Abstract Human activity can change the world incredibly fast. We have to monitor those changes the best we can in order to understand any damage that is being done. We use satellites and specialized instruments to monitor the changes in our atmosphere. The levels of pollution that humans are responsible for has to be monitored so that any danger can be avoided. We have to study the components of the atmosphere to understand what is harmful and what is not. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is formed when hydrocarbon fuels are burned (Thompson). CO is mainly produced by industrial processes, some fires, and internal combustion engines (Blakemore and Jennett, 2016). Like NO2, the highest levels of carbon monoxide will be found in places with large cities and industries. Carbon monoxide has local and global effects. High amounts are dangerous to people s health locally. CO can be spread by winds throughout the troposphere, having a global effect (Ichoku). Carbon monoxide is being studied to see its role in atmospheric chemistry and the ability of the atmosphere to cleanse itself of harmful pollutants (Ichoku). Humans are the source of a huge amount of pollution. Human activity has caused nitrogen dioxide levels to rise. This rise has increased pollution levels and has hurt the atmosphere. Human activity has also caused carbon monoxide levels to rise, but unlike NO2, carbon monoxide can easily be spread around the world by wind. The spread of carbon monoxide has added to pollution and hurt the atmosphere. Human activity can have a very drastic effect on our world in a relatively short amount of time. With the help of satellites and monitoring instruments, we can see those effects and try to act on the data before any major damage is done. As humans continue to pollute the environment, scientists continue to monitor the constant changes in the atmosphere and other components to try and understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Unethical Decisions of Cutting Corners on Construction... Ethics The reason that most people go into construction is because it is a job skill that can be used world wide, and there are many different ways to make a decent living. Due to the current economic situation, the construction business has been sluggish. Contractors have been earning a smaller amount than they used to and this causes, most contractors and subs to cut corners and the customer or owner pays the ultimate price of lousy job. Most of these activities are unethical and dangerous. Ethics is described as the duty as a person to do the righteous actions and have respectable morals. Situational ethics can be when hard hats are required when working outside the building but not when inside due to the heat. Ethical behavior should not wave around but steady and firm. One of the major areas in which ethics have to be implemented and is tied into is safety. Even though safety is everyone s job, it is theoretically the job of the contractor to safety, which is ethical and moral part of the job. As a contractor, he is the one in charge to provide and enforce a safe working environment and also hiring a safety engineer to oversee this part of the project. If the contractor defrauds on safety for any reason, it is considered unethical. Due to this stringent rules and previous mistakes, this is a big priority that must be done. Unethical practices in construction are bid rigging, bid shopping, and front end loading. These are all forms of collusion that are unethical and schemes that are associated with the construction business. Bid rigging is the way that scheming competing contractors effectively increase the prices where owners are often federal, state, or local governments. They acquire services by put out competing bids; in which, competitors agree in before hand who will be submitting the accepted bid on a contract that is being handed into the competitive bids. This is a scheme that a lot of big name contractors would use to help each other out, but the owner is the one paying and loosing out. Bid shopping when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Wizard of OZ these aspects of Mise en Scene all come together to make up a spectacular viewing experience. Created in 1939 and directed by Victor Fleming, The Wizard of Oz was one of the first successful Technicolor films. Since this film was shot primarily in color, it gave the directors and costume designers many new opportunities to use color in ways that they hadn t been able to before. The main point I will be demonstrating is how the filmmakers effectively used color and costuming to convey certain feelings and messages throughout the film. The opening scene of Oz was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was an extremely intricate process to handle and required enormous amounts of light to properly expose. While it was the most expensive process available to Hollywood at the time, it yielded an unequaled color quality. The studio chose the three strip process because it worked out well with black and white stock. The framing of Dorothy s fantasy was processed in black and white, heightening the effect of the Technicolor journey to Oz. The fact that the three strip process originated in a black and white stock made this easier. For these reasons production occurred entirely indoors on the sound stages of MGM. Because of the large set, as many as nine cameras hidden in bushes or potted plants would be used to film one scene. The hidden cameras took close ups, while the main camera, used to capture the whole scene, was on the end of a boom and was constantly moving. The extensive lighting equipment necessary for Technicolor photography in 1939 is very apparent in these behind the scenes shots. Banks of lights lined the floor of the stages and the catwalks above the actors and made the set uncomfortably hot, especially for the actors wearing heavy costumes. Because the film was studio bound, a lot of responsibility fell on the special effects department. Mattes were used extensively to give depth to the Kansas landscape, and a sense of distance to the Land of Oz. Intricate trick photography was employed to allow a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kyle was described to be a confident, but not arrogant young man. He had a solid 3.5 grade point average and was extremely active in his fraternity. His parents said he was, ...a thrill a minute, focused, happy, achieving and social (James). Kyle, in short, seemed to have it all together. What no one knew is that Kyle illegally looked to Adderall to keep up his I ve got it all together act. Adderall is a stimulant prescription drug for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD (FDA). Kyle took Adderall illegally and abused it much too often just to perform better academically and socially. • 13. Essay on Ellen Foster Ellen Foster Ellen Foster is the compelling story of a young girl who is thrust into reality at a very early age. Written by Kaye Gibbons, the novel is a documentary of the saga of growing up. It is a recurring theme, growing up, depicted through many events over the course of this girl^s childhood. This growing up theme is evident through the experiences she has, as well as the many hardships she faces. Ellen^s awkward situation of two dead parents forces her to lose her innocence at a young age, and mature much faster than any other person her age. This is shown through her in depth observations about the world and people around her, such as ^He was a big wind up doll of a man.^ This metaphor depicts her father, a lazy ... Her friendship with a black girl named Starletta is a subject of much controversy. Not controversy with other people, but controversy within Ellen^s own mind. Her feelings towards her best friends are contorted by society^s acceptance of other races. This is a common thing among younger people. Not necessarily among races, but more along the lines of good kids versus bad kids. Society^s perception of who^s good and who^s bad really affects a child^s perception of who they should or shouldn^t be seen with. Ellen at the beginning of the book is somewhat ashamed of Starletta, because she eats dirt, and also feels sorry for her because she only has a one room house, and doesn^t even have an ^inside the house^ toilet. As the story progresses, Ellen^s opinions twist and turn until she reaches the conclusion ^If they could fight a war over how I^m supposed to think about her then I^m obligated to do it.^ This is evidence for her evolution as a person, or growing up. The Amistad, paradoxically a ship that means companionship, was the location of one of the utmost historic slave upheavals ran by black Africans in 1839. This rebellion gained substantial attention from the American population, the media, as well as other intercontinental interests. It was the black insurgence on board the Amistad that ignited the fundamental concerns of legislations, slavery, sectionalism, faith, trade rights, and anti British sentiment that had previously beleaguered the country at the time of the Amistad event. The north and south became progressively separated over slavery and states rights to create regulations that affect their citizens. Amistad emphasizes the firmly entrenched divisions between the North and South, especially when it comes to the institution of slavery during the trial between the two sides. When the judge grants freedom to the slaves the opposing side was very upset and was not afraid to show their feelings. Also, there was a coincidence in the movie when the slave s lawyer had been struck on the head by someone who disagreed with his actions. This shows the tension between the north and the south because so many people invested their time and heart into this that trial for the slaves to be able to go back to their homeland. Eric Foner, a professor at History at Columbia University states that, Amistad presents a highly misleading account of the case s historical significance, in the process sugarcoating the relationship between the American judiciary and slavery. The film gives the distinct impression that the Supreme Court was convinced by Adams plea to repudiate slavery in favor of the natural rights of man, thus taking a major step on the road to abolition. Choosing the runway is an analytical decision, as information needs to be analyzed correctly. An airport s ATIS will list the active runways in use for departures. If multiple runways are being used for departure, pilots will need to anticipate the runway they will use. Pilot will use their location relative to the runways, direction of departure, and previous experience to decide on a runway. Pilot s previous experience can be heuristic as certain airport conditions lead to specific runway operations. It is sometimes referred to as tribal knowledge when anticipating the correct runway. Sometimes airports will use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There can also be a runway change after the initial assignment, which leads to the task starting all over. Time is the biggest stressor in this decision. A pilot always wants to anticipate the correct runway so that it will reduce their workload during taxing. If they picked the wrong runway they then have a lot of work starting the request task over in a short period of time. The second decision looked at will be deciding if the received data is correct and valid to accept and use. This decision can be either intuitive analytical. Analytical is the correct way to make the decision however. The decision is analytical because pilots are supposed to verify all the information that was used to compute the takeoff data such as wind, altimeter, flap setting, and runway. That takes additional time but is the correct method. Most pilots make the decision using intuitive decisions making. Pilots receive preliminary takeoff data during their preflight. If the v speeds on the final takeoff data received is within a knot or two of the preliminary takeoff data v speeds pilots will use that as their check. They can accomplish that much quicker and use it as a shortcut. If any of the information isn t correct for the situation it is important pilots catch it or it can lead to invalid data being used. Polymers are made up of smaller repeating units called monomers, the monomers of proteins are called amino acids. Molecular Structure of an Amino Acid The structure of an amino acid consists of an amino group (NH2) and a carboxyl acid group (COOH) bonded to a central carbon atom (C) with a hydrogen atom (H) and a side chain (R) which is variable. There are twenty different types of amino acids of which eight are essential to the human body. All amino acids include the the above basic structure, it is only the variable side chain (R) that differs in each of the amino acids. It is this different arrangement of atoms on the side chain that makes each amino acid unique. The smallest amino acid found in proteins is glycine, in which the side chain consists of just a single hydrogen atom (The Biology Project, 2003). To make proteins, amino acids must be bonded together into chains. The bond is called a peptide bond and is formed by condensation reaction. Condensation Reaction Between Two Amino Acids to Form a Dipeptide A peptide bond is formed between the carboxyl acid group (COOH) of one amino acid and the amino group (NH2) of another amino acid by condensation reaction. During the condensation reaction, the oxygen and hydrogen atoms (OH) from the carboxyl group of the first amino acid and the hydrogen atom (H) from the amino group of the second amino acid are lost. • 18. EuripidesMedea, Hippolytus, And Electra The Minds of Euripides s Creations Upon a first inspection of Euripides s Medea, Hippolytus, and Electra, women were depicted as a vicious brood for the only purpose of bringing men to their ruin. However, this was not the case at all. Euripides portrayed women as downtrodden individuals because of the scorned love they had experienced. Love was the main factor in all of these plays. In addition, Euripides presented how women were influenced by their emotions. Euripides s Medea characterized a woman, Medea, who was driven by her anger at Jason s betrayal to perform atrocious acts. She was grief stricken because Jason treated her like a harlot and broke her heart. She was stricken by the sinful desire of revenge that she was even willing to murder her own children to make Jason pay for his actions for marrying another woman (Medea 1 4). She felt betrayed by Jason because she sacrificed everything familiar to her to journey across the vast seas to be with him (Medea 13 14). Medea had a right to want revenge because she knew that Jason was cheating on her with another woman. Jason attempted to justify his new marriage by pointing out that the only reason he was marrying this other woman was to support his children and her in the best possible way (Medea 15 17). Some think that it has remained consistent since the passing of the Constitution. But some people in today s society think that the government authority that is supposed to be shared between the national and local governments is starting to be overpowered by federal law and local and state governments are not getting the rights promised to them years ago when the Constitution was passed. The reality in today s society is that apart from military affairs and international diplomacy, most national laws, policies, and programs are shaped, administered, or funded in whole or in part through a complex, and often contentious system of federal state relations. You may seek out numerous cosmetic procedures or excessively exercise to try to fix your perceived flaw, but you re never satisfied. Body dysmorphic disorder is also known as dysmorphophobia, the fear of having a deformity. • 50. Analysis Of George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion Social standing is central to the plot of George Bernard Shaw s play Pygmalion . The portrayal of class identity in Shaw s play appears to be a criticism of the distinctions between high society and the poorer classes in Victorian England. Shaw s aim was to portray how the upper crust of Victorian society viewed the lower classes, as evidenced by Higgins treatment of Eliza upon her first visit to his laboratory; Higgins treats her as though she is too stupid to understand that he is insulting her. The assumption is that the wealthy view the lower classes as being somehow lesser. So what is it that Shaw is trying to impart upon the reader? Shaw appeared to show open disdain not just for the upper class of society but for society in general, and Pygmalion may be interpreted as an open criticism of class distinctions in Victorian England. Class distinctions are made abundantly clear in Shaw s Pygmalion. Eliza is representative of Shaw s view of the English working class of the day: Crude, crass, and seemingly unintelligent yet worthy of pity. Equal criticism is leveled at the upper classes, who pass judgement upon the poor precipitated by their appearance and mannerisms. Higgins and Pickering s attitude towards Eliza is one of derision, stemming from their difference in social status. He does not mention however, that all species use each other as resources that is the way of nature. He seems to be denying or ignoring that natural phenomenon.
