Comparing Australian Story And Seven Wonders Of The...
There are various ways to deal with making documentaries, to telling the story and making the point,
and subsequently the a wide range of components such camerawork, music, lighting, music,
enhancements and altering differ from piece to piece. Two documentaries that take an altogether
different edge to in their methodology are the scene of Australian Story about medication trafficker
and Bali 9 part Scott Rush and the scene The Great Ship from the BBC s narrative arrangement Seven
Wonders of the Industrial World . These two documentaries both have extremely varying
methodologies and components, which impacts their general look and feel. The essential element to
consider when investigating is reason and discerning, what is the point and what is it the objective. On
account of Australian Story, the subject is about the capture and trial of Scott Rush and its
consequences for him and his family and companions, depicting their passionate adventure as they
relate the occasions paving the way to Scott s decision. Along these lines is it an extremely individual
story in nature, about individuals and their encounters and emotions, while in the meantime clarifying

Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of...
We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated
version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY
Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed,
Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks
we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets and make sure the
process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations.
Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the
renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a
workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY
Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other
institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during
their spring gathering.
This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s
organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. We reacted to this
by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self care,
and action steps. We invited Scott Law, Tony Tyler, and Provost Sue Madison to speak with us about
how the incident was going to

Individualistic Government By Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau believes that in a government that is ruled by the majority vote, or the majority
rule, the government itself is answering to the requests of the strongest group, and in most cases, the
strongest group is not the group with the best intentions, in terms of virtue or thoughts. Thoreau
describes the majority [of the governed] ... [are not] most likely to be right... but they are physically
the strongest. He believes that the majority have their requests answered due to their strength. Shortly
after, he discusses the idea of a government ruling by conscience and not through their own decisions
of right and wrong. Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to
the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects
afterwards. Thoreau debates the idea of following what we believe is right, through our conscience,
rather than blindly following the law. I agree with Thoreau in this aspect, why should we blindly
follow rules that we know are morally unjust? Thoreau begins his piece of literature with his accepted
motto, That government is best which governs least. There is a term called individualistic culture ,
which is defined to mean a culture that looks to government to maintain a stable society but with
minimum intervention in the lives of the people. Thoreau believes that the best kind of government is
the kind that governs the least number of people, supporting this

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometric...
Introduction
Information security has become one of the biggest priorities to individuals as well as to enterprises. It
has therefore become extremely important that anyone accessing confidential or classified information
have the authority to do so. This essay investigates how biometric authentication methods impact
enterprise security. This determination will be made by looking at whether or not biometric
authentication methods are the best form of security for an enterprise. The advantages and
disadvantages of biometric authentication methods will also be investigated to determine how the
security of enterprises are impacted.
Overview
Since information security has become extremely important it is vital to ensure that information does
not end up in the hands of an unauthorised person. Strict security measures need to be in place in order
to control access. Typically there are two ways that a user can gain access to authorised information.
Firstly, by looking at what you have or know and who you are (Du, BIOMETRICS: From fiction to

identify criminals by looking at their body structure and the sizes of certain parts (Bhattacharyya,

American Connector Company Case Essay
American Connector Company Case
Severity of Threat by DJC
The American Connector Company (ACC) should be extremely concerned with the im pending
entrance of DJC to the US landscape. Any new entrant will most likely be of the mentality to try and
take as much market share as quickly as possible. This course of action usually involves a period of
time when the new company will plan on operating at a loss, and will thereby be will ing to price
below market average with small margins. Realization of this threat would immedi ately disrupt ACC
s pricing strategy and could affect long term profitability.
The threat of lower prices is compounded by the intensity of the current competitive mar ket. ACC
should be concerned with any new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ACC employed a strategy that emphasized an increased variety of products and flexibility in
production, while DJC emphasized a strategy of cost reduction and utilized a number of tactics to
decrease their costs overall. Among the major tactics was a cultivation and maintenance of close ties
with suppliers and distributors in Japan, simplicity of design and manufacturability over innovation,
and an emphasis on being highly efficient in manufacturing. This strategy difference appears to be the
sole driver in the cost difference of the materials as the close ties with suppliers, lower costs associated
with a simpler cheaper design, and the attention to details such as the use of a 2,000 piece packaging
reel instead of a standard 1,500 piece reel minimize the cost of materials.
Furthermore, the ACC strategy of offering increased variety requires shorter production runs which
inherently increases the cost associated with each product and packaging, as idle time due to process
changeover would increase between each product production (4.8% of time com pared with 2% for
DJC). The strategy of increased variety and production runs by the ACC would also affect labor in a
number of ways. Direct labor costs would go up due to a larger amount of idle time associated with
process changeover and the chance of increased problems associated with the

The Last Dynasty Of Isin
From 1975 to 1954 BCE, Iddin Dagan ruled the city of Isin, which is located a little south of Nippur.
Iddin Dagan is loved by the gods, especially An, Enki, and Enlil. Because these three gods favored
Iddin Dagan, he was able to have a successful ruling, filled with abundance of agriculture, a
population increase, and a strong military presence. Ultimately, this shows that religion fuels power,
and without a strong religious presence the ruler would not have an impactful kingship, which truly
benefits the people of his realm.
Isin is the last dynasty that is mentioned in the Sumerian King List. Iddin Dagan was the third king of
the first dynasty of Isin. During the twentieth and nineteenth centuries, decentralizing forces were
strong, which led to an increasing number of local dynasties to come to power, such as the Isin
dynasty (Vdm, 90, document 5.2). The dynasty of Isin was started by Ishbi Erra, when he freed the
city of Ur and brought the local dynasty to Isin. Ishbi Erra continued a lot of the same practices of the
Ur III dynasty in the Isin dynasty.
This document, A Praise Poem of Iddin Dagan, is considered Sumerian royal praise poetry, which
often depicted and praised the various achievements, strengths and accomplishments of rulers in the
ancient Near East. Royal praise poetry can be used to analyze the legitimacy of a king and how he
ruled, how his people felt about him, and his relationship with the gods. Strong and successful kings

Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa
As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one
that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on
one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are
two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil
makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different
and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of
love which causes each to highlight the other.
With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses negative

When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home.
He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back,
he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his
romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the
potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the
Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family.
Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place
his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part
finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just
religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to
Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they
owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises
and son Ascanius.
There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However,
the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of
passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was

The Movie The Star Spangled Banner
Since the early 1900s, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner is an opportunity for citizens to honor
their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the anthem
has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting away with
murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San Francisco
49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the pre season
game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police brutality
stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests who are
joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than sports.
However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are calling the
participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star Spangled
Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the cultural
divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and denouncing his
actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing against the
oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After Kaepernick protested
against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions.

The Tragedy Of Ralph Schneider
Time; it can be a terrifying force. Many might become fixated with time, however they end up wasting
it in an unexpected way. This is a story of one of those time addictions. The story begins in the year
1929, a young boy named Ralph Schneider is born in the town Augsburg on Bobinger street. He was
the perfect German, he had bright blonde hair and sea blue eyes. Ralph grew up in a small house with
his loving parents, Helga and Gerhard along with his sister Ilse, who was born 8 years after him.
Ralph had a simple life with no obstacles standing in his way, his father was making a respectable
amount of money from his job as a tailor. Ralph s life contained only a few simple tasks such as going

He explained to Ralph he had no choice but to go, because the party would come after their family.
Ralph understood, however he couldn t believe he had so little time left with his father. On that final
night they had together Ralph s father told Ralph a story. The story was of a boy much like himself,
whose father had also left for war. This boy was given a watch from his father to keep until he got
back from war. He explained how the boy looked at the watch every day to see the passing time go by
and think that he was one minute closer to reuniting with his father once again. The story went on
about how the boy never lost hope, and his father eventually came home. Then they lived happily ever
after. Unfortunately, I am reluctant to inform you that Ralph s story does not end in a happy ending.
The next day Ralph woke up to a damaged watch on his wrist; immediately he sprinted into the living
room only to find his little sister and mother crying. His father was gone, and instead he had a watch.
The next couple days were tough, his mother closed the tailor shop and they were living on the army
salary. After two weeks since his father s departure, the old watch that Ralph had received stopped
working. Ralph freaked out, he needed to see the time moving on. His family did not own any other
watches and could not afford to buy one, forcing him into a tough situation, he had to do something.

Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid
Ever wonder what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? Ever question what kind of success
can erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand unique to no one but yourself? Pablo
Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists within the modernist movement. Both
Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation to their success with a strong educational background. While
each artist knew that their sheer talent and works would not contribute to their succession alone.
Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand on a global scale. Building a
connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and Hadid knew that their talent and
business practices would allow them to convey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this ability, Picasso seized this opportunity of adaptation, and thus expanded his clientele. By
tailoring his works to the customer s wants and needs, Picasso experimented with new styles of art to
satisfy such needs of dealers and collectors. This came to fruition when Picasso gained one of his
earliest patrons and close friend, Gertrude Stein. Picasso s relationship with Stein developed when
Stein moved to Paris with her brother where she hoped to pursue and art career. With the acquisition
of a Matisse and Picasso s own Young Girl with a Basket of Flowers. This contribution to her
collection of Cubism, may not have been the largest towards Picasso, this greatly increased Picasso s
ability to network as well as brand himself. Picasso understood the importance of branding and
marketing. The connection between consumer and brand, the importance of the media, and the
publicity that surrounded one s story, was the key to laying the foundation of Pablo s success. By
selling his works at the epicenter of Impressionism or Post Impressionism of art, dealers sought
potential investment opportunities in Paris. It was not until roughly 1914 that Picasso gained notable
recognition. By presenting his artwork at the International Exhibition of Modern Art (The Armory
Show) was Picasso able to capture the attention of La Peau de l Ours (Skin of the Bear) led by Andre

Teddy Roosevelt Personality
Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground. This is a quote by the best president that
ever served this great nation, and his name was Teddy. Theodore Teddy Roosevelt was born on
October 27, 1858, in New York City to a wealthy family. His parents were Theodore Sr., a
businessman and philanthropist, and Martha Roosevelt. Theodore was the second of four children.
Barnie, his older sister lived from 1855 to 1931. Eliot, his younger brother, was born in 1860 and died
in 1894, and his younger sister Connie, who lived from 1861 to 1933. Roosevelt was born a sickly
child with asthma. Because of this, he began working out as much as he could to compensate for his
disabilities. Roosevelt became an advocate for exercise and the strenuous life. Roosevelt always made
time in his life for active things like hiking, horseback riding, and swimming. When Teddy was just a
young kid, he was taught by many tutors at home. With this education, Theodore Roosevelt enrolled at

Arterial blood gas analysis (ABG analysis) is a method used to measure the levels of oxygen and
carbon dioxide in the blood, these values are often reported as the partial pressure of oxygen and

blood pH and partial pressure of carbon dioxide, one is able to calculate the concentration of
bicarbonate in the blood. ABG analysis can also be used to measure hemoglobin, lactate and

energy source, as a result their body switches to fat metabolism as its source of energy. As a result
acidic ketones are produced as metabolic byproduct, this can be directly detected as a decrease in pH

Beyond Porter A Critique of the Critique of Porter
The writings of the American managementguru and Harvard Professor Michael E Porter are
considered to be among the most influential of their subject and among the most critiqued ones. Porter
had a lasting influence on strategic management with his books about competitive advantages on
industry level and on global level, which were written in the eighties. Porter s models like the Five

strategy should base on a careful analysis of all internal and external factors and on their potential

crashes has given evidence that the basic laws of economics are viable for the new economy or
information economy too. Exactly this economic insights are the basis for the sustainability for Porters

like profit maximization or supernormal profits.
Critique Is Porter Still Viable? Downes arguments are convincing. In fact, digitalization, globalization

in information technology. Therefore, it is not advisable if not to say impossible to develop a strategy

Essay Feminism and the Shakespeare s Works
Feminism and the Shakespeare s Works
By examining Shakespeare s treatment of familial ties in his plays The Life and Death of King John
and The Winter s Tale, we can see how his attitudes and opinions towards family relationships
evolved. In King John (written between 1594 and 1596), Shakespeare adopts what was then a fairly
conventional attitude towards family relationships: his characters never question the highly patriarchal
family hierarchy. They also assume that the majority of wives will be unfaithful, simply because they
are female however, they take the charge of adultery rather lightly. By contrast, in The Winter s Tale
(written between 1610 and 1611), he adopts a much more progressive, feminist view of family ...

Their conversation disturbingly resembles a sinner s confession to her priest. She tells Robert, Heaven
lay not my transgression to my charge! (1.1.256). He replies by assuring her, And they shall say, when
Richard me begot,/ If thou hadst said him nay, it had been sin./ Who says it was, he lies; I say twas not
(1.1.274 76). This obviously highlights the power differential between the Lady and her son.
The most vivid example of King John s patriarchalism is found in the character of John s niece
Blanche. Her entire life rests on the men in it, namely, King John and Lewis the Dauphin. King John
marries her to the Dauphin, because, as Eleanor advises him, For by this knot thou shalt so surely tie
Thy now unsured assurance to the crown
That yon green boy shall have no sun to ripe
The bloom that promiseth a mighty fruit (2.1.471 474).
After Blanche s marriage, Lewis uses her claim to the throne as the fault was hers / Which fault lies on
the hazards of all husbands/ That marry wives (1.1.118 20). No one contradicts either of them.
Additionally, when Constance and Queen Eleanor begin to argue, they accuse each other of infidelity
and call each other s sons bastards. All of this shows that in King John, women were assumed to be
less faithful than men.
Despite the fact that wives adultery undermines the entire family structure by calling a man s heir s
legitimacy into doubt,

uplifting diction. The Black Walnut Tree illuminates the idea that preserving history is oftentimes
more important than immediate financial gain.
Throughout The Black Walnut Tree , the speaker is reminded of her forefathers while contemplating
her and her mother s predicament involving the removal of the obstructive tree. In line sixteen, the
poem shifts from a negative tone to a more positive one, for the speaker previously talked about the
tree s dark boughs...smashing the house before encountering a change in heart which moves her to ...

The first few lines contain morbid diction such as churn , dark , and smashing in order to set up a
negative tone so that the true value of the tree that is later realized can be emphasized as much as
possible. For example, Oliver later writes that the speaker and her mother feel something brighter that
money moving in their blood, something calling them to dig and sow. The words dig and sow are so
much more positively moving than the negative words in the previous lines, for they call the speaker
and her mother to action while they don t do anything in a period of inaction. Through the previously
mentioned honor of their forefathers, the speaker and her mother are motivated to dig and sow a better
life for their future. Much like crops and trees that only yield fruitful results after a long growing
season, the speaker and her mother become momentarily inspired by all the family heritage and labor
that the walnut tree represents to do something more productive than sitting around and debating on
whether or not to sell their tree. Through the lengthy decision process with the speaker, her mother,
and their tree, Oliver illustrates an example of the money acquired from a quick financial gain being
much less valuable than the potential wealth available through hard work inspired by a symbol of

Summary Of Imogen In Cloten
Imogen attaches her lover s personhood to his belongings, creating an association between one s
clothing and moral character, demonstrating the Elizabethan belief that materials were a physical
manifestation of one s identity.
After Imogen s refusal, Cloten is spurred to action and desires revenge, mentioning Posthumus
clothing four times before the scene ends, emphasizing how Cloten s materialistic mindset identifies
Posthumus primarily through his clothing (II.III.156, 158, 172, 180). As the play progresses and
Cloten learns of Imogen s whereabouts, he acquires some of Posthumus clothes and plans, With that
suit upon my / back, will I ravish her (III.V.163 164). By raping Imogen in Posthumus clothes, Cloten
seeks to revenge Imogen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imogen s alter ego of Fidele allows her to experience new privileges, such as joining a hunt, that she
was previously denied because she was a woman, demonstrating a clear discrimination based on
gender (III.IV.107). Though crossdressing, Imogen is able to evade social gender rules, something
which those in power neither supported nor encouraged (Baker 313).
Imogen s maintains her disguise until the final scene when she pressures Iachimo into confessing his
trickery. Because he doesn t recognize Imogen, Iachimo admits he tricked Posthumus into thinking
Imogen was unfaithful so he could win the ring. Outraged, Posthumus hits Fidele, thinking he played a
role in Imogen s demise (V.V.268). Imogen s outfit that initially equated her with the other men in the
play s patriarchal society now negatively affects her by making it acceptable for her to be hit. She
immediately discards the identity of Fidele and reverts back to a woman s place in society as a
virtuous daughter and most constant wife (V.V.542 546). Despite the freedom Imogen finds through
her male disguise, the scene uses her re domestication to remind the audience of the early modern
belief that women s submission and obedience to their husbands and fathers was considered best for
society.
Furthermore, Cymbeline not only uses

The Philosophy Of Descartes Meditations
Descartes Meditations is said to be the beginning of Western Philosophy. His writings are still greatly
referred to to this day, and he is most famous for his quote cogito ergo sum which translates to I think,
therefore I am. Each of Descartes meditations are followed by objections from other theologists and
philosophers, and thereon followed by replies from Descartes. Some objections are made stronger than
others, for example, Thomas Hobbes, and it could be doubted whether or not Descartes truly was able
to successfully counter Hobbes objections. Hobbes wrote the third set of objections on all six of
Descartes meditations, and in some cases making multiple objections within one meditation. Descartes
first meditation concerns those things that can be called into doubt. It is in this mediation that
Descartes relays all of which he previously believed in his life that could be false. He, in turn, decides
that it would be best if he forgo all of his beliefs that could be false and begin again by starting with
more certain bases. Descartes discusses his belief that though the senses are what we base our most
certain knowledge on, the senses can be deceptive; for example, we sense things in dreams just as we
do when we are awake. Hobbes objects to this meditation by saying if we leave out reason and only
take into account our senses, then doubt is what follows; however, Plato had already come out with
the idea of sensory deception as it applies to dreams, and so all

Examples Of Feminism In Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf is a writer who took her inspirations of her topics from her own life, just as in her
novel Mrs. Dalloway. Because of her father s strict and conservative personality, she was inclined to
her feminist ideology more and more. She was concerned with the thought more and more that why
women do not have the same rights as the men? Due to this influence, she began to use these topics
more frequently. The feminism as a principle is also included into the novel Mrs. Dalloway, for the
reason that Woolf is writing about the after war era when the society had experienced the horrors of
the war. According to the feminist ideology, the male dominated society factors are the reason of the
war eruption. Furthermore, she obliquely refers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were more female characters in the novel than male because she sought to contrast the women s

Nontraditional Concepts Of Homosexuality
Today, different sexual orientations and gender identities are widely talked about and accepted more
frequently. To begin, sexual orientation refers to one s attraction towards another individual
romantically, sexually, and emotionally. Contrary to traditional belief, there are multiple ways people
can identify their sexual orientation. Some cultures even embrace the idea of a third sex to describe
those who identify as transgender. Some of the different sexual orientations include Sexual,
Monosexual, heterosexual, Homosexual, Polysexual, Omnisexual, Pansexual, Bisexual, Demisexual,
Graysexual, Asexual, and Queer (Nagoshi). Although this may seem excessive, people feel the need to
define these nontraditional concepts. However, several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He didn t believe that homosexuality is a fixed psychological identity, but thought of it as being fluid.
He argued, there were only sexual behaviors, and behaviors alone did not make a person gay, lesbian,
bisexual, or heterosexual. Kinsey and other researchers such as Havelock Ellis, William Masters,
Virginia Johnson, viewed sexuality positively.
Conversely, phycologists Richard von Krafft Ebing and Sigmund Freud viewed sexuality as inherently
dangerous and needing repression (Yarber 2016). In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association
removed homosexuality from its list of recognized mental disorders (Savage, 2004). Changing the
way homosexuality was viewed from an illness, to a legitimate sexual identity was a huge step in
normalizing sexual variances. Previously, individuals who experienced non heterosexual attractions
were deemed sick and underwent interventions to find a cure. A paper written by psychologist Lee
Beckstead shared how individuals tried various methods to change their sexual orientation including
surgery, hormonal treatments, and even shock therapy (Beckstead 2012). A research article written by
Christian Cyphers shared that conversion therapy was just recently banned in 2013.
As of January 1, 2013, California was slated to become the first state to prohibit mental health
providers from treating patients younger than 18 years of age with therapies geared toward changing

Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure Summary
I have read the Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. The Hardy Boys were
delivering paper for their dad on their motorcycles. a blue car went flying by and then it went flying
by again. They climbed the hill next to them and delivered the papers. They were going to Chets house
to say hi, and they saw the blue car had crashed into a ditch there was no one in the car. They went
down Chets driveway and saw that Chet was sad; the man had stolen Chets yellow car. Chet and the
Hardy Boys went around town asking if anyone say a yellow car go bye. Their friend Callie who had a
cake in her hand said Chets yellow car was going so fast that it scared her and she dropped the cake.
The Hardy Boys went to the police station to see if the Chief knew anything. Once they got there, they
saw that their rival detective, Detective Smuff was there with a man that worked at a ticket both. They
were reporting a man in Chets yellow car had attempted to rob the ticket booth. The next day the boys
were on the case and they had called in a couple of their friends to help. They all split up to look for
clues and at the end they would meet at the park. At the park they ate and took a nap once they woke
up they looked in the last place it could have been in, in. they looked in the woods near the park where
there was an old dump they split up and looked. They found footsteps in the mud that led to small path
in the woods and they walked along the path. Chets car was at the end of the path. All of them piled in

the hunt for clues. They went to the tower with their dad where Mr. Applegate accused Mr. Robinson
of the robbery because he was the only one who has ever seen the safe open. That was the Hardy boys
friends dad. They wanted to solve the mystery so Mr. Robinson could get a job and they could go to
school with their friend. They suspected that the man who stole Chets car was the one who did it but
they had no evidence. They gave their dad the wig, and he looked inside and saw a tag with a name on
it. They went to New York to find

The Reality Of The American Dream
Since its boom in popularity, society has confined the American Dream to the ideals of a spouse, a few
children, a steady job in a progressive field, a nice house with a white picket fence, and the shiniest
Studebaker on the block. Coming out of world wars, the American Dream faced its most significant
height of desirability as commanders wanted to provide all the creature comforts necessary to
returning soldiers. Some, to this day, argue that the American Dream is an unattainable or perhaps
misplaced perception of reality because they have not reached it or have misinformation. To achieve
this ideal or status, according to others, one must simply work hard for it. The Dream forever changes
alongside society. In fact, it lives on today in a completely different configuration. It can take on other
forms because the American Dream simply reinforces the idea that each person should have an
opportunity to pursue their own idea of happiness. Many have come to grips with the notion that the
American Dream only exists in a fantasy land, completely impossible to reach or even fathom
especially without emerging from a higher class. On the contrary, socioeconomic status has no power
overreaching the Dream. One unshakable truth lies within the American Dream: it involves none
superficial characteristics that people fawned over after World War II, nor any of the things people
fawn over today. Rather, the dream holds no materialistic value whatsoever. The ideal hinges on its
principles,

Ways To Get Rid Of Labeling People
One of the main questions is why people are judged for being overweight. It s not right for people to
make fun of them and something needs to be done about this. People are made fun of every single day
for being fat or overweight. I think that these people that do this do it to make themselves feel good. It
makes them feel good because they are different than the people they are making fun of. They are
skinnier than the other person so that makes them feel better than the other person therefore they think
they are better than them. Although they are not as good as them, they are bullying them and being
extremely rude. We can try to change this but I do not think there is a way to completely get rid of
labeling people. To try to change this I believe that if we just bring awareness to labeling people then
people may start to realize that it is wrong. While brining awareness to it, to try to get rid of labeling,
the main focus should be showing that being different is ok. By showing this maybe kids will realize
someway how they are different from other kids and they will recognize that labeling is wrong.
Hopefully they will stop it themselves, apologize to anybody they have bullied and join in to try to
stop bulling. There are many ways to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

actions do not solve the problem then further actions need to solve this problem. By this I mean ISS

How Advertising Affects The World Wide Web Essay
I will now introduce an extension that individuals can install on their browsers to hide all of the
banners and advertisements when they are navigating the World Wide Web. When an individual is
navigating the web they will see advertisements that might catch their attention and the user might
click on it, taking them to another site that might have malware or virus on them. This site may also
install something on their computer without them noticing. This will also block those pop ups that
show when you are navigating on a certain website and you won t have to worry about something
showing up that you don t want to see. Another positive thing that Ad Blockers do is that they will
block all of the advertisements from videos. Blocking advertisements will have the websites you are
visiting look cleaner by removing all of the items that shouldn t be on there. The websites that you are
visiting will also load quicker because it isn t reading the scripts of the advertisements.

12 Monkeys and Society s Perception of Drugs Essay
Illegal Drugs vs. Psych Ward Drugs
The definition of drugs ranges from supposedly positive to automatically classified as negative. But
who is to say which drug is bad and which drug is considered good. In the movie entitled 12 Angry
Men the director Terry Gilliam used this film to bring about an idea that I had to rethink. This movie
was released on the 27 of December in 1995, this movie s genre is often questionable but for the most
part it is an Action, Thriller, Sci Fi. The two characters that the drugs affected the most were the main

While the scientists on the cast question his trip one of the questions I would like to point out is Cole

The definition of a Drug according to dictionary.com is A chemical substance, such as a narcotic or
hallucinogen, that affects the central nervous system, causing changes in behavior and often addiction
and A substance used in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of a disease or as a component of a
medication. Being a controlled substance we automatically classify drugs as an illegal act that is not
often accepted. In our society today you can go to jail for possession and possession with intent to
supply. Our generation is receiving years in jail or the misuse and overdose of drugs. Drugs are abused
everyday by teens and adults and often looked down upon. Numerous accidents have occurred do to
the abuse of some drugs. Drugs in our society today are initially thought of as bad, and then we come
to the understanding that there are other types of drugs that may in fact not be bad but used for good.
Illegal drugs are portrayed in our society as really bad, but the use of drugs is abused in psych wards
and other facilities also. From previous research I learned that Thorazine is an antipsychotic drug,
used as a major tranquilizers. So it is ok for our government and other higher authority to allow the
use of tranquilizers on humans and

Planned Parenthood Pros And Cons
Planned parenthood is an organization that provides healthcare and sexual education to women,
men,and kids. Planned parenthood was created by Margaret Sanger, her sister Ethel Byre, and an
activist Fania Mindell, and the first center was opened October 16, 1916. The reason Sanger wanted to
create centers like this was because her mother had very fragile health conditions on getting pregnant
with her children. Therefore Sanger traveled to England to study birth control. Along her way to
England she educated as many people as she could on what we was going to do. The first clinic that
they opened was shut down because people were lining up to get in, so the police came to see what

Pro life is opposed to abortion ( Merriam Webster Dictionary ). Women that have abortions at planned
parenthood facilities do not refer to killing the baby as an abortion they refer to it as healing of a
disease. They did a study and it showed most women have these abortions because they want to
restore their current self and to protect their future self. The current self is referred to as the lifestyle
she is currently living, and the future self is what she anticipate what her life will look like in the
future like her career or job. Planned parenthood works with this thinking in to convince the women
that having an abortion will make everything all right but normally the women are never the same
after their abortion. Planned parenthood centers don t provide the post treatment after an abortion such
as counseling, to treat the emotional, physical, and social needs after these women have went through
something so tragic. Finally, planned parenthood denies the humanity of the unborn child (Pauls and

Ads and commercials are on everything from the billboards you see going down the highway to the

different audiences. Whether it s the older generations or the parents of newborn babies, all companies

Target is trying to make it easier on them by putting everything in one store. Men and women shop in

the store rather than just what they need for themselves or the house at that moment (Wells). Target
shows the variety of items in their stores to help show the women in their store that different items that
they could find while browsing the store. By showing the different products, it helps make the women
want to go there because they can get away from the busyness of life by spending times wondering the

they can get everything they could need in one stop. Women make up over two thirds of the grocery
shoppers (Goodman). Of course, not all of these women are staying at home mom s or spouses so they
need to get their shopping done so that they can get back to the other parts of their lives. The same
way that Target is trying to appeal to women who like to browse when they shop, they are appealing to

Not A Hoof Left Behind Mark Twain
NOT A HOOF LEFT BEHIND
Mark Twain says that early in his life he moved to a mining town in Colorado. The town was wide
open with brothels and bars on every corner. Twain says, I immediately recognized it was no place for
a Christian so I decided not to be one. Many people have imitated Twain s response. When they find it
hard to be a Christian, they either quit trying to be one or they compromise their convictions.
Jesus directs some of His harshest words toward the sin of compromise embodied in the doctrines of
Balaam and the Nicolaitans in the church at Pergamos (Rev. 2:12 17). Both doctrines were efforts to
adjust Christianity to the level of the world rather than lift the world to the level of Christianity. They
taught the people to go along in order to get along, in short, to compromise. However, Jesus says he
hates the doctrine (2:15), and the Scriptures warn us repeatedly against it (2 Cor. 6:17; Rom. 12:2; 2
Tim. 2:19).
Pharaoh s dealing with Moses is a classic example of how the devil uses compromise to thwart God s
children from reaching the Promised Land (Ex. 8:25 10:26). At God s orders, Moses and Aaron
demand that Pharaoh release every family and tribe of Israel out of Egypt. Pharaoh does not wish to
grant any part of their request, but sees he is going to have to yield to some extent. He feels, however,
that he can save his dignity and protect his own interests by yielding less than what is demanded. On
four occasions, he offers to compromise.

on D Day were to cut the Caen Bayeux road, seize the Car piquet airport west of Caen, and form a link

initially encountered heavy resistance from the German 716th Infantry Division; the preliminary
bombardment proved less effective than had been hoped and rough weather forced the first wave to be
delayed until 07:35. The beach was defended by two battalions of the German 716th Infantry

casualties in the opening minutes of the first wave. Strength of numbers, as well as coordinated fire
support from artillery and armored squadrons, cleared most of the coastal defenses within two hours
of landing. The subsequent push inland towards Car piquet and the Caen Bayeux railway line
achieved mixed results. The sheer numbers of men and vehicles on the beaches created lengthy delays
between the landing of the 9th Brigade and the beginning of substantive attacks to the south. The 7th

Essay about Wilfred Owen Speech
Ok what I have got here today is a detailed speech and I intend to explain two poems Disabled and
Dolce et Decorum est. , both written by Wilfred Owen. I would choose these two poems to be in an
anthology because I found the poems to be very dramatic and extremely detailed. Owen intends to
shock us by demonstrating what a soldier might expect in a situation between life and death. He is not
afraid to show his own feelings. Wilfred Owen is an anti war poet and expresses his ideas and feelings
through various themes and poetic devices which I will be discussing throughout this speech.
Wilfred Owens themes portray his attitude towards what war is and what might happen to an

Owen intends to shock us by presenting the reality he is feeling, this is why I had chosen this to be one
of my poems Owen usesgraphic descriptions, speaking in a very direct and straightforward way, using
words that convey ugliness and also shows the reality of war which clearly changes our thoughts of
war in the end. Wilfred Owens captivating poem Disabled relates to the after effects of what war can
be responsible for. The poem depicts an ironic contrast between a strong limbed, handsome youth hero
in battle and a wrecked body in a wheelchair which occurs when a man becomes horribly wounded.
His themes are clear that there is no glory in war and war strips men of their youth.
Owen demonstrates how naive the minds of young boys were during the period of the war. Quotes
such as Aye, that was it, to please the giddy jilts or Someone said he d look a god in kilts suggests that
he joined the army to impress others and to maintain this popular image that he seemed to possess.
Then the quotes Germans he scarcely thought of he had no fears and He thought of jewelled hilts for
daggers in plaid socks of smart salutes further demonstrates that the young soldier clearly has no real
view on what war

young child included his unsettling tics , which he had little to no control over. It never fails to amaze
me that people might notice these things. Because my actions were so intensely private, I had always
assumed they were somewhat invisible (Sedaris 362). Ironically, Sedaris refers to his tics as actions

There are various ways to deal with making documentaries, to telling the story and making the point, and subsequently the a wide range of components such camerawork, music, lighting, music, enhancements and altering differ from piece to piece. Two documentaries that take an altogether different edge to in their methodology are the scene of Australian Story about medication trafficker and Bali 9 part Scott Rush and the scene The Great Ship from the BBC s narrative arrangement Seven Wonders of the Industrial World . These two documentaries both have extremely varying methodologies and components, which impacts their general look and feel. The essential element to consider when investigating is reason and discerning, what is the point and what is it the objective. On account of Australian Story, the subject is about the capture and trial of Scott Rush and its consequences for him and his family and companions, depicting their passionate adventure as they relate the occasions paving the way to Scott s decision. • 3. Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of... We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed, Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets and make sure the process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations. Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during their spring gathering. This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. We reacted to this by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self care, and action steps. • 4. Individualistic Government By Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau believes that in a government that is ruled by the majority vote, or the majority rule, the government itself is answering to the requests of the strongest group, and in most cases, the strongest group is not the group with the best intentions, in terms of virtue or thoughts. Thoreau describes the majority [of the governed] ... [are not] most likely to be right... but they are physically the strongest. He believes that the majority have their requests answered due to their strength. Shortly after, he discusses the idea of a government ruling by conscience and not through their own decisions of right and wrong. Must the citizen ever for a moment, or in the least degree, resign his conscience to the legislator? Why has every man a conscience then? I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterwards. Thoreau debates the idea of following what we believe is right, through our conscience, rather than blindly following the law. I agree with Thoreau in this aspect, why should we blindly follow rules that we know are morally unjust? Thoreau begins his piece of literature with his accepted motto, That government is best which governs least. There is a term called individualistic culture , which is defined to mean a culture that looks to government to maintain a stable society but with minimum intervention in the lives of the people. Thoreau believes that the best kind of government is the kind that governs the least number of people, supporting this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometric... Introduction Information security has become one of the biggest priorities to individuals as well as to enterprises. It has therefore become extremely important that anyone accessing confidential or classified information have the authority to do so. This essay investigates how biometric authentication methods impact enterprise security. This determination will be made by looking at whether or not biometric authentication methods are the best form of security for an enterprise. The advantages and disadvantages of biometric authentication methods will also be investigated to determine how the security of enterprises are impacted. Overview Since information security has become extremely important it is vital to ensure that information does not end up in the hands of an unauthorised person. Strict security measures need to be in place in order to control access. Typically there are two ways that a user can gain access to authorised information. Firstly, by looking at what you have or know and who you are (Du, BIOMETRICS: From fiction to practice, 2013) . The most commonly used way is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later on, in 1890 biometric authentication methods then resurfaced and was used to identify criminals by looking at their body structure and the sizes of certain parts (Bhattacharyya, Ranjan, Alisherov, 2009). This method of identifying criminals was proven to give false information and therefore was no longer used (Bhattacharyya, Ranjan, Alisherov, 2009). As years went by, signature biometric authentication methods were developed in the 1960 s and 1970 s but was not really used as a method of identifying people (Bhattacharyya, Ranjan, Alisherov, 2009). • 6. American Connector Company Case Essay American Connector Company Case Severity of Threat by DJC The American Connector Company (ACC) should be extremely concerned with the im pending entrance of DJC to the US landscape. Any new entrant will most likely be of the mentality to try and take as much market share as quickly as possible. This course of action usually involves a period of time when the new company will plan on operating at a loss, and will thereby be will ing to price below market average with small margins. Realization of this threat would immedi ately disrupt ACC s pricing strategy and could affect long term profitability. The threat of lower prices is compounded by the intensity of the current competitive mar ket. ACC should be concerned with any new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ACC employed a strategy that emphasized an increased variety of products and flexibility in production, while DJC emphasized a strategy of cost reduction and utilized a number of tactics to decrease their costs overall. Among the major tactics was a cultivation and maintenance of close ties with suppliers and distributors in Japan, simplicity of design and manufacturability over innovation, and an emphasis on being highly efficient in manufacturing. This strategy difference appears to be the sole driver in the cost difference of the materials as the close ties with suppliers, lower costs associated with a simpler cheaper design, and the attention to details such as the use of a 2,000 piece packaging reel instead of a standard 1,500 piece reel minimize the cost of materials. Furthermore, the ACC strategy of offering increased variety requires shorter production runs which inherently increases the cost associated with each product and packaging, as idle time due to process changeover would increase between each product production (4.8% of time com pared with 2% for DJC). The strategy of increased variety and production runs by the ACC would also affect labor in a number of ways. Direct labor costs would go up due to a larger amount of idle time associated with process changeover and the chance of increased problems associated with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Last Dynasty Of Isin From 1975 to 1954 BCE, Iddin Dagan ruled the city of Isin, which is located a little south of Nippur. Iddin Dagan is loved by the gods, especially An, Enki, and Enlil. Because these three gods favored Iddin Dagan, he was able to have a successful ruling, filled with abundance of agriculture, a population increase, and a strong military presence. Ultimately, this shows that religion fuels power, and without a strong religious presence the ruler would not have an impactful kingship, which truly benefits the people of his realm. Isin is the last dynasty that is mentioned in the Sumerian King List. Iddin Dagan was the third king of the first dynasty of Isin. During the twentieth and nineteenth centuries, decentralizing forces were strong, which led to an increasing number of local dynasties to come to power, such as the Isin dynasty (Vdm, 90, document 5.2). The dynasty of Isin was started by Ishbi Erra, when he freed the city of Ur and brought the local dynasty to Isin. Ishbi Erra continued a lot of the same practices of the Ur III dynasty in the Isin dynasty. This document, A Praise Poem of Iddin Dagan, is considered Sumerian royal praise poetry, which often depicted and praised the various achievements, strengths and accomplishments of rulers in the ancient Near East. Royal praise poetry can be used to analyze the legitimacy of a king and how he ruled, how his people felt about him, and his relationship with the gods. Strong and successful kings tended to have a close ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other. With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family. Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises and son Ascanius. There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was ... • 9. The Movie The Star Spangled Banner Since the early 1900s, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner is an opportunity for citizens to honor their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the anthem has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting away with murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the pre season game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police brutality stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests who are joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than sports. However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are calling the participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star Spangled Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the cultural divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and denouncing his actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing against the oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After Kaepernick protested against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a story of one of those time addictions. The story begins in the year 1929, a young boy named Ralph Schneider is born in the town Augsburg on Bobinger street. He was the perfect German, he had bright blonde hair and sea blue eyes. Ralph grew up in a small house with his loving parents, Helga and Gerhard along with his sister Ilse, who was born 8 years after him. On that final night they had together Ralph s father told Ralph a story. The story was of a boy much like himself, whose father had also left for war. This boy was given a watch from his father to keep until he got back from war. He explained how the boy looked at the watch every day to see the passing time go by and think that he was one minute closer to reuniting with his father once again. The story went on about how the boy never lost hope, and his father eventually came home. Then they lived happily ever after. Unfortunately, I am reluctant to inform you that Ralph s story does not end in a happy ending. The next day Ralph woke up to a damaged watch on his wrist; immediately he sprinted into the living room only to find his little sister and mother crying. His father was gone, and instead he had a watch. The next couple days were tough, his mother closed the tailor shop and they were living on the army salary. After two weeks since his father s departure, the old watch that Ralph had received stopped working. Ralph freaked out, he needed to see the time moving on. His family did not own any other watches and could not afford to buy one, forcing him into a tough situation, he had to do something. Without thinking he went to fetch his two friends Lisa ... Ever question what kind of success can erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation to their success with a strong educational background. While each artist knew that their sheer talent and works would not contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand on a global scale. By tailoring his works to the customer s wants and needs, Picasso experimented with new styles of art to satisfy such needs of dealers and collectors. This came to fruition when Picasso gained one of his earliest patrons and close friend, Gertrude Stein. Picasso s relationship with Stein developed when Stein moved to Paris with her brother where she hoped to pursue and art career. With the acquisition of a Matisse and Picasso s own Young Girl with a Basket of Flowers. This contribution to her collection of Cubism, may not have been the largest towards Picasso, this greatly increased Picasso s ability to network as well as brand himself. Picasso understood the importance of branding and marketing. The connection between consumer and brand, the importance of the media, and the publicity that surrounded one s story, was the key to laying the foundation of Pablo s success. By selling his works at the epicenter of Impressionism or Post Impressionism of art, dealers sought potential investment opportunities in Paris. It was not until roughly 1914 that Picasso gained notable recognition. Theodore Teddy Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, in New York City to a wealthy family. His parents were Theodore Sr., a businessman and philanthropist, and Martha Roosevelt. Theodore was the second of four children. Barnie, his older sister lived from 1855 to 1931. Eliot, his younger brother, was born in 1860 and died in 1894, and his younger sister Connie, who lived from 1861 to 1933. Roosevelt was born a sickly child with asthma. Essay Feminism and the Shakespeare s Works Feminism and the Shakespeare s Works By examining Shakespeare s treatment of familial ties in his plays The Life and Death of King John and The Winter s Tale, we can see how his attitudes and opinions towards family relationships evolved. In King John (written between 1594 and 1596), Shakespeare adopts what was then a fairly conventional attitude towards family relationships: his characters never question the highly patriarchal family hierarchy. They also assume that the majority of wives will be unfaithful, simply because they are female however, they take the charge of adultery rather lightly. This obviously highlights the power differential between the Lady and her son. The most vivid example of King John s patriarchalism is found in the character of John s niece Blanche. Her entire life rests on the men in it, namely, King John and Lewis the Dauphin. King John marries her to the Dauphin, because, as Eleanor advises him, For by this knot thou shalt so surely tie Thy now unsured assurance to the crown That yon green boy shall have no sun to ripe The bloom that promiseth a mighty fruit (2.1.471 474). After Blanche s marriage, Lewis uses her claim to the throne as the fault was hers / Which fault lies on the hazards of all husbands/ That marry wives (1.1.118 20). No one contradicts either of them. Additionally, when Constance and Queen Eleanor begin to argue, they accuse each other of infidelity and call each other s sons bastards. All of this shows that in King John, women were assumed to be less faithful than men. His writings are still greatly referred to to this day, and he is most famous for his quote cogito ergo sum which translates to I think, therefore I am. Each of Descartes meditations are followed by objections from other theologists and philosophers, and thereon followed by replies from Descartes. Some objections are made stronger than others, for example, Thomas Hobbes, and it could be doubted whether or not Descartes truly was able to successfully counter Hobbes objections. Hobbes wrote the third set of objections on all six of Descartes meditations, and in some cases making multiple objections within one meditation. Descartes first meditation concerns those things that can be called into doubt. It is in this mediation that Descartes relays all of which he previously believed in his life that could be false. He, in turn, decides that it would be best if he forgo all of his beliefs that could be false and begin again by starting with more certain bases. Descartes discusses his belief that though the senses are what we base our most certain knowledge on, the senses can be deceptive; for example, we sense things in dreams just as we do when we are awake. Planned parenthood centers don t provide the post treatment after an abortion such as counseling, to treat the emotional, physical, and social needs after these women have went through something so tragic. Finally, planned parenthood denies the humanity of the unborn child (Pauls and Carl pp.315 324). They look at this situation as the fetus not being a human just a random disease that ... • 34. Target Essay Ads and commercials are on everything from the billboards you see going down the highway to the ads you hear on the radio or TV. Every company uses them in different ways to try to appeal to different audiences. Whether it s the older generations or the parents of newborn babies, all companies try to appeal to people in order to sell their products. Target is a department store that has been around since 1962 and they have grown and prospered ever since the beginning. Target is a branch off of the Dayton Dry Goods Company started in 1902 by George Draper Dayton. Throughout the years the store evolved and adapted until they eventually created the Target we know today in 1962. The first store opened May 1, 1962, in the city of Roseville ... Men are more likely to make a list and stick to and try to get in and out of class as fast as possible. Women, however, are more likely to browse the aisles and look at everything that s in the store rather than just what they need for themselves or the house at that moment (Wells). Target shows the variety of items in their stores to help show the women in their store that different items that they could find while browsing the store. By showing the different products, it helps make the women want to go there because they can get away from the busyness of life by spending times wondering the isles of Target. Not only can the women get away from the stressfulness of life, if they are in a rush they can get everything they could need in one stop. Women make up over two thirds of the grocery shoppers (Goodman). Of course, not all of these women are staying at home mom s or spouses so they need to get their shopping done so that they can get back to the other parts of their lives. The same way that Target is trying to appeal to women who like to browse when they shop, they are appealing to those who need to get their shopping done in one quick stop. When showing all the grocery items along with beauty products it allows the women to realize that they can get everything they need for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Not A Hoof Left Behind Mark Twain NOT A HOOF LEFT BEHIND Mark Twain says that early in his life he moved to a mining town in Colorado. The town was wide open with brothels and bars on every corner. Twain says, I immediately recognized it was no place for a Christian so I decided not to be one. Many people have imitated Twain s response. When they find it hard to be a Christian, they either quit trying to be one or they compromise their convictions. Jesus directs some of His harshest words toward the sin of compromise embodied in the doctrines of Balaam and the Nicolaitans in the church at Pergamos (Rev. 2:12 17). Both doctrines were efforts to adjust Christianity to the level of the world rather than lift the world to the level of Christianity. They taught the people to go along in order to get along, in short, to compromise. However, Jesus says he hates the doctrine (2:15), and the Scriptures warn us repeatedly against it (2 Cor. 6:17; Rom. 12:2; 2 Tim. 2:19). Pharaoh s dealing with Moses is a classic example of how the devil uses compromise to thwart God s children from reaching the Promised Land (Ex. 8:25 10:26). At God s orders, Moses and Aaron demand that Pharaoh release every family and tribe of Israel out of Egypt. Pharaoh does not wish to grant any part of their request, but sees he is going to have to yield to some extent. He feels, however, that he can save his dignity and protect his own interests by yielding less than what is demanded. On four occasions, he offers to compromise. First, God ... D Day During World War II Aiden Ferguson Mrs. Huff History 9 December, 2015 D Day D day was a massive turning point in World War II and it gave the allies a chance to fight back against the axis. World War II also known as the Second World War was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It was the most widespread war in history, and directly involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. It all began on 1 September, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and subsequent declarations of war on Germany by France and the United Kingdom. From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns and treaties, Germany conquered or controlled much of continental Europe, and formed the axis alliance with Italy and Japan. For a year starting in late ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first major battle was Juno and it was landed on by Canadians. The objectives of the 3rd Division on D Day were to cut the Caen Bayeux road, seize the Car piquet airport west of Caen, and form a link between the two British beaches of Gold and Sword on either side of Juno Beach. The landings initially encountered heavy resistance from the German 716th Infantry Division; the preliminary bombardment proved less effective than had been hoped and rough weather forced the first wave to be delayed until 07:35. The beach was defended by two battalions of the German 716th Infantry Division, with elements of the 21st Panzer Division in reserve near Caen. The Canadians took heavy casualties in the opening minutes of the first wave. Strength of numbers, as well as coordinated fire support from artillery and armored squadrons, cleared most of the coastal defenses within two hours of landing. The subsequent push inland towards Car piquet and the Caen Bayeux railway line achieved mixed results. The sheer numbers of men and vehicles on the beaches created lengthy delays between the landing of the 9th Brigade and the beginning of substantive attacks to the south. The 7th Brigade encountered heavy initial opposition before pushing south and making contact with the 50th Infantry Division at Creully. The Queen s Own Rifles of Canada had reached its D Day objective, and the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division had succeeded in pushing farther inland than any other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jaws Cinematography During the film Steve Spielberg uses music, a mysterious shark and camera techniques such as simultaneous track and zoom, long shot, close up shots and medium shots to build suspense, tension and scare the audience. The music represents the shark, especially its movements and its presence. In the title sequence the camera is moving along the seabed like a shark. Spielberg makes the audience believe that the camera is viewing things through the shark s eyes, he uses a camera shot called point of view shot. The music makes the shark seem a mystery because you haven t yet seen the shark but you can feel its presence. The music clouds your vision and makes you imagine and believe something that actually isn t even there. It builds tension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Police Chief Brody jumps up from his tense sitting position and shouts for everybody to get out of the water. This was what Police Chief Brody was worried about. The boy, Alex is a lost cause can do nothing but scream, splash and attempt to believe he can escape from the sharks clutches. Alex is dragged down violently as he tries to gasp for breath; he is finally dragged and lost to the depths of the dark sea. The camera shot is really close up to the boy as he is fighting for his life; we see his pain, his struggle and his death. Everyone on the beach couldn t miss the raft in the distance flip over and the blood spill into the sea. Though audience might have had to do a double take, because if you look carefully the camera does show the shark, the shark is the one that flipped over the raft. After everybody s out of the water it is silent like the previous attack not necessarily calm but perhaps subdued shock. There is lots of clever camera techniques used in the second attack scene, which are used to create tension and fear. Close ups of Police Chief Brody looking intensely into the sea, views of the sea and the underwater camera shot where we view through the sharks eyes are all clever camera techniques which create tension and fear. The camera shots also pay close attention to detail. For example, when the man with the dog throws a stick for his dog to fetch into the sea, the camera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Essay about Wilfred Owen Speech Ok what I have got here today is a detailed speech and I intend to explain two poems Disabled and Dolce et Decorum est. , both written by Wilfred Owen. I would choose these two poems to be in an anthology because I found the poems to be very dramatic and extremely detailed. Owen intends to shock us by demonstrating what a soldier might expect in a situation between life and death. He is not afraid to show his own feelings. Wilfred Owen is an anti war poet and expresses his ideas and feelings through various themes and poetic devices which I will be discussing throughout this speech. Wilfred Owens themes portray his attitude towards what war is and what might happen to an individual during warfare. The war strips the individuals of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Owen intends to shock us by presenting the reality he is feeling, this is why I had chosen this to be one of my poems Owen usesgraphic descriptions, speaking in a very direct and straightforward way, using words that convey ugliness and also shows the reality of war which clearly changes our thoughts of war in the end. Wilfred Owens captivating poem Disabled relates to the after effects of what war can be responsible for. The poem depicts an ironic contrast between a strong limbed, handsome youth hero in battle and a wrecked body in a wheelchair which occurs when a man becomes horribly wounded. His themes are clear that there is no glory in war and war strips men of their youth. Owen demonstrates how naive the minds of young boys were during the period of the war. Quotes such as Aye, that was it, to please the giddy jilts or Someone said he d look a god in kilts suggests that he joined the army to impress others and to maintain this popular image that he seemed to possess. Then the quotes Germans he scarcely thought of he had no fears and He thought of jewelled hilts for daggers in plaid socks of smart salutes further demonstrates that the young soldier clearly has no real view on what war ... • 39. Analysis Of A Plague Of Tics By David Sedaris In A Plague of Tics, David Sedaris s describes his life from childhood to adulthood. He suffers from OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder). Sedaris writes, If I were to lose count of my steps, I d have to return to school and begin again (360). This showcases the extreme case of Sedaris s OCD; that if he does not make his route absolutely perfect, he won t be able to find peace. His compulsive routine as a young child included his unsettling tics , which he had little to no control over. It never fails to amaze me that people might notice these things. Because my actions were so intensely private, I had always assumed they were somewhat invisible (Sedaris 362). Ironically, Sedaris refers to his tics as actions that were private ...
