This document discusses the design and development of passive magnetic bearings (PMBs) which feature non-contact and low friction operations, beneficial for various applications. It presents a methodology using a 3D Coulombian model to estimate the load carrying capacity of PMBs with square magnets in an aluminum stator, aiming to reduce costs and improve durability. A case study demonstrates the relationship between magnet configurations and load capacity, revealing that increasing the number of magnets does not lead to proportional increases in load capacity.
