Writing A Scholarship Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing A Scholarship Essay Examples" may seem
deceptively simple at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of the topic unveils a labyrinth
of challenges. The task requires a delicate balance between showcasing one's achievements,
demonstrating financial need, and weaving a compelling narrative that captivates the reader.
To begin with, selecting the right examples to highlight in the essay demands a keen
understanding of the scholarship's criteria. It involves introspection to identify key experiences,
accomplishments, and challenges that align with the scholarship's objectives. This introspective
process itself can be a challenging endeavor, requiring self-awareness and a critical evaluation of
one's own journey.
Once the content is identified, the challenge shifts to presenting it in a coherent and engaging
manner. A scholarship essay should not read like a mere list of achievements; it should tell a
story that resonates with the reader. Crafting a narrative that seamlessly integrates personal
experiences, aspirations, and the specific criteria of the scholarship necessitates both creativity
and precision.
Furthermore, the essay must adhere to strict guidelines and word limits, adding an additional
layer of difficulty. Every word becomes crucial, and conveying the desired message concisely
without compromising on depth is an art in itself.
Moreover, addressing the financial need component, if required, introduces a delicate balance.
The writer must discuss financial challenges without sounding desperate or relying solely on a
plea for assistance. Striking this balance requires finesse and a nuanced understanding of how to
navigate such sensitive topics.
Editing and revising become integral parts of the process, demanding a critical eye to polish the
essay to perfection. The challenge lies not only in refining the language and structure but also in
ensuring that the final product effectively communicates the intended message.
In the end, despite the initial appearance of simplicity, writing a scholarship essay on the topic of
examples is a multifaceted task that tests one's self-awareness, storytelling skills, adherence to
guidelines, and ability to convey a compelling narrative within constraints. It's a challenging
process that demands dedication, introspection, and refined writing skills.

customers perspective ecommerce offers a lot of advantages such as better
customer decisions and less time is spent in resolving invoice and order problems.
The strategic benefits of making your business ecommerce active is that it helps
reduce labour costs, reduce delivery time and reduce the cost encountered by such
things as overtime, telephone calls, mail preparation and data entry. The operational

Six Perspectives In Psychology
In psychology there are six perspectives: psychoanalytic, humanistic, behaviorism,
cognitive, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, and cultural. Each of these six
perspective contribute to love and I will be explain how as well as giving a few
examples for each. The first perspective I will be explaining is the theory that
Sigmund Freud founded, psychoanalytic. Psychoanalytic is an approach in psychology
that links psychological processes to activities in the nervous system and other
bodily processes. (Schacter, 2015, p. 8). The amygdala is the part of our nervous
system that is connected with emotions; for example the feeling of loveis coming
from the amygdala. An example that happened to me of psychoanalytic is, One day I
was hanging out with my friend John after getting out of a long term relationship
with my ex boyfriend Joe. John took me out to the movies that Joe would always
take me out too! after the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
9) Humanistic psychology is study a person as a whole not just that person view on
themselves but, the person observing view on them as well. Every human wants to
feel like they re loved. For example if you see your boyfriend tells you he s not
feeling any love from you they might view you as maybe selfies because they think
the always make sure you feel love. Behaviorism psychology is, The idea that
psychology should restrict itself to studying objectively observable behavior. (
Schacter, 2015, p 10.) All behavior is learned from a persons environment. For
example a mother who has a child at a young age is more likely to have the same
happen to there child then someone who a child in there late 20 s early 30 s. If a
single parent brings a lot of different boyfriend/girlfriend s around there kids then
when the kid is older they will probably date a lot of people because they learned this

The Gastrointestinal Tract, The Immune System And

Introduction
Nowadays there are a large number of investigations related to the microbiota and
health not only of the gastrointestinal tract, the immune system but also the nervous
system and mental health. Likewise, changes in the microbiota are implicated in the
increasing tendency for a broad range of inflammatory diseases such as allergic
disease, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity and the presence of non communicable
diseases (NCDs) for instance, cardiovascular diseases (like heart attacks and stroke),
cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructed pulmonary disease
and asthma) and diabetes. Studies have suggested strategies that would regulate the
intestinal microbiota for reducing the risk of such diseases, ... Show more content on

The gut microbiota is involved in the regulation of multiple host metabolic pathways,
giving rise to interactive host microbiota metabolic, signaling, and immune
inflammatory axes that physiologically connect the gut, liver, muscle, and brain. A
deeper understanding of these axes is a prerequisite for optimizing therapeutic
strategies to manipulate the gut microbiota to combat disease and improve health (4).
Discussion
Interactions between the gut microbiota and the host immune system begin at birth.
Some epidemiological studies suggest that C section babies may have an elevated
risk for developing immune and metabolic disorders, including Type 1 diabetes,
allergies, asthma and obesity. Scientists have theorized that these children may be
missing key bacteria known to play a large role in shaping the immune system from
the moment of birth onward. Babies delivered by cesarean section (C section)
acquire a microbiota that differs from that of vaginally delivered infants, and C
section delivery has been associated with increased risk for immune and metabolic
disorders. Dominguez Bello et al conducted a pilot study in which infants delivered
by C section were exposed to maternal vaginal fluids at birth. A mother s vaginal
fluids loaded with one such essential bacterium,
The Representation Of African Americans In The Film,
Good...
Good Hair is a film that focuses on the issue of how African American women see
their hair and style it. The film explores various messages that African Americans
have received about how they should wear their hair and goes into how much money
spent for them to get their hair done. Good Hair shows how African Americanhair is
represented on the media and how natural hair is accepted and rejected in society.
Throughout the film there are many themes about the ways African Americans
style their hair. One theme that appears in the movie is why African American
women adopt so many different hair styles. There are various reason to why
African American women change their hair such as to appear whiter. Another
reason is because when they change their hair style from their natural state they
look more professional. From a young age women get the message that they have
to change their hair in order to fit into society. In the movie Chris Rock shows
young girls who are taken to the salon to have their hair changed. It was shown in
the movie how natural hair is not always accepted in society. This can be
represented by the scene when the high school girls tell the one girl she did not look
together and she would not get a job with her natural hair. This shows how natural
hair is not seen as professional and how it is not... Show more content on

There are various techniques that are used to straighten hair. African Americans
straighten their hair by using a curling iron or a relaxer. I thought it was interesting
how Chris Rock included the soda can experiment using a relaxer to show the
health risks from a relaxer. I did not realize that a relaxer can burn your hair really
bad until seeing the soda can experiment. I have never gotten a relaxer and I will

Satire in Don Quijote Essays
Don Quijote was a tall, skinny wanna be who found himself morally obligated to
involve himself in other people s business for the sole purpose of acting as a proper
knight errant would. Although he believes that his battles help solve situations
(though the results is usually the opposite), what it comes down to is that he wants
to be famous, to be in love with his woman, to be accomplished, recognized, and
adored. Therefore, Don Quijote s motives are self serving, and not by the book as a
knight errant should be. As much for the sakeof his own greater honor as for his duty
to the nation, he decided to turn himself into a knight errant... (p. 15) The thing was,
this was how knights generally were a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What proper knight errant would beat up someone, claim the victory, and then of
course, claim its spoils? I guess that s just it knights did that. But how do we know
our hero wasn t just pretending to be crazy to get away with this?
In chapter sixteen, Don Quijote and his sidekick, Sancho, arrive at an inn, all beat
up from their battles, and from falling down a lot. The hero thinks the inn is a
castle, and deems that they are owed a warm and comfortable place to sleep
because he is the Great Don Quijote de La Mancha, braving battles against all evil
for the purpose of saving the kingdom. Sancho and a girl who works at the inn,
Maritones, have a knight errant conversation, in which he realizes he needs to
explain the point behind what he and Don Quijote do. A knight errant can see
himself, as fast as one, two, three, either beaten with clubs or turned into an
emperor. Today, he can be the most wretched creature in the world, and the
neediest, and tomorrow he can have two or three kingships to give his squire. (p.
87) The poor man really thinks that Don Quijote will someday be rich and famous
and hook him up. Even if this became the case, as he is really secretly out for
himself, for his own recognition, who s to say that Sancho would get anything out of
this, except for orders to relay his newfound fame to Dulcinea?
In chapter twenty two, Don Quijote, wanted so much to be idolized and

From the very beginning, the authors talk about how lots of research in golf focuses
on improving accuracy in golf putting, which is exactly what this paper is about. The
authors also discuss more in depth the mechanisms behind accuracy in golf putting
and how quiet eye training may be able to affect the cognitive processing behind
visuomotor skills.
The experimental methods are described well. The authors choose to break down
the measures individually and give a clear paragraph with a sub heading to each
measure. The specific training protocol also has its own subheading and is easy to
locate within the paper. Specific quiet eye training instructions are separated from the
text and are numbered clearly for the reader to see.
Furthermore, the study design and methods are very much appropriate for the
purposes of the study. The study s set up and methods allows the authors to address
the aims set in the introduction, and they do so in the discussion and conclusion. In
addition, the procedures are thoroughly detailed and allow for reproduction from

Mortgage Case Study
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Toronto, ON) Mortgage rates vary greatly based on multiple factors. The selected
lender, whether the rate is variable or fixed and the term length of the loan are
important in this process, thus potential homebuyers need to gather information on
current interest rates before selecting a mortgage product. For example, on March
18, 2017, a five year fixed rate could be 2.39 percent, while a 3 year variable rate
could be 2.25 percent with prime 0.45. Individuals looking to obtain a home should
head to Which Mortgage (http://www.whichmortgage.ca) with information about the
amount they wish to borrow, interest rates for different loanproducts and the loan
period to determine which option best fits into their budget.
Canada s mortgage industry requires a person obtain a five year mortgage, which is
then amortized over a 25 year period. At the end of the five year period, the individual
must then refinance the the loan, and the borrower must pay the interest rate at that
time. Obtaining a better interest rate at the beginning of ... Show more content on

Trade Openness and Economic Growth in Nigeria
CHAPTER ONE INTROUDCTION 1.1BACKGROUND OF STUDY The current
period in the world economy is regarded as period of globalization and trade
liberalization. In this period, one the crucial issues in development and international
economics is to know whether trade openness indeed promotes growth. With
globalization, two major trends are noticeable: first is the emergence of multinational
firms with strong presence in different, strategically located markets; and secondly,
convergence of consumer tastes for the most competitive products, irrespective of
where they are made. In this context of the world as a global village , regional

This is approximately US 8.2 per month or US 27 cents per day. Doug Addison
(unpublished) further explained that the Nigeria economy is not merely volatile;
it is one of the most volatile economies in the world (see figure 1 below). There is
evidence that this volatility is adversely affecting the real growth rate of Nigeria s
gross domestic product (GDP) by inhibiting investment and reducing the
productivity of investment, both public and private. Economic theory and
empirical evidence suggest that sustained high future growth and poverty
reduction are unlikely without a significant reduction in volatility. Oil price
fluctuations drive only part of Nigeria s volatility policy choices have also
contributed to the problem. Yet policy choices are available that can help
accelerate growth and thus help reduce the percentage of people living in poverty,
despite the severity of Nigeria s problems. Figure 1: growth rate of real GDP

Taking a Look at Cassava
Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of
carbohydrate for more than 800 million people worldwide and its cultivation is
estimated to cover more than 18.9 million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source
of food and income to resource poor farmers (especially women) in the tropics and
staple foodcrop for nearly 200 million people in the sub Saharan Africa (Liu et al.,
2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013). In Tanzania, cassavaranks only second to maize and
third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009).
Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases
especially cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases. Research efforts to
genetically improve resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest
deterioration and nutrients fortification of this crop are underway (Zang et al.,
2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All these efforts are
through genetic transformation method which relies on the ability of cassava to
regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of
cassava, it is difficult to use its zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic
transformation protocols (Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al.,
2001; Siritunga and Sayre 2003). Instead, organised structures from somatic embryo
cotyledons and friable embryogenic calli (FECs) have been developed (Schöpke et
al., 1996; Taylor et al., 2004). FECs
The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On
America
Campaign Finance
Introduction:
In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five
core American values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy
(Wright and Rogers). America s numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to
come into conflict each other. Such conflict characterizes the debate over the
implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The Supreme Court s
ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how
money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal
Election Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on
political donations by Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even
individuals. Originally these restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that
could undermine the democracy inherent in US values and elections. The Supreme
Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that independent
expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They
further asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed
synonymous with people in terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling
emphasized equality and freedom, but at what cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator
Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately corporate interests
diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now

Hamlet Oedipus Rex
In Shakespeare s Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus Rex, there is a seemingly close
common relationship shown between the two plays regarding mainly the community
and era in which they took place in. As well as different scenes throughout both
stories which show very similar ideas from the writers such as, murder being the
common theme in both plays. One example comes from the story, Oedipus the King,
and it is that there is a direct relationship between the state of the state and the state
of their kings. There is also a close bond between the two plays where Oedipus
armed entrance into the bedroom in which Jocasta, his wife, has committed suicide
and was found hung there, and how the two plays relate is where in Hamlet, there
was a confrontation of Gertrude in her bedroom to. Both of these well known
classic plays share an emphasis in a somewhat sad irony throughout a chain of
events that had led up to the ritual of catharsis. However, though both plays have
similar plots in some aspects, the idea in Hamlet creates a much more difficult, as
well as complicated character than that of the classic Greek tragedy play of Oedipus
the King. The two plays have many series of unfortunate events that presents itself to
the reader throughout the play for each of the protagonists. Both Sophocles Oedipus
Rex and Shakespeare s Hamlet deals with the acts of murder and betrayal in different
ways in order to
Self-Schemat Lizabeth And Novak
The concept from the article from the reading this week that I have chosen to focus
on is the concept of Self Schemata (Lizabeth and Novak, 214 2014). This concept
was very hard to grasp while reading and discussing what the authors were talking
about. Self Schemata from what I can conceive is what one person thinks on
themselves. It is past memories and experiences that one has that helps shape how
they view themselves as a whole (Lizabeth and Novak, 2014). The authors did their
best at explaining this conceptby using a bunch of different instructions at the
beginning of this section. While reading the instructions there are no indications of
what the instructions are for or why you are doing them due to how vague they are.
For example one task states, The process is as easy as it is enjoyable.... Show more

Reading these there is no telling what they are asking for. It is not until you are
finished with the list of instructions that they explain that they are a list on tasks on
how to build a proper snowman (Lizabeth and Novak, 2014). Once you know that
the list on instructions are for that one task it all starts to make since. It is similar to
a person and how they view themselves. If you know that something makes you
angry you most likely try and avoid that certain situation. Due to the fact that you
have a schema of that certain thing and how it makes you feel. With Schema you
know through past experiences and beliefs what your strengths and weaknesses are.
You can tell what is going to make you comfortable and uncomfortable. This concept
relates to the course because it is how one s self sees themselves in the world. It is

Examples Of Philautia In Macbeth
Love does not always apply between people. There are many forms of love that
have nothing to do with marriage, sex, or passion. One of them is Philautia, or
love of self, which is completely different with selfish lover who is possess with
owning their lover. Philautia is associated with narcissism, which one could form
self obsessed and focused on power and frame ( The Ancient Greeks 6 Words for Love
And Why Knowing Them Can Change Your Life ). One perfect example is again
the Shakespearean play The Tragedy of Macbeth which truly projects this type of
extreme. Macbeth shows how Philautia lead to his downfall path and ultimately end
up with tragedy. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is described as a chivalrous
general, who is admirable
Self Love And Self Esteem
It is very important for one to love himself. When you don t love yourself, it is hard
to expect others to love you. Agreed, we may have many faults and shortcomings.
But you must embrace yourself with all your faults and learn to love yourself. Self
love and self esteem are related to each other. If you suffer from low esteem, you
can t have enough self love. With low confidence, you will find it hard to love
yourself at first, because you don t think high of yourself. But as you start loving
yourself, your self esteem will be boosted and you ll have higher confidence. If
you want to love yourself, you need to make a conscious decision. It is a decision
that you have to make for a fulfilled and happy life. With low self esteem, you can
never reach your full potential. It is therefore a crucial task to love yourself. Here
are some tips that will help you complete this task: Understand yourself: If you
want your personality to grow, you need to understand yourself, and know what
makes you bloom. You may have many flaws, but you need to accept them and
move on. You should understand that nobody is perfect. Yes, even the most perfect
person you have met or idolised also has flaws. You are not the only one. Go ahead
and stand in front of a mirror. Admire your reflection and fall in love with yourself.
You might not be as important for others, but in your life story, you are the hero,
and your life revolves around you. Don t criticise yourself: Do you belittle yourself
over small things? Whenever you make any small mistake, do you get a voice
inside your head telling you that you are stupid and good for nothing? If that
happens a lot with you, you need to stop criticising yourself. It is important to look
at your positive points instead of focusing on the negative ones. Be positive and
kind: When you start thinking positive, you become kinder towards yourself and
your self love increases. With this, increases your self esteem and confidence.
Kindness towards others also helps. You need to love other people. If you feel
general hatred towards others, you ll turn out to be a bitter person, and this will
decrease your love towards yourself. Love others and try to help them. This will
make you feel better about

Discrete Wavelet Transform for Compressing and Decompressing the Speech Signal
Bhavana Pujari1, Prof. S.S.Gundal2 Abstract: The original digital speech signal
contains tremendous measure of memory, the main concept for the speech
compression algorithm is presented here, in which bit rate of the speech signal is
reduced with maintaining signal quality for storage, memory saving or transmission
over the long distance. The concentration of this project is to compact the digital
speech signal using Discrete Wavelet Transform and reconstruct same signal using
inverse transform, in .NET. The algorithm of Compression is oriented in three basic
operation, they are apply the DWT, Threshold, Encode the signal for transmission
Analysis of compression procedure is done by comparing the original speech and
reconstructed signal. The main advantages of DWT provides variable compression
factor. Keywords: Bit rate, Compression, Decompression, Discrete Wavelet Transform
(DWT), .NET, Threshold. Introduction The Speech is finest effective medium for
viewpoint to face communication and telephony application. Speech coding is the
process of obtaining a compact representation of audio signals for efficient
transmission over band limited wired and wireless channels and/or storage. The
procedure of Compression is done by transferring an original signal to alternate
compressed signal that consist of small amount of memory. Compression is

Should Vouchers Be Allowed In Schools Essay
Nowadays there is a lot of debate going on regarding the use of school vouchers and
many people think that Vouchers for private schools being denied. Through this
program student is able to select school either public or private to study. Through
voucher program, taxpayers have opportunity to pick where their tax money go. In
principle, great schools will flourish with cash and awful schools will lose
understudies and close its doors. The vast majority feels that taking citizen taxpayer
money from government funded schools and utilizing this cash as vouchers for
private schools is an infringement of the constitution (Barrow Rouse, 48 54). In
America most private schools at this moment is run through religious associations.

Essay on Bio Warfare
Biological warfare is war waged with deadly chemicals, biological agents, or
radioactive materials (CBR). They can be used to kill large amounts of people,
destroy food, or just temporarily stun them for a matter of time so troops can come
in and torture them or do whatever troops led by an manipulative tyrant who destroys
everything. Using CBR, allowed you to kill everything and leave the buildings
standing instead of nuclear weapons which destroy everything, put fallout in the air,
and have radioactivematerials wash into the ground and streams. Using deadly
chemicalsin war has been going on since the early 1900 s during World War I (1914

The Hague Conference of 1899 made an attempt to outlaw projectiles carrying
poison gases; the agreement to this effect lasted only until W.W.I. In Geneva in
1925 a League of Nations protocol against chemical and biological war was signed;
it was not, however, ratified by the United States until 1975. The treaty outlaws the
first use of such weapons in warfare, but nations generally reserve the right to use
them in retaliation. Agreements totally banning chemical warfare have proved
difficult to achieve. A treaty totally banning biological warfare was drawn up by
the Geneva Disarmament Conference in 1971 and approved by the United Nations
General Assembly. Some 80 nations signed the Biological Weapons Convention,
which the United States ratified in 1974. This treaty is unique because it outlaws a
whole class of weapons by most of the world. Its effectiveness, however, is still
questionable; progress in genetic engineering has also complicated this issue. At the
Bush Gorbachev summit in June 1990, a treaty was signed providing for both the
United States and USSR to reduce stockpiles of chemical weapons. In May 1991, 19
industrial nations including the United States commited to adopt controls on the
export of 50 common chemicals used to manufacture these weapons. Anthrax is a

The Importance Of Error Analysis And Failure Mode

Introduction
In every work environment, there are various continuous quality initiatives in
place to improve organization s product or service quality. For instance, in the
United States, many patients have been losing lives due to serious and avoidable
medical errors or safety events (Muething et al., 2012). For this reason, it is crucial
to understand how these avertable medical errors or safety events can be prevented
or eliminated. There are factors involved in the process of analyzing particular errors
in an organization. This paper focuses on two processes of error analysis (Root
Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)) to address
unnecessary medical errors (Serious Safety Events (SSE)). SSE in a healthcare ...

These encounters make it cumbersome to classify alleviate primary causes of harm.
Therefore, it affects the ability of the society to identify and prove the efficacy of
patient safety risk management solutions that decrease medical errors and
preventable serious safety events.
Measures push for improvement, inform patients and effect payment. Both public and
private payers apply measures to make a decision on the health providers they should
contract and to enhance improvements in healthcare. Hence, describing, categorizing
and emphasizing on harm prevention is critical for any practical risk management
program.
To prevent or eliminate numerous deaths related medical errors. American Society for
Healthcare Risk Management has come up with Getting to Zero. Getting to Zero is a
Serious Safety Events initiative, which emphasizes on event investigation stages. The
core part of the investigation process is to establish harm score. This always prompts
an organizational response and risk management. Therefore, without proper and
accurate harm score examination, the chances for applying operational response may
be wanting.
American Society for Healthcare Risk Management developed Harm Classification

Passionate About Women s Reproductive Rights
Something I feel very passionate about women s reproductive rights. As a
Christian I believe that it s not right to take any life for granted, but I think it s
even more important is not imposing my ideals on someone else. I think every
women should have control over her body. Only females to impose my ideals on
other people. Females are gifted with the blessing of a child baring woum.
Sometimes situations are unfortunate and terrible. I never will be in the shoes of the
women next, nor will she be in mine. Why should I be the one to make the decision
that will transform her life. I understand that an unborn child has a heart and is just
as much of a person as I am, but I know that things happen for a reason. For example,

Something terrible must have happened to the person before an abortion is even
an acceptable thought. Then others say that even in cases of rape the woman must
keep the child. It s true that the child is not at fault for the tragedy, but should
someone who has never felt the pain and the helplessness of rape be allowed to
make that choice for those forced to experience it? Even if the woman only wants
an abortion due to the fact that she is not prepared then who am I to decide how
she will be forced to spend her time, money, energy, and the next 18 years of her
life on? Also, if abortions were banned completely then women would just receive
an unregulated, unsafe, and illegal abortion. Those who think the that drugs are the
most important things in life will find a way to get them, those who believe they
need a gun because their life is threatened will find a gun, and those who think an
abortion is the only thing that will let them go on with their life will find someone
who is willing to perform the surgery. My second question was chosen because I feel
that a group of people is making the decisions for the entire, and is enforcing their
way of life on millions who have completely different mindsets. But if the country

Diversity Essay
Abraham Lincoln once said, The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the
family relation should be one uniting working people of all nations and tongues and
kindreds. For an organization to work well it has to have a diversity of people, good
communication with all the employees, and to be organized in a way that is effective
and efficient to function properly.
I currently work at the Turlock Junior High School (TJHS). It is an organization that
is composed of the administrative staff, teachers, classified staff and students. To be
able to function, each branch has diverse group of people working together to make
TJHS a better place for children to learn. TJHS has employees with different cultural

The staff helps the students get familiar with the school s process, schedule and what
is expected from each student.
Since each branch has different job tasks, communication is very essential among all
the branches. For example, if the administration staff does not inform the teachers
about a mandatory meeting, the teachers would not know about it and will not attend
the meeting. Therefore, the teachers will be reprimanded for not attending without
being at fault. And as well if the teacher does not inform the administrator staff about
a field trip, the administrator staff will panic when the students are not present in the
school.
The school must organize in a way that it can function properly. According to
Schermerhorn, J. Hunt, J. and Osborn, R. an organization must consider short term
and long term performance and it also requires a commitment to continuous and
lifelong learning from one s work and everyday experiences. And must also a motto
of belief in which the school is based upon. At TJHS the motto is take pride in what
you do. This motto is to be used by all the employees and the students.
Turlock Junior High School takes pride in having a diversity of staff and students,
providing communication among all, and being organized to be able function
accurately. Carl Rogers said If we value independence, if we are disturbed by the
growing conformity of knowledge, of values, of attitudes, which our present system
induces, then we may wish to set

Planet Of The Apes By Pierre Boulle
Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boulle tells the story of Ulysse, a space explorer and
journalist in the year 2500, who lands on a peculiar planet called Sorer. On this
planet, humans are mindless creatures and great apes are intelligent beings, and
Ulysse finds himself placed into a biological research facility, where he other feral
humans are caged and investigated by great apes. In an attempt to convince the great
apes of his journey and the notion that on planet Earth, it is the humanrace that
evolved to be civilized, Ulysse embarks on a series of demonstrations to earn his
freedom. When Ulysse is situated at the research facility, he carefully observes the
three kinds of great apes that inhabit Sorer: the chimpanzees, orangutans, and
gorillas. The novel portrays each species to have different characteristics and social
behaviors; the chimpanzees being progressive and smart, the gorillas aggressive and
ignorant, and the orangutans stubborn and conservative. This paper will thus explore
how accurate these depictions are in reality. Additionally, during his attempts to
establish his intelligence to the great apes of Sorer, Ulysse s human companion
Nova begins to learn the Simian language. Thus, the evolution of speech and how
humans evolved to possess what s necessary for speech will also be explored.
The social class structure and characteristics of the three main non human primates in

Analysis Of Christopher Columbus Voyages
There is no place on Earth that is not already victim to our stereotypes and
generalizations. If one were to name any continent on the planet, an image would
immediately be conjured up in our minds that paints the picture of our perception of
that entire region. While there may be millions of diverse people, cultures, and
landscapes that make up said region, one image will epitomize our characterization of
it. Essentially, this image illustrates our stereotype of the region. Stereotypes often
form the basis of our perspectives of foreign lands and the people they inhabit. Often,
these perspectives are ignorant to reality. Whether it be a continent, country, culture,
or any social or geographical entity, stereotypes are ingrained in our psyche, making a
profound impact on our thoughts, actions, and understandings towards foreign lands
and peoples during our travel experiences.
At the time of Christopher Columbus voyages, Europeans were seeing themselves as
superior beings as a result of the renaissance endorsing humanist ideals. In 1486, six
years before the first voyage of Columbus, Italian renaissance humanist Pico della
Mirandola published Oration on the Dignity of Man. The book, advocating the
potential capabilities of mankind, epitomized the renaissance literary movement
Europe was experiencing. Mirandola writes, Let some holy ambition invade our
souls, so that, dissatisfied with mediocrity, we shall eagerly desire the highest things

Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander
Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival.
Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person
can find sources of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things
that the prisoners think of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but
if one thinks about it, without them we would perhaps lose the will to carry on.
Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously
they have made their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other
more personal reasons to carry on. The two main factors of strength that ... Show

He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world.
Shukhov does not seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel,
one begins to see him taking a bigger interest in religion, and more importantly,
faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith is the strongest source of strength,
and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual goods rather than
material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the prisoners.
Aloysha hides his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides
his bread. This shows us that the Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to
Shukhov. At the end of the novel Shukhov gives away a biscuit to Alyosha and
expects nothing in return. This shows that he has taken Alyosha s advice and has
chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than keeping the material good.
Property is another source of strength in the novel. Possessing something that other
prisoners do not have is a way of showing individuality in a place where all the
prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they have or have not done.
Shukhov s spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in
order to keep it from being taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp
tries to take away anything that gives the prisoners a sense of individuality, or
anything that gives them happiness.

Rueter (1995) provides a detailed look into the world of politics during the civil
rights era. Rueter asserts that prior to the civil rights era, the Republican Party was
not as effective in gaining rights for minorities compared to proposals made by the
Democratic Party in the 1960s. He states that it was clear to minorities that the
Democratic Party was more supportive of civil rights versus Republicans due to their
lack of voting support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of
1965. Because of this, Republicans were seen as being against minorities due to their
lack of cooperation with the Democratic Party to end segregation and with President
Johnson to allow equal voting rights (240 1). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred
unequal application of voter registration requirements, outlawed discrimination in
public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce, encouraged the
desegregation of public schools and authorized the U. S. Attorney General to file suits
to force desegregation, authorized the withdrawal of federal funds from programs
which practiced discrimination, and outlawed discrimination in employment in any

movement caused southerners to cling to the Republican Party and gave the
Democratic Party more momentum to further support minority interests. The

Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected,
but I think that will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was
a program for youth to attend voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would

were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part of their recovery
process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with
them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are
stigmatized and thought of as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven t had

During this Phase iNKtopia will increase advertising on television, print ads, and

larger consumer base.
Maturity Phase
The maturity Phase will create a slowdown in sales growth because the product
has achieved acceptance by most potential buyers (Kotler Keller, 2012, p. 310). As
iNKtopia s profits become stable or deteriorate because of an increase in
competition the company must look to diversify. If the company is successful up to
this point the product will unavoidably lead to more competition. Competitors will
eventually start introducing similar products, or larger ink companies may simply
lower the price of their ink. Therefore iNKtopia will need to diversify or develop
new products, services, or lower costs to distinguish iNKtopia s products from the
competitors. Ideally, iNKtopia can enhance customer services and its image to
become a leader in the ink industry. This could also be coupled with a change in the
pricing strategy by slightly lowering the cost of iNKtopia products. However,

Masculinity In Disney
Hegemonic masculinity over the years has created an ideal image for males to look
up too. There is a lack of evolution and a negative body image being represented
with Disney. There is a high criteria in which every masculine character has to obtain.
The media helps pressure the creation of the perfect malein which Disney is
following over the years. Movies from 1970s to modern day movies show little

more to the back of the bus. However, Rosa Parks refused at their asking because
she was tried of giving in. The following excerpt explains what happened next; Are
you going to stand up? the driver demand. Rosa Parks looked straight at him and
said No. Flustered and not quite sure what to do, the driver retorted. Well, I m going
to have you arrested. And Rosa, still sitting next to the window, replied softly, You
may do that.
Range Rover Analysis
The Myth of The Range Rover and Hollywood In Hollywood you re not considered
a prominent figure, until you drive a Range Rover. For this reason, the Range
Rover is the perfect commodity to exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as
Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of speech, in which the history
of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels completely
natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into
Hollywood by celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities
such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was
originally used in the military and for off roading terrain has had it s history
drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth than it
used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a
prestigious and powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is
made specifically for the celebrities and the famous upper class personalities of
Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an authoritative god like presence
caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s height as it
is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Despite how large the body of the
vehicle appears, it can only sit five people so virtually no additional seating is
gained by the size of the vehicle, therefore the size of the vehicle is not for
convenience purposes, but for exterior appearance. The

Writing A Scholarship Essay Examples

  • 1. Writing A Scholarship Essay Examples Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing A Scholarship Essay Examples" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of the topic unveils a labyrinth of challenges. The task requires a delicate balance between showcasing one's achievements, demonstrating financial need, and weaving a compelling narrative that captivates the reader. To begin with, selecting the right examples to highlight in the essay demands a keen understanding of the scholarship's criteria. It involves introspection to identify key experiences, accomplishments, and challenges that align with the scholarship's objectives. This introspective process itself can be a challenging endeavor, requiring self-awareness and a critical evaluation of one's own journey. Once the content is identified, the challenge shifts to presenting it in a coherent and engaging manner. A scholarship essay should not read like a mere list of achievements; it should tell a story that resonates with the reader. Crafting a narrative that seamlessly integrates personal experiences, aspirations, and the specific criteria of the scholarship necessitates both creativity and precision. Furthermore, the essay must adhere to strict guidelines and word limits, adding an additional layer of difficulty. Every word becomes crucial, and conveying the desired message concisely without compromising on depth is an art in itself. Moreover, addressing the financial need component, if required, introduces a delicate balance. The writer must discuss financial challenges without sounding desperate or relying solely on a plea for assistance. Striking this balance requires finesse and a nuanced understanding of how to navigate such sensitive topics. Editing and revising become integral parts of the process, demanding a critical eye to polish the essay to perfection. The challenge lies not only in refining the language and structure but also in ensuring that the final product effectively communicates the intended message. In the end, despite the initial appearance of simplicity, writing a scholarship essay on the topic of examples is a multifaceted task that tests one's self-awareness, storytelling skills, adherence to guidelines, and ability to convey a compelling narrative within constraints. It's a challenging process that demands dedication, introspection, and refined writing skills. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that HelpWriting.net offers a range of services where similar essays and much more can be ordered, providing support for individuals navigating the complexities of scholarship essay writing. • 3. Six Perspectives In Psychology In psychology there are six perspectives: psychoanalytic, humanistic, behaviorism, cognitive, behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, and cultural. Each of these six perspective contribute to love and I will be explain how as well as giving a few examples for each. The first perspective I will be explaining is the theory that Sigmund Freud founded, psychoanalytic. Psychoanalytic is an approach in psychology that links psychological processes to activities in the nervous system and other bodily processes. (Schacter, 2015, p. 8). The amygdala is the part of our nervous system that is connected with emotions; for example the feeling of loveis coming from the amygdala. An example that happened to me of psychoanalytic is, One day I was hanging out with my friend John after getting out of a long term relationship with my ex boyfriend Joe. John took me out to the movies that Joe would always take me out too! after the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 9) Humanistic psychology is study a person as a whole not just that person view on themselves but, the person observing view on them as well. Every human wants to feel like they re loved. For example if you see your boyfriend tells you he s not feeling any love from you they might view you as maybe selfies because they think the always make sure you feel love. Behaviorism psychology is, The idea that psychology should restrict itself to studying objectively observable behavior. ( Schacter, 2015, p 10.) All behavior is learned from a persons environment. For example a mother who has a child at a young age is more likely to have the same happen to there child then someone who a child in there late 20 s early 30 s. If a single parent brings a lot of different boyfriend/girlfriend s around there kids then when the kid is older they will probably date a lot of people because they learned this from there

Introduction Nowadays there are a large number of investigations related to the microbiota and health not only of the gastrointestinal tract, the immune system but also the nervous system and mental health. Likewise, changes in the microbiota are implicated in the increasing tendency for a broad range of inflammatory diseases such as allergic disease, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity and the presence of non communicable diseases (NCDs) for instance, cardiovascular diseases (like heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructed pulmonary disease and asthma) and diabetes. Studies have suggested strategies that would regulate the intestinal microbiota for reducing the risk of such diseases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gut microbiota is involved in the regulation of multiple host metabolic pathways, giving rise to interactive host microbiota metabolic, signaling, and immune inflammatory axes that physiologically connect the gut, liver, muscle, and brain. A deeper understanding of these axes is a prerequisite for optimizing therapeutic strategies to manipulate the gut microbiota to combat disease and improve health (4). Discussion Interactions between the gut microbiota and the host immune system begin at birth. Some epidemiological studies suggest that C section babies may have an elevated risk for developing immune and metabolic disorders, including Type 1 diabetes, allergies, asthma and obesity. Scientists have theorized that these children may be missing key bacteria known to play a large role in shaping the immune system from the moment of birth onward. Babies delivered by cesarean section (C section) acquire a microbiota that differs from that of vaginally delivered infants, and C section delivery has been associated with increased risk for immune and metabolic disorders. Dominguez Bello et al conducted a pilot study in which infants delivered by C section were exposed to maternal vaginal fluids at birth. A mother s vaginal fluids loaded with one such essential bacterium,

  • 6. Satire in Don Quijote Essays Don Quijote was a tall, skinny wanna be who found himself morally obligated to involve himself in other people s business for the sole purpose of acting as a proper knight errant would. Although he believes that his battles help solve situations (though the results is usually the opposite), what it comes down to is that he wants to be famous, to be in love with his woman, to be accomplished, recognized, and adored. Therefore, Don Quijote s motives are self serving, and not by the book as a knight errant should be. But how do we know our hero wasn t just pretending to be crazy to get away with this? In chapter sixteen, Don Quijote and his sidekick, Sancho, arrive at an inn, all beat up from their battles, and from falling down a lot. The hero thinks the inn is a castle, and deems that they are owed a warm and comfortable place to sleep because he is the Great Don Quijote de La Mancha, braving battles against all evil for the purpose of saving the kingdom. Sancho and a girl who works at the inn, Maritones, have a knight errant conversation, in which he realizes he needs to explain the point behind what he and Don Quijote do. A knight errant can see himself, as fast as one, two, three, either beaten with clubs or turned into an emperor. Today, he can be the most wretched creature in the world, and the neediest, and tomorrow he can have two or three kingships to give his squire. (p. 87) The poor man really thinks that Don Quijote will someday be rich and famous and hook him up. Even if this became the case, as he is really secretly out for himself, for his own recognition, who s to say that Sancho would get anything out of this, except for orders to relay his newfound fame to Dulcinea? In chapter twenty two, Don Quijote, wanted so much to be idolized and

Doug Addison (unpublished) further explained that the Nigeria economy is not merely volatile; it is one of the most volatile economies in the world (see figure 1 below). There is evidence that this volatility is adversely affecting the real growth rate of Nigeria s gross domestic product (GDP) by inhibiting investment and reducing the productivity of investment, both public and private. Economic theory and empirical evidence suggest that sustained high future growth and poverty reduction are unlikely without a significant reduction in volatility. Taking a Look at Cassava Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of carbohydrate for more than 800 million people worldwide and its cultivation is estimated to cover more than 18.9 million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source of food and income to resource poor farmers (especially women) in the tropics and staple foodcrop for nearly 200 million people in the sub Saharan Africa (Liu et al., 2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013). In Tanzania, cassavaranks only second to maize and third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009). Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases especially cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases. Research efforts to genetically improve resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest deterioration and nutrients fortification of this crop are underway (Zang et al., 2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All these efforts are through genetic transformation method which relies on the ability of cassava to regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of cassava, it is difficult to use its zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic transformation protocols (Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 2001; Siritunga and Sayre 2003). The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On America Campaign Finance Introduction: In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five core American values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy (Wright and Rogers). America s numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to come into conflict each other. Such conflict characterizes the debate over the implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The Supreme Court s ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on political donations by Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even individuals. Originally these restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that could undermine the democracy inherent in US values and elections. The Supreme Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that independent expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They further asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed synonymous with people in terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling emphasized equality and freedom, but at what cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately corporate interests diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now

  • 34. Analysis Of Christopher Columbus Voyages There is no place on Earth that is not already victim to our stereotypes and generalizations. If one were to name any continent on the planet, an image would immediately be conjured up in our minds that paints the picture of our perception of that entire region. While there may be millions of diverse people, cultures, and landscapes that make up said region, one image will epitomize our characterization of it. Essentially, this image illustrates our stereotype of the region. Stereotypes often form the basis of our perspectives of foreign lands and the people they inhabit. Often, these perspectives are ignorant to reality. Whether it be a continent, country, culture, or any social or geographical entity, stereotypes are ingrained in our psyche, making a profound impact on our thoughts, actions, and understandings towards foreign lands and peoples during our travel experiences. At the time of Christopher Columbus voyages, Europeans were seeing themselves as superior beings as a result of the renaissance endorsing humanist ideals. In 1486, six years before the first voyage of Columbus, Italian renaissance humanist Pico della Mirandola published Oration on the Dignity of Man. The book, advocating the potential capabilities of mankind, epitomized the renaissance literary movement Europe was experiencing. Mirandola writes, Let some holy ambition invade our souls, so that, dissatisfied with mediocrity, we shall eagerly desire the highest things and shall toil with all our

Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival. Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find sources of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them we would perhaps lose the will to carry on. Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have made their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to carry on. The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a bigger interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith is the strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual goods rather than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the prisoners. Aloysha hides his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his bread. This shows us that the Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end of the novel Shukhov gives away a biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows that he has taken Alyosha s advice and has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than keeping the material good. Property is another source of strength in the novel. Possessing something that other prisoners do not have is a way of showing individuality in a place where all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they have or have not done. Shukhov s spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in order to keep it from being taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take away anything that gives the prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness.

Wagner (2007) states that during the early late 1800s and the early 1900s, Republican support weakened among the working class. In addition, many Americans, including a sizable number of Republicans, believed that American society had lost its moral fiber. Rueter (1995) provides a detailed look into the world of politics during the civil rights era. Rueter asserts that prior to the civil rights era, the Republican Party was not as effective in gaining rights for minorities compared to proposals made by the Democratic Party in the 1960s. He states that it was clear to minorities that the Democratic Party was more supportive of civil rights versus Republicans due to their lack of voting support of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Because of this, Republicans were seen as being against minorities due to their lack of cooperation with the Democratic Party to end segregation and with President Johnson to allow equal voting rights (240 1). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred unequal application of voter registration requirements, outlawed discrimination in public accommodations engaged in interstate commerce, encouraged the desegregation of public schools and authorized the U. S. Attorney General to file suits to force desegregation, authorized the withdrawal of federal funds from programs which practiced discrimination, and outlawed discrimination in employment in any business (Loevy 1997, 211 3). According to Klarman (2004) the civil rights movement caused southerners to cling to the Republican Party and gave the Democratic Party more momentum to further support minority interests. The Republican Party s inability to quickly
  • 37. Amp Meeting Reflection Today I went to my first AMP meeting. It was completely different than I expected, but I think that will turn out to be a good thing. In the beginning I thought this was a program for youth to attend voluntarily, and I thought most of the attendees would be from families with foster or kinship care. I was wrong, as most of the attendees were from group homes around Ames and they were there as part of their recovery process. This shocked me a little but in just the short amount of time I spent with them I grew to really like them. I think that often youth in group homes are stigmatized and thought of as bad kids, when in reality most of them just haven t had the support they need or grew up in poor environments that lead them to where they are.

During this Phase iNKtopia will increase advertising on television, print ads, and provide discounts and incentives to customers that want the ink delivered. The increase of advertising will continue to help the company grow, expand, and build a larger consumer base. Maturity Phase The maturity Phase will create a slowdown in sales growth because the product has achieved acceptance by most potential buyers (Kotler Keller, 2012, p. 310). As iNKtopia s profits become stable or deteriorate because of an increase in competition the company must look to diversify. If the company is successful up to this point the product will unavoidably lead to more competition. Competitors will eventually start introducing similar products, or larger ink companies may simply lower the price of their ink. Therefore iNKtopia will need to diversify or develop new products, services, or lower costs to distinguish iNKtopia s products from the competitors. Ideally, iNKtopia can enhance customer services and its image to become a leader in the ink industry. This could also be coupled with a change in the pricing strategy by slightly lowering the cost of iNKtopia products. However, iNKtopia will strive to create superior customer service and innovation of the ink business to hopefully create additional sales and attract even more customers. Another promotional idea would be to focus on the environmental

There is a lack of evolution and a negative body image being represented with Disney. There is a high criteria in which every masculine character has to obtain. • 41. Range Rover Analysis The Myth of The Range Rover and Hollywood In Hollywood you re not considered a prominent figure, until you drive a Range Rover. For this reason, the Range Rover is the perfect commodity to exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new modern history that feels completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover has been appropriated into Hollywood by celebrities and is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay Z and David Beckham. This vehicle, which was was originally used in the military and for off roading terrain has had it s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege as it is made specifically for the celebrities and the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood. The Range Rover s appearance has an authoritative god like presence caused by the size of the vehicle. It is a large vehicle, but mostly in it s height as it is not very wide and appears significantly slim. Despite how large the body of the vehicle appears, it can only sit five people so virtually no additional seating is gained by the size of the vehicle, therefore the size of the vehicle is not for convenience purposes, but for exterior appearance.
