The Brown V. Board Of Education Essay
The Brown v. Board of Education was a case that was initiated by members of the local NAACP
(National association Advancement of Colored People) organization in Topeka, Kansas where
thirteen parents volunteered to participate of the segregation during school. Parents took their
children to schools in their neighborhoods in the summer of 1950 and attempted to enroll them
for the upcoming school year. All students were refused admission and were forced to attend one
of the four schools in the city for African Americans. For most parents and students, this involved
traveling some distance from their homes. These parents filed suit against the Topeka Board of
Education on behalf of their twenty children. Oliver Brown who was a minister, was the first
parent to suit against the problem, so the case came to be named after his last name. Three local
lawyers, Charles Bledsoe, Charles Scott and John Scott, were assisted by Robert Carter and Jack
Greenberg from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Oliver Brown had declared that
Topeka s racial segregation violated the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause because the city s
black and white schools were not equal to each other and never could be due to the way things
were. The federal district court dismissed his claim, ruling that the segregated public schools were
substantially equal enough to be constitutional under the Plessy case doctrine. Brown appealed to
the Supreme Court, which made it more effective and then

If I Invest My Money Into A Stock
The famous philosopher Plato once stated, Excess generally causes reaction, and produces a
change in the opposite direction, whether it be in the seasons, or in individuals, or in
governments. The inverted u curve has three levels of input; the left side is equivalent to a
sufficient amount, the middle consists of a plateau, and the right side entails too much. The
meaning of an inverted U curve is basically what we in society classify as the highs and lows in
any given situation. For example, in every category of life just to name a few the stock market,
schooling, work, finances, parenting, and health can have extreme benefits that sustain or deficits
in any benefit that lasts long periods of time. There is no guarantee if I invest my... Show more

The impressionist unconventional methods surprised the elite in this circumstance. Second, Boes,
overcoming the odds through mastering compensation learning because of the learning
disadvantages he experienced throughout life his strategies had to be meticulous but yet eccentric
in order to acquire a prestigious job with no experience or education in the field. Consequently,
once again unconventional strategies or methods used by the underdog turned a perceived
disadvantage into an advantage. Hence, reinforcing Gladwells statement that, Giants are not what
we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the sources of
great weakness (10). Comparatively, entering the corporate world as an underdog in a world full

Animal Integumentary System
The integumentary system is the most complex and most visible organ system, it is formed by the
skin, hair, nails and glands that enwraps the body. From the delicate eyelashes to the thick skin of
the soles, the integumentary system protects the body from the outside world and its many harmful
substances. It harness the sun rays and at the same time it prevents the body from the damaging
effects. It also helps to regulate body temperature and serves as a minor excretory organ. The system
make the inner body aware of its outer environment through sensory receptors. Other than human,
animals also have the integumentary system. Though, it has a bit different when it comes to human
being. In animals, their integumentary system includes the outer

The Importance Of Professional Scepticism And Their...
In 2013, the American Accounting Association carried out an annual meeting focusing on the
importance of professional scepticism and their objectivity in the process of auditing. It was stated
that PCAOB professional scepticism is the foundation to the part and function of auditors. It was
thus emphasized that it is necessary for the PCAOB professional standards to make the objectivity
clear and make sure that professional scepticism is expressed in the ability of auditfirms and
workers, the judgement which applied in choosing suitable auditing procedures and conclusion, and
the action of the audit work. It was to make clear that the implantation of professional scepticism is
a foundation to the field of auditing quality and the moral courage of the audit process.
Auditing is the on site authentication activity (Bernhard, 2011), Cascarino (2012) introduced the
objective of auditors, which is to judge if the data is well controlled according to the accuracy
and honesty, therefore to report significant error when spotted. Auditors are divided into three
parties to perform within or out of a company. The first party audit is performed within a firm,
which is to measure the strengths and weakness of the company against the procedures, and
external standards applied. This party of auditors are employed by the company, they are no
necessary to be interested in the result of the part they are being audited. The second party is

Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , by using film techniques such as camera

The Success Of Becoming A Millionaire
What is success exactly? There are so many different variations of how you can achieve success.
Success does not just come in a neat package all wrapped up with a bow on top, sometimes
success requires a struggle. Success can be something small or it can be something big. For
example you could consider getting an A on a test a successor becoming a millionaire a success,
there are different levels of success. One aspect of success that that has not been taken into
consideration, which is in order for you to be successful you must be happy, at least that is what
I believe. Going back to the example of becoming a millionaire, sure you may be happy about
having money at first but soon having all the money in the world will not make a difference to
you. You will go day after day wishing for something more and it probably will be something that
money cannot buy. However if you are happy with your job and how you earned the money that is
a different story, you have succeeded. According to Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary success
is defined as the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.
When I talked to Amy Strawn, who is the children s pastors wife at my church, she had a few
different definitions of what exactly success was. Her first comment was about success within
her faith. Success to me is living my life in a way that is pleasing to God. I want to impact the
most people I can for the Kingdom of Heaven. Success is sharing Jesus in a true and genuine way.

Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality
was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality
was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This
idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gaywas one of the
worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after
the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn
was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as
many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a
place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make
sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it
illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the
transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise
between the nation and the LGBTcommunity was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to
spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role
models to feel inspired to stand up.
Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American
Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and
England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries
on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often
come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example,
The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist,
kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were
subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach
that it had would have ultimately been cut short. The Gay Liberation Front is a prime example

William Shakespeare s Measure For Measure
Name Tutor Course Date Power and Greed In any given society power and greed are often noted
as societal factors that tend to exist together such that one of them influences the other. In
William Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure the two concepts have been clearly depicted
through Lord Angelo and the Duke s action of using their power to win the love of Claudio s
sister, Isabella. Based on the theme of this play, one can argue that leaders sometimes use their
power to influence the lives of others or control a particular agenda. It is represented through
Lord Angelo who uses his manipulative nature for personal gratification with Isabella, revealing
the positive and negative characteristics of his character and exposing the truth of human nature.
The paper discusses the concept of authority and greed to understand how people in authority
use their power to fulfill their personal desires by taking advantage of their position or authority.
Leaders in power use their authority and power for personal gain and attaining of fame. In many
given societies it can be argued that those in power uses their power and authority to manipulate
the law and attain popularity from a particular group. It is clearly demonstrated and argued that
they don t apply the law equally and with justice instead given race or people are favored by that
law and others punished using similar law. When those in power makes mistakes, it has always
been hard for them to be prosecuted by law. In

for the country; it is also to respect others, their background, and their religions. The reason
behind my parent s motivation which lead them to come to Canada was because they wanted to
have a good life and so they could practice their religion freely. In Pakistan, there were too many
life threats which is why they wanted to leave the country as soon as possible.

How Has The World Changed Over Time Essay
There is no doubt that the world has changed over time. New eras of time brought new ideas and
concepts of how day to day life should be lived all over the world. Different countries changed in
different ways at different times, but all still modernized in their owns way. There have been
horrible tragedies and great accomplishments over time, but which is which depends on your
perspective and opinion on what is good and what is bad. Technologyhas come a long way and
most think it is one of our greatest accomplishments and will continue to grow as time goes on.
Others think that it is overpowering our youth and taking over our world. People have become
reliant on all different kinds of technology and can t live everyday life with out using some kind
of technology whether it s a phone, computer, television, tablet, washer or dryer, oven, or a

A Critical Analysis of My Kiowa Grandmother, and
Take My Saddle from the Wall: A Valediction
The essays, My Kiowa Grandmother, by N. Scott Momaday and Take My Saddle from the Wall: A
Valediction, by Larry McMurtry, both seek to understand the values and traditions of an old way of
life that has been lost to the trials and tribulations of time. By reaching back into history through
their families, both authors achieve the same effect, while using starkly contrasting narrative
structure; they show the characteristics that have been lost to younger generations.

McMurtry creates a story about his family, based on their accounts left to him in memoirs and
letters throughout the years. McMurtry s ultimate purpose is to narrate an expressive literary
essay that uses humor and drama to attract the attention of the reader. While discussing cowboys
and their straightforward wisdom, he concludes that cowboys observations turn into aphorisms.
One such aphorism he finds particularly appealing is as follows: A woman s love is like the
morning dew, it s just as likely to fall on a horseturd as on a rose (149). McMurtry also includes a
great deal of drama and suspense as well. At one point, he recalls his grandfather s troublesome
drinking; one day his grandmother issued an ultimatum, sober up or she would leave him. The
threat was undoubtedly made in earnest, and he took it so immediately to heart that he stopped
drinking then and there, with a jug half full of whiskey hanging in the saddle room of the barn (143).
Additionally, a substantial difference between the two essays is the author s view of their
ancestors. McMurtry admits that he never considered genealogy much of an aid to recognition,
and thus never pursued [his] lineage any distance at all (143). On the other hand, Momaday is
very curious of his lineage. So curious in fact that he actually sets out on a fifteen hundred [mile]...
pilgrimage (289) to see where his ancestors began their journey onto the plains. Momaday
describes his ancestors as people of the

Chesapeake And New England Colonies Essay
A community is a group of people who work together towards a common goal and share a
common interest. Lack of such a quality can and most likely will cause a struggling town or city to
fall into the extremes of poverty and wealth. The New England community was so strong and so
supportive in comparison to that of the Chesapeake Bay, that it is no wonder they developed into
two distinctly different cultures before the year 1700. The Chesapeake region developed into a land
of plantations and money driven owners, with the elite wealthy, almost no middle class, and those in
poverty creating the population. New England, on the other hand, had developed into a religion
and family based society comprised of mostly middle class families by 1700.... Show more content

The motives that drove the Pilgrims and Puritans away from anything familiar and the trust they
placed in God only proved that they were going to make their life in the new world work, no
matter what. Not everyone in England was facing a harsh persecution; many travelers came to the
New World with high hopes of money, which led to numerous conflicts. It was a land for the rich
to get richer. Most of the settlers bound for Virginiaand the Southern colonies had a get rich or
die trying type of attitude. The only thing tearing them from home was a flimsy promise of gold
that may or may not be there. The motive of such people is so radically different. There were no
pacts of agreement, no common laws that kept them in a community once landing. This led the
men to never develop any sense of belonging with their fellow men, causing a distinct survival
society by 1700. Every man was for himself. It was a bitter game displaying the survival of the
richest.
The travelers from England that headed for the Chesapeake Bay were predominantly men,
which led to an unbalanced society and lack of wives to promote a family based culture. The
passenger list for one boat had a sex ratio of sixty four men to eleven women. Not only was there
a radical imbalance, only four of the men were above forty, while only eight total were above
thirty (Doc. C). That left fifty six young males headed to a new land with only their self

I propose to provide a report that discusses the feasibility of the hibernation pod used in the science
fiction film Passengers. I will also create a poster and presentation based on the topic I have chosen.
This report will fulfill the requirements for ENGI 2304, Technical Communications.
1.2Background
ENGI 2304 requires a report that analyzes the feasibility of the science used in any science fiction
film. I will focus on the potentiality of hibernation pods in real life, mainly on how it could be made.

Then, I will provide a brief introduction about instances of human hibernation in real life. I will
then provide a plausible method to building one. Based off the information I find in my research,
I will compare the pod in the film and a potential one in real life. I will also explain why the
subject of a hibernation pod should matter to the audience. I will use statistics portrayed by tables
and figures and use images to explain my findings.
With my poster, I will mainly use images and tables. Like my report and final presentation, I will
discuss and compare the hibernation pod in the film and reality. I will use minimal writing and
provide key words in the form of bullet points to convey my findings.

Analysis Of Judith Butler s Performance Acts And Gender...
Judith Butler s article on Performance Acts and Gender Constitution: An Essay in Phenomenology
and Feminist Theory, denotes that gender identity represents a performative accomplishment
induced by social taboo and sanction (Butler 520). Even though Butler s theory on gender
performativity has played an influential role in cultural studies and feminist theory, certain areas of
philosophy provide significant insight into critical social theory. From the perspective of critical
legal thinkers, Butler s idea of performativity is linked with her views on genderand plays an
important role in legality as well as politics. Critical theory in gender performativity presents a
social theory to critique and change the society as opposed to the traditional theory. Similarly,
critical theory has the objective to explore beyond the surface of social life to unveil the
assumptions that limit a proper understanding of how the world functions. The concept of gender
performativity instigated by Butler s book, Gender Trouble, starts by reflecting on the female
identity (Fagot 3). In other words, Butler criticizes the critical approaches to feminism that
influence the idea of identity politics and the notion of female identity. Similarly, the various
approaches seem to ignore the idea that all the various identities come from the effects of
repressive regimes and authority as well as the issues raised by the feminists. The concept of
gender performativity has a social and cultural obligation

Text Messaging
Text messaging is a very controversial subject in our society, possibly even in other cultures.
Some complain that texting is overused and abused while others praise the most recent
developments and upgrades of texting. The pervasive use of text messaging in today s society
has many facets; however, the bad is said to outweigh the good. Any individual s perspective on
the issue will most likely depend on their age group or social class. For example, a fifteen year old
would appreciate the convenience and speed of text messagingbut a fifty year old would most likely
not need the texting function on their cell phone; therefore, the speed and convenience of text
messaging would become irrelevant. Mobile based coordination, as Ling calls... Show more content

The scarcity of understanding among the groups can cause tension, fighting, and even
resentment. The majority of text message conversations are built on forming a response as soon
as you can. No one really notices that the hidden idea behind this general statement can actually
lead to a need for instant gratification. Not only does this necessity cause severe impatience, it
also causes an absence of attention to many things such as school or one s communal life. When
I text during a math or science class where something has to be explained in steps, I lose all of
my focus and do not understand what the teacher is explaining. This most likely occurs in other
types of situations such as business meetings or even dinner dates. Texting while driving has
become the most prevalent cause of traffic accidents in America today. The general finding here
is that the mobile telephone increases reaction time and that it demands that better could be

belief that they can avoid a car accident even though they are more focused on the cell phone

Essay on Major-General James Wolfe
The history books should be re written as to include Major General James Wolfe as one of the
founding fathers of our country. During the Seven years War he served as part of the British
military and was the commander in chief of the British, American, and Highlander forces at the
Battle of Quebec. His plan of attack up the Anse du Foulon to the Plains of Abraham was not only
incredibly daring, but highly effective as it was this decisive move that allowed Wolfes army to

In response Wolfe rebutted with the statement, My commission is at your Highness s disposal, but
I can never consent to be an executioner (Hart, 216). In this act, Wolfe was able to show that one
person can be enthralled with war without being consumed by it entirely.
In previous courses that I have partaken in it had always been told that Captain James Wolfe
was a mad man at the end of his wit, and that his attack at the Anse du Foulon was a last ditch
effort for Wolfe to die with honor on the field of battle. Indeed James Wolfe had his share of
problems. Before being able to rejoice in being promoted to captain of the 4th Foot, he was
passed the grave news that his brother Edward, one year his inferior, had died from the
inclement conditions at Flanders. However, Wolfe was one of the lucky people who understood
death as part of war. Wolfe s main problem was the way that the military was handled by those in
charge. Speaking on the refusal for his leave to Metz to study in artillery, he sent a private letter
in which he described his unhappiness with their (his superiors) decision; They oppose the only
method that can be fallen upon to preserve any knowledge of military affairs in the army. This is a
dreadful mistake and, if obstinately pursued, will disgust a number of good intentions, and preserve
that prevailing ignorance of military affairs that has been so fatal to us in all our undertakings ...

High School Students Drop Out
In the United States alone, 1.2 millions high school students drop out each year. The challenges of
dropping out can be detrimental to a teens future. The long term effects can impact the way they
live and and succeed. Thankfully, a numerous amount of suggestions have been created to make
student s lives easier. Dropping out is caused by a wide variety of reasons, and many different
actions have been taken to improve the overall rates.
Although an abundant number of students believe staying in school is prevalent, there are still
many who drop out for various reasons. According to Why Students Drop Out, The Economical
Pressures That Make Leaving School Unavoidable , Roughly 30 percent of students who drop
out of school between the ages of 16 and 18 are working in a variety of jobs, according to a new
study by the Urban Institute, a nonprofit research group based in Washington, D.C (Rosales, 1).
This is particularly important because people often assume that students who drop out do it out of
lack of integrity. This proves that not all students drop out for the wrong reasons. For instance,
some students who drop out due to working needs many want to stay in school to fulfil their
education, but are unable to because of personal conflicts. Raising a child at such a young age can
play a major role in someone s choice, Nearly one third of teen girls who drop out of high school

First American Industrial Revolution Chapter Summary
The Dawn of Innovation: The First American Industrial Revolution by Charles H. Morris is, simply
put, centered on the nineteenth century in America. The book opens with the lesser known
Shipbiulders War of 1812, which was fought between the Americans and the British and lasted
about two and a half years. The chapter goes on to describe how this war was fought using what the
American industry had at the time, which led to the challenge of cutting corners without
compromising performance. (p. 7) Morris closes the chapter by describing how this forgotten war
essentially spurred industrial growth in the New England area. The next chapter focuses on Great
Britain s industrial rise to power, highlighting topics such as textile production, new... Show more

The chapter describes many new implementations of practices in mills, factories, and other
workplaces. For example, near the beginning of the chapter, Eli Terry s clock designs are
thoroughly described. Terry is a prime example of how the American industry began to seriously
produce technologies without the intricate and expensive hassle of European products. Terry s
clock designs reduced the length of the gear trains inside the clock and moved the gears and
pendulum outside the frame, instead of encasing the entire clock like the older, more expensive
tall clock design. Terry s clock was easier to make, cheaper to produce, smaller, and much easier to
clean and adjust. Chapter three also highlights other people who had similar approaches in
changing their industry of expertise, including textiles and mass production. This approach is also
described in chapter four, titled American Arms: Whitney, North, Blanchard, and Hall, which
focuses for the most part on gun making. It describes the process of making a gun so it shoots
correctly and accurately, and how this process was

–’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal 2.9.
The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly matches the
predicted volume that was calculated for the conical section of the External Tank.
Thus, the total volume of the solids of revolution will match as well.
776.16ПЂ+17.052ПЂ=793.212ПЂ
Since it matches, this further proves that the math is correct and effective.
Solids of Revolution for Orbiter
Sadly, similar to the others, I could not find sufficient data to create a detailed model of the
Orbiter, so all I can attempt is model another cylinder that has equal dimensions.
So, using the formula again:
Volume = ∫_a^bв
–’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal 32.85, since that
is the length of the space shuttle.
The radius will be 3.455 since the diameter is 6.91.
This forms the function y=3.455. The solids of revolutions would look like the following images.
This final value matches the predicted volume for the

In Today’S Global Market, China Is One, If Not The World’S
In today s global market, China is one, if not the world s most important player. When China s
economy is doing well, the majority of the world s economies tend to do the same. When China s
economy is slow, the rest of the world usually follows. At the start of the 2016 year, China s stock
market declined by 7% (Best). Stock markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States quickly
followed the trend. It is clear that when Chinaslows down, its trade partners follow. China affects a
lot of countries. Three examples include oil, commodities, and trade (Best). When there is not a lot

After the war, Mao Zedong took over China in 1949 (BBC History Mao Zedong). Shortly after,
China s influence in the global economy declined. China s involvement in the global economy was
only 5% during his rule (Holodny). This happened as a result from Mao Zedong implementing The
Great Leap Forward in 1958, and the Cultural Revolution in 1966. The Great Leap Forward was an
attempt to modernize China s economy so that it could match up with the economy of the United
States by around 1988 (Trueman). He saw potential growth in agriculture and industry. His
reasoning for choosing agriculture and industry was that one could not blossom without the other.
Agriculture needed industry because they needed the best machinery and equipment to succeed,
while the industry would prosper if it was fed well by agriculture. To do this, the government took
complete control. Schools, tools, retirement homes, entertainment, and healthcare were all provided
by the government (Trueman). This would ensure all the people could work. After the first year,
everything seemed great according to plan. Things would turn around at the start of 1959. In
1959, the government wanted its people to work faster to produce more products. This caused
workers to work long hours every day. Due to the quick production, the goods lacked quality. The
steel that was produced was too weak for construction, which was its intended purpose. Buildings
that were erected would not last

From ( removed HTML ) Overview: This study focuses on a longitudinal study, observing similar
patterns between romantic relationships, peer and family relationships. To do so, those patterns
must be identified before the individual becomes involved with a romantic partner. Boisvert wanted
to know of the patterns displayed n romantic relationships are influenced or reflected on patterns
with family and peer groups (2016). Assessment
In early adolescents romantic relationships become an imperative source of development (Carver et

Due to adolescent curiosity with exploring romantic relationships, similar patterns continue into
their adulthood (Orphinas et al., 2013)
Before the commence of romantic relationships, the relationship of peers and friendship should also
be examined to identify if they have similar patterns as well (Furman Shafer, 2003)

The luring factor of these male magazines is not the jokes, or other information but it is the

Non verbal cues are those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in

includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions,
eye behavior and vocalics.
One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was
included in chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate dressing for
success. Some examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at
flea markets, dressing down is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should

In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether suit and tie or casual are the choice

The beginning of the XX century was marked by the struggle of Iran to maintain the national
independence in the face of Russian and British economic and colonial pressure and to save the
Persian culture. These attempts to preserve and resurrect national consciousness were skilfully
used by the revolutionary politicians in their struggle for power and the majority approval. The
Western idea of nationhood and the sense of belonging to a greater nation with similar linguistic
and racial characteristics were developed in post Napoleonic Europe and became crucial in the
unification of countries such as Italy and Germany whereas in Iran this process have partially

Essay On The Causes Of Obesity In America
American s are suffering from an epidemic today called obesity. Contributors to the obesity
problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity
adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to
Americans over weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major healthproblems
caused by obesity are high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely
to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight. The added fat tissue in the
body creates a need for additional blood to circulate through the body. As a result, of this added
blood flow there is extra pressure on the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on
the artery walls a person s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it
causes the heart to grow larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to squeeze
blood through the heart valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s ability to transport blood
through the blood vessels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overweight people can have a buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries that can lead to
heart disease. In effect, this buildup of plaque can lead to high cholesterol. High cholesterol will

form blood clots that lead to heart diseases. A heart attack can happen when the body cannot
pump enough blood to supply the body in an obese individual. Since, heart attacks, strokes or even
death can be the results of a person suffering from obesity. Being overweight can cause the heart
valves to malfunction. As a result, this malfunction does not allow the valves to close completely
and can lead to heart failure. An individual that is obese is at a higher risk of heart

Is Beowulf a Christian or Pagan Hero? Throughout the story of Beowulf, the great warrior does

god in mind, or does he do it as a Pagan hero, for fame and wealth. In the epic, Beowulf battles

such as the many battles and wars that he fought in. These three monsters are Grendel, Grendel s

Grendel is described as Like a man but mightier than any man. (55) From this, we can assume
that he has a humanoid shape, walks on two legs, has two arms, a head, and a torso, but is taller,
stronger, and mightier than any normal man. He is not described in the text physically, but by
the traits and qualities that he exhibits. One such quote says that he is bearing God s hatred, (30)
and believed in his own strength, not the strength of God, whose love Grendel could not know.
(10) From these two quotes alone, we can infer that Grendel is definitely not Christian, as he does
not have faith in God s strength or help. From other quotes, we can further prove that he is Pagan
by using examples of several Pagan qualities that Grendel shows. From the quotes So set on

murderous, both of which are more Pagan than Christian qualities. Through this information,
Grendel exhibits the Pagan qualities of not believing in the strength of god, but instead believing in

Andy Warhol s Influence on the Art World Essay
When you go to an art show do you understand the symbolic interpretation of the pieces? Don t feel

When I think about interpretation of art I think of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol s use of iconography
changed not only the art world but the people who came into contact with his art. Once you
understand his life and art, you will understand his art as a symbolic representation. Andy Warhol
(Andrew Warhola) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1928. His parents were Julia

His early paintings had an unconventional, unique, and unfinished look about them. The images
were known to everyone in everyday life. I was looking at a bunch of Warhol s paintings and I
was confused. I was just staring at them and I m thinking why don t you look like a Warhol?
Then I realize that these paintings are from when he was younger. This was before he defined
his aesthetic. I believe this was his discovering phase then he goes into his silk screening phase.
Andy Warhol used current icons from the world for his work. One of the famous icons was the
Campbell s soup can. In 1962 Warhol displayed his Campbell s soup piece, one canvas for each
32 types of Campbell s soup. In 1960, Warhol began producing his first canvases, which he based
on comic strip subjects. In 1961, he started using the method of silk screening. Silk screening
starts with a stencil drawing then transferred with glue onto silk. Warhol s first silkscreen was
Campbell s Soup cans. Campbell s Soup was an icon in the 1960s that gave you a sense of
comfort. In spite of that, Warhol s Soup Can paintings were to provoke concern about value. At
first glance it may seem like a joke but it s actually a sophisticated and thought provoking artistic

about appearance. Appearance describes one s personality, strength, and gives them an honorable

sacrifice their lives in order to save others. Unlike anti heroes, like Macomber,... Show more content

We can see this happening when the narrator describes Maycomber. Maycomber is very tall,
very well built if you do not mind that length of bone...He is also very good at court games
(Hemingway 122). This quote shows that Maycomber is very fit and strongly built, but despite
his strength, in reality he is really a coward as described in paragraph above. He focuses more on
being the person who he looks like to be than what he actually is; a coward. Unlike superman
who does not focus at all about his strength. When maturity was reached, he discovered that he
could easily: raise tremendous weight (Siegel 4). This illustrates how superman is strong to the
public s eye, but in reality he is also a coward. Be reasonable Lois. Dance with the fellow and
then we ll leave right away (Siegel 10). Despite the fact that superman may be similar with
Maycomber, Superman still save people s lives, instead of trying to keep glory like Macomber.
With great strength, Superman uses it both as Superman and Clark Kent to save lives. Macomber
uses his strength as a way to show people that he is strong and not actually demonstrating it in the
story, again, showing us that heroes does not care much about appearance, they rather care about

Australopithecus Morphology
There are many traits to look at when figuring out which hominin species a mandible belongs to.
These traits include: relative size of the anterior and posterior teeth, dental arcade shape,
morphology of the corpus, and presence or absence of molarized premolars, a simian shelf, a chin
and a retromolar space. These are the hominins that will be depicted in this article: Ardipithecus
(Ar.) ramidus, Australopithecus (Au.) afarensis, Au. africanus, Au. boisei, Au. robustus, Homo (H.)
habilis, H. erectus, H. neanderthalensis (neanderthals), H. sapiens (humans). To begin, let s
establish a background on what all the traits are and why they are important in evolution. First, the
relative size of the anterior and posterior teeth is the size of the anterior (front) teeth compared to
the posterior (back) teeth. If the posterior teeth seem to be significantly larger, it could suggest that
they consumed more mechanically challenging foods and it could also mean that they developed a
more parabolic dental arcade. The dental arcade is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This developed as a consequence of the midfacial prognathism, or the projection of the mandible,
being present. Another trait that is unique to humans, even though few neanderthals possessed it is
the presence of a chin. The mandible that is to be identified has similar sizes of anterior and
posterior teeth, a parabolic dental arcade shape, an intermediate thickness of the corpus, an
absence of molarized premolars, no simian shelf, and an absence of a chin and retromolar space.
Using our knowledge of these traits, we can proceed to figure out which hominin this mandible is

Field officers/Loan officers are the face of the organization. They are the ones who regularly visit
underprivileged in villages and assist them to work their way out of poverty. In a vast country
such as India which has many geographical and infrastructure challenges it is essential that field
officers spend most of their time in the field. However, 30% of their valuable time is lost in
essential paper work involved in the field, data entry and other administrative tasks.
In order to relieve them from these cumbersome and error prone tasks, SKS has embarked on a
business transformation model that streamlines the field operations. As a part of digitization, SKS
has provided tabs that work exclusively offline. Applications deployed on the tab are customized,
secured and encrypted with international standards. The SM just needs to sync the tab with the
desktop to get his mundane tasks done in seconds. As a result, he is now able to save much of the
needed time, which is now being used to visit more villages and uplift households. In addition, SKS
is able to cut administrative costs significantly.

Internal Conflict In The Black Cat
Black cats, animal abuse, schizophrenia, a fire and murder, Edgar Allan Poe s The Black Cat
checks all the boxes for a dark romantic piece of literature. The focus is taken off of the grotesque
details of abuse and murder but shifted towards the narrator s inner conflict. Poe s obsession with
exploring the human psyche is prevalent in this short story. Readers struggle to understand the
logic, if any, behind the actions of the unreliable narrator as he grapples with his own mind, or a
supernatural force. Edgar Allan Poecombines internal conflict and symbolism to express the theme
of transformation from innocence to evil and introduce a schizophrenic mindset that cannot
comprehend reality from supernatural occurrences. A descent into madness... Show more content on

Edgar Allan Poe s use of symbolism in The Black Cat subtly hints at the supernatural aspect of
the story. The Evil Eye which plagued the protagonist of The Tell Tale Heart makes a
reappearance. Both Pluto and the second black cat have only one eye, and the narrator describes
the second black cat s solitary eye of fire (Poe 401) as he alarmed the investigators of the corpse
in the tomb. The narrator s claim of love for Pluto and the subsequent black cat developing into
blind hatred and blame placed on them also mirrors the protagonist in The Tell Tale Heart. The
narrator blames the cats for his affliction. Pluto signifies innocence, disfigured and eventually
murdered by the narrator at the beginning of his spiral into madness. Pluto s Evil Eye is quickly
destroyed by the narrator, but is replaced with the phantasm. The phantasm haunts the narrator,
appearing after the house burns down and destroys his wealth. The phantasm also appears on the
second black cat s chest, tormenting the narrator with a reminder of his first murder. The second
black cat is the narrator s shot at redemption. His similarity to Pluto and willingness to endure the
narrator s abuse gave him a chance to redeem his innocence. Once the protagonist commited the
murder of his wife, the black cat gave up on him. Although the cats represent innocence and
redemption, the narrator s

  • 2. The Brown V. Board Of Education Essay The Brown v. Board of Education was a case that was initiated by members of the local NAACP (National association Advancement of Colored People) organization in Topeka, Kansas where thirteen parents volunteered to participate of the segregation during school. Parents took their children to schools in their neighborhoods in the summer of 1950 and attempted to enroll them for the upcoming school year. All students were refused admission and were forced to attend one of the four schools in the city for African Americans. For most parents and students, this involved traveling some distance from their homes. These parents filed suit against the Topeka Board of Education on behalf of their twenty children. Oliver Brown who was a minister, was the first parent to suit against the problem, so the case came to be named after his last name. Three local lawyers, Charles Bledsoe, Charles Scott and John Scott, were assisted by Robert Carter and Jack Greenberg from the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Oliver Brown had declared that Topeka s racial segregation violated the Constitution s Equal Protection Clause because the city s black and white schools were not equal to each other and never could be due to the way things were. The federal district court dismissed his claim, ruling that the segregated public schools were substantially equal enough to be constitutional under the Plessy case doctrine. Brown appealed to the Supreme Court, which made it more effective and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If I Invest My Money Into A Stock The famous philosopher Plato once stated, Excess generally causes reaction, and produces a change in the opposite direction, whether it be in the seasons, or in individuals, or in governments. The inverted u curve has three levels of input; the left side is equivalent to a sufficient amount, the middle consists of a plateau, and the right side entails too much. The meaning of an inverted U curve is basically what we in society classify as the highs and lows in any given situation. For example, in every category of life just to name a few the stock market, schooling, work, finances, parenting, and health can have extreme benefits that sustain or deficits in any benefit that lasts long periods of time. Second, Boes, overcoming the odds through mastering compensation learning because of the learning disadvantages he experienced throughout life his strategies had to be meticulous but yet eccentric in order to acquire a prestigious job with no experience or education in the field. Consequently, once again unconventional strategies or methods used by the underdog turned a perceived disadvantage into an advantage. Hence, reinforcing Gladwells statement that, Giants are not what we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the sources of great weakness (10). Comparatively, entering the corporate world as an underdog in a world full of giants with no more than a GED as my education level; I also had to create a coping strategy to compete and achieve success. One aspect of success that that has not been taken into consideration, which is in order for you to be successful you must be happy, at least that is what I believe. Going back to the example of becoming a millionaire, sure you may be happy about having money at first but soon having all the money in the world will not make a difference to you. You will go day after day wishing for something more and it probably will be something that money cannot buy. However if you are happy with your job and how you earned the money that is a different story, you have succeeded. When I talked to Amy Strawn, who is the children s pastors wife at my church, she had a few different definitions of what exactly success was. Her first comment was about success within her faith. • 9. Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gaywas one of the worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBTcommunity was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up. Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately been cut short. William Shakespeare s Measure For Measure Name Tutor Course Date Power and Greed In any given society power and greed are often noted as societal factors that tend to exist together such that one of them influences the other. In William Shakespeare s play, Measure for Measure the two concepts have been clearly depicted through Lord Angelo and the Duke s action of using their power to win the love of Claudio s sister, Isabella. Based on the theme of this play, one can argue that leaders sometimes use their power to influence the lives of others or control a particular agenda. It is represented through Lord Angelo who uses his manipulative nature for personal gratification with Isabella, revealing the positive and negative characteristics of his character and exposing the truth of human nature. The paper discusses the concept of authority and greed to understand how people in authority use their power to fulfill their personal desires by taking advantage of their position or authority. Leaders in power use their authority and power for personal gain and attaining of fame. McMurtry s ultimate purpose is to narrate an expressive literary essay that uses humor and drama to attract the attention of the reader. One such aphorism he finds particularly appealing is as follows: A woman s love is like the morning dew, it s just as likely to fall on a horseturd as on a rose (149). McMurtry also includes a great deal of drama and suspense as well. At one point, he recalls his grandfather s troublesome drinking; one day his grandmother issued an ultimatum, sober up or she would leave him. The threat was undoubtedly made in earnest, and he took it so immediately to heart that he stopped drinking then and there, with a jug half full of whiskey hanging in the saddle room of the barn (143). The New England community was so strong and so supportive in comparison to that of the Chesapeake Bay, that it is no wonder they developed into two distinctly different cultures before the year 1700. The Chesapeake region developed into a land of plantations and money driven owners, with the elite wealthy, almost no middle class, and those in poverty creating the population. Most of the settlers bound for Virginiaand the Southern colonies had a get rich or die trying type of attitude. The only thing tearing them from home was a flimsy promise of gold that may or may not be there. The motive of such people is so radically different. There were no pacts of agreement, no common laws that kept them in a community once landing. It was a bitter game displaying the survival of the richest. The travelers from England that headed for the Chesapeake Bay were predominantly men, which led to an unbalanced society and lack of wives to promote a family based culture. Judith Butler s article on Performance Acts and Gender Constitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory, denotes that gender identity represents a performative accomplishment induced by social taboo and sanction (Butler 520). Even though Butler s theory on gender performativity has played an influential role in cultural studies and feminist theory, certain areas of philosophy provide significant insight into critical social theory. From the perspective of critical legal thinkers, Butler s idea of performativity is linked with her views on genderand plays an important role in legality as well as politics. Critical theory in gender performativity presents a social theory to critique and change the society as opposed to the traditional theory. Similarly, critical theory has the objective to explore beyond the surface of social life to unveil the assumptions that limit a proper understanding of how the world functions. The concept of gender performativity instigated by Butler s book, Gender Trouble, starts by reflecting on the female identity (Fagot 3). In other words, Butler criticizes the critical approaches to feminism that influence the idea of identity politics and the notion of female identity. In previous courses that I have partaken in it had always been told that Captain James Wolfe was a mad man at the end of his wit, and that his attack at the Anse du Foulon was a last ditch effort for Wolfe to die with honor on the field of battle. Contributors to the obesity problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to Americans over weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major healthproblems caused by obesity are high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight.
