2. Technical Textile:
Technical Textiles is defined as, ‘Textile material
and products manufactured primarily for
their technical and performance properties
rather than their decorative properties/
characteristics.’

3. BUILDTECH :
BUILDTECH = BUILD +TECH
Any textile material i.e. fibers, yarn,
rope, fabrics which knowingly
manufactured for building purpose is
called as build tech.

4. Historic Evolution of Buildtech:
Nest structure: Invented in primitive society about
1.7 million years ago to around 21st century BC. The
nest structure is the source of the soil–wood structure.
Wooden frame structure: Invented in slave society
around 21st century BC to around 2nd century BC.
Wooden beam structure: Invented in feudal society
around 2nd century BC to late 18th century.

5. Historic Evolution of Buildtech:
Brick (stone)–wood mixed structure: After the
Opium War in 1840 it is invented in china.
Steel structure or reinforced concrete structure: It
is invented During the Republic of China (1912–
1949).
Precast reinforced concrete structure: New China
was founded in 1949. Due to political and economic
factors, the government directly drew on Soviet
building technology experience. 5

Cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure: It is
invented in 1978 in china.
New structural form: Since 2000, in the era of
technological innovation, the building structure has created
a lot of forms, such as grid structure, thin shell structure,
suspension structure and aerated structure to satisfy super
high-rise buildings, large-span buildings and super-large-
scale buildings.

Because of the so many good properties, technical
textiles can be used at these areas;
Concrete reinforcement
Facade foundation systems
Interior constructions
Insulations
 Proofing materials
 Visual protection
Protection against the sun

Textile membranes for roof construction
Hoardings and signages
Scaffolding nets

9. Fibers used in Buildtech:
High-tenacity polyester is used when need high strength.
Glass fiber is used for fire-retardant applications
Nylon is used for membranes
Polyethylene and polypropylene is used for ropes, nets
and other similar applications
Hemp fibers is used as reinforcement for building
materials
HDPE(high density polyetylen) is used when really high
resistance wanted
Hollow fibers is used for achieve heat and sound isolation9
