No More Tom Ripley Analysis
No more Tom Ripley than Dickie Greenleaf, he returned to New York City behind a confused veil of
anonymity. Occasionally, a sharp memory would point its way to the forefront of Ripley s mind for
just a moment: a moment that lasted just long enough for the piercing thought to puncture his brain.
Guilt had Ripley in a stranglehold, periodically loosening its grip to allow fear to take over. Caught in
a downward spiral that disguised itself as an endless loop, Ripley found himself regretting decisions
he hadn t yet made. Enough trauma came about on the trip back to New York: twenty four hour cycles
comprising mental re enactments of Peter s death, staring at blank walls, and wondering how many
extra murders it would take to cover the previous ones up. Ripley could never progress while brooding
in a sombre cabin without so much as even a smirched window for a glimmer of light, let alone solve
his problems entirely. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the good intentions subsided once fear of Meredith, Marge, and Dickie s parents meeting
struck in. It was difficult to comprehend how such a small event such as Marge convincing Greenleafs
about Dickie s death could spark such an immense series of repercussions for Ripley. After all, New
York City was a small place when you considered the tight social circles of the Greenleafs wealthy
lifestyles. Ripley s mind had grown accustomed to a certain path of thinking, funnelling into an
obvious solution; but the Greenleafs might not have even gone close to encountering Marge since he
had returned, and Meredith may have still been in Italy, for all he knew. It wasn t a path he wanted to
follow, but then, it never

Essay On Achondroplasia
History
Achondroplasia is the most common diagnosis and most frequent form of those who are considered to
be dwarfs ( Learning About , 2016). When one thinks of dwarfism, they think of a short stature with
short arms, legs, and a large head. It occurs in one in every 15,000 to one in 40,000 live births (
Learning About , 2016). According to BBC News (2005), researchers found that the earliest biological
evidence of dwarfs dates back to a Predynastic Period called the Badarian Period (4500 BC) in
addition to several skeletons from the Old Kingdom (2700 2190 BC). There has been evidence of
dwarfism in ancient Egyptian times. Dwarfs were held in high regard in ancient Egypt even having
two dwarf gods that they worshiped named Ptah and Bes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obesity can be a common factor in achondroplasia and steps to avoid it is recommended to start in
early childhood (Learning About, 2016). If difficulty breathing or sleep apnea has been observed,
there are surgical options to help correct these issues. There are also medical tests to evaluate signs of
spinal cord compression and hypotonia that are recommended (Learning About, 2016). If a reduced
foramen magnum size is observed in medical tests, there may be a need for suboccipital compression
to reduce pressure on the spinal cord (Achondroplasia, n.d.). Middle ear infections are quite common
in accompanying this disease and must be managed accordingly (Achondroplasia, n.d.). Other
management strategies may be less thought about, however, those growing and living with this disease
face many hardships that those of normal stature do not. This poses psychological turmoil that can be
prevented by talking with therapists available to help guide those through this challenging but
overcoming process (Rasmussen,

Hamlet Foils
Decisions
In the play Hamlet, Shakespeare incorporates the theme that an individual s decisions, whether
conscious or unconscious, which are made on earth will foreshadow their outcome in the afterlife.
Shakespeare establishes this theme through the contrast of the character foils, Hamlet and Laertes.
While both characters do act upon their decisions, Shakespeare clearly shows the difference between
the influences of their actions. Hamlet commits his actions in an unconscious states as he suffered
from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which occurs when an individual has, exposure to trauma
involving death (Canadian Mental Health Association, para. 1). Therefore, predestining him to
Purgatory. Meanwhile, Laertes commits his actions in full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This action shows that Laertes intentionally committed mortal sin, as he had, full knowledge and
consent to his actions (CCC 1857). Hence, making Laertes was aware of what he was doing and where
these actions will lead him to Hell. In addition, Laertes shows a disrespect towards the Claudius,
calling him a vile king (4.5.114). During the Elizabethan era, the King was viewed as the messenger
on earth for God (Wilson 1). With the King being viewed as God s representative, Laertes s decision
to call Claudius vile is him further condemning himself to Hell because he is not only insulting the kill
but God. According to Catholic principles,a person goes to Hell when they, die in mortal sin without
repenting and accepting God s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own
free choice (CCC 1033). In regards to Laertes s actions and the Catholic definition of who qualifies
for Hell, it is evident that Laertes is on the highway to Hell. Thus, Laertes s destination to Hell is an
predictable fate. Laertes will go to Hell an exact result of his conscious action to sin against God and

The Idea Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
Indian Removal Many people today would question whether the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was
constitutional or not. While the idea took many years to develop, it was in fact, a traumatic experience.
When prompted to do so, the Indians of their own land were forced to leave everything they had ever
known and walk along what is known as the trail of tears . This was a one thousand mile trek that took
about two months to complete. According to Steven Mintz chapter titled, Indian Removal thousands
of Natives were lost along the long, treacherous walk. Those who refused to walk were eventually
forced to, by being bound together and marched in a double file line down the Trail of Tears. Whether
or not it was safer for the Indians to leave their home, it was torture. They were forced to endure
things that no human should ever have to go through. Were the Indians forced to leave, because the
Americans were too concerned with their own being? Many people today question this, as it has
happened many different times in history with many different minorities and groups of people. What
makes Americans so much better than anyone else? The first person to raise the idea of the Indian
Removal was Thomas Jefferson. In Peter Onuf s book, The Mind of Thomas Jefferson , he notes that
Jefferson initiated the idea of the removing process westward. (106). However it was not until Andrew
Jackson became president that this process took effect. In the beginning, the idea of removing the

Live Electronics Essay
1.1 Research Goal The object of the proposed research is to build an authoring system for
performance of live electronics which will simplify the compositional workflow, easy the performance
and ensure the preservation. The main idea is to extend Common Western Music Notation(CWMN) to
the field of algorithmic thinking as a method for creating an abstract and cohesive representation of
the underlying logic and instrumental parts for the live electronics genre. Along with this new
notation, it is necessary to develop an authoring/performance technology environment which will
enable us to represent and execute the logical layer of the piece and composing a series of live
electronic pieces as a means for exploring, developing and evaluating ... Show more content on

Thus, the introduction of any new notational mechanisms must be designed as an organic whole about
the traditional interpretation of signs and symbols regarding music semiotics. However, it is important
to note here, that the scope of this goal is constrained to the semantics domain, as in broad sense the re
interpretation of a musical score as a logical descriptor is radical in nature. The choose of CWMN as
main descriptor of music related events is justified for the fact that CWMN is still in wide sue among
the composer community, Kurt Stone wrote regarding this fact [Stone, 1980]. In spite of the new
notational signs generated since early 1950s, a major part of our era s music, whether serious or not,
has been, still is, and probably will continue to be written either entirely by means of traditional
notation or with a mixture of old and new signs and procedures. A second important aspect relates to a
practical performance aspect. In Western Music, staff notation plays an active role in the pursuit of
communicating a complex musical idea created by the composer during the live performance. All
relevant performance information is carefully detailed in the score parts, so the score plays two roles
in the communication system, a passive role

Economic Benefits Of Wolf Packs
In the first scenario wolf pack are able to hunt reindeers easily, because there are less wolf packs
competing for a limited number of resources. This would mean that the wolf pack would use less
energy in hunting by using ambush tactics that require more time and are usually less effective than
the traditional hunting methods, but it would offset this with an economic gain in terms of calories.
Another reason might be just the fact that prey is more readily available and wolves have the
opportunity to hunt more. Both scenarios produce an economic benefit for the wolves because they are
going to acquire more calories than they spent. The described situation is not a perfect competition.
However, as previously mentioned other wolf packs can enter the valley without any restriction and
they are going to seize this arbitrage opportunity until there is no economic profit and the cost of
hunting equals its benefits. The behavior of the wolf packs will be the same in the perfect competition
market and there will be no readjustment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are too much wolf packs and some of them are unable to prey on reindeers on a regular basis.
On a general level this would mean that the costs of hunting ( producing ) are higher than equilibrium
price (calories gained). As a result some firms are going to exit the market (Again, there are no
barriers to entry/exit). The wolf packs will be underfed and some will either die out of hunger or
decide to leave the valley. This will decrease the number of sellers, hence the supply and drive the
equilibrium price up only to the point at which all wolf packs in the valley are able to gather enough
calories to maintain

Fort Myers Descriptive Writing
The almost deserted airport, the freezing cold plane ride, my noisy family; yes, we are definitely ready
for a vacation! Hot Florida sun and a ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see were all awaiting
us. The thrill of it all ran from the top of my head to the bottom of my flip flops that will surely be on
the beach in no time. Looking out the window of the airplane with popping ears, we came into landing
at the Fort Myers airport! The heavy luggage pulled my arms down while walking out of the airport to
find a rental car. The Florida sun and a hot breeze blew on my face, instantly lightening my drowsy
mood. Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting
directly in the sun with a sweatshirt and pants on was unpleasant. Honking the horns on both of the

This was the day I went parasailing for the first time! I have always wanted to go and now I finally got
the chance. Of course, we had to wait in an incredibly long line, but Dairy Queen fixed the problem.
After waiting about 30 minutes it was my aunt and I s turn to go on the boat that would take us out to
parasail. A few miles out into the open ocean later, and we arrived at a bigger boat that held the
parasails. The clicks of the buckles around my waist boosted my adrenaline even higher than it already
was. 3, 2, 1, goodbye! Off we went, the wind catching our parasail and gliding us up further and
further in the air. Now, after getting up as high as 800 feet above the water, I got a little nervous. I
thought we would be sitting on more of a seat, but all we were placed on were seat belts!
Nevertheless, the views were breathtaking. I could see so much of Fort Myers and so much ocean
below me. I wanted the experience to last longer than 7

Chris announced that things are being switched up this week and there will be a second two on one

picking Wells and he was clearly asked to kiss her. His date card read: If you don t kiss me on this date

My Loving Daughter Connie Is A Beacon Of Light
My loving daughter Connie was a beacon of light in our lives. She was a caring, compassionate and
kind girl with so much love to give. She was taken from us too early, and had her whole life ahead of
her. Connie s sickness was terrible and god took her pain away and brought her to heaven. She was
loved by everyone she met and always could brighten up someone s day with her beautiful smile.
Connie was so intelligent and knew so many things. Her life was cut too short, but we didn t deserve

understand those things; he was just grieving. Francis seemed to be genuinely sad about his sister, but
they never did have that same relationship as her and Kip did. Francis was away at school most of the
time so it was understandable. I saw through the glass window that there was a young man running up
to the doorway, he was wearing army greens. I did not want Jack Husting, the cause of my daughter s
death, to be attending her funeral. His childish blonde hair was waving around frantically as he poked
his head through each window trying to see inside. he yelled out to me. Mrs Westaway, please let me
see her, please I beg you! . there was no way that boy was getting in. I lowered my gaze to the floor,
and walked patiently back to where I was previously seated. Mrs Westaway, Kip!!
Kip looked up at Jack with a look of sadness, and then looked over at me. He may not be allowed in,
Kip. I said quietly.
Jacks voice was cracking as he kept begging to be let in. he knocked his fists on the door and the
walls. Kip looked at me once again and then picked himself up off of his seat. his eyes were

A Report Analyzing The Viability Of The Nuclear Fusion
Dear Upper Hutt City Council
Today I am writing you a report analysing the viability of the use of Nuclear Fusion as a energy source
in your community. I will analyse the feasibility of this kind of nuclear power in your community by
firstly explaining what nuclear fusion is and how it works. I will then use calculations to estimate how
this new energy produced could compare to the amount of energy used by the city currently.
Nuclear Fusion occurs when two small nuclei fuse to form a larger nucleus (this is not to be confused
with fission). A large amount of energy is released, which can be explained simply enough by the
binding energy per nucleon. The nucleons in extremely small nuclei have more energy than those in
slightly larger nuclei. Because these nucleons have more energy, they have less binding energy per
nucleon (because the same total binding energy must be split evenly, therefore more energy=less
binding energy to go around). Because of this, when the reaction of two smaller nuclei fusing takes
place, the nucleons must have to lose energy. The subsequent energy that they lose is the energy that is
released. For all of this to happen, a fusion reaction requires utterly immense temperature of millions
of degrees celcius, just in order to force the nuclei to move fast enough to fuse and stick.
The Prime example of Nuclear Fusion is the sun. It is obvious that atoms do not rest: the hotter they
get, the quicker they move. Temperatures reach 15,000,000° C in the

Cleopatr The Ruler Behind The Myth
Final Paper | Cleopatra Unearthed: The Ruler Behind the Myth Adunola Sonaike HST323, Sect.
17196: Themes in Roman Republican and Imperial History Prof. Sandra Gambetti May 24th,
2015Introduction: Cleopatra Who? Who was Cleopatra? Who is Cleopatra? Portrayed as both
goddess and monster in her own lifetime, through the ages she has become both saint and sinner,
heroine and victim, femme fatale and star crossed lover, politician and voluptuary, black and white. A
protean figure, Cleopatra defies categorization. 1 So began Prudence J. Jones introduction in her
edited text, Cleopatra: A Sourcebook. Jones claims Cleopatra was a chameleon in the skin of an
Egyptian Pharaoh. As such she molded herself to fit what would best procure her the much needed
tactics to strengthen and maximize the power she inherited. As the world changed, so did their
perception of Cleopatra; and, in turn every generation construed her differently: from evil seductress,
ill fated star crossed lover to renewed empowering feminist icon. The Cleopatra painted in this paper
will decidedly be more reserved, acutely un promiscuous, sharp witted, resilient, and less beautiful
than her literary and culturally shambolic counterpart; the Cleopatra history wished to hide. One
cannot help but to find Cleopatra tremendously impressive and more or less frightening. This woman
was up against incredible odds, and before she knew it her story was over. She was provided a losing
hand, yet went along

PESTLE Analysis on Tesco
Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly
believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on Tesco as
it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and Europe. For
this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal structures,
impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they play a major role
in relation to one another.
When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with
locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political and
legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the government
really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower paid, local based
jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet certain demands
relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company understands that while being in
the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the work place (the development of new
stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors due to the fact that the traditional stores go
out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in order to being able to compete) as being a
fundamentally local and labour intensive sector.

Arvo Lake, a retired seventy one year old man, bought an air conditioner in May. The unit was
installed and operated according to the manufacturer s specifications. Unbeknownst to Lake, the unit
contained a hole in the refrigeration system that allowed Freon, the coolant, to escape from the unit.
By August, the unit had ceased cooling, and Lake s residence reached a temperature of at least 96
degrees Fahrenheit. The heat caused Lake to suffer from hyperthermia, which caused circulatory
failure and then death. The executor of Lake s estate sued the manufacturer of the air conditioner for
damages resulting from breach of warranty.

For a manufacturer to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The large number of handlers in the process of manufacturing and packaging a product typically
makes it difficult to prove when and how the manufacturer was negligent.
The breach of the warranty is that the A/C was defective due to a design defect, and the manufacture is
liable for the harm it cause to Lake
Breach of warranty based product liability claims usually focus on one of three types:
1. Breach of an express warranty An express warranty is a guarantee from the seller of a product that
specifies the extent to which the quality or performance of the product is assured and states the
conditions under which the product can be returned, replaced, or repaired. It is often given in the form
of a specific, written Warranty document. However, a warranty may also arise by operation of law
based upon the seller s description of the goods, and perhaps their source and quality, and any material
deviation from that specification would violate the guarantee. For example, an advertisement
describing a product is often full of express warranties; the product must substantially conform to
what is advertised. Many advertisers insert disclaimers for this purpose (e.g., actual
color/mileage/results may vary , or not shown actual size ). Commonly, written warranties will assure
the buyer that an article is of good quality and against defects in materials and workmanship. A
warranty may also apply to services that

What Is The Spirit Of The Scarlet Letter In Chapter 18
Terrence Martin makes an interesting point in this discussion of Hester in chapter 18 when he asserts
that the spirit of the scarlet letter has caused Hester to oppose to the spirit of law itself. In this chapter,
Hawthorne portrays Hester as a strong minded and independent woman. She is encouraging
Dimmesdale to join Pearl and her in Europe, to leave behind the society they live in and even goes as
far as to remove her scarlet letter and cap. Having been an outcast from society for so long gave
Hester a freedom that was foreign to the minister. The scarlet letter provided Hester with a passport
into regions where other women dare not go (Hawthorne 317). Hester had a natural bold and fearless
mind, that being labeled and outlawed out of society

As we begin the twenty first century, an increasing number of states around the world are acquiring
nuclear capabilities. The sense of insecurity by individual governments is driving many states into
developing and testing ballistic missiles. In the mean time, the United States finds itself in a position

Disturbed by the Rumsfeld report, Capital Hill responded immediately by passing two bills. The first
bill known as S. 257 stated, It is the policy of the United States to deploy as soon as is technologically
possible an effective National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of United
States against limited ballistic missile attack . The S.257 was followed by a second bill named H.R. 4
passed in March of 1999 that stated, It is the policy of the United States to deploy a national missile

The proposal of the National Missile Defense System by Capitol Hill is a clear example of the
international security dilemma, where the United States desire to become more secure compromises
other states security. By setting up a missile defense to escape the power of other states, this will only
create insecurity in the international arena that will prompt other states to react with their own missile
defense system. This dynamia can also be seen through the prisoner s dilemma diagram (Figure 1).

The Gospel Of Mark Is A Fast Moving
The Gospel of Mark is a fast moving, succinct, and informative gospel thought to be originally written
by John Mark, using Simon Peter s eye witness accounts. The author seems to place emphasis around
the meaningful events and moments in the life of Jesus Christ, such as his suffering, crucifixion, and
messianic secret. However, the gospel is primarily centered around Jesus teachings, especially honing
in on the beginning of Jesus Ministry. Jesus as a teacher and the discipleship are key factors to the
gospel s proposed message Jesus Christ gave his life in service to the world. Therefore, humans are to
learn from his message and teachings. In Mark 12:38 44, these themes of discipleship, suffering, and
Jesus as a teacher are represented as there is an obvious gap between the affluent scribes offering for
the treasury and the widow s gift of all that she had to live on (NRSV, Mark 12:44). Jesus takes this
opportunity to continue his teaching by summoning his disciples and pointing out the different
contributions to the temple treasury, while making a notable commentary on the social and socio
economic situation that the scribes have created a situation that lead to poverty for the widow. In Mark
12:38 40, Jesus explicitly denounces the scribes as he teaches. He warns the disciples about the
scribes, providing insight into the social threat that they (scribes) bring. He says, Beware of the
scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with

The Art Of Budgeting During The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time of hardship and sacrifice for many families across Canada. With
many unemployed married men out roaming across Canada, looking for any means of income, it was

why many families survived the 1930s? To answer this question I will look at how Canadian
housewives managed the family finances, influenced change in their communities and made sacrifices
to make sure their families could make it to the next month. In my essay I will first look at how many
Canadian women mastered the art of careful budgeting during the great depression. Much like the

Utilitarianism By John Stuart Mill
Analysis Paper 2 In the essay Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill, he explains his support for
utilitarianism and argues any misconceptions of it. In his essay he talks about the difference between
higher and lower pleasures and what significance they have in his utilitarian moral theory. His theory
is based on the rule that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as
they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. Many people experience different kinds of pleasure and
he talks about how they can differ in quality and quantity. Mills talks about higher and lower pleasures
and what they mean. Higher and lower pleasures are two things that bring someone pleasure but
pleasure one brings greater pleasure than pleasure 2. Although pleasure 2 brings the person happiness,
pleasure 1 has a greater affect on their happiness and the person will always choose pleasure 1. Even
is the quantity is greater in pleasure two they will still choose pleasure one because of the quality.
Typically when someone experiences the higher pleasure they will not choose the lower pleasure
when given the option. Once people have experienced a higher pleasure they will never want to go
back to choosing the lower pleasure except in extreme circumstances. For example someone might get
pleasure from eating McDonalds, but one day they decide to go to chipotle instead and find out that
they like it much better than McDonalds. The next time that person is hungry and having to

doing this, you will not only augment the appearance of your home but by refurbishing the old
cabinets you can also get done the task without much cost.
An impressive addition to your house during San Diego kitchen remodel would be custom cabinetry
and if you can do that without expending a fortune, then there is no superior deal. You can have the
advantage, gorgeousness and the functionality of custom made cabinets at half the rate that you would
spend purchasing new sets of cupboards. Rather than changing the whole prevailing set of cabinets,
making some simple modifications is a much better and low priced choice that gives worthy
outcomes. When there are many kinds of custom cabinets available in the market, there is no need to

readymade ones. When you ponder custom cabinets, there is

Summary Of Ain T No Makin It By Jay Macleod
The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest
if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No
Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of
lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly
African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. The Brothers
grow up in homes with parents who strictly enforce the power of education and have slightly stable
jobs, while the Hallway Hangers grow up in homes where their parents are often not present and do
not value the power of education. These beliefs translate through ... Show more content on

Ultimately, the two groups end up with jobs that are not too different from one another, exemplifying
the faults in the achievement ideology. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel
that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the
flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of
color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not
enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also
contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and
class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other
hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of
the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre
Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers
permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. While
the Brothers exhibit a higher quality of life and ultimately have less regrets and legal repercussions,
they end with careers that are not much

Comparison Of Evidence And Pattern Evidence
Comparison of latent fingerprints found at the crime scene with exemplar prints, comparison of bite
marks on a victim, DNA evidence, hair and fibre matching are some of the example of pattern
comparison in forensic science (Coyle, Field Wenderoth, 2009). Comparison of pattern evidence in
forensic science is to determine whether the same kind of the properties of forensic traces may have
come from a common (or related source) (Found Edmond, 2012). There are varieties of techniques in
forensic pattern evidence that make associations between physical traces. The association of one or
more traces might be helpful in the investigation of a crime that usually can support an inference
(Cole, Berthental Seelagy, 2016).
Pattern evidence is any item where a mark or impression has been made during criminal activity with
the purpose of associating the mark with the object or implement that made it. Although fingerprints

A Patient With An Acute Pancreatic Attack
Imbalanced nutrition
The next step in treating a patient with an acute pancreatic attack is focusing on the patient s current
diet and nutrition status. The patient experiencing an acute pancreatitis will need many diet
modifications to limit the amount of stimulation to the stomach. However, the patient s nutrition status
must be closely monitored and the appropriate interventions to maintain the patient s health must be
implemented. Acute pancreatitis is a hypermetabolic and hypercatabolic event. Therefore, treatment
and maintenance of an individual with acute pancreatitis is contradicting itself. Interventions for this
nursing diagnosis include; assessing bowel sounds, maintaining a NPO status, initiating a parental

An NG tube with suctioning would also be used if the patient was vomiting frequently. NG suction
may be used to reduce vomiting and gastric distention and to prevent gastric acid contents from
entering the duodenum (Croghan, 2014, pg. 1032).
Enteral and Parenteral nutrition
Since the mainstay treatment of acute pancreatitis is an NPO diet, how do we provide proper nutrition
for a patient experiencing an acute pancreatitis event? With as many of 20% of patients with acute
pancreatitis not receiving adequate nutrition, different methods of nutritional support must be used
(Quatrara, 2011, pg. 2). Enteral nutrition is when formula is administered to the patient via feeding
tube. This tube can be placed in the stomach or small intestine. Current evidence now points that
enteral nutrition is providing to be beneficial in patient treatment. The American Gastroenterological
Association (AGA) and the American Society for parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
recommend jejunal feeding as the preferred route for treating those with SAP and reducing
complications (Quatrara, 2011, pg. 8). Some of the available research in enteral feedings includes a
list of AACN practice recommendations. For a patient with pancreatitis the tip of the enteral feeding
tube should be past the ligament of Treitz (Quatrara, 2011, pg. 9). Other suggestions on enteral feeding
and acute pancreatitis include initiating feeding

Literary Explication Of Acquainted With The Night
Literary Explication of Acquainted with The Night In the poem Acquainted with The Night by Robert
Frost, the speaker of the poem has walked around at night a lot in his life. He has walked away and
back to somewhere in the rain. He has walked in the city and beyond, perhaps out of the city. He has
been down the lonely dark streets. He walks by a watchman, but did not look because he did not want
to have to give an explanation of what he was doing there. He has stopped to listen to a voice calling
out from another street, hoping that is was someone that was looking for him. The speaker looks up at
a luminary clock , which is the moon, but was not very satisfied with the time that it has shown. He
ends up referring to the first line of the poem, he has been acquainted with the night. Robert Frost uses
symbolism, setting, and the speaker himself to tell the story of the man who has been acquainted with
the night. The first literary element used in Acquainted with The Night is symbolism. Darkness and
light are used in the poem, more being the lack of light. The poem could be seen as a metaphor of
depression and loneliness. Even though it is night time, the moon still reaches the streets, a symbol of
hope. The first line establishes the setting of the poem, I have been ... Show more content on

The First World War
The first world war was one of the most brutal and remorseless events in history; the global conflict
that defined a century . Over nine million soldiers and a large amount of innocent civilians lost their
lives. Empires crumbled, revolution engulfed Russia and America rose to become a dominant world
power. Huge armies deployed new weapons of devastating effect from rifles and pistols to torpedoes
and flame throwers. These weapons were used not only in the trenches but by tanks too. This was an
advantage to those who were able to access such machinery as they could easily launch bullets and
missiles at nearby enemy bases. The downfall of the tank was the fact it was unable to cross the
trenches. Tanks were not the only pieces of equipment that could access this machinery but U boats
and planes too. The British carried bolt action rifles in which fired 15 rounds per minute at a minimum
range of 1,400 metres away. This allowed the British to take out foes at a far greater range. By using
machinery in which rules out the need for getting up close to the enemy was a great advantage during
world war one. Soldiers ran from trench to trench attacking with all that they had. This resulted in a
massacre as the soldiers running toward the trenches were shot down. Machinery such as machine
guns and heavy artillery were the weapons used in the trenches. In modern day society, machine guns
are the main weapons used by soldiers. This wasn t the case around the 1914s. They took four

How Does Nature Influence Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Emily Dickinson lived a large period of her life isolated from the outside world, surrounded by her
close family and friends. It is apparent that with most of her spare time, she wrote poems and letters.
Dickinson s poems were heavily influenced by the gothic movement in the 19th century of America,
and her fascination with nature that is exposed through her continuous theme of nature being the
source of joy or pain in your life. Both Dickinson s curiosity about nature, and the gothic movement,
influenced the recurring theme in her poems, which is displayed in the analysis of Because I Could
Not Stop for Death .

Firstly, the repetition in the phrase we passed in the third stanza shows that the nature of humans is to
go through different stages in life before death. Dickinson ends the third stanza with the line We
passed the Setting Sun which is the last stage of life, death. This reveals that at the start, the first stage
of life is to go through school, study and get educated. By the time humans grow up, mature, and grow
old it is the setting sun; which means that life is almost over, the way the sunsets there is just a bit of
sunlight left before nighttime (either rephrase the entire sentence or remove the highlighted part). Life
is the same way; humans should not fear death because it is a normal stage of living. One of the main
reasons Dickinson wrote this, is because she strongly believes that there is eternity and that afterlife
does exist. She saw it as a glorious and exciting time because everyone would be in heaven. This view
was influenced by her upbringing in a Christian home and was a Bible reader. Moreover, Dickinson
refers to the grave as her house in the line, We paused before a House that Seemed. This exemplifies
that Dickinson is very comfortable and pleased with the idea of death, leaving this life, and the
afterlife. She experienced many family deaths in her lifetime, like her mother, father, and

What Is The Isolation Of Limonene From Citrus Fruits
Chirality Isolation of Limonene from Citrus Fruits Introduction: Terpenes are a large and varied class
of hydrocarbons produced by a wide variety of plants. Many essential oils belong to the terpene class.
They are made up of two or more five carbon units that are called isoprenes. Limonene is a terpene
that can be separated from orange peels almost 100% in the (R) (+) limonene form. Other citrus fruits
like lemons, grapefruits, limes, and tangerines contain the compound as well. The purity of the oil
extracted from the oranges can be determined by physical properties such as optical rotation and
refractive index. In this experiment, limonene will be isolated by steam distillation. Normally, big

turned off after the temperature of the steam stayed constant. The distillation continued until
approximately 40 mL of the liquid was obtained. The 40 mL of distillate was transferred to a 250 mL
separatory funnel. A small amount of dichloromethane was used to wash the receiver after the
transferal. The distillate was extracted with 10 mL of dichloromethane three times, each time using a
little extra dichlormethane to wash each layer. The organic layer on the bottom was collected for each
extraction. All organic layers were collected in a 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Anhydrous sodium sulfate
was used to dry the solution for fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, a vacuum filtration apparatus was set up
accordingly. A 250 mL filter flask was obtained and pre weighed. The solution containing the
limonene was vacuum filtrated while it was kept warm in a steam bath. Additional Sodium Sulfate
was added to the solution to remove excess water. The solution was then washed 3 4 times with
dichloromethane and the vacuum filtration continued. The vacuum pump was turned off when the
flask contained only a small amount of oil. The flask was then weighed. After the limonene was
isolated in part one, a few drops of it was used to find the refractive index. A Pasteur pipette was used
to place a few drops of the oil on the measuring

Homeless Children In Latin America
PHL 214 Final paper Amanda Calarco Southern New Hampshire University Approximately 40 million
homeless children in the streets of urban Latin America are left with no other option than to resort to
aggressive panhandling, theft and violence as they fight to survive in an unsympathetic society that
completely lacks any supportive programs. These children are viewed as a problem and every night
thousands of them are hunted down by organized vigilantes as well as mercenary off duty and retired
policemen. This viciousness is mostly promoted by the middle class, which sponsors the elimination
of street children as a way to make the streets safe. In Brazil for example, these homeless children are
murdered by death squads paid for by the local businessmen and is even supported in some areas of
the media. The affluent nations of the world should make funds available to Latin American countries
that are earmarked for the care of street children. The principle is that any county that tolerates the
annihilation of its homeless children is not a country that is worth receiving international support. This
threat of economic sanctions on Latin America which has large and growing business sectors, would
be an effective tool in furthering human rights for the homeless children in Latin American nations. ...

Unless these systems are amended, the street child phenomenon will not subside. As seen in United
Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child these street children have a right to safety, shelter,

obligation to design and implement relevant and functional forms of intervention. The annihilation of
street children needs to be seen by the international community as an ideology that seeks to demonize
a despised layer of society in order to justify its extirpation.

Master Harold And The Boys Character Analysis
In Master Harold and the Boys, Hally s crippled father never appears on stage, instead, the closest
thing to him talking is through the telephone conversations. However, Hally s father still has a huge
impact on the play as his roles in the play include creating tension through the phone conversations
and his relationship with his son also brings about the bond between Hally and the servants. In
addition, he symbolizes the conflict of apartheid in South Africa back then.
One of Hally s father s role in the play is acting as a dramatic device. His telephone conversations
with Hally alters the mood and creates tension in the play. Before the telephone conversation
regarding his dad, the mood of nostalgia was in the air as Hally and Sam recalled the kite flying
memory. However, after Hally has a frustrating phone call regarding his father, the mood immediately
changes with Hally saying, (seething with irritation and frustration) Tell me something I don t know,
Sam. What the hell do you think I was saying to my Mom? (P.34) This quote is where Hally takes out
his anger and irritation by snapping at Sam, and in doing so, creating tension between the characters.

The Cruelty of Animal Testing
Animal testing is a completely unnecessary act of cruelty and should not be allowed for various
reasons. It is superfluous for innocent animals to undergo chemical testing of any sort, not only do
they suffer, but there are other more humane alternatives to test products. Many people who are in
favor of animal testing do not know of these safer more humane alternatives. Many methods have
been developed to help stop animal testing, and improve the health system of all human beings.
A significant amount of chemical testing is done on animals and is completely unnecessary. Many
companies test on animals to evaluate the efficiency of a chemical. When testing on animals they
usually check for skin or eye irritation after pouring harsh chemicals onto the shaved skin of a delicate
animal, usually a rabbit, or it is dripped into their eyes without any form of pain relief. [1] Not only
are they tested upon, but afterwards if they have not already died, they are killed by either:
asphyxiation, neck breaking, or decapitation.
Many drug companies use animals for the lethal dose test; they force a defenseless animal to swallow
significant amounts of the chemical which is being tested until they determine the dose that will cause
death. [2] This type of chemical test on animals causes excruciating pain to them because the
chemicals are practically destroying their internal systems as more chemicals are being inserted into
their small bodies.
The drug efficiency test is one of the

Interglacials Essay
The earliest inhabitants of Britain for whom there is compelling evidence are bands of hunters living
in Southern and Western England during the Hoxnian interglacial (about 380,000 to 400,000 BC).
(Some very recent excavations of stone tools on the East Anglian coastline suggest human presence as
early as 700,000 years ago). However, as temperatures again dropped, Britain was abandoned.
Although there are signs of human habitation during later interglacials, it was not until roughly 14,000
years ago that occupation became permanent. Some of the first things that Mesolithic Britons did,
were to wipe out the lion, the elephant, and the hippopotamus, and to domesticate the dog. By about

Britain. By far the most famous is Stonehenge, but at least 900 stone circles survived long enough to

consisting of a ditch and bank surrounding a central table). The ditch was dug and the earthen bank

against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along
with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the
most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with
the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman
Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty
with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart
against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a
treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever
diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I
a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397

The Roaring Twenties And Progressivism
The Roaring Twenties, the Jazz Age, the Age of Intolerance, and the Age of Wonderful Nonsense are
all the names given to the 1920s era (Roaring). People flocked to cities to be part of this great
industrial boom that was taking place. The 1920s was a period of economic prosperity and glamor, but
in time, the glitter of the era would be brushed away to expose the grime that lay just below the
surface (Roaring). The people responsible for this great reveal were called Progressives. The Roaring
Twenties cannot exist without Progressivism. An ideal example of the relationship between the
Roaring Twenties and Progressivism is found in two novels, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle and F. Scott
Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. In approximately 515 pages combined, the entire era is put on display.
The Great Gatsby shows the charm and fortune associated with the Roaring Twenties, and The Jungle
shows the corrupt and monopolistic features of the era. Mutually, these novels provide a realistic
window for future generations to look back in time, even though both are entirely fiction, and see how
society used to be. They coexisted just as The Roaring Twenties coexisted with Progressivism, and
how the flappers and millionaires coexisted with the immigrants. However, the authors had quite
opposing purposes in mind for what their novels would accomplish in their lifetime, or what they
would symbolize to future generations. The Jungle s purpose exposed sleaze in Chicago s
meatpacking industry and

England s Influence On Normandy
Although England s monarchy has played a prominent role throughout its history, its very first
monarch was actually a conqueror from another land. King William began his journey in Normandy, a
region that is current day France. Sometime during the year of 1028, he was born in Falaise, France to
Arlette (also known as Herleva), a tanner s daughter, and Robert I, the Duke of Normandy. As an
illegitimate son of his father, he was known as William the Bastard among his enemies and critics. He
eventually rose to power through his conquest of England, and all throughout history his descendants
held the English throne. William the Conqueror married Matilda of Flanders as an assurance of an
alliance, and they had 4 sons, one of which died at an early age. William s son, Robert, would become
the future Duke of Normandy, and William Rufus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was also able to persuade the Pope to back him, because the Pope was outraged that Harold had
sworn on his precious holy relics and didn t keep his word. With the power of holy influence and 700
ships, William set sail towards England to claim back what was rightfully his. Fortunately for the
enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a Norwegian duke,
who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet William s troops in a final
battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In September 1066, the Normans
(France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged into battle. Due to the inefficiency
of warfare during this era, none of the soldiers could see their leaders, who were feared dead on
multiple occasions. Duke William finally turned the tide of battle by yelling out and rallying his
troops, and the battle was won when King Harold was shot in the eye. At long last, William the
Conqueror had gotten his crown, and was now the ruler of

Overcoming Obstacles In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
Have you ever heard of a family nowadays that are constantly on the move, frequently traveling
throughout our country, stopping to live in one place for a couple months, then leaving for another
place for a similar amount of time and doing that constantly? The Walls are a family that does do that.
In the entertaining book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, a young girl named Jeannette Walls
learns how to become successful in life through constantly being on the move. She lived with her with
her parents and her siblings. Her parents, Rex and Rose Mary would be in a huge fight one minute,
then would be hugging each other the next, which made it hard for the kids to grow up. Throughout
Jeannette s unusual childhood, she learned to have acceptance ... Show more content on

Soon after she got home from the hospital after getting burned, her dad taught her how to put her
finger through a candle flame (which was playing with fire after she had a detrimental moment with
fire) which was courageous of her to do. Dad also thought I should face down my enemy, and he
showed me how to pass my finger through a candle flame (15). Walls used the words face down as
well as enemy , to show how she doesn t let her fears take her over. Those words were used because
they show the toughness in her. Jeannette showed that she can get over her fears by sticking up for
herself which sometimes took a lot of courage. Ernie Goad appeared and began throwing rocks at me
and yelling that the Wallses should all leave Welch because we were stinking it up so bad. I threw a
couple of rocks back and told him to leave me alone (165). This took courage for her to stick up to a
bully because many other people wouldn t pf stood up for themsleves. Jeannette also showed her
courage by not being scared of anyone. I nodded and smiled back, then I realized there was something
malicious in her smile. I locked my arms tighter across my chest (137). Walls used the word locked in
conjunction with tighter , to show that she is a strong person who shows a lot of courage. Those were
the choice of words because they are strong words that are descriptive in the way she acts. In Jeannette
doing that it showed the bully the won t back down to her. These are some reasons why this young girl

Roseanne, Orange Is The New Black, And American Beauty
The true woman requires purity, domesticity, submission, and divinity while being beautiful, smart,
funny, and wealthy. Though a character may embrace one or more of these qualities, it s unrealistic for
them to encompass all. Representation of the body of film is presented differently throughout
Roseanne, Orange is the New Black, and American Beauty. One character throughout these films exist
in ways that defy the standard presentation of the ideal woman or support it and it s used for
perversion. With Roseanne, the celebrity and character, she doesn t fit the feminine sanction by being
rowdy and too fat, which is considered excessive by the public eye. Taystee from Orange is the New
Black is also too much because she s clever and black. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of all the contestants, Taystee was arguably the most professional with the most drive during the
on stage interview and interview costume contest portion. However, the woman judging the contest
explained Taystee s outfit wasn t appropriate for an interview because the suit was too tight and didn t
go with her skin color. The judge suggested that curvy woman should wear something looser, despite
that Taystee strategically picked the same outfit that won last year s job fair contest. Taystee lost this
portion of the contest to Flaca, who was appropriate yet had heavy handed makeup. Everyone knew
Flaca was more conventionally beautiful over Taystee, who is black and fuller figured. Taystee has
shown several times that she s sharp and savvy, yet gets held back from growing experiences when
she s more than qualified for

Examples Of Hyperbolical Protestation In Tamburlaine
The wish fulfilment images find their most appropriate and characteristic form of expression in
Tamburlaine s hyperbolical protestations.
For I, the chiefest lamp of all the earth,
First rising in the east with mild aspect.
But fixed now in the meridian line,
Will send up fire to your turning spheres,
And cause the sun to borrow light of you; (p.44)
This is a form of expression which Marlowe nowhere else uses as often as in this play. Marlowe can
use imagery to differentiate his characters, for example, Bajazeth s speeches contain images from the
underworld and are full of monsters and darkness,
... sacrifice my heart to death and hell,
Before I yield to such a slavery. (p.43)
Then, as I look down to the damned fiends,
Fiends, look on me! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And neither Perseans Soveraign, nor the Turk
Troubled my sences with conceit of foile,
So much by much, as dooth Zenocrate
What is beauty, saith my sufferings then? (pp.55 6)
The praise on Zenocrate shows close affinities with Elizabethan poetic conventions in its structure, in
the repetition of the metrically regular lines in which Zenocrate s name is introduced, and in its
imagery. It is a highly lyrical description it opens with references to nature s participation in
Tamburlaine s feelings, watery cheeks, aire, earth and goes on to speak of Zenocrate s imminent death.
It ends with five parallel visions which show the loving sympathy and grief of the angels, of the
heavenly bodies, of nature, and of God.
Eies when that Ebena steps to heaven,
In silence of thy solemn Evenings walk,
Making the mantle of the richest night,
The Moone, the Planets, and the Meteors light. (p.56) These examples show the way in which lyrical
forms could be absorbed by the drama and that Marlowe the playwright is inseparable from Marlowe
the

  • 2. No More Tom Ripley Analysis No more Tom Ripley than Dickie Greenleaf, he returned to New York City behind a confused veil of anonymity. Occasionally, a sharp memory would point its way to the forefront of Ripley s mind for just a moment: a moment that lasted just long enough for the piercing thought to puncture his brain. Guilt had Ripley in a stranglehold, periodically loosening its grip to allow fear to take over. Caught in a downward spiral that disguised itself as an endless loop, Ripley found himself regretting decisions he hadn t yet made. Enough trauma came about on the trip back to New York: twenty four hour cycles comprising mental re enactments of Peter s death, staring at blank walls, and wondering how many extra murders it would take to cover the previous ones up. Ripley could never progress while brooding in a sombre cabin without so much as even a smirched window for a glimmer of light, let alone solve his problems entirely. ... It was difficult to comprehend how such a small event such as Marge convincing Greenleafs about Dickie s death could spark such an immense series of repercussions for Ripley. After all, New York City was a small place when you considered the tight social circles of the Greenleafs wealthy lifestyles. Ripley s mind had grown accustomed to a certain path of thinking, funnelling into an obvious solution; but the Greenleafs might not have even gone close to encountering Marge since he had returned, and Meredith may have still been in Italy, for all he knew. It wasn t a path he wanted to follow, but then, it never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Achondroplasia History Achondroplasia is the most common diagnosis and most frequent form of those who are considered to be dwarfs ( Learning About , 2016). When one thinks of dwarfism, they think of a short stature with short arms, legs, and a large head. It occurs in one in every 15,000 to one in 40,000 live births ( Learning About , 2016). According to BBC News (2005), researchers found that the earliest biological evidence of dwarfs dates back to a Predynastic Period called the Badarian Period (4500 BC) in addition to several skeletons from the Old Kingdom (2700 2190 BC). There has been evidence of dwarfism in ancient Egyptian times. Dwarfs were held in high regard in ancient Egypt even having two dwarf gods that they worshiped named Ptah and Bes ... If difficulty breathing or sleep apnea has been observed, there are surgical options to help correct these issues. There are also medical tests to evaluate signs of spinal cord compression and hypotonia that are recommended (Learning About, 2016). If a reduced foramen magnum size is observed in medical tests, there may be a need for suboccipital compression to reduce pressure on the spinal cord (Achondroplasia, n.d.). Middle ear infections are quite common in accompanying this disease and must be managed accordingly (Achondroplasia, n.d.). Other management strategies may be less thought about, however, those growing and living with this disease face many hardships that those of normal stature do not. This poses psychological turmoil that can be prevented by talking with therapists available to help guide those through this challenging but overcoming process (Rasmussen, ... • 4. Hamlet Foils Decisions In the play Hamlet, Shakespeare incorporates the theme that an individual s decisions, whether conscious or unconscious, which are made on earth will foreshadow their outcome in the afterlife. Shakespeare establishes this theme through the contrast of the character foils, Hamlet and Laertes. While both characters do act upon their decisions, Shakespeare clearly shows the difference between the influences of their actions. Hamlet commits his actions in an unconscious states as he suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which occurs when an individual has, exposure to trauma involving death (Canadian Mental Health Association, para. 1). Therefore, predestining him to Purgatory. Meanwhile, Laertes commits his actions in full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This action shows that Laertes intentionally committed mortal sin, as he had, full knowledge and consent to his actions (CCC 1857). Hence, making Laertes was aware of what he was doing and where these actions will lead him to Hell. In addition, Laertes shows a disrespect towards the Claudius, calling him a vile king (4.5.114). During the Elizabethan era, the King was viewed as the messenger on earth for God (Wilson 1). With the King being viewed as God s representative, Laertes s decision to call Claudius vile is him further condemning himself to Hell because he is not only insulting the kill but God. According to Catholic principles,a person goes to Hell when they, die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice (CCC 1033). In regards to Laertes s actions and the Catholic definition of who qualifies for Hell, it is evident that Laertes is on the highway to Hell. Thus, Laertes s destination to Hell is an predictable fate. Laertes will go to Hell an exact result of his conscious action to sin against God and not seek out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Idea Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 Indian Removal Many people today would question whether the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was constitutional or not. While the idea took many years to develop, it was in fact, a traumatic experience. When prompted to do so, the Indians of their own land were forced to leave everything they had ever known and walk along what is known as the trail of tears . This was a one thousand mile trek that took about two months to complete. According to Steven Mintz chapter titled, Indian Removal thousands of Natives were lost along the long, treacherous walk. Those who refused to walk were eventually forced to, by being bound together and marched in a double file line down the Trail of Tears. Whether or not it was safer for the Indians to leave their home, it was torture. They were forced to endure things that no human should ever have to go through. Were the Indians forced to leave, because the Americans were too concerned with their own being? Many people today question this, as it has happened many different times in history with many different minorities and groups of people. What makes Americans so much better than anyone else? The first person to raise the idea of the Indian Removal was Thomas Jefferson. In Peter Onuf s book, The Mind of Thomas Jefferson , he notes that Jefferson initiated the idea of the removing process westward. (106). However it was not until Andrew Jackson became president that this process took effect. In the beginning, the idea of removing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Live Electronics Essay 1.1 Research Goal The object of the proposed research is to build an authoring system for performance of live electronics which will simplify the compositional workflow, easy the performance and ensure the preservation. The main idea is to extend Common Western Music Notation(CWMN) to the field of algorithmic thinking as a method for creating an abstract and cohesive representation of the underlying logic and instrumental parts for the live electronics genre. Along with this new notation, it is necessary to develop an authoring/performance technology environment which will enable us to represent and execute the logical layer of the piece and composing a series of live electronic pieces as a means for exploring, developing and evaluating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the introduction of any new notational mechanisms must be designed as an organic whole about the traditional interpretation of signs and symbols regarding music semiotics. However, it is important to note here, that the scope of this goal is constrained to the semantics domain, as in broad sense the re interpretation of a musical score as a logical descriptor is radical in nature. The choose of CWMN as main descriptor of music related events is justified for the fact that CWMN is still in wide sue among the composer community, Kurt Stone wrote regarding this fact [Stone, 1980]. In spite of the new notational signs generated since early 1950s, a major part of our era s music, whether serious or not, has been, still is, and probably will continue to be written either entirely by means of traditional notation or with a mixture of old and new signs and procedures. A second important aspect relates to a practical performance aspect. In Western Music, staff notation plays an active role in the pursuit of communicating a complex musical idea created by the composer during the live performance. All relevant performance information is carefully detailed in the score parts, so the score plays two roles in the communication system, a passive role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Economic Benefits Of Wolf Packs In the first scenario wolf pack are able to hunt reindeers easily, because there are less wolf packs competing for a limited number of resources. This would mean that the wolf pack would use less energy in hunting by using ambush tactics that require more time and are usually less effective than the traditional hunting methods, but it would offset this with an economic gain in terms of calories. Another reason might be just the fact that prey is more readily available and wolves have the opportunity to hunt more. Both scenarios produce an economic benefit for the wolves because they are going to acquire more calories than they spent. The described situation is not a perfect competition. However, as previously mentioned other wolf packs can enter the valley without any restriction and they are going to seize this arbitrage opportunity until there is no economic profit and the cost of hunting equals its benefits. The behavior of the wolf packs will be the same in the perfect competition market and there will be no readjustment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting directly in the sun with a sweatshirt and pants on was unpleasant. • 12. A Report Analyzing The Viability Of The Nuclear Fusion Dear Upper Hutt City Council Today I am writing you a report analysing the viability of the use of Nuclear Fusion as a energy source in your community. I will analyse the feasibility of this kind of nuclear power in your community by firstly explaining what nuclear fusion is and how it works. I will then use calculations to estimate how this new energy produced could compare to the amount of energy used by the city currently. Nuclear Fusion occurs when two small nuclei fuse to form a larger nucleus (this is not to be confused with fission). A large amount of energy is released, which can be explained simply enough by the binding energy per nucleon. The nucleons in extremely small nuclei have more energy than those in slightly larger nuclei. Because these nucleons have more energy, they have less binding energy per nucleon (because the same total binding energy must be split evenly, therefore more energy=less binding energy to go around). Because of this, when the reaction of two smaller nuclei fusing takes place, the nucleons must have to lose energy. The subsequent energy that they lose is the energy that is released. For all of this to happen, a fusion reaction requires utterly immense temperature of millions of degrees celcius, just in order to force the nuclei to move fast enough to fuse and stick. The Prime example of Nuclear Fusion is the sun. It is obvious that atoms do not rest: the hotter they get, the quicker they move. Temperatures reach 15,000,000° C in the ... Cleopatr The Ruler Behind The Myth Final Paper | Cleopatra Unearthed: The Ruler Behind the Myth Adunola Sonaike HST323, Sect. 17196: Themes in Roman Republican and Imperial History Prof. Sandra Gambetti May 24th, 2015Introduction: Cleopatra Who? Who was Cleopatra? Who is Cleopatra? Portrayed as both goddess and monster in her own lifetime, through the ages she has become both saint and sinner, heroine and victim, femme fatale and star crossed lover, politician and voluptuary, black and white. A protean figure, Cleopatra defies categorization. 1 So began Prudence J. Jones introduction in her edited text, Cleopatra: A Sourcebook. Jones claims Cleopatra was a chameleon in the skin of an Egyptian Pharaoh. As such she molded herself to fit what would best procure her the much needed tactics to strengthen and maximize the power she inherited. As the world changed, so did their perception of Cleopatra; and, in turn every generation construed her differently: from evil seductress, ill fated star crossed lover to renewed empowering feminist icon. The Cleopatra painted in this paper will decidedly be more reserved, acutely un promiscuous, sharp witted, resilient, and less beautiful than her literary and culturally shambolic counterpart; the Cleopatra history wished to hide. One cannot help but to find Cleopatra tremendously impressive and more or less frightening. This woman was up against incredible odds, and before she knew it her story was over. PESTLE Analysis on Tesco Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on Tesco as it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and Europe. For this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal structures, impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they play a major role in relation to one another. When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political and legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the government really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower paid, local based jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet certain demands relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company understands that while being in the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the work place (the development of new stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors due to the fact that the traditional stores go out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in order to being able to compete) as being a fundamentally local and labour intensive sector. ... The breach of the warranty is that the A/C was defective due to a design defect, and the manufacture is liable for the harm it cause to Lake Breach of warranty based product liability claims usually focus on one of three types: 1. Breach of an express warranty An express warranty is a guarantee from the seller of a product that specifies the extent to which the quality or performance of the product is assured and states the conditions under which the product can be returned, replaced, or repaired. It is often given in the form of a specific, written Warranty document. However, a warranty may also arise by operation of law based upon the seller s description of the goods, and perhaps their source and quality, and any material deviation from that specification would violate the guarantee. For example, an advertisement describing a product is often full of express warranties; the product must substantially conform to what is advertised. Many advertisers insert disclaimers for this purpose (e.g., actual color/mileage/results may vary , or not shown actual size ). • 19. The Gospel Of Mark Is A Fast Moving The Gospel of Mark is a fast moving, succinct, and informative gospel thought to be originally written by John Mark, using Simon Peter s eye witness accounts. The author seems to place emphasis around the meaningful events and moments in the life of Jesus Christ, such as his suffering, crucifixion, and messianic secret. However, the gospel is primarily centered around Jesus teachings, especially honing in on the beginning of Jesus Ministry. Jesus as a teacher and the discipleship are key factors to the gospel s proposed message Jesus Christ gave his life in service to the world. Therefore, humans are to learn from his message and teachings. In Mark 12:38 44, these themes of discipleship, suffering, and Jesus as a teacher are represented as there is an obvious gap between the affluent scribes offering for the treasury and the widow s gift of all that she had to live on (NRSV, Mark 12:44). Jesus takes this opportunity to continue his teaching by summoning his disciples and pointing out the different contributions to the temple treasury, while making a notable commentary on the social and socio economic situation that the scribes have created a situation that lead to poverty for the widow. In Mark 12:38 40, Jesus explicitly denounces the scribes as he teaches. He warns the disciples about the scribes, providing insight into the social threat that they (scribes) bring. • 21. Utilitarianism By John Stuart Mill Analysis Paper 2 In the essay Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill, he explains his support for utilitarianism and argues any misconceptions of it. In his essay he talks about the difference between higher and lower pleasures and what significance they have in his utilitarian moral theory. His theory is based on the rule that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. Many people experience different kinds of pleasure and he talks about how they can differ in quality and quantity. Mills talks about higher and lower pleasures and what they mean. Higher and lower pleasures are two things that bring someone pleasure but pleasure one brings greater pleasure than pleasure 2. Although pleasure 2 brings the person happiness, pleasure 1 has a greater affect on their happiness and the person will always choose pleasure 1. Even is the quantity is greater in pleasure two they will still choose pleasure one because of the quality. Typically when someone experiences the higher pleasure they will not choose the lower pleasure when given the option. Once people have experienced a higher pleasure they will never want to go back to choosing the lower pleasure except in extreme circumstances. For example someone might get pleasure from eating McDonalds, but one day they decide to go to chipotle instead and find out that they like it much better than McDonalds. Summary Of Ain T No Makin It By Jay Macleod The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. Comparison Of Evidence And Pattern Evidence Comparison of latent fingerprints found at the crime scene with exemplar prints, comparison of bite marks on a victim, DNA evidence, hair and fibre matching are some of the example of pattern comparison in forensic science (Coyle, Field Wenderoth, 2009). He has walked away and back to somewhere in the rain. He has walked in the city and beyond, perhaps out of the city. He has been down the lonely dark streets. He walks by a watchman, but did not look because he did not want to have to give an explanation of what he was doing there. He has stopped to listen to a voice calling out from another street, hoping that is was someone that was looking for him. The speaker looks up at a luminary clock , which is the moon, but was not very satisfied with the time that it has shown. He ends up referring to the first line of the poem, he has been acquainted with the night. Robert Frost uses symbolism, setting, and the speaker himself to tell the story of the man who has been acquainted with the night. The first literary element used in Acquainted with The Night is symbolism. Darkness and light are used in the poem, more being the lack of light. Over nine million soldiers and a large amount of innocent civilians lost their lives. Empires crumbled, revolution engulfed Russia and America rose to become a dominant world power. Huge armies deployed new weapons of devastating effect from rifles and pistols to torpedoes and flame throwers. These weapons were used not only in the trenches but by tanks too. This was an advantage to those who were able to access such machinery as they could easily launch bullets and missiles at nearby enemy bases. The downfall of the tank was the fact it was unable to cross the trenches. Tanks were not the only pieces of equipment that could access this machinery but U boats and planes too. The British carried bolt action rifles in which fired 15 rounds per minute at a minimum range of 1,400 metres away. This allowed the British to take out foes at a far greater range. By using machinery in which rules out the need for getting up close to the enemy was a great advantage during world war one. Soldiers ran from trench to trench attacking with all that they had. This resulted in a massacre as the soldiers running toward the trenches were shot down. Machinery such as machine guns and heavy artillery were the weapons used in the trenches. Firstly, the repetition in the phrase we passed in the third stanza shows that the nature of humans is to go through different stages in life before death. Dickinson ends the third stanza with the line We passed the Setting Sun which is the last stage of life, death. This reveals that at the start, the first stage of life is to go through school, study and get educated. By the time humans grow up, mature, and grow old it is the setting sun; which means that life is almost over, the way the sunsets there is just a bit of sunlight left before nighttime (either rephrase the entire sentence or remove the highlighted part). Life is the same way; humans should not fear death because it is a normal stage of living. One of the main reasons Dickinson wrote this, is because she strongly believes that there is eternity and that afterlife does exist. She saw it as a glorious and exciting time because everyone would be in heaven. This view was influenced by her upbringing in a Christian home and was a Bible reader. These children are viewed as a problem and every night thousands of them are hunted down by organized vigilantes as well as mercenary off duty and retired policemen. Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397 AD, ... • 43. The Roaring Twenties And Progressivism The Roaring Twenties, the Jazz Age, the Age of Intolerance, and the Age of Wonderful Nonsense are all the names given to the 1920s era (Roaring). People flocked to cities to be part of this great industrial boom that was taking place. The 1920s was a period of economic prosperity and glamor, but in time, the glitter of the era would be brushed away to expose the grime that lay just below the surface (Roaring). The people responsible for this great reveal were called Progressives. The Roaring Twenties cannot exist without Progressivism. An ideal example of the relationship between the Roaring Twenties and Progressivism is found in two novels, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle and F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. In approximately 515 pages combined, the entire era is put on display. The Great Gatsby shows the charm and fortune associated with the Roaring Twenties, and The Jungle shows the corrupt and monopolistic features of the era. Mutually, these novels provide a realistic window for future generations to look back in time, even though both are entirely fiction, and see how society used to be. They coexisted just as The Roaring Twenties coexisted with Progressivism, and how the flappers and millionaires coexisted with the immigrants. However, the authors had quite opposing purposes in mind for what their novels would accomplish in their lifetime, or what they would symbolize to future generations. The Jungle s purpose exposed sleaze in Chicago s meatpacking industry and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. England s Influence On Normandy Although England s monarchy has played a prominent role throughout its history, its very first monarch was actually a conqueror from another land. King William began his journey in Normandy, a region that is current day France. As an illegitimate son of his father, he was known as William the Bastard among his enemies and critics. He eventually rose to power through his conquest of England, and all throughout history his descendants held the English throne. William the Conqueror married Matilda of Flanders as an assurance of an alliance, and they had 4 sons, one of which died at an early age. He was also able to persuade the Pope to back him, because the Pope was outraged that Harold had sworn on his precious holy relics and didn t keep his word. With the power of holy influence and 700 ships, William set sail towards England to claim back what was rightfully his. Fortunately for the enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a Norwegian duke, who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet William s troops in a final battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In September 1066, the Normans (France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged into battle. Due to the inefficiency of warfare during this era, none of the soldiers could see their leaders, who were feared dead on multiple occasions. Duke William finally turned the tide of battle by yelling out and rallying his troops, and the battle was won when King Harold was shot in the eye. At long last, William the Conqueror had gotten his crown, and was now the ruler of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soon after she got home from the hospital after getting burned, her dad taught her how to put her finger through a candle flame (which was playing with fire after she had a detrimental moment with fire) which was courageous of her to do. Dad also thought I should face down my enemy, and he showed me how to pass my finger through a candle flame (15). Walls used the words face down as well as enemy , to show how she doesn t let her fears take her over. Those words were used because they show the toughness in her. Jeannette showed that she can get over her fears by sticking up for herself which sometimes took a lot of courage. Ernie Goad appeared and began throwing rocks at me and yelling that the Wallses should all leave Welch because we were stinking it up so bad. I threw a couple of rocks back and told him to leave me alone (165). This took courage for her to stick up to a bully because many other people wouldn t pf stood up for themsleves. Jeannette also showed her courage by not being scared of anyone. I nodded and smiled back, then I realized there was something malicious in her smile. I locked my arms tighter across my chest (137). Walls used the word locked in conjunction with tighter , to show that she is a strong person who shows a lot of courage. Those were the choice of words because they are strong words that are descriptive in the way she acts. In Jeannette doing that it showed the bully the won t back down to her. • 46. Roseanne, Orange Is The New Black, And American Beauty The true woman requires purity, domesticity, submission, and divinity while being beautiful, smart, funny, and wealthy. Representation of the body of film is presented differently throughout Roseanne, Orange is the New Black, and American Beauty. • 47. Examples Of Hyperbolical Protestation In Tamburlaine The wish fulfilment images find their most appropriate and characteristic form of expression in Tamburlaine s hyperbolical protestations. For I, the chiefest lamp of all the earth, First rising in the east with mild aspect. But fixed now in the meridian line, Will send up fire to your turning spheres, And cause the sun to borrow light of you; (p.44) This is a form of expression which Marlowe nowhere else uses as often as in this play. Marlowe can use imagery to differentiate his characters, for example, Bajazeth s speeches contain images from the underworld and are full of monsters and darkness, ... sacrifice my heart to death and hell, Before I yield to such a slavery. And neither Perseans Soveraign, nor the Turk Troubled my sences with conceit of foile, So much by much, as dooth Zenocrate What is beauty, saith my sufferings then? (pp.55 6) The praise on Zenocrate shows close affinities with Elizabethan poetic conventions in its structure, in the repetition of the metrically regular lines in which Zenocrate s name is introduced, and in its imagery. It is a highly lyrical description it opens with references to nature s participation in Tamburlaine s feelings, watery cheeks, aire, earth and goes on to speak of Zenocrate s imminent death. It ends with five parallel visions which show the loving sympathy and grief of the angels, of the heavenly bodies, of nature, and of God. Eies when that Ebena steps to heaven, In silence of thy solemn Evenings walk, Making the mantle of the richest night, The Moone, the Planets, and the Meteors light.
