Examples Of Cheating
Cheating, people do it, but what about the penalties that are given to the people who are caught?
People cheat on many things: school, sports, and, but not limited to, relationships. But there are many
ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports cheating can happen with: drugs, academic
eligibility, or even through recruiting. With all the sports the focus could be on, college basketball
seems to have the easiest examples of cheating. What makes college basketball coaches break the
rules, is it worth the penalty?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was actually
caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy did cheat.
Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the leading scores on
the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy Williams academic scandal.
He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up being unsigned in the league by
the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help athletes stay academically eligible
(Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out against Roy Williams in the academic
scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently were exposed in his interview with Steve
Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper class, that did not require attendance to the class at
all, but rather to turn in a term paper at the end of the semester to receive a

How Parachutes Were Used During WWI
How Parachutes were used during the war? Parachutes proved capable for more than entertainment
when they began to apply them during the First World War. During the First World War parachutes
were a valuable utility that was used to save balloonists observing during the war that had serious
problems with the balloon. Parachutes were mostly just used for balloonists since Americans decided
that if they gave parachutes to pilots, that they would jump out when unnecessary, and leave the
aircraft to be destroyed. But, only after realizing that pilots were difficult to train and far more
valuable than aircraft did they start to allow their pilots to begin wearing the guardian angels that
saved them from horrendous deaths. Parachutes obtained another

Cam Research Paper
In the last two decades, the use of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) by the American
public has grown exponentially, especially among women, meriting the question of why? . CAM is
defined as any medical practice not regularly taught in biomedical schooling, and that is undertaken to
replace or to be used in conjunction with standard biomedical practice (Su, D et al, 2011). Examples
of CAM typically used include acupuncture, chiropractic care, and herbal medicine, as well as deep
breathing exercise, yoga, meditation, and prayer. The recent surge in CAM use has been so extreme
that it is now estimated that 40 to 45 percent of Americans currently practice CAM use, with 68
percent of Americans having used CAM at some point in their ... Show more content on

Yet again, there is no singular answer, but it may be rooted in traditional perspectives of women s
health. Until very recently, women s bodies had been perceived as analogous to those of men, aside
from reproduction, and therefore they did not merit study. It was not until 1993 that women were even
included in medical trials. The uniqueness of individuals was completely overlooked, despite the
impact of individual experiences have on every aspect of health (Goldstein, 2002). Meanwhile,
women s reproductive health has been viewed in western medicine as difficult and described as
natural abnormal. (Wiley, 2009). It is clear that this stems from male domination in the biomedical
field over the years it is a sort of ethnocentrism of the sexes. Women s health has been medicalized for
years, from hysteria to premenstrual syndrome. Because these syndromes do not appear worldwide, it
appears that they are cultural constructs developed to explain women s bodies in a way that medical
science can easily understand. Even the mundane of women s health is treated medically:
menstruation is regularly described in negative terms, focusing upon the associated problems; the
experience of pregnancy has become increasingly medicalized, with extensive testing, hospitalization,
and surgery; and menopause is treated as a disease of aging, with hot flashes being described as an

Acting With Integrity And Fairness Essay
Professional Growth Plan #3 Final Reflective Essay
Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner ELCC (Educational Leadership Constituent
Council) Standard 5 defines and describes Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner as
A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students and staff by
acting with integrity and fairness and in an ethical manner . The administrator treats people fairly,
equitably, and with dignity and respect. The leader protects the rights and confidentiality of the
students and staff. The educational leader also demonstrates appreciation for sensitivity to diversity.
With the help of the school supervisor, I have developed two goals for this project, and they are: 1.The
student intern will learn about the due process procedures for student discipline, and 2.The student
intern will review the current administration of student discipline and attendance policies.
Administrators come across situations every day that demand due process. As an instructional leader,
the principal should treat everyone fairly and procedurally. I have examined the laws of Due Process
and their application at Palmetto School. This project benefitted me in learning about the due process
procedures for student discipline and create a guide to assist the staff in understanding due process. As
part of my evaluation, I have interviewed the assistant principal, character coach, a regular education

renewing itself , what you ve made of my soul .
3. Political/Philosophical act
Mahmoud Darwish wrote A State of Siege in 2002 as an emotional reaction to the second Intifada. Or
in other words, as a testimony to the tragedies on the political and humanitarian level that his people
have suffered. Darwish considers that it is both a philosophical and political fact that it is necessary to
refuse the status quo and fixity; he even considers it to be the engine for his survival. He refuses to
accept the circumstances given after the second Intifada, and this political act is clear in the complete
book length poem entitled A State of Siege : Because reality is an ongoing text, lovely, white, without
malady .

In other words, it is when people use the image to show their approach and attitudes towards life in
their community and in the world. Or as Lakoff and Johnson said in their book concerning this
subject: a culture may be thought of as providing, among other things, a pool of available metaphors
for making sense of reality . The cultural approach of metaphors is what made Mandelblit analyze the
translation of metaphors from a cognitive perspective, which focuses on the cultural beliefs and values
of the source language and of the target language, especially when it is the case between two very
different languages. Arabic and English are languages that are very distinct and on several levels;
especially on the linguistic and cultural level. However, even if both languages are different, the
differences in economic, political and environmental factors among numerous societies may be
completely important, human societies are connected by a similar biological history. The reality in
which humans live is certainly not the same, but it is on the whole and large alike, as Chitoran

The Emotional Brain Overpowering The Thinking Brain
In the psychopathologies mentioned above, one thing is common the emotional brain overpowering
the thinking brain. Therefore, in dealing with these psychopathologies, the main goal is to somehow
wake the thinking brain up so that it could fire the needed neurons to finally control the emotional
brain. It can be as simple as trying to talk some sense into the person. This is because when a person is
listening, it is the neocortex that is being used and will therefore fire up more neurons. Just like the
child who is throwing a random tantrum, instead of giving him or her at once the thing that he or she
wants, tell the child to calm down, tell him or her that he or she does not need to cry or shout or to
even hurt people in order to get what

Aristotle s Four Main Causes Essay
To some the causes and effects of things are mutually exclusive, and coexistence with one another.
When observing specific equipment or even life, the question stands that there must be an account that
took place before such items ceased to exist. Particularly, Aristotle argues that each thing, whatever it
may be, will have causes, or types of explanatory factors by which that thing can be explained. The
significant knowledge of causes allows for specific accounts to be known. It s like questioning what
occurred first the chicken or the egg. Anything in life offers a question of cause; something must have
been in order to bring about the nature of today. These causes are apparent in answering everyday
questions, which in turn explains that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first causes of things are the Material cause: that from which, as a constituent present in it, a thing
comes to be. Material cause relates to the corporeal cause of a specific object (194b,24). The material
cause consequently transpires for the reason that the parts constituents as materials. Next, the
elucidation of the causes is a direct derivative from its own portions such as elements, components,
materials, establishing entire thing. Aristotle refers to bronze and silver as models of material cause;
which describes that the elements are the causes of a statue. So having bronze will ultimately lead one
to a statue. In referring to change the bronze transforms into the statue. Physically the statue must
undergo some process to change its current state into a statue. The material causes of things allow us
to function. For example the beds that we sleep on every day and the homes or dorms people walk into
are a material cause of some builder or manufactures. Aristotle wrote That we must acquire
knowledge, of the original causes since we say we know a thing whenever we think we know its
primary cause (983a, 24 16). Aristotle draws a discrepancy amongst potential and practicality. This is
directly correlated to the process of change and motion. Change can be described as an object taking
on a new form. The object has the potential to convert into something different, and change is actually
the potential of one form of matter to become another form of

Obesity Epidemic On The Rise And Something Must Be Done Essay
Obesity continues to be a problem in the United States. The obesity epidemic on the rise and
something must be done to solve this issue. About seventeen percent of children and adolescents about
12.5 million are obese (Diet). An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than 30% is considered
to be obese (Obesity). There isn t a direct focus on obesity, because people don t think it s an
important issue. To ensure a better future, solution is needed now. The solution to ending the obesity
epidemic by encouraging a healthier lifestyle on children at young ages, improving nutrition at schools
and restaurants, as well as providing more time and space for citizens to get physically active.
The best way to start a change with obesity in America is to begin with encouraging a healthy lifestyle
for the younger generation. The United States has one of the largest percentiles of overweight/obese
children in the world. The public clearly knows this, but is failing to take action. The parents are
responsible for the future of their kids; they should take action early in securing a healthy future for
them. This can be done requiring all students in school to be part of some sort of sport in school or
outside; like a recreational league. It s up to the parents to take responsibility for this and make sure
their kids are active in sports. Most athletes started at a young age, kids learn most at an early age and
tend to carry it on for the rest of their life. Not only is being active

Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism
As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the
people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and
Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their
needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore,
the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more
imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this
is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist
groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the
extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just
one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to
achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies
around the world to prevent a military invasion.
Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through
irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three
universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon.
Suicide attacks are organized and

The Evolution Of The Internet
Before the conception of the Internet, music was sold wholly as a physical product. The gramophone
record commonly known as Vinyl dominated all music sales up until the 1990s. Vinyl was sold as EPs
(Singles or Extended play) and LPs (Albums Long play). In the 1980s the Compact Cassette exploded
in popularity, invented by Philips in 1962 the compact cassette had been around with little success. In
the 1980s there was a massive surge of high fidelity portable cassette players being sold, most notably
the Song Walkman released in 1979, the compact cassette thrived throughout the 80s overtaking sales
of vinyl LPs. It was in 1982 that the first compact disc was produced (CD),but it wasn t until a few

Early 1999 Heavy metal band Metallica discovered that a demo version of their song I Disappear was
being spread throughout the online file sharing website before it had actually been released. This
meant that radio stations were able to access and play the track. Due to this the band filed a lawsuit
against Napster. A month later Rapper and music producer Dr.Dre also filled a law suit against
Napster, this was after a failed attempt in asking Napster to remove his music off the website. After a
year they settled both lawsuits, but this was the end of the dispute with the music industry and
Napster. In 1999 the RIAA ( The Recording Industry Association of America) filed a lawsuit on behalf
of many record labels who felt that Napster was infringing on their copyrights. By 2000 Napster was
ordered to remove any copyrighted music away from its sight and by early 2001 Napster closed down
its online sight as ordered by a judge. The digital music revolution it unleashed has since brought a
once mighty recording industry to its knees ; Many feel that Napster was the sole reason for the
destruction of CD despite the closing of the website, it only paved the way for other models to come
along and find a legal way of streaming music to the public.
In the early 2000 s many streaming methods came about. Pandora Internet Radio Station was
launched, allowing users to create radio channels that were tailored to their own music taste. Pandora

The people of America and their government each owe their commitment to obey certain obligations
to each other. Since each component of the nation must work together in order for it to function
properly, the people and those governing them each have essential duties they must obey to sustain an
efficiently operating country. The government of the people, by the people, for the people. (Lincoln)
both serves the people and is served by the people.
The government is responsible for serving and representing its people. Because the people of today

must promote equal opportunity and rights for all. It is commonly agreed that all men and women

Elizabeth s Visit to Pemberley in Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen In Pride and Prejudice Elizabeth
s visit to Pemberley is a very key episode in the story as it expresses her change of heart towards
Darcy. This visit reveals the true and real Darcy which proves that Elizabeth s assumptions were
wrong which follows on from Darcy s explanatory letter at Hunstanton, of his and Wickems situation.
Elizabeth is shocked to hear of Wickems unforgivable behaviour and his lies but her prejudices of
Darcy remain. The house and grounds of Darcy reflect his character and tastes. Mrs. Reynolds

There is great contrast between Darcy s house and grounds and Lady Catherine s house and grounds at
Rosings. Elizabeth begins to realize what she had rejected and begins to regret it, which presents more
evidence of Elizabeth changing her feelings towards Darcy. This was a lucky recollection it had saved
her from something like regret . Elizabeth best impressions were reinforced by Mrs. Reynolds. The
housekeeper is very friendly and down to earth the complete opposite to Lady Catherine. She s not
what Elizabeth had expected her to be. The housekeeper came; a respectable looking elderly woman,
much less fine, and more civil, than she had any notion of finding her . Mrs. Reynolds description is
crucial to Elizabeth s feelings for Darcy. Her comments reveal Darcy s real character, and also confirm

Match Point Tragic Hero
The hunger for lust, money, pride, and power can often cause irrational and immoral behaviours and
as a result destroy the lives of innocent people. This is demonstrated in Match Point whereby the main
character commits murder and adultery out of the heat of the moment which consequences in a crime
of passion. The movie exemplifies a Shakespearean tragedy described by the tragic hero s destiny of
free will which ultimately leads to his eventual downfall and his internal struggles and death. This is
proven by through the tragic hero s actions, which are purely dictated by his free will. Furthermore,
the tragic hero contains many tragic flaws such as lack of judgements that impose his internal
struggles, and the suffering of other characters.

Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes
Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in
our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every negotiation
involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem solving. In the
book Getting to Yes , the authors have not only identified the key issues in the traditional negotiation
process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually acceptable agreements.
The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize that
the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over their
opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of the
participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective
negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have clearly
highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be efficient and
should not damage the existing relationship. A positional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As negotiators we should try to address the core concern behind emotions (autonomy, appreciation,
affiliation, role and status are some of the major concerns) and should ensure we do not knowingly or
unknowingly threaten the self image of the other person. The authors mention that instead of hiding
the emotions, it s wise to share them as both the parties may then jointly work to address those
emotions. This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may sometimes lead
to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. These emotional issues can however be
handled with simple gestures like an apology or a sympathy

Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five-Forty-Eight Essay
Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight
John Cheever was an award winning American author of the twentieth century. His work often
possessed psychological and religious vision with central themes of sin, deception, and redemption
(Kennedy, 551). Cheever s short story entitled The Five Forty Eight portrays a struggle of good vs.
evil. Following the themes of sin, deception, and redemption, we read of a young woman (good)
seeking revenge for the evil done to her. Through the course of the story the reader can distinguish
between the traits of good and evil.
The Webster s dictionary defines evil as that which is morally wrong. Blake has some distinct morality
issues. Blake, the evil force in the story, possesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His relationships are not the only area of his life that we see Blake?s evil nature rise. There are subtle
hints of his self obsession throughout Cheever?s story. Early on in the story, Blake is admiring himself
in a plate glass window and sees himself with ?a clear reflection? and the crowds ?like shadows at his
back? (551). He then sees Mrs. Dent as a ?contorted being? (551) in the same window. Blake sees
himself as a flawless creature of complete perfection with the mass of city pedestrians as a blur behind
his faultlessness, and he can easily pick out the imperfections in other individuals. He sees himself as
the ultimate perfection, instead of seeing the negative impact he has on his friends and family. His
negative interactions with friends and family are the evil force that breaks his relationships. There is
no mention of any moral actions performed by him.
We find yet another example of Blake?s immoral actions through his self conceit. He fails to comfort a
crying Mrs. Dent, ?he felt too contented and warm and sleepy to worry about her tears? (553). Blake
has no compassion for others; he only worries about his own affairs. This is indicative that Blake is
morally wrong.
Blake so genuinely sees himself as perfect that it is virtually impossible for him to accept any minor
mistakes he makes. When he first comes across Mrs. Dent after their affair, he is surprised to find that
he cannot

Mesopotamia Government
Government
In Mesopotamia, government was the most important aspect of civilization. The government was the
dominant group of people that had control over others, enforcing the laws and regulations they had
created and deter them from breaking these laws. If the laws were broken, you would be punished in
accordance to what you had done. In Sumerian, the king did not write down the rules as everyone was
expected to know them. Babylon on the other hand, had their laws written down on a stone tablet
which was created by the king of Babylon, Hammurabi. These laws came to be known as The Code of
Hammurabi and outlined basic human rights. The Code is now the basis of many countries
constitutions. With the absence of government, Mesopotamia would ... Show more content on

What Does The Flowers Symbolize In The Chrysanthemums
Flowers are typically given to someone as an expression of love or friendship. However, depending on
a person culture, it can also mean mourning and or death. Example, carnations and lilies represent
mourning, but yellow Roses represents friendship; Red roses are seen as romantic. Often times
flowers have shown symbolism in different literary pieces. In John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums ,
the protagonist, Elisa s loneliness and confinement are represented by the fenced in garden and growth
of her chrysanthemums.
To begin The Chrysanthemums , is about a woman named Elisa who lives on a farm with her husband.
Throughout the entire story, it is evident that she feels lonely and trapped. This is expressed through
the symbolism of chrysanthemums.

Imperialism In The 21st Century

mostly white, mostly male, mostly straight, mostly cisgender, and guaranteed to be rich as rich can be.

Sons Of Liberty Analysis
Benjamin Franklin once said We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. The
quote represents how the Sons of Liberty were all in, and there was no backing down to the British.
They fought together and they were going to die together as long as they fought for what s right. The
Sons of Liberty attempted peaceful solutions to the taxations from the king, fought for what they
believed in, and were just acting out against the king in self defense which shows the Sons of Liberty
are patriotic leaders, not terrorists.
First, the Sons of Liberty attempted peaceful solutions. On page 99 in the text United States History
Beginning to 1914 the text states, A popular method of protest was the boy cott, in which people
refused to buy British goods. The first colonial boycott started in New York in 1765. This quote shows
that the colonists resorted to a peaceful protest to express their concern for the new taxations. This
matter because originally the colonists did not want to fight they just wanted to be represented. Which
shows they are patriots because they are sticking up for themselves and their rights. The colonists did
not only try peaceful solutions once. They attempted multiple times. An example of this is on page 114
in our textbooks. The text United States History Beginning to 1914 also states On July 5 the delegates
signed the Olive Branch Petition as a final attempt to restore harmony. King George refused to read it.

A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug
Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by
blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the
management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet
when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s
most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and
sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in
palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and

Examples Of Asian Stereotypes
I played piano and violin in middle school. I had a 4.0 GPA in high school. My childhood job dream,
is to be a doctor. My favorite subject is Calculus. It probably did not take long for you to assume that I
have described most of the Asian stereotypes known to man. However, Asian stereotypes show that
Asians are hardworking, smart, and successful. With all these being such positive feature why do
Asians care to be stereotyped as the model minorities? It s because even these positive stereotypes
have negative connotations that strip people of their individuality and alienate them for not being able
reach the standards set for them. I am a personal victim of these stereotypes and for the longest I was
afraid to ask teachers for help, because I thought that I was not suppose to need help. Not only am I
afraid of others commenting BUT YOU RE ASIAN but basically you re just admitting to failure.
YOURE ASIAN ; I do not understand this phrase, just because of our race were already presumed to
be intelligent, without even proving our self worth. The Asian race often takes all the credit for the
accomplishment and efforts performed by the individual. What makes the color of your skin or the
way you look, differ from the person next to you. It is because Asians study more or is it the pressure
of the parents, to achieve nothing but perfect grades. I am not afraid to admit that sometimes I treat B+
as F and strive for nothing less than a A. Asian parents enforce strict rules, tiger mom , not only so
they can know that their child will not have to struggle when they retire, but the main reason is due to
the competitive atmosphere created so parents can boast about their child s intelligence. Most of my
Asian friends feel the same, not having perfect grades could mean that your family does not accept
you. The pressure of being alienate and not having anyone to lean on or go to for help, can cause
suicidal thought in Asian Americans.
Its hard to just ignore the fact that I M ASIAN , that s something you cannot change, it s part of who
you are. Yes, although I am Asian, I am also an individual and I do not want my individuality to be
taken away by these stereotypes. Once I had a friend that even came up to me and

Genetic Engineering And The Human Genome Project
In 1990, the science world began a vigorous new exploration of human DNA the Human Genome
Project. The goal of this project was to map out all the human genes (An Overview of, 2015), which
ultimately led to a deeper understanding of all genes, not just a human s. This deeper understanding
also helped scientists to progress further in the technology of recombinant DNA. Recombinant DNA is
when DNA from different cells is spliced together, creating a new strand (Kuure Kinsey, 2000).
Recombinant DNA is often used to genetically change a cell, which is known as genetic engineering.
Genetic engineering can be used to prevent and alleviate symptoms of various diseases, by pinpointing
and fixing the gene that causes them. It enables organisms to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of testing genetic engineering directly on a human, scientists perform tests on other living
things like the Escherichia coli bacteria used in the pGLO lab. The purpose of the scientists
performing the pGLO lab was to see if they were able to alter the DNA of a bacteria, E. coli, causing
the bacteria to glow, if the insertion of the glow gene, which originated in a jellyfish, was successful.
Four groups of bacteria were experimented with. Two of these groups were control groups; the
bacteria with no DNA alteration on an agar plate containing nutrient broth, and the bacteria with the
pGLO gene added on an agar plate with both Ampicillin and nutrient broth added to it. Each of these
plates acted as a baseline for comparison for the other two plates, which were the experimental plates.
The experimental groups were the groups consisting of unaltered bacteria on an agar plate containing
Ampicillin and nutrient broth, and the altered (pGLO gene added) bacteria on an agar plate containing
the nutrient broth, Ampicillin, and Arabinose sugar. Along with control groups and experimental
groups, every experiment has both independent and dependent variables. In the pGLO experiment, the
independent variables were the Ampicillin, Arabinose sugar, and the nutrient broth, all of which were
added to the agar plate, as well as the pGLO gene being added to the bacteria s DNA. These

What Makes People Do The Right Thing
The crash of a Brinks truck on a Miami overpass still raises disturbing questions. January 8, 1997 was
just another crowded, rude and crazy day in Miami traffic until an armored Brinks truck flipped and
broke open, sending nearly a million dollars in cash swirling over the highway. Hundreds of motorists
screeched to a stop, grabbing whatever money they could. People in nearby houses raced outside
shouting and scooping up bills. When it was over, a handful of people returned some of the money.
Firefighter Manny Rodriguez turned in a huge bale of bills worth $330,000, and one teenager returned
some change. However, nearly half a million dollars was missing stolen by everyday people like you
and me. In the following days, some rationalized the mass theft as a kind of Robin Hood action,
because the truck had crashed in a poor area of town. Most people claimed to be shocked. Now we are
all left with hard questions: Why did only a few people do the right thing ? Why did the majority do
the wrong thing ? What causes people to act honestly, even if no one is watching? What would you or

Pipeline Problem
The overall demographics in the tech sector are pretty skewed to white men and to some degree Asian.
Now, some people may say the strikingly low levels of minority and women representation is because
we do not have enough women and people of color applying for the job in the tech sector. The so
called
pipeline problem .
In her research article The Lack of Diversity in Tech is a cultural Issue published by Forbes Magazine,
Bonnie Marcus dispels that myth. She states, The answer is we don t see more progress because the
pipeline concern is not the primary reason for the discouraging statistics. There s a bigger issue. It s
the culture. We can attempt to solve the problem by educating more women and minorities and
challenging hiring practices which are all important initiatives, but the underlying issue that must be
addressed to solve this problem is the hidden and often overt discrimination that prevails in the tech
industry.
White and Asian workers make up 88% of all science and engineering jobs.
The chart above shows scientists and engineering occupations in 2013.
There is a common belief that we do not see many women and minorities in tech because that there
are simply not enough female and minority students studying math and science. ... Show more content

Joni Mitchell Struggles
Joni Mitchell was found unconscious in her home back in late March, and she was transferred to a
local hospital in Los Angeles (CA). After some time had passed, rumors starting circulating that
Mitchell had slipped into a coma. Those rumors were shut down by those who run Mitchell s website,
for which they stated the singer was alert and had her full senses. They also explained Mitchell would
have 24 hour care whenever she left the hospital, and she was expected to make a full recovery. Just
recently, Mitchell s good friend David Crosby said that the singer had suffered a brain aneurysm and
faced a long struggle.
Crosby told the Huffington Post that Mitchell was at home, and she is recovering. How much she is
going to come back, and when, I don t know. She took a terrible hit. She had an aneurysm and nobody
found her for a while, he explained. Crosby continued, She s going to have to struggle back from it the
way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury. To my knowledge, she s not speaking yet.
Crosby and Mitchell dated back in the late 1960s, and they gave been friends ever since. She is a
tough girl and very smart. I love her. She s probably the best of us...probably the greatest living singer
songwriter. I think we re all holding our breath and thinking of goodbye, you know? And hoping it is

  • 2. Examples Of Cheating Cheating, people do it, but what about the penalties that are given to the people who are caught? People cheat on many things: school, sports, and, but not limited to, relationships. But there are many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports cheating can happen with: drugs, academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. With all the sports the focus could be on, college basketball seems to have the easiest examples of cheating. What makes college basketball coaches break the rules, is it worth the penalty? Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the leading scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy Williams academic scandal. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up being unsigned in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper class, that did not require attendance to the class at all, but rather to turn in a term paper at the end of the semester to receive a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the First World War parachutes were a valuable utility that was used to save balloonists observing during the war that had serious problems with the balloon. Parachutes were mostly just used for balloonists since Americans decided that if they gave parachutes to pilots, that they would jump out when unnecessary, and leave the aircraft to be destroyed. But, only after realizing that pilots were difficult to train and far more valuable than aircraft did they start to allow their pilots to begin wearing the guardian angels that saved them from horrendous deaths. • 4. Cam Research Paper In the last two decades, the use of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) by the American public has grown exponentially, especially among women, meriting the question of why? . CAM is defined as any medical practice not regularly taught in biomedical schooling, and that is undertaken to replace or to be used in conjunction with standard biomedical practice (Su, D et al, 2011). Examples of CAM typically used include acupuncture, chiropractic care, and herbal medicine, as well as deep breathing exercise, yoga, meditation, and prayer. The recent surge in CAM use has been so extreme that it is now estimated that 40 to 45 percent of Americans currently practice CAM use, with 68 percent of Americans having used CAM at some point in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet again, there is no singular answer, but it may be rooted in traditional perspectives of women s health. Until very recently, women s bodies had been perceived as analogous to those of men, aside from reproduction, and therefore they did not merit study. It was not until 1993 that women were even included in medical trials. The uniqueness of individuals was completely overlooked, despite the impact of individual experiences have on every aspect of health (Goldstein, 2002). Meanwhile, women s reproductive health has been viewed in western medicine as difficult and described as natural abnormal. (Wiley, 2009). It is clear that this stems from male domination in the biomedical field over the years it is a sort of ethnocentrism of the sexes. Women s health has been medicalized for years, from hysteria to premenstrual syndrome. Because these syndromes do not appear worldwide, it appears that they are cultural constructs developed to explain women s bodies in a way that medical science can easily understand. Even the mundane of women s health is treated medically: menstruation is regularly described in negative terms, focusing upon the associated problems; the experience of pregnancy has become increasingly medicalized, with extensive testing, hospitalization, and surgery; and menopause is treated as a disease of aging, with hot flashes being described as an estrogen ... Acting With Integrity And Fairness Essay Professional Growth Plan #3 Final Reflective Essay Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner ELCC (Educational Leadership Constituent Council) Standard 5 defines and describes Acting with Integrity and Fairness and in Ethical Manner as A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students and staff by acting with integrity and fairness and in an ethical manner . The administrator treats people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect. The leader protects the rights and confidentiality of the students and staff. The educational leader also demonstrates appreciation for sensitivity to diversity. With the help of the school supervisor, I have developed two goals for this project, and they are: 1.The student intern will learn about the due process procedures for student discipline, and 2.The student intern will review the current administration of student discipline and attendance policies. Administrators come across situations every day that demand due process. As an instructional leader, the principal should treat everyone fairly and procedurally. I have examined the laws of Due Process and their application at Palmetto School. This project benefitted me in learning about the due process procedures for student discipline and create a guide to assist the staff in understanding due process. Political/Philosophical act Mahmoud Darwish wrote A State of Siege in 2002 as an emotional reaction to the second Intifada. Or in other words, as a testimony to the tragedies on the political and humanitarian level that his people have suffered. Darwish considers that it is both a philosophical and political fact that it is necessary to refuse the status quo and fixity; he even considers it to be the engine for his survival. He refuses to accept the circumstances given after the second Intifada, and this political act is clear in the complete book length poem entitled A State of Siege : Because reality is an ongoing text, lovely, white, without malady . The cultural approach of metaphors is what made Mandelblit analyze the translation of metaphors from a cognitive perspective, which focuses on the cultural beliefs and values of the source language and of the target language, especially when it is the case between two very different languages. Arabic and English are languages that are very distinct and on several levels; especially on the linguistic and cultural level. However, even if both languages are different, the differences in economic, political and environmental factors among numerous societies may be completely important, human societies are connected by a similar biological history. Therefore, in dealing with these psychopathologies, the main goal is to somehow wake the thinking brain up so that it could fire the needed neurons to finally control the emotional brain. It can be as simple as trying to talk some sense into the person. This is because when a person is listening, it is the neocortex that is being used and will therefore fire up more neurons. • 8. Aristotle s Four Main Causes Essay To some the causes and effects of things are mutually exclusive, and coexistence with one another. When observing specific equipment or even life, the question stands that there must be an account that took place before such items ceased to exist. Particularly, Aristotle argues that each thing, whatever it may be, will have causes, or types of explanatory factors by which that thing can be explained. The significant knowledge of causes allows for specific accounts to be known. It s like questioning what occurred first the chicken or the egg. Anything in life offers a question of cause; something must have been in order to bring about the nature of today. These causes are apparent in answering everyday questions, which in turn explains that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first causes of things are the Material cause: that from which, as a constituent present in it, a thing comes to be. Material cause relates to the corporeal cause of a specific object (194b,24). The material cause consequently transpires for the reason that the parts constituents as materials. Next, the elucidation of the causes is a direct derivative from its own portions such as elements, components, materials, establishing entire thing. Aristotle refers to bronze and silver as models of material cause; which describes that the elements are the causes of a statue. So having bronze will ultimately lead one to a statue. In referring to change the bronze transforms into the statue. Physically the statue must undergo some process to change its current state into a statue. The material causes of things allow us to function. For example the beds that we sleep on every day and the homes or dorms people walk into are a material cause of some builder or manufactures. Aristotle wrote That we must acquire knowledge, of the original causes since we say we know a thing whenever we think we know its primary cause (983a, 24 16). Aristotle draws a discrepancy amongst potential and practicality. This is directly correlated to the process of change and motion. Change can be described as an object taking on a new form. The object has the potential to convert into something different, and change is actually the potential of one form of matter to become another form of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Obesity Epidemic On The Rise And Something Must Be Done Essay Obesity continues to be a problem in the United States. The obesity epidemic on the rise and something must be done to solve this issue. About seventeen percent of children and adolescents about 12.5 million are obese (Diet). An adult with a BMI (body mass index) higher than 30% is considered to be obese (Obesity). There isn t a direct focus on obesity, because people don t think it s an important issue. To ensure a better future, solution is needed now. The solution to ending the obesity epidemic by encouraging a healthier lifestyle on children at young ages, improving nutrition at schools and restaurants, as well as providing more time and space for citizens to get physically active. The best way to start a change with obesity in America is to begin with encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the younger generation. The United States has one of the largest percentiles of overweight/obese children in the world. The public clearly knows this, but is failing to take action. The parents are responsible for the future of their kids; they should take action early in securing a healthy future for them. This can be done requiring all students in school to be part of some sort of sport in school or outside; like a recreational league. It s up to the parents to take responsibility for this and make sure their kids are active in sports. Most athletes started at a young age, kids learn most at an early age and tend to carry it on for the rest of their life. Not only is being active ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore, the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies around the world to prevent a military invasion. Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon. Suicide attacks are organized and ... A month later Rapper and music producer Dr.Dre also filled a law suit against Napster, this was after a failed attempt in asking Napster to remove his music off the website. After a year they settled both lawsuits, but this was the end of the dispute with the music industry and Napster. In 1999 the RIAA ( The Recording Industry Association of America) filed a lawsuit on behalf of many record labels who felt that Napster was infringing on their copyrights. By 2000 Napster was ordered to remove any copyrighted music away from its sight and by early 2001 Napster closed down its online sight as ordered by a judge. The digital music revolution it unleashed has since brought a once mighty recording industry to its knees ; Many feel that Napster was the sole reason for the destruction of CD despite the closing of the website, it only paved the way for other models to come along and find a legal way of streaming music to the public. • 16. Brief Summary Of The Book Getting To Yes Negotiation is inevitable and knowingly or unknowingly each one of us enters into a negotiation in our personal professional lives, making an attempt to get what we want from others. Every negotiation involves conflict resolution that needs to be effectively resolved for effective problem solving. In the book Getting to Yes , the authors have not only identified the key issues in the traditional negotiation process but have also tried to establish a framework to reach mutually acceptable agreements. The book starts with identifying the problem associated with negotiation. The authors emphasize that the major challenge associated with negotiations is that people take positions, bargain over their opening position and then make small concessions to reach to a new position. Even if one of the participants decides to take a soft position in the negotiation, it does not result in an effective negotiation as the one who takes the hard position dominates the soft player. The authors have clearly highlighted that for a negotiation to be effective it should produce a wise agreement, be efficient and should not damage the existing relationship. A positional ... This also helps the other party release their negative emotions, which may sometimes lead to emotional outburst, to which the one should not react. His relationships are not the only area of his life that we see Blake?s evil nature rise. There are subtle hints of his self obsession throughout Cheever?s story. Early on in the story, Blake is admiring himself in a plate glass window and sees himself with ?a clear reflection? and the crowds ?like shadows at his back? (551). He then sees Mrs. Dent as a ?contorted being? (551) in the same window. Blake sees himself as a flawless creature of complete perfection with the mass of city pedestrians as a blur behind his faultlessness, and he can easily pick out the imperfections in other individuals. He sees himself as the ultimate perfection, instead of seeing the negative impact he has on his friends and family. His negative interactions with friends and family are the evil force that breaks his relationships. There is no mention of any moral actions performed by him. We find yet another example of Blake?s immoral actions through his self conceit. He fails to comfort a crying Mrs. Dent, ?he felt too contented and warm and sleepy to worry about her tears? (553). Blake has no compassion for others; he only worries about his own affairs. This is indicative that Blake is morally wrong. Blake so genuinely sees himself as perfect that it is virtually impossible for him to accept any minor mistakes he makes. • 18. Mesopotamia Government Government In Mesopotamia, government was the most important aspect of civilization. The government was the dominant group of people that had control over others, enforcing the laws and regulations they had created and deter them from breaking these laws. If the laws were broken, you would be punished in accordance to what you had done. In Sumerian, the king did not write down the rules as everyone was expected to know them. Babylon on the other hand, had their laws written down on a stone tablet which was created by the king of Babylon, Hammurabi. These laws came to be known as The Code of Hammurabi and outlined basic human rights. The Code is now the basis of many countries constitutions. With the absence of government, Mesopotamia would ... • 21. Sons Of Liberty Analysis Benjamin Franklin once said We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. The quote represents how the Sons of Liberty were all in, and there was no backing down to the British. They fought together and they were going to die together as long as they fought for what s right. The Sons of Liberty attempted peaceful solutions to the taxations from the king, fought for what they believed in, and were just acting out against the king in self defense which shows the Sons of Liberty are patriotic leaders, not terrorists. First, the Sons of Liberty attempted peaceful solutions. On page 99 in the text United States History Beginning to 1914 the text states, A popular method of protest was the boy cott, in which people refused to buy British goods. The first colonial boycott started in New York in 1765. This quote shows that the colonists resorted to a peaceful protest to express their concern for the new taxations. This matter because originally the colonists did not want to fight they just wanted to be represented. Which shows they are patriots because they are sticking up for themselves and their rights. The colonists did not only try peaceful solutions once. They attempted multiple times. An example of this is on page 114 in our textbooks. The text United States History Beginning to 1914 also states On July 5 the delegates signed the Olive Branch Petition as a final attempt to restore harmony. King George refused to read it. • 22. A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is pain management which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015). Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It probably did not take long for you to assume that I have described most of the Asian stereotypes known to man. However, Asian stereotypes show that Asians are hardworking, smart, and successful. With all these being such positive feature why do Asians care to be stereotyped as the model minorities? It s because even these positive stereotypes have negative connotations that strip people of their individuality and alienate them for not being able reach the standards set for them. I am a personal victim of these stereotypes and for the longest I was afraid to ask teachers for help, because I thought that I was not suppose to need help. Not only am I afraid of others commenting BUT YOU RE ASIAN but basically you re just admitting to failure. YOURE ASIAN ; I do not understand this phrase, just because of our race were already presumed to be intelligent, without even proving our self worth. The Asian race often takes all the credit for the accomplishment and efforts performed by the individual. What makes the color of your skin or the way you look, differ from the person next to you. It is because Asians study more or is it the pressure of the parents, to achieve nothing but perfect grades. I am not afraid to admit that sometimes I treat B+ as F and strive for nothing less than a A. Asian parents enforce strict rules, tiger mom , not only so they can know that their child will not have to struggle when they retire, but the main reason is due to the competitive atmosphere created so parents can boast about their child s intelligence. Most of my Asian friends feel the same, not having perfect grades could mean that your family does not accept you. The pressure of being alienate and not having anyone to lean on or go to for help, can cause suicidal thought in Asian Americans. Its hard to just ignore the fact that I M ASIAN , that s something you cannot change, it s part of who you are. The goal of this project was to map out all the human genes (An Overview of, 2015), which ultimately led to a deeper understanding of all genes, not just a human s. This deeper understanding also helped scientists to progress further in the technology of recombinant DNA. Recombinant DNA is when DNA from different cells is spliced together, creating a new strand (Kuure Kinsey, 2000). Instead of testing genetic engineering directly on a human, scientists perform tests on other living things like the Escherichia coli bacteria used in the pGLO lab. The purpose of the scientists performing the pGLO lab was to see if they were able to alter the DNA of a bacteria, E. coli, causing the bacteria to glow, if the insertion of the glow gene, which originated in a jellyfish, was successful. Four groups of bacteria were experimented with. Two of these groups were control groups; the bacteria with no DNA alteration on an agar plate containing nutrient broth, and the bacteria with the pGLO gene added on an agar plate with both Ampicillin and nutrient broth added to it. Each of these plates acted as a baseline for comparison for the other two plates, which were the experimental plates. The experimental groups were the groups consisting of unaltered bacteria on an agar plate containing Ampicillin and nutrient broth, and the altered (pGLO gene added) bacteria on an agar plate containing the nutrient broth, Ampicillin, and Arabinose sugar. Along with control groups and experimental groups, every experiment has both independent and dependent variables. January 8, 1997 was just another crowded, rude and crazy day in Miami traffic until an armored Brinks truck flipped and broke open, sending nearly a million dollars in cash swirling over the highway. Hundreds of motorists screeched to a stop, grabbing whatever money they could. People in nearby houses raced outside shouting and scooping up bills. When it was over, a handful of people returned some of the money. Firefighter Manny Rodriguez turned in a huge bale of bills worth $330,000, and one teenager returned some change. However, nearly half a million dollars was missing stolen by everyday people like you and me. In the following days, some rationalized the mass theft as a kind of Robin Hood action, because the truck had crashed in a poor area of town. Most people claimed to be shocked. The so called pipeline problem . In her research article The Lack of Diversity in Tech is a cultural Issue published by Forbes Magazine, Bonnie Marcus dispels that myth. She states, The answer is we don t see more progress because the pipeline concern is not the primary reason for the discouraging statistics. There s a bigger issue. It s the culture. We can attempt to solve the problem by educating more women and minorities and challenging hiring practices which are all important initiatives, but the underlying issue that must be addressed to solve this problem is the hidden and often overt discrimination that prevails in the tech industry.
