Car Wreck Research Paper
Whenever I see a car wreck, I recall my wreck several years ago that could have very easily cost me
my life. Living through that experience has helped me to value every day more than before and
may also be the reason I always feel the need to stop and help those on the roadside. Years later I
can see that my familys car wreck was a unique event in my life that changed my perception of life.
I can still hear the quiet dripping of rain when I awoke on the morning before the accident. The
sun was barely breaking through my window s blinds with a yellow and gold glow when I
opened my eyes. Glancing at the clock, I saw that it was 8am, and my family was going to a
church service as was their usual routine. After dragging myself out of bed and dressing the part, I
headed to the kitchen to eat. Steaming stacks of chocolate chip pancakes drizzled with hot maple
syrup awaited me.
After I had finished eating, I dozed off in the car as I waited for my parents and brother. While I
had not stayed up too late to read the night before, I have never been a morning person, so my
mind was still foggy when my family entered the car. As we left home, my parents had started
arguing about something which held nothing but the promise of a trying day. As we neared the
interstate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was fearful as the car seemed to be traveling much too fast to be considered safe. As our car
passed over the crest of the hill and down towards a left curve, our tires lost traction, and the road
became a glass plate. We slid left across the water, hydroplaning as we neared the shoulder. Our
tires touched the gravel on the roadside, and our car spun down into the bowl like median with
thick trees in our path. The car spun three times, then shuddered as the side was crumpled in by a
large pine. The window to my right imploded as crystalline stars filled my vision and the world
slowed down, then blacked

Example Of Pathological Arbitration
Warren E. Burger , in a 1984 address to the American Bar Association lamented that:
The entire legal profession has become so mesmerized with the stimulation of the courtroom that
we tend to forget that we ought to be healers of conflict. Our system is too costly, too painful,... As
healers of human conflicts, the obligation of the legal profession is to provide mechanisms that can
produce an acceptable result in the shortest possible time, with the shortest possible expense and the
minimum of stress on the participants. This is what justice is all about.
Arbitration is envisioned to assist as an effective means to resolve disputes without involving the
costly and overburdened judicial system. However, even the finest tool is subjected to abuse in the

reason is that where parties are under no compulsion to go to arbitration, the party seeking to

Milton Friedman And Richard Freeman Essay
Business ethics Name Institution Date Questions 1: Milton Friedman and Richard Freeman
represent differences that exist on the positions held by scholars with regards to the obligations
of a business firm. The major difference between the two is on the issues of corporation s
responsibilities to the society and the obligations to different groups. To whom does the
corporation owe much responsibility? Friedman offers his views based on the shareholders
theory. In his theory, he adopts the view that a corporation as an entity is just an artificial person
defined under the law, and thus can only have artificial responsibility. His major disagreements
are with those who hold the position that corporations have social responsibilities (Kaler, 2012,
p. 250). In his view, the obligations of a firm are first to the stockholders. As a result, its primary
should to maximize the stockholders profits under the set rules and regulations. This obligation
should always prevail against others. On social responsibilities of an organization, his views are
restricted to the position that only individuals are in a position to be held socially responsible.
However, he insists that those individuals in management are employees of the stockholders and
thus should only do that which is beneficial to the stockholders and in line with set legal
obligation (Kaler, 2012, p. 255). On the other hand, Richard Freeman provides a view that he
defines as the stakeholder s theory. By the word

Sunrise airs on Channel 7, an entertainment and family channel. Channel 2 naturally draws in
more intellectual, education driven people as this channel airs programs such as Catalyst, a

Having both of these programs which require an educated audience consequently results in a
more educated and older demographic for ABC News. Contrariwise, Sunrise aired on Seven
shares its channel with programs such as Home and Away, an Australian soap opera and
Restaurant Revolution, a reality TV show. Seven s choice to focus on programs entertaining to

Medicine and Herbal Remedies Throughout the Sixteenth Century
Shakespeare, self proclaimed poet and renowned playwright, lived in the age of the Renaissance.
More specifically, the time at which the Tudor family ruled England, during these times, there were
deep rooted religious cleansings and ongoing witch hunts, that sought out anyone and everyone that
did not follow suit. Shakespeare (1564 1616A.D.) was born in, and lived through the medical
renaissance, which was the point between 1400 and 1700A.D. that innovated the medicines used in
Europe. These treatments were eventually diffused throughout the world. The most typical
consensus made by medical technicians of the time believed in the body to be maintained up by a

Melancholy was affiliated with black bile, earth and a cold, dry environment. If a patient was
thought to have an excess of a particular humor, measures would be taken to lessen that value, such
as blood letting (sanguine), dietary changes and bodily purging. In Tudor England, the knowledge
of humors and their use in medicine become widely acknowledged and accepted, and these humors
impact on a person s temperament also became used. Stemming from beliefs in ancient Greece, the
people in that era believed that one s general mood and state of mind was affected by the overall
balance of humors in their body, if a particular humor dominated then the personality it personified
would become present in the individual. Elizabethan people believed that the humors gave off
vapors that traveled to the brain, causing a certain behavioral pattern to surface The humours gave
off vapors which ascended to the brain; an individual s personal characteristics (physical, mental,
moral) were explained by his or her temperament, or the state of that person s humours . Thus, a
person with balanced humors had a balanced disposition. Too much sanguine in a person led to an
optimistic and generally positive attitude, albeit an irresponsible one. Choler made one wrathful and
ambitious. A phlegmatic person had characteristics that were slothful and cowardly. Finally, a
person overwhelmed by melancholy was introspective, gluttonous, and

Italian Theatre In The 18th Century
18th Century Italian Opera in London Opera is a massive genre of theater that has had many
major effects on art. The 18th century especially is a thriving time for opera. According to The

were lively and nobility commissioned many new works. Italian opera, at this time was spreading
from Italyto other countries such as England. With the help of my group, we will be exploring

some of the most efficient sound acoustics of the time! This would help make the show
enjoyable for all seats in the house. According to The Royal Opera House s history webpage,
Handel had close links with this almost 300 year old opera house until his death in 1759. The
Royal Opera House was a popular opera house at the time that even rivaled The Royal Drury

because of then many riots that happened when seating prices changed. Below is an examples of
seat price changes that caused riots (See Fig. 2) by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
There are occasional reports of riots among the cheap seats (the footmanВґs gallery ). Traditionally

No Formal Diagnostic Criteria For Postpartum Disorders And...
Introduction
Almost all countries have laws against killing of infants, but most give special consideration if
the child is less than 1 year old, or if the woman can be shown to be depressed or mentally ill.
Many infant deaths are never investigated and never charged because the cause of death is unclear
SIDs, accident, etc. If a doctor signs off as natural causes, it is unlikely that it will go any further.
U.S. law does not allow for reduced charges in the first year and a woman who kills her child is
generally charged with homicide. If convicted she faces a long prison sentence or even the death
penalty. Although she can plead not guilty by reason of insanity, there are no formal diagnostic

Fortunately, in each of these cases, the baby was rescued and survived without apparent serious
injury, but given the opportunity to hand over a baby to a fire station, church or hospital without
any questions asked or penalty imposed, one cannot help but wonder what social forces drive these
young women to harm or abandon their babies?
This paper will discuss the reasons why a young woman might feel unable to keep her baby/child.
We will discuss the legal ramifications of these choices and what other countries do. Finally we
will make policy recommendations regarding changes to US law.
Why a Woman Would Kill Her Child
There are many reasons why a woman would give up a child including her health, the child s
health, parental pressure, economics, and social, cultural and religious taboos. While in the U.S.,
having a baby while unmarried has become relatively common, and many families accept an out
of wedlock baby readily, many others do not. There are young people who are too afraid to admit
the situation to their parents and others who are simply not in a position, either financially or
mentally, to raise a child.
Neonaticide almost always occurs on the first day after birth (Friedman, Kavney and Reskick,
2012). It is generally linked with a hidden pregnancy and possibly denial of both pregnancy and
child. In these cases, the mother rarely gets prenatal care and may deliver in secret. According to

The Attrition Problem in Colleges and Universities
INTRODUCTION Intense competition has made student attrition a concern for colleges and
universities.
Attrition is costly and generates considerable concerns for educational institutions (Tinto, 1993).
This is especially true for small schools that do not have huge endowments, and must depend upon
tuition and fees to support programming. The loss of students has a detrimental impact upon
budgeting as the costs involved in recruiting new students is definitely higher than the cost to retain
existing students (Braunstein, Lesser, Pescatrice, 2006). Small colleges and universities are looking
for ways to differentiate from the competition by offering creative programs that will meet the
needs and wants of students. These schools then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further studies suggest that students must take control of the college experience by getting involved
in career planning, joining campus organizations, developing internships, and providing service to
the community (Letcher Neves, 2010). The authors go on to suggest that instructors need to help
students gain self confidence as well as providing a valuable educational experience and a solid
learning environment.
Giese and Cote (2000) have found that there is no single definition of customer satisfaction, and
suggest that satisfaction can be explained best as a response to an evaluation process. The authors
further suggest that problems occur when selecting a definition and comparing results when
operationalizing the definition. Therefore, organizations must use care tailoring the survey
specifically to the type of customer satisfaction questions which can be customized for particular
needs. Other studies suggest there is a relationship between variables relating to the students goal
achievement and social integration into academic life (Wetzel, O Toole, Peterson, 1999). Academic
and social factors appeared to be the most important reason for persisting to graduation. Wetzel et
al., (1999) further found that progress in academic work measured by GPA and hours attempted
and earned guided the attrition/retention decision. Colleges and universities should definitely track

Essay about Narrative- Water Slide Experience
Narrative Water Slide Experience
I was so excited. I could hardly breathe through the hour drive it took to get there. I was squished
between my two ten year old best friends in the back seat of a white Saturn, but I didn t care. I was
practicing over and over in my head what I was going to say to all the smart alecky adults who
would tell me I was too young to ride the water slides. I was simply going to reply, Actually I m ten,
going on eleven.
On the right of me sat the girl I met in preschool, the swimmer who was named after a state like
me: Tennessee. She was the observant artist. She sat there holding a deck of cards, trying to find
all the queens. I could tell she was nervous. Her hands were sweating. The cards were damp ...

I was so nervous and excited at the same time that I practically leaped out of the car with my Gap
backpack and my Wal Mart towel flying behind me. I could hear the screaming and crying of
children.
After we went through the long line to pay and put on a whole tube of sunscreen, we were ready
to have some real fun. We wandered around trying to find the perfect ride.
Tennessee and I had decided on the water gym when Anna suddenly stopped short. She pointed
way up in the air. Our eyes slowly followed her finger. Through our ten year old eyes we saw what
looked like the scariest ride in the entire world. It was a 50 foot tall, sky blue slide that went
straight down into a giant pool of deep dark water.
Anna looked around and smiled. Her short brown hair jumped and fell each time she took a long
stride. Her brown eyes twinkled as she walked to the slide. She seemed so proud about being
brave and daring to walk up to The Death Slide. Tennessee and I felt embarrassed that a girl six
months younger than we were was going to ride it while we were going to play on the water gym.
But Tennessee and I had a plan to cover up our embarrassment. We were going to act like we were
going to ride The Death Slide, and then, at the last minute, say we forgot something and wait at the
bottom for Anna.
As we stood in line, slowly approaching the 50 foot ladder I tried to gather up my strength and

Environmental Deforestation
The biosphere of the Earth is threatened by deforestation every year due to human expansion.
Which is the act of clearing a wide area of tress to a non forested area. Usually for either
agricultural uses, paper usage, or wasteland. Over 30% of the Earth is currently covered in
forests. Unfortunately, it is estimated that in 100 years, there will be no forests left. (Rinkesh.
2017)The removal of forests can lead to imbalances ecologically, and environmentally, and it can
result in a decrease of the biosphere of the planet. As tress produce vital oxygen, and provide
homes for wildlife, and over 1.6 billion people, including medicine, fresh water, and food.
Agricultureuses, illegal logging, fires, and fuel wood harvesting are some of the main causes of
deforestation. Mainly resulting in reduced biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, the disruption
of water cycles, soil erosion, and impacts on species and plants survival. In order to save our
planet, and halt the removal of forests, solutions such as hemp farming, and land re purposing need
to be issued, and put in place. The consequences to the ecosystem and its human and animal
residents, due to the threats it faces, could alter our planet, and way of life. (World Wildlife Fund.

Analysis Of Michael Patrick King s The City Franchise
Second edition of Sex in the City franchise by director Michael Patrick King, the girls are settling
into their 40 s or in Samantha s case her 50 s. Each gal is still looking fabulous but needing a
break from the doldrums of daily life, they are invited to Abu Dhabi to experience the newest
hotel in hopes that Samantha s PR firm will endorse it. The bulk of the movie follows the ladies
on their awkward vacation in the rigid Middle Eastand the life lessons learned there. Sex in the
City 2 misses the mark in its latest attempt at the box office by choosing the location of Abu Dhabi
of the United Arab Emirates, scripting a lazy floundering plot line and a movie length that could
have been trimmed by more than a few minutes. The first and greatest downfall of this movie is
simply the location. Sending the fully liberated girls to Abu Dhabi is just a stupid mistake for
two reasons. First, it s 2010 and America is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and so why the
writers chose another Muslim country to send their main characters to on a vacation is beyond
me. In a time when we have so many of our brothers and sisters fighting in wars in the Middle
East, to glorify Abu Dhabi as a vacation location can be considered by many as offensive.
Second, if the creators were looking for exotic locations, there are many other places to be found?
Paris may not be exotic but it is fashionable and far enough away to be exotic to Holly Housewife

In male dominated cultures sex roles are sharply differentiated. There is a clear role distribution
which suggests itself in the fact that men are superior to women and men normally occupy
management positions. Hence, the focus is on achievement, competition and fighting . However, in
female oriented cultures genders are less distinguished and both genders play the same role. These
cultures stress care, compromise and harmony.
The fourth dimension called Uncertainty Avoidance aims at the way people try to get a grip on
unpredictable and ambiguous situations. People living in a culture with strong uncertainty
avoidance have fear of the unknown. Therefore elaborate rules, regulations, and clear orders exist.
Cultures with a low uncertainty avoidance tolerate differences, unanticipated situations and are
more open toward change. People make decisions which are subject to individual discretion and
which are based on more universal rules.
Long Term Orientation vs. Short Term Orientation relate to the choice between future and present

Effects of Flowers with Scent Versus Flowers without Scent on Insect Activity
Flower communities are an example of a limited ecosystem that vary from one to another based on
species of flower as well as microclimate differences. The main component of a flower community
is the flowering plant itself. This plant is the main dictator of all activity in the community. Other
aspects of this limited ecosystem include the species that interact with this plant and the resources

The flower is in bloom from September to November in habitats with relatively dry soils receiving
little sunlight. Although the flowers do not produce a scent, they do provide a nectar source and are
known to attract butterflies. It is also know to be a plant that attracts predatory insects that prey
upon pest insects the same as the Sweet Everlasting ( Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium).
Additionally, it is of special value to pollinators, and known to attract large numbers of native bees (
Native Plant Database, n.d.).
The ability of both of these flower communities to exist in similar habitats makes them ideal for
comparing differences in insect activity without the influence of outside factors such as
temperature, light, and humidity. Both flower communities are also known to attract similar
species, which allows the quantity of species visiting one site to be easily compared to the quantity
of species visiting the other site. This is essential because the study aims to determine whether the
property of scent, characteristic of the Sweet Everlasting (Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium), had an
effect on the amount of species interacting with each flower community. If certain species are
attracted to scent, then the sweet everlasting will attract larger numbers of species than the white
aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides).
Methods
For this study two sites were chosen to compare the different insects, spiders, and other
invertebrates that inhabit the limited ecosystem

Anne Frank Hiding
Everyone s life has changed when they had to go into hiding, when their time came. They were
scared and didn t know what to do, they no longer had a life to live anymore. Anne was
motivated to strive for change when she and her family were separated by her family. Not being
able to see everyone she loved and not being with them anymore. She wanted to be different from
everyone and go out and do things on her own, by writing. In hiding Anne found comfort through
writing, about anything and everything. She loved to write short stories and was rewriting her

Feinberg Psychological Egoism Summary
In Psychological Egoism , Feinberg responds to argument 4b with examples. In this paper I restate
that argument and present how he argues against it. The argument Feinberg tries to refute is that:
when one satisfies his desire he would gain pleasure, thus for everyone the real motive of every
action is to achieve his own happiness and anything else he is pursuing is just an approach toward
his pleasure. At first, he attacks the premise as not rigorously being true since achieving what one
wants does not necessarily lead to satisfaction. On the contrary, most of the time no pleasure is
achieved or dissatisfaction might appear after fulfillment of goals. Secondly he argues against the
conclusion derived from the premise by claiming that even

Charles I, Louis Xiv, And Peter The Great
In the latter half of the 1600 s, monarchial systems of both England and France were changing.
Three royal figure throughout history who all tried to establish a role of absolutism in their
societies all of them had varying factors with the greatest success from least to greatest being
Charles I, Louis XIV, and Peter the Great. Absolutism is a form of government where a king or
queen rules with unrestricted powers. They are often followed in heredity by passing on the
leadership through bloodlines. All over the world these bloodlines still exist except, that most
of them only remain as a symbolic figure or a person of fame. A couple of monarchs that still
rule are Brunei, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Swaziland, the emirates comprising the UAE, and
Vatican City. The English had been under the combined rule of both the king and the assembly
for so long that they were not ready to give all the power of government to a single person. The
least influential, Charles I, was born in 1600 and died 1649 when he inherited the throne
parliament was very upset with the monarchy and sought to lessen the power of the monarchy.
Charles I tried to rule without consenting Parliament, but Parliament had so much control at the
time that he failed to decrease its power. However, Charles believed in the divine rights of kings.
Charles went on to oppress his people by levying taxes without the consent of the parliament. Many
of his subjects saw him as a tyrannically oppressive leader. He created

Strategies For Enhancing Child Development
Strategies for Enhancing Child Development Kelcie Roscoe University of Florida Strategies for
Enhancing Child Development Many different types of development are important for helping
children to be successful through their schooling, and even later on into their lives. In the
following paragraphs, I will discuss strategies that I would like to use in my future classroom to
help students with their emotional, literacy, cognitive, and social development to help my
future students to succeed.Emotional Development To enhance my students emotional
development, I think it is very important to help the student develop their ideas of possible
selves. Possible selves can either be negative or positive. Negative possible selves are what
someone does not want to become, and positive possible selves are what someone wants to
become (Cade, 2015b). The objective for teachers is to help students to have balanced possible
selves, so they are able to monitor their goals and become who they want to be. Developing
balanced possible selves also helps students to be more optimistic and believe that they can
change (Oyserman, Bybee, Terry Hart Johnson, 2004). An important thing to do to help students
achieve these possible selves is to have students discuss and set goals for what they want to
become, and also discuss what they do not want to become. Students also must be able to analyze
how they can become their positive possible selves and how to avoid their negative possible

Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving
Omnipresent Death
Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first the poem seems
to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the
fear of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the
speaker seems to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because
the speaker starts talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he
witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals
the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem,
the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of
the bug he observes.
The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days
when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the
fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the
speaker is stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t
reveal if the speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks
about death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about
death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death

Atomic Bombs And Its Effects On The World s Top Scientists
In the morning of July 16, 1945, the very first nuclear explosion took place in Alamogordo, New
Mexico. This one very specific explosion was the first test of the most damaging weapon ever
known to man. These explosive devices took almost six years to research and develop. It took a
team of hand selected of the world s top scientists. This collaboration was famously known as the
Manhattan Project. Less than a month after the test, President Truman dropped two nuclear bombs
on Japan. These weapons were dropped only three days apart. The aftermath was so crucial it made
the Japanese finally to surrender.
Before there was the aspect of nuclear bombs people destroyed each other at each other stuff using
conventional bombs. Casing full of explosives like Trinitrotoluene or known as TNT or ammonium

Analysis Of The Price Of Beauty Essay
Angelica Alvarado Professor Stacey English 103 September 14, 2016 The Price of Beauty
There s an ongoing, almost always unsaid joke, that women have one million emotions within a
twenty four hour period, which is completely opposite from that of a man s day. But has anyone
really taken the time to look at what goes into being a woman? It goes without saying that if a
woman doesn t know how to contour, or highlight her face, other women will talk down to her
and about her when she leaves; men won t even be interested. At the same time, if she does use
makeup, but it s not the BEST kind, or highest quality, there s a chastising and condescending
tone used during conversation, or an assumption that these women are simple or easily amused .
She must not have a lot of money. Poor thing. With so many pressures and expectations a woman
has to meet on a day to day basis, can this contribute their stress or lack of self esteem? When a
woman wakes up, it s about an hour before she leaves for work. She cakes on a Bare Minerals
foundation, Maybelline blush, NYC mascara and her favorite shade of Mac lipstick. Shoot. Only
30 minutes left. She struggles to find a balance between something that s appropriate for the
office, but enough to get her noticed as a worker and not a homeless hooker. That s enough blush
right? On her way to (or at) work, she s hit on about 3 or 4 times because the makeup she put on

Elements of Intentional Tort Tort lawenables citizens to seek reimbursement for loss and or
suffering from conduct that would be deemed dangerous or unreasonable of others (3). Tort law is
non criminal and is dealt with in our civil judicial system. The categories of Tort Law include
intentional tort, negligence and strict liability. An intentional tort case is proved by the plaintiff
showing that the defendant intentionally injured him/her (1). In a negligence case, the plaintiff
shows that the defendant did not act carefully as the law requires and therefore should be liable for
any damages to the plaintiff (1). The strict liability cases occur when a plaintiff suffers damages
even though the defendant acted carefully and with no intent of harm being done to them (1).
During a trial the plaintiff will attempt to prove their case by the presentation of evidence to the
trier of fact. The evidence usually includes testimony of persons involved; witnesses as well as

A Case Study On Southwest And Will Address Acquisitions
Mergers and acquisitions have always been around and have been popular in the United States
for decades. It has been said that that mergers and acquisitions have contributed to the
reconstruction of businesses during the 80 s and 90 s. The following is an analysis of a case
study on Southwest and will address acquisitions, mergers, and restructuring. Acquisitions are
popular in the United States and there are many reasons why a company decides to acquire
another company. Companies will decide to acquire a business in order to increase market
power. Market power happens when a company sells its good or services above competitive
levels. If a company attains a high market power, it can become a leader (Hitt, Ireland,
Hoskisson, 2015). Acquisitions that are competing in the same industry as the acquiring firm is
called a Horizontal acquisitions Horizontal acquisitions also increase a company s market power.
According to the class textbook, horizontal acquisition are a result in higher performance when a
company have similar characteristics (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2015). For example, has somewhat
of the same strategy and decision making styles. Another type of acquisition is vertical
acquisitions, which refers to a company who purchases a supplier or a distribution of products they
use. A vertical acquisition gives the firm additional controls (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2015). A

Heroes In Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell
Heroes can be explained in many different ways. Heroes can be said to have specific features like
being ultimately stronger than everyone else, being able to use special powers to defeat their
enemy, or just being able to accomplish something that they themselves or other people thought that
they could never do. Through many years of studying different cultures and their historic myth,
people are able to come up with a theory on how many of the myths complete their heroic cycle.

In her late teens she decided this would not be the type of person that she wanted to be and

The Reason Why La Tomatina

people who were joining the fight. It is almost unimportant in the landscape of popular Spanish

somehow it caught the eye of some major media outlet. Another reason why some people do not
participate is because they do not like tomato to be thrown at. They replied that it is messy and
people get hurt if they slip over. In this special celebration, there is no political or religion
importance to La Tomatina. In 1980, the organization of the festival became the responsibility of
the town. Soon this celebration became internationally considerable and highly broadcasted by the
use of international media. In the beginning, it was forbidden in the early 1950 s but people
spoke and the celebration was allowed with more contestants and more frenetic feelings. The

Data And The Standard Model Of Its Representation As Well...
In this Chapter, we present the background needed to understand the work proposed in this thesis.
As our research mainly concerns with securing provenance, Section 2.1 will cover provenance data
and the standard model of its representation as well as the applications of securing provenance.
Section 2.2 introduces graph databases that will be used later in storing provenance in our
prototype. Section 2.3 explores workflowsystems and workflow provenance. Section 2.4 illustrates
the main security principles that will be tackled in the thesis and inference problem that attacks
privacy. Finally, Section 2.5 summarizes the main content of this chapter.
2.1What is provenance?
Provenance (aka lineage) is a descriptive metadata (i.e. data about data). It specifies not only the
properties of an object but also the history of deriving this object. As provenance touches many
different domains and applications, it has different definitions that represent different views of
provenance such as Description of the origins of data and the process by which it arrived at the
database [20], Metadata recording the process of experiment workflows, annotations, and notes
about experiments [50].
The rationale behind provenance has been long established, for example log files and metadata, but
the term provenance is recent and it is gaining popularity particularly in workflow systems.
Descriptive metadata only becomes part of provenance when one also specifies its relationship to
deriving an

Old Spice Has A Storied History Essay
Introduction
Old Spice has a storied history as cologne that is favored by both men and women. During the
1970s and 1980s, the brand relied heavily on nautical ocean scenes in their commercials and sex
appeal. However, after years of success, Old Spice became known as old guys cologne. By the
early 1990s, Old Spice s ability to survive and endure over the course of several decades became
its downfall. Old Spice had become an icon associated with old men. The younger generation of
boys and men mostly recognized Old Spice as something their fathers and grandfathers wore, which
resulted in a lack of interest for the product, (Neilly, 2014). Old Spice realized that their traditional
nautical themed advertising no longer appealed to their target audience of young men ages 12 34
so they decided to rebrand.
Old Spice Man Television Commercials In 2010, Old Spice introduced their latest spokesman the

With the NFL football player turned actor, Isaiah Mustafa, they created a series of commercials
that not only specifically addressed the ladies, but talked about what makes men manly. These
advertisements were so successful, they garnered record amounts of YouTube, (Neilly, 2014). The
Old Spice Man was someone that the target audience would recognize as a professional athlete
and a masculine icon. Another successful aspect of the Old Spice campaign is the fast paced
filming styles. The Old Spice guy recorded his video responses in rapid succession, an amazing

The film Thelma and Louise is in fact a feminist work in which women are empowered. The film
Thelma and Louise is most famous for its ending scene. The iconic scene of the two women

referred back by those who liked it. Although the kiss in the scene is not a romantic kiss, it
captured the love between the two women, not a romantic homosexualised love, but a
heteronormal sisterly type of love. Also, their faces prove that they died happy, and chose to die

Nicole Keating, writes about the ending of the movie and its representations. She mentions the
Thunderbird s mirrors and their representation throughout the movie and most importantly the

themselves, instead they are searching for who they are, searching though the crimes they have
committed and the people they have met. During the final scene, however, they are no longer
looking at the mirror, they are looking at each other. Viewers see the mirror, with what the women

  • 2. Car Wreck Research Paper Whenever I see a car wreck, I recall my wreck several years ago that could have very easily cost me my life. Living through that experience has helped me to value every day more than before and may also be the reason I always feel the need to stop and help those on the roadside. Years later I can see that my familys car wreck was a unique event in my life that changed my perception of life. I can still hear the quiet dripping of rain when I awoke on the morning before the accident. The sun was barely breaking through my window s blinds with a yellow and gold glow when I opened my eyes. Glancing at the clock, I saw that it was 8am, and my family was going to a church service as was their usual routine. After dragging myself out of bed and dressing the part, I headed to the kitchen to eat. Steaming stacks of chocolate chip pancakes drizzled with hot maple syrup awaited me. After I had finished eating, I dozed off in the car as I waited for my parents and brother. While I had not stayed up too late to read the night before, I have never been a morning person, so my mind was still foggy when my family entered the car. The car spun three times, then shuddered as the side was crumpled in by a large pine. The window to my right imploded as crystalline stars filled my vision and the world slowed down, then blacked ... In his theory, he adopts the view that a corporation as an entity is just an artificial person defined under the law, and thus can only have artificial responsibility. His major disagreements are with those who hold the position that corporations have social responsibilities (Kaler, 2012, p. 250). In his view, the obligations of a firm are first to the stockholders. As a result, its primary should to maximize the stockholders profits under the set rules and regulations. This obligation should always prevail against others. On social responsibilities of an organization, his views are restricted to the position that only individuals are in a position to be held socially responsible. However, he insists that those individuals in management are employees of the stockholders and thus should only do that which is beneficial to the stockholders and in line with set legal obligation (Kaler, 2012, p. 255). On the other hand, Richard Freeman provides a view that he defines as the stakeholder s theory. By the word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Corporate Strategy as a framework began to be developed in the 60 s and the 70 s where for the first time companies had to think in a systematic and integrated way about their costs, competitors and their customers. In the mid 80 s and beginning of 90 s, corporate strategy started to focus on process engineering, re engineering, thinking more systematically about world wide expansion and therefore globalisation but at the same time it also focused on a more granular aspect and migrated down to the industry by industry. • 26. Strategies For Enhancing Child Development Strategies for Enhancing Child Development Kelcie Roscoe University of Florida Strategies for Enhancing Child Development Many different types of development are important for helping children to be successful through their schooling, and even later on into their lives. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss strategies that I would like to use in my future classroom to help students with their emotional, literacy, cognitive, and social development to help my future students to succeed.Emotional Development To enhance my students emotional development, I think it is very important to help the student develop their ideas of possible selves. Possible selves can either be negative or positive. Negative possible selves are what someone does not want to become, and positive possible selves are what someone wants to become (Cade, 2015b). The objective for teachers is to help students to have balanced possible selves, so they are able to monitor their goals and become who they want to be. Developing balanced possible selves also helps students to be more optimistic and believe that they can change (Oyserman, Bybee, Terry Hart Johnson, 2004). An important thing to do to help students achieve these possible selves is to have students discuss and set goals for what they want to become, and also discuss what they do not want to become. Students also must be able to analyze how they can become their positive possible selves and how to avoid their negative possible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving Omnipresent Death Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first the poem seems to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the fear of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes. The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the speaker is stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Price Of Beauty Essay Angelica Alvarado Professor Stacey English 103 September 14, 2016 The Price of Beauty There s an ongoing, almost always unsaid joke, that women have one million emotions within a twenty four hour period, which is completely opposite from that of a man s day. But has anyone really taken the time to look at what goes into being a woman? It goes without saying that if a woman doesn t know how to contour, or highlight her face, other women will talk down to her and about her when she leaves; men won t even be interested. At the same time, if she does use makeup, but it s not the BEST kind, or highest quality, there s a chastising and condescending tone used during conversation, or an assumption that these women are simple or easily amused . She must not have a lot of money. Poor thing. With so many pressures and expectations a woman has to meet on a day to day basis, can this contribute their stress or lack of self esteem? When a woman wakes up, it s about an hour before she leaves for work. She cakes on a Bare Minerals foundation, Maybelline blush, NYC mascara and her favorite shade of Mac lipstick. Shoot. Only 30 minutes left. She struggles to find a balance between something that s appropriate for the office, but enough to get her noticed as a worker and not a homeless hooker. That s enough blush right? As our research mainly concerns with securing provenance, Section 2.1 will cover provenance data and the standard model of its representation as well as the applications of securing provenance. Section 2.2 introduces graph databases that will be used later in storing provenance in our prototype. Section 2.3 explores workflowsystems and workflow provenance. Section 2.4 illustrates the main security principles that will be tackled in the thesis and inference problem that attacks privacy. Finally, Section 2.5 summarizes the main content of this chapter. 2.1What is provenance? Provenance (aka lineage) is a descriptive metadata (i.e. data about data). It specifies not only the properties of an object but also the history of deriving this object. As provenance touches many different domains and applications, it has different definitions that represent different views of provenance such as Description of the origins of data and the process by which it arrived at the database [20], Metadata recording the process of experiment workflows, annotations, and notes about experiments [50]. The rationale behind provenance has been long established, for example log files and metadata, but the term provenance is recent and it is gaining popularity particularly in workflow systems. Descriptive metadata only becomes part of provenance when one also specifies its relationship to deriving an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 1970s and 1980s, the brand relied heavily on nautical ocean scenes in their commercials and sex appeal. However, after years of success, Old Spice became known as old guys cologne. By the early 1990s, Old Spice s ability to survive and endure over the course of several decades became its downfall. Old Spice had become an icon associated with old men. The younger generation of boys and men mostly recognized Old Spice as something their fathers and grandfathers wore, which resulted in a lack of interest for the product, (Neilly, 2014). Old Spice realized that their traditional nautical themed advertising no longer appealed to their target audience of young men ages 12 34 so they decided to rebrand. Old Spice Man Television Commercials In 2010, Old Spice introduced their latest spokesman the Old Spice Man. With the NFL football player turned actor, Isaiah Mustafa, they created a series of commercials that not only specifically addressed the ladies, but talked about what makes men manly. These advertisements were so successful, they garnered record amounts of YouTube, (Neilly, 2014). Although the kiss in the scene is not a romantic kiss, it captured the love between the two women, not a romantic homosexualised love, but a heteronormal sisterly type of love.
