Evolution Of Gender Roles In The 1920 s
Equality between men and women is more than a matter of social justice .gender roles is a way of
characterizing and labeling other in society. Gender roles include attitudes, actions, and personality
traits associated with a gender within that culture. Gender roles determines over all how men and
women should act, speak, dress, and think. Gender defines masculine and feminine roles on society.
Social influence parents, teachers, peers, movies, television, music, books, and religion teach and
reinforce gender roles. Children then receive parental approval when they conform to gender
expectations and adopt culturally accepted roles. Throughout society evolution from the 1920s to now

has been portrait to be a week woman in need of salvation. Fairy tales continue to imply women to be
dependent on men, like a princess on a prince. Princesses are put on hyper sexualized royal attire, then
again to reinforce the idea of the female role and their physical modifications to please men. Little
girls are given the idea of becoming a princess like Cinderella. They fantasize about wearing a ball
gown and being swept off their feet. Even the strongest female characters in the role plays are most to
be saved by a man with wealth and over power. Cinderella is setting a standard for women and
limiting female gender roles to full exploration of their femininity. Typically the placement of the
female role is perceived as being weaker, smaller and more fragile. Culturally, they are set as being
passive and domesticated, all oriented towards submission and weakness. In the story Cinderella is
slaved and abused by her step mother and sisters. It is always a competition between the step sisters to
be the most beautiful one for the prince. In the dominant narrative by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, they
explain the role that Cinderella was given and she was miserable. Looking for an escape her
godmother beautifies her. Giving her that perfect look to get the prince s approval. Cinderella had to
leave the ball before the spell and lost her slipper. According to the prince, if the slipper fit, the lucky

pieces of the skin to fit on to the shoes to become part of the prince s wealth and become his

Persuasive Essay About Golden Retriever
Sometimes, life doesn t quite turn out the way you want it to, no matter how hard you try, so you have
to learn to roll with the punches. That was how I felt when, in the summer of 2016, my mom decided
we would be getting a dog. For the longest time, my sister had been for getting a dog, and this news
delighted her to no end. They thought a Golden Retriever would be the best dog for us. I, however,
was not with them on the idea. I wanted to spend my time doing things that I wanted to do, not
looking after a dog. I knew a dog would be a lot of responsibility.
Despite my objections, we visited a breeder who had a litter of Golden Retriever puppies. We chose
one during that visit, and we named her Karma. All summer, my sister and I had to ... Show more

I constantly feared the worst case scenario: death. That feeling I had, it was something I wouldn t wish
upon anyone. My heart ached, hoping and praying for the best. Monday, we went to visit her, and she
looked awful. She couldn t even stand. Something in my mind told me she wasn t going to make it. I
tried to fight that feeling, but once we were home, I collapsed on my bead and burst into tears. I
couldn t shake the feeling she was going to die. It was the one time I wished for me to be wrong.
Unfortunately, I wasn t. Tuesday, she ended up passing away while being transported to an emergency
animal treatment center.
I found out Tuesday after school. My mom brought my sister and I into her room and made the
announcement. They were both clearly devastated. I myself shed no tears until I was in the safety of
my own room. All I felt was hate, resentment, fear, and devastation. Out of everything that could have
happened, why did she have to go? I continued to ask myself that one question over and over. I felt
like it was partially my fault. I questioned if I had done something that would have led to this. We sent
her away to find out what had caused her death. They found nothing, and assumed it was a
neurological problem.
Even now, I look back and wish I had spent more time with Karma and showed her more love. It wasn
t that I hated Karma. I just hated having to take care of her. I would have much rather been in my
room doing other things, but

Women In Sir Gawain
Sir Gawain and the Attitude Towards Women
The portrayal of women is constantly being evaluated, in television shows to politics. The gender
stereotypes surrounding women are archaic compared to the complete overhaul that the rest of the
world has experienced. The 14th century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight expresses the gender
stereotypes at the time: women seen as property of their husbands, being temptations to men and
causing their downfall. The unknown author of the poem writes of Sir Gawain, a young,
inexperienced knight who enters into a Christmas game with the elusive Green Knight and then
embarks on a quest to seek out the Green Knight. He encounters the tempting Lady at Lord Bertilak s
castle and discovers that his quest was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One critic who agrees with this interpretation is Geraldine Heng. She writes that women dominate and
shape the destinies of men... Plan[s]... initiated by one woman are directed at another, performed by a
third and modulated by the actions of a fourth (Source G). Heng claims the whole plot of the poem is
directed by women, it is initiated by Morgan le Fey to affect Guenevere and then is carried out by
Mary and the Lady who leads Gawain to the Lord s castle and seduce him, respectively. This
interpretation of the role of women in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight claims that women have
power over the men in the story, portraying women in a positive light. However, the plot that is
instigated by women is rooted in malicious intent from a woman towards another woman. As the
Green Knight says that Morgan le Fey put this shape upon me to puzzle your wits / To afflict the fair
queen, and frighten her to death (2459 2460). Morgan le Fey wants revenge against Guenevere for as
legend has it, stopping a romantic affair she has with one of Authur s knights. This petty and trivial
quarrel is the basis of the poem s plot. This vengeance pits women against each other and causes
Gawain to undergo an immense journey that without this trivial fight would never happen. The plot is
not driven by powerful

Color And Symbolism In Doctor Zhivago Film
Doctor Zhivago Unlike The Grand Budapest Hotel where the filmmakers are banking on additional
viewings, Doctor Zhivago decides to use color sparingly, but effectively, on the first viewing. By
doing this, the filmmakers of Doctor Zhivago are ensuring that everyone who watches the film leaves
with an understanding of the color choices; one doesn t have to watch the film multiple times to get it .
The goal of Doctor Zhivago was to illustrate that eternal love and hope amidst war and strife is
possible which is reinforced by connecting war with neutral colors. However, even amongst saddening
times, perseverance will bring about moments of color and positivity. In addition, color can also

the yellow stands out visually, the audience is able to make the connection that Lara stands out to Yuri
despite the chaos in Moscow. As Yuri looks at the field of daffodils, he himself is reminded of Lara
and smiles. The shot then slowly fades out from the daffodils and transitions onto Lara s face. The
color yellow symbolizes the pulsation of life that has figured throughout the story which ties into how
Zhivago means life (The Art of Film, p. 72 73). In such a war torn setting, these little daffodils
symbolize love, hope, and life among the neutrals and the chaos. The film successfully communicates
the importance of perseverance through the color yellow by slowly slowly sprinkling it throughout the
film, allowing yellow to [acquire] emotional meaning in sequence and in time (The Art of Film, p. 72

Body Dysmorphic Disorder Research Paper
Body dysmorphic disorder is a distinct mental illness, which causes an individual to become obsessive
on focusing on their flaws in appearance, and to others the flaw may be minor or not visible. It is also
known as dysmorphophobia. Patients affected by BDD have deeply negative thoughts about their
appearance. In the limbic system, hyperactivity causes individuals to feel as if they are constantly
being critiqued and negatively judged by others. Individuals diagnosed with the illness often look into
surgery for their physical appearance to enhance. There are more than 200,000 cases a year involving
body dysmorphic disorder, and about 1 in 50 people are affected (Phillips, 2004). Constantly

on their body. This allows them to rethink whether or not the flaw is actually significant. Those with
BDD are taught to non judgmentally accept the uncomforted feeling of their past situations. That is

International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption
There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic
adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and
teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise,
children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with
accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually
required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet
with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child
from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is
impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or
personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted
internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor
delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not
available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and
approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S.
Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of
matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified
by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any
available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special
needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to
proceed or decline the child referral. If the family agrees to continue, then the child will be officially
assigned as being in the adoption process by the adoptive parents.
Travel, Court Hearing and Finalization. Following the referral and child assignment, preparation will
be made to adopt the child identified. Forms such

Man s Fate
Satre defines existence as absurd and having no purpose, but through the absurdity you must make
your own meaning of your life. You cannot depend on anyone else, you must depend on yourself.
Existentialism is the theory that you, as a person, control your own actions. Throughout Man s Fate,
Malraux, exemplifies many ideas of existentialism. The characters in Man s Fate believe that their
identities are defined through the actions they display. Especially in the time frame the novel is
written, during the Chinese Revolution. The characters believe their actions throughout the revolution
define who they are as a person, and will bring honor to their names.

Key Themes In The Film Kramer V. Kramer
The movie Kramer v. Kramer is about a man named Billy Kramer, who is left with his son for 18
months. After those 18 months Kramer devolves a bond with his son that he didn t have in the past
years. After those 18 months Kramer s wife comes to take the child back by filing for custody. There
are a few key themes from the movie Kramer v Kramer. One of the main themes is the theme about
men being able to take care of children just as good as a female. This movie helped change America s
perspective on the male parent. Another theme of the movie is that the male should appreciate his wife
and all of her house duties. At this time in America men were more focused on their careers than they
were focused on their wives. This led to depression and other mental illnesses on women at the time.
The movie Kramer v Kramer starts with Bill Kramer coming home to find out that his wife is leaving
him. Kramer s wife leaves him because he is too focused on his work and not paying enough attention

the perspective of a female more than a male. The film maker had an agenda to bring this legal issue
to the movie screen to hopefully change opinions on the issue. The issue at the time was that men didn

The Learning Organisation
Organisational learning and learning organisations have been the focus of a great deal of evaluation
within management literature since the 1990 s (Senge, 1990; Michaux, 2002). This paper aims to
define and critically evaluate the concept of a learning organisation by drawing on the writings of core
authors to both support and demonstrate criticisms of the learning organisation concept.
The Learning Organisation
Organisational learning is a continual process whereby an organisation adapts to its environment by
constantly improving performance through evolving knowledge and understanding by its members
and the organisation (Hartel, Strybosch Blyth, 2006). A learning organisation, on the other hand, is an
organisation which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of organisational learning required by an organisation will be dependent on its own
distinctive characteristics and considering the type of organisation and its operating environment, it
may not always be beneficial for an organisation to be a learning organisation (Hartel et al. 2006:
292).
The concept of the learning organisation gained wide acceptance from the works of Peter Senge who
is most well known for his body of work entailed The Fifth Discipline. Here, Senge (1990: 3)
introduces the notion of systems thinking and defines a learning organisation as one where people
continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive
patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are
continually learning to see the whole together . However, the concept of systems thinking has been
around since the 1950 s but it was not until Senge s writings that it gained popularity and momentum.
Whilst it is necessary for an organisation to apply adaptive or survival learning an example which
would be adapting to changes in the current environment, Senge (1990) asserts that a true learning
organisation is characterised by generative learning which is learning that enhances its capacity to
innovate and create. Generative learning and the

Introduction
Solidification is process through which crystalline materials, such as metals and alloys, transform
from non crystallized state into crystallized state. This process is a basic technique used in alloy
casting, growth of single phase semiconductors, welding and etc. We need to understand what s
happening during solidification and how it affect the structure of final materials, which directly
determines the properties of products. Besides, a proper set of solidification parameters also helps to
improve energy efficiency.
Principle of solidification process
1. Nucleation
The whole process begins with the creation of a combination of atoms randomly, followed by
stabilization of these tiny cores (homogeneous nucleation). Thermodynamics plays an important role
because it determines if the liquid continues to solidify or remains in equilibrium.

Cosmia Analysis
Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an
orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of
grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song
invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological
aspects.
The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to
note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a
section to another.
Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the
music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song,
as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is
somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece,
dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus
gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section
A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the
verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement
which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in

clubbed into dank submission./be on the watch. ( Bukowski 1 3). In lines 4 through 7 the poem is
telling the reader, that no matter what situation, how desperate it may appear, if you just look for it
there is always hope and a way to escape. Look at the positive things in life because it always trumps

You only get one opportunity at this life and Bukowski wants the reader to use it. . you can t beat

goods instead of quantity. ii. Major social problems. E.g. concern on pollution of our environment,
social responsible marketing, concern of safety in occupation and in products etc. iii. Growing
consumerlisation. This is concern with the customer satisfaction. The marketers are now called upon
not only to deliver goods of high standards but also assure quality of life of its customers and all
citizens.

Coins In Shakespeare s Othello
Heads or tails? The attribute of a coin is that there are two sides, with each side opposing the other.
The qualities of two sides, two forces being antagonistic to one another is predominant in Shakespeare
s play Othello. For some critics of the play, Iago and Othello are two sides of a coin with Iago
representing the evil side and Othello the good side. Although a case could be made for this stance, the
side of the argument holding the antithesis is the most logical, appropriate, sensible, and rational
argument since the two characters qualities of good and evil overlap throughout the play. This
argument is supported by the concentrate and palpable characteristics of a coin: secure, solid, stable;
the coin has two sides, heads and tails, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the course of the play, it is evident that some characters saw Othello as good while others
saw him as evil. In the first act, senator Brabantio tells Othello, O thou foul thief, where hast thou
stow d my daughter? (1.3). Others, such as Iago, see Othello has a fair and righteous person, a person
representing the good side of the coin. Iago tells Othello, My lord, you know I love you (3.3). By
showing two different views of Othello it is evident that Othello is viewed as good and evil in
Shakespearian society. Like Othello, society sees Iago as being a good man while others note his evil
nature. Shortly after being fired from his position as Othello s lieutenant, Cassio appraises Iago, good
night, honest Iago (2.3). During an argument between Emilia and Iago, Emilia shouts, Villany, villany,
villany! (5.2). By having different characters in Othello express different views on the same person, it
is pellucid that Iago was coined as a good person and as an evil person. By showing that Iago and
Othello both have a good and evil side, it is clearly evident that they do not represent to the two sides
of the coin in which one side is strictly good and the other side strictly

Mentoring in the Workplace
Executive Summary Some major business executives may say that earlier in their career they
established a mentor relationship that helped them to get to where they are in their career. Research
has shown that this statement can be true for some executives but not for all. Some experts believe that
just having mentor relationships can or cannot affect someone s career path and development. The
purpose of this paper is to explain exactly what mentoring is and how it successful works within the
workplace environment. Using support from various scholarly articles, I was able to discuss define the
concept of mentoring and how it relates within the workplace setting. Using this concept, I establish
the role of the mentor and mentee in regards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communication is key at the beginning of the relationship, mentees have to express to their mentors
their needs, future goals, and the kind of help they want from the mentoring relationship (Moore,
Miller, Pitchford Jeng 2008, p.78). Mentees should not be consumed with having the perfect mentor,
but should use their energy to invest in the mentoring relationship, and give it time to grow and
develop where trust and respect are one in the same (Janasz, Sullivan, Whiting, 2003, p. 84). Mentors
and mentees should establish a structure to their relationship in order for both parties to achieve
something out of it.
Establishment of Mentoring Relationships When a company establishes a corporate mentoring
program there are some factors that have to be considered. There has to be an understanding of the
organizational dynamics, and use these dynamics to create strategy, process, and programs for the
mentoring relationships (Friday Friday, 2002, p.154) The purpose of having a strategy for corporate
mentoring is to have it align with the objectives and long term goals of the organization. Without an
efficient strategy in place there cannot be a process or programs established. Once a mentoring
program is established, the organization should decide what type of mentoring relationship they want
to institute. There are two types of mentoring relationships, informal and formal. An informal
mentoring relationship is one that is not created

Individualism Vs. Collectivism In The Fountainhead By Ayn...
The most meaningful scene in the book is when the new college graduate goes for a bike ride and
discovers the Monadnock Valley resort. This scene and the ensuing scandal around the resort
beautifully exemplify Ayn Rand s overall theme of The Fountainhead: individualism versus
collectivism, not in politics, but in man s soul. (The Fountainhead Course / lesson eight, Themes of the
Fountainhead: Individualism Versus Collectivism)
The college graduate sees this amazing town that is built into the hills and he thinks, one could no
longer imagine the hills as beautiful without them as if the centuries and the series of chances that
produced these ledges in the struggle of great blind forces had waited for their final expression. (p.

reputation and feels rejection. Toohey is consumed with collectivism and actively promotes it.
Excellence is a threat to him so he does every thing he can to crush it and elevates all forms of
mediocrity. The resort scene was meaningful because it illustrated the wider themes of The
Fountainhead in addition to conveying a true sense of awe and beauty, the author s descriptive

Leaving us with the question as to why people cheat? One of the first things that comes to peoples
mind when thinking of affairs are all set towards Hollywood rumors about celebrities, when in reality
it can happen to anyone; Affairs can occur in happy marriages as well as in troubled ones. Although
the involved spouse may not be getting enough from the marriage, sometimes the involved spouse is
not giving enough. Reasons for EMI include low self esteem, relationship deficits (e.g., lack of
affection), or a social context in which infidelity is condoned. (glass) Even with a non problematic
relationship people can still fall under the pressure of cheating. One factor can include either spouse
losing interest. In some certain cases if either a man or women were to be in fight, and they saw an
attractive person of the opposite sex there would be a higher chance of either person committing an
infidelity. About 30 60% of married American citizens will cheat on their spouse. A marriage s
outcome only reflects the amount of effort that was put into it; Some marriages end in a month and
others last fifty years because of the partners beliefs about one another s veracity. ( Lying ) There are 3
main factors that causes people to cheat: lying, lack of communication, and neglection. All three go

Fairy tales continue to imply women to be dependent on men, like a princess on a prince. Princesses are put on hyper sexualized royal attire, then again to reinforce the idea of the female role and their physical modifications to please men. Little girls are given the idea of becoming a princess like Cinderella. They fantasize about wearing a ball gown and being swept off their feet. Even the strongest female characters in the role plays are most to be saved by a man with wealth and over power. Cinderella is setting a standard for women and limiting female gender roles to full exploration of their femininity. Typically the placement of the female role is perceived as being weaker, smaller and more fragile. Culturally, they are set as being passive and domesticated, all oriented towards submission and weakness. In the story Cinderella is slaved and abused by her step mother and sisters. It is always a competition between the step sisters to be the most beautiful one for the prince. In the dominant narrative by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, they explain the role that Cinderella was given and she was miserable. Looking for an escape her godmother beautifies her. Giving her that perfect look to get the prince s approval. Cinderella had to leave the ball before the spell and lost her slipper. That was how I felt when, in the summer of 2016, my mom decided we would be getting a dog. For the longest time, my sister had been for getting a dog, and this news delighted her to no end. They thought a Golden Retriever would be the best dog for us. I, however, was not with them on the idea. I wanted to spend my time doing things that I wanted to do, not looking after a dog. I knew a dog would be a lot of responsibility. Despite my objections, we visited a breeder who had a litter of Golden Retriever puppies. We chose one during that visit, and we named her Karma. My mom brought my sister and I into her room and made the announcement. They were both clearly devastated. I myself shed no tears until I was in the safety of my own room. All I felt was hate, resentment, fear, and devastation. Out of everything that could have happened, why did she have to go? I continued to ask myself that one question over and over. I felt like it was partially my fault. I questioned if I had done something that would have led to this. We sent her away to find out what had caused her death. They found nothing, and assumed it was a neurological problem. Even now, I look back and wish I had spent more time with Karma and showed her more love. It wasn t that I hated Karma. • 6. Women In Sir Gawain Sir Gawain and the Attitude Towards Women The portrayal of women is constantly being evaluated, in television shows to politics. The gender stereotypes surrounding women are archaic compared to the complete overhaul that the rest of the world has experienced. The 14th century poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight expresses the gender stereotypes at the time: women seen as property of their husbands, being temptations to men and causing their downfall. The unknown author of the poem writes of Sir Gawain, a young, inexperienced knight who enters into a Christmas game with the elusive Green Knight and then embarks on a quest to seek out the Green Knight. Heng claims the whole plot of the poem is directed by women, it is initiated by Morgan le Fey to affect Guenevere and then is carried out by Mary and the Lady who leads Gawain to the Lord s castle and seduce him, respectively. This interpretation of the role of women in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight claims that women have power over the men in the story, portraying women in a positive light. However, the plot that is instigated by women is rooted in malicious intent from a woman towards another woman. As the Green Knight says that Morgan le Fey put this shape upon me to puzzle your wits / To afflict the fair queen, and frighten her to death (2459 2460). Morgan le Fey wants revenge against Guenevere for as legend has it, stopping a romantic affair she has with one of Authur s knights. This petty and trivial quarrel is the basis of the poem s plot. This vengeance pits women against each other and causes Gawain to undergo an immense journey that without this trivial fight would never happen. The plot is not driven by powerful ... • 10. International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise, children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S. Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to proceed or decline the child referral. After those 18 months Kramer devolves a bond with his son that he didn t have in the past years. After those 18 months Kramer s wife comes to take the child back by filing for custody. There are a few key themes from the movie Kramer v Kramer. One of the main themes is the theme about men being able to take care of children just as good as a female. This movie helped change America s perspective on the male parent. Another theme of the movie is that the male should appreciate his wife and all of her house duties. At this time in America men were more focused on their careers than they were focused on their wives. This led to depression and other mental illnesses on women at the time. This paper aims to define and critically evaluate the concept of a learning organisation by drawing on the writings of core authors to both support and demonstrate criticisms of the learning organisation concept. The level of organisational learning required by an organisation will be dependent on its own distinctive characteristics and considering the type of organisation and its operating environment, it may not always be beneficial for an organisation to be a learning organisation (Hartel et al. 2006: 292). The concept of the learning organisation gained wide acceptance from the works of Peter Senge who is most well known for his body of work entailed The Fifth Discipline. Here, Senge (1990: 3) introduces the notion of systems thinking and defines a learning organisation as one where people continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are continually learning to see the whole together . However, the concept of systems thinking has been around since the 1950 s but it was not until Senge s writings that it gained popularity and momentum. Whilst it is necessary for an organisation to apply adaptive or survival learning an example which would be adapting to changes in the current environment, Senge (1990) asserts that a true learning organisation is characterised by generative learning which is learning that enhances its capacity to innovate and create. Eutectic Solidification Process b. Peritectic Solidification Process 4. Conclusion Introduction Solidification is process through which crystalline materials, such as metals and alloys, transform from non crystallized state into crystallized state. This process is a basic technique used in alloy casting, growth of single phase semiconductors, welding and etc. We need to understand what s happening during solidification and how it affect the structure of final materials, which directly determines the properties of products. Besides, a proper set of solidification parameters also helps to improve energy efficiency. Principle of solidification process 1. Nucleation The whole process begins with the creation of a combination of atoms randomly, followed by stabilization of these tiny cores (homogeneous nucleation). Thermodynamics plays an important role because it determines if the liquid continues to solidify or remains in equilibrium. When the environment temperature is below the melting

  • 17. Cosmia Analysis Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological aspects. The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a section to another. Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song, as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece, dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in ... A particularly important influence was Johann Christian Bach, whom Mozart visited in London in 1764 and 1765. The family again went to Vienna in late 1767 and remained there until December 1768. This travel lasted from December 1769 to March 1771. As with earlier journeys, Leopold wanted to display his son s abilities as a performer and a rapidly maturing composer. Wolfgang met G. B. The qualities of two sides, two forces being antagonistic to one another is predominant in Shakespeare s play Othello. For some critics of the play, Iago and Othello are two sides of a coin with Iago representing the evil side and Othello the good side. Although a case could be made for this stance, the side of the argument holding the antithesis is the most logical, appropriate, sensible, and rational argument since the two characters qualities of good and evil overlap throughout the play. Others, such as Iago, see Othello has a fair and righteous person, a person representing the good side of the coin. Iago tells Othello, My lord, you know I love you (3.3).
