Mr. Grudem s Argument Against Racism
I ve read this and been thinking about it. Here is my response to this the editorial. First of all, OF
COURSE Christians should try to influence elections... so should everyone else! My concern about
the focus is that so often it seems that the Christians Mr. Grudem is trying to influence try to tie
their political opinions, policy positions, and those whom they support with their religion. I very
rarely see this link as being positive; typically it is short sighted and replaces critical thinking of far
sighted potential ramifications of a policy to blind obedience to a faith based system of thought.
That is not healthy, and it is certainly not Christianity. So I agree with the principle, but I am
reading something sinister between the lines. Paranoia on my part? Possibly, but recent history of
certain religious groups selling out to a certain political party suggest otherwise.
His basis for voting for flawed candidate is, in fact, a good one in my opinion. Since all people
are flawed in many respects, then it is incumbent to look at the flaws and decide if one person may
be more beneficial to the life of a nation than the other flawed candidate. Honestly, who ... Show

Grudem then cleverly dismisses some of Trump s accusations as... the printings of a hostile
media! In an incredible sleight of hand, he offers up his business conduct as a defense against
racism (forget about what he says... really?), being anti immigrant (hell, he has been in trouble for
hiring illegal immigrants in the past, and don t worry, walls solve everything anyway), and
misogynistic (again, Trump has expounded in great detail his contempt for women (at least those
who stand against his ideals), but don t listen, look at his business deals.) I think we should look at
his business deals, but when they show what we would expect to see from a person who is
egotistical, bombastic, brash, vindictive, and unfaithful, Mr. Grudem will simply do a little
gymnastics and explain why this shouldn t worry

The Organisational Structure Of Kc And KFC
In 1930 KFC was launched and the mission was to provide quality, service and cleanliness (QSC) to
the customers and consumers. Competition level was very low in the industry particularly in the
domestic market. KFC growth was good in its initial decades but with the increasing competition in
the domestic market the cake size started squeezing. Popeye s, the major competitor for KFC, was
born in 1972 which comes second with a share (12.7%) and KFC (55.2%). Organizational behavior:
Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface
between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. Organizational structure:

Organizational structure allows the expressed allocation of responsibilities for different functions

operating procedure and routine rest. Secondly it determines which individual get to participate in
which decision making processes and thus to what extent their views shape the organization

How Azure Is A Cloud Computing Platform And Infrastructure...
Azure is a Cloud computing platform and infrastructure provided by Microsoft Corporation for
building, deploying and managing a large range of services throughout the world.
WebApps is one part of the services Microsoft provides in the category of Platform as a Service
(PaaS), this will help to deploy websites without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. The
underlying infrastructure will be taken care by Microsoft Support Team itself. The pricing will be
based on the computing, storage, data transfer speed etc.
Why One should go to Azure WebApps?
The very obvious question is why we move if our application is running well without any issue?
Answers can be by moving to PaaS (WebApps) we gain following:
No operation costs: Since WebApps will be provided as PaaS, no server security patching,
maintenance are required, all will be done by Microsoft Support Team itself.
No more hardware costs: In on prem hosted services you need to retire outdated hardware on time
to time, but with moving to Cloud no more hardware purchase required.
Pay as per the usage: Pricing will be calculated on usage based only, and not for the overall
infrastructure your service has been deployed.
Scale Out or Scale UP as needed: Suppose you expected that on festive occasion your site going
to handle more requests, you can easily scale out the instances of the service for more requests,
and once requests come into normal it can be down graded. Scale up helps to boost the service

Benefits Of Owning Your Own Business
Making Sure That Your Business is Properly Insured
Owning your own business can be a very rewarding experience, providing a way to engage your
passion, while also offering a way to make a comfortable living. However, owning a business
leaves you in a position in which you will have a lot that you will be responsible for protecting.
Purchasing business insurance in Texas is one of the most viable ways to protect your business
from a number of risks; however, there are numerous types of business insurance policies that can
be purchased, and it is immensely important for business owners to have a lucid understanding of
what each policy has to offer.
Although there are a wide variety of types of business insurance in Texas, the problem is that it
can be difficult to understand which types of coverages are best suited for a specific type of
business. Following, is a synopsis of different common coverages and how they protect a business.
Depending on the type of business you own and specific needs of that business, the type business
insurance in Texas that you purchase will vary.
Property Coverage
One of the most obvious reasons that a business owner would seek small business insurance in
Texas would be to protect any tangible assets that they have amassed for and through the business,
including tools, merchandise and inventory. For example, a fire could literally destroy a brick and
mortar business s ability to function in any capacity, destroying merchandise and rendering

Liberal News Media Analysis
News sources are networks where many people are informed about important news event. Being
liberal bias about news networks is to be open to new opinions about an event and sometimes
can be given false information or misinterpretation about it. Having a conservative view about
the news is still having to hold to certain beliefs and values and being cautious about what
changes are happening. Many people get news from the six powers house news networks that
are either liberal or conservative. CBS, ABC, and NBC were the only news networks, since
1948, where people were able to get the recent news happening and are now considered the
mainstream news channels which also have a liberal view about the news. CNN, MSNBC, and
CNBC are the news networks that run in cable tv and are considered ultra... Show more content on

These cable news started in the 1980s because the mainstream news did not get all the
information out and were not telling the whole truth. Later in 1996, FOX News started and
became really popular because of being both liberal and conservative and were considered the
truth seekers. FOX News decided to become a news network because since all the other six news
networks were not telling the whole truth, Fox decided to get the information and tell the truth
without lying and getting everything out. Before cable news, the mainstream news networks were
the only channels where many people get the news. All three news networks talk about the same
event happening currently, but not all will have the same details and have different information
and sometimes that information is not truth or correct because these news sources want to be the
first ones to get the news on air for people to view and at times leave out the main focus of the
occurrence. ABC, CBS, and NBC are liberal bias and at times misinterpreted the news and give
false information. According to an online timeline of the television in the

Blockbuster Case
Blockbuster Video Everyone remembers Blockbuster Video for the weekends that they rented
videos to watch at home with the family. Families would pile in on Friday nights to try and get the
newly released video to take home and enjoy. But that all changed in 2010 when the company filed
bankruptcy. The company closed stores and finally was sold to another business due to the
changing technology and competition in providing service to the customers. Could they have
changed the brand before it was too late or did they just try to implement the change too late in the
game? One thing is for sure, Blockbuster stills exist through DISH Network. To understand what

hinted they could copy Netflix and crush the upstart. (Gandel Dallas, 2010) They could have
started to reshape the business yet they did try to offer their customers a mailing service towards
the end but that was definitely too late at that point. The company could have structured the
company based on the increased use of online components. But the company had gone too far over

Learner Autonomy
What is Learner Autonomy and How Can It Be Fostered?
Dimitrios Thanasoulas
The Internet TESL Journal
2. What is Autonomy?
For a definition of autonomy, we might quote Holec (1981: 3, cited in Benson Voller, 1997: 1)
who describes it as the ability to take charge of one s learning . On a general note, the term
autonomy has come to be used in at least five ways (see Benson Voller, 1997: 2): for situations in
which learners study entirely on their own; for a set of skills which can be learned and applied in
self directed learning; for an inborn capacity which is suppressed by institutional education; for the
exercise of learners responsibility for their own learning; for the right of ... Show more content on

This stands to reason, for most of the characteristics imputed to the autonomous learner
encapsulate a wide range of attributes not commonly associated with learners. For instance,
Benn (1976, cited in Candy, 1991: 102) likens the autonomous learner to one [w]hose life has a
consistency that derives from a coherent set of beliefs, values, and principles [and who engages
in a] still continuing process of criticism and re evaluation , while Rousseau ([1762] 1911, cited
in Candy, 1991: 102) regards the autonomous learner as someone who is obedient to a law that
he prescribes to himself . Within the context of education, though, there seem to be seven main
attributes characterising autonomous learners (see Omaggio, 1978, cited in Wenden, 1998: 41
42): 1. Autonomous learners have insights into their learning styles and strategies; 2. take an
active approach to the learning task at hand; 3. are willing to take risks, i.e., to communicate in
the target language at all costs; 4. are good guessers; 5. attend to form as well as to content, that
is, place importance on accuracy as well as appropriacy; 6. develop the target language into a
separate reference system and are willing to revise and reject hypotheses and rules that do not
apply; and 7. have a tolerant and outgoing approach to the target language.
Here, some comments with respect to the preceding list are called for. The points briefly touched

Mistaken Identity In Alfred Hitchcock s North By Northwest
Stirring and innovative, Alfred Hitchcock s 1959 thriller North by Northwest is a meticulous and
mysterious tale of mistaken identity. Starring one of the most prominent and suave leading actors
in classic Hollywood, North by Northwest depicts Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill a New York hot
shot mistaken for the enigmatic George Kaplan . Furthermore, the film follows his quest to clear
his name and intercept the devious plan of a secret consortium that aims to discredit the US
Government. The shot from 14:25 to 14:45 makes use of lighting and camera techniques to
foreshadow Thornhill s involvement with the law, the enigmatic Vandamm and his devious cronies.

Paul Armentano talked about if there should be limits on the amount of cannabinoids in a person s
bodily system when they drive a motor vehicle. The article was published by the Humboldt Journal
Of Social Relations. This journal went on to discuss that THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid
however, that it can stay in your system longer than you are actually under the high. (Armentano,
2013). However, unlike in the case of alcohol, these peaks THC/blood levels do not typically
correspond with a subject s maximum level of behavioral impairment. In a clinical setting, it has
been documented that subjects exhibit little psychomotor impairment during the initial fifteen

According to a Cato Institute study done by Jeffery Miron and Katherine Waldock discussed the
impact to the budget if the government were to legalize drugs and to end the prohibition of the
substances. The study estimates that approximately 41 billion would be saved by the
government while drug legalization would see an increase in revenue of about 43 billion
dollars. (Miron, 2010). In order to come up with these numbers they looked at the amount of
people getting arrested for drug use and found that 82.5 percent of all drug related arrests were
only for simple possession and of those 82.5 percent of arrests 42.1 percent were just for people
arrested for marijuana. (Miron, 2010) However, if the United States were to just legalize
marijuana, it would still reduce the prison rates and would still bring in close to 20 billion dollars
in saved and earned revenue from the legalization. It seems to me that the most fiscally responsible
governmental action people can take is to legalize the sale and use of

Have a minute? Good. Because that may be all it takes to learn about Vikings and blacksmithing.
Vikings killed numerous bishops, monks, and priest no matter what age they were. And for every
fatality, they each had a weapon to strike fear in the christians. Yet such weapons were crafted by a
hand of a Viking, however, blacksmiths not only made weapons they also crafted jewelry, tools,
decorations, andnails. Vikings attacked and looted monasteries and the town, where they looted
vast amounts of gold and other valuable objects. While the Vikings were often portrayed as violent

however, iron was a stronger metal and was simple enough to get (Morette, Procter, Ryder, and

metals was coal; mostly, blacksmiths used various kinds of tools such as; hammers were used
for bending or shaping of other metals, tongs were used for lifting hot metals, shears were used
for cutting, moulds an outline for weapons or other tools, wedges were used for splitting or
holding, and an anvil that is used for a flat surface for metals (Jones, P.g 48), and the vikings also
made horseshoes. In the article, The Evolution of Materials in Arms and Armors: The Viking Seax

American West Art
On Tuesday we took a trip to the Chrysler Museum to view the Branding the American West
exhibit. In this exhibit it had a wide selection of Art types which we had a guide take us around
to view them. While I was there I was surprised to see a more variety of art than I thought I
would see. I saw television art that was made by a Korean man, A glass hamburger with fries
and a Pepsi; this one was the most interesting to me because I had never seen art like that in my
life. Another cool thing is that most of the art here at the exhibit had descriptions by them to let
you know what the art means and who the artist were. However, their is one piece of art that I
liked the most and that one is the Pima Basket. in this work of art you see a Native American
woman making bowls and a fire where she makes the pot a solid so they are able to use it for their
needs. It also shows the respect that the White painter has toward the Native American culture.
What this work of art suggest about the American West as a place was that it was a diverse group
of people who lived there. Native Americans, Settlers and many others. This painting also shows
the amount of respect that the people on the west coast had for each other. As a brand the American

that this work of art raise for me about the time period of the American West are what more many
different art styles did people make during that time period. Their were a lot of painters, sculptors
and people who did pottery in the American West and sometimes people who had those different
talents would come together and make cool types of

Genetic Causes
Genetic Causes
A person s genetic structure, passed on from their parents, is responsible for both their physical and
behavioral characteristics. People who have inherited genes responsible for alcoholism from their
parents will automatically be prone to addiction. There is not one single gene that passes alcoholism
down through one s children. Identifying each specific gene involved in alcoholism is almost
impossible, instead, studies have shown that certain gene combinations have a strong relationship
with alcoholic disorders. However, some studies have shown that certain combinations of different
genes can create a relationship with alcohol addiction.
Alcoholism is a medical diagnosis. As such it does not apply merely to heavy drinking, or merely
to getting into trouble because of drinking, or getting drunk a specified number of times. The
diagnosis of alcoholism applies only to those who manifest the symptoms of addiction. (Keller
1982). Some behavioral genes can also be passed down from one s parents. Those genes could
influence a propensity for alcoholism in an individual. Mental and behavioral illnesses include
some like depression and schizophrenia. The latter illness is more common in people that have a
familial history that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Myrtle Beach Vacation
Have you ever wondered what Myrtle Beach has to offer for its tourists? Well I m about to tell
you. Every year I go on vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a week. We usually leave a
few days after Christmas and come back a few days after New Years. I go with my grandma,
grandpa, aunt, uncle, and some of my cousins. We have been going on this vacation for about six
years, but at first it only started out as us going down for the weekend. The first two years we
went to Myrtle Beach it was just me and my grandma and grandpa, but after that year some more
of my familystarted to come down with us. This past year I had to wake up around 5 o clock so
that I could get ready in time to leave early. The first thing I did was take a shower, then I
finished packing my bags, and finally I got ready to leave. My grandma came and picked me up
around 5:45 and we headed to her house. Once, we got to her house my grandpa was in the
motor home and ready to go. We loaded the rest of the bags into the motor home and then we
were on our way. After a long 5 hour drive (that I slept during most of) we made it to our
destination. Once, we arrived at the Myrtle Beach State ParkCampground we parked and hooked
up the electricity and water to the motor home. When we arrived my aunt and uncle were already
there and hooked up. When we were all straight, we headed to Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse. This

Duckweed Research Paper
Duckweed is a simple, small aquatic flowering plant that grows in colonies, which form dense
coverings on water surfaces. They are one of the most vigorously growing plants on Earth. There
are many types of duckweed, but throughout this experiment the Lemna trisulca type of duckweed
was used. Each leaf of the duckweed plantis called a frond and a colony is called a Microcosm.
The fronds are a vibrant, green color when they are living, but they are white when they are
dead. Duckweed is an important plant because it grows rapidly in ideal conditions. It floats on
water surfaces, making it easy to harvest. In addition, the tissue is soft so it can be processed

The data collected shows that over time, the duckweed will die if it is placed in soap water. The
duckweed growth decreases by a small amount in D.I. water, as well. Both the number of fronds
and the total frond area decreases or falls to zero after a period of time, when duckweed is grown
in soap contaminated water. Overall, the frond number and total frond area for duckweed grown
in D.I. water falls slightly. This data supports the alternative hypothesis that if the duckweed is
placed in water contaminated with soap, then the growth and number of duckweed fronds will
decrease. This decrease in growth from contamination occurs because duckweed needs the proper
nutrients to grow and prosper. In addition, duckweed will die in soap contaminated water because
it is not adept to grow in such conditions. The duckweed grew slowly or not at all in the D.I.
water because they may not have received enough sunlight over the time period. The window may
not have let the necessary amounts of light in for the plants to survive. Another reason for the
decrease in growth of the duckweed in D.I. water could be that the initial colonies were not strong
enough to survive on their own. They may have been damaged before they were placed into the

Gallipoli Mission Command Analysis
Mission Command: Anzac Cove Landing The Battle of Gallipoli, or the Gallipoli Campaign, was
fought during the First World War. It is known by either name because the Battle of Gallipoli
featured many different battles and phases that comprised the entirety of the campaign. This
engagement began on February 17, 1915 and ended on January 9, 1916. The Allied forces were
tasked with attempting to secure the strait. The purpose of this was twofold: first, it provided the
Russian Empire with much needed shipping access, and second, it would serve to cut the Ottoman
Empire in half. The Allies also planned to capture the capital of the Ottoman Empire during this
operation. The British and the French attempted to launch a combined naval offensive... Show more

He was placed in command of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Prior to the landings
on the Gallipoli peninsula, the general decided to split his forces. As Powles described: The
New Zealand and Australian Division normally also had two mounted brigades assigned to it,
but these had been left in Egypt, as it was believed there would be no requirement or
opportunities to use mounted troops on the peninsula. (Powles, 1922) This is an example of
accepting prudent risk. However, here, the general made a poor choice because he could have
utilized those brigades had they dismounted upon landing. The accounts of why he made this
particular decision vary greatly. Some historians believe he did it because he did not have the
resources to transport the troops from Egypt to Turkey. Other accounts argue that he did not
believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind the choice, the
general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. The landing at Anzac Cove was set to
send the 1st Australian Division ashore first. Their task was to establish strong points on Gun
Ridge, and the purpose behind this pass the 3rd Infantry Brigade in order to facilitate their capture
of the remainder of Gun Ridge. Then, with the capture of Gun Ridge, the 2nd Infantry Brigade
would execute a forward passage of lines to capture of the high ground of Sari Bair. Looking at this

Drug Issues Among Teens
According to Dr. Manny Alvarez in his article, teenage drug use in America is becoming an
epidemic and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. In his article titled, Teen drug abuse
becoming an epidemic, must be addressed, he mention about two of the most abused drugs among
the teenagers of this country. He said that the two most common drugsbeing used by teenagers are
Marijuana also known by its street name Weed and Pain Killers. The article offered some decent
explanation as to why the drug use is problematic. It was stated in the article that, A report
released Wednesday by The Partnership at Drugfree.org showed that heavy marijuana use among
teenagers is up 80 percent, with one in 10 teens reporting that they use the drug at least 20 times a
month. As it s stated in the numbers, an increase of 80% in anything is a pretty huge dramatic
turn. An 80% increase in the use of marijuana; not just the use of it in a recreational way, but also
a heavy use of it. It also stated above that one in ten teens reported to be using this drug at least 20
times in a month.
Also in the article was another drug that causes concern to our teenager s futures, Painkiller. In the
article, Painkiller was mostly emphasized on because it was more harmful in my opinion than
marijuana. The article informed the reader that in 2010, over 5.1 million people in the United
States took painkillers without any medical reasons or use. The article by Dr. Alvarez says that,

Child Labor Is A Harmful Problem In The World
With an estimated 150 million children ages five to fourteen working, child labor is a serious
problem in many of the world s poorest countries (Americans Attitudes, 2017). Constrained to work
long hours in hazardous jobs, numerous children in poverty have little alternatives but to work to
help bolster their families. Aside from the physical risk these children face, their prospects for
rising from povertyare greatly weakened, as without an education, they have little hope of
developing the skills they need (Americans Attitudes, 2017). You might not think that you are
remotely connected to child labor. You may reason that it occurs only in other countries and it is
illegal where you live but you are wrong. In fact, many items used in today s world have been
picked or crafted by child workers. As consumers, we shouldn t support companies that endorse
child labor.
To understand why child labor is still relevant and how we, as consumers, can help stop it, we
must understand the forces behind it. Because child labor is such a complex issue with a variety of
indirect and direct causes, there is no single factor that can explain child labor practices in
developing countries. Poverty is the most common cause of child labor, but besides that, there are
many unintended factors that cause it. The main causes are uneducated parents who are more likely
to consider education insignificant, social structure of the community that has been tolerant

Vertical Value Chain Benefits
Hosting your own in house vertical value chain has many benefits for a business like ECCO.
ECCO s many facilities in different countries can take advantage of local resources and expertise
in different areas like the leather research center in Denmark. Another benefit is being able to
oversee operations and produce products faster. Inventory can be controlled efficiently, meaning
that ECCO can wait longer to produce items to match market mean due to how long it would take
to place an order with an outsourced manufacturer and to receive that order to deliver to customers.
Vertical Value Chain Cons
The main negative for ECCO in having an integrated vertical value chain is increased costs over
competitors. For most shoe companies, the cheapest option is to outsource manufacturing, which is
what most of ECCO s competitors have done. Another con of keeping production within the
company is that when no competition is present, often production is slow and inefficient.
Managing the cons is vital for ECCO, which they have been able to do.

of Balaclava . The Battle of Balaclava was fought by the Russian Empire against Britain, France,
the Kingdom of Sardinia, and the Ottoman Empire. It emphasizes the bravery of the horseman,
the use of language by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and the dedication/loyalty of the soldiers. The
poem emphasizes the bravery of the horseman. Tennyson wrote, Their not to make reply/ Theirs
not to reason why/ Their but to do and die/ Into the valley of Death/ Rode the six (Tennyson 93).
The soldiers still charged forward to fight, knowing that they could die. Russell wrote, At the
distance of 1200 yards the whole line of the enemy belched forth, from thirty iron mouths, a flood
of smoke and flame, through which hissed the deadly balls (Russell 89). Even though the soldiers
see all that is happening, they still confidently go on. Not afraid of what is going to happening to

Sn2 Reaction Lab Report
Pronin, Reiher, and Shenvi provide a shortcut to produce compounds with tertiary alkylisonitriles or
tertiary alkylamines from tertiary alcohols through a transformation similar to a Sn2 reaction. This
could make it easier to synthesize natural products that have anticancer, antimalarial, or antifungal
properties. In a Sn2 reaction, a nucleophile displaces a leaving group so that the substrate s
stereochemistry is flipped. The structural flip could change a compound s chemical properties. This
cannot take place on tertiary carbons because triply substituted carbon electrophiles are too crowded
for the Sn2 reaction s backside attack. This method transforms tertiary alcohols into tertiary
alkylisonitriles while inverting the stereochemistry. In this method, a special acid catalyst and a
nitrogen containing molecule, a derivative of cyanide is used. The special acid catalyst is scandium
(III) trifluoromethansulfate. The acid helps detach a fluorous functional group from one side of the
central carbon and then nitrogen forms a new bond on the other side. The substrate alcohol is...

Anti Fascism Essay
Antifa is a far left, extra parliamentary, and anti fascist organization with a history that dates back a
century. Anti fascist groups emerged as a response to fascism, driven to resist fascist control by any
means necessary, and view any manifestation of fascism as a potential virus that must be stopped.
They believe that the phenomenon of fascismcan experience exponential growth in numbers and
influence, arguing that Italy s Mussolini and Hitler s Third Reich had quite humble beginnings and
meek political turnouts before they snowballed to the tyrannical regimes they became. According to
them, the viral nature of fascism is a constant threat that must be confronted to stifle the growth of
authoritarian nationalism; believing it had a strong hypnotic effect on a vulnerable audience and

A dictatorial government capitalizes on the perennial human desires to feel protected and safe,
which a dictator promises with a strong military and a convenient scapegoat to crush; of

inner rejection of societal norms and their dormant hatred and hunger for change, that dictators
satisfy through war and persecution. Basically, by appealing to a person s more irrational and
hateful nature, and through strict enforcement of its agenda, dictators can grip their audience under
the spell of mass hysteria. The lure of fascism is strong and exists in many far right groups today,

Plato s Allegory of the Cave in Pleasantville Essay
Writer and director Gary Ross captured the essence of Plato s philosophical views in his movie,
Pleasantville. The movie is about two siblings, David and Jennifer, who live in completely
different high school social scenes. Jennifer is the wild, extroverted teen who is obsessed with
partying and boy drama. David, on the other hand, is a social outcast and spends most of his time
watching TV, specifically, his favorite show, Pleasantville. David idolizes the show because of the
perfect town in which everyone is accepted and there is never anything that goes wrong. When the
siblings mother goes away, the two are left arguing over what TV channel to watch. As their
fighting develops, they eventually break the remote, which leads to the... Show more content on

Because the people of Pleasantville and David and Jen learn new things about themselves, they all
escaped the cave and gathered knowledge. The road to enlightenment was not an easy road,
however. David and Jennifer had a difficult time maturing and leaving behind their old masks; the
town of Pleasantville had a very difficult time gaining a new perspective the town leaders tried
everything they could to forbid people from leaving their perfect little world. This parallel of the
cave explains Plato s first conclusion of how education can often be difficult because it means
turning your back on everything familiar. The movie also very clearly identifies with Plato s
second conclusion that explains why philosophers are often ridiculed. When Jennifer and David
were transported to Pleasantville, they were immediately hated for disrupting the order in the
town. They had to learn how to cope with a completely different world, while also instilling in
others their new perspective and experience. While Pleasantville is black and white, the town
represents the ignorance that people in the cave feel. However, when the town begins to turn to
color, the people are finally seeing the light and escaping from the cave. This I somewhat ironic
because, for both the people of Pleasantville and David and Jen, they all begin their journey in
black and white. This is interesting because, from Jen and David s

Crime And Punishment Conservatism
The novel Crime and Punishment was written during a time when science based ideas about
civilization and evolution were beginning to replace religious or mystical ideas. Many people,
under the guise of being intellectuals, subscribed to these theories and promoted them because the
theories made them seem superior to their fellow men. Author Fyodor Dostoevsky incorporated
many of these theories into the perspectives of the characters in his novel, suggesting that despite
their presentation as new or revolutionary, they were simply re workings of older ideas re fitted
for the modern era. Dostoevsky uses Raskolnikov s idea about extraordinary people and
Lebezyatnikov s idea about communes to criticize Social Darwinismand aspects of Radicalism
respectively. By linking the theories with his characters, he also criticizes the type of people who
subscribed to these theories.
Dostoevsky outlines two conflicting theories about crime and humanity that emerged during Russia
s modernization period in the novel. One view, presented by Razumikhin, explains that the
individual is a victim of his environment and the other, held by Raskolnikov, states instead that the
individual is a product of his environment. Raskolnikov s view actually reinforces pre
modernization ideas about a social hierarchy with nobility on top. Similar to the pre modern idea
that nobility received their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Russia s Food Embargo With The Eu
There are several factors in Russia s economy that may contributed to many trade opportunities
being created for the United States. The US will likely be greatly affected by any shifts in the
demands of Russian consumers along with any import needs the country has to maintain its
society and infrastructure. One of the key considerations for examining Russia s resource needs
must be the fact that the US s core competency as an energy producer cannot be leveraged in this
scenario due to Russia s own dominance as a producer of oil (Lavrov, 2013). The loss of the
strength of the Russian ruble has caused Russia to experience a trade deficit, which has contributed
to an increase in the demand for imports (Beck, Kamps, Mileva, 2007). One of... Show more content

inflation sunk from 13% in the year 2015 to 5.4% today. Conversely, however, the prices to
consumers have risen. Russian currency has fallen behind because of the weak oil prices and
the sanctions of the West. Imports, in particular, were much more expensive. This year s low
price increase rate comes from President Vladimir Putin. At the beginning of 2018, presidential

Social Class Of The United States
If you took a handful of random strangers and asked them to tell you whom they are, a majority of
those people would start by defining themselves with their name and occupation. The American
society is conventionally arranged into social classes founded on income, wealth, occupation,
educational successfulness and social network. Social classes are defined as status hierarchy in
which individuals and groups are classified on the basis of esteem and prestige acquired mainly
through economic success and the accumulation of wealth. ( social class) For most of American
history, social classes have created inflexible barriers, with multiple institutions and businesses,
administering rules established on racial discrimination and other forms of categorizing people
founded on preconceptions. Social class in the United States is a contentious matter, possessing
many different models, definitions and arguments for its obvious existence. Though many
Americans now commonly identify with the three tier model a model that incorporates the upper
class, the middle class, and lower class/poverty social scientists have suggested more intricately
created model. The extreme definition of social classes has only recently appeared in the past 250
years. Clarity of this natural habit did not strike the citizens of the United States until the colonial

The Dysfunctional, Deranged Society In 1984 By George Orwell
The dysfunctional, deranged society of George Orwell s classic novel, 1984, is more relevant today
to United States citizens than ever. In the book and in our country currently, the ruling governments
both attempt to dominate their people through consistent force. The United States is constantly
policing its citizens to maintain order, which is similar to the Party s actions in 1984. As our
present day society continues to progress, certain aspects of citizens lives mirror those found in
1984, such as the overbearing control of the government, the limited language amongst the people,
and the new security methods. The Oceania community, as portrayed in 1984, affects United
States citizens of today because both in the book and in reality, the governments believe they are
allowed to control the actions of their people. Always the eyes watching you and the voice
enveloping you.....Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimeters inside your skull
(Orwell 27). 1984 portrays a society where it is never acceptable to stray from the routine of
government rules, so the only freedom you have is your own capacity to think. In our society
today, citizens are supposed to have freedom of thought, but, similar to Orwell s novel, the people
are illegitimately restricted by the governing authority. For instance, our current president, President
Trump, disagreed with football players actions to kneel during the National Anthem because he
believed it corrupted the civil peace. He

Little Italy is unique because it is no longer the ethnic enclave it was 115 years ago. When

Inadequate Voter Registration
3.Inadequate Voter Registration
3.1 Multiple Registration
Multiple Registration is a huge challenge for holding a free and fair presidential election in
Afghanistan. Voter registration process in Afghanistan is different as compared to rest of the world.
According to the electoral law of Afghanistan, for presidential elections, the entire country is a
single electoral constituency (Ministry of Justice, 2016, p.29). This means that a voter can register
himself and vote in any voting station across the country. Therefore, voter s lists do not exist in the
voting stations, and the required documents are election cards that open entrance for voters to vote.
According to ICG, 10.6 million Afghans were registered within Afghanistan and 740,000 special
election cards were distributed to Afghan refugees in Pakistan in 2004(ICG, 2009, p. 15).
Later, in 2005, through a registration process, 1.7 million more elections cards added to the
previously available voter cards. Similarly, in 2009, 4.4 million new voter cards were issued for
those who supposedly were not registered before. With these new voter cards, a number of election
cards in circulations reached 17 million. However, the eligible voters in ... Show more content on

planet in our Solar System is not a hospitable place. The crew will have to face the challenges of
Venus s high winds and violent storms, the crushing air pressure, and more. Using the Russian
Venera missions as a guide, the scientists planned what they hope will be a safe mission for the
astronauts to travel there and back safely. My sci fi story will follow the perspective of one of
the Hesperis crew members on a journey though the inner solar system. In order to develop an
idea of how the astronauts will be able to land and live on Venus safely, we will need to study
the missions to Venus. From 1961 1983 Russia developed the Venera missions, which traveled to
Venus [2]. At this point in time, Russia has been the only country to land spacecraft on the planet,
though none of the probes lasted especially long. In 1978, the United States launched the Pioneer
Venus 2 probe. It made it into Venus s atmosphere and survived long enough to reach 110 km
above the surface, but this was the closest the United States ever got to landing on Venus [1].
Russia accomplished a total of sixteen Venera missions [2]. We will not be focusing on Venera 1

Ultimately, Charlotte Perkins Gilman incorporates her own personal experiences with postpartum
depression into a narrative which shows broad implications of women, how society portrays and

The injustice in society between gender is shown through the relationship between the narrator and
John, her husband. In the story, John never once called her by her name, sometimes a blessed little
goose or some other animal name, like an adult looking down at a minority. This is a discrimination
towards women and clearly represents how unfairly women were treated during those times. They

medicine and research study. It has been influential in finding the cure for many diseases including
Alzheimer s and cancer. The positron emitting glucose analog, 18F fluoro 2 deoxyglucose (FDG)
has helped in the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring therapeutic response in various cancers. The
metabolic imaging assessment is very helpful in providing important clinical data which in turn
improves the patient management [6]. It is proved that the FDG PET scan has better sensitivity,
specificity, and diagnostic accuracy when compared to CT imaging in most cancer patients. The
advantages of PET over other molecular imaging techniques are detailed in the following sections.
3.1 Advantages 3.1.1 Sensitivity The most important advantage of PET imaging is it s ability to
exhibit a higher sensitivity (detecting and recording more number of emitted events) when
compared to other methods such as SPECT, in which physical collimators are required to reject
photons, which are not within a defined angular range. Hence the collimators have lower geometric
efficiencies i.e. the percentage of detecting emitting photons (0.01%) [7]. 3.1.2 Coincidence
Detection in PET Due to the annihilation event in PET, there is no need to employ physical
collimators. The collimation is done electronically using the coincidence detection method. This in
turn increases the angle of acceptance and hence the number of

Nevertheless, the most common method used to commit a mass murder known today is through the
use of firearms, like Michael Carneal, who was involved in killing many students at a high school
in 1997. There are many other methods that citizens have heard of being used which include
bombs, like in the Oklahoma Bombing committed by Timothy Mcvay; Poisoning like the Jim Jones
mass murder and the mass suicide he was involved in, as the religious leader of the People s
Temple; Biological/chemical attacks such as the anthrax letters in which the Federal Bureau of
Investigations said Bruce Ivans was the sole culprit; Knives/machetes which is what Elliot Roger
used to kill his three male housemates ; Vehicles which is what Priscilla Ford used in anger after
having her child removed from her care (Cosh). It boils down to not the motive of the mass
murderer, but the means. What they had easily and readily available to use during the time they
seek their revenge and endeavor to prove their point to the world. The least common and newest
method used, transpired on September 11th, 2001. The Islamic terrorist group, al Qaeda, assailed
the United States by hijacking four planes during the midst of their flight. They flew into the Twin
Towers, located in New York, causing the loss of many lives. Sometimes one fixates on the mass

Editing critique of Tery Zwigoff s Ghostworld Essay
Editing Critique of Terry Zwigoff s Ghost World nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; In order for a film to be
successful many different elements must be taken into consideration even before beginning to
shoot. The tone of the piece, what sort of lighting will be used, the location of the shots, and a
palette for the film, are all elements that need to be considered before the actual filmmaking begins.
However, even with rigorous planning, questions will still arise during shooting, questions that
might not even be apparent or answered until the footage reaches the editing room. However, many
shortcomings in shooting can be solved through editing. In fact, with good editing pretty much any
type of footage can be made into a working piece of art. But good... Show more content on

The camera cuts away in the middle of this action, leaving the bag theoretically floating
somewhere in mid space. The next scene, however, begins with Enid grabbing the bag off of a
table where she sitting with her best friend Rebecca. The result is the feeling one single motion:
the bag leaving Seymour s hands and entering Enid s. This idea of continuous motion reoccurs
several times during the film helping the viewer connect scenes as well as ideas. Across screen
movement is another technique used to smooth edit points in the film. Often a person or group
of people walking across the screen will act as a wipe, pushing the last scene off while
introducing the next. Most of the time the wipe is an insignificant character such as a jogger or a
car driving by. Human wipes are also used within scenes to lead camera movement. A great
example of this is Enid s art opening scene. In this scene the camera uses one continuous shot to
move from the outside of the gallery to the room where Enid s piece is hanging. However this
movement is not done in a single motion. Through out this movement the camera pauses three
times, each time motivated to move again by a group of people walking in front of the camera in
the same direction. This makes the movement of the camera surprisingly subtle. nbsp; Ghost World
also uses editing as a means of establishing time and building relationships between characters.

  • 2. Mr. Grudem s Argument Against Racism I ve read this and been thinking about it. Here is my response to this the editorial. First of all, OF COURSE Christians should try to influence elections... so should everyone else! My concern about the focus is that so often it seems that the Christians Mr. Grudem is trying to influence try to tie their political opinions, policy positions, and those whom they support with their religion. I very rarely see this link as being positive; typically it is short sighted and replaces critical thinking of far sighted potential ramifications of a policy to blind obedience to a faith based system of thought. That is not healthy, and it is certainly not Christianity. So I agree with the principle, but I am reading something sinister between the lines. Paranoia on my part? Possibly, but recent history of certain religious groups selling out to a certain political party suggest otherwise. His basis for voting for flawed candidate is, in fact, a good one in my opinion. Since all people are flawed in many respects, then it is incumbent to look at the flaws and decide if one person may be more beneficial to the life of a nation than the other flawed candidate. Honestly, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grudem then cleverly dismisses some of Trump s accusations as... the printings of a hostile media! In an incredible sleight of hand, he offers up his business conduct as a defense against racism (forget about what he says... really?), being anti immigrant (hell, he has been in trouble for hiring illegal immigrants in the past, and don t worry, walls solve everything anyway), and misogynistic (again, Trump has expounded in great detail his contempt for women (at least those who stand against his ideals), but don t listen, look at his business deals.) I think we should look at his business deals, but when they show what we would expect to see from a person who is egotistical, bombastic, brash, vindictive, and unfaithful, Mr. Grudem will simply do a little gymnastics and explain why this shouldn t worry ... For a definition of autonomy, we might quote Holec (1981: 3, cited in Benson Voller, 1997: 1) who describes it as the ability to take charge of one s learning . On a general note, the term autonomy has come to be used in at least five ways (see Benson Voller, 1997: 2): for situations in which learners study entirely on their own; for a set of skills which can be learned and applied in self directed learning; for an inborn capacity which is suppressed by institutional education; for the exercise of learners responsibility for their own learning; for the right of ... Within the context of education, though, there seem to be seven main attributes characterising autonomous learners (see Omaggio, 1978, cited in Wenden, 1998: 41 42): 1. Autonomous learners have insights into their learning styles and strategies; 2. take an active approach to the learning task at hand; 3. are willing to take risks, i.e., to communicate in the target language at all costs; 4. are good guessers; 5. attend to form as well as to content, that is, place importance on accuracy as well as appropriacy; 6. develop the target language into a separate reference system and are willing to revise and reject hypotheses and rules that do not apply; and 7. have a tolerant and outgoing approach to the target language. People who have inherited genes responsible for alcoholism from their parents will automatically be prone to addiction. There is not one single gene that passes alcoholism down through one s children. Identifying each specific gene involved in alcoholism is almost impossible, instead, studies have shown that certain gene combinations have a strong relationship with alcoholic disorders. However, some studies have shown that certain combinations of different genes can create a relationship with alcohol addiction. Alcoholism is a medical diagnosis. As such it does not apply merely to heavy drinking, or merely to getting into trouble because of drinking, or getting drunk a specified number of times. The diagnosis of alcoholism applies only to those who manifest the symptoms of addiction. (Keller 1982). Some behavioral genes can also be passed down from one s parents. Overall, the frond number and total frond area for duckweed grown in D.I. water falls slightly. This data supports the alternative hypothesis that if the duckweed is placed in water contaminated with soap, then the growth and number of duckweed fronds will decrease. This decrease in growth from contamination occurs because duckweed needs the proper nutrients to grow and prosper. In addition, duckweed will die in soap contaminated water because it is not adept to grow in such conditions. Other accounts argue that he did not believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind the choice, the general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. Sn2 Reaction Lab Report Pronin, Reiher, and Shenvi provide a shortcut to produce compounds with tertiary alkylisonitriles or tertiary alkylamines from tertiary alcohols through a transformation similar to a Sn2 reaction. This could make it easier to synthesize natural products that have anticancer, antimalarial, or antifungal properties. In a Sn2 reaction, a nucleophile displaces a leaving group so that the substrate s stereochemistry is flipped. The structural flip could change a compound s chemical properties. This cannot take place on tertiary carbons because triply substituted carbon electrophiles are too crowded for the Sn2 reaction s backside attack. This method transforms tertiary alcohols into tertiary alkylisonitriles while inverting the stereochemistry. In this method, a special acid catalyst and a nitrogen containing molecule, a derivative of cyanide is used. The special acid catalyst is scandium (III) trifluoromethansulfate. This parallel of the cave explains Plato s first conclusion of how education can often be difficult because it means turning your back on everything familiar. The movie also very clearly identifies with Plato s second conclusion that explains why philosophers are often ridiculed. When Jennifer and David were transported to Pleasantville, they were immediately hated for disrupting the order in the town. This I somewhat ironic because, for both the people of Pleasantville and David and Jen, they all begin their journey in black and white. This is interesting because, from Jen and David s ... • 25. Crime And Punishment Conservatism The novel Crime and Punishment was written during a time when science based ideas about civilization and evolution were beginning to replace religious or mystical ideas. Many people, under the guise of being intellectuals, subscribed to these theories and promoted them because the theories made them seem superior to their fellow men. Author Fyodor Dostoevsky incorporated many of these theories into the perspectives of the characters in his novel, suggesting that despite their presentation as new or revolutionary, they were simply re workings of older ideas re fitted for the modern era. Dostoevsky uses Raskolnikov s idea about extraordinary people and Lebezyatnikov s idea about communes to criticize Social Darwinismand aspects of Radicalism respectively. By linking the theories with his characters, he also criticizes the type of people who subscribed to these theories. Dostoevsky outlines two conflicting theories about crime and humanity that emerged during Russia s modernization period in the novel. One view, presented by Razumikhin, explains that the individual is a victim of his environment and the other, held by Raskolnikov, states instead that the individual is a product of his environment. Raskolnikov s view actually reinforces pre modernization ideas about a social hierarchy with nobility on top. Similar to the pre modern idea that nobility received their ... • 27. Russia s Food Embargo With The Eu There are several factors in Russia s economy that may contributed to many trade opportunities being created for the United States. The US will likely be greatly affected by any shifts in the demands of Russian consumers along with any import needs the country has to maintain its society and infrastructure. One of the key considerations for examining Russia s resource needs must be the fact that the US s core competency as an energy producer cannot be leveraged in this scenario due to Russia s own dominance as a producer of oil (Lavrov, 2013). The loss of the strength of the Russian ruble has caused Russia to experience a trade deficit, which has contributed to an increase in the demand for imports (Beck, Kamps, Mileva, 2007). One of... Social Class Of The United States If you took a handful of random strangers and asked them to tell you whom they are, a majority of those people would start by defining themselves with their name and occupation. The American society is conventionally arranged into social classes founded on income, wealth, occupation, educational successfulness and social network. Social classes are defined as status hierarchy in which individuals and groups are classified on the basis of esteem and prestige acquired mainly through economic success and the accumulation of wealth. ( social class) For most of American history, social classes have created inflexible barriers, with multiple institutions and businesses, administering rules established on racial discrimination and other forms of categorizing people founded on preconceptions. Social class in the United States is a contentious matter, possessing many different models, definitions and arguments for its obvious existence. Though many Americans now commonly identify with the three tier model a model that incorporates the upper class, the middle class, and lower class/poverty social scientists have suggested more intricately created model. • 30. The Dysfunctional, Deranged Society In 1984 By George Orwell The dysfunctional, deranged society of George Orwell s classic novel, 1984, is more relevant today to United States citizens than ever. In the book and in our country currently, the ruling governments both attempt to dominate their people through consistent force. The United States is constantly policing its citizens to maintain order, which is similar to the Party s actions in 1984. As our present day society continues to progress, certain aspects of citizens lives mirror those found in 1984, such as the overbearing control of the government, the limited language amongst the people, and the new security methods. The Oceania community, as portrayed in 1984, affects United States citizens of today because both in the book and in reality, the governments believe they are allowed to control the actions of their people. Always the eyes watching you and the voice enveloping you.....Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimeters inside your skull (Orwell 27). 1984 portrays a society where it is never acceptable to stray from the routine of government rules, so the only freedom you have is your own capacity to think. In our society today, citizens are supposed to have freedom of thought, but, similar to Orwell s novel, the people are illegitimately restricted by the governing authority. For instance, our current president, President Trump, disagreed with football players actions to kneel during the National Anthem because he believed it corrupted the civil peace. He ... Inadequate Voter Registration 3.Inadequate Voter Registration 3.1 Multiple Registration Multiple Registration is a huge challenge for holding a free and fair presidential election in Afghanistan. Voter registration process in Afghanistan is different as compared to rest of the world. According to the electoral law of Afghanistan, for presidential elections, the entire country is a single electoral constituency (Ministry of Justice, 2016, p.29). This means that a voter can register himself and vote in any voting station across the country. Therefore, voter s lists do not exist in the voting stations, and the required documents are election cards that open entrance for voters to vote. At this point in time, Russia has been the only country to land spacecraft on the planet, though none of the probes lasted especially long. In 1978, the United States launched the Pioneer Venus 2 probe. It made it into Venus s atmosphere and survived long enough to reach 110 km above the surface, but this was the closest the United States ever got to landing on Venus [1]. In the story, John never once called her by her name, sometimes a blessed little goose or some other animal name, like an adult looking down at a minority. It has been influential in finding the cure for many diseases including Alzheimer s and cancer. The positron emitting glucose analog, 18F fluoro 2 deoxyglucose (FDG) has helped in the diagnosis, staging, and monitoring therapeutic response in various cancers. The metabolic imaging assessment is very helpful in providing important clinical data which in turn improves the patient management [6]. It is proved that the FDG PET scan has better sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy when compared to CT imaging in most cancer patients. The advantages of PET over other molecular imaging techniques are detailed in the following sections. 3.1 Advantages 3.1.1 Sensitivity The most important advantage of PET imaging is it s ability to exhibit a higher sensitivity (detecting and recording more number of emitted events) when compared to other methods such as SPECT, in which physical collimators are required to reject photons, which are not within a defined angular range. Hence the collimators have lower geometric efficiencies i.e. the percentage of detecting emitting photons (0.01%) [7]. 3.1.2 Coincidence Detection in PET Due to the annihilation event in PET, there is no need to employ physical collimators. The collimation is done electronically using the coincidence detection method. This in turn increases the angle of acceptance and hence the number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
