Going For The Look
Kailey Jimenez English IV Mrs. Gilbert, Per 3 10 January, 2017 Going for the Look A considerable
problem in today society is discrimination. Whether it s based upon race, age, sexuality, or even looks,
discrimination is a serious dilemma. Marshal Cohen, a senior industry analyst with the NPD Group,
believes that hiring people who are walking billboards is critical and essential to a company s success.
The companies who hire based on looks, fail to realize that there are shoppers who do not care about
the appearance of the store employees, just as long as they are receiving good customer service.
People cannot completely control their appearance and brands like Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister,
and American Apparel should take notice to that. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s really important to create an environment that s enticing to the community, particularly with the
younger, fashionable market. Cohen may be right when he says that it is important to create an
enticing environment, however some people believe that the way he is going about this is wrong. It is
possible to create an enticing environment with friendly people who don t have outstanding looks.
Today s society has shown that people aspire to be gorgeous and idolize the beautiful, but they relate
more to people who look just like them. If someone were to walk into Hollister and see someone who
looks like them rocking an outfit that they typically wouldn t wear, they are more likely to be inspired
to try out the stores products. Stephen J. Roppolo, a New Orleans lawyer, tells employers that their
focus needs to be hiring people who can get the job done because when companies want to hire to
project a certain image, things can get screwy. I have seen some first hand examples of questionable
hiring methods. Many of the stores in the mall near my home are excellent examples of hiring based
on appearance over caliber. In numerous stores, I have noticed that the employees who work towards
the front of the stores are usually Caucasian and outstandingly beautiful, and the employees towards
the back of the stores tend to be of more latin descent. I have had multiple friends

Parliament Vs Executive
Arguments for the successful parliament checks over the executive:
Parliament Ultimately holds a sovereign power over the Executive to create law. Any law created by
parliament reigns supreme over all including the functions and laws presiding over the Executive.
(provided in the Constitution act 1981). Parliament makes, enforces and adjudicates on its own
grounds of procedure, not under the Parliament s rule of law applies to the Executive. The concept of
the rule of law is created by parliament and restricts the action of policy formation. One of the key
concepts that affect the Executive is that the government must exercise its power according to the law.
Broadly, the law and policy must be easily accessed and open to the public. If a member of the
Executive has breached the law or committed a crime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cabinet, defined as the head of the Executive is sometimes split to form Cabinet committees for issues
too broad to discuss on the weekly meeting. When deciding on the formation of cabinet and cabinet
committees, the prime minister as the head of cabinet may stack like minded ministers to sway the
discussions. Essentially Cabinet committees become much easier to manipulate than control over
Cabinet itself, and the PM (body from Exec) is able to guide power over cabinet without interference
of parliament.
Parliament in some cases can give away the power through delegated legislation responsibilities. Here,
we can see a flaw in the separation of powers system as parliament gives away their sovereign power
to another body. (usually the Executive) . Parliament acts as an ineffective check on Executive power
as they transfer power to the already powerful Executive. This compromises the Doctrine of the
separation of powers, this gives the ability to create law to the Executive. Perhaps as a flaw in the
system, the process of handing on a delegated legislation is very

Heterosexist Discrimination In America
Americans live in a society that seems constantly plagued by various types of discrimination. For
instance, ableism, classism, and sizeism are a few examples of the sorts of systematic discriminations
that Americans face every day. However, as of late, one of the most prevalent forms that targets
homosexual minorities is Heterosexist discrimination. Heterosexism is defined as the discrimination
or prejudice against homosexuals ( Heterosexism ). In addition to being prejudiced and discriminatory,
Heterosexism is more often than not paired with the idea that heterosexuality is the normal sexual
orientation, and therefore superior. For the past couple of years, America has attempted to mend the
issues in our society that kept homosexual people

Trial Lawyer Research Paper
Sometimes, life just does not go as smoothly as planned. You hit a lot of bumps along the way. The
minor bumps are fine. These things only serve to delay you. It s the major ones that you need to watch
out for. When you need a lawyer, by your side, you have to make sure that you get the best. Just think
about this: you have a case filed in the court, and if you don t play your cards right, you could just end
up losing everything you ve worked so hard for. Hence, it s not the time to be complacent. You need to
be wiser now by having someone who knows the ins and outs of the law by your side. Trial lawyers

Many of the trial attorneys that will give you the best service will usually have their services
advertised either on radio, TV, in the newspapers, in magazines or wherever advertising is usually
done in your local community. When you come across an attorney willing to take on your case, you
will need to look out for certain things that will help you to know how able they are to handle your
case. First of all, all trial attorneys who are allowed to operate by the authorities have got some
licensing, they should have a good track record, and they should be more than willing to help you.
Some of these professionals are selective in the cases they are willing to take on, but in most cases,
they will take on your case no matter what it is. The charges and rates of these trial attorneys are
usually not fixed therefore they are up for bargaining which means that once you need one such

Text : Hamlet (2009) directed by Gregory Doran, starring David Tennant
Context : The following CCR is written in the form of a blog made ten years after the production of
the movie Hamlet from the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is written from the perspective of Gregory
Doran s daughter who is eighteen years old and studies English Literature in school. She stumbled
upon one of her father s works one day, which is Hamlet. She shared this information with her lecturer
and her lecturer asked her to make a review of the movie on the blog to encourage her friends to take

I think my dad made a very fitting choice by choosing that attire. Some said that my father directed
the movie in a way that made it accessible to the younger generation,[2] probably because it removes
the Shakespearean stereotype of medieval clothing such as the doublet. Also, the delivery of Hamlet
was comical which appeals to the younger generation because it gives relief from Shakespearean
solemnity. My father did an exemplary job in extracting an authentic yet profoundly discerning
performance from his actors. David Tennant, known to many as Doctor Who, gives us a Hamlet who
is brashly mad but penetrates our hearts with sorrow for his tragedy although some argue that his
ludicrousness makes his acting less genuine.[3] Patrick Stewart, on the other hand, gives a stellar
performance as King Claudius, making him shrewdly righteous and steadfast, allowing room for King
Claudius to scrupulously execute his malignancy. One outstanding aspect of this movie is the use of
mirrors and reflections which proves a challenge for my dad because there s a risk of accidently
filming the crew but he prevailed in the end, giving more brooding atmospheres during soliloquys. It
also acts as a symbol of reflection of characters true nature. There s a part where the mirror in Queen

In the amendments there are four that protect people who have been accused for a crime or arrested

the process should go and how the arrested person is to go through it. In the amendment they even say

Industrialization After the Civil War Thesis and Outline...
Assignment 1.1: Industrialization after the Civil War Thesis and Outline Amiah Mone Parker The
Industrial Revolution was of great importance to the economic development of the United States. The
new era of mass production kindled in the United States because of technological innovations, a patent
system, new forms of factory corporations, a huge supply of natural resources, and foreign investment.
The growth of large scale industry in America had countless positive results, but also negative results
as well. Industrialization after the Civil War affected the United States in several ways including
poverty, poor labor laws, and the condition of the people. Between 1865 and 1920, Industrialization

Second, the development of new public transit systems, was important in shaping the design of our
cities and the growth of our cities by enabling people to move further away from the inner city. Early
on, large cities didn t really have public transportation. Their main source of transportation were horse
drawn wagons and walking. In conclusion, most people lived near on in the downtown area, where
most of the working establishments were located. Because of this, it made big cites crowed and
congested. With the breakthrough of the el , electric streetcars, and subways, around 1867, cities
began expand more. Those who were fortunate enough to move out of the dirty cities and into better
neighborhoods surrounded outside the city, did so. The new transit systems in most cities allowed
people to escape the chaos of urban life and provided potential for growth of our cities. The second
major innovation is the telephone because it opened up doors for everybody. The telephone allowed
them to be connected to other parts of the world, or their loved ones did not live in the same city. It
permitted them to stay connected to relatives and have audio conversations without the inconvenience
of letters which took a while to arrive by post. It produced better business for the small to larger

Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and
aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation
because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more
analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring
forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display
of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the
constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a
nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres.
Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it.
They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get
ammunition to put it down.
Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were
exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they
actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. The
study, conducted by honours student Leah Sharman and psychologist Genevieve Dingle and published
in the June 26, 2015 edition of Science Alert by writer Peter Dockrill , took 39

Lowering your vocal range will increase your flexibility.

Extending the low range of your singing voice will improve your tone production and ability to hit
high notes. By extending your range, the vocal cords expand and become more flexible. This makes it
possible to extend your reach both high and low. Care should be taken to avoid extending the range
too quickly. Daily practice is the key to slowly developing your voice to hit the low notes when

you have found it, locate the same pitch on the piano. Then sing on whole notes a major scale

The Decline Of Teen Pregnancy Rates

The Decline In Teen Pregnancy Rates Over the last few decades the rates in teen pregnancy have been
a debate; did they rise over the past few years or did they actually decline? Contrary to some doctors
and politicians the numbers associated with teen pregnancy have decline over the last couple of years.
Although there are still people out there who believe this to be an issue it s made more of an issue than
it actually is. The ads and commercials are set out to scare teen agers into believing that were at an all
time high for this issue, but realistically its actually the exact opposite. Teen pregnancy rates haven t
dropped on there over the course of the years. There are a few major factors that have contributed a
great deal to this change. Those changes include but are not limited to: more resources being available
to these teenagers to prevent themselves from becoming pregnant, society is more open to talking
about this issue as well as the religion and culture change aspect of families today. Despite the beliefs
of others, teen pregnancy rates are at an all time low for the first time in decades. In fact there are a
few things that impacted the decline in teen pregnancy, one of which was the society has opened up to
this topic of conversation. It s not something that s kept behind closed door like it use to be. Talking
about sexual education in local school systems was a big impact on declining

Familial Relationships in The Veldt by Ray Bradbury
As young children grow up, their attitudes dramatically transform. They change from loving their
parents to disliking them, which is a universal process. When technology adversely affects their
lifestyle, this universal process accelerates. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer and a known opponent
of Silicon Valley, has published books in order to enlighten the world on the inadequacies of
technology. Bradbury says, People are walking around the streets with phones to their heads talking to
someone ten feet away. We ve killed two million people with automobiles. We re surrounded by

For example, Peter says to George, I wish you were dead (Bradbury). Compared to the onset of the
story where Peter acted courteously toward his parents by informing them he would not arrive for
dinner, now, Peter wishes for the demise of his father. The nursery assumes the central role in
foreshadowing the climax of The Veldt where Peter and Wendy murder George and Lydia. In the story,
Bradbury compares the hot sun to the lions paws (Bradbury). Kattelman refers to this simile, which
foreshadows the parents deaths and heightens the imagery: Not only does it heighten the description of
George s sensation by making the sun s heat seem much more tangible, it also foreshadows the ending
of the story (Kattelman). Everything worsens for George and Lydia from the onset of the short story,
leading to the climax, where Bradbury writes that the lions physically lay their paws on the throats of
George and Lydia. Bradbury uses these instances of foreshadowing to develop the theme technology
affects quality of familial relationships. Furthermore, Bradbury develops the theme technology affects
quality of familial relationships through the use of conflict between the parents and children. A
conflict develops over the use of the Happylife Home s nursery, which allows them to reenact any
event they think of to the ultimate visual, auditory, gustatory, olfactory, and kinesthetic precision.

department store, or the emergency room of a hospital. In doing this research paper I was able to
observe businesses in three different fields. I observed an Electronics Store where the employees were
paid on commission, a clothing store that paid their employees an hourly salary and a shipping
company that paid its employees an hourly salary. While visiting the electronics store that paid their
employees a commission salary based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an employee is hired, the managers discuss the company policies and standards while setting
expectations with the employee. The manager then spends a majority of their time teaching the
employees how to work effectively. After training the employees, the managers put themselves in
positions to observe the staff members so they are able to provide feedback. They make every effort to
catch the good behaviors so they can provide recognition and boost the employee s morale but they
are also willing to provide developmental feedback when necessary. The manager informed me that
this approach works for their company because it creates a fun and positive environment and the
employees know they will always be treated fairly (Thomas, 2010). The shipping company had a
completely different manner of operation because of the business they were in. The manager informed
me that their company is more focused on working fast and efficient. The company s goal is to deliver
packages before deadlines and they train their employees to execute all their operations in the same
manner. The company gives the employees goals and deadlines for every aspect of their job. For
example, they have a specific time that they have to report to work, stock the delivery truck, inspect
the truck and deliver packages. The company makes everything time bound and the employees are
expected to do as much as they can with as little as possible (Holmes, 2010). What are the main

A Research Study On My Personal Habits
PARTICIPATION REFLECTION
The study I chose to participate in was Handbags! Showy and Blingy, or Subtle and Confident? I
selected this particular study because I thought it would be interesting and relates to my personal
habits.
Two bags were shown on the screen, one showy and one plain . A Likert scale response system was
used, rating how I felt about the bag on a scale of 1 to 7. This was an easy response system, and I
found this as a positive experience. At the end of the questionnaire, there was a tell us anything more
about handbags
This experience will inform my own research because I now have a hands on experience with Likert
scales. I understand how to use it effectively in research. The study was projected to take around 30
minutes, but it only took about 15 or so. This was also a positive experience and something to keep in
mind, as participants would also prefer shorter surveys.
I believe it is vital for the researcher to become a participant, as it will be able to take their researcher
goggles off, and see the study through the participant s eyes. If the researcher finds the wording
confusing, they are able to take that information on board, and know what to implement into their
work. This allows for the researcher to learn new ways on how improve their study, making it more
user friendly and less research orientated. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Dietary Guidelines For Health And Chronic Disease Essay
This article was to emphasize how the US government uses dietary guidelines for Americans and how
the guidelines were supposed to help by creating a healthy eating pattern to maintain health and
reduce the risk of chronic disease. . Diet and chronic diseases are sometimes connected. For example,
it is proven that nutrient deficiency disease like scurvy can be cured by consuming the lost nutrients.
However, it is also shown that some nutrient exposure can cause chronic illness such as energy, fats,
sodium dietary fiber, and food exposures, etc. making it difficult to set dietary guidelines. In addition
to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary factors such as stress, lack of exercise, smoking
and other environmental factors are linked to causing chronic illnesses (Slavin, 2012).
The relationship between diet and chronic disease made the federal government to issue dietary
guidelines for Americans since1980 and publication of dietary guidelines were made every five years.
The dietary guideline is in response to the public s desire for authoritative, consistent guidelines on
diet and health (Slavin, 2012). One of the reasons for developing the dietary guidelines was to provide
science based advice for two years old or older to help prevent chronic diseases and promote health.
Another reason why dietary guidelines were created was to lay a good foundation for federal nutrition
programs and nutrition education programs and serve as a basis for research gaps and

Operation Anaconda Failures
The Failures of Operation Anaconda The United States Army (USA) is known for having a superb
command structure and it has been in use for over 240 years. The Army exercises command at three
levels, strategic, operational, and tactical. This determines who is in charge of any given operation at
any given time; whether an Army or joint operation. It also establishes a chain of command in order
for information and order to reach the intended target. However, that did not happen during the first
day of Operation Anaconda as everything that should have gone well, did not. And while the operation
did achieve its goal, there were failures due to the lack of command and control, relationships, and
trust. These are all necessary for a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of command and control was clear from the beginning as the commander did not even
have boots on the ground and was commanding from afar. Not having command and control of their
organizations led the CENTCOM commander to clearly communicate and establish relationships with
those involved in the operation. Additionally, while the operation did achieve its goal, there were
failures due to the lack of command and control, relationships, and trust. All necessary ingredients for
a successful and effective command structure to fight and win in joint combat

Howard Hughes and the Flight of the Spruce Goose
I want to be remembered for only one thing, Howard Robard Hughes once said, and that s my
contribution to aviation. (LIFE) Howard Hughes was known as a mysterious, inventive, and reclusive
character. Hughes was an American entrepreneur who became one of the most wealthiest people
during the 1930 s and 1940 s. Howard Hughes was one of the most famous aviators of all time with
the production of his world wide known plane called the Spruce Goose . (Howard Robard Hughes)
Howard Hughes was born in Humble, Texas on December 24, 1905. Hughes was very creative and
ingenious, but an individualistic and private person. As a kid, he spent his time drawing automobiles,
trains, planes, and boats. His father, Howard Senior, invented a new type of drill bit for the booming
oil industry. The Sharp and Hughes Company was created, and quickly expanded in Texas, California,
and other states. His mother, Allene, isolated Hughes from the real world with her relentless fears of
germs, disease, and death. At the age of fourteen, Hughes was deeply interested in mechanics and
engines. He inherited the love of creating technical solutions from his father. As a way to resist his
mother to refuse to buy him a motorcycle, he turned his bicycle into a motorized bike. Howard
Hughes showed that he disliked school but loved tinkering with any kind of machine. One day, his
father took him on an airplane flight. It was one of the most important events in Howard s life. He was
finally flying.

The Rebirth of the U.S. Military Essay
The Rebirth of the U.S. Military During this last half of the twentieth century the US military was
under siege from all sides, internal and external. The root cause of this situation can be traced back to
Vietnam and the governments lack of true commitment. What resulted was the near destruction of the
US military. The military managed to come out in the end to become perhaps the best military in the
world by completely reevaluating itself and reorganizing almost every aspect . The primary focus will
be on the reorganization of the Army and Air force, and how they were affected by the disaster of
Vietnam. The US military managed to come out one top through completely reorganizing the way the
military works and thinks. Focusing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even as the troops and material began to mount in Vietnam, there was no real plan on what to do with
those assets among the highest levels of government. In the future after Vietnam, the military was
adamant that this would not happen again. The crucial discussions among the highest echelons of the
government prior to war in June and July 1965 focused on the number of troops that would be
provided rather than for how and for what ends they would be used. The military would never forget
the governments ineptitude especially in the area of off limit targets. The North Vietnamese Army had
virtual sanctuaries were they could shuttle supplies and forces from, due to the fact that Johnson didn t
want to escalate the conflict. The restriction of bombing, mining, and blockade in the North and on
attacking sanctuaries in North Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia severely constrained the military strategy
of the generals. The added affect was for years to come there was distrust and contempt between the
military brass and the government. Johnson not only became increasingly controlling of military
matter s but neglected the domestic front. Presidential aides suggested the creation of a citizen s
committee to mobilize support at the grass roots level. Johnson rejected this idea and others, public
support programs weren t started until late 1967. By doing this he weekend the public s support for the
war. Support started to decline rapidly as casualty

Howard Zinn Injustice
Debate has existed in the world for hundreds of years, developing at the beginning of humanity but
more publicly in the early eighteenth century. Humans love to argue their point of view with others in
order to determine the correct viewpoint on various matters. Throughout the world, many approach a
debate with opinions formulated from different outlooks on life. Perceptions of a situation establish
themselves based on where and how a person was raised. When elaborating on historical events, more
often than not, two passionate sides emerge, those who focus on injustices and freedom and those who
look at events focused on traditional values. After examining two takes on colonial America it is
obvious that Howard Zinn focuses on injustice

Vladimir Nabokov and Lolita
A man of many talents, Vladimir Nabokov is known not only for his controversial work Lolita, he was
also an avid lepidopterist in particular, butterflies. There is no doubt that when penning Lolita s
character, Nabokov imprinted several butterfly characteristics on her. This essay however does not
seek to investigate the parallels between Lolita and the metamorphosis of a butterfly. Rather, it takes
the road less travelled and examines the parallels between Nabokov and Humbert Humbert, not as a
pervert, but as a scientist. Nabokov s interest in butterflies stemmed from a childhood obsession as he
recalls chasing butterflies (Time) in Switzerland in 1964. While most people relinquishes their
childhood hobbies, Nabokov pursued his interest in lepidopterology throughout his adult life where
his passion for butterflies lead him to become a specialist in lepidopterist. As a scientist, Nabokov was
acquainted to the clinical ways of science experiments and observations. While this is greatly
illustrated in Humbert s interaction with Lolita in both cases, the former assumes the role of the
scientist and the later the object of investigation Humbert s analytical nature is also reflected in
relation to other characters and incidents including himself as Nabokov draws from his scientific
persona in crafting Humbert s character. In both cases, the former assumes the role of the scientist and
the later the object of investigation. Scientists have to approach an

Doors Opening, Closing On Us, By Marge Piercy
The word doors can have different meanings. Literally, they are a slab of material that separates
something from another, usually a room. Figuratively they can have many meanings, for example,
they can symbolize a growth or a development. In addition, doors can show, an important point where
someone turns from a child into an adult, or they can symbolize celebrations held to commemorate
these special transitions. Doors can also be used to describe life s most important parts, such as being
born or passing away. The Giver is a book by Lois Lowry, it is about a boy named Jonas living in a
community set in the future. This community faces strict laws, if the citizen does not abide by these
rules then there can be some serious punishments. In this book Jonas gets selected as a receiver, the
receiver s job is to get memories from the past and store them in his mind to shield the truth from the
people of the community. The poem Doors Opening, Door Closing on Us is by Marge Piercy, this
poem is about the essence of doors and what they can symbolize. Piercy writes about how doors can
mean various things to different people. Both the book Giver and the poem Doors Opening, Closing
on Us have similarities that describe the stages a person goes through in their life.
The poem and the story both describe death using a door. Lois Lowry incorporates doors in her book
by writing about how a citizen has to walk through a special door into the releasing room. In the book,

Descriptive Essay About Marco Island
When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the
shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every direction.
During the frigid and dreary months of Missouri s winter, there is one place in particular that my heart
longs to be. Marco Island, Florida. When most people think of a luxurious vacation, they imagine
crystal clear water, snowy white sands, and a miraculous five star hotel. Marco Island is no Bora Bora,
but to me it s the most enchanting small town that values simplicity and offers pure bliss to anyone
coming to visit. My father proposed the idea of vacationing on Marco Island before the summer of
2016 after hearing multiple people rave to him about the breathtaking beaches and unforgettable
experiences. My mother and I had never heard of Marco Island, but after five short minutes of
browsing through images online of the picturesque island, we were instantly captivated and could not
wait to see it for ourselves. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for our trip to commence, we
finally arrived on the dreamy island. Rather than staying at a hotel, we rented a beach house that was
supposedly only a six minute walk from Marco Island Beach. While pulling up to the magnificent
home, I was holding back tears of joy. The pale grayish blue house looked like it had jumped right out
of a framed photograph hanging up in the waiting room of a doctor s office. Among it s

College Cost In College
The author talks about college cost, and the effect it has on students and on how times it takes longer
to graduate. This is an important topic because college cost has been a problem for many individuals
for decades and it still is. College cost is something that shapes people s lives and it worries them
because college cost is what determines if they re going to continue going to college. It s something
that people should take lightly because college is pretty expensive. According to the advocacy group
complete college America, it cost 63,718 for one extra year to attend college. For students who take
longer to finish school because of certain requisites, it becomes a toll because of the cost. According to
Norton Field Guide to writing by Richard Bullock and Maureen Daly Goggin found a report on Los
Angeles bases campaigns for college opportunity, saying students who attend school 6 years instead of
4 years will lose 110,900 dollars in their lifetime. Many people in the work field and colleges expect
students to attend school for four years. According to the NFGW, nearly nine out of 10 freshmen think
they will earn their bachelor degree within the traditional four years. Yet In the NFGW quotes the U.S
Department of Education and they report that about 45 percent won t have finished.
I have encountered many people who have mentioned that college is very expensive and that it has
been a big factor on whether they would continue their education. People can take a break

  • 2. Going For The Look Kailey Jimenez English IV Mrs. Gilbert, Per 3 10 January, 2017 Going for the Look A considerable problem in today society is discrimination. Whether it s based upon race, age, sexuality, or even looks, discrimination is a serious dilemma. Marshal Cohen, a senior industry analyst with the NPD Group, believes that hiring people who are walking billboards is critical and essential to a company s success. The companies who hire based on looks, fail to realize that there are shoppers who do not care about the appearance of the store employees, just as long as they are receiving good customer service. People cannot completely control their appearance and brands like Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, and American Apparel should take notice to that. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s really important to create an environment that s enticing to the community, particularly with the younger, fashionable market. Cohen may be right when he says that it is important to create an enticing environment, however some people believe that the way he is going about this is wrong. It is possible to create an enticing environment with friendly people who don t have outstanding looks. Today s society has shown that people aspire to be gorgeous and idolize the beautiful, but they relate more to people who look just like them. If someone were to walk into Hollister and see someone who looks like them rocking an outfit that they typically wouldn t wear, they are more likely to be inspired to try out the stores products. Stephen J. Roppolo, a New Orleans lawyer, tells employers that their focus needs to be hiring people who can get the job done because when companies want to hire to project a certain image, things can get screwy. I have seen some first hand examples of questionable hiring methods. Many of the stores in the mall near my home are excellent examples of hiring based on appearance over caliber. In numerous stores, I have noticed that the employees who work towards the front of the stores are usually Caucasian and outstandingly beautiful, and the employees towards the back of the stores tend to be of more latin descent. I have had multiple friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Parliament Vs Executive Arguments for the successful parliament checks over the executive: Parliament Ultimately holds a sovereign power over the Executive to create law. Any law created by parliament reigns supreme over all including the functions and laws presiding over the Executive. (provided in the Constitution act 1981). Parliament makes, enforces and adjudicates on its own grounds of procedure, not under the Parliament s rule of law applies to the Executive. The concept of the rule of law is created by parliament and restricts the action of policy formation. One of the key concepts that affect the Executive is that the government must exercise its power according to the law. Broadly, the law and policy must be easily accessed and open to the public. If a member of the Executive has breached the law or committed a crime, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cabinet, defined as the head of the Executive is sometimes split to form Cabinet committees for issues too broad to discuss on the weekly meeting. When deciding on the formation of cabinet and cabinet committees, the prime minister as the head of cabinet may stack like minded ministers to sway the discussions. Essentially Cabinet committees become much easier to manipulate than control over Cabinet itself, and the PM (body from Exec) is able to guide power over cabinet without interference of parliament. Parliament in some cases can give away the power through delegated legislation responsibilities. Here, we can see a flaw in the separation of powers system as parliament gives away their sovereign power to another body. (usually the Executive) . Parliament acts as an ineffective check on Executive power as they transfer power to the already powerful Executive. This compromises the Doctrine of the separation of powers, this gives the ability to create law to the Executive. Perhaps as a flaw in the system, the process of handing on a delegated legislation is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, ableism, classism, and sizeism are a few examples of the sorts of systematic discriminations that Americans face every day. However, as of late, one of the most prevalent forms that targets homosexual minorities is Heterosexist discrimination. Heterosexism is defined as the discrimination or prejudice against homosexuals ( Heterosexism ). In addition to being prejudiced and discriminatory, Heterosexism is more often than not paired with the idea that heterosexuality is the normal sexual orientation, and therefore superior. First of all, all trial attorneys who are allowed to operate by the authorities have got some licensing, they should have a good track record, and they should be more than willing to help you. Creative Critical Response CREATIVE CRITICAL RESPONSE Name : Charmayne Text : Hamlet (2009) directed by Gregory Doran, starring David Tennant Context : The following CCR is written in the form of a blog made ten years after the production of the movie Hamlet from the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is written from the perspective of Gregory Doran s daughter who is eighteen years old and studies English Literature in school. She stumbled upon one of her father s works one day, which is Hamlet. I think my dad made a very fitting choice by choosing that attire. Some said that my father directed the movie in a way that made it accessible to the younger generation,[2] probably because it removes the Shakespearean stereotype of medieval clothing such as the doublet. Also, the delivery of Hamlet was comical which appeals to the younger generation because it gives relief from Shakespearean solemnity. My father did an exemplary job in extracting an authentic yet profoundly discerning performance from his actors. David Tennant, known to many as Doctor Who, gives us a Hamlet who is brashly mad but penetrates our hearts with sorrow for his tragedy although some argue that his ludicrousness makes his acting less genuine.[3] Patrick Stewart, on the other hand, gives a stellar performance as King Claudius, making him shrewdly righteous and steadfast, allowing room for King Claudius to scrupulously execute his malignancy. One outstanding aspect of this movie is the use of mirrors and reflections which proves a challenge for my dad because there s a risk of accidently filming the crew but he prevailed in the end, giving more brooding atmospheres during soliloquys. It also acts as a symbol of reflection of characters true nature. There s a part where the mirror in Queen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The new era of mass production kindled in the United States because of technological innovations, a patent system, new forms of factory corporations, a huge supply of natural resources, and foreign investment. The growth of large scale industry in America had countless positive results, but also negative results as well. • 12. Music And The Negative Effects Of Heavy Metal Music Heavy metal music is often criticized for being a negative influence due to the lyrical content and aesthetics of the genre. For those unfamiliar with heavy metal, it is easy to make this correlation because of the darker and often taboo subject matter present throughout the music. With a little more analysis, however, it can be discovered that these same aspects thought to be negative actually bring forth positive results among metal listeners. What is found in heavy metal music is actually a display of emotions and energy that often have a purging effect which helps listeners of metal cope with the constantly changing world around them. Heavy metal is used as a tool for expressing emotion in a nonviolent way, rather than through physical destruction sought by some other genres. Heavy metal is a lot like an experiment to the people who do not understand it or those who dislike it. They look at it as a disgrace, dissect it, run tests on it, and analyze the results in order to get ammunition to put it down. Researchers from the University of Queensland in Australia have found that when volunteers were exposed to extreme music genres including heavy metal, emo, hardcore, punk, and screamo, they actually experienced a range of positive feelings, such as calmness, happiness or being inspired. The study, conducted by honours student Leah Sharman and psychologist Genevieve Dingle and published in the June 26, 2015 edition of Science Alert by writer Peter Dockrill , took 39 ... Contrary to some doctors and politicians the numbers associated with teen pregnancy have decline over the last couple of years. Although there are still people out there who believe this to be an issue it s made more of an issue than it actually is. Compared to the onset of the story where Peter acted courteously toward his parents by informing them he would not arrive for dinner, now, Peter wishes for the demise of his father. The nursery assumes the central role in foreshadowing the climax of The Veldt where Peter and Wendy murder George and Lydia. In the story, Bradbury compares the hot sun to the lions paws (Bradbury). Kattelman refers to this simile, which foreshadows the parents deaths and heightens the imagery: Not only does it heighten the description of George s sensation by making the sun s heat seem much more tangible, it also foreshadows the ending of the story (Kattelman). Everything worsens for George and Lydia from the onset of the short story, leading to the climax, where Bradbury writes that the lions physically lay their paws on the throats of George and Lydia. Bradbury uses these instances of foreshadowing to develop the theme technology affects quality of familial relationships. Dietary Guidelines For Health And Chronic Disease Essay This article was to emphasize how the US government uses dietary guidelines for Americans and how the guidelines were supposed to help by creating a healthy eating pattern to maintain health and reduce the risk of chronic disease. . Diet and chronic diseases are sometimes connected. For example, it is proven that nutrient deficiency disease like scurvy can be cured by consuming the lost nutrients. However, it is also shown that some nutrient exposure can cause chronic illness such as energy, fats, sodium dietary fiber, and food exposures, etc. making it difficult to set dietary guidelines. In addition to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary factors such as stress, lack of exercise, smoking and other environmental factors are linked to causing chronic illnesses (Slavin, 2012). The relationship between diet and chronic disease made the federal government to issue dietary guidelines for Americans since1980 and publication of dietary guidelines were made every five years. The dietary guideline is in response to the public s desire for authoritative, consistent guidelines on diet and health (Slavin, 2012). One of the reasons for developing the dietary guidelines was to provide science based advice for two years old or older to help prevent chronic diseases and promote health. Another reason why dietary guidelines were created was to lay a good foundation for federal nutrition programs and nutrition education programs and serve as a basis for research gaps and ... There is no doubt that when penning Lolita s character, Nabokov imprinted several butterfly characteristics on her. This essay however does not seek to investigate the parallels between Lolita and the metamorphosis of a butterfly. Rather, it takes the road less travelled and examines the parallels between Nabokov and Humbert Humbert, not as a pervert, but as a scientist. Nabokov s interest in butterflies stemmed from a childhood obsession as he recalls chasing butterflies (Time) in Switzerland in 1964.
