Social Psychological And Biological Factors
In 2007 2008 youth offending rates were four times more than from people over 19 and are
consistently higher than persons over 25 (K. Richards, 2011) .
This essay will explain why and also how youth crime is highest in late adolescence but declines in
early adulthood. This will be shown through relevant theories for example Robert Agnews theory on
adolescent peak in offending and also with reference to recent research from theorists like (Laub and
Sampson, 2003) , which explain how through social psychological and biological factors can be a
trigger for crime among youths. Also importantly discussing how the youths in transition impact crime
rates within youths and official statistics on crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the UK criminals aged between 10 17 attend youth courts, which are for crimes like theft and
burglary, anti social behavior and drugs offences. There are detention and training orders carried out in
secure centers for young people. Sentences given are normally community sentences.
The Minority of young people engage in serious offending. 17% of boy s aged 10 17 had committed a
serious offence in the year 2005 (Budd et al., 2005). Youths that commit multiple offences are a
minority as only 1/4th of young offenders have committed six or more offences making them frequent
offenders (Roe Ashe, 2008).
In official statistics 43% of all crimes and offences in Scotland are attributable to young people who
are under 21 DTZ (2005).
The reason crimes could be higher in youths can be seen in the sort of crimes they commit, for
example vandalism, handling offensive weapons and house breaking.
Some researchers believe youth offending and petty crimes are a product of working class street and
leisure culture (McAlister, 2008). Youths have restricted leisure activities due to environment,
financial access and lack of places to socialise for

Stephen King s Insight On Dreams
Stephen King s insight on dreams are all based on personal experiences. King begins by comparing
the functionality of a dream to a mirror I ve always used dreams the way you d use a mirror to look at
something you couldn t see head on . By using this idea of dreams being like mirrors, King is able to
alleviate his writer s block by depicting his dreams directly onto paper. An example would be when
King had already written seven to eight hundred pages of his novel which he could not seem to finish.
Then later reveals how a nightmare provoked the ending, he states how he woke up frightened yet at
the same time relieved he d finished the book. According to King all he had to do at this point was to
take his dream and transfer it to paper. Without a doubt, King s personal experiences can justify why
he believes dreams are a way that people s minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe
even illustrates the answer to their problem in symbolic language .
After reading Stephen King s essay, it is easy to conclude that his dreams are extremely valuable to his
writing. King makes it clear that he has a consistent writing habit, but an unpredictable though
process. King also believes that a strong writer can dream while awake. He illustrates many example
where he uses dreams to create or finish a novel or film. This approach is random and unpredictable.
An example of his approach would be when he was working on the Salems Lot. King explains how he
relied on a nightmare

Discuss the Relationship Between Sexual Selection and...
There are many theories that try to explain relationships between sexual selection and human
reproductive behaviour. Evolutionary theory is one such theory. There are many different species in
the world which, according to Darwin, all came from one source, e.g. a bacteria or organism. Within
each species, natural variation occurs, therefore the individual beings within the specie look different
from one another. These differences are caused by genetic makeup (50% from your mum, 50% from
your dad). There are some genes like down syndrome that get switched on when combined with other
genes. Some genes can also undergo mutation a random change (e.g. being born with six fingers,
instead of five). Most mutations are harmful, for example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In another study, Langlois and Roggaman (1990) took photos of faces and morphed them together to
produce composite images made up of 4, 8, 16 or 32 images. Participants rated faces as increasingly
attractive the more faces that went into each image; this applied to both male and female faces. The
more faces in an image, the more symmetrical they become, it seems that moving a facial image closer
to the average increases its perceived attractiveness. It is likely that symmetry equates to fitness and
good genes , these people are less likely to have been affected by harmful mutation. People with
attractive faces are preferred because of the benefits of passing on these attractive characteristics to
offspring. Little Hancock propose that humans have evolved to be attracted to symmetrical faces
because they indicate averageness , which equates to genetic health. Grammar and Thornhill (1994)
found that females are attracted to males with masculine characteristics, for example: large jaw and
prominent cheekbones. These features arise as a result of testosterone, which is also a handicap
because it suppresses the immune system. Therefore, showing only healthy individuals can afford to
produce these traits advertising a strong immune system. Cartwright (2000) supported this, finding
men prefer photographs of women with symmetrical faces and vice versa. Body to hip ratio are
indicators of genetic fitness; they form universal physical

Employee Paid Time Essay
Paid time off is very appealing to employees and it is also a helpful tool for employers to utilize.
Allowing an employee twelve days off instead of dividing up some days for vacation and some days
for sick days, gives the employee the flexibility to use the days however the employee wants to use
them. With that being said, the concept of paid time off may provide an employee more time to use as
vacation days, which is a powerful tool that can benefit the employer because it would help in
recruiting and retaining employees within the organization (Lopez, 2014). The twelve paid time off

proper time to plan for the instance. If PTO time was offered, the employer would have time to
prepare and overcome the situation by the employee being off work by either reducing the production
or by hiring a few more people to cover in these instances (Korotin, 2011). If the employer had ample
time to plan the work schedule around requested PTO days, the employer could ensure that all the job
duties where covered for that shift while that employee was away from work. The strategic planning
in regarding to filling the work schedule is very important in ensuring the company is being as
productive and profitable as possible when employees are away from work. The offering of PTO to
employees, would allow for the company to plan the work schedule more efficiently in an effort to
keep operations running as smoothly as

Neanderthal Essay
Neanderthals were a species of archaic humans who migrated out of Africa and into Europe and Asia.
However, around 40,000 years ago the large populations of Neanderthals died off and became extinct.
The mysterious circumstances that surrounded their extinction drove various research teams to
undertake the task of excavating numerous Neanderthal sites to collect fossilized bones, and artifacts
in order to learn more about this group of ancestral humans. Over the past years, major technological
advances have allowed researches to analyze the fossilized remains of the Neanderthals which led to
major discoveries. For example, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary
Anthropology found that the ear ossicles of Neanderthals and modern humans had similar functions
but differed in terms of structure. In the study, the researchers used high resolution computer
tomography (CT) to scan numerous Neanderthal skulls from different sites in order to determine if
there are ossicles present in the middle ear cavity (tympanic membrane). The scans revealed ossicles
in fourteen different skulls which came as a surprise to the researchers since the bones of the ossicles
are fragile and break down easily in the soil. The researchers then used microcomputed tomography
scans and 3D geometric morphometrics in order to virtually reconstruct the bones of the ossicles
which are composed of the malleus, incus and stapes. The 3D reconstructions of the ossicles allowed
the scientists to

Correcting Wrong Site Anesthesia Errors

Abstract
There are number of issues facing healthcare in the United States that are not exclusive to one area
and often occur during routine tasks. Although many of these issues are addressed on a daily basis, the
need to fix them is still important. Medical errors are a continuous problem seen nationwide in
hospitals and surgical centers. More exclusively wrong site peripheral nerve blocks have been seen in
hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers across the United States (Hudson, Sullivan, 2012). The first
section of the paper takes a look at a number of reasons why peripheral nerve block errors occur and
the risk factors associated with them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See Figure 1 for a detailed example of the difference between popliteal and femoral nerve block
approaches.
There are a number of reasons why Medical errors occur and causes that can be addressed. Wrong site
anesthesia nerve blocks are preventable medical errors and the occurrences of these errors are a
concern for medical staff each day.
Because to Err is human, operating room staff members should have fail safe provisions in place in an
attempt to prevent wrong site nerve block errors from happening.
There are a number of potential causes of popliteal and femoral nerve block errors that can be broken
down into process factors and system factors. System factors focus on the lack of checklists, and the
exclusion of certain surgical teams members. Whereas, process factors focus on things like,
inadequate communication with team members or one patient having multiple procedures done.

factors that contribute to medical errors.
Benchmarking can be a successful tool to determine root causes and potential solutions to a problem.

The Cut Short Story

The Cut
It was a Friday, I hopped off the bus and sprinted home as fast as I could to pack my clothes in my
suitcase. I regretted procrastinating the night before, because my mom would be home any minute to
leave for Oklahoma. I grabbed my suitcase and flung it carelessly on my bed. I was so excited for my
basketball tournament that I stood on my bed and began packing quickly. Suddenly i remembered that
I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and felt something cut through my toe
like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with blood dripping down the side.
Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I hopped
into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of the bathtub
and turned on the water. While the water washed the fresh blood, I called my dad on my phone. I
heard his thunderous footsteps coming down the hallway. He swung open the door and wrapped my
foot in a towel.
He helped me into the car as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

but at the same time there was an ominous silence to it. I sat alone with my thoughts until they were
broken by the sound of my name. They helped me inside and looked at my foot once more. Instantly
they decided that I would need stitches. That was what I figured from the very beginning, but still
dreaded the idea. Right before they began the stitches they looked once more and realized the cut
wasn t deep enough for something as drastic as stitches. They simply decided to use skin glue instead.
They glued the skin back together with much less pain and effort that stitches could have caused. I
walked out with my cautiously trying not to break the glue because I never wanted to walk back into

Band Session At The Baked Potato
This concert report will go into great detail regarding the performance that I witnessed, as well as the
genre of Jazz that was played, the artist, and the techniques that were used. I will start with my
personal experience of the concert that I attended. This will focus on the details of the performance, as
well as my mindset before and after the show. Next, this paper will research the origins of the genre of
Jazz that was played, which is Funk and has been supported by several scholarly sources. Then I will
look at the origin of the Jam Session. Finally I will then end with information regarding the
performers themselves as well as the history of the venue.
For my concert report I went with the members of my group presentation to the weekly jam session at
The Baked Potato, located in studio city. We just got done with a long night of studying, it was late, a
Monday, and I was tired. This was the first Jazz show that I have ever been to and I didn t know what
to expect. I had zero expectations going into this and in the end I m glad I didn t. When we arrived I
was immediately surprised at how small the venue was. There was maybe a little more than thirty
people in totally and it was a packed house. We took our seats right next to the stage, sitting directly in
front of the bassist and lead guitar player. As we ordered our two drink minimum and a couple of
baked potatoes to share, I watched as the rest of the band started to step on stage. Some seemed to

Social Classes During The Industrial Revolution
Social classes During the time frame of the Industrial Revolution there were 3 main social classes: The
upper class, the middle class, and the lower class or the working class. The upper class were the rich
and with the advancement of new technology, became richer. Goods could be created and sold for a
cheaper price in their factories. With the working class looking for work, were employed by the
factory owners. The advantaged social class that had enjoyed wealth and success, had now achieved a
new level of luxury. The middle class saw benefits from the new era and seized the opportunity. The
middle class allowed the working class to lift them into the upper class by creating many jobs in their
factories and businesses. The middle class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They constructed mansions and libraries and museums and collected fine art with their newfound
wealth. They extended their range of fine silk clothes and comfortable furniture and ran factories with
cheap labour from the working class. The middle class probably had the biggest positive impact. Due
to their small factories or businesses success, the middle class benefited and they made their way to
the upper class. As this happened the middle class took advantage of newly affordable items such as
furniture and clothing allowing themselves a more comfortable life. Negative effects The Working
class that made up around 80% of society had little or no bargaining power with their employers
resulting in the continuation of unfair working hours, bad wages, and unsanitary and hazardous
working conditions. The workers could not even fight for their rights in the political system as only
the rich were eligible to vote. There is barely sufficient work for the regular employment of half of our
labourers, so that only 1,500,000 are fully and constantly employed, while 1,500,000 more are
employed only half their time, and the remaining 1,500,000 wholly unemployed (Thompson cited in

Character Analysis Of Creon In Antigone By Sophocles
In the play Antigone, Creon s admirable personality, noble stature, and tragic flaw makes him one of
the main tragic characters in this particular play. In the beginning, Sophocles reveals Creon as only a
leader. He has legitimate reasons for all of his punishments. Creon s hubris by the end of the play has
completely taken over him, in conclusion, this leads him to his death. Once Creon finally realizes the
effect his hubris has on his problems, it is far too late. Creon lost his son, wife, his kingdom, and even
his will to live. This is the journey of a tragic character. Creon insists that Polyneices...is to have no
burial: no man is to touch him or say the least prayer for him; he shall lie on the plain, unburied (
Scene 1. Line 29.). Considering Creon is extremely stubborn, his ego keeps him from receiving any
advice that anyone tries to tell him. My voice is the one voice giving orders in this city , says Creon.
He is too prideful to listen to anyone because he believes it ll destroy his pride. Prophet Teiresias has
an intimate discussion with him and he warns Creon a good man yields when he knows his course is
wrong. The only crime is pride ( Scene 5. Line 35). In the exodus, line 138, Creon states, Fate has
brought all my pride to a thought of dust. This shows that in the end, Creon realizes that his pride
helped bring about the chain of events that led to his fall. In line 142 of the exodus, the Choragos says,

The Intoucables Thesis
The Intoucables is a French comedy movie filmed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache in 2011. The
plot of this film is based on a true story in between a wealthy disabled old man, Philippe Pozzo di
Borgo, and his caretaker Abdel Sellou (In the film, Abdel s character is named as Driss). The story of
Philippe and Driss is inspiring. As a student who is learning to be a qualified volunteer, I think there
are several things that we can learn from the experience of these two men. Thus, in this paper, I am
going to explore what abilities should a good volunteer have, referring to the process of Driss taking
care of Philippe. In my opinion, I feel that Driss is an extraordinary caregiver since he usually uses
unconventional methods to look after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, it cannot be said that Philippe is tolerating Driss, since they associate with each other very
friendly. The reason behind their excellent relationship is Driss always showing the most sincere side
of himself to Philippe. He takes care of all the ways Philippe needed and participate in every moment
of his life after he is hired. Philippe once stated the intention of employing Driss in a conversation
with his friend Antoine. Antoine originally suggests Philippe to fire Driss because he went to jail for
robbery before. Even though Philippe notices Driss s criminal record, he does not follow his friend s
wish. He clarified that the largest difference between Driss and his former caregivers is, he will not
show any mercy to him regardless of his infirmity. For example, when someone phones Philippe,
Driss will not pass him the phone as he sometimes forgets his illness. In addition, Driss will play
tricks on Philippe (placing a hot water bottle on his legs) in order to test whether he does not have any
sense. Just like what I mentioned in the above paragraph, ordinary people probably consider Driss s
behaviors are insane, but I guess most of them just neglect the real needs and the genuine feeling of
Philippe. Moreover, I insist this is the reason why the movie is named as The Intouchables , as no one

Essay On Tribal Tattoos
While tribal tattooing has a history as far back as tattooing itself, these types of images have gained a
huge increase in general popularity, beginning in the early 1990s. Traditional tribal tattooing was (and
is) done for many reasons. Some of the most common reasons for tribal tattoos include rites of
passage, social status, or even simple family identification. Some tribes also believe tattoos hold
magical or spiritual significance. Of course, there are also instances where tribe members get tattooed
simply for aesthetic reasons. Some of the most well known variations of tribal tattoos come from
tribes from Borneo, the Polynesian Islands, the Maori, Native Americans, and Celtic tribes. Tattoos of
Chinese and Japanese characters have also become very commonplace among Westerners.

One appealing aspect is the bold nature of the images. Tribal tattoos are almost always done in black,
often with thick, interweaving lines that show up very strongly against the skin. Also, because of the
bold, solid black nature of the images, tribal tattoos are less likely to fade or blur, giving them greater
longevity. Both the tattoo artist and the receiver of the artwork have a lot of artistic freedom with tribal
type tattoos, as much or most of the modern types of this artwork has little to do with any specific
actual tribe. Almost any kind of image can be turned into a tribal design, so you see many varieties of
this kind of artwork. If you don t want to create your design or do not have one in mind already,
professional tattoo artists will nearly always have books of flash designs for you to pick from. Another
appealing aspect of tribal tattoos is that the designs tend to work very well in popular body areas for
tattooing, such as the upper arms and the back. Arm and leg bands are some of the most common
styles of tribal

Illegal Immigrants Are Good For The Economy Of The United...
Throughout the history of independent United States, the country has attracted immigrants from
different parts of the world. Illegal immigrants form the larger proportion of the immigrants into the
United States. Policy analysts, government officials, as well as scholars have sought to ascertain the
political, social, and economic impacts of the illegal immigrants (Hanson 11). Particularly, there has
been raging debate regarding the economic impact of illegal immigration to the United States of
America. It has become a matter of debate and study as it relates considerably to the nation s politics
and economy. At the centre of this debate is the question of whether illegal immigrants are good or
bad to the economy of the United States (Dudley 18).
Various studies have shown that majority of the United States citizens think that illegal immigrants are
bad for the nation s economy. However, there are those who believe that they are good for the
economy. Several surveys show that there is consensus among many economists that both legal and
illegal immigration is good for the economy as it provides cheap labor, gives net boost to the
economy, reduce the cost of goods and services, and widens the market for goods and services
(Kenney 23). This paper will discuss illegal immigration and its impact on the economy.
In general terms, illegal immigrants are defined as all individuals who are foreign born and are non
American citizens and who are not the legal residents of the nation.

Healthcare Accounting Principles and Ethics
Financial Management, Reporting Practices, and Ethical Standards in Health Care Finance Allison
Moore Financial Management, Reporting Practices, and Ethical Standards in Health Care Finance
Health care managers have many responsibilities, which support their roles in creating and
maintaining successful organizations. A key responsibility managers undertake is the ability to manage
financials appropriately. First and foremost, financial management is a decision science. Whereas
accounting provides decision makers with a rational means by which to budget for and measure a
business s financial performance, financial management provides the theory, concepts, and tools
necessary to make better decisions (Gapenski, 2007). For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fore mentioned reporting principles are required because they force organizations to adhere to
ethical reporting methods. Financial reports must be reported fairly and factually to ensure all parties
receive reliable and unbiased information. A perfect example of this is the Principle of Prudence. If a
department manager receives a report that understates previous expenses and exaggerates department
revenues, the manager would not have a valid budget to work with. Not possessing a correct budget
could affect wages, hiring, supply orders, decisions, and multiple other operational areas. This could
lead to a lack of resources and poor decisions that ultimately reduce patient care objectives. In terms
of revenue, multiple medical facilities rely heavily on government funding. To receive government
funding, these facilities must adhere to outlined reporting practices. Facilities that fail to do so will
lose a substantial amount of government revenue. In addition, fines may be imposed for compliance
failures. Although the most significant downfalls of false reporting are false expectations and possible
bankruptcy. If organizations do not control expenses and drive revenues, they will not remain in
business. By keeping managers in the dark, one could not expect them to drive positive outcomes.
These are just a few examples of why reporting standards are so important. Ethical Conduct of

Local Waste Pollution
to the LCRMS is from municipal, or local waste that towns produce (Landfill Facts). The LCRMS has
a very good relationship with the local community however (Hassenplug). One of the main issues that
affects how people live is odor pollution. Whenever there are complaints of odor problems, the landfill
addresses that problem immediately (Hassenplug). The problems associated with landfills don t
directly affect the people of the local area drastically, and people don t need to live differently because
of it. The LCRMS purposely has a buffer zone and is in a sedentary area, so they aren t close to
surrounding towns and counties. It s easy to pinpoint the cause of the problem in our local area.
According to the fact sheet 54% of waste is municipal, 22% of waste is residual, 10% of waste is from
sewage sludge, 11% from construction/demolition, and 2% of waste is from Ash Asbestos (Landfill
Facts). These are interesting numbers that show where the problem comes from directly in my local
area. These are all areas that solid waste comes from, and is brought to the landfill. According to
Danny, there are 40 50 companies that bring landfill to this area (Hassenplug). Again, 54% of waste
comes from cities and towns so that means a majority of the waste is produced by people in the
surrounding area of the landfill. Living in America, we re all very wasteful people simply because it s

IV. Supplier Power
A producing industry requires raw materials labor, components, and other supplies. This requirement
leads to buyer supplier relationships between the industry and the firms that provide it the raw
materials used to create products. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an influence on the producing
industry, such as selling raw materials at a high price to capture some of the industry s profits. The
following tables outline some factors that determine supplier power.

From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive
advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources:
Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve
competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of
monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies
because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to
permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this
advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of
barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by
competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local
governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal
government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices.
The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the
banking industry. Until the 1970 s, the markets that banks could enter were limited by state
governments. As a result, most banks were local commercial and

Great Wave Off Kanagawa Essay
An art work has many elements and principles to it. These are known as elements and principles of
design. The print The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has many elements and principles of
design that show how much the artist used them in his work.
The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has all the elements of design. For example, one of the
best aspects of the print is Hokusai s utilization of line to create both motion and space in the wave
(NGA). The curves of the wave and body of one boat drop just low enough to allow the base of Mount
Fuji to be visible, and the white top of the great wave creates a diagonal line that leads the viewer s
eye directly to the peak of the mountain top (Harris). The dramatically curved, upwards line of the
wave frames the mountain, whilst the jagged ends act as claws which almost personify the waves into
a hunter grasping at its prey; the frail, delicate fishing boats seem to have no chance against the water
(Ladkin). There are many ways in which Hokusai uses line in The Great Wave off Kanagawa .
Another element of design that Hokusai uses in The Great Wave is shape. For example, there are small

Mp Machinery (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Mpm) Is A One Stop...
MP Machinery (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (MPM) is a one stop machinery company in East Malaysia
where it is known as one of the state s leading machinery corporation in supplying pumps,
machineries and various engineering products. After conducting the interview, I have understood
growth in MPM as increasing in employment and business sales/profit as well as involving in
government projects within Malaysia. MPM has been growing sustainably for 28 years employing
around 150 staff with the aim of growing 5 10% profit each year. MPM has been growing organically
where profits have been reinvested to increase capacity such as the building of new stores (Allen,
2006). In other words, this means MPM has been improving its efficiency and effectivity in ... Show

According to Wickham (2006) process of growth model, MPM would be looking into financial growth
as the company focuses commercial activities such as profitability, sales and turnover. Besides,
strategic growth will be taken into account when competing with its competitors in its market industry
in creating or selling new products when compared with their competitors. After implementing the
theories in MPM, it helped me understand MPM s market analysis of rivalry among existing
competitors. Applying Churchill and Lewis model in MPM, it can be said that it is in between Stage
III: Success and Stage IV: Take off, as it has its own brand and have been sustained its business for
over 25 years (Churchill and Lewis, 1983). Over the years, MPM has expanded to more branches of
offices which shows that the company has attained economic health and has sufficient size to ensure
economic success. After applying frameworks and theories, it can be stated that in terms of growth in
a company, I have learnt that it can be applied and indicated differently in distinctive companies. To
exemplify, growth can mean increase in staff employment in a company whereas it can also mean
increase in production volume. However, it is clear that growth must be planned, organised, activated
and controlled (Nieman and Pretorius, 2004). In other words, growth can be either sustaining its
business in the industry or expanding its business. Having to explore

Kelly Lusk s A Love Story
Kelly Lusk s (a love story) surrounds six different characters all finding and dealing with their idea of
love. This play was selected as a participant in the National New Play Network s 2013 Master of Fine
Arts workshop at Kennedy Center as well as read at Orlando Shakespeare Theater s 2013 festival of
new plays, PlayFest. Playwright, Kelly Lusk recently completed his Master of Fine Arts degree in
playwriting at Indiana University and has written many other plays including, Space, and king
oedipus. As (a love story) is about people loving other to the best of their abilities, it is not your
typical love story. (A love story) is narrated by three quite humorous characters that provide
explanations and commentary on the situations the other characters have encountered in that moment.
They also play supporting, anthropomorphic roles as plants and an ant. This trio acts as a Greek
chorus, which is a small group of actors who comment, either by speaking or singing in unison, on the
action of the play. While this play was humorous at times, it tells the tragic as well as happy outcomes
love can have.

The Paleolithic And Neolithic
Many people wonder where they come from and how they became humans. There are two eras
throughout history that talks about how humans used to survive when there wasn t anything to make a
well constructed shelter, weapons or kitchen essentials to make food to eat. According to Garvin
Lewis in the book WCIV Volume 1. Boston: Wadsworth, Cengage Learning, 2012, the Paleolithic era
was the earliest and longest period of prehistory, when humans used simple stone stool (Lewis). The
Neolithic era was the period of human history characterized by advances in stone stool making and the
beginning of agriculture (Lewis). This essay is going to compare and contrast the people in Paleolithic
era and Neolithic. The difference between the people in the Paleolithic and Neolithic era was the way
they both obtain food, and how they both lived. The similarity that the people of the Paleolithic and
Neolithic era had was that each gender obtained somewhat the same roles. Lastly, the way that art was
used. In the Paleolithic era, people were foragers and gathers because they used to hunt wild animals
and forage wild plants (Diamond). In this era, everyone was constantly looking for food since they
didn t have no stored food and no concentrated food source (Diamond). Since they didn t have a place
to permanently live in they used to move around and find food as a small group and they used to
permanently stay in caves. In the other hand, Farmer of the Neolithic era were people that

Guidelines for the ECON 411W Term Paper
Each student is expected to write a term paper on a topic relevant to the course, but of your choosing.
Each of you should chose a topic and submit the idea by October 5th for my approval. In your
proposal, you should describe to me what you plan to write about and why. You must (and this is
important) provide a brief selection of material/scholarly articles that you plan to rely on for your
paper. After your topic has been approved, you are free to begin development of the paper in greater
detail.
The purpose of this writing assignment is to help you express your thoughts/findings on a subject

conclusion/summary is well reasoned and satisfies the objectives you laid out in the introduction. If it
does not, you must be careful to explain why it does not, and what still needs to be learned on this
subject to adequately fulfill the promise of the introduction. Failure is perfectly acceptable, as long as
it was an honest effort and one that has led to a deeper understanding of the subject.
With an eye to the four points above, the paper will be graded roughly as follows: * 40% for content
and conceptual clarity * 40% for the integration of classroom content * 20% for grammar and style.
It will take me one week to read your papers and to respond with comments. You will get these on
November 23rd. You are to consider my comments carefully and address them. Where you don t agree

The Road Not Taken, And All The World At Stage
These three carpe diem poems (To The Virgins, To Make Much Of Time by Robert Herrick, The Road
Not Taken by Robert Frost, and All The World At Stage by William Shakespeare ) each has their own
subjects to which they use the tone, speaker, and purpose of supporting. There are clearly numerous of
similarities as well as differences in these poems as they are written by different poets with the same
messages. Reading all three of the poems, I gathered several informative notes that would help me
know how and why each of these carpe diem poems relate to our everyday life as much as they do
each other. Firstly, tracking down the speakers in these poems was easily done. These poems do not

For example, Herricks To The Virgins, To Make Much Of Time addresses the audience with a serious,
yet delightful wake up alarm that makes his attitude seem wise as if he s already witnessed all aspects
of life. He says Gather ye rose buds while ye may, Old time is still a flying which indicates that he s
being encouraging about life s gifts and the importance of gathering them. This differs from Robert
Frosts The road not taken in a way where Frost s tone is rather considerative while also being proud. I
can imagine him feeling delighted and relaxed while writing Oh, I kept the first of another day! , and I
took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference . He seems considerative because he
is also feeling uncertain about choosing the right path when he says I doubted if I should ever come
back . Those are the emotions I can visualize him feeling. Shakespeares tone in the poem All The
World s A Stage gave me a very negative image of how his attitude is like. I sensed dullness and a sad
tone from him. Him saying For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice, turning again toward
childish treble, proves that he is having a pessimistic tone. A tone very much different from the other

The proposed process for receiving raw materials will be through the use of hand held bar code
scanners throughout each department. As the product is received, the bar code labels on the containers
will be scanned which will automatically input the part number and quantity into the receiving
department. After product inspection, the material is moved to its designated storage space inside the
warehouse. As the material is needed in production, it is scanned and moved out of storage into the
work in process area, which will allow the system to remove it from available inventory. As the final
product is produced, it is loaded on labeled pallets that will be shipped to designated customers.
Implementation of barcode scanners will enable a more consistent, accurate, and timely recording of

Essay about The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
From generation to generation, the constant struggle for males to live up to the expectations of their
fathers often affects the choices made and actions taken by the sons. Perhaps, the overbearing
testosterone levels claim responsibility for the apparent need for sons to impress their fathers, but not
all boys consider the realistic consequences of their decisions. In Khaled Hosseini s novel The Kite
Runner, young Amir s admiration for his father Baba, coupled with the constant tension in their
relationship obscures his mind from making clear decisions as he strives to obtain his father s love and
approval.
Amir and his father share a very strained relationship. The saying, The apple doesn t fall far from the

Amir, representing the Pashtuns and high society Afghanis, allows himself to degrade Hassan, the face
of the mere Hazaras of the lowest class rank. Through the eyes of Amir, it seems as though Baba
preoccupies himself passing time with his comrade Rahim Khan; when he sporadically attempts to
involve Amir in his life, Baba always suggests that Hassan accompany them in their daily adventures
leaving Amir questioning why his father tries desperately to avoid alone time and bonding moments
with his son. The initial occurrences in which Amir witnesses Baba s immediate affection for Hassan
drive Amir s negative mental attitude and envy towards his only companion Hassan.
Hosseini utilizes outside environmental factors to contribute to the preeminating assumption of Amir s
character. The actions taken in response to external stimuli convey the true nature of not only the
protagonist Amir but his genuine friend and unknown half brother Hassan. The two juvenile Afghani
boys face many challenges growing up in Kabul; bullies taunt and threaten them routinely. Assef, the
leader among the tormentors, inadvertently plays a key role in determining the measures taken by
Amir in order to gain the acceptance of his father. Under repetitive harassment and criticism, Amir
rarely fights against his subjugation. Baba discerns his son s predominant flaw: cowardice. In his
mentality, Baba believes that a boy who won t stand up for himself becomes a man who

Executive Summary
Mixed Martial arts, The UFC s official sport is one of the most exciting and fastest growing sports in
the world. The sport is best described as combat sports were two individuals are matched inside a
cage, octagon or ring for a period of three to five, five minute rounds. The match is won by knocking
out your opponent, submitting them or winning by a decision, judged by three ringside judges. Mixed
Martial arts has changed throughout the years as new rules and weight classes have been progressively
introduced throughout the years in order to streamline and downplay its image.
Nonetheless Mixed Martial Arts from its on set in the late 1980 s has been marred with controversy
often described as a barbaric sport with little to no rules. Several critics lobbied at its early existence to
try and ban the sport from entering the mainstream. In the late 1990 s, Senator John McCain, one of

Classical Management Theorists
Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol were both theorists of the classical management movement. The
classical approach was the framework to what management is all about. Therefore it can be said that
they laid the foundation for many theorists. Frederick Taylor was an important theorist of the early
20th century and he made many important contributions to management. He proposed the principles
of scientific management which he believed would improve industrial efficiency. He believed
management could be formulated as a discipline. Taylor s principles of scientific management focused
on cooperation between management and the workers as well as improving the technical skills of the
workers (Hodgetts, 1995). His approach is often referred to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(Hodgetts, 1995).
Taylor s scientific management focused on increasing productivity, whereas Fayol s administrative
management theory focuses on ways to make the organisation more effective and efficient. Scientific
management focused on employees as individuals and their tasks, general administrative management
theory dealt with total management organization. According to Pindur Rogers, 1995, General
management theory was a much broader theory concerned with administrative management functions
and is considered the forerunner of modern organization theory.
For Henri Fayol, management was not so much as a way of devising systems to increase productivity
but it was concerned with the integration of the different functions of the organisation such as
production, sales, finance and so on (Wren, 1994).
According to Fayol the success of an organization depended more on the administrative skills of the

Thyroid Surgery Research Paper
Thyroid surgery is a broad term covering any type of operation on the thyroid gland. This is an organ
shaped like a butterfly which sits at the front of your neck, producing hormones that maintain your
metabolism. Almost all thyroid surgery involves some type of thyroid removal, also called a
thyroidectomy. There are two main types of thyroid removal: a total thyroidectomy and a
hemithyroidectomy. In a total thyroidectomy, your whole thyroid gland is removed, whereas in a
hemithyroidectomy only about one half of it is removed.
Thyroid surgery is done by endocrine surgeons. These are surgeons who have specialised in operating
on organs which produce hormones such as the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and adrenal glands.
This means that the doctor carrying out the thyroid surgery will have years of experience in thyroid
removal and be able to minimise any risks. They are able to discuss what type of surgery is best for
you and what your unique concerns are. While your surgeon will discuss risks in detail before gaining
your consent for the surgery here are three of the most important complications of thyroid surgery,
especially thyroid removal.

Tuberculosis Is The Most Common Opportunistic Infection...
Tuberculosis (TB) is the most common opportunistic infection and cause of death among people living
with Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (Olaniran, Hassan Olajokun, Oyovwevotu Agunlejika,
2011). HIV positive patients have about a 20 37 folds higher chance of developing Tuberculosis than
their HIV negative counterparts (Kamath, Sharma, Pattanshetty, Hegde Chandrasekaran, 2013)
The interaction between these two diseases has synergistic effect leading to excessive burden on the
patient, their support network and the society at large. According to Siika,Yiannoutsos, Wools
Kaloustian, Musick, Mwangi, Diero Carter (2013), TB accounts for about 26% of all HIV/AIDS
related deaths with more than 90% of the deaths occurring in developing countries, mostly in Sub
Saharan Africa. HIV TB co infected patients have been shown to have worse treatment outcomes
(high mortality, Defaulter, Failure, etc.) than when treating TB alone. WHO has worked to provide a

Introduction
Solidification is process through which crystalline materials, such as metals and alloys, transform
from non crystallized state into crystallized state. This process is a basic technique used in alloy
casting, growth of single phase semiconductors, welding and etc. We need to understand what s
happening during solidification and how it affect the structure of final materials, which directly
determines the properties of products. Besides, a proper set of solidification parameters also helps to
improve energy efficiency.
Principle of solidification process
1. Nucleation
The whole process begins with the creation of a combination of atoms randomly, followed by
stabilization of these tiny cores (homogeneous nucleation). Thermodynamics plays an important role
because it determines if the liquid continues to solidify or remains in equilibrium.

English Literature Review
The article, Relationship Between Language Skills and Acquisition Rate of Sight Words Among
English Language Learners, by Matthew K. Burns and Lori A. Helman, is about the study conducted
on English language learners (ELL). The study examined the sight word acquisition rate (AR) of 43
second grade students who were English language learners (ELL) from three diverse, urban schools.
The acquisition rate (AR) is the amount of information a child can successfully rehearse and later
recall (CITATION). The 43 secondgraders that were used for the study speak the language Hmong,
which is a Chinese dialect, and it is also their first language. Children that are ELL are a diverse group
of students that have some unmet academic needs (CITATION). One solution to this problem is to
improve the individualized instruction for ELL. Teachers should recognize the student s skill level and
match their skill level with the appropriate task. Meaning that teachers should not give the student
material that is too hard for them to comprehend. When given the right material, the students can
effectively learn what is needed. So, for the study researchers examined the effect of imagery level on
word reading. The researchers would present the ELL with 40 words at a time whether they knew
them or not. The cards containing the words were presented one at a time to each child in a clustered
random order (CITATION). If the child could not correctly identify at least eight of the words, then
words taken from the first list of words. If the child correctly identified all 40 words selected, then the
words selected from the third list of words were used. The presentation order of words taken from
each of the three word lists was randomly determined. Words were identified as known if the student
orally read the word correctly within 2 seconds. Any word not read correctly or requiring more than 2
seconds to read was considered unknown . After completing the research, the results show there is a
significant relationship between the level of English proficiency and the rate of acquisition of English
sight words (CITATION). Researchers also found that the imagery level of the word did not affect
how well the word was orally read, which

Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Freight brokers are the logistical key between shippers and carriers. Being a freight broker is a
rewarding, but challenging career. However, you need a lot of skills and knowledge in order to
become a successful transportation broker. Keep reading to learn why freight brokers need formal
training.
Freight Brokerage 101
According to Entrepreneur magazine, there are legal requirements for anyone who starts a brokerage
business. For example, all new freight brokers must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA). This involves filing forms, paying fees, designating legal agents and
getting a $75,000 bond or trust fund. In addition to this, a small business owner will need to obtain a
local business license and a state operating permit. A training program will help the freight broker
understand these complex legal requirements. Keep in mind that any mistakes on these permits could
result in legal problems down the road.
Second, freight brokers must have financial training and management skills. For example, the bond or
trust fund must be established as part of the permit process. The purpose of this is to prove that the
freight broker is responsible and that they have access to money in order to pay any claims. However,
freight brokers who don t understand finances will have a hard time convincing clients, the bonding
company and even their own bank that they are competent. Freight broker training will

Examples Of Observation On Preschool Observation
For my observations for this class I was given the option of which grade levels that I wanted to

the exception of one that I did in a Special Education class room that had all ages in one room. The
reason that I did this was simple, in the future my goal is to teach in preschool or kindergarten. I have
always wanted to work with the little ones that were just starting out in their education journey and the
joy they have as they master the simple things such as finally learning all their alphabet or the very
first time that they read a book. That joy is so wonderful to see and to get the opportunity to not only
be there to cheer them on, but to be the one sitting there that taught them those skills that they need for
the rest of their lives to succeed. I spent the majority of the hours in Kindergarten, I observed different
classes of children and also different activities and different teachers with the same kids. I wanted to
see how different the kids acted from their original teacher, to how they responded with the music, art
and gym teachers. Would they listen to all of them as well? Follow teachers directions like they do in
the classroom doing their reading groups, math lessons or even regular class work like calendar time.

Impulse Control In Romeo And Juliet Analysis
One might believe that fate or destiny is the crucial reasons behind the characters catastrophe.
However, it is actually the impulses and the inability to control it which results in the enormous
amount of tragedies in this play. In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William shakespeare; Romeo, Juliet
and Mercutio are pivotal characters who choose to make decisions on impulses. Haste combined with
the dearth of impulse management is the main reason of this play s several tragic events. If a number
of the characters gained the power to carry off their impulsive acts and ponder things through, there
would be a better chance that the deaths of lover, Juliet and others may have been avoided. This essay

Mercutio could have avoided this situation if he had showed respect in return. This comes to show how
mercutio had made impulsive decisions instead of making rational decisions. As a result, we can see
Mercutio s death occurs due to his rash and impulsive decisions. Mercutio s impulsive acts result in
his own passing. When Romeo refuses to participate in a duel with Tybalt, Mercutio challenges Tybalt
himself. Using words which are highly intimidating and threatening, Mercutio gives Tybalt no choice
but to engage in a duel. The following violent words are exchanged between the two characters.
TYBALT: Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast done me, therefore turn and draw.
ROMEO: I do protest I never injured thee, But love thee better than thou canst devise, Till thou shalt

to be separated on the other side of the slope. Jai fell on the snow in the Himalayas at close to 24,000
feet, and of the consequent 60 mile per hour ride down part of the side of the mountain losing nearly
3000 feet in altitude, and then a 24 hour trek through snow and ice apparently on a broken hip until he

The moral aspect of this story is that of the shepherd woman who selflessly took up the fate of another
individual as her personal responsibility. She realized that she had to help this stranger because she
had the ability to do so. The woman refused to leave a stranger (Jai) until his journey was secured and
then she refused Jai s offer of payment for her kindness and generosity. This deed was done based on
her obvious personal ethical values which proved to be moral.
The stakeholders are anyone who was affected by the decisions that were made, in this case Jai and his
companion were the extreme stake holders and consequently it trickled down to a shepherd woman
and eventually several others. Jai was affected most since all the decisions made affected him directly
throughout the story. The shepherd woman, the village officials, and the physician were also affected
and therefore can be considered stakeholders. The assumptions of Jai and his companion were that
since they were both healthy and experienced at climbing despite their youth, when the 1 p.m. turn
around time came, the decision to press on had been easy to make, which was to continue on since the
prospects of doing it another day held little appeal to both men. Their assumptions did affect the
problem above, since they should

The Prelude, By William Wordsworth
Mind and Imagination An elevated concentration to the way the mind works is without a doubt one of
the most significant attributes of Romantic poetry. In William Wordsworth s poem, The Prelude, the
poet allows several memories from his youth to be brought up again in his adulthood and looks to
grasp onto these certain influences that have assisted in establishing his mind and could potentially
help him become the best poet possible. John Keats described his idea of imagination to a friend in an
1877 letter: I am certain of nothing save the holiness of the heart s affections and the truth of the
imagination. What the imagination seizes as Beauty must be truth, whether it existed before or not.
The obsession that Keats had with the imaginative idea to escape from everyday life led him to write
The Fall of Hyperion. Both poets use cognitive interpretations as a way to express inner beliefs about
the human mind or imagination. Like mentioned in class, Wordsworth begins with his alienation
experiences in Prelude 1 and concludes with his adjustment statements in Prelude 11 and 13 and Keats
development within The Fall shows the start of a happy innocence into a rather painful maturity.
Like mentioned above, Wordsworth writes The Prelude as a tool in which to show exactly how
youthful memories are able to be turned into something very constructive in adulthood. The poem is
not only the record of those memories, but records, with great sensitivity, the very process

The Underground Man Analysis
The Underground Man s character and relationships in the novella The Underground Man, are quickly
ruined by his philosophical convictions. One of these convictions is that the only way to feel alive is to
feel pain and suffering, and the two choices in life are either lofty suffering or cheap happiness. The
Underground Man ruins relationships with Liza through believing that he will not be able to have true
happiness with her and instead, it will all be fake. This thinking is completely irrational and does not
allow him to achieve true happiness, as he does not choose to understand that that is a possibility in
life. The irrational thinking in the Underground Man s head, causes illogical actions when it comes to
emotions and situations that he is not used to. These situations all have negative repercussions that
further cause the Underground man to believe that his relationships and happiness are unattainable.
The Underground Man uses the belief that lofty suffering is the only way to feel alive, to justify his
poor actions and chooses in tricky situations. The Underground Man has finally found a girl who
attempts to understand and go through what he is going through, and yet he abuses this upper hand
that he has and bullies her. He claims that he cannot achieve love, and to him, love is the bullying and
suffering that gives him some form of happiness or feeling in life. After Liza has stormed out of the
room and is gone forever, The Underground Man poses a

The Pros And Cons Of Sugary Food
Sugar is a good ingredient for cooking, however, sugary foods can bring a lot of negative influences to
the human body, such as obesity, so this essay will introduce some knowledge about negative
externalities, government measures and the effects of excessive consumption of sugary foods.
Meanwhile, it will analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the imposition of tax and compare it to
alternative solutions.
Externality is a kind of market failure that all allocation of goods and services is not efficient.
Externalities is effects of activities on outside third parties, which is also called Spillover Effect . It
will occur when there is a difference between social costs or benefits and private costs or benefits.
Positive externality represents by benefits, so if social benefit is greater than private benefits, there
will be a positive externality. For instance, inoculation and education. In contrast, negative externality
represents by the costs, so if social costs are greater than private costs, there will be a negative
externality. For instance, pollution, traffic congestion and obesity. ... Show more content on

Regulation means that the government sets rules to make it more difficult for firms to produce, for
example, quantity restriction. If companies do not follow the regulation, they have to pay penalty.
Permits means that the government can set a maximum allowed amount, and then it will issue permits
to each firm. Firms can gain by reducing production or using cleaner methods to reduce pollution
because permits can be traded and firms cannot exceed permitted amount. Tax is also a good way to
remedy negative externalities. The government use tax to control the price, meanwhile to reduce the
consumption. In most cases, tax rates of those externalities should equal to the value of the externality.

Vulnerabilities Within The US Marine Transportation System...
The MTS consists of ocean, coastal, and inland waterways, ports, intermodal connections (connecting
points for changes in modes of transportation), vessels, and commercial, military, and recreational
users. The expected increase of commercial and recreational vessel traffic, continued ocean and inland
water research from vessels, and the operation of U.S. military vessel traffic will place burdens on
waterway and port safety and security services, and raise the risk of accidents (National Strategy for
the Marine Transportation System, 2008). Vessels face lots of vulnerabilities within the U.S MTS. For
instance, vessels that deliver cargos through the supply chain is vulnerable to penetration and
unauthorized access by criminal, terrorist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, natural deserters such as earthquake pose a big risk to the MTS and vessels within it. A
natural disaster is a sudden calamitous event that is the result of atmospheric and other geological
imbalances that threatens the viability of the organization and is characterized by creating chaos,
disruption of operations, confusion, and even death of employees (Morrison, et al 2014, p. 66). Each
year, natural disaster increase in number and magnitude, disrupt and damages lots of lives and
properties, and in some cases trigger migration; there were reports of 32 tornadoes in Kansas,
Colorado, and Texas, as at April 2012, together with major winter storms in mid Atlantic and Eastern
United States the same period of the year, which was attributed to the likely negative consequence
from climate change, poor land use, and disruptive atmospheric imbalances, resulting in severe
drought in some areas as well as widespread flooding in others (Wahlstrom 2012; Morrison, et al

Service design and development is very important for a bank like Jamuna that is our concern now.
From our observation we find out that they are far behind then other banking service providers. So in
this section they have to come up with new plans and findings.
If we are thinking about design new services for Jamuna Bank then we have to find out those sectors
where we are going to implement those programs. From our findings we come to know about they are
much behind in online banking, customer service, ATM system and infrastructure. So in this sectors
we need to work more to satisfy our second God, our customers.
According to Mr. Rakib Ur Rashid, First Executive officer of Jamuna Bank (Jurain SME Branch),

Latent Fingerprints Essay
The visualisation of latent fingerprints is enhanced by the adherence of enhancement materials to the
chemical constituents found in latent fingerprints. The most common enhancement techniques
employed to improve the visibility of latent fingerprints are fingerprint powder dusting, cyanoacrylate
fuming and ninhydrin [Lee Gaensslen 2001]. These methods are inexpensive, fast and efficient.
However, these techniques may affect the useful chemical characteristics and physical traces of
residual evidence which can be obtained from latent fingerprints.
Fingerprint powder is commonly used on non porous surfaces and on fixed surfaces which cannot be
taken to the laboratory (e.g. windows) [Champod Lennard 2004]. This fine powder is easy to apply
with the powder particles adhering instantaneously to the greasy and sticky substances in the latent
fingerprint deposit [Champod Lennard 2004]. However, this method is not sensitive and will only
adhere strongly to relatively fresh fingerprints. This is because as the fingerprint ages, the deposit
dehydrates and loses its adhesiveness [Champod Lennard 2004]. There are also limitations with the
application of dusting powders. Over dusting a fingerprint may cover finer details such as scars or
smudge the prints, making it difficult to identify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

groups of amino acids which are excreted from the eccrine glands resulting in a Ruhemann s purple
product [Saferstein 2011]. This chemical enhancement is nonspecific, thus it reacts with the different
amino acids that are present in a latent fingerprint deposit [Saferstein 2011]. Also, due to the stability
of amino acids in porous surfaces, very old latent fingerprints can be developed using ninhydrin

In official statistics 43% of all crimes and offences in Scotland are attributable to young people who are under 21 DTZ (2005). The reason crimes could be higher in youths can be seen in the sort of crimes they commit, for example vandalism, handling offensive weapons and house breaking. • 4. Stephen King s Insight On Dreams Stephen King s insight on dreams are all based on personal experiences. King begins by comparing the functionality of a dream to a mirror I ve always used dreams the way you d use a mirror to look at something you couldn t see head on . By using this idea of dreams being like mirrors, King is able to alleviate his writer s block by depicting his dreams directly onto paper. An example would be when King had already written seven to eight hundred pages of his novel which he could not seem to finish. Then later reveals how a nightmare provoked the ending, he states how he woke up frightened yet at the same time relieved he d finished the book. According to King all he had to do at this point was to take his dream and transfer it to paper. Without a doubt, King s personal experiences can justify why he believes dreams are a way that people s minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe even illustrates the answer to their problem in symbolic language . After reading Stephen King s essay, it is easy to conclude that his dreams are extremely valuable to his writing. King makes it clear that he has a consistent writing habit, but an unpredictable though process. King also believes that a strong writer can dream while awake. He illustrates many example where he uses dreams to create or finish a novel or film. This approach is random and unpredictable. An example of his approach would be when he was working on the Salems Lot. King explains how he relied on a nightmare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Discuss the Relationship Between Sexual Selection and... There are many theories that try to explain relationships between sexual selection and human reproductive behaviour. Evolutionary theory is one such theory. There are many different species in the world which, according to Darwin, all came from one source, e.g. a bacteria or organism. Within each species, natural variation occurs, therefore the individual beings within the specie look different from one another. These differences are caused by genetic makeup (50% from your mum, 50% from your dad). There are some genes like down syndrome that get switched on when combined with other genes. Some genes can also undergo mutation a random change (e.g. being born with six fingers, instead of five). Most mutations are harmful, for example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In another study, Langlois and Roggaman (1990) took photos of faces and morphed them together to produce composite images made up of 4, 8, 16 or 32 images. Participants rated faces as increasingly attractive the more faces that went into each image; this applied to both male and female faces. The more faces in an image, the more symmetrical they become, it seems that moving a facial image closer to the average increases its perceived attractiveness. It is likely that symmetry equates to fitness and good genes , these people are less likely to have been affected by harmful mutation. People with attractive faces are preferred because of the benefits of passing on these attractive characteristics to offspring. Little Hancock propose that humans have evolved to be attracted to symmetrical faces because they indicate averageness , which equates to genetic health. Grammar and Thornhill (1994) found that females are attracted to males with masculine characteristics, for example: large jaw and prominent cheekbones. These features arise as a result of testosterone, which is also a handicap because it suppresses the immune system. Therefore, showing only healthy individuals can afford to produce these traits advertising a strong immune system. Cartwright (2000) supported this, finding men prefer photographs of women with symmetrical faces and vice versa. Body to hip ratio are indicators of genetic fitness; they form universal physical ... Allowing an employee twelve days off instead of dividing up some days for vacation and some days for sick days, gives the employee the flexibility to use the days however the employee wants to use them. With that being said, the concept of paid time off may provide an employee more time to use as vacation days, which is a powerful tool that can benefit the employer because it would help in recruiting and retaining employees within the organization (Lopez, 2014). • 8. Neanderthal Essay Neanderthals were a species of archaic humans who migrated out of Africa and into Europe and Asia. However, around 40,000 years ago the large populations of Neanderthals died off and became extinct. The mysterious circumstances that surrounded their extinction drove various research teams to undertake the task of excavating numerous Neanderthal sites to collect fossilized bones, and artifacts in order to learn more about this group of ancestral humans. Over the past years, major technological advances have allowed researches to analyze the fossilized remains of the Neanderthals which led to major discoveries. For example, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology found that the ear ossicles of Neanderthals and modern humans had similar functions but differed in terms of structure. In the study, the researchers used high resolution computer tomography (CT) to scan numerous Neanderthal skulls from different sites in order to determine if there are ossicles present in the middle ear cavity (tympanic membrane). The scans revealed ossicles in fourteen different skulls which came as a surprise to the researchers since the bones of the ossicles are fragile and break down easily in the soil. The researchers then used microcomputed tomography scans and 3D geometric morphometrics in order to virtually reconstruct the bones of the ossicles which are composed of the malleus, incus and stapes. The 3D reconstructions of the ossicles allowed the scientists to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Character Analysis Of Creon In Antigone By Sophocles In the play Antigone, Creon s admirable personality, noble stature, and tragic flaw makes him one of the main tragic characters in this particular play. In the beginning, Sophocles reveals Creon as only a leader. He has legitimate reasons for all of his punishments. Creon s hubris by the end of the play has completely taken over him, in conclusion, this leads him to his death. Once Creon finally realizes the effect his hubris has on his problems, it is far too late. Creon lost his son, wife, his kingdom, and even his will to live. This is the journey of a tragic character. Creon insists that Polyneices...is to have no burial: no man is to touch him or say the least prayer for him; he shall lie on the plain, unburied ( Scene 1. Line 29.). Considering Creon is extremely stubborn, his ego keeps him from receiving any advice that anyone tries to tell him. My voice is the one voice giving orders in this city , says Creon. He is too prideful to listen to anyone because he believes it ll destroy his pride. Prophet Teiresias has an intimate discussion with him and he warns Creon a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong. The only crime is pride ( Scene 5. Line 35). Philippe once stated the intention of employing Driss in a conversation with his friend Antoine. Antoine originally suggests Philippe to fire Driss because he went to jail for robbery before. Illegal immigrants form the larger proportion of the immigrants into the United States. Policy analysts, government officials, as well as scholars have sought to ascertain the political, social, and economic impacts of the illegal immigrants (Hanson 11). Particularly, there has been raging debate regarding the economic impact of illegal immigration to the United States of America. It has become a matter of debate and study as it relates considerably to the nation s politics and economy. At the centre of this debate is the question of whether illegal immigrants are good or bad to the economy of the United States (Dudley 18). Various studies have shown that majority of the United States citizens think that illegal immigrants are bad for the nation s economy. However, there are those who believe that they are good for the economy. Several surveys show that there is consensus among many economists that both legal and illegal immigration is good for the economy as it provides cheap labor, gives net boost to the economy, reduce the cost of goods and services, and widens the market for goods and services (Kenney 23). This paper will discuss illegal immigration and its impact on the economy. Financial reports must be reported fairly and factually to ensure all parties receive reliable and unbiased information. A perfect example of this is the Principle of Prudence. If a department manager receives a report that understates previous expenses and exaggerates department revenues, the manager would not have a valid budget to work with. Not possessing a correct budget could affect wages, hiring, supply orders, decisions, and multiple other operational areas. This could lead to a lack of resources and poor decisions that ultimately reduce patient care objectives. In terms of revenue, multiple medical facilities rely heavily on government funding. To receive government funding, these facilities must adhere to outlined reporting practices. Facilities that fail to do so will lose a substantial amount of government revenue. In addition, fines may be imposed for compliance failures. Although the most significant downfalls of false reporting are false expectations and possible bankruptcy. The problems associated with landfills don t directly affect the people of the local area drastically, and people don t need to live differently because of it. The LCRMS purposely has a buffer zone and is in a sedentary area, so they aren t close to surrounding towns and counties. It s easy to pinpoint the cause of the problem in our local area. From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources: Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices. The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the banking industry. • 20. Great Wave Off Kanagawa Essay An art work has many elements and principles to it. These are known as elements and principles of design. The print The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has many elements and principles of design that show how much the artist used them in his work. The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai has all the elements of design. For example, one of the best aspects of the print is Hokusai s utilization of line to create both motion and space in the wave (NGA). The curves of the wave and body of one boat drop just low enough to allow the base of Mount Fuji to be visible, and the white top of the great wave creates a diagonal line that leads the viewer s eye directly to the peak of the mountain top (Harris). The dramatically curved, upwards line of the wave frames the mountain, whilst the jagged ends act as claws which almost personify the waves into a hunter grasping at its prey; the frail, delicate fishing boats seem to have no chance against the water (Ladkin). After conducting the interview, I have understood growth in MPM as increasing in employment and business sales/profit as well as involving in government projects within Malaysia. MPM has been growing sustainably for 28 years employing around 150 staff with the aim of growing 5 10% profit each year. Besides, strategic growth will be taken into account when competing with its competitors in its market industry in creating or selling new products when compared with their competitors. After implementing the theories in MPM, it helped me understand MPM s market analysis of rivalry among existing competitors. Applying Churchill and Lewis model in MPM, it can be said that it is in between Stage III: Success and Stage IV: Take off, as it has its own brand and have been sustained its business for over 25 years (Churchill and Lewis, 1983). Over the years, MPM has expanded to more branches of offices which shows that the company has attained economic health and has sufficient size to ensure economic success. After applying frameworks and theories, it can be stated that in terms of growth in a company, I have learnt that it can be applied and indicated differently in distinctive companies. To exemplify, growth can mean increase in staff employment in a company whereas it can also mean increase in production volume. However, it is clear that growth must be planned, organised, activated and controlled (Nieman and Pretorius, 2004). This play was selected as a participant in the National New Play Network s 2013 Master of Fine Arts workshop at Kennedy Center as well as read at Orlando Shakespeare Theater s 2013 festival of new plays, PlayFest. Playwright, Kelly Lusk recently completed his Master of Fine Arts degree in playwriting at Indiana University and has written many other plays including, Space, and king oedipus. As (a love story) is about people loving other to the best of their abilities, it is not your typical love story. (A love story) is narrated by three quite humorous characters that provide explanations and commentary on the situations the other characters have encountered in that moment. They also play supporting, anthropomorphic roles as plants and an ant. This trio acts as a Greek chorus, which is a small group of actors who comment, either by speaking or singing in unison, on the action of the play. There are two eras throughout history that talks about how humans used to survive when there wasn t anything to make a well constructed shelter, weapons or kitchen essentials to make food to eat. According to Garvin Lewis in the book WCIV Volume 1. Boston: Wadsworth, Cengage Learning, 2012, the Paleolithic era was the earliest and longest period of prehistory, when humans used simple stone stool (Lewis). The Neolithic era was the period of human history characterized by advances in stone stool making and the beginning of agriculture (Lewis). This essay is going to compare and contrast the people in Paleolithic era and Neolithic. The difference between the people in the Paleolithic and Neolithic era was the way they both obtain food, and how they both lived. The similarity that the people of the Paleolithic and Neolithic era had was that each gender obtained somewhat the same roles. Lastly, the way that art was used. In the Paleolithic era, people were foragers and gathers because they used to hunt wild animals and forage wild plants (Diamond). In this era, everyone was constantly looking for food since they didn t have no stored food and no concentrated food source (Diamond). In Khaled Hosseini s novel The Kite Runner, young Amir s admiration for his father Baba, coupled with the constant tension in their relationship obscures his mind from making clear decisions as he strives to obtain his father s love and approval. The initial occurrences in which Amir witnesses Baba s immediate affection for Hassan drive Amir s negative mental attitude and envy towards his only companion Hassan. This process is a basic technique used in alloy casting, growth of single phase semiconductors, welding and etc. We need to understand what s happening during solidification and how it affect the structure of final materials, which directly determines the properties of products. Besides, a proper set of solidification parameters also helps to improve energy efficiency. Principle of solidification process 1. Nucleation The whole process begins with the creation of a combination of atoms randomly, followed by stabilization of these tiny cores (homogeneous nucleation). Thermodynamics plays an important role because it determines if the liquid continues to solidify or remains in equilibrium. When the environment temperature is below the melting

Helman, is about the study conducted on English language learners (ELL). The study examined the sight word acquisition rate (AR) of 43 second grade students who were English language learners (ELL) from three diverse, urban schools. The acquisition rate (AR) is the amount of information a child can successfully rehearse and later recall (CITATION). The 43 secondgraders that were used for the study speak the language Hmong, which is a Chinese dialect, and it is also their first language. Children that are ELL are a diverse group of students that have some unmet academic needs (CITATION). One solution to this problem is to improve the individualized instruction for ELL. Teachers should recognize the student s skill level and match their skill level with the appropriate task. Meaning that teachers should not give the student material that is too hard for them to comprehend. When given the right material, the students can effectively learn what is needed. So, for the study researchers examined the effect of imagery level on word reading. The researchers would present the ELL with 40 words at a time whether they knew them or not. The cards containing the words were presented one at a time to each child in a clustered random order (CITATION). If the child could not correctly identify at least eight of the words, then words taken from the first list of words. If the child correctly identified all 40 words selected, then the words selected from the third list of words were used. The presentation order of words taken from each of the three word lists was randomly determined. Words were identified as known if the student orally read the word correctly within 2 seconds. Any word not read correctly or requiring more than 2 seconds to read was considered unknown . After completing the research, the results show there is a significant relationship between the level of English proficiency and the rate of acquisition of English sight words (CITATION). The shepherd woman, the village officials, and the physician were also affected and therefore can be considered stakeholders. The assumptions of Jai and his companion were that since they were both healthy and experienced at climbing despite their youth, when the 1 p.m. turn around time came, the decision to press on had been easy to make, which was to continue on since the prospects of doing it another day held little appeal to both men. Their assumptions did affect the problem above, since they should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Prelude, By William Wordsworth Mind and Imagination An elevated concentration to the way the mind works is without a doubt one of the most significant attributes of Romantic poetry. In William Wordsworth s poem, The Prelude, the poet allows several memories from his youth to be brought up again in his adulthood and looks to grasp onto these certain influences that have assisted in establishing his mind and could potentially help him become the best poet possible. John Keats described his idea of imagination to a friend in an 1877 letter: I am certain of nothing save the holiness of the heart s affections and the truth of the imagination. What the imagination seizes as Beauty must be truth, whether it existed before or not. The obsession that Keats had with the imaginative idea to escape from everyday life led him to write The Fall of Hyperion. Both poets use cognitive interpretations as a way to express inner beliefs about the human mind or imagination. Like mentioned in class, Wordsworth begins with his alienation experiences in Prelude 1 and concludes with his adjustment statements in Prelude 11 and 13 and Keats development within The Fall shows the start of a happy innocence into a rather painful maturity. Like mentioned above, Wordsworth writes The Prelude as a tool in which to show exactly how youthful memories are able to be turned into something very constructive in adulthood. The poem is not only the record of those memories, but records, with great sensitivity, the very process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Underground Man Analysis The Underground Man s character and relationships in the novella The Underground Man, are quickly ruined by his philosophical convictions. One of these convictions is that the only way to feel alive is to feel pain and suffering, and the two choices in life are either lofty suffering or cheap happiness. The Underground Man ruins relationships with Liza through believing that he will not be able to have true happiness with her and instead, it will all be fake. This thinking is completely irrational and does not allow him to achieve true happiness, as he does not choose to understand that that is a possibility in life. The irrational thinking in the Underground Man s head, causes illogical actions when it comes to emotions and situations that he is not used to. These situations all have negative repercussions that further cause the Underground man to believe that his relationships and happiness are unattainable. The Underground Man uses the belief that lofty suffering is the only way to feel alive, to justify his poor actions and chooses in tricky situations. The Underground Man has finally found a girl who attempts to understand and go through what he is going through, and yet he abuses this upper hand that he has and bullies her. He claims that he cannot achieve love, and to him, love is the bullying and suffering that gives him some form of happiness or feeling in life. After Liza has stormed out of the room and is gone forever, The Underground Man poses a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Pros And Cons Of Sugary Food Sugar is a good ingredient for cooking, however, sugary foods can bring a lot of negative influences to the human body, such as obesity, so this essay will introduce some knowledge about negative externalities, government measures and the effects of excessive consumption of sugary foods. Meanwhile, it will analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the imposition of tax and compare it to alternative solutions. Externality is a kind of market failure that all allocation of goods and services is not efficient. Externalities is effects of activities on outside third parties, which is also called Spillover Effect . It will occur when there is a difference between social costs or benefits and private costs or benefits. Positive externality represents by benefits, so if social benefit is greater than private benefits, there will be a positive externality. For instance, inoculation and education. In contrast, negative externality represents by the costs, so if social costs are greater than private costs, there will be a negative externality. For instance, pollution, traffic congestion and obesity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regulation means that the government sets rules to make it more difficult for firms to produce, for example, quantity restriction. If companies do not follow the regulation, they have to pay penalty. Permits means that the government can set a maximum allowed amount, and then it will issue permits to each firm. Firms can gain by reducing production or using cleaner methods to reduce pollution because permits can be traded and firms cannot exceed permitted amount. Tax is also a good way to remedy negative externalities. The government use tax to control the price, meanwhile to reduce the consumption. In most cases, tax rates of those externalities should equal to the value of the externality. (Alain Anderton., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Vulnerabilities Within The US Marine Transportation System... The MTS consists of ocean, coastal, and inland waterways, ports, intermodal connections (connecting points for changes in modes of transportation), vessels, and commercial, military, and recreational users. The expected increase of commercial and recreational vessel traffic, continued ocean and inland water research from vessels, and the operation of U.S. military vessel traffic will place burdens on waterway and port safety and security services, and raise the risk of accidents (National Strategy for the Marine Transportation System, 2008). Vessels face lots of vulnerabilities within the U.S MTS. For instance, vessels that deliver cargos through the supply chain is vulnerable to penetration and unauthorized access by criminal, terrorist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A natural disaster is a sudden calamitous event that is the result of atmospheric and other geological imbalances that threatens the viability of the organization and is characterized by creating chaos, disruption of operations, confusion, and even death of employees (Morrison, et al 2014, p. 66). Each year, natural disaster increase in number and magnitude, disrupt and damages lots of lives and properties, and in some cases trigger migration; there were reports of 32 tornadoes in Kansas, Colorado, and Texas, as at April 2012, together with major winter storms in mid Atlantic and Eastern United States the same period of the year, which was attributed to the likely negative consequence from climate change, poor land use, and disruptive atmospheric imbalances, resulting in severe drought in some areas as well as widespread flooding in others (Wahlstrom 2012; Morrison, et al ... • 46. Design New Services For Jamuna Bank Service design and development is very important for a bank like Jamuna that is our concern now. From our observation we find out that they are far behind then other banking service providers. So in this section they have to come up with new plans and findings. If we are thinking about design new services for Jamuna Bank then we have to find out those sectors where we are going to implement those programs. From our findings we come to know about they are much behind in online banking, customer service, ATM system and infrastructure. So in this sectors we need to work more to satisfy our second God, our customers. According to Mr. Rakib Ur Rashid, First Executive officer of Jamuna Bank (Jurain SME Branch), service development and design functions handle by the Research and development (R D) department; located in head office. Officials of R D department sit with the directors and president to design new service and schemes for the clients. Therefore the procedures are credential and not shareable towards the externals. So in the upcoming part I am going write my suggestions about service development and design Basically product design and development sector divided in two parts. They are planning section and implementation. In planning section we got new service strategy development then come idea generation, concept development evaluation and business. • 47. Latent Fingerprints Essay The visualisation of latent fingerprints is enhanced by the adherence of enhancement materials to the chemical constituents found in latent fingerprints. The most common enhancement techniques employed to improve the visibility of latent fingerprints are fingerprint powder dusting, cyanoacrylate fuming and ninhydrin [Lee Gaensslen 2001]. These methods are inexpensive, fast and efficient. However, these techniques may affect the useful chemical characteristics and physical traces of residual evidence which can be obtained from latent fingerprints. Fingerprint powder is commonly used on non porous surfaces and on fixed surfaces which cannot be taken to the laboratory (e.g. windows) [Champod Lennard 2004]. This fine powder is easy to apply with the powder particles adhering instantaneously to the greasy and sticky substances in the latent fingerprint deposit [Champod Lennard 2004]. However, this method is not sensitive and will only adhere strongly to relatively fresh fingerprints. This is because as the fingerprint ages, the deposit dehydrates and loses its adhesiveness [Champod Lennard 2004]. There are also limitations with the application of dusting powders. Over dusting a fingerprint may cover finer details such as scars or smudge the prints, making it difficult to identify ... This chemical enhancement is nonspecific, thus it reacts with the different amino acids that are present in a latent fingerprint deposit [Saferstein 2011]. Also, due to the stability of amino acids in porous surfaces, very old latent fingerprints can be developed using ninhydrin [Bowman ed. 2004; Saferstein ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
