2. Grapheme Color Syneesthesia Research Paper
Many tests, surveys, games, etc. use a stimulation where the person involved has to read a word,
a color, but the text is written in a color that is not the color written. Someone would have to
name the color the text is written in, opposed to reading the word, or identify when the color of
the text and the word match. For example, if the following was displayed on the screen: green, a
person would have to say red because that is what the text is written in, or identify that the color
and the word do not match. Everyone associates the name of a color with that color. But for people
with grapheme color synesthesia, it word association goes beyond this. People with grapheme color

The Zika Virus When people think of the word epidemic , they generally imagine a widespread
disease that threatens humanity as a whole. While most of the hysteria associated with
pandemics stem purely from fiction, it can be understandable why people always fear the worst.
That is why when an outbreak of the Zika Virus was reported in the United States, an overall
feeling of malaise set in. As of September 21, 2016, a total of 3,358 cases of the Zika Virus have
been reported ( Center for Disease Control and Prevention ). Though the numbers are alarming,
there is no need for a national quarantine or emergency evacuation. In reality, the Zika Virus is not

As of now, there is no official vaccine for Zika. Instead, a patient that has the contagion must
undergo certain treatments. Fortunately, the remedies for the virus are simple and cheap. If
infection occurs, it is vital to get an abundance of rest and liquids; medication is also advised to
assist in alleviating pain. The treatments for Zika are straightforward because the disease itself is
rather mild. In fact, in most reported cases of the virus in the United States, the illness only lasted
approximately two to seven days prior to the first set of symptoms ( World Health Organization ).
It is evident that the fear associated with the Zika Virus is slightly exaggerated. Currently, there is
only one recorded fatality in the United States that is directly related to Zika ( The Washington
Post ). This is mainly because first world countries medical programs are advanced enough to
effectively treat the virus. The standard of living in these countries are also higher compared to
third world countries. That is why Zika has claimed a significant amount of lives worldwide; the
poor conditions in these countries make it difficult for infected individuals to get proper

This essay will seek to explore the link between Human resource management and business
performance. To be successful in this, a number of resources will be used. To get a sound basis,
definitions of HRM and performance will first be made. Once definitions have been made, the
essay can then explore the link. High performance work practices (HPWP) will be the main
theory examined in this essay and others will be used to be able to provide a critical view. The

6. A Complex Adaptive System ( Cas )
Organizations and businesses are now seen as a function of increased specialization. Technology
has become the order of the day where more and more businesses are heading towards that direction
to have a competitive edge within the industry they best identify with. In light of this, conflicts are
sometimes very challenging to comprehend, and theorists have also questioned the nature of the
whole system to which all these complicating factors contribute. Many experts and scholars have
argued that all these developments are characterized by a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). Most
organizations are engulfed in planning activities such as formalized planning sessions that are of a
strategic nature by design and to do this; business leaders tend to look for business intelligence,
knowledge managementand other methods that will enable them to have active planning sessions
in real time to match the ever growing system. What then is Complex Adaptive System? To best
define CAS, we need to understand what a system is. A system is defined as an assembly of
elements hooked together to produce a whole in which the attributes of the elements contribute to a
behavior of the whole ( Complex Adaptive Systems, n.d.). Examples of systems include the human
body, galaxies, ecosystems, airplanes and computers. CAS is the study of natural systems and how
they interact, adapt, and survive over time (Evans, 2015). By this definition, it is fair to say that
organizations cannot ignore the

10. Analysis Of Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a poem written by Robert Frost, which, on the
surface, appears to be a simple poem about a traveler on the darkest night of the year, who stops
to observe a forest in the middle of a winter storm. In reality, one can interpret a much deeper
meaning from this poem. This poem could be understood to be about facing one s responsibilities
and fears in order to make the most of life before death. The speaker in this poem is contemplating
between choosing to die or to face the obstacles of life. Through the use of literary devices such as
alliteration, rhythm, and imagery, Frost stresses the importance of coming to terms with facing
fears and dealing with responsibilities. Robert Frostuses alliteration in the poem to emphasize the
key elements of his sentences. With his use of alliteration, every line has a different connotation
associated with different emotions that the speaker may feel. At the start of the poem, Frost s
words flow smoothly, which emphasizes the absentmindedness of the speaker as they stand
before the forest. Although, when Frost writes gives his harness bells a shake / to ask if there is
some mistake (Frost, 9), he employs the harsh use of the letter k as a reminder of the speaker s
responsibilities. The switch between the uses of flowing, smooth words to the use of alliteration
of the letter k serves as a method to show the reader that the speaker has had a sudden realization
about the demands of the real world. The use of softer sounding consonants has also been
incorporated in order to set the scene for the reader. The speaker is trekking in a winter stormand
stops to observe nature, which is shown through the repetitive use of the consonant s as well as w ,
which are letters that sound like the wind in a storm. For instance, when Frost writes, The only
other sound s the sweep (Frost, 11), the soft sounding letters reminds the reader of a winter storm
which serves as a way for the reader to emerge themselves into the poem and to feel as though, they
too, are in a snowstorm. By allowing the reader to imagine the scenery in the storm, it puts into
perspective the difficulty the speaker must have been having between choosing to give

INTRODUCTION:
Family therapy is a psychotherapeutic treatment of the family to bring about better psychological
functioning. It is a highly flexible psychotherapeutic approach applicable to a wide range of child
focused and adult focused problems. Family therapy has been viewed as a powerful, fast and
effective method of achieving change within the family (Poin¬ton, 2006).
Definition of family therapy: Gurman, Kniskern, and Pinsof (1986) defined family therapy as any
psychotherapeutic endeavor that explicitly focuses on altering the interactions between or among
family members; and seeks to improve the functioning of the family as a unit, or its subsystems,
and/or the functioning of individual members of the family .
Sholevar (2003) defines family therapy as any use of a family focused intervention to bring out
behavioral and/or atti¬tudinal changes in one or more family members.
Adult: The word adult derived from the adults which means grown to full size and strength or
matured. Adults are the individuals who are completed their growth and are ready to assume their

is a scene where two men, Vincent and Jules, sit in a car having small talk about food in Europe.
Parts of their conversation, however, contain some very resonant discussions of food, place, and

Today, however, it has become so much more. According to a research paper written by Martin
Lindstrom, Branding is all about building emotional ties between consumer and product. (pg.
85) Emotional connections are made with the synergy of all five senses, and such those brands
that are communicating from a multi sensory brand platform have the greatest likelihood of
forming emotional connections between consumers and their product. (pg. 84); Food and
Beverage companies exploit this fact to sell their products. Consider the Kellogg s breakfast
cereal that goes snap, crackle, and pop: Rice Crispies. Researchers at a specialized Danish
laboratories worked to create the particular sound and feel of the crunch was identifiably
Kellogg s. (pg. 85). The crunch, smell, and taste, of the cereal is accompanied by the tactile feel
in your mouth pairing all five senses into one bite. Without the simultaneous stimulation of
multiple sensory receptors, however, the cereal would not be as memorable. Take watching a
scary movie for example. Visuals paired with audio make for a very scary movie, but if you turn
the audio off, suddenly the movie isn t so scary anymore. What we have learned from Kellogg s
is that their success lies in mastering the synergy of all five senses. Food can stimulate all five

Career Episode 3
Introduction
CE 3.1
In this report I want to explain about my major project part 2 which was done during the tenure of
bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Chronology : 2012
Geographical location : India
Organization Name : College Name
Project Name : Full Wave Rectifier Circuit
Title of Position : Team Leader
Background
CE 3.2
In my previous project on developing of voltage multiplier, I had used the rectifier for enhancing
the voltage at the output but in the end, I had obtained lower current relatively. At that instant, I
was researching many rectifiers from half wave to full wave and with the help of my project guide;
I had finally made a call to develop a full wave rectifier circuit.
Abstract
CE 3.2.1
Right from the start of my academic career, I was interested in the area of rectification and how
the rectification is done in lower powered circuits and high powered circuits but most of times I
had used the capacitors over the load resistance for lowering the current ripples as they were
sufficient and rarely used the rectifiers in the high powered circuits. During lab sessions, when we
are required some smooth, steady or stable and uninterruptable DC power supply, I had used the
Full Wave Rectifier as Half Wave Rectifier only supports for one half of the input voltage. Initially,

This concept paper will discuss the different aspects of fluid and electrolytes as they relate to the

be discussed along with percentages contained in each compartment and how they are transported

Tonicity is used to determine which of the three types each fluid would fall under and is
essentially the change that occurs to the cell size because of the amount of water pushed into or
pulled out of the cell by each type of fluid. Isotonic fluids, such as 0.9% saline, whole blood, packed
RBC s, and lactated ringers, neither swell or shrink a cell because their osmolality or pressure
equals ICF. Hypotonic solutions, such as 0.25% saline, D5/0.25% saline, and 0.45% saline, cause
the cells to swell because the osmolality is lower in the hypotonic solution than ICF meaning there
is a less dense concentration of particle within the solution so the water molecules move to the
particles within the cell. Hypertonic solutions, such as D5/0.9% saline, D5/0.45% saline, D5
/lactated ringers and 3% saline, cause the cell to shrink because they have a higher osmolality than
ICF which means they pull the water out of the cell due to the dense particle concentration of the
solution. D5W solutions are unique in that they are isotonic when they are outside the body but
become hypotonic when they are introduced into the body. Within these compositions there are two
more solutions types known as crystalloid and colloid. Crystalloid solutions typically have a
balanced electrolyte composition and expand total extracellular fluid volume (Shields, 2015), some
examples are 0.9% saline and lactated ringers. Colloid solutions exert osmotic pressure which pulls
water into the ECF to help expand volume, some examples of this are albumin and

Truman left his paradise, Seahaven, after learning the truth of his life. However, unlike God,
Cristof wanted Truman to stay in Seahaven because it s the way the world should be. The ending
of the film had left the minds of the audience in a state of confusion and mixed emotions. Cristof
urges Truman to stay, telling him: Truman, there s no more truth out there than in the world I
created for you the same lies and deceit. But in my world you have nothing to fear. The audience
are torn between supporting Truman in his long awaited new life or wishing him to stay in
Seahaven were they can watch him and be part of his life. Truman s answer had also likened him
to being the second Adam to being Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself and is ressurected to a
new life as Truman sacrificed his seemingly perfect world where his life is controlled for the sick
place where he has freedom. Symbolism was used to show the audience how courageous and heroic
Truman is.
In conclusion, Weir used dialogue, movement of actors, props and symbolism to develop the
character, truman Burbank. In all of the characters in the film, only Truman showed a change in
character. He was always wishing to get out of Seahaven, yearning for an adventure and a new life.
But he never did anything to do it; he let his fears and uncertainty to get the best of him. He chose

Agricola, one the greatest commanders who ruled over Britain. Being his son in law, Tacitus uses
his personal experience and the stories that Agricola had told him portraying his rise to leadership in
Britain. Although knowing little about leadership and war, Tacitushad the best account of Agricola

24. The Development Of English Literature In The Middle Ages
The middle ages refer to the time span approximately from the collapse of the Roman Empire to the
Renaissance. English literature in the Middle Ages, covering works of more than eight hundred
years from Caedmon s Hymn(ca.658 80) to Everyman (ca.1510), evolved with the development of
English language. In accordance of language development and historical watersheds, literature
history consists of three periods: Anglo Saxon England, Anglo Norman England and Middle
English literature in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Literary works in the Middles Ages all
rooted in the Christian culture given that the introduction of Christianity is the most significant
event in the cultural history of this period.
Literary works in the time of Anglo Saxon England were composed in old English, a language that
is extremely difficult to be understood, which leads to the consequence that literacy was restricted
to religious personnel. As a matter of course, Old English literature is mostly influenced by
Christianity and Latin Civilization. And as The Norton Anthology points out that in form and

28. An Essay About Baba Yaga
I will say that I was quite surprised to find Baba Yaga on the list of the deities. It s not that I don t
like her, but I always thought, ever since I was a very young child, that she was a fairytale
character and a very scary one, to be sure! I remember, when I was reading ancient Russian tales,
the depiction of a horrid woman with a bent nose, the most terrifying house and a screech to take
away the courage of the bravest person who had ever roamed the Earth. So, finding out that Baba
Yagawas not a fairytale character, but a Goddess, made me feel both cheated and elated. Cheated,
because I don t like having someone like a Goddess transformed into just a fairytale (although I
believe that fairytales are wise). And elated, for I always... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those three children were also representative of her own nature: she is capable of giving, with
care, existence to Light, something that might seem strange, from one who seems to have
nothing in her but harshness. This, however, makes it evident that she is a Crone Goddess, and
that it is because of this that the passage to the stage of Life (with all that it has within) is
possible. Some sources even say that she keeps the waters of life and death . I think this might
be true, for Baba Yaga is always making sure that we die and that we relive: she sees that we let
behind those things that are dragging us down or that are giving us pain and then lets us drink
the water we need, she gives us what we actually needed to grow up and to go on with our lives.
She also had around her some invisible servants, who did the housework that she didn t feel like
doing and who made her biding. Some say that these servants are representative of the elementals
and of her rule over them. It might be so, as it was also said that she controlled everything around

The beginning of the book of The Gospel According to Matthew , describes the first early stages of
Jesus and his ancestry s. Jesus is the child of Mary and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born with a
mission. The mission of baby Jesus as he grew older was to save his people from their sins. Once
he was born, King Herod had heard a rumor that baby Jesuswould be the king of the Jewish people.
Baby Jesus s existence frightened King Herod. As Jesus grew older the more enemies he
accumulated and there were more people that were frightened by his power. Many readers believe
that the more powerful Jesus was, the more arrogant he was. However, there is a possibility that
Jesus was compassionate and humble towards his people. There are many artists that show how

relates how Jesus is compassionate about his people. In the painting you see how Jesus is
curing a blind man. You could tell that Jesus is humble by the way he is dressed. You could also
see that the people love him by the way they are looking at him. The old man in the right side of
the Jesus looks like he is praying. The blind man is also holding Jesus s arm. This also shows that
Jesus is humble because he lets anybody of any social class touch him. This paining also relates to
a scene that takes place in the book. Matthew said,
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, crying loudly, Have mercy on us, son
of David! when he entered the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, Do you

30. Malcolm X Continuity
Lee and Haley s last defect in presenting the autobiography of Malcolm X is their presentation of
his views after his trip to Mecca and before his death. In order to understand this misrepresentation
the context surrounding Malcolm s life is important. In April of 1964 Malcolm made a trip to
Mecca and then Africa, UK, and France. On this trip, Malcolm s views towards black rights
continue to morph. Upon returning to the United States, Malcolm continues to give speeches
presenting his somewhat altered visions. Also upon his return, Malcolm begins to receive death
threats from members of the Nation of Islam. Malcolm is then assassinated on February 19, 1965.

Malcolm s beliefs appear to make a very small shift from the beginning of his popularity to the end
of his life. However, this does not mean that the changes that Malcolm does make do not hold
significance, but it is important to emphasize the continuity in Malcolm s philosophy despite these
transformations. Next, interestingly, Manning Marable argues that Malcolm s philosophies stem
from his childhood and remain almost completely consistent through his entire life. But what I find
in my own research is greater continuity than discontinuity. What I see in Malcolm is that his
father Earl Little and Louise Little were committed Garveyites, advocates of black nationalism and
Pan Africanism in Garvey s Universal Negro Improvement Association, joined in the 19 teens and
20s; that Earl Little was the leader of the UNIA chapter branch in Omaha, Nebraska, then in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in East Chicago, Indiana, and then finally in Lansing in Detroit, Michigan;
that there was a long legacy and a foundation of Malcolm s evolving politics . It is difficult to
confirm the continuity of Malcolm s beliefs before his speeches, interviews, and conversation were
recorded and presented towards the public. However, the autobiography and Malcolm s family
members confirmed the idea that Malcolm was exposed to black nationalist politics early in his life
by his mother and father. Despite the unknown about Malcolm s beliefs during his upbringing and
young adulthood, Lee paints a much more straightforward picture than reality. Lee presenting
Malcolm in this fashion allows him to shatter the myth about Malcolm typically held outside of
black communities. Presenting him as having the potential of becoming an integrationist easily
dismantles the idea that Malcolm was anti white. However, his actual position towards the struggles
of African Americans in the

31. Sir Thomas Mun s Theory Of Mercantilism
Sir Thomas Mun (1571 1641), a famous economic thinker from the sixteenth century, was most
closely associated with the idea of Mercantilism. This school of thought mainly focused on
international trade and the balance of trade through acquisition of silver and gold. Thomas Mun
achieved many accomplishments in his 70 years of life; most notably, his role as the Director of the
East India Company, publishing books and pamphlets on his theory of mercantilism, molding
England s trade policies to maximize the nation s wealth, and further setting a precedent for
international tradethat many countries thereafter followed. When Thomas Mun first introduced
his idea of foreign trade, it was during a time of an economic downfall in England. Many people
believed that the East India Company was to blame because they had financed their trade by
exporting a large amount of bullion in order to purchase spices (Walter,1). When accusations arose
of his company being at fault for the trade imbalance in England, Mun s defense strategy involved
informing the citizens of the country about the benefits of international trade to increase England s
wealth. Mun wrote a pamphlet, A Discourse of Trade, from England unto the East Indies, to
explain why his company had chosen to be a participant of trade. Mun explained that if the
company had chosen to deter from the trading of bullion for spices, England would have actually
been at more of disadvantage economically. The reason for this, is that

whether it is business or house repair work, they need financial help to get these needs
accomplished. Many people either somehow manage with the deficits or look for some

hesitate to go for those options. There are various government grants available for different
needs and those who are aware of this opportunity, they apply and try to get it. It is not easy to
get the government grant money and you need lot of preparation and make sure your timing is

basis so as soon as you find that the grants suitable for your needs are available, you should apply

organizations also which people can make use of. Free government grants loans are of great help

41. A Single, Comprehensive Solution For Environmental Challenges
A single, comprehensive solution to environmental challenges does not exist. The subject matter of
the environment is interdisciplinary and entails diverse sets of strategies and solutions. Historically,
collective action solutions have focused on conventional governmental regulations or privatization.
It operates under the assumption that under the established apparatus of government and private
institutions, individuals could join cooperative efforts and contribute to the cause. Hardin argued
for the centralized administration of resources by governmental agencies or the privatization of the
commons and allow the private enterprise to manage the common as it sees fit (Hardin 1968).
Nobel prizing winning economist, Elinor Ostrom disputed such claims, asserting that governments
have large agendas and cannot consider local environmental problems and some resources such as
water and air cannot be privatized. Ostrom insists that the state or the market cannot be successful
in ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources (Ostrom 1990). According to Ostrom and her
research, an alternative approach to the problem of the commons is community mobilization, or
polycentric governance. The alternative approach is characterized by multiple cooperative
independent institutions organized and governed under a general system of rules. The citizens and
officials of the community all come together to jointly chart the priorities and management of their
