● The first generation of computers covers from 1940
to 1952, although these dates are really commercial
machines since the first computer considered is the
Zuse Z1 of 1938. This generation includes the first
electro-mechanical machines whose main
component was the relay, which were quickly
replaced by the vacuum tubes.

● The second generation of computers from 1958 to
1963 replaced vacuum valves with transistors.
Therefore, the second generation computers are
smaller and consume less electricity than the
previous ones. The communication with these new
computers is through more advanced languages than
the machine language, which are called "high level
languages".

● The invention of the integrated circuit or chip was
produced by Jack S. Kilby and Robert Noyce. Then
he took Ted Hoff to the invention of the
microprocessor, at Intel.

● The so-called Fourth Generation is the product of
