Conservation is the ability to understand that as an object changes form, it does not change the overall
amount or mass. In Piaget s theory, he describes that during the pre operational stage of development
children are often incapable of understanding the concept of conservation, the ages in this stage

goes out of his way to make others feel good before himself. It was the year of 2010, the sun was
shining and the wind was slight. I was on my way home from school when my aunt Angie s phone
started ringing. She was driving so she let my cousin Haley answer her phone. It was my dad, he was
calling with the most life changing news I have ever heard. It was about my mom, she couldn t be
found, no one has heard from her all day. My dad made me come home right away. When I got home
he ran over to me and wrapped his soft arms around me and held me so very closely. That life
changing day, has made my dad and I more closer. Since she has been gone, there hasn t been one day
that he hasn t been by my side. Not only is he always there for me he is also a very reliable person. In
our town of Manton, my dad has been a very flexible, helping, and a very patient community member.

Issues present in the text such as imperialism, racism, and moral ambiguity are still present today but
their formats have changed enough in society that Heart of Darkness approaches obsolescence in
perspective. Concurrently, the characters and theme presented in Heart of Darkness are scarce in
